Apps cant get input from Mic Phone Can iphone 3g

I have an iphone 3g (MB500X) and i can make calls perfectly fine and people can hear me,yet when i try and use any app including,voice Memos (apple App)Skype (third Party)Visual Voicemail (apple app)Shazam (third party)The mic doesnt register any sound at all.If you BLOW into it it gets a spike but not registrable sound recording.If you use the headphones, everything is fine.i dont understand why. does the iphone have 2 mics? one for apps and one for calls?is anyone else having this problem, i kinda noticed it after 3.1.2 (7D11) was installed.How to fix this, i have tried restore, reset settings, its annoying, i want to use skype. iphone 3g iphone OS 3.1.2

HELP iphone Freezing Missing Calls Missing Texts 3g

Hello All!I am having by far the strangest issues with my iphone 3g. It started yesterday when someone was calling, usually you swipe left to right to unlock and pick up the call. Well the slide was non-responsive, as if it didnt recognize my finger. Then after the call rang through the contacts picture and name stayed frozen on the screen. After a minute of trying everything I eventually had to hold the power key and the home button on the front to reset the phone. That happened 4 or 5 times during the day, other times it answered fine. Also Id go to my recent calls to call someone back, and select their name, it would highlight in blue showing it was selected but would freeze, not dialing the contact or allowing me to scroll up or select any other contact. The only way to break loose was to hit the home key and get back to the main screen. It also happened with my text messages, after Id type the whole message when I hit send the button would go blue but not actually send the text and it would lock up, again only being able to get out of it by hitting the home button. Same issue with my contact book freezing when I selected a contact. On top of that, I talked to people later who said they sent me a text but I had no record of their text, or people who said they called yet I had no record of their call.All of these issues were intermittent, the phone would be screwed for 10-15min Id set it down, come back to it in a couple hours and it was fine. Itd work for a couple hours then just flake out again. I work in computer repair myself so obviously I tried to think what was the last change I made to the phone that would cause this. The last thing I did was download an app from the Apple store, but that was two weeks ago. Just the same I deleted it, however the problem still persists. I am very confused, and I cant find anyone else with the same problem, has anyone else heard of this or have any idea whats going on? 3g iphone OS 3.1.2

I just bought my new iphone 3g and was exploring the phone. I mistakenly pressed Reset button under settings (not even further reset buttons), after which all the application icons are missing, except for YouTube, Stocks, Weather, voice Memos, Clock & Settings. Even the phone options at bottom bar is missing. I cant even make phone or send text or access any of the iphone applications. I tried rebooting the phone couple of times, reset all factory settings, reset home screen layout, but nothing works. Restrictions are off. I cant figure out what to do. Ill be in Europe for ten days later this month. Id like to take my US ATT iphone with me to use purely for text messaging. I am pretty happy with my phone; had it for about 3 months, but would appreciate some advice from non-luddites and experienced iphone users.I bought a mophie case/battery extender, which has helped the battery a bit, but now read that its not the best option. Can you suggest which is the best option, just for future reference?Im interested in protecting myself against the lost phone, phone theft thing; I understand theres an app that you can use to track the phone if its lost or stolen. Can someone offer some advice about what this costs (Im in Australia); and how big an impact it would have on the battery to have the locater switched on all the time. (bearing in mind that Im not going to know when I am about to lose or have my phone stolen)those of you who have had iphones for a fair while, can you give some hints about extending the battery life? Ive pretty much shut down all the big power users so the life has improved. What is the current wisdom on completely discharging the battery once a month? Its so hard to keep up with changes in battery technology.And the other thing; how difficult/expensive is it to get it replaced? I have heard that its quite expensive to sort out a new battery for an ipod; is the iphone a huge hassle as well. It turned off just fine, but I tried to turn it back on, and now it is stuck on the black screen with the white apple. since I updated to the 3.1.3 version, Ive been having problems with my phone. Firstly my applications all would crash as soon as I opened it, but i fixed this by restoring it. However, I used to be able to record memos for hours, but now they always stop around 35min. New 3GS iphone-unable to send SMSTXT messages

I recently purchased a 16GB 3GS iphone and am somewhat disappointed with the product. I am now stuck with it, so must persist !My main issue, is the sudden and inexplicable loss of ability to send text messages ! The send icon no longer illuminates (as it is supposed to) and I cannot respond to, or send new text messages. This function worked as advertised for about five days prior to becoming unserviceable.I have updated the firmware/software via iTunes and have constantly rebooted the phone to no effect. Ive also withdrawn and re-inserted the SIM card.Nothing works !!My other major issue with this phone, is the degraded battery life !! I have turned off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3g and dimmed the display. I barely use the phone for voice conversations and usually only send 10-15 SMS/TXT per day. Removing Old Phone Numbers being referenced by iphone voice Control.

Hoping someone can help or direct me to where I can find the answer to my problem. Basically whats happening is when I use voice Control its referencing old phone numbers for certain people and I dont know how to get it to use the new number. The old numbers arent on the phone at all so not sure how to remove the reference it seems to be referring too? Is there some sort of cache file somewhere or something? Anyways appreciate the help. How to use non-US iphone in USA

Ill be traveling in the US for 3 months, but do not want to use my Austria-based Orange providers SIM card because of astronomical roaming charges, especially for data.I asked my provider Orange whether they would officially sim-unlock my iphone if I prepaid the rest of my 2 years contract (5 months to go) plus the €40 unlock fee, but they declined, saying that Apple does not allow locked iPhones to be unlocked before the 2-year contract is over. ?!?I now have used Cydia to jailbrake and and blackra1n to sim-unlock my iphone (vers. 3.2) : another SIM card now works (although I also experience a sluggish iphone, but that was even before the jailbrake!!!).My question: What plans (for voice AND data) are available in the USA that do NOT require a long-term contract, but say a monthly fee for as long as you use it? My iphone is now showing the predictive text and saying it outloud! I can not shut off the voice. Does anyone know how to shut this off? Everyone around you can hear it when you are texting! Hi,I have spent hours searching the App store for an App that can record my telephone conversations. I found 2. Recorder only works in US and CallRec.me works in most countries but in a most peculiar way; At the same time you make a call you also make a second parallel call to a server center and then you merge the two calls, via your phone. The server center apparently records the message and saves it. Any solution the means having to pay for two calls internationally or anywhere (I travel a lot) must be wrong. You cant start recording in the middle of a conversation without a pause while merging the call to the server center in. !#€/€()/€%#!#Please advice me in what to do. Isnt there any good recorder out there?I need the following (it exists for Nokia):1 - Be able to configure what calls to record (i.e black list/white list, incoming or outgoing or both).2 - Be able to record incoming or outgoing calls on the fly without have to start yet another App and take time to fiddle around. I mean it should all work in the background automatically.3 - A simple configuration; Record all calls I would like.Since I dont know in beforehand if a call I receive or make will be threatening or for any other reason worth recording the App most be simple to use, automatic and preferably incorporated into the standard dialing App. Of course you could make a new App for dialing your calls facilitating the recording of the call. How to reset iphone Favorites settings for Blueant Q1 to work

Hi, I have a Blueant Q1 bluetooth headset. This voice-controlled headset allows me to say Call speed dial 1/2/3/etc & have the iphone dial the 1st/2nd/3rd/etc number listed in the Favorites listing of the Phone app. However, recently, this hasnt worked. I can use the Favorites list by tapping names, but I cant use the Q1 to call names on the list.Ive tried the Q1 with another iphone & it works fine, so its a problem with the phone, not the headset. Ive tried resetting the Q1 & the iphone. Ive tried unpairing & repairing. Ive tried removing all names from the Favorites list & adding them one at a time again. All these have failed.I suspect there is a setting somewhere with preferences for the iphone Favorites which has become corrupt. Could this be the case? Where can I find these settings? hi allIn the UK a lot of people write their phone number in email sigs as +44 (0) xxxx. This means that if youre dialing in the UK you dial 0xxxxx and if you are abroad and calling the UK, youd dial +44 xxxx.I often need to dial a number from an email and the iPhones ability to offer me the option to call is very helpful. But the phone simply dials the number in the mail, which is often in the format +44(0)xxx xxx and it cant deal with that- I get a call failed message.Most other handsets Ive used in the past can deal with the +440xxx number but I end up having to create a temp contact and editing the number to remove the +44, which is a huge pain in the bum. After 3.1.3 upgrade voice mail alert window wants new password iphone

Since my 3.1.3 upgrade I have several problems but this is the worst. Alert window comes on all the time demanding new voicemail password. I have never changed my password and everything worked great until update. I have already done the restore on iTunes and selected new phone. When I called 611 I was told that apple would not help me because I had not bought applecare. This is like a car dealership putting bad gas in your new car and demanding you buy a warranty to fix it. iphone wont charge 3g

I am now on my third iphone in a year. The first had a defective radio transmitter rendering it useless for voice calls. The second would freeze and lock up endlessly. Now, the third one refuses to charge and is effectively a brick. I have tried reseting the iphone (both soft and hard reset), I have tried wall, USB, and car chargers, I have tried connecting the offending device to my PC and rebooting - all to no avail. When connected to my PC via USB, Windows reports an unknown device connected to the PC and states that the hardware connected to the USB port has malfunctioned. I have connected the iphone to two different PCs and receive the same message on both. I am frustrated to no end, especially when one considers that within the past year I have had 1x5thGen iPod die, 1xiPod Nano die and 1xiPod Classic die - all seemingly power related (none of these devices will charge any longer).Does anyone have any suggestions for how to resurrect this iphone? Apple must be making a killing off these devices short life spans and the standard recommendation that you upgrade for $99, $199, insert price here... I wonder if they have purposely designed these devices with subpar batteries as a revenue strategy. I have never had so many power issues with ANY device made by ANYONE. I have 3, 5 and 10 year old Blackberries that continue to work (and charge) flawlessly. The only device on the market that rivals the iphone for poor quality is the Sony PS3. iphone iphone OS 3.1.3

I purchased an iphone a couple weeks ago, and due to dropped calls returned it. After a week with another carrier (and an inferior phone), I realized that I couldnt live without the iPhones many assets. I just got a new iphone today, and the voicemail setup was different than what I remember from my first one. Both were 3g S phones.This time when I hit the voicemail button on the screen it called voicemail and made me go through the old school setup process with the automated voice. Is this common? HiI have a 16GB iphone with 02 in the UK.My first iphone with 02 had trouble receiving calls with about 90% of incoming calls going straight to voice mail. I also couldnt backup that phone as every time I tried with iTunes, i got the message Apple mobile device service has stopped working about a minute into backup.This happened continually, I re-installed iTunes so many times, still with little luck. I tried a different cable too. All on a brand new Dell Vostro desktop PC.So, I took the phone back to 02 with these problems. 02 promptly replaced my iphone.Now, I have exactly the same problem. I obviously have nothing to restore on the iphone as I was never able to back it up in the first place.Every time I try and backup the iphone I get the error Apple mobile device service has stopped working. Can I divert or block calls without using airplane mode iphone

Is it possible to block calls from coming in without using the airplane mode? Like with a Nokia you can set your phone to divert all your voice calls to your answerphone, but I cant figure out how to do this with the iphone. I dont want to use the airplane mode as I still want to be able to send and receive texts. Any ideas?

3.1.3 firmware iphone 3g headset not working properly anymore

Situation:iphone 3g 16GB, Firmware 3.1.3.Updated the other day, and now my apple headphones have stopped working properly. Basically, the pause button on the mic is now intermittent and the same button wont pause iPod functions.If I restart, it sometimes works OK for a little while then will stop working again. I have also noticed issues with some of the calls that I make being silent i.e. they connect, but when I speak the other end cant hear the voice.If I make the call to my own phone, it usually seems to work OK, which is typical!Anyone else having the same problem?The funny thing is that it has to be something that Apple should be responsible for...I use a MacBook, Snowleopard OS, iphone, and all original cables. I just accepted the latest s/w for my iphone; after the update the clock / calendar on the iphone are wrong, showing 8 hours ahead of the actual time. But when a call came in and it was recorded with the correct time of day in the recent calls list.Tried re-syncing but the problem remains.Are others getting this & any solutions or insight? Uconnect music iphone 3g

I have 2005 grand cherokee with the Bluetooth uconnect system. The iphone conects great and phone use is great. However, only handsfree functions. Today I discovered that in the voice memo app it gives the Bluetooth audio option for source. When selected it plays audio voice notes through the car stereo. It seems crazy that this same option is not available on the iphone within iPod function. I know the iphone is only seeing the uconnect as a handsfree but why shouldnt we be able to play audio (music) through the handsfree as a2dp functionality with the iphone is pathetic. Does anyone know of a way to open up this option in iPod or if apple is planning to. Phone is 3g. iphone iphone OS 3.0.1

Hey gang-I travel abroad for work a good bit and just got a new iphone 3gs. Im an ATT customer based in the USA. Can anyone tell me exactly how this applies. From my ATT brochure:Outside of the US, data usage incurred from delivery of Visual Voicemail messages will be charged at international ratesI guess Im confused. Does the delivery of Voicemail when abroad come out of the voice plan or the Data plan? If Data, then am I to assume that if you have Data roaming turned off, that you cant or wont receive voicemail? Intermittent 3g without moving around iphone

I had my O2 phone unlocked to use on orange UK just before Christmas. Everything worked fine for weeks- the 3g was sometimes patchy when moving around the city as to be expected but when I stayed still it was pretty reliable. About 2 weeks ago I noticed my 3g started to drop down to nothing instantly after being at full bars the minute before, then it would be back to full a minute later and so on.   Another thing that is strange is that sometimes I have a full 3g signal yet i still get the no data connection error in safari and pages will not load at all. This is happening every couple of days right now and its so frustrating - I went 2 hours with absolutely no data over 3g or GSM the other day!Yet another strange thing is the 3g switch itself. Sometimes I will turn 3g off and yet the signal wont drop out and come back up as GSM or EDGE as it usually does, it remains on 3g! Its almost as if the phone thinks it is still getting a 3g signal when it isnt OR the mechanism for actually changing the signal type isnt responding to the phones interface ie the switch. Sometimes the 3g symbol changes instantly to the o GSM symbol without any change in the level which again, suggests a confusion between signal types as it is unlikely the 3g would physically drop to nothing whilst GSM just happens to be at exactly the same signal strength. I went to the apple store a week ago - they ran diagnostics and reported that my phone was able to pick up 92% of available signal. They suggested I get a new sim and do a deep restore on the phone and set up as new phone both of which I have done. I went back today and they said as I was out of warranty (even though this handset is only 3 months old as it replaced another fault!) I would have to pay £139 for a replacement. My concern is that this is not a handset fault but a firmware update fault- I have read many other similar stories that all happened after the last 3.1 update which included a carrier settings update so Im dubious about forking out £139 when I cant be sure what is at fault. Also I know nobody else with an iphone on Orange UK to compare with. voice calls and SMS are not affected by these problems. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having the same problems and if so, if they have come to find a solution. Any light that can be shed will be very welcome!Thanks guysJoe     24" iMac 2.4 GHz, Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Ok, so I do not know how plausible this would be but it would be awesome if it were possible. With todays technology i think it would be. Anyway, I had this thought as i was writing down a major plot point to my story and the phone rang. Well I didnt get it cause i was in the middle of something. SO then i had this thought. WHAT IF THERE A BUTTON YOU COULD PRESS WHEN dialing A NUMBER THAT GAVE YOU THE CHOICE TO MAKE IT AN URGENT CALL OR A REGULAR CALL...then the other phone that would be ringing would ring faster, or in a different ring tone if it were urgent, and regularly if it was a regular call. I have 3GS and love it - but Im stymied as to how I can download voicemails into my Mac - the files are digital, so it shouldnt be any problem to have iTunes import them the way that voice Recorder does.The reason this is important is that my carrier seems to believe that if I havent deleted a voicemail, they should. I have an unlocked UK iphone, which O2 legally unlocked for me. I am now moving back to the US and dont want to get into a two-year contract with AT&T until I can see that their coverage is worthy. Does anyone know a US carrier who will provide both voice, text and DATA support to an iphone on pay as you go? During Christmas, I was in the US and got a PAYG sim from AT&T, but despite paying $20 for a data package, AT&T no longer supports data on PAYG plans. Hi, Im looking into purchasing an iphone, sign up for voice and Data plans, and cancel the voice plan since Ill be using mostly data. I would like to make occasional calls via Skype. Would this work?Would I be charged a ETF, if so, how much?I guess I would make outgoing calls through the Skype App, download an app to keep it in the background?How would incoming calls work--I the Skype APP would ring?
