iPhone device unable to start code 10 windows XP

I just reformatted my hard drive and installed a clean copy of the most recent iTunes. I also updated XP through windows update and have my USB 2.0 drivers installed. Everything else is running fine, including my other USB devices. My phone is recognized without issue on another computer too, so its not the phone hardware.Ive disabled the windows firewall and apple services are started and running. I have not yet installed virus protection. USBAAPL.SYS is installed and being used as the phone driver, but there is still an exclamation point when it appears in device manager as an apple device, under USB. It makes three beeps, shows the exclamation point, and disappears within a minute or so.I uninstalled the device using device manager and reinstalled it and it didnt help. I also reinstalled the driver using the windows driver utility, and chose the imaging device instead of the phone. It was able to view and copy images from the phone but the phone still did not appear in iTunes. Im using iPhone software version 2.2.1, and the phone does not charge when connected although its connected to a 2.0 USB port.Any help would be appreciated, and I have already tried all of the basic troubleshooting recognition steps as listed in the iPhone windows recognition article, here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495Its using the proper driver and recognized by the computer, but it gives me an error when I plug it in and under the driver details in device manager, it says unable to start device, error code 10. Im also using the cord that came with the phone and there is no damage to it. It charges without issue from a wall outlet. AMD Athlon 64 windows XP

Had to restore iphone and now all apps are gone.

I had to do a restore on my iphone as the 3.0 firmware made some lock options go a way. After doing the restore, the lock options are back, but ALL my downloaded apps are gone. The real problem is that, even though I had purchased them on my PC through itunes, they are no longer in itunes either. Whats up with that?!?!? Where are they and how do I get them back?? 3g windows XP Pro

Backing up 3G from 3GS iPhone

I recently upgraded from my 3G iPhone to the new 3GS. However I am sending my 3GS in to Apple because I am having HORRIBLE battery life with the 3GS. I can actually watch the meter go down before my eyes. I tried turning off all the suggested battery drainers but still no luck. I have my old 3G and was gonna use it while my 3GS was being replaced/repaired by Apple. I was wondering if it would be safe to restore my iPhone 3G from a back up of my new 3GS? I know there are other functions on my 3GS that are not available on my 3G and wonder if it will cause problems? I may have to place the hold on my credit card for a new 3GS if this will cause major problems. Any suggestions? windows Vista

Speak Auto-text question this normal iPhone

i just noticed this and was wondering if it is normal or a bug and or how to fix...when i am texting or writing emails, the click sound when typing words is fairly loud, BUT as soon as the predictive text pops up and the lady says the word, her voice is soft and the click sounds get real soft too.. softer than when i was first typing..it migh take a few words after that the clicks get louder, but then again ,as soon as the predictive text bubble pops up and the ladt says the word, the clicks get muck softer ...i didnt notice this before, i have power cycled the phone and it still does this.. has anyone else noticed this.. please help and or advise,, thanks!! windows XP

iTunes in windows XP wont recognize iPhone 3G after 3.0 upgrade

Im running parallels on my MBP with windows XP. Ever since I upgraded my iPhone to 3.0, I havent been able to sync on the windows side with iTunes. Ive read through all the forum postings and tried everything from hard boots on the iPhone to completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes on the windows side.The apple USB drivers are present, but it just wont connect. I have no problem syncing on the Mac side, but my outlook contacts and calendar reside on the windows side.Has anyone else experienced this difficulty or come up with a fix. Thanks. Does anyone else feel like the Headphones that come with the new 3GS are 100% better than previous models. They sound amazing. My iPhone nothing but camera-according to my PC 3G

So after the latest update (iTunes 8.0 and iPhone OS3), iTunes all of a sudden decided to play dumb and has started to ignore my iPhone. Autoplay and something of Adobe however, still recognize the camera within. A while ago I had the exact opposite problem, which I fixed by fiddling around in the device manager. This time however, fiddling around is not possible since... the iPhone does not show up in device manager! I know about the necessary driver file USBAAPL.SYS, and since I thought it was broken, I decided to remove the file hoping it would be re-created for some reason. Expecting my PC to blow up when I reconnected my iPhone, it seemed the situation hadnt changed at all - Autoplay starts up together with this Adobe thingy, and in My Computer I see a fun little camera icon saying Apple Iphone right of it. I am hopeless! New incarnations of iTunes (reinstalling iTunes) keep the problem unchanged. I am even starting to think my iPhone itself is broken.Help is greatly appreciated! windows Vista

Yes, I am another very unhappy customer of the 3.0 upgrade. Battery life is horrible (and yes I have tried all the tricks listed here and every where else). My phone ran great on v2.2.1, wish I would have never upgraded. I would gladly give up the new search page (useless) and the copy & paste to have my smooth running 2.2.1 back. Missed Phone Call Alert Notice-Where it iPhone

Did a few searches, but did not find the answer I am looking for.. only found for MMS / SMS.When someone calls and I dont have my phone close enough to hear it ring, I dont know that someone called. I am forced to physically check the phone each time I a near it to see if I missed any calls. I missed an important biz call yesterday and a voicemail was sitting on my phone for 3 hours before I decided to make a call and noticed one was there.All my past phones will beep letting me know a call is missed. Ive been having a weird syncing problem since OS3 came out. I have a 3G iPhone 16GB. I sync it with my home PC, Outlook etc. At work I use it for music, and charge it via the USB cord.Ive disabled automatic syncing on the work PC (running windows XP SP3) so I can just listen to music without worrying about it trying to sync to my work pc. Ever since OS3 was installed, it still starts an automatic sync when I connect it via USB to the work PC.I manage to catch it each time, but Im wondering what is going on with my iPhone and syncing since OS3? SMS Pop-Up iPhone

Can Apple please please please give us the option to turn off the SMS pop-up notification. It would be really nice if there were a setting to make it show up as a red circle on the icon just like emails. Iphone upgrade has crashed my Iphone and causes blue screen error on PC 3G

I just tried to upgrade my software and half way through my PC crashed. It said a blue screen error had occurred. Itunes now shows that my phone needs to be restored, but everytime I try to do my PC crashes again. This has now happened three times in 1 hour. Stupid O2 rule on iphone 3g replacements when faulty

HII got my iPhone 3g in FEB 09. and I was having a few problems and the aol account password problem. So last week I took it in for repair.I got another iphone back which from what I can make out is a refurb.it starts with a 5 on the serial number.but the point is this iphone did not even last 24 hours. i was able to restore it after it restarted and locked up at apple boot logo. i was playing the game cops and robbers on it at the timeAther the rstore i started the reinstall of apps etc and it restarted part wa into the install. and locked up againThe day after I was able to enter recovery mode again and restored it again. but his time when it came to install apps it did a kernal panic and put up a load of text.I told 02 i wanted a brand new handset as I was not happy the one i got was faulty more than mine was. but i was told NO, 02 do not give out new ones as it was in there terms that they do not.Is it me or am I getting conned I am not willing to pay £810 for what is a secondhand phone.I keep trying to look for the terms on 02 website but it keeps saying its down.And what really stinks is I was told that if I had taken out insurance with 02 i would have got a new iPhone. I have a BIG problem with restoring my iphone 3g. The problem was when i tried to upgrade my phone from OS 2.2.1 to 3.0. Now whenever i try to restore the phone all i get is a black screen with white text in it giving possible location of the error. I am quite sure that it is kernel panic. I dont know if this issue is caused by the 3.0 update. I just recharged my iphone 3g for 3 hours and the battery indicator is at 20%. Not only that, but I notice that to phone was pretty hot. Hey guys, Im having a serious problem here. I cannot connect my iphone to my computer anymore. Im running windows 7 RC. Whenever I plug my iphone in to the USB ports, it flickers constantly, charging/uncharging. I started messing around with it and discovered that I have 0 problems if only 1 other USB device is connected. Problem with phone calls on original iphone

Recently I received a replacement iPhone because mine had lines of dead pixels. I have noticed a problem recently with this new one. When I get or make a call, the person on the other end gets cutout every few seconds and they report I am echoing. When I put them on speaker, the cutting out stops. Stereo Bluetooth-no support for controls and other issues iPhone 3G

I have tried 2 stereo headsets now and both have the same issue. No controls other than Vol +/- are supported. Pause/Play doesnt work and > and < dont work. Its pretty clear that the 3.0 software doesnt support these functions.One Headset is the new Sony BT100CX. The other is Insignia.Are others getting the same results?I also get some bizarre results with the Stereo Headset, like no audio in one direction on a phone call. Then when I switched to iPhone from Bluetooth and hung up, the call actually stayed open! Another time I connected to the Sony BT and got constant static.I spent a long time talking to a nice but not very knowledgeable gentleman at Apple Support who consulted an specialist. The specialist did not seem to know whether these controls are supported or not. It is bizarre that Apple is paying so little attention to bluetooth. Having waited years for decent bluetooth support, you would would think they would want to get it right when they finally put it in, but they leave out VERY valuable features. And they dont even seem to know that they left out these features. A simple pause in the iPhone in Ipod mode is a PITA. With the Bluetooth stereo profile it should be easy. Am I missing a configuration option? It appears that the new Spotlight search tool does not scan the address or notes fields in Contacts nor the notes field in Calendar. This is a very valuable feature I was hoping to get with Spotlight. All buttons (Home, sleep-wake, volume control) are not responding. The screen is blank (in sleep mode).Phone rings when called but can not recieve because the screen still remains blank. iPhone still pairs with GPS (via blue tooth) and able to make calls indirectly with GPS.Message and e-mail tones sound when received but also can not access them. Can anyone tell me what the score is with getting decent ringtones onto your iPhone, on the apple site it suggests that via iTunes, this can only be done in the U.S Store. I just want to get a tune that i have downloaded and use part of it as a ringtone. After updating today to 3.0 on my 3G, the Bluetooth and WIFI is unavailable. When I updated, there was a problem which required me to Restore. After the restore, these items became unavailable. I dont know if this is because of the 3.0 upgrade....I can still send a text to someone who Ive already sent texts too, and I can simply click their name, and continue the text conversation.But if I click the icon to select someone NEW to send to, it allows me to select the contact (or contacts), but I cannot move the cursor to the text area to type!Am I missing something?No matter what I do, I cannot get the cursor to move from the contacts line, to the text area to begin typing my text...Any ideas?Thanks! ringtones overwriting iPhone

i used to have this problem a while ago and just gave up on it but i decided to try again now that i downloaded the new firmware and the problem still persists. when i drag a custom ringtone into itunes to put on my phone it works perfectly fine but then when i go to put another one on it just copies over the first ringtone and then makes itself again. so instead of having 2 different ringtones i have the 2nd ringtone twice and the first one is gone and if i try to do another song it copies over the first 2 songs and then makes another one of itself so that i have 3 of the same ringtones.i have the most recent firmware and itunes .. any help on how to get multiple ringtones? or why this is happening? custom windows XP
