why doesn't my iPad and iPhone power on immediately when plugged into a power source? This is more of a suggestion, but I was asked to submit a question.

solution for apple devices to provide instant on.In th event of a complete battery drain the unit should shut down leaving a 2% battery reserve for instant on effect when pugging into a power source.

I would much rather get that last 2% of the battery before a call is cut off...

No one here is privy to Apple design decisions, but the delay in turn on while charging a depleted battery protects the battery from rapid serial depletions which greatly shorten the life span of Li-ion batteries.
