I just noticed I havent been getting voicemail notifications for a couple weeks, maybe since the 3.0 update. I have to call my number to retrieve them. When I try to reset my voicemail password through the phone, it says voicemail unavailable. I am in a full 3G signal area. Id love to not have to do a restore as that takes forever with all the apps I have. Any ideas? Thanks,J iPhone 3G
Did a few searches, but did not find the answer I am looking for.. only found for MMS / SMS.When someone calls and I dont have my phone close enough to hear it ring, I dont know that someone called. I am forced to physically check the phone each time I a near it to see if I missed any calls. I missed an important biz call yesterday and a voicemail was sitting on my phone for 3 hours before I decided to make a call and noticed one was there. All my past phones will beep letting me know a call is missed. I can see where I can configure repeat notices for text messages, but not where to set it up for missed phone calls.Am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance. Dell Laptop 9300 Windows XP Pro
We bought a couple of iPhones recently and been trying to get use to them, in comparison to my Sprint phone which was a Sanyo. Ive been trying to find in the iPhones General settings and everywhere else and see if there is an indicator light to tell you you have voicemail or someone tried calling, when the iPhone is off. On the old phone, whenever I had a call come in that I missed there was a blinking light, or the word Voice Message, would show up. As sophisticated as iPhone is, surely it isnt that you have to keep turning the phone on to see if anyone has called? Is there a light that blinks when the phone is off to let you know that someone has called or youve missed a call? After updating today to 3.0 on my 3G, the Bluetooth and WIFI is unavailable. When I updated, there was a problem which required me to Restore. After the restore, these items became unavailable. I read it might be because I updated on a Windows machine with a Firewall so I restored again with my MacBook, but no luck. When will there be a patch! I need my Bluetooth when Im driving! Help! Theres no setting. Im surprised at how un-intuitive the google says it is. Best I could find is this article. Is it really as hard as it is described below? is there an easier way?http://www.technipages.com/increasedecrease-time-iphone-3g-rings-before-going-to-voice-mail.htmlquote: Increase/Decrease Time iPhone 3G Rings Before Going to Voice MailPosted on Sep 04, 2008 under iPhone Tips 3 CommentsDid you know that you can set how many seconds the iPhone 3G will ring before it goes to voice mail? Sure you could call customer service and have them do it for you. If you are the techie type though, you will want to do it yourself with these steps:1. Call this number: *#61#2. Write down the voice mail access number that appears on the line that says Forwards to.3. Now call: 61+1vm access number*11*n#Replace vm access number with your voice mail access numberReplace n with the number of seconds that should elapse before the call is sent to voice mail.To type a plus sign, hold down 0 for two seconds. When complete, you should see the following on your iPhone:Setting Activation SucceededVoice Call ForwardingWhen UnansweredYou are now set and the iPhone 3G should ring only for the amount of time you specified now before jumping over the voice mail.Source: macgirl Powermac G5 Quad Mac OS X (10.5.6) PPC Is useless. As I continue to get accustomed to this new update to 3.0 I am noticing some things that could be improved. Today I viewed a voicemail and tapped the arrow to the right of it for more detials then saw there was a share contact option there. Tapped the option to share and it opened a new window for an email. I turned the iPhone so I could type the email in landscape mode and no dice. Looks like when you are sharing contact info you will have to type it the old school way.
My new iPhone 3GS has never showed me the Visual voicemail screen. It just dials in to the voicemail system. This wouldnt be a problem, if the phone gave me any indication that there was voicemail. After 12 hours talking with AT&T and Apple tech support over the last week, Im finally bringing it to the forums. AT&T says its either a problem with the iPhone or a known Visual voicemail outage, but no one has any idea why the voicemail indicator doesnt at least tell me I have a voicemail. Anyone else having this problem? Is there really a Visual voicemail outtage? I havent been able to find anyone else anywhere complaining about a Visual voicemail outage. HELP!!! I went from iPhone 3G to 3Gs and have data plan and unlimited text. I get everything to work except visual voicemail. When I go to phone icon and hit the voicemail button, it dials my voicemail (similar to when you would push and hold 1 in the pre iPhone days. AT&T can resolve and have switched out phone. Have reset, restored, etc. with no luck. AT&T is baffled. Anyone have any ideas or resolutions? IPhone 3Gs iPhone OS 3.0
HelloAfter upgrading to 3.0 y voice mail is not working well; I mean, I can´t see the list of unreaded/readed voicemails available; If I choose the option of voicemail it automatically dials *86 and there´s a constant red circle in this option.I´m from Mexico and called Telcel (the authorized carrierd) but only said that in order to obtain the option I´ve to be conected all the time to the 3G network (not so good if I want to have more battery life).Does anyone have this problem? My iPhone 3G wont turn on at all. It had full battery just a few minutes before I noticed it wasnt on, and I cant get it to turn back on. I tried charging it, but that didnt work. I plugged it in to my computer and it synced my apps and calender and people can call it and it rings until it hits voicemail, but the phone doesnt respond. Ive never dropped my phone, and it was working fine this morning. Any ideas? Inspiron E1505 Windows XP
I upgraded my orginal iPhone (2G) to OS 3.0 yesterday, and it went smoothly. The only potential problem Im having is that voicemails are being delivered more than 2 hours after the missed call -- is anyone else having this problem? Not sure if this is an Apple issue or an AT&T one, but its reproducible on my phone. The only possibly related change Ive made is turning off the Repeat Alert in the settings. Can anybody else verify that this is a problem, or if its just my phone, by calling your phone, leaving a message, and seeing when you get the voicemail message?Thanks!--Mike MacBook Pro 2.5GHz, PowerBook G4/867, Mac Mini, iPhone, tv. This happens periodically where Ill be out of cell reception, get a call (unbeknownst to me), the person leaves a voicemail...but I dont get notified of it. I only discover its existence next time I happen to power cycle the phone, which is hardly ever.Anyone else have this issue? 3G iPhone OS 3.0
Hi,I bought the 1st Gen iPhone on launch day in the UK and have owned it ever since. I never upgraded to the 3G because of several reasons...1.) There is limited 3G signal in Northern Ireland.2.) I dont need the GPS Map feature, and if I did - id buy a Sat Nav.3.) I didnt fancy taking out another 18 month contract. They were the only main differences between the 1st Gen & 2nd Gen iPhones. Now the 3GS is being launched and people are saying there there isnt many main features that you wont already get with the 3.0 update... but if I upgrade, ill benefit from the 3G & GPS that ive never had, along with the video camera (and is there anything else apart from the compass & voice thingy?)So should I or should I not? Ive realized that PAYG is costing me just as much as my contract and ive lost the visual voicemail service and have the hassle of topping up every couple of weeks. A few of the 3.0 updates will not work with the 1st Gen iPhone so is it time to upgrade?I can buy the 16GB 3GS for £86 and take out a 2 year contract which means that ill miss the 4th Gen iPhone next year. I can sell my 1st Gen iPhone which is in mint condition with loads of accessories for £200 on PAYG which technically means that I can upgrade for free and get the first couple of months of my contract free also. What would you do if you had the 1st Gen iPhone? Alot of the new features look very useful but are we forgetting that everyone will get them with the 3.0 update, and not just by buying a new iPhone? 15.4" MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB Mac OS X (10.5.6) iPhone 8GB (2.2.1)

My wife told me that over the past couple weeks she has called me and did not leave a voicemail message, but many of her calls are not listed in the recent calls list on my iPhone. After she said this yesterday I powered down and back up again and three voicemail messages from other callers showed up in my voicemail list but none of them (my wife or my the other callers) showed in the recent calls list.I was in-network with a good, strong signal all day yesterday. Whats up??? iphone iPhone OS 2.x
I have 2 iPhones, one for me one for my wife. After installing 3.0 i can receive calls as normal on my iPhone but my wifes phone shows only 3 bars and calls go directly to voicemail without ringing. My phone has all 5 bars up right next to hers. Everything else seems to work fine on her. Now my phone on the other hand is slow, sticky keyboard, apps crash, apps take longer than usual to load, even the ones that were updated for OS3 specific. My phone works but is very sluggish. Any solution to all this mess?P.S.: All apps and settings gone after upgrade, no restore functionality on both my iPhones. What a pain! Ok, let me try this another way, since apple does not allow its paying customers to post any negative opinions on here about their partners and keeps deleting my post. So can someone please help me with my problem!!!! I have an iPhone 3G and have had a severe problem with dropped calls when I first got it. I had the phone replaced and the dropped calls are not as bad, but still more of a problem than they were with any other network. Lately I have had several occasions when someone calls me and my phone never rings at all. They leave me a voicemail and I do not get notified for hours or days, and in one instance (that I know of, could be more) the voicemail just disappeared all together!!!! I have spent countless hours with AT&T tech support, and they have yet to fix the problem. Is anyone else having this problem??? Is it the phone or AT&Ts network??? Its pretty sad that I cant depend on my iPhone as a phone. Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Ok, so I got impatient last night and I decided to download the 3.0 update. I put it on my phone and it worked fine, but I noticed that the visual voicemail was gone and I got a little paranoid. So I decided to try and put 2.2.1 back on my phone the same way I put 3.0 on. (option-click on the restore button). Im not sure what happened exactly, but it didnt work and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. I try to connect it to itunes and do the restore and upgrade button, but it comes back with and unknown error code (20). So, my question is...am I really screwed, or am I just without my phone until the 3.0 update comes out officially? MacBook Mac OS X (10.5.7)
I have never had this problem with the exception of one time. Last time I just restarted my phone and my voicemails popped up. I can access my voicemail by tapping on 1 or by calling my line but my visual vm does not work? any idea how to fix this? iphone
Have you guys had the problem where when someone calls you the iPhone goes straight to voicemail? Here lately it has been doing this and also when Im on my Pandora app.
Hello all, im not quite sure where to submit ideas to apple for consideration so ill post this idea ive got here. With all this talk of a front facing camera on an iPhone, most people only think the use of such a thing will be for video conferencing. Now what if it can be used for leaving a recorded video voice mail, and heres how it will work.Someone with an iPhone will call another person with an iPhone and if that person does not pick up some how the AT&T network detects the type of phone being used and the type of phone the other user on the receiving end has. So when it hits his voice mail it will give an option if youd like to leave a personal video message and if yes it will then activate the video camera on the front of your phone, record for 30 sec, compress and then transmit via 3g or WiFi. When the other person checks his visual voicemail it will download and play using the iPhone quicktime software. MBP Core2 Duo 2.16Ghz Mac OS X (10.5.7) 2 gigs Crucial RAM, Radeon x1600 128megs
Okay Ill be sitting with my phone right next to me, on loud or vibrate or whatever. Anyway, someone will call, BUT I WONT KNOW IT. There will be no indication that they have called. If I hit my home button, it will just be as if no one is calling me. If they leave a voicemail, in a few minutes, I will get a notification of a voicemail. That is it. I dont have one new missed call or anything. They wont even be listed in my call log. This has been happening for about half of my calls for a week and a half. I have done like four hard resets on my phone as of late - I dont know why this is happening! It is very frustrating when someone is trying to get a hold of me! Oh and I would also like to mention is that Ive had my iPhone since October and this hasnt happened to me except recently. It happens when I am using an application and also when I am not and it is just sitting next to me. I am usually on edge or wifi (mostly wifi) as the area I live in doesnt have 3G yet.Anyone have a clue? Thanks.
Probably because I am in a poor O2 UK service area where I live I keep getting an error message - Network Lost - Your selected cellular network (is unavailable, etc.) - and asking me to Dismiss or select another. Can I stop this near constant interruption (but without turning the phone system off) - I can see the 3G signal is poor from the lack of bars in the strength indicator at top left of my screen. It is OK in town, so is working when really needed. Mac Mini + iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.5.6)
I went to set up my voice mail on my iphone and I choosed to have it be the animated kind, set-up my password. But I cant get voicemail, am I missing somehting? when i try and set up a custom voicemail greeting, i hit save and after about 30 seconds it times out and says error: voicemail greeting cannot be saved.its not a mic issue because ive pressed play each time to listen to the greeting first. ive rebooted the phone and reset my network settings, but neither has helped. im on rogers in canada if that possibly makes a difference MacBook Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Greetings. I have 2 phones with the same phone number. I am a carpenter, therefore I dont use the iphone at work. I pop the sim out from the iphone, and use it in a Nokia at work. The problem I have been having is, the iphones visual voicemail no longer alerts me that I have voicemail messages. I have been just having to call the actual voicemail phone number to retrieve my voicemails. I called At&t and they said that the iphone doesnt support sim swapping. Hi Im having a problem with my iphone 3g... my visual voicemail works fine, I can see it and can hear my greeting. The problem is when a friend calls me, if i ignore the call or dont pick it up, it will give them a busy signal rather than my voicemail. The online service to request replacement or repair of iPhone accessory which is still under warrany, seems to be down at the moment. I found similar inquiry from another Apple customer, dated Apr 25, which indicates that the issue might have been in existance since or even before then. Does anyone know when the service is going to be restored, or if there is an alternative way to submit a claim? Windows XP
I got my iPhone just 5 months ago, and I really have not run into too many problems with the hardware until this week. I have had a slider case (made by Incase) on the phone since I got it. All of a sudden, this week the screen started freezing on the end call screen. The only way to get rid of this screen was by resetting it by holding down the sleep and home switches. The first couple times I thought it was a fluke incident, but it has gotten to the point where I have to reset the phone 3-4 times a day, which just seems unreasonable. It also has not been receiving voicemail until 5 hours after it has been left (maybe that one is an ATT thing). I have read numerous threads on forums blaming the issue on the case, but I have had this case on it pretty much since I got the phone. Got any advice/would this be covered under Apples warranty? Hi, I couldnt find a previous topic on this. I got a long voicemail (4 minutes), and when Im trying to play it, it only makes it about half the way into it before stopping completely. It looks as if it hasnt downloaded completely. I tried restarting the phone... any other suggestions? Thanks.
Hi, how can I get this working? because im missing important messages and I cant be checking every 5 minutes! Thanks very muchRich Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Hi,This doesnt happen every call, but probably every 30-40 calls. Ill be in the middle of a call and when Im done Ill tap the red End Call button. The button will darken as usual but then when I release my finger it will light back up again and act as if I never pressed it. No matter how many times I press it (it still darkens each time) it will just light back up again. Pressing the home button doesnt end it (it still runs in the background with the green timer bar on top). The only way to end it is if the other party hangs up (which is not possible when leaving a voicemail) or turning the phone off. Force quitting by holding down the home button doesnt work either, as it doesnt look the the Phone Dialer app can be force quit. Thanks for your help! Hi All;My Iphone is on a corporate plan and they have canceled the visual voicemail feature. I was told by AT&T that I can press 1 for couple seconds and listen to my voice mail. my iPhone was working perfectly untill at the weekend someone rang me and I could not hear them. I tried ringing a few people and my voicemail and the problem persisted. The other person can hear me ok but I cant hear them. The thing is, I cant hear them on speaker phone or handsfree either. I have restored the phone a few times and still no luck. The only advice I can find using google is for the common constantly on hands free issue. I assume that since it happens when on handsfree & speakerphone that its not a hardware issue. I can play music and video fine on both speakerphone & hands free. Anyone any ideas? Macbook Mac OS X (10.5.6)
Hi,I have had my Iphone 3G for a week. It works perfectly all the time, except when I try to receive a phone call.It first happened a few days ago. I sent a text and a minute later I just had a blank screen. I forced a restart to the phone and once the apple logo went, the phone rang continuously I could not answer it or decline it. I forced the phone to restart again and exactly the same thing happened. But this time, after 3 minutes, it restarted itself. It then seemed to be ok, until I was half way through a phone call to my voicemail (that I dialed myself), when the screen just went blank (I was on speakerphone). I couldnt hang up, so I just left the phone plugged in charging.I have restored my phone, followed other advice on message boards, but still, everytime someone rings me, it either goes straight to voicemail, or it does the constant ringing thing until I force the phone to re-boot.Please help! iPhone 3G Other OS
Just happened. phones on my desk and i get a voicemail notification, never rang. And they just called according to the VM tag. It seems this has happened alot recently. My friend said she tried to call a few times yesterday, only saw 2 missed calls. Then in an area or normal reception had no signal, turned airplane on and off and nothing. turned it off and on and it found reception. Its rathering troubling to know people are trying to call but they phone wont even let me know unless they leave a VM. Anyone else have this happen to them? Im almost always at full signal on edge. Hello all,I have a very unique problem with my 3g iPhone. I actually thought all iPhones did this until it really became an annoyance and I started asking around about it, and it seems to only be affecting me. Anyway, anytime my battery nears 20 %, and anything below, I loose the signal on my phone until I touch it again. For example...My battery will hit the 20 % mark, Ill get the warning message. Ill send somebody a text message, 45 minutes will go by and I wont get a reply. Ill pick up my phone to see if the message sent. I unlock the phone, and it freezes for just an instant. Then, the signal, that was once showing full, drops to nothing (no edge, wifi, bars, nothing) then fills back up in a few seconds and I will receive a voicemail, 3 text messages and emails. Ill set the phone down again, and it continues to happen every time the phone goes idle for more than like 10 or 15 minutes, ONLY when the battery is below 20 % and once the phone is charged, it stops until it drops again. I had the original iPhone since launch, and I bought the 3g the day it came out, so I know Im not doing something wrong.i send it for service to greek vodafone and they dont see the problem.I need a replacement , right?
