I must be using my headphones too loud because I have trouble hearing my phone ring even at the highest volume setting. OK, its usually in my purse, too. Still, I can usually hear it but invariably it goes to VM as soon as I try to answer it. If only the ring would go on for just a few seconds longer. I cant find a setting for this. Is there such a thing??

There is no setting for this with the iPhone.
There isnt a number of rings setting, but there is a time setting with the max being 30 seconds I believe. This must be set at the cellular providers server since voicemail is left on the server, which in the U.S. is with AT&T. Keep in mind that even with the maximum time setting set at the server, the clock at the server may start before you hear the first ring depending on your cellular reception and/or overall network traffic in your area at the time, etc. Contact AT&T customer support regarding this.
