My girlfriend recently broke her iphone 4 and had to get a new phone -- ever since she got a new phone, my iphone 4S is missing hundreds of texts from her.  The last text my phone shows from her is from over two months ago.  At first I thought that only the iMessages were missing, but we have exchanged hundreds of SMS and iMessages in the last few months and they are all missing.  After she broke her phone there were a few days she texted me via iMessages on her iMac -- and those texts are all missing too, iMessages on her computer is also totally messed up.  I can understand why she would be missing a few messages on her new phone since she hasn't backed her phone up in a few weeks, and using iMessages between multiple devices is still glitchty -- but why did my girlfriend getting a new phone cause hundreds of texts to be deleted off of my phone? Currently running iOS 4.1.2 on iphone 4S

Full correct steps should be like this : 1) Select a favourite song in iTunes program to be made into Ringtone...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------2) "Get Info" on that song name and make any 0:30 seconds portion of that song.... (specify "Start" & "Stop" time - under "Options" – to any 30-seconds duration and click OK)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file...(when done iTunes will create a Chime)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------4) to locate the created .m4a file easily, Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Show in Finder" from the pop-up list...(iTunes will automatically point the folder location of the original .mp3 & the newly created .m4a files... keep this window open for later...)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------5) change the .m4a file to .m4r as suggested... (rename to whatever you like but you must change the extension to .m4r)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------6) At this point, the m4r(original) file isn't a "Ringtone" file yet... which we'll need to change now...) (check under "Get Info" > "Kind" :  it's still "Apple MPEG-4 Audio")...1st by dragging that newly changed .m4r(ori) file to somewhere out of that same default folder it was created by iTunes... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------{ this is where most confusions occur, take note here, it gets rather complicated }-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------7) Once it's outside of that folder, Double Click the m4r(ori) file and iTunes will play...(u can stop it immediately...) this is just to let iTunes automatically convert that m4r(ori) file into a new duplicate & places it inside the initial default folder where the original .mp3 file is kept... we kept the window open previously, remember? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------8) locate that duplicate .m4r(new & true) file, in that same .mp3 folder and now DUPLICATE-Drag (press Option while dragging to get the "+" sign) it to the "TONES" folder in your default apple folder structure. (check under "Get Info", this .m4r(new) File's "Kind" should be "Ringtone")//to get to that "TONES" Folder : First locate your iTunes default Music Folder in your Mac --> usually it's in your Default "MUSIC" folder --> Navigate to "iTunes Media"  --> Navigate to "Tones". !! Keep this window open to make the transfer manually !!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------9) Once your duplicate is placed inside the "Tones" folder, double-click on that duplicate .m4r(true) file and let iTunes play, it should automatically place that ringtone file into the "Ringtone" sidebar List in the iTunes program... (check program to see) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------Somehow u needed both duplicates : 1 – inside the default initial .mp3 folder & 1 – inside the Tones Folder which we Duplicate+Drag into... and both must be "Ringtone" – Kind... for this to work.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------10) There you go. Now you can Sync / Delete / Add the whole Ringtone contents to your iphone as you wish. //Don't forget to set SYNC ON under the iphone  "Tones" tab in your iTunes - iphone screen... and click big SYNC button at the bottom of iTunes program & wait for the magic.( Finally you can check inside your iphone "Sounds" settings and hopefully if all steps done correctly, the bloodycomplicatedringtone selection will be there. But now when I restore from my backup the apps are missing but the rest of the stuff are there such as photos and the Apple's original apps Maps, Passbook, etc. How do I solve this? Hi all i had my new iphone 5 stolen back in Febuary, i only bought the phone in december and was gutted when it was stolen, it was stolen of my kitchen table as i had a group of people round that night and am ashamed to say i got very drunk and the last thing i can remember is the phone being nearyly flat and i fell asleep on settee when i woke the next day 3 of the group had left and my phone was gone, i have find my iphone on it and set up to erase iphone when it signs up to wifi or 3g, as of yet there is nothing it still offline, is there any way i can locate it as i thought it had GPS

I backed up my apps on icloud and my pc right before leaving to purchase iphone 5. Many of my apps were missing.

Just before going to purchase my new iphone 5 to replace my iphone 4 which was also fully updated, I backed up all my software on both Icloud and a pc backup.  When I selected the restore from Icloud first many apps with saved data were missing.  I blanked the iphone to new and used the pc backup with the same issue. Is there any way to recover my lost data?

Hi I bought iphone 5 ,  3 weeks ago. Went to a party and by the time i come back to my car , i realized i lost my phone,i asked every one and searched every where,tried to locate through "Find my Phone" but no use. But same night one of the persons participated in the party flew to Mexico, I doubt he might have picked it from my table or pocket while i was not attentive and I also knew that he is of that "kind of person" but couldn`t dare to ask "his" people here as it may bounce back to me if "he" is not the actual thief. My question is : if some one steel it switched it off and took it to some other country , can it be traced by any chance and by any means ?  I have very important and personal/delicate information in it. Can some one please help me ?Thanks

My volume bar disappeared . iphone 4S

My iphone 4s stopped reproducing any sounds over built in speakers, except the ringtone and alarm .The volume bar is missing in the music and video apps. If I plug in my headphones everything is back to normal and the volume bar reappears, when I plug them out & the  volume bar disappears again.I restarted it & cleaned the docking area and headphone jack but nothing works .What else can i do ?

Today I completed a software update for my iphone 5 without backing it up because I did not receive a warning that all my data would be erased and so, did not realize it would be an issue. Upon completing the update, I realized my mistake but figured it was too late to revert the damage and continued with the restoration of my phone to its factory settings. After completing the update, I realized just how much data was lost (including important notes with financial information and images and videos of recent trips around Europe). Now I am desperate to try to recover the data deleted in the update. Is there any chance at all that I can recover something? The notes and videos are most important to me. I am also missing many Messages but that is less important to me. Can anyone please help? Any response is greatly appreciated!

So a nasty smash destroyed both Front & Back of my iphone 4, and since having them replaced the Wifi signal has been really weak. I have seen other posts about screen replacement having to be done by going through the antenna, so something could be missing, or done incorrectly during the screen repair. will definately be taking it back to the shop and finding out if It was put back together properly.  In the meantime I was wondering if it is possible to share my Macbook Pro's Wifi (always full signal in my house) directly to my iphone either using USB cable or through bluetooth. It's not been too much of a problem but it would be nice to use my iphone in bedroom using the Macbooks good signal.  Note: The replacement front screen on iphone has a small gap >1mm between the screen and centre metal casing on the left side just above the Silent/Loud Switch, which can be noticed by light leaking through the gap. The metal casing also still has a small dent between the volume down buttons and silent/loud switch, again nothing drastic 1mm maximum

Multiple iphone 4S issues continuing

I am tired of my iphone 4S already after suffering through issues upon issues with the device. My screen is having issues now where at a moment's chance it goes dim. I have to reset the device to get the brightness back to normal. I've tried restoring without any luck of this resolving. Another gripe I have is that I'm continuing to have issues with apps like Mail, Safari, and other Apple installed apps just continuously force closing. I've been sending emails back and forth on my iphone only to have Mail force close and I lose everything in my message. The phone acts sluggish and performs worse than previous 4S devices I've owned. I've had issues upon issues across multiple iphone 4S devices. The device I have currently is my 5th iphone 4S and even tho its less than a few months old after it was sent to me after multiple filler iPhones of refurb models from the store, I continue to experience issues that make me use my iphone less and less as it becomes more unreliable with the crashes and multiple restores. My closest store is not within close distance so that's made owning an iphone with issues difficult as not every thread on the communities forum touch on half the problems I continue to have. Thankfully at least Siri knows where I'm located compared to my other devices where she always thought I was in Pittsburgh where I picked the phone up at my nearest store over an hour and a half away. Now everything just seems to be more of a deficiency with iOS and the hardware than anything. Obviously there must be something wrong with the latest stocks of 4S devices if my issues are continuing. When I restore I'm always setting up as a new device. I'm never downloading or redownloading anything from my Mac or PC. Everything is just redownloading apps from iCloud within the App Store and having a ton of missing photos in my photo stream. I just don't understand what is wrong with my iphone. I never experienced these kind of issues with my iphone 3GS so its hard to swallow how terrible the 4S has performed with every single device I keep getting. I'm at a loss on what I can do. Does anyone have any tips I should try that Apple hasn't provided me with to fix or at least band-aid the issue long enough till I can upgrade with my carrier?

It instructed me to do it as a new phone and then do a buckup. So I set it up as a new phone.3) Updated firmware on 4s4) Restored phone to my iphone 5 backup. Now everything went well except Im missing some apps. So I have 2 questions: Q1) What apps come with the iphone 4s, what I cant get out of the app store? Q2) How do I get them back? I am missing iTunes and Music already that I know of and I want to use the phone for music of course. Thanks, the help would be great

First issue Itunes will not sync with iphone 4s

i updated my iphone 4s to 6.1.3 and since then I cannot sync or "drag & drop" any music to my iphone.  I have done a hard reset, restore to factory settings, deauthorize / authorize and pretty much anything else that involves checking and unchecking and as I expecting nothing worked.  Am I missing some little detail because everything thing worked just fine before with itunes that is.  I cannot do any wifi sync since my phone is also greyed out with wifi and bluetooth.  If anyone has any other suggestions please entertain me because I am at a loss here.

The devices in question are an iphone 5 and a 3rd generation iPad, both run the latest iOS bits available and I am signed in with my Apple Id on both devices.  The behavior I'd like to experience is:the settings (Stations and Podcasts within Stations and particular Podcast settings) set on one device just show up on the other device.both devices show the exact same played, partly-played and unplayed podcasts in their stations. Isn't this the way things should "just work" in the Apple world?  The reason for asking is that my two devices do not seem to talk to each other and cannot locate a way to get them to synchronize. Thank you,  eugen

To my knowledge, once the battery has expired, it cannot be retrieved using the "lost device/find my device" application.?? Is this correct? If so, is there another way to find this lost iphone?

I have an iphone 4S, about a year now.  Yesterday I downloaded a Facebook update and went to sleep.  Wake up in morning and Facebook app is missing from phone.  It was on my front page, next to a blank spot, and now there are two blank spots in the bottom right of my front page.  Here is what I have tried: -Resetting phone (home+on/off button).  Reset 3-4 times, nothing.-Reinstalling app.  Looked up Facebook app in app store, and shows as being installed.  So there is an "Open" button where there would be an "Install" button if I did not yet have the app.  I click the "Open" button and it does nothing, like it's a dead button.-Searching for Facebook.  On the iOs "Search iphone" bubble (swipe right on home screen) I search for Facebook.  Nothing shows up but contacts.-Synching on iTunes.  App doesn't show up on list, tried a synch, reset phone, nothing worked. I have 111 apps installed across 7 pages (with a few blank spots scattered across).  I do not and never had "Restrictions" enabled.  I have not changed any other settings anytime recently.  I have 4 gigs of free space on my phone. Any guidance here would be appreciated...thanks!
