If I take my water damaged iPhone 4 into an apple store, will they be able to retrieve my pictures, video and contacts from it?? It currently won't turn on, wondering if there is a way for them to turn it on to do that?
How long ago did you get it wet? Getting the phone wet voids your warranty, so an Apple Store probably won't offer you any help with it.
The most important thing people forget is to not use the device when it gets wet.
They get impatient and try and turn it on.
I say this, because if you have been trying to use it and it won't turn on. It's probably dead.
Throw it in some rice and let it sit for like 4 days or so. turning it over every 24 hours and changing the rice out when you do that.
If it won't turn on, no there is no way to get the data off. It's dead, so no power, no way to get it off.
No. If it won't turn on, there's no way to retrieve your data. Apple is not in the data retrieval business. You can get the phone replaced (for US$149) then restore it from the last backup you made.
It got wet 2 days ago. Had it in rice since then and just tried turning it on for the first time now. No I didn't try turning it on right after it got wet!
Yeah its dead then.
Sorry that happened. one last thing you could try is holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time with it plugged in for atleast 10 seconds.
Like a just in case try everything possible.
