hey guys can u help me out... my brother presented me an iphone 3g this year.. he bought it from us.. but recently i updated my iphone to new software update... now its locked.. it showing me itunes symbol n usb cable pointing towards itunes symbol... its asking me insert the sim which i got with this mobile.. but unfortunately i lost that sim.. so how can i get my mobile back to normal..?? how can i unlock it?? i stay in mysore, karnataka... 3g problem powering on iphone 3G

i went to use my phone and noticed it was powered off. i plugged it in to charge it after a failed attempt to power on. the apple symbol appeared as tho it were powering on then turned itself off, only to go back to the apple screen seconds later. this process repeats never getting past the apple screen. ive tried resetting it,checking for water damage, and several chargers and no change. Anybody experience this besides me? iphone OS 3.0.1

Phone resetting in middle of phone calls iphone 3G

My phone keeps resetting about two minutes into a phone call, the phone go to the apple logo and look like a hard reset. Also sometime the screen shows the battery with a power symbol as if the battery is dead, but when the phone resets the battery is still good. Has anyone had the same problem and how did you fix it. Let me start by saying that it took me several years to finally buy my first Apple product. I refused to buy the hype and thought that people were insane for standing in lines for hours just to purchase Apple’s latest releases. After knowing people who had iPhones, and loved them for many years, and having spent plenty of time playing with them, I broke down and bought a 3GS. I was immediately hooked and never looked back. The phone was the most awesome piece of technology/gadgetry I had ever owned. I have since converted other nonbelievers to loyal iphone enthusiasts. After my 3GS experience, and some serious problems with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer, I seriously started considering buying a Mac and utilizing Apple for all of my software and hardware needs. Unfortunately, that was until my 3GS was stolen and I decided to upgrade to the new iPhone4. Now I find myself questioning whether or not I want to still have anything to do with Apple at all.The initial problem I had with the phone was dropped call after dropped call. However, the larger, and much more upsetting issue, I now have is getting someone to acknowledge that the dropped calls are an issue. Besides the fact that I feel Apple has down-played the issue, I have grown even more upset with the attitude of the salespeople at my local Apple Store. After voicing my unhappiness in experiencing more dropped calls than successful ones, I am talked to as if it is all in my head. Instead of someone, anyone, saying that there is a problem with the phone, they say things like, “Try turning off your 3G before making calls, the bumper case should help the issue, maybe we need to replace your SIM card, and the network is experiencing increased call activity.” And the stories and excuses go on and on. I would have never expected Apple, who I truly believed only put the most superior products out on the market, to have released a phone with so many flaws. If it was Microsoft, however, I wouldn’t have been the least bit surprised. what bothers me even more are the people that are so blinded by the hype, that they swear it is not a big deal to turn off their 3G, or put a case on the phone, or to exchange the phone multiple times for other faulty iPhone4’s. Because I believe that everyone deserves second chances, I am not abandoning Apple just yet. I am returning my iPhone4 for another 3GS until Apple gets their act together. Until then, I am doing my absolute best to talk people out of purchasing the new iPhone4. While I have already successfully stopped several people from buying the new phones, the most amazing one was my very own father—a man that works in the Silicon Valley and has waited in Apple lines three times: once for the first generation iphone, once for the 3GS, and once for two iPads he purchased (one for his wife and one for my sister). He is extremely loyal to Apple, as are most of his engineering, Bay Area buddies. However, he has friends that are just as disappointed with the new iPhone4 as I am, and says that he will not be purchasing one.Apple, please stop telling us that there is not a problem and that there are a series of simple things that can be done to help alleviate the problems we are imagining that we are having. If this issue is not handled properly—meaning a total recall of the faulty devices—I am afraid that you just might find your loyal customer base declining year after year. I had a horrible experience with Bank of America over ten years ago and have never gone back to them since. I am not alone in feeling this way about other things. It only takes one experience for people to swear off a product or company, never to return again.Can anyone else tell me if they feel the same way or if I am all alone? PC iOS 4

How can I delete music from iphone

I want to delete some music titles or albums from my iphone but it doesn´t work as described in the manual. There I read:Connect your iphone to the pc, click the triangle left of the symbol to show the iphone´s contents. Then choose i.g. music and mark the titles you want to delete. So far so good! Horrible iphone 4 genius bar experience

Hello all,I wanted to share a recent experience I had recently with my iphone 4, since I have not been able to find a suitable customer service center to speak to. A letter of the situation will be sent to BBB and also Cupertino.About 2 weeks ago my iphone 4 started malfunctioning, about 2 days after it turned off and never came back on. I went to the local ATT store and they could not help me but I had them forward my calls. They said I had to go the Apple store. The next day I went to the Apple store in Rancho Cucamonga and had a 2 hour wait. Once I finally got to the genius bar there was no attempt to fix the phone, I got the feeling they knew what was wrong and the fix was a new replacement on the spot. I was happy about that, all he did was swap the SIM cards and he said it would activate in a couple of hours.I left on a business trip, and after various calls with Apple and ATT they informed me that at the genius bar they had voided my SIM card instead of activating it. The only way to fix it was to go back to the Apple Store.Yesterday I visited the Apple Store in Brea, California. They informed me that the wait was about 24 hours to which I explained my situation and that all I needed was a new SIM card and re activation (it takes less than 5 Minutes). He said he couldnt help me and I told him that if had to wait that long it would be to return the phone, he said he would get his manager. The Manager turned out to be one of the most insensitive and unprofessional individual I have ever encountered. He did not cared to hear my situation and instructed me to take the next appointment at 6:10 pm the next day, I said I wanted to return the phone immediately. He said that the I would HAVE TO TAKE THE SAME APPOINTMENT TIME TO RETURN THE PHONE! I felt like exploding on him but my 5 year old daughter was next to me and wasnt worth it.I have an appointment tomorrow in Rancho to return the phone. Ive reactivated an old account with a previous carrier and even as I typed this on my Ipad I have such a bad taste for their customer service I feel sick to my stomach. Apple has great products but such arrogance will only make you lose more customers. IPad

Reception Dropped Calls with 4.0.2 iphone 4

I upgraded to 4.0.2 a couple of days ago and since then I have dropped 7 calls. In the entire month and a half leading up to this I dropped 2 and 1 of those was my fault (covered up the lower left corner before I knew better). I spoke with my wife and a couple of friends and every one of them has also noticed this problem. Now I want to know if everyone else has noticed this or is it just a local thing (Jenison/Grand Rapids MI area).As a side note my batter drains a heck of a lot faster since I upgraded as well. Facetime Waiting for Activation Issue When switching S cards iphone 4

I have an unlocked iphone 4 from the UK. I first had an Orange France SIM card installed and all went well... Facetime was working fine. However, when I came to Dubai I inserted my local (Etisalat) SIM. The phone was functioning ok, except for Facetime. When I tried to switch it on from Settings, it kept saying Waiting for Activation.I am an advanced user. So, all basic things are checked: WiFi, Tried to reboot phone, tried hard reset, even tried Total restore, tried different WiFi network, SMS working, MMS working, 3G working...etc. I even tried the solution on Apples site (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4246).... Still no luck.Few things to note:1) I have a friend who has iphone 4 on the same Etisalat network, and his Facetime works fine. The only difference is that Etisalat was the first SIM he put in.2) I tried to switch back to my Orange SIM while still in Dubai, and at first, Facetime showed Waiting for Activation, BUT when I rebooted, it was active and working fine... tried to insert the Etisalat SIM after that... and back to waiting for activation issue.3) Did same above with my AT&T SIM ... and got same result as with Orange France SIM4) Tried to call 888-facetime and they just referred me to the case referenced above, and the simple answer that your carrier may not support it! Thanks!!! I told the guy I know someone on the same network working on Facetime.I think the problem is that Facetime needs to be re-registered from the Orange # to the Etisalat # and for some reason that is not happening smoothly to the Etisalat #... However, how can I get that done... I cannot even find an email address to send to apple regarding this problem...If any of the Apple Tech staff reading this please respond!!! THANKS. iphone 4 iOS 4

Another iphone stolen by fedex

My poor mom was coaxed into ordering an iphone 4 by me and it shipped last week. Its been showing as arrived at the local fedex facility for 4 days, but no phone and no scheduled delivery. Fedex just says it will probably come tomorrow over and over while apple says its not their fault since they shipped it through fedex with the tracking number to prove it. Fedex says they can run a trace on it and apple will issue a refund and let her buy a new phone, but not until the trace is complete.This is like the ps3 fiasco whe fedex employees were stealing them and selling them on eBay. Fedex doesnt seem to care very much and apple has taken quite a elitist status towards this. Between this and apple shipping my girlfriends laptop to an incorrect address (their fault) and denying responsibility i am starting to think apple is becoming the evil corporation i used to think ms was. My familys last few run in with apple customer support have been horrid...among the worst in the business. Their stance seems to be suck s to be you. Its not out problem. Good luck with that with everything now. Maybe the antenna ordeal has made the call support centers thich skinned or something but apple would not be where they are now if this was their support all along,Hoping for resolutions to both my current issues. Phone not charging while using IHeartRadio iphone 3G

So I have my phone plugged in to the USB on my comp, the charging symbol comes up, but when I am running IHeartRadio, it either is not charging, or is getting run down faster than it is charging. It seems to charge fine with other programs running. Does I Heart Radio use that much battery that the charging cannor keep up, or is there something else going on? Build Windows Vista .

Hi, As it says in the title I updated my iphone 3g (which was legally purchased and never jailbroken, at the mac store in Russia when I lived there).My school gave us new macs a few days ago and I set the computer to my itunes account. I downloaded the new 4.0.2 and I have the itunes logo and connect to itunes....itunes says this iphone is damaged contact your local mac store. I now live in China so they will not work on any iphones purchased outside of China.....how can I fix my phone, I have forced a restore and deleted files and tried logging in as a different user etc...but no luck. Need help please iphone 3G

Hi Everyone,Im a bit frustrated right now. A couple days back I decided to downgrade from 4.0 to 3.13. No problems, things went smooth as silk, but being an idiot about this stuff, didnt know I was supposed to back up all my data, texts, pictures, and most importantly plants vs zombies saved games. Yep, I lost it all. Being the swift thinker that I am, I thought no big deal, I can just upgrade back to 4 and restore from all my saved data. Heres the challenge: Itunes on my win 7 rig no longer recognizes my 3g iphone. Made an appt to go to the local genius bar and of course the phone worked fine on their macs. The genius was nice enough to put 4 on my phone and send me out the door. As Im walking out the door, I go to the app store on my phone to see if I can just download all the apps Ive purchased directly on the phone. That didnt work, I was only able to get the Google mobile app. I get home and itunes still does not recognize my iphone. I do some digging and it appears there are some issues with my motherboard (P55, in a Dell XPS8000) and itunes. After dinking with things a few too many hours I finally decide to just use my old laptop to load up my now empty iphone. Itunes on the laptop recognizes the iphone and I authorize my computer for the store and think Ill have a couple hours to kill to download my apps. . . Ugh! Only one ap has downloaded, google mobile. My guess is I somehow wiped out the record of my other purchases even though they show in my purchase history in the app store. My pleas for help are: 1. Is there any possible way to get my pictures back that I had back in 3.1.3?2. Any way to get back my apps Ive already purchased. 3. Any success stories with P55 motherboards, Ive tried running itunes in compatible mode, making changes to regedit, opening in iphone explorer, pretty much all the steps that come up in a google search. iphone wont recognize in computer and stuck on low battery screen 3G

When I plug my iphone in to either my computer or the wall charger, it shows a battery with red and a lighting bolt symbol. I let it charge on the wall charger for over 24 hours and nothing changed. It does not recognize it in itunes or on my computer. When I unplug it, the screen goes black. And if I hold down the sleep/wake button, and the menu button the screen flashes white and then goes black. If i hold the sleep/wake button to turn it back on, it just goes back to the screen with the low battery symbol. iphone 3GS reboots during your phone call after updating to OS4

I have a major problem with the OS4 update on the iphone 3GS. After I updated my iphone 3GS, I can no longer make telephones calls longer then 10 - 15 minutes. After 10 -15 minutes the phone cuts out and I see an Apple symbol. After its rebooted, I can make another telephone call but the iphone reboots consistently again after 10 – 15 minutes. Can anyone help with this? Where on apples website can I submit this problem?I have also noticed that the iphone now heats up more quickly and the battery consumption is eaten rapidly. How do I fix this?And before you ask, this never happened before in the previous OS3. iphone 3GS 32GB iOS 4

iphone 3GS Connection Issues

Hey guys,About 3 days ago my phone started having trouble getting AT&T service. It goes in and out for no apparent reason. Sometimes it will have a couple bars, but no AT&T, 3G, or E symbol next to them causing my phone to be unusable for texting or calls. When this happens and I try to make a call or text I get the error message Could not activate cellular data network.This has been happening in areas where I normally have perfectly fine signal, and my phone will fluctuate from having No Service and giving me the Could not activate cellular data network error, to having full 3G service a minute or two later. Sometimes restarting my Phone fixes this, but not always. Im not sure whats causing this problem, and was wondering if anyone here had any ideas. Also, Im not sure if this problem is related or unrelated but my phone shut off by itself and I had to do a hard restart to get it to come back on. And just a second ago it restarted on its own accord.... Not sure if these are all ominous signs of my phone dying a slow death, or if theres a reasonable fix for one of two of these problems. How do I send a message from SMS, a text message, to an email address?I would like to press messages, New message and enter an email address (or whatever I need to type) and type my short message and send it to an email address. How would I do this? I want to do this, for disaster preparedness. Our non-profit provides a critical service to the public. We plan to continue working after the earthquake. I have a google group set up to allow all staff to communicate. After a disaster, phone lines are overloaded, including cell phone service. You may not be able to make a phone call, or connect to the internet on your iphone. However, you can often send a text message. They do often go through, in a disaster, after a short wait, when cell phone service is working, but overloaded. I would like to use the SMS text message feature of my iphone, to send a message to an email address. I tried just typing in the email address, but I cant find the @ symbol. iphone 3GS wont ring

For the record: I dont think my dilemma has anything to do with the new iOS4 update. Recently my iphone has been acting a bit odd. You know the little switch right above the volume buttons? The one that if you switch it, it shows a bell. Silent or ring. Well, a couple of days ago (about 2 days) after turning my phone back on, the little bell symbol randomly came up and was flashing on and off. This all happened without me touching the actual switch. After all that happened, when I went to switch the silent/ring thing, nothing came up. It just stayed the same. Now theres no sound. I can play music aloud. I can play a ringtone aloud. It just wont play on its own. If I receive a call, I wont hear it. If I receive a text, I wont hear it. The keyboard wont even click anymore Ive checked the settings. Phone wont start-only apple symbol appears then goes back to black screen iphone 3G

Hopefully someone can help me! I am at a loss of what to do with my phone...I have an iphone 3G which is currently running OS 3.1.3. Tonight I tried to check my facebook and it repeatedly booted me back to home screen. I tried restarting and it continued to act in the same manner. I decided to uninstall the app then went to download it and it said installed. I turned off the phone and this is when the real problems began. It sat at the little circular dial for about 5 minutes and wouldnt shut down so I held the home button and power button until the apple screen appeared. Ever since then, the phone will not boot past the apple screen. The apple appears for a minute, then goes right back to black. I have tried rebooting it and it shows the apple then a quick flash of the connect to itunes screen then goes back to black. Use iphone 3G as iPod Touch-wifi not working.

Ok, so I followed the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406?viewlocale=en_US I got an iphone 4, so my husband wants to use my 3G as an iPod touch. I activated it with my husbands AT&T SIM card from the cell phone that he uses. I set it up as a new iphone. I have shut it off, turned it back on, etc. However, it will connect to my wifi network, show the symbol and everything yet no pages will load. It is extremely frustrating to follow the directions and have it not work. I have tried downgrading to the previous OS (3.13) and no luck. I tried jailbreaking-no luck. I cannot use an unlock because the baseband version does not have an unlock yet.Please advise if any of you have had similar issues. iphone 3G iOS 4

Data roaming question iphone

Hi, even though I have data roaming turned off, I seem to have incurred data charges whilst in the US (roaming from UK). Has anyone any ideas how this can happen? All of the apps I normally use tell me that Data is turned off when I try to access them, so Im a bit confused why I have got any charges. The only app Ive used with any success is my satnav (gps) app from CoPilot which has a local copy of the maps. iOS4-I can see music but cant play it iphone 3G

just foolishly upgraded software.after going through all the usual problems and spending about 6hrs rebooting, restoring, going to back-ups etc, resyncing, resetting all data etc. i have got apps, video etc. back.BUT - All music looks like its there on my iphone, you pick a song, it briefly goes into the song screen, the play symbol flashes a couple of times then it goes back to previous screen and doesnt play.All songs play on PC and other ipods, but not on iphone (or just phone now).Can anyone please help as i am going on holiday tomorrow and really need it fixing!!???many thanks HP iOS 4

iphone 3G boot Problems I think I have tried everything

I am having some problems. I replaced my iphone 3G screen and got the white screen and was told to restore the phone. I did that. Now It just reboots continuously and sometimes has the little loading symbol that spins like when you are loading a video. The iphone is on iOS4. I have tried both restore mode and DFU mode. I am able to reload the OS on itunes but it just does the continuous boot all over again. Here are some logs i found. Face Time disconnects with wireless N iphone

So Ive checked and double-checked this. When connected via wireless N to my dual-band Time Capsule (2nd gen), after maybe 5-10 minutes of Face Time, the call drops, and I get an error that I have no wifi connection! A second later, the wi-fi connects (the 3G symbol switches to a wifi symbol).I have NO issues running Face Time over just wireless G connected to my Time Capsule.Whats going on here? WIFI network not found after power off once upgraded to IOS 4.0 iphone 3G

I read a post in another forum that someone had updated his iphone 3G to 4.0, then after a power-off it will not sucessfully find his WIFI network, instead uses only 3G. Solution he found was to go to settings, turn off WIFI, exit settings, go back, turn WIFI on again, select the network, and then its OK.I can confirm my iphone 3G is doing the exact same thing! After a power-off, power-on sequence, it will initially show the WIFI icon, but it goes on and off a couple of times and then settles into steady 3G mode. Slow browsing confirms its not using the WIFI. In settings, WIFI is apparently on and connected to the local network. His procedure (turn off wifi, turn it back on, reconnect to network) works on my phone as well, and then everything is fine as long as you dont power-off the phone. Sleep mode is no problem, wakes back up with WIFI active. Dell Windows XP

texting problems since downloading iOS 4 iphone

Since new os download every incoming and outgoing texted is indicated as a new message. Although when you open the texting the message doesnt show up you have to scroll through and find the person from an earlier date which will not be marked by the unread symbol. Upon reading the message the home screen indication does not go away until you close text message down in the multitasking then open it once again. At this time the unread messages will move to the top. As you can imagine it is a real pain to do for couple thousand messages a month. Thanks in advance custom

iOS 4 ibooks PDF Crash iphone 3G

Hi everyoneLast night i upgraded to iOS 4 and downloaded ibook v 1.1When browsing in safari, I normally read the a weekly newspaper in PDF format (approx 20-30mb) but when the bar appears in safari to offer to open up the PDF in ibooks and i click this option the phone crashes and the apple symbol comes up for maybe 3-4minutes and then back to the home screen. iOS4 Crashed my iphone 3G

Last night I was trying to update my 3gs OS to iOS4.At first it looked as if the update was going well, but then my iphone started into some continuous rebooting cycles. It would be at the start-up screen with a loading bar under the apple symbol. Every time the bar filled up a little less than halfway (sometimes more), the screen would flash white and then it would reboot.I let it run this way for about 2 hours to see if it would improve, but nothing positive really happened.Ive tried everything from manual restarting, to unplugging it and then plugging it back into iTunes. But now iTunes cant seem to detect it, and when it does, I click on something (even by accident) and the whole programs stops responding.Ive also shut it off for the night, but every time it starts up,the same thing happens (as mentioned above).Help?****EDIT****Ive also just tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Im now getting the pop up that says iTunes cannot connect to the iphone because an invalid response was received from the device iphone 3gs

Moving to Abu Dhabi-Can I use my iphone without Roaming Charges

Have iphone 3GS. Taken a job in Abu Dhabi. Apple told me that I had to speak with AT&T about using the phone there. AT&T will not divulge the code/info needed to use the phone with local service. Going to be living there 24/7 and they expect us to pay roaming charges?Is there any way around this? I know they want their two years of flesh, but these are extreme circumstances. Ios 4 has broken my iphone

I attempted to download ios4 just now but itunes said I needed to restore my phone but it crashes half way through and comes up with error 21.
