I have been trying to update my iPhone's software for the past few weeks due to my current provider not being found. (A bar that says "Searching" is always at the top where my 3G should be.) Yet whenever I try directly from my iPhone, it always end with an error message. So, yesterday I tried updating directly from itunes and I let it download the new update and all that. However, after it finished trying to update my iPhone, it put my iPhone in a recovery mode and I've been trying to fix it eversince. I can not access my iPhone, all it has is an icon saying to connect to itunes. I've tried troubleshooting, checking my software, updating my computer etc. yet it still leaves me with this message: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)." I've looked on the apple site and I've made sure my security is up to date, my computer is up to date, my itunes is up to date and that I have restarted my computer. I am very irritated and I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do because my warranty is over with apple and I still have a few years on my contract. This problem has become relatively frequent with the replacement I've received from apple. Please post all suggestions or ideas to help with my problem, Thank you for your time. -Applefanatic23

My battery drains VERY quickly I'm having to plug in twice day iPhone 5
Hi Its becoming incresingly annoying that I'm having to charge my iPhone twice a day. Its always 100% at the start of the day and come around tea time its down to around 30%. I do use it for whatsapp but thats about it during the day and after having an iPhone 3 & 4 I've never experienced such issues. I was told the battery life was improved with the iPhone 5? My main point is that its not always been like this and with having over a year left on my contract I need to nip this in the bud before it gets any worse. Things I have tried so far (To no avail) Closing all apps that are open.Lowered my screen brightness (I can only just see it) Any suggestions as neither of the above two have worked. Cheers Gareth

I upgraded from the 4 to the 5 about a 2 months ago, in the beginning I had no problem with the battery life, then about 3 days ago i would start the morning with 100% then drive to work and about an hour later my battery was completely drained. I have spoke with the people at the 1800myiphone 3-4 times they ran a battery test, I updated the latest software, have backed up and retstored. Still having the problem. we checking everything that was running and did all the normal checks and balances. Primarily is draining when I am at work and not even on the phone. I have nothing pushing and never have. strange that it just started in the last 3 days. they agreed to replace it but either have to due with out my phone for 5-10 or more days or have a $695 hold put on my credit card to get a new one expressed delivered to me. NOT HAPPY and VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!

First issue Itunes will not sync with iphone 4s
i updated my iphone 4s to 6.1.3 and since then I cannot sync or "drag & drop" any music to my iphone. I have done a hard reset, restore to factory settings, deauthorize / authorize and pretty much anything else that involves checking and unchecking and as I expecting nothing worked. Am I missing some little detail because everything thing worked just fine before with itunes that is. I cannot do any wifi sync since my phone is also greyed out with wifi and bluetooth. If anyone has any other suggestions please entertain me because I am at a loss here.

Hi all, So just got two slightly paranoid questions, but as my iPhone 5 is brand new I just want to be sure. Battery lifeSo I had a 3GS prior to purchasing the 5 and I just feel that the battery life is less than ideal. My battery lasts 1.5 days (with my turning off the phone when I sleep). Is this about right? Low to medium usage, i.e. chatting, surfing a bit, checking emails and social media with WiFi on and GPS off and most notification off and medium brightness and 3G turned on. Is 1.5 days right or should it last longer? I am pretty sure my 3GS lasted longer when I first bought it. Unresponsive buttonsI purchased the phone about a week ago. An iPhone 5 16gb. I haven't dropped it and this far the only way I have charged is to let it drain fully and charge it back up to 100%. It has worked fine this far but today something slightly odd happened. The phone had gone to sleep and I needed to check something but the home button was completely unresponsive. I pressed it a number of times but absolutely nothing happened. I also tried the top button, again nothing happened. Then I tried holding the top button because I thought that I might have turned it off accidentally. Again, nothing. The little "you need to charge your phone" screen didn't even come up. I might add that the phone had 23% juice at this time. Then I tried to connect it to the charger and the moment I plugged in the phone it came back to life. It has worked fine since. My question is, can anyone explain this? Is the phone broken somehow? What could have caused it? As I said, I haven't dropped the phone at all, and I've only had it for about a week so this seems very odd indeed.

Iphone 5 battery life great after ios 6.1.3 update
Hello Folks, Created this thread so that people know that not every iPhone 5 has a bad battery issue. I got the iPhone 5 32 GB Unlocked version last week and i was going through all the forums checking the battery issues people had since updating their iOS version. I saw that a lot of people have issues with their battery which put me on backfoot for upgrading the OS. Then too i took the leap of faith with the thought that it is "Apple!!" a premium brand.. And i am glad i did. Now i know a lot of people had issues with the ios 6.1.3 Upgrade. But for me it was smooth. When i got the phone i was by default on 6.0.2 and battery life was ok. It was les than ATT Galaxy S3 i had before as in they battery used to die in 14-16 hours which was not bad i would say. Since i upgraded, it was on 100% in the night at 12:30 AM. I woke up, and it was still 100%. So stand by battery is super awesome after the upgrade. As for the usage now, it is 4:30 PM here in NY and the battery is about 55%. The stats that i see is 17 hours stand by time and 6 hours usage. So i beleive my battery life is improved. Also my LTE is off as we dont have it in Long Island. In the night I was on Wifi, I am in office now and wifi is disabled, listened to an hour of music on spotify, notifications are off for all the useless apps, mail frequency is 1 hour, use whatsapp a lot. Thats it. So atleast for me, the upgrade was a beneifit. And the battery life has difinitely improved. PS: I have not created the thread to poke people with battery issues, just an FYI to people that not everyone is having battery issues. Peace....
Wifi greyed out iPhone 4S
Since upgrading to OS 6.0.1 my wife's Iphone 4s will not connect to home wifi. On checking Settings, the wifi button is greyed out and cannot be changed. Since upgrading OS this had been intermittent. I also have a 4S & no problem. I have tried resetting network settings, all settings, switched on and off many times, soft reset with the home & power button and still no resolution. Does anyone have any solution please ?

Dropped iPhone 5 in water trying to restore now error 1603
On Wednesday night I was on the toilet playing on my phone. After I was done my phone slipped out of my hands and in to the toilet. I quickly grapped it out of the toilet before the toilet flushed it down and immediately started drying it off. Now I was a little bit drunk that night so I wasn't completely in my right mind. I started to elevate it and lay it on a towel. I also knew from before that rice would help with drying it off. Not knowing at the time it had to be uncooked, I cooked a bag of rice for about 8 min and drained as much water from the rice as possible and let my phone sit in it for about 10 min. Well then I learned it had to be uncooked. So I put the phone in uncooked rice after it sat in the cooked rice for about 5-10min. I let the phone sit in a bowl of uncooked rice for the whole night and the next day at about 12, I took it out and tried turning it on. It thankfully came on, but needed to be charged, so I charged it via the wall for about 15-20 min. After checking it I saw that the apple logo was being displayed so I let it stay like that for about a couple minutes. Seeing nothing else was happening I started pushing the power and home button down at the same time to restart it. That did not work either and soon I was getting the message to plug into iTunes, which I did. Once I plugged it into itunes I put it into recovery mode to restore. That was working just fine. It started to extract the software, verified the restore with Apple, and started to prepare it for restore. Well after 1-2 minutes of preparing i got an error message saying iTunes could not restore it because of error 1603. I looked up this error and it says something is wrong with my windows operating system. I disconnected all USB drives, closed everything down, and restarted my laptop. I tried restoring again and the same error message came up again. So I decided to let the phone sit in rice again for about 24hrs. Now I have tried to restore it about 6 times now and keep getting the same error message. I have also recently taken out the SIM card and tried restoring it but the same error message and the same point in the restore process. Anyone have any tips? I have looked into taking it to Apple, but my only option would be to buy a refurbished iphone. I wouldn't mind doing that, but I don't want to spend a lot. I originally purchased the 64gb white iPhone 5 from Apple and am not sure if they charge more for the 64gb model.

I've been using Nike+ GPS since it came out on my iPhone 3GS, then 4S, and now most recently my iPhone 5. I have been running the same route for years, but I noticed the iPhone 5 was recording a slightly shorter run (not much just about 0.05 to 0.1 mile). When I looked at the map view of my running route it was obvious that the iPhone 5 was not picking up the final few 100 feet of my run where I get to the end of the path and turn around to go back the same way. I compared it to the map records on Nike of the same route I've been running forever and those route traces clearly show the right end point compared other features on the map. So today I tried something else: I ran to the end point of my route and then paused my run and stood in place for 30 seconds and then restarted the run going back. This time when I got home the Nike+ route map showed exactly the right endpoint and the total mileage was correct. So it looks like Apple did something bad with the either the iPhone 5 GPS system probably to conserve battery life. It must only ping the location every X seconds, so if you are on a route and turn around it's going to miss the end point of your route unless you are lucky enough to hit that location at the same time the GPS pings. Note I'm quite sure I ran the most recent iOS on my iPhone 4S before upgrading phones so I don't think this is an iOS or Nike+ problem. I do not claim to understand the details of how the iPhone GPS calculates position (I think it is also supposed to use an accelerometer for error checking and refinement), but the iPhone 5 GPS location is clearly a downgrade from the iPhone 4S. Hello everyone.. I'm very confused here; I own an iPhone 5 which I have on O2. I bought it outright from the Apple Store in Belfast and just transferred my Business Sim to a Nano Sim and use that in the phone. I am going to the USA soon (Miami) to be a leader at a Summer Camp for 9 weeks and need to use my iPhone while I'm over there. I have been researching AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verzion all for prices, but I'm still very confused.. I want to call back to the UK for a low price, as well as use the web for whatsapp and FB messenger etc. Will not be texting back to the UK. I need to know the answer to these questions: 1. When I put my O2 sim into my iPhone (which was bought sim free) does it lock to O2?2. What carriers will support the UK iPhone 5 for LTE? Would like to try this feature out as Northern Ireland hasn't been hit with this yet (probaby never will until 2040 ffs) I understand Verzion will not work as it is CDMA.3. What carrier would be most suited for using in Miami? 4. What would the best price plan be (e.g. is there such thing as a Sim-Only monthly rolling contract or prepaid plans with only sim cards?) Headphones jack problem iPhone 4
Hello I got a really strange and annoying problem regarding my iphone 4 audio jack. the problem is whenever I play a sound the right channel of the headphones play's music really scrappy and low quality, especially the bass. but on the left channel everything works as it suppose. I am starting to suspect that it is a hardware because even after a clean restore it is the same and if the volume level is under half'ish then the right channel will barely work untill the volume is raised to 3/4 of the max volume making it seem more hardware related. thing I tried: clean IOS restore checking the jack with other headphones/stereo systems all of which gave the same results (right channel scrappy and left is clear) I also tested the headphones themselves. thanks Tal

Dear all, Ever since I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS6 (which apparently in many aspects is a bad decision), I discover my contacts are emptied from time to time. It is apparent in occasions when there are apps needing to access the contact list (with instant messenging apps like whatsapp, Line etc, or even the Contacts App itself), and once the disappearing happens, I need to wait the contact list updates (downloads) itself with the entries from iCloud. I also believe the same happened in the background when I do not notice it, because I usually set different ringtones for certain people in my contact list, when the list goes empty and is filled again back from icloud, I will lose all ringtone settings. So I believe this irritating bug must be happening few times everyday sometimes without me noticing. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, and would like to see if Apple would be able to do something about it. This is annoying because if I input a new contact on my phone through the contact app, when this bug happens, I will definitely lose the newly added entries. So to be safe, now when I need to add a new contact, I have to do it on a computer, accessing icloud.com and add directly to the icloud records. It's the first problem I experienced with my iphone for the years I have used the iphone products, but is also a critically fatal one...

Ok Guys .. Something wierd happened today to my 4S. All my notifications/alert are coming ONLY through 3G and NOT over wifi. To name few apps (iMessage, Twitter, ESPN ScoreCenter, whatsapp, etc) Up until yesterday I was able to get notifications over wifi just fine. But starting today no more notificaitons over wifi. When I turn on my 3G and all of a sudden I get alert on my phone about iMessages, tweets, scores, etc. To rule few things out: 1) I tried resetting my router and did forget the network thing on my phone but still having the same issue.2) I'm able to surf on safari just fine.3) DND is off! Never turned it on!4) This is not due to phone losing wifi connection when locked, because I tested it. I waited after unlocked the phone and surfed on safari for few mins to see if i get any type of notification, but nothing until I go and turn on my 3G.5) Tried the phone on different wifi network without any luck. Anyone else having this issue? or got fix? Thanks!

Dear Contacts Journal Support Team, Each time i have been trying what you put up for me,i always delete The Application Completely,then go to iTune Apps Store to re-download it. I know the apps store will not give me an old version,that is why i do not use my Mac or iMac to replace the application however this has also been updated on my Macs. I reiterated in my message yesterday that,it is not that what you asked me to do is not working or i did not follow your instructions into details. I did follow every steps you stated. The end result is that, WHEN IT REACHES DATA MIGRATION,THE SCREEN WILL BE BLACK OR LIGHT BLUE BLACK,WITH A WHITE SCROLLING LINE THREAD ON THE DEVICE SCREEN,MEANING MIGRATION IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. As i have said,this application has beautiful features but to make it work and Sync with either iCloud or Dropbox is a problems. I mean,about 8 devices can not have these problems at a go while other applications link with either iCloud or Dropbox are working on all these Devices. I can list all these for you if require as apple iCloud Team do check this as well. The iCloud restoration you sent me does not work,but i think this has teach me a great lesson as not to rely fully on an application like this anymore. I count my loss,my time and STRESS,i can not but let you know how i feel and my pains,frustrations and disappointments on this application. When I receive any message in whatsapp it shows on the screen in lock state but when i open whatsapp on my iphone4s, it takes 10 secs to connect ( by showing 'Connecting' with the round wait sign) and then displays the new messages. Can this be resolved?
What happened to my iPhone 5
After I dropped my Iphone 5 about 4 days ago I'm experiencing problems while I want to make outgoing calls. Wifi is still working 3G connectivity is working my iPhone is able to identify my service provider and I am able to answer incoming calls my only problem is that my Iphone is immediately dropping my outgoing calls which renders me incapable of calling someone. As I was checking my iPhone I realized that as I shake it I hear a small sound in its upper half that is next to the lock button I held the device firmly and made sure neither the volume buttons the silent ringer nor the lock button were moving and I still heard the small sound.I tried rebooting my device several times and nothing happened. I also tried my line on another phone and it worked as it should I( I was able to make outgoing calls) What do you think ? I really need your help

My wife's iPhone 4 has suddenly decided to delete all her contacts. She didn't connect to iTunes or do anything out of the ordinary. The phone kicked her out of a few applications back to the home screen, so she switched the phone off and on again. On checking contacts, she saw the entire lot were gone. No idea if they were gone before the switch off or not but all seems very strange. Subsequently updated to the latest OS6 to see if that would help (which it didn't!) but was running OS5 when the problem occurred

My iPhone 4S stopped connecting to wifi about 3 weeks ago. I set up an appointment at an Apple Store. In trying to find out what the problem was, the Apple tech offered to check the firmware for the antenna. No luck on the wifi. So, I headed back to the office to run a restore and get back to work. Wait a minute! After restoring, I realize my phone has 6.1 on it. There's a difference between "checking firmware" and "installing a softare update" - or so I thought. Now that my phone has 6.1, I can no longer get any of my corporate email. IT only supports up to 6.0.1 at the moment. And as an added bonus, my battery is now draining like crazy! I do not need this and I certainly wasn't asked about installing 6.1 on my phone! No wifi, no email, gimpy battery. Now what do I do?

Iphone 5 screen is repeatedly unresponsive at the edges. This has ruined my enjoyment of this device. I cannot play my games properly at all. The first iPhone 5 I obtained through contract I went straight to Apple store complained and had it replaced only to discover exactly the same problem manifest in the device. If you try to slide the screen with icons below the level of the last row of icons it doesnt respond. This has contributed to the Iphone share price demise. Together with MAPS its simply unnaceptable that a company with billions of Dollars in cash could not implement proper maps OR mis the production checking for the less respnsibve screen. People have come to reply on these devices it is poor shoddy work to implement this slackness in a product that led the world so wonderfully in previous versions, now look.. Samsung have caught up and are now the biggest phone maker in the world. That is not something Steve Jobs would have acepted.

Battery issues with iPhone 5
I use my iPhone 5 in this way: about 40 minutes talk time, alarm clock, texting fewer than 10 a day, checking weather, downloading a couple of songs per week, and browsing iTunes once weekly. Listen to iPod music about 20 minutes a day.I charge the phone to 100% every other day, but it loses battery power very quickly, even when just sitting. Location and Bluetooth are off, as is push notification. Is this just a flaw in the phone?

I recently purchased an iPhone 4s when it was running iOS 5.1.1. I eagerly updated to iOS 6 as soon as it was available. I had been seeing slightly less-than-optimal battery life of 5.1.1, but iOS 6 delivered simply terrible battery life. I have scoured through many forums and found nothing that worked. I have even tried restoring as a new phone, but with no results. Before I go ahead and make a Genius Bar appointment, is there anything I can do to fix this? I have reset all settings, turned off bluetooth, turned off push mail and notifications and location for unnecessary things, including system services, disabled Siri, turned down brighness, gone through charge cycles, done hard reboots, and removed unnecessary syncing services. Yet my battery still fails to deliver. Can anyone recommend anything else to try? As a reference, I get about 5-6 hours of light usage (checking email, checking news briefly, maybe watching a few YouTube videos) with 10-12 hours of standby on a good day. There have been days where I got up to 8 hours on very restricted usage. On bad days, when I throw in 15-20 minutes of games and more heavy video, I get 4 hours of usage maximum. I got far more than this on my iPod Touch 4G running iOS 5.1.1, so I was rather startled by this performance. If this is normal, and the iPhone battery in general isn't too good, please let me know. However, I have a strong feeling that this is unusual. If no solution presents itself, I will be going to see the Genius Bar.

iPhone 4 connected to wrong charger now will not charge at all
Hi, My iphone was happily charging until my bf decided he needed the charger, so without checking with me he switched the charger for the one that came with my now ancient apple ipod (the type with the odd shaped connection to the plug - firewire?). As soon as he did it he knew something was wrong, we switched straight back to the original charger but now the iphone is not registering itself as being connected to power at all. Can this be fixed, either by myself or a repair service or does he owe me a new iphone?
iPhone can't restore error-1 at last second with iPhone 4 GSM
Hi all. I've already tried asking this elsewhere, but haven't really had much luck with help other than "it has to be a hardware issue". So, here goes. Note: it is far out of the warranty date, plus it's physically damaged. I have an iPhone 4 (16, I think) that was working aside from cracks in the screen. I saw it working a few months ago and it was given to me (it hasn't been used since). When I turned it on, it showed the iTunes and usb cable (indicating it needed restoring) so I tried restoring it (invalid build error I think). I kept trying again and again but got the 16xx error a few times. I have tried two different computers, different OSs, (one that didn't even ever have itunes installed) and I keep getting the same -1 error at the very very end of the restore. Early on, I was able to get it to boot and get to a passcode screen but then it said the iPhone needs to be restored after I unlocked it. It's almost like it's restoring fine and then suddenly it doesn't verify at the end with apple's servers or something. My apartment's wifi goes through an isp with security of some sort, I'm sure. Could that be an issue? I feel like it almost restores it but then it fails right at the end. Here is one of the logs--this one is the latest -1 error. It is abridged since most of it wouldn't fit. 4gs crashes iPhone 4S
My iPhone 4S keeps crashing. Writing texts, checking emails, using web browser, and sometimes when making phone calls I have intermittent ability to hear the caller.The phone sometimes gets very hot and some days the battery drains very very quickly even without much use. I've tried restore; deleting facebook; turning off most notifications and location services. What should I do?
