Voicemail not working after set up iPhone

Ive had my iPhone for about 3 weeks now and I set up my voice mail shortly after I purchased it. After 2 messages were left for me it stopped working. After about a week it started working again, until 2 more messages were left and now its not working again.
I had it set up with the default message, which I prefer. Is there something Im missing with this thing? So far, Ive been really disappointed in my iPhone. Any suggestions on how to get my voice mail working again?

I would run through the general troubleshooting (ie reset and Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and such) and see if that helps

Outside of that if you call your own number do you get any odd error messages? Do you have any other data issues with your phone (do 3G and Edge work?)
I would probably contact AT&T general support if so and verify the voicemail is configured properly.
