The one where you hear calls/listen to voicemail..that speaker.Okay, I got syrup in the speaker, & tried getting it out with my nail & then used a toothpick. I got all of the syrup out, but when I checked my voicemail right after that happened, you could barely hear anything. I also made a phone call, still couldnt hear. I can plug my headphones in & hear. This also happened to one of my old phones (PalmCentro) but I fixed it by pushing the speaker back out from behind. iPhone you cant do that, because theres no way to push it out. I think it got pushed back like my Centros speaker did. How do I fix this? windows iPhone OS 3.1.3
Hi, Im new to the forums as of today. I had a 3G for a while, upgraded because of the OS4 issues (to a Samsung Galaxy) then went back and ordered an iPhone 4 instead because, well... I love the interface, apps, and my iTunes music that I was unable to port over. Not a fan of the mp3/computer interfacing of android phones, I think the sync stuff with iTunes is far more user friendly. But...onto my real issue/questionLong story short, I did like one feature from the Galaxy and that was to auto-reject a call with a filler text message such as Im driving or will call back, and I cant figure out how or if we can do this on an iPhone.Ive done some research on this and some google suggestions such as http://www.programmerfish.com/send-auto-sms-on-iphone-4/ say this feature is automatic on this phone since its an iPhone 4 but every time I double click the power button it just sends the call to voicemail with no such interface to send a reject message etc. Does anybody know what the deal is? Such a thing would be handy and I dont see why Apple wouldnt build this into these phones. Are these articles lying? iPhone 4 iOS 4
For some reason when I get a call and it goes to my voicemail. I never get notification that I have a voicemail unless, I reboot/respring my phone or today when I got a call about 1 min into the call my voicemail notification went off. Anyone else having this issue?? MacBook Pro 15.4" Mac OS X (10.6.4) iPhone 4 16GB
Ive noticed that I can create a contact with a dial string that includes non numerics, and can successfully place a call from that contact entry. For example, the following dial string, 1115551212,,123456# will dial (111)555-1212, pause for a few seconds, and then enter 123456#. This could be useful for dialing into a corporate voicemail system and then having the phone automatically transmit your password digits so you dont have to fumble with manual password entry. However, Ive discovered that if the exact same string is included in the subject of an email, when you click on the number youre asked if you want to dial the number (same as clicking on any number in an email subject line or text body), but when you click on Dial, nothing happens. It appears that the mail application is unable to pass a dial string with non-numerics to the phone application, even though you can dial the exact same string from a contacts entry successfully.Anyone know if theres a fix in the works for this issue, or possibly a workaround? iPhone 3GS iOS 4

says they dont charge your account until the item actually ships. My iPhone is still not shippet yet, however, a couple days after I placed my order and it cleared, my account was deducted the appropriate amount ($560).What is going on, can somebody please help me? I dont want to have to contact my bank, they are such a headache to deal with.My concern is that when my iPhone ships in a few days, I will be charged/deducted again??? I have an iPhone 4 and when I receive a phone call the backlight illuminates for two rings and then goes black. The phone will continue to ring, but the screen will stay black until the home button it pressed. After the call, the screen will sometimes stay black and I will have to push the home button to light the screen to end the callI checked the boards and there was a fix for this by turning zoom off- I checked mine and it is off.We checked several other iPhones and when a call is received the screen will stay lit until it goes to voicemail iOS 4
Hello everyone,Here is my recurring problem:Every time I turn my iPhone 4 off and back on, the visual voicemail asks to be set up again (when Ive done it over 10 times now!). I tried resetting the network settings, taking out the SIM, and even called my phone company. They said that the issue is from Apple and has nothing to do with cell phone reception or what not... They said they have gotten a lot of calls with this issue?I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem...?How do I fix this so I dont need to reset my voicemail everytime I reboot?!?!Thank you in advance.Message was edited by: bumblebumble MacBook Mac OS X (10.6.3)
Hi folks -- please help!I used old Nokia phones for years (yes, rather behind the times) and just got the iPhone4. Great in many respects but seems to have a serious limitation re: alerting you that you have a new voicemail or text message. On my old Nokia phone, lets say I was away from my phone, I missed a phone call and the caller left me a voicemail message. When I got back to my phone -- without doing anything to the phone or even picking it up -- there would be a little flashing light on the side of the phone that would blink, alerting me that theres a new message I need to check. Now, if Im away from my iPhone or not doing anything on it -- i.e., the screen is off -- and I get a voicemail or a text message, when I return to my phone there is no way for me to see that I have a new message, UNTIL I turn on the screen and start doing something on the phone (at that point, yes, I see the little blue message on my screen). This, to me is a SERIOUS limitation, which has already led me to miss some time-sensitive voicemail messages, because I wasnt actively using my phone (or was away from the phone) and didnt realize there was even a message for me.Am I missing something here? Is there some feature I should enable? If not, I hope Apple fixes this soon! Thanks, sselis iPhone4 iOS 4

Sometime around 7/22/10, I stopped getting notifications of new voicemail messages. I did not discover this until today, 8/9/10. AT&T wasnt much help, but a message from another forum said to try reset all settings. I did this and it got the indicator working again. Try settings>general>reset>reset all settings. I lost my wallpaper and I had to reset the voicemail password (which I didnt know, but learned it was my phone number without the area code). Send yourself a voicemail ahead of time so you know if this works. It should show up. Hope this helps! MacBook Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I have a unlocked iphone 3g, unlocked by o2, now using a BT Mobile sim and running on 4.01. I have changed the voicemail number to 1571 by using *5005*86*1571#, have used the code to check and says 1571 is stored. But when i use the 1 or voicemail icon i just get a few bleeps, i think because its dialling a different number. Dialing 1571 manually works fine.Any ideas anybody. Thanks 3g iOS 4
So I have a new iPhone 4 with the limited (200 MB) data plan from AT&T. I plan to keep all data (EDGE and 3G) off 95% of the time since home & work have wifi.My question is, will Visual voicemail still notify me of new voicemails if I have data off; then I could turn data on to retrieve the voicemail audio? On a related note, if you are in an area with no data service, how does the iPhone notify you of new voicemails?I havent found a definite answer to this question in my searching. iOS 4
Hi!My iphone is not showing the caller id on all receiving calls. But if the caller leaves a voicemail then it shows whos it from, therefore who was calling. As everyone can understand, its very frustrating cause, there are some calls I do not want to answer and some that its mandatory I pick up. And its impossible to tell one from the other without CALLER ID. I am paying for this feature with ATT and Ive already restored my phone. Any other ideas?Thank you! Imac iOS 4 Iphone 3 GS

Does anyone know a good way to put a DND (do not disturb) on incoming phone calls? The idea is to send calls directly to voice mail while still leaving the phone on to receive email & text messages. While at work or in meetings, it would be nice to not be bothered by calls especially from specific people. Ideally it would be really nice to one or all of the following:-Function to send all calls to voice mail without ringing-An option when an incoming call is coming in to send the person to voicemail with the choice of a prerecorded message such as In a meeting or At work etc.-Send specific people to voice mail without ringing, possibly with a prechosen message. Hi, I hope someone can help me!I got my iPhone 4 today and I came home to find out I cant hear any incoming/outgoing calls. It says it is calling/connecting to the person but there is no sound, not even a static sound. I know my speakers work because it has a ringtone. I also know the ear speaker works because I can listen to voicemail. I dont know what it is about the call. Ive tried restoring the phone, restarting, resetting all the settings, but nothing works. Hi. Firstly Id just like to say that I have been on 2 different networks. Ive had an iPhone 3G, 3GS and now a 4. Every time Ive had the same issue. My iPhones, dont always ring. It started with o2 when I had a 3G and later a 3GS. People would ring, their phones would be ringing, then it would just go to voicemail after the set period of time. My iPhone wouldnt vibrate or make a noise.Next, I got an orange contract, and moved my 3GS. A similar story. Someone would call me, it would go straight to voicemail, and whether they left a message or not, as soon as they ended the call I would get an SMS message to say that I had missed a call, as though my phone was switched off. This also happens with my new iPhone 4.Could anyone please recommend a fix for this? This is random and can happen in a number of locations, when I have full signal strength, 3G, WIFI, you name it.Ive had an iPhone now for a long time and I can remember it ever happening with my other phones. But since I have a micro-sim and no adapter, I cant try it in another phone.ThanksJoe Macbook White Mac OS X (10.6.4) iPhone 4 - 4.0.1
Hi,I just got rid of visual voicemail and switched over to regular voicemail. Everything is working fine, except the notifications part. For some reason, there is a red circle (without numbers) on the phone icon and voicemail icon inside the phone app. I cant get rid of this notification and its really starting to annoy me.After searching the web, I found out that the red circle will appear to indicate new voicemail messages, even without visual voicemail, the only difference being that it wont display the number of new messages. However, I dont have ANY new voicemail messages. Ive reset my phone also, but nothing is working. Please help! iPhone 3G iOS 4
Hi I am pushing out iPhones to some users at work, the problem is we have our own voicemail server. What i need to do is edit the iPhone 4 (and 3Gs) so when i press the voicemail icon it rings our server and not O2.I have tried *5005*86*new# without any success, i have also tried editing the carrier support file, or at least i would if i had one (the folder is empty)Any help with this problem would be most greatful.CheersAndy PC iOS 4

Ive got a brand new 16GB iPhone 4 with Telus (Canada). I previously had an iPhone 3G, so the phone and its inner workings are no mystery to me. However, something about Visual voicemail is bugging me.I set up VV, set my password, create a greeting. Away we go. If I keep the Phone app open in multitasking, all is peachy... but the moment I close it, I lose all my voicemail. It asks me to set it up all over again D:Ive left the app open overnight, giving it plenty of time to sync to the servers, but it still happens. Suddenly I cant delete any of my voice mails. Voice mail takes me to the voicemail page and it list the last 5 voice mails I received and I can listen to them over and over or it will take me to the contact information for the person that left the voice mail, but there is nothing else on the page other the greeting and speaker icons. Back when we were able to download the visual voicemail on our phones, I followed the steps it said, which including restoring my phone. I did that but I had the problem where people would leave me voicemails and it would not show up. The only way I would know if their was voicemails was by holding down 1 and checking it that way. I hadnt resolved the issue. And now last night I had downloaded the new iso4 software and it is all installed correctly I thot, but when I try access my visual voicemail it says voicemail unavailable - could not authorize access. If I got into my settings and change voicemail password it does the same thing. Why am I getting this message? I am confuzed. Please help. Windows XP iOS 4
1-2 time/month I go to use my 3G iPhone and it has an error msg that I have no SIMM card. I no not receive calls or msgs - nor can I send. The fix is simple - I power off the iPhone and restart and the 3G network icon & signal strength both return to normal. But, why do I get this error? Unless I try to use the phone I do not know I have this problem - and anyone that calls goes immediately to voicemail - but I dont know that. My other concern is that this problem is going to increase in frequency. Is there a fix that prevents this? Secondarily, is this a iPhone issue or is this being caused by my AT&T network? 3G iPhone iPhone OS 3.1.3
My visual voicemail seems to be broken. Im currently running 4.0.1 on my phone and I originally noticed this problem after upgrading to 4.0. I found out something was wrong because the other night I switched my phone to Airplane mode and a red dot appeared on the phone saying that Visual voicemail was not available. So I held down the 1 on my keypad and called my voicemail. Turns out I had voicemail messages ranging from a few days prior to a couple weeks ago. I had no idea any of these were there and if it wasnt for the red dot coming up after switching to Airplane mode Im convinced I still wouldnt know I had unheard voicemails. Ive tried numerous things including holding down the buttons until the phone restarts and that doesnt seem to work. My missed calls are also not always working because one of the voicemails I had never showed up from a missed call. That was the one from a couple weeks ago. Also, it might show I have a missed call and the caller may leave a voicemail but it wont show up as a voicemail. Again, the only way to check and see if the caller left a message is to hold down the 1 key on the keypad and check voicemails that route. Even though I have everything backed up I really dont want to reset or restore my phone and lose all my settings and data including data and phone counters.Any ideas? I am looking for an app (or workaround) that will enable my iPhone to block selected callers, either incomming calls or SMS. So, nothing shows up on my phone. Calls go straight to voicemail. SMS messages DO NOT pop ups. On my old Treo I could do this via app called Call Shiled. worked great. I am aware I can do this thru my carrier for a cost per number. I also aware of airplane mode. Following the upgrade to OS 4.0 upgrade, voicemail was working fine until Saturday, July 18th. Since then, voicemail messages are being left, however they are not accessible via my iPhone 3G. Since upgrading to iOS 4.0.1 on my 3GS the phones call behaviour has changed dramatically. The phone displays average to good levels of signal strength (as in 1 to 4 bars) in all areas of my home.In spite of this, outgoing calls fail to connect (sitting on the calling screen until I get bored of waiting), incoming calls are often diverted straight to voicemail when the phone is sitting right next to me and text messages fail to send.Has anyone else noted similar problems? The text messaging issue has been present since day one, but I have never had these call-related problems before. Why would my phone say it has signal and behave like it does not? America is often derided as being a backward country from a mobile phone network point of view. Whilst it is true they (on some US networks) are afflicted with CDMA rather than the superior GSM/3G system they at least are giving the impression of trying to improve things.UK - only one network offers a MiFi (Three)US - MiFis are everywhereNote: The above might explain why sales of 3G iPads are so much higher in UK/Europe than the US, in the US customers (who are far more intelligent than the network providers) are sensibly buying MiFi instead. Here in UK/Europe we often dont have that choice.UK - only one network (Vodafone) offers Femtocells (aka. personal or micro cells). O2 who arguably need these the most, dont have any plans to offer them.US - anyone can have one, sometimes free of chargeUK - even though now every single UK network offers the iPhone, only one supports Visual voicemail for the iPhone (O2), not even a MVNO like Tesco which runs on the O2 network supports Visual voicemail. Does anyone know any news about the other UK networks addressing this?US - all of the networks supporting the iPhone provide Visual voicemail (hah hah yes there is of course only one network supporting the iPhone).Note: I am surprised Apple has let so many networks get away with not offering Visual voicemail. This was originally one of the big new things supposedly brought in with the original iPhone to change the primitive previous offerings the networks provided. Every single US and Canadian network offering the iPhone supports it, but in the rest of the world - even Europe it is rarer than hens teeth. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937UK - iPhone only gets a fraction of the data allowance a 3G data-dongle gets, even though the charge for data is the same for both types of devices, this is a miserable 500MB from O2 and T-Mobile, 750MB from Orange, 1GB from Vodafone, compared to 2GB or 3GB for 3G data dongles. If MiFi devices were available more widely in the UK, you could be better of getting one to use with your iPhone! (As you will get a bigger data allowance.)US - AT&T still give you a generous 2GB data allowance for the iPhone - 400% more than O2.UK - None of the UK networks even know how to spell LTE (aka. 4G networks) let alone in which decade we are likely to get it.US - Sprint already has a very limited 4G service and Verizon are running full-blast on setting up theirs.I would say the UK has a third-world mobile network except most third-world networks are probably better!
