Iphone 3G 2.2 earpiece not working HELP PLEASE

Hi, suddenly my iphone earpiece it´s not giving me sound. When I recieve a call people can hear, but I can´t. Also with the voicemail, I have to use the head phones, or the bluetooh. The only way to speak in a conversation with out the head phones it´s to use it in speaker mode. I have tried everything, plug and unplugged many times the headphones (it recognize the it doesn´t have it because when I put it out it says ringer and no headphones ringer in the iphone when I change the volume). The ipod part is working correctly, when I recieve a call or make a call, it stops. The mic is working fine. Can somebody help me to find where can be the problem? I already reset it, two times, try the plug and unplugged thing, clean the jack trail MacBook Pro 15 Mac OS X (10.5.6)

fwd txt reject call snooze reminders iPhone

after several months of having my iphone, and it breaking, I went in to the apple store to speak to an iPhone Genius. The name of his job title, aside from being very arrogant, was far from the truth!!Anyway, he couldnt answer my questions, and suggested i should post them to apple. The iphone either lacks a lot of features which even my first Nokia had, or i just cant find them. Wonder if anyone can help:Forwarding Texts:cant forward a text. This is annoying, as if someone sends me some info in a text i wish to send on, i cant see how to forward, nor how to copy and paste the info into a new txt.Red Button:Wheres the reject call button? If my phone is on the lock screen when it rings, the only option I have is to answer or silence it. Silencing the ringing is no good, as people often hang up before voicemail kicks in.Snoozing Reminders:if i have a calendar reminder, cant see how you snooze it. Missed loads of appointments and reminders with this one. Very easy to loose the reminders from the screen, and then not see them. There are so many more things that thoroughly disappoint me about this phone - the bluetooth stack, the 3G/GSM implementation, cant change the home screen background from black, cant have your own ringtones - or even set a MP3 song which you have bought on itunes as a ring tone, etc etc. However, these are more annoyances than show stoppers.I hope someone can help with the top three above, or maybe, someone in apple might see this post and suggest to include these rudimentary features that have been present in phones since mobiles went digital in the next software release. Or maybe someone knows a way around these annoyances to make the phone usable, for me, at least. iPhone3G None

Unknown call December 31 1969 at 6pm iPhone

I went to check a voicemail message I had received earlier today and instead of my normal voicemails, there were 11 brand new missed calls from Unknown. When I tried to listen to the message, there was no message or time value. When I looked at the calls details, they were all dated December 31, 1969 at 6:00pm. I restarted the phone and the calls were gone and my normal messages were restored however, I am very curious now as to what may have caused this. Did anyone else encounter this problem or know the cause? Any help would be appreciated! I phone

Multiple voicemail Greetings iPhone

Visual voice mail should give the user the ability to record and save multiple custom greetings, giving them different names, and activate/deactivate them at different times (either manually or, even better, on a schedule) without having to re-record. This would be especially helpful for business users. For instance, some users might want one greeting for days, another for nights; or one for weekdays and one for weekends; or one for when they are “on-duty” and another for “off-duty”. It seems like the visual voice mail UI is well prepared to do this – just hasn’t been implemented.Does anyone know of any add-ins or apps that would give me this functionality. Any word whether Apple is considering including it in future releases? HP Laptop Windows XP Pro

Request for Advice on ATT iPhone 3G

Im in San Francisco, iPhone 3G owner since the beginning (but new to AT&T). Ive swapped phones and sims, and spent countless hours on the phone with both AT&T and Apple. I have a fully functioning phone, and poorly functioning service.AT&T has confirmed that there are reception issues (due to frequency and over use) in my area of San Francisco, resulting in dropped calls, delayed voicemail and lack of 3G. AT&T has credited my account multiple times, but last month told me that they would allow me to cancel my contract and keep my phone...(or should I say iPod), but would not offer any further discounts on my contract. On a recent trip to Florida, the phone and service functioned perfectly. Full 3G reception 1.5 miles offshore, perfect reception in downtown Miami, not one dropped call the whole trip (except when I called a friend on his iPhone here in SF and his phone dropped the call). The reception issue is documented by AT&T with vague promises that it will be fixed Q1 2009. As it stands, Im feeling pretty lost as far as how to proceed — Ive spent a lot of energy, time and money on this project and have a phone that functions very poorly in my home area. AT&Ts incapable of owning it, and Apple recommends that I use the phone as an iPod (or unlock it). This is completely ridiculous on the part of both AT&T and Apple. Constantly being prompted to enter voicemail pass code iPhone

Hello all. So my dad has an first gen. 8GB iPhone. He is running the latest version of 2. X. So constantly he is getting prompted to enter the voicemail pass code. If he is on the home screens, that window will pop up asking for the code. If hes in an app, that window will pop up. It seems to happen every 30 seconds or. When it does come up, we enter the password, it accepts it and goes away. Then it would come back again. Neither of us have any clue why its doing this. iPhone features in general

I happily received my iPhone last Friday and spent the weekend setting it all up. Thats where the first disappointment / frustration came in - couldnt transfer any files or contacts from my old Sony Ericsson via bluetooth. Had to spend hours setting up my contacts on my MacBook Pro so I could use the sync via iTunes. Have found that I cannot connect to any phone via bluetooth.Next frustration arose when I discovered that all the ringtones I created for my Sony (mp3 extracts of various songs) cannot be used as ringtones on the iPhone. Have just found a few convoluted ways to get around this but yet to try them.Next frustration came when I couldnt forward an SMS or copy it. Found on the forum that there is some third party software to download to bypass this. Cant send or receive MMS eitherLastly I tried to pair my Jabra bluetooth stereo headset - had the same problems as others (as found out after discovering the forums). I can get it for phone usage (or voicemail at least) but not for playing music.Oh, forgot one - no FM radio! All the basic, common old features found on any new phone, but cannot do any of these on the latest. greatest. state-of-the-art phones. Absolutely love the way all the features which you CAN use operate - sensational functionality. But with so many basics that cannot be performed, I think I will (very sadly) have to take advantage of the 10-day cooling off period, and return my phone and get a later model Sony or Samsung. At least I know they do MY basics. If I have my facts totally wrong, then please let me know ASAP before I send the phone back and wait until (hopefully) later models get it right! Please note that I have been a Mac computer user for years and love them. I have been eagerly waiting for my phone contract to expire so I could get this sexy iPhone - oh how disappointing!!!!! Iphone 3g BMW bluetooth update

Hi all,This might/might not be useful to know, but I have 2005(55 plate) BMW X5 with sat nav/tv/bluetooth and have in the last couple of weeks purchased a new Iphone 3g running version 2.1. The phone paired to the car, but the phonebook was unavailable and I did get some echoing.Ive since updated to version 2.2 and the phone still pairs, but I now have a fully functional phonebook transferred to the car that I can actively scroll through to make calls from the steering wheel, and I get no echoing whatsoever anymore. So BMWs compatability list shouldnt be taken as gospel as this is the 3rd phone I have that wasnt listed as compatible. signal drops call failed iPhone 3G

Just recently, and for no reason my iphone 3g cannot make or take any calls. When I call someone they will get the call, but if they answer or it goes to voicemail, the signal drops and I get a call failed, and when I get a call, answer it, the signal drops and I get a call failed. Ive tried a hard reset, backup restore, and and a full restore to original settings. Nothing has worked, I even reseated the SIM card hoping this would help the problem but nothing has worked.I can however send and receive text messages...email, use net, all other features, its just the phone that is messed up. Anyone else have this issue? Is the SIM card hosed? or is it the phone?Im gonna take it into the Apple store this coming Sunday or Monday to see if they can resolve the problem. Exchanging iPhone 3G what to bring to Apple Store

I have voice reception issues, data usability issues, a nonsensical battery meter after the 2.2 update, and now a loveley set of cracks emanating from the headphone port. I believe I have a lemon iPhone 3G and a replacement is warranted. I am outside AT&Ts 30-day replcement period, so a visit to the Apple Store is necessary. What do I need to bring with me for an exchange? I must prepare ahead of time, as the nearest store is almost 50 miles away.FYI, these are the problems, after 2 months of anabused, moisture-free usage.1) Voice: My phone will completely lose reception in areas where other iPhone 3G users show 5 solid bars of 3G coverage. (I can stand right next to another iPhone user who will have perfect coverage, and I will have nothing.) Calls to me go straight to my voicemail, and Im never notified; I also never know of SMS messages sent to me. This happens at random.2) Data: (these also happen at random)(a) With 4-5 bars of 3G coverage indicated, using any data-intensive app (Safari, App Store, NY Times) immediately causes a 1-2 minute hang, then the phone drops to EDGE speeds before any data is exchanged.(b) I tried DSL Reports for iPhone in an area (remote, and at 6 AM, so probably not too many users on the network) with 5 solid bars of 3G coverage indicated, and my download speed was a whopping 273 kbps (?). For reference, EDGEs maximum is 236 kbps; 3G should yield up to 1.7 Mbps.3) Battery: A 5-minute phone call shouldnt drop the battery meter from ~ 75% to 25% charge indicated.4) Cracks: Two of them, starting form the headphone jack and heading toward the Apple logo. One is 1/4 long, the other 1/6 long. 24" iMac intel; 17" iMac G4 Mac OS X (10.5.2) I miss the desklamp design

So many problems with 3G Iphone

Good morning forum, I am having so many problems with this phone which I purchased on 11/4/08. I have spoken to technical support and they had me do a restore last week, but I am still having the same problems. First thing is my phone will not ring every time I receive a phone call, nor will it show that I have missed a called. Sometimes I will get a voicemail message and the phone never rang, and it will not show the missed called then either. I have also did a reset and when I do that it shows my iphone needs to be activated, then it shows the iphone is being activated it may take some time. I have to turn it off to get this to go away. Safari crashes all the time or it wont load pages. The phone stays in edge mode most of the time, even though I have wireless in my home. And the screen is unresponsive quite often. I made an appointment to take it to the Genuis bar this afternoon, to see if they have any solutions. I just wanted to know if any other users are experiencing these problems. Thanks Dell Windows ME

iPhone 3g unable to receive calls under 3g

Under 3g, my iPhone is unable to receive more than one or two calls. After that, regardless of what it is doing, my iphone does not ring, notify in any way, or even update my voicemail if the caller leaves one.Just recently, I got a voicemail from someone that called me last Saturday.Ive narrowed it down to one problem. If 3g is on, the iPhone will not tell me in any way that it is receiving a call. If 3g is off, the phone works as intended. Here is what I have done:1. Restored to a brand new v2.2. Not from backup. Fail.2. Turned off phone and turned it back on. Fail.3. Removed SIM card and put it back in. Fail. -when SIM card was out, any calls to my number went directly to vmail. If SIM card is in and 3g is on, no call notification as before. 4. Turned off WIFI. Fail.5. Turned off 3g. Win.I didnt include various steps in between that illustrate that the 3gs being on is at fault.Yes, this has been on the forums before. But there are no conclusive answers. How do I go about resolving this? I want 3g on my iPhone. Im currently in Philadelphia, and AT&T signal here is very good. This did not happen to me, as far as I know, before the 2.2 update.Thanks. Seattle iPhone users having network issues 3G

I have a 3G iphone, 16GB running 2.2 software. I live in Seattle and Im wondering if anyone else is experiencing problems with receiving calls and text messages. Basically whats been happening is sometimes when people call me either my phone wont ring at all or it will ring twice and go to voicemail. With text messages, when someone sends a text with an image, Im not being sent the link to the AT&T website to login and view the image. Also I might get a bunch of text messages all at once like my phone has disappeared off the network, then receives a backlog of messages. Speakerphone doesnt work-calls only iPhone 3G

This 2.2 3g iPhone just started doing this. During a call, if I put it on speaker, the other person can hear me but I get no output from the speakers. However, I can listen to voicemail or my greeting on speaker just fine, and the speakers work when playing games, watching videos, etc. Any suggestions? Ive done a hard reset and that did not help. Should I try a restore? (although I hate having to do that...)My thinking is that since speaker works when listening to voicemail, its unlikely that its a hardware problem, but I could be wrong. Thanks in advance for any help. 2.2 major glitch iPhone

Hi all,Ive been reading a number of threads all with a similar theme and I think Apple have a major glitch with 2.2. A few days ago I upgraded to 2.2 after which I noticed that I couldnt make or receive calls anymore. Like a large number of contributors to the site everytime I try calling someone the 3g signal goes after the first couple of rings and then the call fails. If someone tries calling me the phone sometimes shows the number (sometimes it doesnt) but then declines the call, other times the call will go straight to voicemail. Now I have tried literally every suggestion made on this forum- reset, restore and create new accout, drain battery, change sim, call carrier, try sim in another phone, reinstall iTunes etc...nothing fixes this problem.Im convinced its a problem with 2.2. I want alert Apple and ask them to investigate now!!Im taking my phone to a service centre tomorrow and im sure it will be gone for week, which is a major inconvienience that could be avoided for other users if Apple just fixed the glitch with 2.2.Rob iMac G5 MacBook pro Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Going on holiday to UK-want data but no voice calls iPhone

HiMy wife and I both have iPhone 3Gs in the US. Were going to be on holiday in the UK for two weeks this month, and would like the ability to pick up emails and do modest web browsing. We dont want to make, or receive, any voice calls back to the US. I found AT&Ts International Data Roaming plan, for $25/month, which sounds fine for what we need, and was on the phone starting to set it up. However, the AT&T salesperson then started talking about voice roaming, which we dont want. Can anyone clarify or expand upon how the phones will work?1) Can we buy a data roaming package without activating international voice roaming?2) If we purchase the data roaming plan, but dont buy a voice roaming plan, will calls made from the US to our phones still connect and cost the international roaming charge of $1.29/min? Or, will they just go to voicemail (internally within the US), and not cost us anything? Thanks to anyone who can clear this up.Matt 2x2.5GHz PMG5, 1.5GHz PB12, 2x1.42GHz PMG4, 5G iPod, iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Call Fail Cant receive calls iPhone

This just started about an hour ago. When I dial out, it immediately goes to call fail, even though I have full signal strength. If someone tries calling me, it goes straight to my voicemail, occasionally my phone will ring, when I click accept call, it says call Fail.So far I have:1. Reset Network Settings2. Held Sleep Button and Home Button for 30 seconds to restart3. Deleted ALL Applications I have downloaded4. Re-seated Sim Card5. Restored the IphoneNothing has worked. I can still check email, surf using Safari, watch YouTube, Use the weather function, and I can receive voicemail. So the data is working fine.My signal strength is at full, I dial a number, the signal strength immediately goes to none and says call failed. Afterward the phone also seems to be extremely bogged down.Whats the deal, anyone else experiencing this? What can I do to fix this?Joshua Dell

iPhone 3G drops service in sleep

i have an iPhone 3G that was replaced in october or so, and im having a bizarre issue with it.when the battery gets very low (20-10% range) it drops my service in sleep. it will still say AT&T but there will be one bar and no edge or 3G. after about 15 seconds or so my service pops back as normal and i get a deluge of text messages and a voicemail or two sometimes. this is pretty irritating and i cant figure out why this would be happening.i did not experience this with my previous iPhone 3G.ive already restored the phone and set it up as a new iPhone, tried hard resets, re-sat the SIM and blew it out with compressed air, etc. issue persists.has anyone had this issue? what did you do to resolve it?thanks!Message was edited by: victoriaaa 2.4ghz mbp Mac OS X (10.5.5) defunct 900MHz iBook G3 12", 1.5ghz 15" powerBook G4.

iPhone 3G Visual voicemail and handsfree audio routing Audi

I have an iPhone 3G (running OS 2.2) and have paired it with my Audi A3 via Bluetooth. Everything works great, with one consistent exception:While the iPhone 3G and the Audi A3 are connected, call audio is routed fine. However, if I check Visual voicemail, audio from the voicemail does not play through the A3s speaker system (as regular calls do). The iPhone 3G thinks it is, and the Audi handsfree remains selected during playback, but no audio comes out of the Audis speaker system. I have to switch the audio to the iPhones speaker in order to hear Visual voicemail while the two are connected.Clearly, this is not ideal.Apple, any idea why the audio from Visual voicemail is routed differently than audio from a regular call during a handsfree connection? When are you going to fix problems you are creating iPhone

Ever since the 2.1 update my visual voicemail has not worked. AT&T says there system is working properly and that it is an Apple problem, nobody at the Apple store knows why it isnt working. So I have been without visual voicemail, a feature that I am paying for, for over two months. Now with the 2.2 update you wiped out all of my phone favorites and I have had to re-enter 37 number all over again.Do you bother to test anything before you subject the public to these problems?? I thought Apple stood for a higher level of quality and function, so far all you have made me want to do is return my phone and go back to something I can depend on.With over 224,000 problems on this board and over 2,000 pages, you would hope someone would try to prevent further problems. So incoming calls to me go straight to my voicemail without my phone even ringing when in 3g. This is new since updating to 2.2. Texts also dont come through on 3g network since updating. They show up after a restart. After restartng is when voicemails also show up. Went and saw genius today, told me switching to edge solves this issue. Did so and they were right. But whats the point of 3g if it is unusable? Any one else having similar issue? AT&T and apple need to get this stuff squared away.

Upgrade to 2.2 gives service temporarily unavailable iPhone 3G

Ive had this same problem before when upgrading to 2.1. See discussion http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1714247&tstart=0So there seems to be a configuration issue with my iTunes that is preventing it from connecting to the download server. As a back door way of fixing the 2.1 issue, this link was provided to download the update files http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-5198.20080909.K3294/iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw Im assuming there a similar link for the 2.2 upgrade? Does anyone know what that might be? Is there a general url which has all the current and previous upgrades? That way I can download any version I want without having to create a new discussion topic every time theres an upgrade. This seems to be a consistent problem for me. When I try to update my iPhone 3G to latest firmware 2.1, I get the following error message, There was a problem downloading the iPhone software for the iPhone my names iPhone. The service is temporarily unavailable. At first I thought the server was really down, but this keeps happening for days now, and others are obviously able to upgrade theirs. No Service constant restart iPhone 3G

We had two LG phones, and I got an iPhone about 3 weeks ago. My wife decided to stay with the LG. Both use 3G. We used to get good reception in the house, but since the iPhone, BOTH phones cant keep a service connection. Stranger, when we leave the house, about a mile down the road we drive right by an ATT tower, and still have NO SERVICE on the face. If we restart the phones, theyre both fine for about 30-60 minutes, then NO SERVICE again. It constantly loses my voicemail and requires my resetting it only to have it gone again the next day or two. This all began when I got the iPhone. Been to ATT 4x(new sims), Apple twice(re-re everything) and on the phone for hours (stupid suggestions). Im ready to tell ATT to take a walk, as it doesnt seem to be hardware...before I make an a$$ out of myself, am I missing anything? MB & iMac 2.8 24" Mac OS X (10.5.5)

change dtmf length iPhone

2.2 and Podcasts iPhone 3G

So I wanted to download Anderson Coopers 360 on my iPhone today but as it turns out, since the file is greater than 10mb I need to use a Wifi Network which is unavailable to me at the moment. So how do I go about deleting the pending DL. It just sits in under the DL tab warning me that I need to use a wifi connection. Windows XP
