Apps cant get input from Mic Phone Can iphone 3G

I have an iphone 3G (MB500X) and i can make calls perfectly fine and people can hear me,yet when i try and use any app including,Voice Memos (apple App)Skype (third Party)Visual Voicemail (apple app)Shazam (third party)The mic doesnt register any sound at all.If you BLOW into it it gets a spike but not registrable sound recording.If you use the headphones, everything is fine.i dont understand why. does the iphone have 2 mics? one for apps and one for calls?is anyone else having this problem, i kinda noticed it after 3.1.2 (7D11) was installed.How to fix this, i have tried restore, reset settings, its annoying, i want to use skype. iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.2

HELP iphone Freezing Missing calls Missing Texts 3G

Hello All!I am having by far the strangest issues with my iphone 3G. It started yesterday when someone was calling, usually you swipe left to right to unlock and pick up the call. Well the slide was non-responsive, as if it didnt recognize my finger. Then after the call rang through the contacts picture and name stayed frozen on the screen. After a minute of trying everything I eventually had to hold the power key and the home button on the front to reset the phone. That happened 4 or 5 times during the day, other times it answered fine. Also Id go to my recent calls to call someone back, and select their name, it would highlight in blue showing it was selected but would freeze, not dialing the contact or allowing me to scroll up or select any other contact. The only way to break loose was to hit the home key and get back to the main screen. It also happened with my text messages, after Id type the whole message when I hit send the button would go blue but not actually send the text and it would lock up, again only being able to get out of it by hitting the home button. Same issue with my contact book freezing when I selected a contact. On top of that, I talked to people later who said they sent me a text but I had no record of their text, or people who said they called yet I had no record of their call.All of these issues were intermittent, the phone would be screwed for 10-15min Id set it down, come back to it in a couple hours and it was fine. Itd work for a couple hours then just flake out again. I work in computer repair myself so obviously I tried to think what was the last change I made to the phone that would cause this. The last thing I did was download an app from the Apple store, but that was two weeks ago. Just the same I deleted it, however the problem still persists. I am very confused, and I cant find anyone else with the same problem, has anyone else heard of this or have any idea whats going on? 3G iphone OS 3.1.2

iphone 3G wont let me go online on anything other than 3G

my iphone 3G (which I had unlocked by O2 a few months back) works fantastic when I have a 3G signal - which is great because 99% of the time I do. However, on Edge or GPRS it doesnt let me go online at all, and says Cannot activate cellular data network - the APN is correct and I have confirmed this multiple times.Im using a Three SIM card, and havent had a chance to test with any other card yet - but it certainly worked before anyway, even with my Three SIM at one point.Is this likely to be a fault on my phone or my network? Hey,I honestly cant remember if we ever purchased AppleCare....we bought so many things when we purchased our iphones last Feb. The issue we have run into is that my volume is no longer reducing during phone calls and I can no longer go into vibrate only mode...when I checked my serial this morning, it showed that we did have a warranty, I thought awesome, we can get this checked out but after I set up an appointment and everything, I checked again in about 30 minutes to see like the exact warranty to see if I could see what all was covered and the page was telling me that my warranty was expired...I am very confused because I cant remember if we purchased it or not and all of our paper work and things from the iphones are in storage... I am not keen on buying AppleCare for this phone since we are getting ready to upgrade to 3GS this summer....my question is does that happen often and do I need to cancel the appointment, because I dont think we can afford right now an out-of-pocket expense on fixing this phone...especially if seeing the service techs. cost. I just bought an iphone last Friday. I am having trouble when I go to check my voicemail it calls it automaticaly rather than a list the screen goes black and it wont let me bring up the key pad to erase or hang up the call then the phone freezes for several minutes but you can still hear the voicemail menu being repeated. Is it possible to get the iphone announce the name of the caller? It would be very helpful when you listen to your iphone through the headphones, and the device is comfortably tucked away in your pocket, then someone calls you and depending on who is the one calling you would pick up the call or ignore without pulling the phone out... Incoming calls close running apps iphone

Whenever I get a call on my iphone, the current application would close and the incoming call screen will come up. Even if I dont pick up the call or send it to voicemail, my application would be closed after that and I have to reopen, which is very inconvenient. Is there any way to have incoming calls appear as some sort of background so that the currently running app stays active? Or the only solution to not interrupt apps would be to put the phone into Airplane mode so that no calls can get through?Thanks! 3gs Windows 7

Help for former BlackBerry User iphone

I had a BlackBerry until a couple months ago. The button in the upper right hand corner of a BlackBerry is a sleep button but on a call it is a mute button. The button in the upper right hand of a iphone is the sleep button...except when youre on a call it is the hang up button. When Im listening to conference calls and I want to go to mute real quick I tend to hit this button...and ta da! Im out of the call. Even after a couple months I just cant get used to not having this as a mute button. And really I kinda prefer having that button there because I can quickly mute to cough, ****, etc With the iphone if the phone is up to my face I have to wait for it to sense Im not by the phone, turn the screen back on and then push mute. This is probably the only thing I miss about my BB is the mute button.Is there anyway to configure this button to be a mute button and not a hang up button??? Not being able to make calls on 3G network after upgrading to OS 3.1.3 iphone

HI all,I upgraded my and my wifes iphone 3G phones to OS 3.1.3 last night. Since then, neither of us can make a call on AT&T 3G network. The same issue is occuring on both iPhones. Interestingly, while not being able to make any calls, the internet is working fine even though we see no bars in the upright corner. On the other hand, if I turn the 3G network off and use Edge network (2G) the bars come back and I can make call on both phones. Is there any such reported issues for 3.1.3? It is pretty weird. I wonder if it is the OS or the 3G network causing the problem. AT&T told me that they are aware of this and trying to resolve it. Is there anybody else experiencing this issue? Over the past week my iphone (which has worked perfectly for 6 months) had stopped making or receiving calls. my phone will work one minute then 24 hours later, i get 15 voicemails and text messages at 1 time from people that i have been trying to call me. Its as if i have no reception,then it will kick back in all of a sudden. The same goes when i try to make calls. I try to dial and it either freezes or just says cant connect and returns to home screen. Its getting worse as the days go on. Hi there, I have a UK iphone on the O2 network, and Im going to be spending a few weeks in US and Canada. I dont need to use the iphone for calls etc. as I will be using Skype on it when a wifi network is available. I want to make sure I dont get charged anything whilst abroad (other than any charges that may be made for accessing wifi networks). All,As you all know, on the main screen the Phone App icon displays the number of missed calls in a little red circle. This is the total of missed calls whether or not they left a message. To find out the number of voicemails, you need to enter the Phone App. I would like to see the number of voicemails at a glance on the main screen for at-a-glance convenience.It seems so ergonomically critical -- to know if youve got a message waiting instantly! So yesterday it start with my iphone telling me that I needed to connect to iTunes and restore because I couldnt make or receive calls. I reset it, and seemed OK. I later tried to play doodle jump, which crashed upon opening, so I reinstalled it to no avail. I discovered this morning that wasnt just doodle jump, but all 3rd party apps. It also went through stages of not turning on, telling me to restore it, and still having an image on the screen but there was absolutely no brightness to it, and instead of the screen going black when I press the sleep button on top, I would get a bright white screen. Giving up on resets, I came home from school and restored it, and it worked perfectly. Now its 5.5 hours later and it just froze, unfroze, and had no brightness. I really only have one complaint about my iphone 3G, and that is the fact that the mute switch on the top left of the phone just bumps itself on and off while in my pocket. So one night I was texting and a certain part of the screen stopped working. The only way I can describe the part of the screen is by saying it is if you look at the regular texting screen, from the top of the spacebar and up to the top of the texting letters does not work on the ENTIRE iphone. Cant Send or Receive calls and Text Messages in my Local Area iphone 3G

This morning, 6 miles away from home my iphone worked well. When I arrived home and tried the same, calls and texts failed. There is a cell tower less than one mile from my home and the same thing happened last summer and several weeks ago. AT&T is telling me that I need to replace my phone because when I took the SIM card out and put in into my old RAZR phone it worked. I just put the SIM card back into my iphone and all is well. AT&T claims to have a problem with the local cell tower, but because my RAZR worked, they are blaming the iphone. I dont think they are correct. I have restored the iphone, updated my OS, turned it on and off several times in the process.my iphone is out of warranty and I cant get an answer from Apple for free. Has anyone had this problem? Hi,I have spent hours searching the App store for an App that can record my telephone conversations. I found 2. Recorder only works in US and CallRec.me works in most countries but in a most peculiar way; At the same time you make a call you also make a second parallel call to a server center and then you merge the two calls, via your phone. The server center apparently records the message and saves it. Any solution the means having to pay for two calls internationally or anywhere (I travel a lot) must be wrong. You cant start recording in the middle of a conversation without a pause while merging the call to the server center in. !#€/€()/€%#!#Please advice me in what to do. Isnt there any good recorder out there?I need the following (it exists for Nokia):1 - Be able to configure what calls to record (i.e black list/white list, incoming or outgoing or both).2 - Be able to record incoming or outgoing calls on the fly without have to start yet another App and take time to fiddle around. I mean it should all work in the background automatically.3 - A simple configuration; Record all calls I would like.Since I dont know in beforehand if a call I receive or make will be threatening or for any other reason worth recording the App most be simple to use, automatic and preferably incorporated into the standard dialing App. Of course you could make a new App for dialing your calls facilitating the recording of the call. Hello. my iphone keeps locking up when a contact on my phone calls me. This only happens when either a contact calls who has a picture assigned to them or has multiple numbers under a single name. I did not try applying pictures to my contacts or applying multiple numbers to a single contact since the 3.1.3 update. Im not sure if that update fixed that bug but I dont want to risk it since I always miss the call when those types of contacts call since the phone locks up. Reluctant Dialling UK-O2 iphone

Forgive me if this has been covered, I have done several searches to no avail.Dialling a number from my iphone contacts doesnt usually work at the first attempt, and sometimes not the second. With perseverance it will eventually call.I have restored the iphone, removed and replaced the SIM and most recently changed the phone itself from a 3G to a new 3GS (which is lovely). Initially I thought it was not pressing send for long enough, though in all cases the calling screen is presented, and the call history shows three or however many attempted calls I have tried.I suspect this is a phone issue, and not a carrier issue as different phones on the same network are fine.Might it be the international prefix? All of my contact phone numbers are saved as +44 (or as appropriate) etc. Ive tried removing the +44 for UK numbers which initially seems to be a sort of cure.If this is the problem, I dont recall the earlier iphone software tripping up over this, perhaps one of the updates has broken what was fine before.Any thoughts out there? 24"iMac 3.06 Mac OS X (10.6.2) 2.53 15" MBP, Classic II. iPods various. iPhone3Gs 32gb.

When someone calls me, my iphone automatically recognizes who it is if I have the person as a contact. But when I receive a text message, the persons phone number plus country code shows up, and not the contact name.
