The thing is that i've been trying to use my iPhone 4S as master transmiter of GPS signals and accelerometer data for my ipad mini to use an app called air navigation pro, the deal is that when i try to pair my devices vía bluetooth they just seem not to recognize each other, the only way i can get them to work is by using personal hotspot or share internet option vía bluetooth, but thats the only way.I've heard theres a bug related to that, that our friends in cupertino just ignored when they updated IOS, Anyone can help me?, does Anyone has Any info about this, or maybe a solution.By the way since this may be due to my IOS instaled in my iPhone my devices are:-Ipad mini wifi only IOS 6.1.3-iPhone 4s IOS 6.1.3Thanks in advance for Any info proportioned
I have an IPhone 5 and it seems my battery will be drained completely in less that 4 hours, in addition the temperature of this phone is 102 degrees...this seems way to high to me. any help or advice?
When I check the weather in the notification tray and in the built-in weather app it says it's Sunday and the temperature is 45 degrees where I am. That's incorrect. It's Thursday and 67 degrees. I also tried weather for major cities and it's showing the wrong day and temperature for them as well. I checked Yahoo Weather and that data is correct. I restarted my phone and at some point it showed the wrong data for my town in the local weather page, but the correct weather when I manually added my town, but when refreshing it's wrong for both. There's a number of complaints on Twitter about this. What's going on? How can Yahoo's weather be correct, but the iPhone's wrong since the iPhone weather app uses data from Yahoo?
I've never had this issue with a previous model. When I am outside and sunlight comes in contact with my screen. The sunlight will click things/type messages/scroll etc. It's not like I'm in heavy sunlight either. It's 50 degrees outside and it's still doing it. It happens too when I'm sitting in my car. There will be some light coming through the window and it causes it too. I'm told this is not normal and the phone is defective. Is this true? Also, if it is defective... How should I prove this to Apple when I make an appt.? I know when I get there they will say it is working fine and there is nothing they can do.... Thanks for the help in advance from anyone!
I've had my 4S since January 2012. All was well for about a year, and then the fun began.1) When the weather got colder (Less than five or six degrees), the phone would suddenly claim to have a flat battery, and turned itself off. Plugging in an external battery pack brought it back to life. Taking it back inside a warm building would bring it back to life again. 2) About twice a month, it crashes, and wipes all my contacts/calendar data. I started backing up to iCloud, so then it would restore from there, but muddle my contacts' photos up.3) It refuses to sync with iTunes. It says there's not enough memory. Sometimes on the phone, sometimes on my PC.4) At least once a day, it loses the ability to join any mobile network. Turning it off and on again usually allows it to rejoin my network (T Mobile).5) Instead of T Mobile, it randomly likes to show my operator name as 000-0000.6) It helpfully closes all my Safari tabs if I minimise Safari and use another app.7) The GPS is failing, which is a real nuisance because I use Nike+ for my daily jog. T Mobile's tech help were not very much help as soon as they realised I'd had the phone for over a year, and was therefore no longer covered by their warranty. They reckoned it was a hardware failure. I've purchased Apple Care today, and booked a Genius Bar appointment for Friday. Does anyone have experience of any of these problems?
We found that your app uses one or more non-public APIs, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. The use of non-public APIs is not permissible because it can lead to a poor user experience should these APIs change. We found the following non-public API/s in your app:_terminateWithStatus:If you have defined methods in your source code with the same names as the above-mentioned APIs, we suggest altering your method names so that they no longer collide with Apple's private APIs to avoid your application being flagged in future submissions.Additionally, one or more of the above-mentioned APIs may reside in a static library included with your application. If you do not have access to the library's source, you may be able to search the compiled binary using "strings" or "otool" command line tools. The "strings" tool can output a list of the methods that the library calls and "otool -ov" will output the Objective-C class structures and their defined methods. These techniques can help you narrow down where the problematic code resides. We appreciate that you may have made the precautions in your code for using non-public APIs, however, there is no way to accurately or completely predict how an API may be modified and what effects those modifications may have. For this reason, we do not permit the use of non-public APIs in App Store apps.If there are no alternatives for providing the functionality your app requires, we encourage you to file anenhancement request. Or, try working with the Apple Developer Technical Support team to explore alternative solutions. On occasion, there may be apps on the App Store that don't appear to be in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. We work hard to ensure that the apps on the App Store are in compliance and we try to identify any apps currently on the App Store that may not be. It takes time to identify these occurrences but another app being out of compliance is not a reason for your app to be.For discrete code-level questions, you may wish to consult with Apple Developer Technical Support. Please be sure to:- include the complete details of your rejection issues- prepare any symbolicated crash logs, screenshots, and steps to reproduce the issues for when the DTS engineer follows up. For information on how to symbolicate and read a crash log, please see Tech Note TN2151 Understanding and Analyzing iPhone OS Application Crash Reports. If you have difficulty reproducing this issue, please try testing the workflow as described in <https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/qa/qa1764/>Testing Workflow with xcode's Archive feature".
I developed a application on xcode 4.5.1 and Testing on iOS 6.1.2,In which i have shown UIAlertView with 2 or more Button's Like "OK, Cancel... etc"after clicked on any of these button's, the shadow effects of alertView is doesn't remove.after that when we tap on screen then screen starts blinking. when we rotate device once, then device stops blinking and it repeats after new alertView appear. It's working fine on iOS 6.0 and Previous Versions.
Hello, Apple user's, I am a 15yr old with a passion for computers & design. Anyways I am interested in developing for the iPhone, as I'll be getting one in a few months. I've never really developed any type of games before, but am in a game design school magnet, and want to begin to learn how to program as I've been meaning to for a while now. I'm interested in developing for the iPhone, and know I need a Mac, Objective-c knowledge as well as xcode knowledge, and a $99 Subscription to be able to sell and test my apps. So here's some questions I've been wanting to ask for awhile...1. Would you recommend a Mac-Mini ? I see i5 Mac mini's on craigslist going for around $400-$450, and know I could afford that. I switch between my mom/dad's house weekly, and have a Windows based desktop that I built w/ monitor at each house, So I'm thinking i could just bring a small Mac-Mini back and forth with me, as they're pretty small.2. Could you guy's point me towards some nice Objective-C or xcode tutorials or books? I've just started spring break and want to take advantage of the time off.3. I'm only 15, so how would I go about selling apps, Ill probably have mostly free apps but would like to incorporate paid versions too, and I know i need to be 18 to sign a contract, would i just get my mom to sign the contract, and if she gets taxed extra I would just pay her the amount she was taxed ? (BTW, I'm in FL)4. How would I sell apps under a company name, I've heard of people trying to list apps and it saying they're real name instead of a company / made up name. There are obvious reasons I'd like to sell an app under a company name, no one wants to buy an app from a company named, for example "Steve". It pretty much set's your app up for failure. Would I have to register all kinds of legal crap just to make it say a developer name like, for example " FunTide Apps".5. If there's any advice you'd like to give to me or info that I didnt ask for PLEASE do, it's greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading, I know the questions are in abundance but I am really excited about starting to develop and have been wanting to do so for a while now !
I've been using Nike+ GPS since it came out on my iPhone 3GS, then 4S, and now most recently my iPhone 5. I have been running the same route for years, but I noticed the iPhone 5 was recording a slightly shorter run (not much just about 0.05 to 0.1 mile). When I looked at the map view of my running route it was obvious that the iPhone 5 was not picking up the final few 100 feet of my run where I get to the end of the path and turn around to go back the same way. I compared it to the map records on Nike of the same route I've been running forever and those route traces clearly show the right end point compared other features on the map. So today I tried something else: I ran to the end point of my route and then paused my run and stood in place for 30 seconds and then restarted the run going back. This time when I got home the Nike+ route map showed exactly the right endpoint and the total mileage was correct. So it looks like Apple did something bad with the either the iPhone 5 GPS system probably to conserve battery life. It must only ping the location every X seconds, so if you are on a route and turn around it's going to miss the end point of your route unless you are lucky enough to hit that location at the same time the GPS pings. Note I'm quite sure I ran the most recent iOS on my iPhone 4S before upgrading phones so I don't think this is an iOS or Nike+ problem. I do not claim to understand the details of how the iPhone GPS calculates position (I think it is also supposed to use an accelerometer for error checking and refinement), but the iPhone 5 GPS location is clearly a downgrade from the iPhone 4S. ThxEd
Sorry for my bad englis but here is a problem . 1 week ago i recieve my iphone , everything was great but i found somthing strange with camera .Camera tilted on 3-5 degrees left when i took my iphone strong parallel to table or smth else , and 2nd in full dark camera tilted on 5+ !!! degrees ( when make photo) is it bug , or maybe it software ? any1 have this problem ?
Since the IOS 6.1 update on my iPhone 5 I've noticed my battery has been severely degraded. I never make it through the day now without it dying - used to be at 35-45% every night when I went to bed. Just now it was at 40% (12pm), unplugged it from the charger at 6:30am and it has been locked and asleep since. How does it drain 60% doing nothing! And it's Sunday, on a regualr workday it would be dead by now. Unacceptable. I've read other posts and have tried several fixes: -Deleted all email accounts including Exchange account and iCloud-Turned off all location services-Updated all APPS and deleted ones I was not using-Deleted Find Friends APP as another post suggested this would help-Re-booted phone after turning it off for over 1 minute-Added back Exchange, Gmail and iCloud email accounts Then I downloaded the xcode app onto my MacBook Pro and discovered the following error is happening as a loop when my phone is locked and should be sleeping: WiFi unquiescing requested by "locationd" Any ideas what this is? This is COMPLETELY ridiculous. I have been a LONG time Apple supporter and it's hard when things like this happen to defend the greatness of Apple products to non-users-seriously....I shouldn't have to spend hours researching a fix for a problem that has clearly affected sever thousand if not hundreds of thousands of people since the upgrade, ALL complaining about the same thing. Common' Apple-you're better than this!! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I have an iPone 5 that I set on a sports bench while playing a sport out side. It was about 30 degrees out. After a half hour of play. I picked up the phone, touched the screen to see if there were any messages and crack, the screen shattered. Not only that but the phone battery was completely dead. Has anyone else had this problem? I have Apple Care Plus on the phone and was told the repair counted as one of the incidents covered by the plan. When I argued the point that it broke due to cold the representative said he understood and wished it could be covered but Apple's policy is to treat all glass breakage as an accident. I am an engineer, not a materials engineer but an engineer all the same. I suspect there is a design flaw with the screen due to its shape and the thinness of the device. It appears to me the case cooled at a quicker rate then the glass and stressed the screen. The screen was further stressed by the heat of the electronics inside. When I touched the cold screen with my worm finger, the added heat as a point source further stressed the screen to its yield point, causing it to shatter. I believe this is a product flaw that Apple should repair at no cost. Please let me know it you have had a similar issue. I did not have the third party screen proctor on the phone. Only the glass. If you have not had this issue, protect the phone from the cold. I had a iPone 4 for years that was left in much colder temperatures without issue. That is why I suspect the shape and thinness of the device can cause the screen to crack in cold temperatures.
This took me a month or two to spot and track down, so I am posting here for the benefit of others. There was nothing about this on Google. I am an iPhone developer, and I eventually diagnosed this by setting "Find My Friends" to geofence my real location and send a message when it spotted me leave. The second I started running an app on xcode (the Apple software used for developing iPhone and iPad apps) it pinged instantly. There is a setting in xcode that sets the GPS to a chosen dummy location whenever you run an app. It can be found by selecting Product>Scheme>Edit Scheme from the top menu, then select "Run appname" on the left and "Options" at the top. The one you want is "Core Location: Allow Location Simulation." Just uncheck that box. Problem solved.
I am facing problems with the accelerometer on my new iPhone 5. When I turn my phone to the horizontal position to watch videos or pictures, there is no change. What do I do to set this right? This has been happening since the last 10 to 15 days only. Can somebody help me with problem? Thanks a Million in Advance. Cheers,Ackraju
Can the screen orientation be rotated 180 degrees on the iPhone 5 as it can be on the iPad? Now that the headphone jack is on the bottom, it's not easy to find a spot for it on a treadmill.
I've noticed over the past couple of days that my native iphone app is not working properly when I pull down the drop down menu or open the app itself. It shows the wrong days, temperatures, and times. For example today is Thursday. It shows tomorrow as being Tuesday, at noon it showed the icon for stars, and it showed the temp as 60 degrees in NYC. The current temp is closer to about 30 degrees. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas?
My Iphone 5 button spins a few degrees left to right what should I do?
Hi! I'm trying to fix a problem I'm having with my iPhone 4S and MacBook Pro. I did manage to connect it initially and set it up with xcode as well as iTunes. Today I have spent two hours trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro and I have so far found the following... iPod 2G - charges from MacBook Pro, Wall Charger, Asus Laptop (works with both my Apple USB cables)iPhone 4S - doesnt charge from MacBook Pro, but does from Wall Charger and Asus Laptop - Asus Laptop running Linux Mint recognises the iPhone as a device with 'lsusb' and you can browse photos etc - MacBook Pro doesn't recognise the iPhone as a device with the 'systemprofiler' equivalent of lsusb - Interestingly, despite the charging icon not showing, the iPhone either maintains charge or very, very slowly charges when connected to the MacBook Pro. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I've tried both the USB ports on the MacBook Pro and no difference. I've tried the 6 portson my old Asus laptop and they all work fine! Thanks for your help!
I had to get a refurbished iPhone 4S a few months ago and the past week I've noticed that my home button is not 100% straight. Its SLIGHTLY rotated about 3-4 degrees to the right. I've also noticed you can take a finger that apply some pressure and press down and rotate back to normal. The button works absolutely fine. After researching this, I see some people have this issue, but its not affecting the performance on the button. So my question is, is this normal? I have an iPad that does not do this. My friend's iPhone 5 also seems to have this, but it doesn't bother him at all.
There’s a basic test you can do to see how accurate the compass is. Please anyone say if you don’t think it’s valid. In Google maps, get a close-up satellite picture of the building you’re in, using the compass feature so that the image aligns north as you turn the iphone. Then place the edge of the phone against one of the walls of the building. The image of the building on the phone should appear flush or square to the wall as appropriate. Repeat the experiment in different buildings to allow for interference. My compass seems to be about 20 degrees out. It’s not that important, but I’d like to be able to calibrate it properly. Is this possible?
Hi! Since upgrading to iOS6, my iPhone 4S, bought from UK (factory unlocked), has been having trouble connecting to wi-fi. Earlier I thought it was due to software, so I reset my software, but finally, it completely disabled the wi-fi option. I checked a few forums where they said if you cool your iPhone enough, the wi-fi will start working again. I tried that and it worked. But still if the surrounding temperature rises over 23-25 degrees, the wi-fi stops working initially (which means it won't scan any wi-fi networks) and if I restart the phone, the wi-fi toggle button would now be disabled. So I would again have to switch it off, cool it to at least 18-20 degrees and start it back again. The wi-fi would start working again. Is anybody else facing the same problem? Is Apple aware of it? Is Apple accepting it as a fault? And most importantly, Is Apple planning to fix it?
My iPhone 5 restarts all the time. Worked fine for about a week, but after pressing use for development in xcode, it started happening. Restore to new iPhone did not help. Anyone with the same problem? - Christian
Anyone else's camera out of alignment? When my phone is level, the image from the camera is twisted out of level by several degrees, enough to be noticeably annoying... Plus the loose rattling sound coming from around where the camera is...
I dropped my iPhone 4 on the ground and now all apps that use the compass such as Maps, Compass and Planets are 90 degrees off. I have restarted my phone and the problem still exist, but I have not upgraded or restored the software. Is this a hardware or software problem? Is there a way to resolve this?Im tired of lookin at my map when it says im going North when Im actually going West ... LOL
Hi, I've seen two posts from over a year ago about this subject, but there have been no resolutions posted. I have an iphone 4 and all of a sudden the screen froze and I could not slide it open. The phone itself is still working (I've gotten text messages, spotify was on, and the buttons work), but the touch screen does not respond to anything. Additionally, the top right corner (front facing) is hot, I mean really hot (it's the corner with the camera lens) it almost burns my finger. Right before this happened, I was going for a jog, listening to Spotify and the phone was probably a little overheated since it's in my pocket while I'm jogging and it's 80 degrees outside, but I've done this before and this hasn't happened. At one point it let me slide it open, but then the screen did that thing when you delete apps and the icons jiggle and have those "X's" in the corner, but then it wouldn't respond and so I shut it off again. I have already "re-booted" twice by pressing both buttons and letting it reboot with the white apple sign, this has not worked. Please respond if you know anything to do as I am no longer under warranty, I am an unemployed recent grad and cannot afford to get this fixed! Thank you soooo much!
Within recent weeks I have set up a provisioning profile on my iPhone 4 and have tested my own apps on it. A few days after I installed a couple apps on my phone through xcode, I realized that the phone wouldn't turn on, even though it had full battery. I held the home and hold buttons to restart the phone and then it turned on with a red and yellow striped screen, as if there were some hardware failure. I restarted it again and it booted up just fine, and a few more instances similar to that happened, failing to put forth a display on the screen. I scheduled a Genius Bar appointment and the Apple guy put my phone into recovery mode to get it out of developer mode to be able to see more of the crash logs. When he tried to restore it, the restoration would fail about 30% into the process, giving us an error code that said that the USB had been disconnected, even though it wasn't. He concluded that there is an internal problem (no physical hardware damage) in the USB receiver of the phone. He also mentioned that he saw other people had the same problem after they had set up their provisioning profiles. I tried restoring my phone on my Mac from backup, but it would also fail at about 30%. I tried restoring it through xcode, but xcode didn't even recognize that it was plugged in, although iTunes could. The really weird part is that I could restore it to its factory settings on a PC (not restoring to backup) but not on another Mac computer (also not restoring to backup), so that I had a functional phone, but when I tried to restore to backup on my Mac after it was out of recovery mode, it would fail half way through, putting it back into recovery mode. On both Macs, it would give me the 1600-1604 USB connection errors. There's obviously something wrong with the backup, but how could xcode have done this to my phone? and should I set up my phone for the provisioning profile again and test apps after I figure out how to fix the phone? Sorry for the long story... I felt the details were necessary. And if this is in the wrong section I apologize for that too; I couldn't find an appropriate section in the DevForums. Thank you for any/all help.
hi after i read this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4976 my question is there any way to add more icons by using xcode or any other way ?
I have the exact same problem! Did they put the accelerometer in upside down or something? Did you find a solution for this problem?
I'm trying to build cURL from sources for the device (armv7). What can I do to get it to build for the iPhone (armv7)?
Hi guys, Need your help and some thoughts around a couple of issues. I've got an iPhone 4S which is still under warranty (through Vodafone contract). From Day 1 I've been facing these issues, but never really took it seriously (thinking Apple products can never be defective!!):a. While playing certain games, the touchscreen often goes unresponsive. Example Fifia Manager, Fifa 12, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Lite.b. The accelerometer also seems to be having some issues. When I play games like Lane Splitter or Temple Run and when I tilt the phone towards right to move the bike/character towards the right, it goes left and vice-versa. Have been through a couple of troublehshooting steps, but not sure if the above issues are hardware related or software related. Troubleshooting steps:a. Restarted the phone (all the above games work well for a couple of days and then the issue pops up again)b. Reset all settingsc. Uninstalled and re-installed the above gamesd. Restarted the games Appreciate if any of you could help me with the above issues. Thanks!
I have a new iPhone4S and the weather app is all messed up. The temperature is saying it's 11 degrees when it's actually about 60. It worked fine until yesterday. Any suggestions as to how to fix it?
I left my phone in the car for about 45 minutes two mornings ago like I do every morning. (I'm in the army and have morning PT) Anyway, it was about 60 degrees outside and not humid or anything. I returned to my car and found that it wasnt responsive and would not turn on. After half a day, I got it to restart, but the main screen says "Iphone needs to cool down before you can use it." It has now been two days and several visits to my air conditioning... I dont know what else to do... It won't stay visible on my computer long enough to restore it.
I had my iphone 4 since August 2011, it came with 4.3.3 ios installed from the box. after 1 month, in the afternoon, the phone overheated suddenly to an extent that it was harmfull to carry with my hands, the battery was draining insanely and after gathering some tips, i decided to perform a clean restore what forced me to update to 4.3.5 ios. and the problem was fixed. in October, ios 5 was released and i updated my device to the new firmware. Yesterday, i was downloading an application from the app store when i noticed that my iphone started to heat rapidly and the battery started draining too. so i decided to repeat the same fix that saved me before and performed a software update what updated my phone the the new ios 5.0.1 firmware but my problem persisted. my iphone now is in a miserable situation. whenever i turn it on, it starts to heat very rapidly reaching almost more than 70 degrees celcius. whenever i plug it into charger it heats, whenever i plug it into my pc it heats, whenever i use it or turn it on, it heats to a harmfull level making it so hard to hold it in your hands. tried 5 times to restore as a new device through itunes, removed all ( apps/music/pics/contacts ) disabled ( location, mail, findmyiphone, notifications, network settings) i tried everything but nothing is working. i have noticed a specific area in the iphone hotter than all the other places, and that located at upper right corner (the camera corner). I dont know what type of hardwar is located in that area, but i doubt its a software issue because my iphone heats if it is turned off and charging. use it. as if there is an electrical closed circuit heating the device whenever electricity runs through it.so advice to solve this problem. i really appreciate any sort of help since i live in lebanon now and there is no apple customer support center in this country. although my device is still on warranty.
MY weather app is not displaying the correct weather. It's telling me it's 17 degrees out and I live in Phoenix Arizona. Any suggestions?
Hi guys, i did the whole xcode via MacBook Pro thing with my iPad 2, that gave me Multi-Touch Gesturing which is sooo sweet....4-5 finger swipe accross apps, 4-5 finger swipe up to show the mult-tasking pane; 4-5 finger pinch-close to get to the home screen........What can beat that?????? Issue is , I tried to do the same steps (via xcode on my MacBook) for my iPhone but it doesnt work on my iPhone..the feature doesnt exist in settings.... , maybe they just built it for iPad? Does anyone know?
My AT&T iPhone 4 runs hot and must be charged 3 times a day. I have selectively turned off bluetooth,WIFI, all mail including exchange and it still runs hot. It seems to be aknown issue with these iPhones. For the first 10 months it worked fine, around OS4.3 it started. I had hoped OS5would solve the issue but has not. I am a heavy business user and havingto charge 3 time a day is a pain. Often it is dead which is bad. I have reset the iPhone also which didn'thelp. My iPhone was out of warranty by 6 weeks when I took it in. Youwould think after purchasing 10 or so IPhones since the first one and having 4,soon to be 5, phones on the account would mean something but Apple would notreplace the phone. I have not used the phone in an hours and attached isa thermal picture of the phone taken from the front. As you can see thetemp is 93 degrees taken with the thermal cameral. The thermal is from the motherboard area bythe chips at the bottom. Does anyoneknow what those chips do so I can figure out the problem? The thermal is well below the A4 chip. Help!
BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10 Dear all, I'm an Italian engineer and iOS developer, who recently bought the brand new iPhone 4S .As most of you who have bought such device , I'm experiencing poor battery performances , even after the latest 5.0.1 iOS update from Apple. Therefore I wanted to try to understand what was the real cause of such bad performances and - moreover - why does it seems that only certain iPhone 4S are affected from such battery inefficiency behaviour. By looking at the Internet, most of the hints lead to the conclusion that a particular mix of Apps - or even just one App ( you may find many pointing at Facebook or Fousquare Apps as culprits for the bad battery performances) may cause this huge power drain. The only way to match such apparently contrasting reports from users all over the world with the fact that at least one certain cause shall explain the power drainage exeperiencied by us all was - in my mind - to find a solution in what the Apps could do to make things go wrong. By using the Apple Instruments tool from Apple Developer suite (shipped with xcode) , I found this interesting thing : it seems that the very cause of battery drainage is a bug in the video card driver , which could be triggered by applications making use of certain iOS APIs. I found this by looking at the energy consumption graphs extracted from my iPhone 4S and comparing them with other information taken from the device. It seems that - even in sleep state - and when nothing should use the GPU, there is recorded video card activity. But the most interesting thing is that it seems the device does not recognizes this activity as a power draining activity, therefore my theory is that iOS can't trigger power saving algorithms to shut down the video card since it can't detect the fact it is consuming battery power. I will attach here a screenshot taken from Apple Instruments tool which shows a 17% video card activity while energy usage is recorded as to be zero, and even when the Display Brightness is exactly zero, there's still video card activity ( near 1%) , but still no energy consumption is recorded by the iPhone. I'm writing all this here hoping that Apple will examinate my theory and - if confirmed - will soon release a fix for this annoying issue. BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10BY:sk0rp10 I think and agree with this resubmit to get apple to take a look and see all the problems with iPohone 4S and hardware and software problems.
Dear all, I'm an Italian engineer and iOS developer, who recently bought the brand new iPhone 4S . As most of you who have bought such device , I'm experiencing poor battery performances , even after the latest 5.0.1 iOS update from Apple.
Hi iPhone 4 users. I believe I have identified a potential issue with IOS-5 and would like to understand from this community if anyone is having the same issue. What I have identified is that when sending photos from your library rotation of photos change from what is visible on the phone versus what has been recieved via email. The test was determined using GMAIL via WEB, GMAIL via Outlook Client, and corporate exchange mail using outlook also. Please note that the reason why I suspect IOS5 issue is that I have replicated the same fault using the iPad 2 features. When you send an email to the similar email clients as listed above choosing a photo image from yourlibrary the photo as displayed on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 matches what was recieved via email,If you select a photo from your library select edit and change the rotation of the file. It prompts you tosave it into your Camera Roll folder. When you select the edited photo from Camera Roll and email itto the same email clients the photo comes through as per the original prior to the rotation. As a resultappears that rotation appears ok on both devices but not when sent via email,If you decide to take a new photo on either iPhone 4 or iPad 2 in landscape with (home button to the left sidewhen holding it). The photo appears in the correct orientation on both devices however when you email themthey come through as 180 degrees rotated upside down,If you decide to take a new photo on either ihone 4 or iPad 2 in portrait with (home button to the bottom sidewhen holding it) The photo appears in the correct oerientation on both devices however when you email themthey come through as 90 degress rotated left,If you decide to tale a new photo on either iPhone 4 or iPad 2 in landscape upside down (home button to the right sidewhen holding it) The photo appears in the correct oerientation on both devices however when you email themthey come through as per what is on the devices. Dilema is that you need to hold the phone differently to get the result you want. NOTE: That when using screen capture photos, they get delivered just fine. In addition I have tested 2 other iPhone 4 all on IOS 5 with all having the same result. An iPhone 4 on 4.3.5 does not have this issue. This may remove hardware issues unless otherwise it is an issue with the Ghyroscope sensors software updates???? Anyone having the same issue please so we can log a call with Apple to get this issue resolved.
I have drop my IPhone 4 into the water(clean) and pick it up immediately and it still work but the speaker doesnt work, so i went to use a headphone and it works. Then i decide to go to my car and turn up the heat to about 25 degrees Celsius and leave my Iphone 4 on the heater fan with the dock adaptor side facing the fan for about 1 hour, after when i came back the phone work perfectly fine, for now atless. Btw when i drop my phone i have the Case-mate, heres a picture i found and it look exactly the same as my iphone 4 case. http://artoftheiphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Case-Mate-Barely-There-iPhone-4-Back-View.jpeg so i am wondering if there anything i should worry about in the future? Please leave a comment. Iphone 4 iOS 4 drop in wate
Hi all,Since updating my phone to iOS 4.3 my accelerometer has completely stopped working. I am unable to rotate my screen and games that require accelerometer do not work. I have confirmed that rotation lock is not on and have restored my phone both from a backup and as a new phone more than once.Things were perfectly fine when I was running 4.2.1, the instant my phone had finished updating though, the accelerometer stopped working!Ive booked an appt at my nearest store for tomorrow but does anyone have a though as to what it might be? iPhone 4 iOS 4 iOS 4.3
I know for a fact that it can be done on iPad, even without the help of xcode. But can it be done on iPhone 4? iPhone 4 GSM iOS 4
Ive been in varying degrees of crippled since the IOS4 upgrade. Now its gotten beyond the pale. At least once a day, my whole phone locks up and I have to reboot - then several of the reboots lock up. Typically its taking me an hour to get back to functionality. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Dual G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)
I just got my iphone 4 a few days ago and every time I plug it into my computer or into an outlet with the wall charger it restarts. I get the temperature warning screen, then the phone restarts. Before the apple logo comes up there is a low battery sign in the screen. About 10 seconds later, the low battery sign goes away, the phone starts up, then about 10 seconds after that I get another temperature warning followed by another reboot.Does anyone know what could be causing this? My apartment is around 50-60 degrees F so temperature doesnt seem to be an issue and Ive already tried multiple cables. Another thing is that I tried doing a restore on the phone. When the phone was in restore mode and was still connected to my computer it was fine. No restarts, which makes me thing its a software issue. I called Apple support and they had no idea why it was happening. I would like to take it into an Apple store but I wont be able to in the near future.Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Or hopefully any ideas on how to fix it? I cant even set it up on itunes because it keeps rebooting. Syncing music or movies is out of the question. Thanks iphone 4, ios 4.2.1 Windows Vista
Itunes upgrade to new version 10.1.2.17, OS XP prof.Iphone 4, OS 4.2.1After updating Itunes, iphone deosnt appear as listed.I can get photos from it via Own Computer -> Apple Iphone, but thats about it.When i got my Iphone, local salesman told nothing about iphones faults, soeverything i´ve been trough with it is really starting to **** me off.Iphone surely is best phone from all, when you hold it in hand. It´s notsome plastic piece of s**t like almost all the other good phones. But.When you look inside it... Here´s what i found out (after purchase)...1. Warranty breaks if used below 0 degrees celsius. So how anybody else than people in california can use this?2. No flash. Okay, it my fault i didnt check this myself from specs... but it really is big minus for iphone...3. Clock is stupid, it is NOT reliable. Made me miss from work so i now use traditional alarm clock and have this great and wise phone next to it. First miss was change from summertime to wintertime and another one at new years eve. I mean, how hard is to get a simple clock to work properly? Even calendar doesnt show weeks from 1 to 52...4. Took this mobileme TryIt-account, for 3 months. I didnt have any use for it so i cancelled it before thay started to charge me. I was so dumb that i approved mobileme account to sync my adress book. Didnt have any clue that after cancelling mobileme all of my contacts disappeared from iphone. I tried re-activate mobileme account to restore all contacts but surprise suprise: it would have cost over 70€´s. Thank god i had iphone backup, a month old though, lost some important contacts but better than nothing.5. Update to ios 4.2.1 failed. Didnt restore from mac neither pc. Totally jammed. Little bit searching and found a clue how to override it and it worked. After this accident, i have lost MANY incoming calls. Iphone says connection failed and thats it. I usually call right back but i assume 40% incoming calls fails. This happens anywhere i go, doesnt depend where i am. Neither am i with 3G or not.6. Today this fishnet weight doesnt sync with Itunes. Everything is checked, ports, xp start-up progs and devices, booted master and slave (pc and phone)...Nothing works. Cant transfer music, vids, anything but download photos.Any cure for this? We got 2 Iphone4´s here with same symptoms...So i really am starting to get ******. I´ll propably have to send this for maintenance, maybe change it if this is monday-version but that doesnt fix all these problems. I wonder why i paid 799€´s for this. Pc Windows XP
A few days ago, i posted a question to see if there were any other iPhone 4 users suffering from the problem of having their iPhone 4 freeze up when operating it within Apples published temperature range between 32 - 95 degrees F.http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12854968On the same day the question was posted on the discussion forum, i also opened a case with AppleCare. I was promised someone from Apple would get back to me in a few days. While i was on the phone with the support personnel, i asked if it was determined that i would get a replacement iPhone 4, whether i would be getting a factory unlocked one, just like what i have now. For those of you who are not familiar with factory unlocked, it means i can use the SIM cards from any GSM carriers when i travel out of the country, unlike iPhones purchased in the US which are all locked to AT&T. Naturally, factory unlocked iPhone 4s cost significantly more than iPhone 4 subsidized by AT&T. I paid close to $800 for my iPhone 4, ordered from the official Apple.com online store for Singapore.http://store.apple.com/sg/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone?mco=OTY2ODA2OQ#Prior to purchasing the factory unlocked iPhone 4, i had concern about getting support back here in the US. I contacted Apple customer support and was told i would be able to get support for the factory unlocked iPhone purchased outside of this country. I specifically asked about the replacement policy for factory unlocked iPhones and was told any replacement iPhone would be factory unlocked as well. It was with these reassurances that i decided to buy a factory unlocked iPhone 4 from Singapore.Anyway, back to the conversation with the Apple tech support personnel. He told me if it turns out that my iPhone 4 had to be replaced, it would be replaced with another factory unlocked iPhone. After waiting for three days and not hearing from Apple, i decided to contact AppleCare with my case number today. The support personnel was surprised to hear that i was given the impression that someone from Apple was supposed to be contacting me regarding the iPhone freezing issue. He told me what i experienced with my iPhone 4 freezing up was normal and that i should either get a case to keep my iPhone warm or keep it close to my body. I told him that was not acceptable since my iPhone 4 was failing when operating within Apples published temperature range. He said there was nothing much he could do about it and i could bring it to an Apple Retail store and have someone there look at it. I then asked him the same question i asked three days earlier: if my factory unlocked iPhone 4 has to be replaced, would it be replaced with another factory unlocked iPhone 4? To my horror, he told me it is NOT possible to replace it with a factory unlocked iPhone 4 here since all the iPhones sold here are locked to AT&T. I then asked him to check with his supervisor. His supervisor got on the phone and confirmed if i do need to get my iPhone replaced, it wont be a factory unlocked iPhone. So i spent close to $800 on a factory unlocked iPhone 4 and it does not even operate in mid-40s weather and i wont be able to get the same factory unlocked replacement?I dont even know whos telling the truth now:1. Before i bought the factory unlocked iPhone 4: Yes, Apple would replace it here (in the US) with the same factory unlocked iPhone.2. When i contacted Apple customer support on the freezing issue: Yes, Apple would replace it with a factory unlocked iPhone.3. When i contacted Apple customer support again three days later: No, Apple would only replace it with an iPhone 4 locked to AT&T.Anyone else with experience getting a factory unlocked iPhone 4 replaced here in the US? Not too long ago, i went on a bike ride in 40-degree (Fahrenheit) weather, with my iPhone 4 in the saddle bag. After the 2-hour bike ride, when i attempted to take a picture using the iPhone, i realized that it had frozen up. Nothing on the display and it was not responding when i pressed either the home or the sleep button. Even when i brought it back to room temperature, it still not was responding. In the end, i had to press and hold both the home and sleep buttons at the same time to reboot my iPhone. The same thing happened again when i went snowboarding with my iPhone 4. It was in the inside chest pocket of my jacket but it froze up after a few runs.I just did a test when it was 34 degrees outside. I left it out for less than 30 minutes and predictably, it froze up. Apple listed iPhone 4s operating temperature as 32 to 95 degrees. For the two occasions when it froze up, i was definitely operating it within iPhone 4s official temperature range.Anyone suffering from the same problem? Or do i have a not-too-well-built iPhone? An unknown error occurred (10).My phone is now in recovery mode. After spending an hour and a half on the phone with an Apple representative, Ive gotten nowhere; Ive been told to call another department which does not open until 11:00 AM EST (8:00 AM PST). I am unsure whether or not I should schedule an appointment at my local Genius Bar beforehand. I would like the issue to be resolved as soon as possible. If anyone can help me resolve this issue beforehand, thanks in advance. iPhone 4 iOS 4
