texting to other carriers iPhone 3G

is anyone else experiencing a lag time for other carriers to receive your text messages? some of my friends on verizon and sprint dont get my message for 20 minutes! should i call at&t or is this an apple issue?

If messages to AT&T users arent delayed, then its not a problem with the iPhone. The delay may be AT&T being slow to send the messages to the other carriers, or Verizon and Sprint.

Most likely it is a network issue. ATT could be slow at handing off the message to Verizon or Sprint or Verizon/Sprint could be slow at accepting and delivering the message. None of the carriers guarantee that SMS is going to be instant.
