Why my iphone 's screen blank although every other component working fine iPhone 4S

So i was sitting watching a stream on my iphone when it spontaneously started flickering the volume control, i hit the menu button but i still heard the sound from the stream even though my menu was up, i decided to shut off the phone and turn it back on. It shut off fine, then i held down the power to turn it back on and the screen stayed blank. I held the menu down and the siri noise started playing as it should have, i could move about my apps and whatnot but there was no image at all. Any idea what is going on with it, did the screen just randomly break? I havent had the phone long (about a month and a half) so I dont know why it could be acting up like this, I havent had any problems with it before just a little while ago.

Hardware fail is a real possibility.

Try the standard troublshooting procedures from the user guide, starting with a Reset:

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).

If none of the suggested solutions help, take it to a Genius at the nearest Apple store. If required, they will replace it, so back it up to iTunes before you go.
