When I tried to download an app on to my phone I keep getting a message 'Unable to download app' and the icon turns grey. 'Unable to download app at this time' with an option of 'done' or 'try again'. How do I fix this problem?

What happens when trying to download a new app or an app update via iTunes on the computer?

Basic troubleshooting for iDevices is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?
