Why 4s deleting my voicemail messages iPhone

My visual voicemails were erased as well.  Happened in the last week. Verizon is looking into it for me but so far I have only received lame excuse from Apple. Steve is spinning. I will post when I receive a new response in the next 48 hours.

Hi, I've been experiencing the same thing since upgrading to the latest IPhone software about a month ago.  Call comes in, routes to VM, then when I go to listen and tap the entry, the phone rolls over to Siri.  Very irritating. Powering down the phone completely and having Sprint refresh the VM is the only way to go, and that sometimes takes up to 5 minutes.  If I try and retrieve before the list is refreshed, my phone defaults to keyboard dialing of VM, at which point I'm informed there's a message -- or messages -- waiting. 

This is not only frustrating, it's dangerous!  When this happens in the car, I have to grab the phone and power off -- not what hands-free driving is all about.  I can't tell Siri to power down or check VM -- she REFUSES.   I've missed important calls from my mother's long term care facility -- NOT GOOD -- as well as the vet's office and the animal shelter (I volunteer with a dog rescue group). 

I don't see any responses from Apple regarding this problem -- is there an update from the "Big A" that we can look forward to?  It's been so bad I feel like tossing my IPhone from my car window while driving down 101.

I had a 2hr conversation with Verizon Support and Apple Support. Both claim that the actual voicemails reside on the other's servers, so neither takes responsibility.  I beleive an upgrade is the only way that 6 months of voicemails can be erased quickly. BUT without either service provider claiming to be the guardian of voicemail data, I am afraid the messages will not be recovered and I do not feel confident that it will not happen again.  Perhaps a droid device with a sim card? Makes the icloud, or any cloud, seem risky.
