I never figured out this problem until today:
•My visual voicemail appears to be functioning, nothing denotes otherwise.
•I was wondering why no one left me voicemail after they called, so I decided why not check it manually.
•I help down 1, and lo and behold I had at least 30 messages over the past month.
•Occasionally a message comes thru to my visual vm, but apparently not all.
So basically how do I get this working? It doesnt even alert me when I have a voicemail.
Im on At&T, running 3.0.1 (could old firmware be the problem?, I have reasons for keeping it at 3.0.1, and no its not jailbroken.)

Hey, I've had the same problem; I don't have a solution but thought posting what I've done so far might help with collaboration and figuring out how to fix this.

Equipment: iphone 3gs, software 3.1.2.

I spoke with ATT this past week and the customer service rep made changes on the "back end" while I updated my software on the front end. So far, unfortunately, nothing has worked. Data connectivity seems to be working fine, but I'm unable to change my VM password from my phone - it gives me an error stating something similar to "voicemail is currently unavailable, try again later". Manually checking my mail by hitting the #1 key, however, works, and I can change my password that way. ATT is following up with me later today; I'll let you know if I come with a solution! I'd appreciate it if you did the same!

Peace,
DB

Hey all, I had the same problem and found out that it was caused by the tethering hack profile I installed from Benm. You need to remove this profile before it will work. I actually removed it, but it still wasn't working so I re-installed and removed it again. That was finally the trick. I restarted my phone and my voicemails returned!

Remove the profile from Settings--general--profiles

Hope this helps!
