my iphone 5 starting acting up lately. i am online but there is no wifi icon on top. when i checked the speed of my router, macbkpro will register 3mbps., ipad2 will register 2.3mbps and my iphone 5 will have a measly .35mbps. taking into consideration that my ipad 2 has the wifi issues because of ios6 which was much discussed here in the forum. i have mentioned before that before ios6, my ipad has better signal than my iphone. but after ios 6, iphone5 showed better signal with the same set of circumstances of the router. 3g signal is very good but there is frequent failure or delay in sending text messages and frequent dropped or choppy signal of phone calls.what is wrong with my phone. should i have it exchanged?

Someone tried to access my online account the first day I got my phones. The carrier texted me. I rcvd snail mail that they tried to access it again and were given a temp password. I have blocked all access to my online account- I can't even access it. My phone is now burning hot, and under Diagnostics and usage, the dates are out of order and they look suspicious- I see words like apple user ID, daemon,etc.Please help! My ex keeps getting in all my info, accounts, emails.. Static noise when recording video with iPhone 4S this normal
Hi, I bought an iPhone 4S at the end of May time and it was taken back due to dead pixels once, then the newer one had the same issue so was returned again. The third one which I had replaced last Thursday has a different problem. All is well with the phone is what I initially thought (no dead pixels at least...) I recorded a video earlier on and played it back and noticed it has a very loud hissing/static type sound to it. Even over the voices or any type of noise. I am not sure why this is happening, I removed the case and it still happened. I read online that people have used an app called Qik so I downloaded that and tried it - the same noise occurs. Is this normal for a 4S? Or should I take it back a third time? Thanks in advance.

Why no international warranty option for iPhone 5
Why is there not an option available to extend the iPhone warranty to an international warranty? Especially with a phone that you tend to take with you whenever you travel having to go to the country you bought it originally is a pain and sometimes not feasible. In my case : when I travelled from Hong Kong to a business trip in the Netherlands and then on to the US my iPhone 5 got stolen at the airport in Hong Kong. luckily I only had a prepaid SIM for Hong Kong in the iPhone so I went online and ordered a new simlock free iPhone 5 at the Dutch online Apple store to be delivered in Amsterdam a few days later. So far, so good. I am currently in China and my iPhone 5 sleep button broke down. As I had to be in Hong Kong last week I thought I would stop by the Causeway Bay Apple Store after making a genius bar appointment. They checked the iPhone 5 and confirmed the sleep button was broken and it would be swapped for a new one. However on checking my serial number they told me I had to go back to The Netherlands to get it fixed.... So here is a problem, I am not planning on being there any time soon. Why is it not possible in the global economy we live in to get an international warranty? I called Apple Care and they suggested I could try in an Apple store in North Carolina where I am due in a few weeks, but they could not guarantee they would swap the phone. Now the end of July I am due in the UK and from what I read now an iPhone bought in any EU country could be swapped in another EU country. so that would mean I could swap it in London? Very odd. Always travel with my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and these do have international warranty.
I am planning on buying an unlocked iPhone 5 with T-Mobile Nano S . I have few questions.
I was planning on buying a 32GB unlocked iPhone 5 with the T-Mobile Nano Sim. I was going to activate the Sim with T-Mobile's prepaid $30 unltd text/data with 100 minutes plan. I've read some stories online where people were only able to use the Sim with T-Mobile's post-paid plans. Will the Sim that comes included work with prepaid and post-paid plans? Also, assuming that it does work with prepaid, what steps would I need to go through to activate the iPhone? Assuming that it doesn't, would cutting down a prepaid Micro Sim from T-Mobile to Nano Sim size work normally? Thank you in advance!

Wet iPhone -Please Help
My iPhone 4 was in the pocket of my GoreTex jacket on a rainy walk, and somehow got wet! When I pulled it out after the walk, the phone was hot, the LED flash was on, but the phone was unresponsive. I noticed moisture in the camera lens, so immediately went online to see how to clear the moisture and revive my iPhone. It has been sitting in a bag of rice for about 5 days now (with a few silica packs I pulled from vitamin bottles), with no signs of life. Plugging it in, the LED flash comes on, but that's it. When unplugged, the LED stays on for about 5 minutes, but eventually dies. The phone is past warranty, so no hope of getting it replaced by Apple, but I'm not ready to give up on it yet... Any ideas on (a) what to do... keep waiting? or (b) what might be wrong... what parts might I need to order for a DIY fix? Thanks!
Battery losing it's mind iPhone 4S
Hello, my wife's iPhone 4S seems to be losing its mind. It will show 60% battery then less than an hour later its down to 1%. Now, ordinarily I would say this is just a battery incapable of holding a charge, but it seems like this might be something else. When we plug the phone in, it almost instantly will jump to 20-30% charged. We've tried doing a full wipe/restore through iTunes, but that resulted in no changes. I'd take it to the Apple Store and ask for a battery repair (really, just a swap for a different refurb I assume) and pay the $80. However, looking online it sounds like Apple wont do this for any phones showing signs of damage. This makes sense, since they dont want people just swapping out busted phones for pristine refurbs. Well, the wife's phone has a single hairline crack in the front glass. It happened shortly after purchase and has never impacted performance. We didnt have the foresight to purchase accidental damage protection coverage... Its a small crack and my wife didnt want to hassle with trying to send it in for repair. Sure wish we had now... Not sure what to do at this point. Suggestions? Thanks Eric

Okay, so today I leant over to pick up my ruler which I'd dropped and my iPhone slipped out of my pocket. Ironically, I'd put it in the inside pocket so it wouldn't slip out, and I've had it for 6 months and have been very careful with it until today. Needless to say I am absolutely gutted about this, and am hoping to replace the back of it. Looking online, some people claim that if I took it to an Apple store, they would either replace it for free or I would have to pay £29, however I'm not sure whether Apple have changed their policy about free first time repairs since the release of the iPhone 5/4S. I'm willing to pay because it was my own fault, but I wanted to know how much it would be before waltzing into an Apple store. One other thing, would I have to tell my Mum? Because she recently told off my younger sister for smashing the screen of her iPod and used me as an example of being careful, and I know she'd be devastated by this too. (Not to mention how much she'd freak out about it!) I don't want to replace the back myself with cheaper parts from eBay because I know it'll damage my warranty if I do (I'm not sure whether smashing the screen comes under the warranty, I don't think it will.).

So my iphone was on 70% battery when it suddenly went off, it would not turn back on. It will not charge and is not recognised in itunes, i have tried a different power supply still nothing. PLEASE do not suggest the the hold power button and home button IT DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, tried about 300 times even holding on to it for up to 5 minutes, ive tried reseting through itunes aswell. To begin with my phone was underwater about 65'. Miraculously from what I can tell the only thing broken is the screen, which is entirely black, and the phone seems to be in recovery mode. I've tried every program I can find online to bypass recovery mode for both windows and Mac but no luck. I don't care about the phone I just want my honeymoon pictures off of it. iPhone 4S gives me some form of electric shock
Hi there, I was on my computer tonight, with my iPhone infront of me on charge via the wall charger. My arm was ever so slightly resting on the corner of my phone. When I realised there was a sharp pain in my arm, kind of like someone pricking my arm with a needle. I assumed it was some form of static shock. However it happened whenever I touched the corners no where else. There are no small chips or anything that could feel shark when touched. I'm not especially worried about this, just interested to know a: whats happening and b: if anyone else has noticed something like this. Weather has been quite warm and humid lately which I know can cause static electricity. It appears to only occur when the phone is plugged in, which generally makes sense. ThanksMatt

I bought my iPhone 4S from the Apple store for £500 last September. Last week it fell from my pocket onto a tiled flooring and the external glass (but not the LCD screen) was damaged, making it difficult to use. I booked an appointment with a Genius and went to that yesterday, where they replaced my iPhone for £139. I briefly mentioned my warranty but the assistant wasn't very attentive and I'm not sure if he even acknowleged that. So I paid £139 and got a brand new iPhone. I have now read online that £139 is the 'out-of-warranty' charge for a replacement and that Apple give replacements (only once) to each of their customers if their product is within warranty.Was I charged incorrectly?

Why Apple uses low capacity batteries for iPhone iPhone 5
It doesn't take genuis to conclude that we have a muturity status in performance of most of the iPhone hardware (Camera ability, speed, reciption etc)but when it comes to battery Apple didn't do a great job other than optimizing the chips for lower power consumption(I know it's hard and complicated thing to do but the results are ineffecint.) Looking at other smartphone like Motorola droiod Max with 3000mah battery capacity with standad 20hours of talk time there is clear gap of Apple strategy when it comes to that. Frankly I ask what's the point of having a brilliant phone with half day life time, should smartphone always be complimented with on the go charger/external battery or worst a basic phone?

My data usage is unexpected very high for the past couple of months. I increased my data plan from 200mb to 300mb because my data usage was unexpectedly increasing. I'm 5 days into my billing cycle and i'm already 20% into my data plan. The only things I've done are read news articles online, pulled emails, and used iMessage. No online music or videos. I also made sure my background apps were closed out, and I even rebooted. Has anyone experienced the same issue? How did you resolve this issue?

Hi, I tried to update 3 apps on iPhone 5 about a week ago. They got 'stuck' while updating, and now are permanently frozen showing a greyed out icon, and saying the status as 'installing.' I have tried everything and need more suggestions.This is what I have tried:Restoring - no changeLogging off iTunes account, pressing home and lock button til apple icon appears, then logging back in - this changes the status to 'waiting' but it's still frozenHolding down icon to delete - it doesn't have cross above these 3 affected appsGone into -> General -> Usage -> then selected each affected app and Deleted them - no changePlugged into PC and synced, then tried removing apps and installing again - the icons aren't removed when I remove, but when I install them again, it does kickstart the icon to change to 'loading', but then it returns to 'installing' and is still frozenAdding a new app/ installing updates for other apps to check to see if iTunes account works - yes they added/ updated fineCalling Apple tech support. The guy was really nice and helpful, but his advice didn't work (as above.) He told me to contact the iTunes account support, and ask them to delete the apps from my purchase history and then try re-installing themContacting the ITunes account support - they emailed me back, and advised me that they checked my download queue and "updates of these three apps are not there." (?) So they gave me the advice to do as above. He also sent me to this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702 which at the last step says "If you continue to experience the issue, contact the developer of the application for further assistance." Now, my issue is: How the heck do I contact the developer, and will this help, when it seems to clearly be an iPhone problem? Should I give up and take the phone into an Apple store? iphone 4 randomly freezes-what hardware to swap
Good Afternoon, ive recently started up my own business fixing mobile phones - mostly cracked screens and chassis replacements. Just recently i thought id got a bargain on ebay regarding an iphone 4. It was described as working correctly, can make / receive calls and send texts etc but randomly locks up. Ive got the phone today, unfortunately its locked to the 3 network so ive got a micro sim on the way so I cant actually proceed further at this point. Although it did crash once on me when i tried to select language's etc - had to hold the home and power button down until it turned off. Ive read on the forums that this is a common fault, and can occur to any iphone - faulty or otherwise. And the main concensus seems to be to take it back to the store for a swap. My main question is - seeing how im likely to come across this fault again - is the fault software or hardware related? If its hardware related what circuit board is likely to be the culprit? If we could identify the problem then im sure I could just order the required part on ebay. The fact that apple havent recalled the iphone and that they will accept these faulty iphone's back and swap for new suggests to me its an easy fix - its just easier for the technicians to go in the store room and get a brand new one. Secondly ive just got another iphone 4 white - bought cheap as its totally dead. Tried a new battery and still nothing. Got a new dock / charging connector on the way - is it likely to be this at fault? Doesnt seem to be any sign of water damage, and it wasnt described as this on the ebay page. When id swapped the new battery over i tried to charge the phone ( to see if id fixed it ) and it got extremely hot - so i disconnected right away and left it to cool off. whats likely to be the issue with that one? my iPhone 4 Genuinely NEW or Refurbished Please HELP
#I just received my BRAND NEW, SEALED, iPhone4 32 GB FACTORY UNLOCKED which I bought from Ebay. After unboxing, I switched on the phone to find that it was already activated, and did NOT show the "Connect to iTunes" screen, which gave me doubts whether this phone is actually brand new, the phone does have that protective film on the front and back which normally comes with brand new iPhones, anyhow I went online and did some intense research and found interesting facts about the serial number, and from my understanding the phones with serial numbers starting with 5K could be a refurbished phone, and indeed my supposedly BRAND NEW iPhone which came in a sealed retail box with all accessories does have a 5K serial number, so I did some more googling and came across a web site which gives details about an iPhone with its serial number and it shows this phone is a refurbished one. I checked on Apple website for warranty and it says "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contactus." #Now all you good knowledgeable people out there, please please shed some light on this matter.Is this really a genuine brand new phone? When I contacted the seller regarding the phone being already activated, he said it is normal with phones which are factory unlocked. But I believe it is actually supposed to show - “Connect to iTunes” screen. That was how it was with my iPhone 3G. At least right out of a brand new box. Am I correct? How can a refurbished iPhone come in a sealed retail box? Even if that was the case, would it cost the same as a normal brand new FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone because I paid US $ 904.00 for this. Does Apple sell refurbished iPhones as new? What confuse me is that the box have all the labels intact as it was a sealed box, and the serial number and IMEI number match with the actual phone. Should I consider this a genuine product that Apple meant to sell as it is or better I go for a claim and either get a refund or replacement from the seller on Ebay?. Hi everyone.I bought my iPhone 5 from apple online store (US).Now I want to replace broken display. I have international warranty and it's still valid. I understand, that I should pay for it, but there is no any official support of apple in my country (Georgia).What can I do? I will be in Czech republic during this week and is it possible to replace my display somewhere in Czech Republic (or in nearby countries) without voiding my warranty?Note: I can't send my iPhone to US service because there is no any way to send it from my country. Water Damage iPhone 4S
On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iPhone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iPhone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour. About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iPhone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode. Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button. I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iPhone 4S when the next generation iPhone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady

I just bought my iphone 5 one month ago then i realise my camera was not functioning, It always stuck in black screen when i try open the camera apps. I found out there are actually many people who bought iphone 5 suffered this problem when i try to look for resolution online. I want to go for warranty but my phone got dent on it's appearance. Therefore, apple told me that my phone was unable to warranty. However, my purpose to warranty is to fix the camera instead of the dent on my phone. Can apple fix my camera problem? I really feel sad and regret for purchase the phone now because of the problem i am facing now. Hopefully apple can give me a satisfied answer. Thank you.
I bought an iPhone 4 locked to Orange UK why can't it be unlocked
I contacted Orange UK and they said that this iPhone4 is ready to be unlocked, but they can't unlock the phone because I am not the original contract owner. Why can't Apple unlock this phone, because the original owner doesn't care and has sold it? As far as I understand, I am one of at least 3 owners for this phone. I guess there could be more. I just wanted to have a normal iPhone, why can't Apple help on this issue? I have previously had many apple products, this is the first one I bought used adn just wanted to restore it to normal. Another thing is that 3rd party services can unlock it for 200$. What is that they do to unlock it? Why can't apple make a small comission for unlcoking iPhones instead. People find ways to cheat and ripoff people who doesn't deserve to pay extra for the phone they bought.
