iphone 4 falls into DFU mode all time

Hi!got my iPhone4 a little longer than a month. Since approx. two weeks it falls into DFU mode everytime i lock it and wait about 10-15 minutes to unlock it again. i cant tell the exact amount of time it takes to fall asleep - it may take longer when email arrives in the meantime...the problem doesnt appear then the phone is wired to a computer or jack. It is also hard to get out of this mode. sometimes it takes me 3 or 4 times pressing both buttons for 10 seconds to reactivate it.i tried to reinstall it (also without restoring from backup) several times - using two different macs. no change. Whatever - the phone did not drop or anything. except the described issue it is in top condition. is there anything else i could try? is this a known issue? or is my only chance to send it back to apple?thx in advanceT. iPhone4 iOS 4

water damaged screen but still working iphone 4

I got my iphone 4 water damaged. now i turned it off and left it buried in rice for a couple of days. the 2 water indicators are still white. my screen has liquid, specifically, coffee marks inside it. but the speakers are working, camera is working. the only problem im having is my home button is not working so great and my battery is just plain useless now. and whenever i try to sync my ipod(music, videos) it wont work. but i was able to sync my contacts and messages back.my question now is, would apple replace it under the warranty?or am i qualified for the OOW thing? since it is still working. im not sure if you have to have your phone completely dead due to water damage to be eligible. iphone has gone DEAD

Hi there, my iphone switched itself off yesterday for no apparent reason! I took out the sim card & put it on a heater in case it had got damp - after about 30mins i put it back in & the phone came on but oly for 20mins or so. I cant switch it on since. It didnt get wet - i didnt drop it - it just stopped working.....Its only 8months old! Did anyone else experience this? Dropped phone white screen iphone 3G

I recently dropped my iphone 3g and all I have is a white screen. I can still answer calls and what not, I just cant see what I am doing. The Apple store said they could fix it for 100$ with a screen replacement. How could I do the replacement myself? Do I need a new screen? Or a new LCD? Windows Windows XP Pro

iPhone4 or iPod Touch

I need more space for music so am debating whether I should get a 32G or 64G iPod Touch or an iPhone4. (I currently have an 8G iPod nano.) It would be nice to have phone and music on one device (iphone) but I am guessing theres pros for having separate devices. What are your recommendations? I also hear there will be a new iTouch announced on Sept.1 so definitely will wait til then to decide. Call Drops and Terrible Bluetooth Call Quality iphone

Hello,I just picked up and iphone 4 in the New York City area two weeks ago and in general like the phone very much as a data device, though I am having huge problems with calls. I know that AT&T is not the best provider, however as a business user I would imagine that:1. A call drop rate of 50%-60% is unacceptable and may be due to other issues. When on a call sometimes driving and other times stationary I hear a double beep and see call failed on the phone. This happens a lot, as I mentioned on 50-60% of my calls and when the antenna bar shows 3+ bars.2. Using a Plantronics Voyager headset, one of the best I have ever used, sounds terrible, dropping every other word, when the phone is a few feet away.If there is not a fix for this that this forum can offer, I have to question the viability of this phone for my business needs.I am open to any and all suggestions.BP iphone 4 iOS 4

If I drop ONE MORE CALL iphone 4

Ok I know its my first post but I need to vent... I had an iphone 3Gs and that was the best phone EVER. It never dropped a call, everything worked perfect... well where I work bought it for me. They giveth and taketh away... gave me an iphone 4 and gave my phone to someone else... This phone is the PITS! I want to literally stomp it with a sledgehammer!! It drops every call... then you cant call back... Ive done all the upgrades. I bring it into the store, in 2 weeks it dropped 150 calls! Its a work phone, it rings a LOT. Well they give me another one and guess what?? this one is WORSE. Put a case on it.. USELESS! That did nothing. Now on Monday I have yet another appointment with an Apple store and pray they give me yet another one that oh I dont know...works?? Is there ANY way to go in and request a downgrade!?!? Im completely fed up at this point and to top it off since its a work phone, everyone around me is getting ticked off. Its like walking around with a big toy... Hi All,How are you doing?I just got my iphone 4 few days ago,the battery usage drop 1% every 4-7minjust by doing very light surfing on safari or immobile, reading forums and textmax only 3 tabs.I got all those that will drain battery turn off, push, fetch, 3g, even brightness is on 25%any of those unnecessary is all off.Im not sure am I getting a good performance on the battery since I jump from iphone 2G.I got around 10hr 35min of usage, 12hr plus of stand by on my first cycle.Checking all around the net Ive found many users with stand by dropping heavily on battery.Fortunately for me I do not have such problem whenever its on stand by the battery hardly move at all.Not knowing is this normal for iphone 4,or maybe its just not up to my expectation.However, I do find that theres quite a lot of iphone 4 replacement issue mostly reason cause by a bad battery.Any suggestion ? mbp 2.8Ghz(mid 2009) Mac OS X (10.6.3)

I just wanted to post this topic as Im curious if the Apple monster will even read this or address them. I hope I get surprised. Apple makes, hands down, the most high quality of devices, but they tend to have it there way more than ours. I guess thats what makes them Apple. Without further ado, here is my list of bugs Ive noticed and I hope youll add to it. I would just love to see Apple address these:1. Performance issues with Podcasts and multiple-tasking. Youll hear stuttering on occasion, sometimes often while playing a podcast or even music. Ive noticed this at random and also at times when the phone locks or when switching out of the iPod.2. I just noticed this one: if you take the time to write on this exact site, you will find yourself getting lost, as sometimes the text goes on, and the screen doesnt follow it. Suprising that even on the iPhones home site, it cant perform the way it ought to. Youll also notice that below here, its asking me what hardware Im using and what OS. It should be clear what hardware Im on and even what OS Im running. Brilliant, considering this is Apple.com, I selected the iphone 4 section, and the browser can report the os version. Oh wow, I just lost my text again and had to press the expanding icon on the bottom right of this pane. Also, sometimes i lose my text permanently where I should be able to scroll down to find it but there arent scroll bars... The attention to detail of the aesthetics of the phone cant be matched on the outside, but again, leave a lot to be desired on the inside.3. Echo for the remote callers own voice when my phone is plugged into a stereo through the headphone jack. Even when my volume is so low, I cant hear it.4. While heavily texting, if I exit out to the home screen after/during the send of the text, my phone will freeze for a good 60-120 seconds. If I press too many buttons, trying to get it to respond, it will reboot itself instead of coming back to life. Again this only happens (very seldom) when Im sending texts to multiple random people and I abruptly go home while a message is being sent (or maybe received?).5. While playing music, the quality will often drop drastically when entering a game or application that has sounds. This has only happened in two places so far. While talking on the phone, if I go to play music on the iPod to hear in my headphones, and when entering Bejeweled 2 Blitz with the in-game music off and the sounds on, while iPod music is being played. I do not believe this is Bejeweled at fault. Try it, make a call and try and play some background music in your headphones. The quality drops to a very unacceptable level.Thats actually all I can think of for now! Please fix these issues Apple and I will gain a good bit of respect, knowing you heard and acknowledged this. Battery percentage issue iphone 4

When I charge my phone to 100% overnight (wall) and unplug it, the battery literally drops to 99% within a minute of usage (email checking etc). It happened this morning and then I rebooted the phone which knocked it back to 100% for an extra 10 mins or so till it went to 99%. It also seems to drop fairly fast...I tried exiting all my background apps which helped a bit but not really. restoring the phone, etc...Ive got push email on, wifi on, push notifications on, Bluetooth off. Right now Im at 88% battery usage with 1 hr 5 mins usage (browsing) and 1 hr 22 mins standby. Does this seem weird?Ive restored with backup, restored as a new phone and same problem. I was thinking it might be a rogue app but Ive exited everything - an app couldnt cause battery drain just by being installed could it? Dell Windows 7

Touching iphone drops reception with case

ok so i notice that every time I touch my iphone the bars would just drop to like 3 or 4 even with the case on. I even picked it up by wearing some gloves with the case on and it still would drop some bars. If i set it down on my desk i would get 5 bars or 4. So im wondering if i should go to apple and get it checked out to get a replacement. I also notice is when im in the car driving around i would get 5 bars for a few min then after a while just drop to 2 bars then back again to 4 or 5. So i would greatly appreciate you guys on what is the best thing to do for my phone.Thanks!

I purchased a new iphone 4 on Aug 24 from an AT&T store and that evening downloaded the app to order my free case. I got an error that said my phone isnt eligible. According to the Terms and Conditions my phone IS eligible!!! Well, after being on the phone with tech support for 2 hours (talked to 3 different people during that time), I was told that Id receive a call on the evening of the 25th with info on when the case would be shipped. I didnt get a phone call so I called back on the 26th. Ive been on the phone with Apple for an hour now (have talked to 4 people) and still dont have this resolved!!! What is going on here? Something seems fishy in Appleland.Also, the app program give a phone number to call if there are questions. Ive been told by 4 people at Apple that the number is wrong! I have an iphone 3G and I dont really know what happened. one day it just had a white screen and is not recognised by my computer. however I do get the beep from the computer to tell me that it has connected. what I have tried:1. i was going to restore it but its not recognized so cant do that2. tried to reset it with home and power buttons. all it does is give me the apple screen and then back to the white screen and off.3. tried a hard reset where i hold the home, power and up volume buttons. i get the same result as a normal reset.4. Reception issue help plz iphone

I got my iphone 4 a few days ago and i know about the service/signal issue that it has been having every time you hold it. So i was just testing it out on my 3g case just to see if my bars would drop. It stayed at 4 and 5 for a while then it dropped to 2 bars and stayed at 3. Once i took it out of the case and layed it on my desk i would get all my bars back up. I already bought a case from some site so im waiting on that to see if it will work and fix it. And i also notice that when i went into walmart today to do a bit of shopping i would only get 1 bar and maybe 2 (phone is in my pocket) so just wondering if anybody can give me some info or help me out would greatly appreciate.Thanks

Battery drain in standby iphone 4

My new iphone 4 is experiencing battery drain in standby. It was in standby for approx. 8 hours overnight and went from 74% to 65%, a drop of 9%, which means its dropping at a rate of over 1% per hour while in standby. To equate to Apples quoted rate of 300 hours of standby, it should not drop more than 1% in 3 hours. I have drained and fully charged the battery once. I have 3G and WiFi enabled, all push is off, location & BT are off. This seems unreasonable to me. Are others experiencing this and do you know of nay fixes or should I replace the phone? Windows XP

Stop App from Multi-Tasking iphone 4

Does anyone know how to stop or actually close an app with out it continuing to run in the background. I started the white Noise App and I have it set to a timer. So I have an iphone 4G. Just yesterday I started having problems with my Phone app & my Contacts app & my Calendar app. When I tap on any of them I just get a white screen for about 10 seconds then it kicks me back to the home screen.I tried rebooting. Problems with your iphone4 battery life READ

I will make this short and simple as I too have been experiencing battery problems with my iphone4 since I upgraded to 4.0.1Now here is what I THINK is going on, I believe there is a BUG in the wifi software in IOS that tends to drain the battery at a rate of 5% every 10 to 15 minutes or so if you are using the phone for surfing. And if you are not doing any internet surfing at all, it still drops the battery at a similar rate. Sadly what I have found out is that this doesnt stop even when the phone is on standby. Two hours of my phone just sitting there, I lose about 5% plus. So if I leave wifi on and go to bed, my phone will lose close to 25% of battery over night. However once wifi is OFF, the phone will only lose about 2 to 3% over night. Ill say thats a HUGE difference. What I also have noticed is that it doesnt matter if I have notifications & push ON or OFF, the battery still gets drained at the same rate as long as wifi is ON. Once I have realized the culprit, I went from getting a mere 4 to 5 hours of usage to 8 to 9 hours. So, I suggest that you all only turn wifi on when you NEED it. Once you no longer need it, just shut it off. This is what we have to do until apple fix this problem because it seems like having wifi ON is constantly working the wifi antenna even when the user is not using the wifi connection at all. Apple claims a whopping up to 10 hours of internet surfing over wifi. How can that be when my phone will lose over 30% of battery in 10 hours just on standby with wifi ON? By the way, all my tests were done with my phone on EDGE only. If you have done this and it worked for you, drop a line here cypher red pill

Cannot sync contacts with Outlook 2007 iphone

I've googled how to do this and everything points to a method I have already tried that has not worked.It says I should go to the info tab of my iTunes / iphone sync options and check Sync conatcts with, and choose Outlook. The problem is my drop down is empty.I have tried reloading iTunes, used latest version, used an older version. Nothing has made Outlook appear in the dropdown list. I'm running Outlook 2007, Vista, and iTunes.Any suggestions would be appreciated. I tried to fix this for a client and have only limited access to his iphone so I need a solution that works.

4.02 update killed my iphone.

I installed the new 4.02 update today and there was an error message at the end of the install. My phone was wiped and now I cannot restore at all. I have tried numerous times to restore the phone and it keeps bringing me back to the same place: Picture of the ITUNES and white cable. iphone 4 keeps trying to tether

Anyone else having issues with the phone constantly (yet, intermittently) trying to tether? I keep seeing the spinning wheel in the General>Network settings next to the button that you normally would press to Enable Tethering. I cant help but feel this is a software issue. It seems to be affecting battery life, to the extent that I had the phone with me all day and managed to bring the battery to 65% between 7am and 5:30 pm despite only 2 minutes of calls, 20 minutes with apps that I would expect could drain a battery, no facetime, 3 photos taken, 10 minutes viewing photos, and approximately 5MB of data use (mainly e-mail and a few manual facebook updates). Also, I had the 3G turned off most of the day. Doesnt seem like stellar results to me given my light usage.Any shared experiences? MacBook C2D 2GHz (white), Titanium G4 1GHz, iBook Rev. Even though Ive been very careful, my iphone 4 has still managed to get some scratches. Ive been tempted to try some scratch removal products or even maybe good ole white toothpaste. Bronze or Aluminum Which Metals More Shock Absorbing Scratch Resistant iphone 4

Hi. For the iphone 4 which Ill get at the end of August, Im considering Otterbox Defender or Ballistic HC which I know will protect it from drops done by iFixYouri but it takes the design away. Im also considering the DRO Concepts Carbon Fiber case but itll be available in September 18, though I dont know if carbon fiber could absorb shocks nicely. I need the case in time with the iphone 4.Im considering cases from Exovault which are expensive but I think it has that balance of protection like a Defender or Ballistic without taking much of the design from the iphone 4. They offer solid aluminum and bronze casing (front and back without plastic screen). Is bronze more shock absorbing than aluminum? At 3 to 4 foot drop, would this protect the glass from shattering, since its solid bronze/aluminum? Is bronze more scratch resistance than aluminum though? iphone 4 Memory Issues

I have recently been experiencing what I believe to be memory issue with my iphone 4….I am thinking they correlate to my updating to 4.0.2, but I can’ be certain. So here is the problem….I will be functioning within a App and it will “Express Exit”, the App will show on the Multitasking list and when I launch it, it starts where it left off…but immediately closes again. Once it starts happening with one, it happens with all…until I restart the phone. Once I restart the phone, I can operate normally for a little while…but depending my usage it may not last long(usually have to restart between 4 to 6 six times a day). I am very anal about leaving a bunch of stuff running in Multitasking, if I am not going to get right back in the App then I completely close it. I have downloaded the FreeMemory App and checked the amount of available memory when this behavior occurs and it is indeed very low(somewhere in the 40s). Also, as a test I have restarted the phone and immediately launched only the Free Memory app and my available memory constantly trickles down to the 40s and then the Free Memory App closes. Now, I know the Free Memory app is going to take some resources…but I don’t think it would explain that drastic of a drop. Is anyone else having similar issues? Tonight I plan to reset my phone back to factory settings and set everything up again…hoping I just have a glitch. I will post the results. iphone 4 iOS 4

Giving old iphone 3G to friend with ATT service already

Want to give my friend my old iphone 3G. She currently has a different smartphone but is on ATT. She has fulfilled her current contract so shes just on month to month. She has unlimited texting and data with her current plan. Looks like her SIM card will fit into my old iphone 3G. Will she be requited to sign up for new iphone specific text and data plans or be able to keep what shes got now? New iphone in January 2011

Reading on alot of website about verizon releasing the iphone in January 2011, athough a UK customer so this would not affect me but along with these posts some say that the iphone released will be a mini-upgrade to resolve some of the iphone 4s problems.Also they mention that this will be when the iphone 4 white is released along with the black counterpart, with all the minor upgrades, not enough to make it the iphone 5 but just little things to sort out antenna problems and what notdoes anybody know if any of these rumours are true, or if the phone is just being released as the normal iphone 4?Thank youJames Alienware Windows 7

4.0.1 Battery Life iphone 4

I just upgraded to 4.0.1 last night and my battery life is horrible today. Multitasking Problems iphone 4

Whenever I have say 5 apps running in the background, and they have been sitting there for lets say and hour, when I go to close them out, one (usually Phone.app) will make my whole phone crash. I will press the red X, and within 30 seconds, the phones display will drop out and the phone will crash. Doe this happen to anybody else? this happens to me EVERY SINGLE DAY!And as for things Ive tried, I have restored my iphone 4 about 4 times to factory settings so far with this last one as setting it up as a new phone. Adding iphone Case Not Resolve drop In Signal antenna issue

A couple of days ago, I received the case from Apple and snapped it on to my iphone expecting, as Apple promised, that the signal drop due to the grip of death would be resolved. I hate to report that attaching the case made no difference. after a very short period, the signal droped from 4 lines to 2 lines. When I changed my grip, the signal went up. When in white iphone 4 going to come out

There are many loyal Apple customers who have PATIENTLY waited for apple to release the white iphone 4. I get that they are having issues with the paint and the antenna...okay. Fix it and please give us a release date. I just dont understand why no one from Apple has made some kind of CLEAR statement explaining what in the **** is going on... first it was july, then end of july, now its August and now Im just ******. Sad thing is I have written Apple emails since this occurred and still no response. I was under the impression that Apple was a unique company who appreciated its customer, but now Im convinced otherwise. I know this probably wont get a response, but it sure makes me feel better. 2nd Hand iphone HELPPP 3G

I brought a second hand iphone from a friend and it had the 3.0 OS version and today I updated it to 4.1 and now I dont have no reception at all, I rang up o2 and on their system the sim is in working order and activated in the handset but I dont get no signal bars at all on my iphone. I have tried restarting it, restoring it and everything else I can imagine but still no luck so what should I do?Help People !! Macbook white Unibody Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Help 3G bricked after software upgrade iphone

I have a 3G 16GB which I updated to the newest OS release today (after being asked by iTunes). Now the phone is kind of bricked showing changing/moving grey lines on a white background whenever started. I have put the phone in recovery mode with success and iTunes then asks me to restore the phone which however fails with an error 1611. Same result on multiple attempts. Has anyone seen the same or can advise on how to restore the phone? iphone 3G iOS 4

Hard reset caused phone to get stuck on black screen with white apple iphone 3G

at least for about 25 minutes?I have gotten used to resetting the phone every few days to remedy the lagginess issues I have been having since the 3g upgrade to ios4, and a reset always takes care of it. But what is going on when it is stuck on the reset screen?There was also a strange happening where the touch screen refused to work, the unlock slider was not functioning and another reset took care of it!do ANY Apple marketing people look at this feedback? I am picturing Steve Jobs reading some of the negative feedback over his crystal ball with a sinister laugh knowing that people need to buy an iphone 4. Mac Pro
