Folks, I am getting confusing information from various sources.According to the service I am using for factory unlocking my Iphone 5, as soon as I unlock my phone I will be able to use it on all GSM networks, except the original ATT. This is contrary to all the previous unlocks I have ever done on any phone. What is the reason why my phone will no longer work on ATT, if true? Can APPLE or ATT help me get it back on ATT network once I no longer need to use it overseas? Thank you for your help.

to cut a long story short. I was interested in an i-phone... got the details..checked them all.. on the phone and with the provider, VODAPHONE... told unlocked, not stolen etc etc. proceeded to buy the phone...new sim topped up £10 only to find it wouldn't work...  Went into vodaphone store..been running around following thier advice..(they said I need a friend who is a customer on vodaphone to get passed the unlocking with a vodaphone code.. and they would do it for free given the circumstances...so i run errands go back and forth doing as they asked...got nowhere) SO IT IS NOW A MONTH LATER..and after complaining and complaining to thier email site and repeatedly asking for help in store..I am stumped as what to do and just have a glorified ipod. I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO REMAIN ON THE VODAPHONE NETWORK given the situation they have put me in and thier unwillingness to help so i refuse to use the phone with vodaphone... BUT WHAT can i do PLEASEEEEEEE? all they keep on suggesting is that I get the original owners details but he is not answering anything...and the phone is not registered as stolen etc so what is the problem!? As you can imagine I am really peeved by the whole thing as I actually carried out all the necessary checks, and whilst the phone was not bought directly from vodaphone, I went to them as the provider, to find otu about unlocking etc as it is always advised to do so..and it was them that gave me the wrong information but they still will not resolve the issue. I have even sent them phone records to confirm when I rung and the name of the invalid who told me the phone was unlocked in the first place. I really would much appreciate any help as they are ignoring  my emails now.

Question on unlock process for iPhone 4

Hello, I have completed my 2-year contract agreement with AT&T and received the instructions for unlocking my iPhone 4. My question: My iPhone is synced. Now I should do a full backup and restore of the iPhone via iTunes, but will this (1) keep all my current apps and (2) affect my current settings, specifically will I need to re-adjust all my individual notifications (alert style, badge app icon, sounds, view in lock screen)? This would be a tremendous chore for me as I currently have 176 applications on my mobile. I appreciate your help with the answer to this. Thank you  Regards, Chuck

How much time it take for Apple to unlock my iPhone 4s

If you got the confirmation message from the carrier that the unlock has been completed, follow the instructions in that email and restore the device.There is nothing to wait on Apple for. Let me be blunt, the carriers are full of manure and will use any excuse to blame others and try to avoid unlocking  your device. If you have not received confirmation from the carrier that the device has been unlocked, call them and find out what their timeframe is one completing the process.

Hi all. I want to unlock my iPhone 4 from Vodafone (I'm out of contract and the phone won't work with SIM cards from other carriers). It's a replacement/refurb as my original phone died. Iphone 4s not working after ios update 6.1.3

I have an iphone 4s boxed, brandnew and unopened for a year not until March 2013, for a couple of days i have used it, worked excellent but after i have unlocked it through at&t and updated it to IOS 6.1.3 it went to re-activation mode again. Tried several times to activate it but no succeess. I went to an apple store to discuss the problem of the update and consequently the result it brought to my iphone4s but denied a replacement because it was passed the warranty period. I was offered a replacement (for a fee) of $200 but i refused since i believe i havent enjoyed the iphone for years, has not even dropped, water-damaged nor scratched. The manager on duty (Mary, Fairview Mall, Ontario) insisted that my iphone 4s has a growing software problem already and i just dont know of... I reiterated to her that the unit was working as brandnew just like many of my apple products i have.  I havent called the apple support telephone support though. What should i do now? Please help guys. I cannot take it paying another $200 for an iphone that was practically brandnew and went useless after the update. I have a record of the at&t authorized unlocking request.  Should i escalate the appeal to where? Please help.. Thanks a lot guys.

Help - I have been notified that my iPhone 4 has been officially unlocked from T-mobile and was provided with instructions on how to complete, however, when I swap sims and connect to iTunes as instructed, I have a message saying that my sim is not compatible. Where have I gone wrong here? my new sim is Vodaphone.  Any help would be much appriciated.

My iPhone 4s not making noise except for when someone calls me an alarm going off or unlocking it.

I have no sound except for my ringtone, alarm, and sometimes the unlocking noise. No text alerts, email alerts, media noise, Pandora noise, iTunes noise, anything. First on my own I restored it to factory settings, cleaned the dock and head jack, did the head phone trick in and out, and I have checked for water damage. I have searched the threads and Google for solutions but none have worked. I talked to Apple today and they made me restore it again and it still doesn't work. ^Usually theres a volume bar on videos, none here. ^Theres no thing to slide the sound back and forth here. ^Also no sound bar here.

Apple staff bricked my phone iPhone 4

My wife went into the Chadstone (Victoria - Australia) shop today due to her iPhone's (4) touch screen playing up. The phone was still quite functionable, in regards to expectations of a smartphone but became frustrating when the touch screen stopped working. There was a workaround for this (locking the screen then unlocking the screen) but was not an ideal fix, considering we were paying for a fully functional phone.Prior to going in, last night I ensured that all here apps and iOS were up to date, to ensure there wasn't and easily fixed software problem causing the issue. She was served by a staff member, who after examined the phone advised that there didn't appear to be a hardware issue so she would need to take it out the back to get the software checked. This was all that was explained to my wife, so she let the staff member take the phone to be checked.My wife had no issue handing the phone over as about 8 to 10 months ago she experienced an issue with her original iPhone 4 and after a check (at the same store, again out the back) she was given a new phone a few minutes later due to the phone still being under warranty. My wife returned to the store about 30 minutes later after being told to wait 15 to 20 minutes, to verify what the problem was. Aft waiting 20 minutes she approached a staff member because no one had followed up with her regarding the phone. The staff member sought the initial staff member who had helped her and the staff member went out the back to check. The staff member returned and advised her that they had attempted to check the phone but for a reason (not explained) the phone and gone into panic mode and was unserviceable.My wife was offered a new phone for $150, as the warranty had expired or to come back another day to follow up on possible solutions. Having to pick up my son and due to not being that tech savvy, my wife opted to come back on a later day. After explaining the situation to me, I called the Chadstone store later that night to follow up on the situation due to the poor customer service.I was able to speak to the manager at the time, Joe, and after explaining the situation, I outlined my issues: 1. As my wife previously had a defective product, at no fault of her own, that was within warranty and it was replaced, why didn't the warranty begin again when she was given a new phone? Which later turned out to be defective as well. 2. Before handing over the phone, no attempt was made by the staff member to warn my wife that the phone was not covered by the original warranty, even though it was a replacement phone for a defective phone. 3. Before handing over the phone, no attempt was made by the staff member to to warn my wife that the phone could possibly be made unserviceable. If this was the case, I had pre- warned my wife that if there were any technical issues to contact me and I would advise her on what to do. 4. As the phone was functionable prior to the staff member taking responsibility for it and upon return was not functional AT ALL (read bricked), this was completely inappropriate. I explained that my wife relied on her phone for advice on our baby son. Joe acknowledged the issue but advised that they could not be accountable for the issue because if we were running old software and they had to restore it and run new software, then this was a possible outcome. I confirmed with Joe that the night before I had ensured I had updated all the apps and iOS, to ensure that these were not the causes of the issue. I also confirmed that my wife had not been advised of any possible issues prior to handing over the phone. If she had, she would have called me to confirm and I would have told her not too as it was not a serious issue.I advised Joe that this was not really appropriate customer service and I would jot be looking to pay $150 to resolve the issue and we were not at fault. Joe advised that he could not guarantee that we would not have to pay something but confirmed to come in and I confirmed he would be working the day I would be coming in. Surely based on the history of the issue, Apple are at fault here.

                               My wife and I are using an IPhone 4. I'm still using my Iphone here in Japan but my wife who already returned to our country cannot use her IPhone anymore because it is carrier locked here. I called our service provider Softbank and they told me " No Sir We can't help you.". I asked them why and they just told " We don't know Sir. "                                  I really like Apple gadgets and I still want to use it even after I returned to my country. But with this carrier locked here in Japan, how can I use my Iphone in my home town? Take a note that we own that IPhone, we paid and finished our contract with our provider. Don't we deserve to use our own Iphone with our desired carrier in our country?

Could not having latest iTunes version prevent my iPhone from unlocking

I am trying to unlock my iPhone 4 from AT&T. I got there permission to unlock and all they told me to do was restore the phone and it would be unlocked. I did this and it gave me the congratulations your iPhone is now unlocked page. But when I went back into my phones settings I noticed AT&T things still there and I was still locked out of my apn settings and such. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong but the only thing I thought it could be was my iTunes wasn't updated to the latest version. Could this be why my phone won't unlock?

Iphone 3gs front completely shattered

The other day I fell and while I was writing on the ground in pain I grabbed my phone to call someone for help and the screen was completely shattered and the case was snapped. I'm not totally sure if I just dropped the phone when I fell and then landed on it or what. But anyways, something must have happened on the inside of the phone too because it only lights up white. It still dings when I get texts and such, and when I can manange to drag my finger along the bottom of the screen without cutting myself, it makes the unlocking sound, but the screen is just white. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this and what my options are. Since the screen won't light up I'm thinking it will need to be replaced rather than repaired? I'm still under warranty but I know it doesn't cover accidental damage. Will I have any sympathy at the Apple store or on the phone with them? Perphaps because the 3gs can't be too expensive now can it? I literally got it for $.01 in March. Ugh I'm so lost! Hi. I contacted my network provider about unlocking my iPhone 4. I've now paid my network to unlock the phone. They told me they had to contact apple with the imei etc and I would have to wait for a response from apple and then wait to receive a code from apple.  Does anyone know how long this takes etc? Hi  I bought a factory unlocked 16GB iPhone 5 from USA. When I insert Airtel (india) nano sim, it says Sim not valid. I checked with an apple store, they say it's locked to AT&T. But it was supposed to be an unlocked phone (649$ + taxes).  Though before the activation, an update came - 6.0.2. I did that. My son has an iPhone 4 and I set up a password on it, so he doesn't use it for inappropriate usage. But, when he is home alone I sometimes have to call to check on him.
