I have been having a problem with my iPhones volume controls. Sometimes when listening the music the control keys on the side do not work at all and at random moments the volume level will rise or decease for no reason. Sometimes, when I adjust the volume using the GUI slider control, I can watch it creep right back up on its own. This
Also, the vibrator in the phone will buzz for no reason, repeatedly (no, not for incoming e-mail or texts—for NO reason).
I suppose it could be a hardware issue, but I am not convinced, as I have been hearing others have had similar problems.
While these problems didnt start immediately after I upgraded the OS to 3.0, they did not happen until that after that time. Also, the upgrade to 3.1 made no change in the problem. Its just as bad as ever.

Try to restore as a new phone and see what happens.

Before restoring, try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you wont lose any data or settings.

Ill try the restore as a new phone.
As for the reboot, that does not work. Tried that one already.

Ive been suffering from the exact same problem for a while now. I cant even listen to my music anymore and its driving me crazy. Let me know if the restore** works. Thanks!

I have the same issue with my iphone 3G. Started happening with the 3.0 OS and has continued with 3.0.1. I was able to get it to stop for a couple weeks with a hard reboot, but it is back again.
