Really hot iPhone iPhone 5

I just bought an iPhone 5 this past Friday for my first smartphone with Verizon, and I have been pretty happy with it so far, though I haven't been using it too heavily. Today, I had it with me all day long, and it seemed like the more I used it, it got pretty hot. Even hot to the point where I couldn't hold it in my hand in an air conditioned room. When this started to happen, I noticed a small spot in the upper right hand corner of the screen that turned yellow, almost like a sunspot. Seeing that, I turned it off for a bit, then turned it back on, and it was still there. I then didn't touch it for awhile, let it cool down, and when it did, the spot disappeared.  So I brought it back to vErizon where i brought it, and by that time it colled off and the spot gone, so they couldn't help me, but they did say to bring it to the Apple store and they can plug it in to see how hot it has been in the past. Is there any way that I can look at this myself rather than driving the distance to go to one, because there's not one incredibly close to me. Also, has anyone heard about this spot before?  I'm worried about the heat output of these thigns because when my Otterbox comes in the mail, i'm worried about that heating up then shutting itself down, because my ipod does that from time to time in it's Defender. Thoughts? Thanks

International texting charges iPhone

My friend is on a class trip to Germany. He has been texting me on his ipod, through wifi, with a texting app called text free. I have an iPhone with unlimited texting. We have not been texting through iMessage, just SMS, but he is sending them from his ipod. Will I be charged gobs of money for "international texting" or is it part of my data plan since he is using wifi? HELP!

sharing Apple ID iPhone 3G

I started with one iPhone. Then an ipod was added. Then another ipod. And now 2 more iPhones. The phones are all under an A T & T family plan. When setting them up I used the same Apple ID so we would all be able to get the same apps. I'm not sure if this is correct. It is causing problems because any apps that are added to one device it automatically goes to all the other devices. And calendar events are popping up on other devices. Also whenever a device is plugged in to the computer to charge or update, they all say katie's phone which is the original device. How do I get iTunes to recognize each individual device? Any help would be appreciated.

I have an Iphone 5,   I dont use Siri very often but tried to use it the other day and it does not respond, I have read other threads - tried resetting, backing up, tried everything that was suggest and still no luck. I know its not the wifi as my son has ipod and siri works on this without any problems. Im not sure what else to try, the phone is not very old, but, out of the 90 days support,  any one any ideas PLEASE!!!!

Iphone 5 wifi drops every time I stream BT Home Hub router

Ok this is the second iPhone 5  I've had and I'm having the same issue as the one I've just replaced, the phone is dropping the wifi connection whenever anything is streaming, i.e. YouTube, NetFllix, Podcsts etc... Apple support said it may be my router but every other device in the house is fine, iPad 2, ipod Touch my wifes iPhone 4 and my Macbook. My question is could it be an incopatability issue with my BT Home  Hub 2 router and iPhone 5? I've tried all of the troubleshooting suggested by apple support but the issue continues. I've also tried other possibilities from this and other forums and nothing seems to fix the issue. I'm opening a new thread because of the significance of the router which I think my be the problem but have no idea to be honest. I wished I'd kept my old iphone 4 it was solid and the battery life on this new phone is just shocking! Any help or ideas would be appreciated cheers

How much will it cost to repair smashed back of my iPhone 4

Okay, so today I leant over to pick up my ruler which I'd dropped and my iPhone slipped out of my pocket. Ironically, I'd put it in the inside pocket so it wouldn't slip out, and I've had it for 6 months and have been very careful with it until today. Needless to say I am absolutely gutted about this, and am hoping to replace the back of it. Looking online, some people claim that if I took it to an Apple store, they would either replace it for free or I would have to pay £29, however I'm not sure whether Apple have changed their policy about free first time repairs since the release of the iPhone 5/4S. I'm willing to pay because it was my own fault, but I wanted to know how much it would be before waltzing into an Apple store.  One other thing, would I have to tell my Mum? Because she recently told off my younger sister for smashing the screen of her ipod and used me as an example of being careful, and I know she'd be devastated by this too. (Not to mention how much she'd freak out about it!)  I don't want to replace the back myself with cheaper parts from eBay because I know it'll damage my warranty if I do (I'm not sure whether smashing the screen comes under the warranty, I don't think it will.).

Hi all, This is two questions rolled into one thread, really, but here goes. My friend Jacob has an iPhone 5 that seems to have been giving him trouble. The wifi is incredibly weak, the front camera doesn't work and the screen is slightly patchy. The phone is still under warranty, but I just wanted to check beforehand whether a visit to the genius bar would fix this? Secondly, he won't be around for the next two weeks to make that visit himself,  so he's left the iPhone with me. My question is, would try still replace the phone if he isn't there? They don't require ID or anything, do they?  Oh, and he restored the phone before he left, so now it's stuck in the activation screen... Will that be a problem?

I only recently upgraded from iOS5 to iOS6 and now my apps are crashing constantly and my email won't load iPhone 4

I had put off upgrading my iPhone 4 to the iOS6 and only gave in to it about a week ago when I thought that the trouble I was having with a select few apps was because of my outdated operating system. Now, I'm regretting it terribly and would either like to know how to revert back to iOS5 or fix this irritating as all **** and unproductive system. I had backed up my phone right before upgrading thinking that that way, I could just restore to it if I didn't like iOS6, but now I'm seeing that restoring to that point does not in fact restore firmware. Now I have a maps app that won't help me plan through public transit.An email app that will not update my inbox or any box even though it falslely says it checked and there was simply nothing new.Every other app I have crashes constantly.When I turn on the ipod/music function, there's an extended delay before the music will actually start playing.The shuffle function is messed up (if I'm playing a tracklist of 38 songs, it will only shuffle a few of them and just keep looping through those few tracks).etc etc My contract is almost up and I was hoping that all the negative stuff I had heard about iOS6 would have been resolved by now so that I could confidently by the next iPhone, but at this rate, I'll be ditching Apple's phone entirely.

Hi every one I posted this same problem up a few months ago and i have tried everything that people had posted and i havent managed to fix the problem. So im just going to run through it again and hope someone might come through with something new that i havent tried so here goes this is the story. My iPhone 5 or iPad Mini used to connect to itunes fine but now have suddenly stopped for some reason. Im sure that the problem is something thats changed on my computer because it connects to an other laptop no problem so something isnt right. Ive tried pretty much everything on the apple site that people have recomended but was just woundering weather anyone knew anything else. I also have an ipod Nano but this has the old 30pin connector lead and heres the weird thing it connects no problem so why does the iphone and ipad not connect ?????? I have tried differnt leads and a connector which connects to my iphone then connects with a 30 pin connector and no luck . Any help would be very grateful Thanks

I'm planning on buying the iphone 5 because I have an upgrade available. I have never owned an iphone before, but I do have an 2gn ipod which has 8 gbs and has 2 apps and have used 5.5 of my 6.84 gbs available with songs(1175 songs). I have also have 30 photos, and have 1.5 gbs left to fill. If I do get the iphone 5 I will not put music on it, because I have my ipod. I would like to have a lot of apps though, because I like to test them out, and give reviews on them. I have a fair amount of photos in my current phone(around 400), but the camera quality is not that good, and I think because the iphone 5 have a lot more gbs than my current one that I will want to take more than I usually do(although I would probably upload them onto my computer and delete the originals off my phone). I don't have that many contacts and I have a tablet where I play my games and movies on, so that is not an issue. I know this is a bit long but I really want to make the right choice because I plan on having this phone until my next upgrade which is in 2 years. I want to know if 16gbs should be enough or if should I go with the 32gbs? OR if I should just wait for the newer version to come out, and if this is worth to buy. I would also would like to know what the perks and downsides are too. Thank you for your patience and time.

when i bought my iphone5 the volume was the same as that of my ipod. after i ve updated it to ios 6.1.4 the volume has degraded. Is this due to the ios update or in the manufacture of the iphone 5 ? kindly help

iPhone images won t restore after phone reset

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iPhone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iPhone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone. Now the problem is images. There is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file. In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space.  Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found. She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iPhone are not here, where are they? Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again? Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received... The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iPhone and images previously uploaded from the laptop. Cheers Chipontheroad

I recently purchased an iPhone 5 (Monday, May 6th) and am convinced that the battery is defective. I attempted to get the phone replaced by AT&T since it is within their 14-day Return/Exchange policy, but of course they denied me based on it being a "technical" issue and therefore a problem I need to take up with Apple. Whatever that means.Background info: Left the house around 10:00 AM, battery fully charged at 100%Finished class at 12:00 PM, battery dropped to 53% (VERY minimal use, I was sitting through a lecture)Arrived at AT&T store at 12:15 PM, battery at 51%AT&T Rep turns off LTE, Wireless, Location Services, Bluetooth and Auto BrightnessThe only apps that were opened/used were Text, Mail (fetch set to Manual) and SafariAT&T Rep says there's nothing he can do, but these changes should "help"Left AT&T 12:25 PM, hopped on bus, got home at 12:45 PM, battery drops to 43% (ZERO use)Call nearby Apple store at 12:50 PM to set up an appointment (Call length: 11 minutes), battery drops to 41%Call Customer Support at 1:30 PM to run remote battery diagnostic (Call length: 16 minutes), battery drops to 32%Apple Rep says the diagnostics looks normal...... Battery life: 30%Usage: 2 hours 26 minsStand by: 6 hours and 3 minutes This can't be right. not purchase LifeProof case iPhone 5

Less than two months ago, I purchased an iPhone 4S 16G, as well as a LifeProof case, which the dealer told me was superior to an Otterbox. It is touted to be waterproof, dirtproof, snow/iceproof, and shockproof. Up until today, I have been quite pleased with my case, though the screen protector does make it a bit harder to to tap the screen. Today, I had my phone in my pocket. When I bent over, it fell out and hit the ground from a height of two feet. It was completely in its case, and I had performed all the checks recommended before using the case. It fell on to carpet. When I picked it up, the case was undamaged, but the entire front of my phone was shattered. It look as though it had been hit by a bullet. The screen still worked, but it was covered with tiny shards of glass. The damage seemed focused around the ear speaker at the top of the phone. I have in the past dropped an ipod touch, sans case, face down onto tile, and the damage was about 4x less than the current damage on my phone. I immediately called Apple, who told me that the warranty did not apply to my situation (though this was not a surprise). I would have to replace my phone, refurbished for $150 or new for $200. I then called LifeProof, at which point I discovered that their warranty only covers the case. They will not refund your phone, though they offered to give me a new case. The person I spoke to told me that he used a LifeProof case, and that his screen had cracked several times while using it. He recommended going to an independent phone dealership who would repair my screen. In short, this overpriced case does almost nothing. To be fair, I have had no problems with the waterproof aspect of the case. However, it will not protect your phone from even the most minor drop that would normally not damage the phone at all. I have seen several accounts of LifeProof owners who put their phone in their pocket and pull it out cracked. This case is not worth $1, let alone $80. For emphasis, I have included some photos of what my phone looks like after the fall. Remember, this was only two feet and onto carpet while in the supposedly shock-proof case.             

Nike won't let me sync my workout data over wifi iPhone 4

I recently bought nike+ sensor and have just been for a run in it.  However it won't let me upload my workout data via wifi.  It comes up with a message saying:  Nike+ipod cannot sync workouts because nike+ service is unavailable.  I have tried and tried and again and it doesn't work.  I have googled it and there is not any answer to it so far. any help would be appreciated.thanks

iPhone 5 battery drain

I got an iPhone 5 on Friday and the battery *****. I've read every single forum, done everything, reset all settings, drained battery to 0 and then back up, even restarted to factory settings, turned off push, limited notifications, every thing every forum has told me to do. I even went to apple and they were no help at all, telling me my battery was normal. I don't think sleeping with 100% and waking up with 75% is normal, or getting 2 hours if limited use from my phone throughout the day. I have no idea what to do and I'm getting so tired of this. I did not pay 1000$ and wait 5 months for this. I really expected so much more. Someone help me, and give me a right answer, to help me fix this. Seriously getting so ******. wrongly told by provider phone was unlocked bought it now how I unlock it as vodaphone wont help but phone not registered as stolen or anythingplease help had it for month now and they just wont help me iPhone 4S

to cut a long story short. I was interested in an i-phone... got the details..checked them all.. on the phone and with the provider, VODAPHONE... told unlocked, not stolen etc etc. proceeded to buy the phone...new sim topped up £10 only to find it wouldn't work...  Went into vodaphone store..been running around following thier advice..(they said I need a friend who is a customer on vodaphone to get passed the unlocking with a vodaphone code.. and they would do it for free given the circumstances...so i run errands go back and forth doing as they asked...got nowhere) SO IT IS NOW A MONTH LATER..and after complaining and complaining to thier email site and repeatedly asking for help in store..I am stumped as what to do and just have a glorified ipod. I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO REMAIN ON THE VODAPHONE NETWORK given the situation they have put me in and thier unwillingness to help so i refuse to use the phone with vodaphone... BUT WHAT can i do PLEASEEEEEEE? all they keep on suggesting is that I get the original owners details but he is not answering anything...and the phone is not registered as stolen etc so what is the problem!? As you can imagine I am really peeved by the whole thing as I actually carried out all the necessary checks, and whilst the phone was not bought directly from vodaphone, I went to them as the provider, to find otu about unlocking etc as it is always advised to do so..and it was them that gave me the wrong information but they still will not resolve the issue. I have even sent them phone records to confirm when I rung and the name of the invalid who told me the phone was unlocked in the first place. I really would much appreciate any help as they are ignoring  my emails now.

What s wrong with my iphone

Ok so, since yesterday afternoon, while i was on my facebook, it suddenly popped out that there's a problem with the connection blah blah blah, but it was still connected to the wifi, so I just ignored it for a while, until i want to use it but i can't, coz every app that needs wifi was just loading & loading and it took forever but i wasn't updating to the latest post like that.. I opened my tumblr, twitter, instagram, imessage and facebook, but it's stuck on the same last post from yesterday. It really bothers me, I reset the network setting for a couple of times, and nothing happens.  If you're gonna ask what carrier i have, It's MTS but i don't have a sim. Yet i can still use it like an ipod.  the push notfication shows on my iphone, like when it's locked and someone message me on fb or retweet something on twitter. Then when i do open that notification, and the app will load then it'll stop.  I also updated it to the latest iOS (6.1.3) a month ago.  What do i need to do??? Need Help. 

iPhone 5 has wrong apple ID email address it my phone but has son s email address-now I cannot update anything

The apple ID associated with my iphone is showing up as my son's ID for his ipod Touch 5th gen.  When I look into the settings everything is set to my email address, but when I attempt to update it shows his email address and says I have the wrong password.  I did not have this issue until I updated the iOS system.  Can anyone help?

Facebook Home on iPhone and iPad

How can I get it across to Apple that the moment they let Facebook Home take over the home page on my iPhone or iPad I am gone forever and will never EVER buy an iPhone or ipod ever again? Facebook want to know far too much detail about my life as it is.  Why would I want them to be able to track my every movement and know who I am calling on my iPhone. This is an infingement on my/your privacy.  If news paper journalists can get done for hacking into yours or my phone, what will Facebook get?  And what will Apple get if they are found to be helping Facebook gather this information without the iPhone users consent??????

iPhone 4 audio behaving like has headphones always plugged in

Hello. I have an iPhone 4. Software version is 4.3.5. I currently have the sound button on. No headphones plugged. When push the sound button up or down, I have on scree the usual volume screen, however, it says ringer (headphones) instead of just ringer. I have no sounds coming from apps (notifications...) and no sound coming from locking (it is set on on the settings). I cannot listen to the ipod music without headphones (no sound comes out of speakers). I only have these sounds when I plug headphones and the sounds come via headphones. Also, if I have the ipod on, with headphones, the ipod does not turn off when I remove headphones. I already switched it off and tried forced reset. Any ideas to solve this, please? Thank you

My iphone 4s is dying at 30%. This is concerning me because my last iphone did this too. So I had got my iphone in August of 2012 and it started dying at 35% about a week ago on Tuesday. Then by Friday it was dying at 60%. I thought it was the software update so I took it to the Apple store and the tested it and said that nothing was wrong with the battery, like normal. So they gave me a new phone. Well, it hasn't even been a week and this phone is starting to do the same thing. I try not to charge it until it has gotten down far and is about to die so I would not have this problem. Yes, I have tried restoring and no, it does not work. I have also reset it. Is there a difference between charging the phone on a iHome docking station and a plug into a wall? Is there anything else I can do to not have my phone die at 30%? I don't think it is normal because I also have an ipod and iPad and none of them do that. Also, the last iPhone didn't do that until last week. Could there be a reason why it dies unexpectedly?

Suddenly can't sync songs from iTunes to iPhone other help topics suggestions not helping me

Everytime I try to sync any of my songs onto my iPhone 4, I get an error message that says: "Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "(song name)", were not copied to the iPhone "iPhone Name" because they could not be found." and then it stops syncing. It says there are 13 problems. Then when you expand to see the files, each one says: "(song name)"" was not copied to the iPhone "iPhone Name" because it could not be found." It can be any song, an old song from 7 years ago that I got off Limewire, or a song from a CD, or it can be a song I paid for from the iTunes store. Doesn't matter. Couple weeks ago, I had no problems. Purchased new songs and had them in playlists on my phone. Then a couple days ago, I plugged my iPhone into the computer (to charge it), and suddenly my songs were removed off the iPhone. So I tried to put them back on, kept getting this error. So I googled it. I have spent the past 4 days TRYING to get things to work. I have looked through all the other similar questions, and tried suggestions on there. Nothing is working. - There is no exclamation point beside any of my music.- I have not changed the hard drives (I don't use my computer daily, probably once a week), (Windows is up to date also).- I have tried re-adding the songs to the library.- Everything still plays in iTunes.- If I click on the file in its location, it will open it and play it in iTunes. - I tried deauthorizing my account then reauthorizing it, didnt work.- I have even removed all my music off my phone to see if that works, now I have 15 songs on it. I did find it odd that when I looked in my purchased playlist, they were not there, but they are on the computer and on the purchased list (under the iTunes store on the side menu). At least I can use my ipod for when I'm in the car, but now I have to carry that around too, I'm getting quite frustrated. Normally I'm quite computer savvy, but I'm totally stuck on this one. And like most people, I rely on my iPhone WAY to much and let the little things affect my daily life. I hope SOMEONE can please help me?!? (I don't know if it may even have to do with the fact that yesterday I finally got my iPhone updated to the latest IOS, (cuz I was finally able to download the update from iTunes... Unless that was a separate update) the one where it's like "do you want to cancel, download only, download and install").

Why EQ equalizer function in ipod settings in my iPhone 4 keep turning itself off

I'll notice my music sounds flat, too much treble, etc... go into ipod settings and sure enough the equalizer is set of OFF again.  I reset it to rock or bass boost or whatever.  And it then it might be another hour or 3 days later but it turns itself off again.  There doesnt seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason as to when it does this or why.  Annoying.   Any ideas? I have iPhone 4 running iOS 6.1

My iPhone 5 won't restore from backup

I just got the 5 today, and now I'm trying to restore from backup of my 4S. When it first popped up I clicked restore from back up of my previous iPhone, but it told me that the other phone (4S) software or firmware was too old for a backup and set up as a new iPhone and restore, but I had just updated about two weeks ago. That is the first problem. The second problem is when I went into the restore backup all it pulled up on the list was my ipod. I am confused. Can anyone help me? Additional info: I am as of right now updating the 5 to see if that was the problem, but I will comment back if this was the problem or not.

Flashover HD will not load onto iPhone 5

I bought this app for my iPad 2. It's compatible with my iPhone, ipod touch, etc. I just bought my iPhone 5 the other day and I cannot get this app to transfer into the phone from my iTunes. Any suggestions? I tried going into the app store and looked at purchases but there was no option for "not installed on this phone".
