S tray iphone

I stupidly removed my sim card from my iphone 3Gand and put the tray in backwards...now the tray is locked into place and the key will not unlock it...anyone have any idea what I should do?

I recently purchased a macbook and went to sync up my iphone. it updated the iphone to 2.2 but when it rebooted it asked me for a pass code. i dont remember ever setting a pass code, and if i did i just dont remember it. the help thing says link it to the original computer i set up the phone on.here is where the problem arises. the old computer burnt up the motherboard. that is why i bought this macbook. if you know how to unlock it without me linking it to the computer that no longer exists im all ears. thanks macbook

Request for Advice on ATT iphone 3g

Im in San Francisco, iphone 3g owner since the beginning (but new to AT&T). Ive swapped phones and sims, and spent countless hours on the phone with both AT&T and Apple. I have a fully functioning phone, and poorly functioning service.AT&T has confirmed that there are reception issues (due to frequency and over use) in my area of San Francisco, resulting in dropped calls, delayed voicemail and lack of 3g. AT&T has credited my account multiple times, but last month told me that they would allow me to cancel my contract and keep my phone...(or should I say iPod), but would not offer any further discounts on my contract.On a recent trip to Florida, the phone and service functioned perfectly. Full 3g reception 1.5 miles offshore, perfect reception in downtown Miami, not one dropped call the whole trip (except when I called a friend on his iphone here in SF and his phone dropped the call). The reception issue is documented by AT&T with vague promises that it will be fixed Q1 2009. As it stands, Im feeling pretty lost as far as how to proceed — Ive spent a lot of energy, time and money on this project and have a phone that functions very poorly in my home area. AT&Ts incapable of owning it, and Apple recommends that I use the phone as an iPod (or unlock it). This is completely ridiculous on the part of both AT&T and Apple. Dear Apple,I bought 2 iPhones (16GB) from AT&T store while activating new service with them. After about a month or so, I was so frustrated* (see all reason listed at the end) with AT&T service that I decided to cancel it and go back to T-mobile. Overall I paid over $1200 for the two iPhones (including tax, cancellation fees, first month usage fee etc.).Now when I was trying to go back to T-mobile, to my surprise the iphone wont work! I cannot believe that I just spent $1200 on 2 shiny paper weights (I cant even get past the activation stage because I did a firmware upgrade procedure on my iphone, iTunes wont sync because it complains that my t-mobile sim was not valid). I called AT&T first and asked them to unlock my phone. They were pretty hesitant to work with me since I had already canceled my account with them. But eventually the customer rep told me that they have no control over the iPhones sim lock and advised me to call Apple. questions about an unlocked ATT iphone 3g

Hi guys, my father bought an iphone from the US, locked to AT&T, he gave it to a friend here to unlock it, now the iphones unlocked by using the GEVEY-3g sim (its very thin and has a visible IC) which is put below the network sim in the sim holder of the iphone, now the thing worked once, but when i changed the sim and put mine it didnt, used the first sim that previously worked, still it didnt, does that additional sim work only once? is faulty? or should I just try again? also, what about the software, i dont know if its jail-broken but the guy added some applications and for some unkown reason, they used to work and suddenly they close once they open, some still work normally, I need to update to the new firmware anyway, can I do so? or will it get the phone locked again? does using that gevey 3g thing need any alteration with the software? new 2.2 firmware can blacken main menu iphone

This is odd. I upgraded the iphone to 2.2 and initially everything worked fine while the phone was still connected with USB to iTunes.Then when I finally disconnected (this was for sure not during a sync) I could not get the it operational again anymore.When tapping the menu button, the slider to unlock appeared, but as soon as I slid that, I could see the main menu for a fraction of a millisecond and it immedeately darkened and the device was unresponsive .. except fot the off-button which I could hear it work.Even totally switching off the device and restarting did not resolve the issue.Fist when I reconnected it over USB with iTunes, the main menu appeared again.Is this a 2.2 bug? Wrong Passcode after hitting Emergency Call on Keypad iphone

I noticed what I believe is a bug this weekend. Corporate security requires me to use a passcode to unlock my iphone 3g. I have found that if I accidentally hit Emergency Call on the keypad when entering my passcode, every subsequent attempt to enter my passcode tells me that Ive entered the wrong passcode. The only way to correct this is to power down and power back up. Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a fix? I cant imagine that this is by design. iphone 3g Windows XP Pro

HELP iphone randomly reset and now it wont detect S card 3g

Ok so heres what I was doing when this all happened.I had called the Linksys support for a new router I just bought that wasnt working right. After waiting about 8 mins I was connected to a gentlmen in India, we worked on my problem for about 10mins or so and then all of sudden my phone just reset, or at least went to the apple logo and just sat there.then after 30 seconds it started ringing (before it fully restarted) and it was the tech gentlemen call me back. So I slide the thing to answer and the screen froze with the slider on the right but not unlocked but I could see the time and my back ground, just no buttons and I could still hear him and talk to him.After we fix my problem with the router he hung up, but my phone was still froze and then it started ringing (a friend had tried to call me before it reset while I was on the phone so I assume it was him again). I couldnt answer and it just kept ringing and ringing so I held the wake button and slide the red slider to shut it off.Left it off for 30 seconds or so then press and held it again to turn it on. Now it says restore need, connect to itunes!ok, so I did and after wait about 30sec to a minute after connecting it to itunes it comes up with this error:iTunes cannot activate your iphone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required. Disconnect your iphone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tap unlock to enter it, and then reconnect your iphone.What the heck?! Ive had it randomly reset once before about a month and a half ago and which point I did have to restore, and it did and it worked fine after that.The SIM card IS in there, and I have no idea what my SIM PIN would be, nor do I see the option for it they speak of! And this happened about 9:30pm, well after any Apple or AT&T stores are closed! I even turned off the phone, took the SIM card out and put it back and it still did the same thing!What would cause this to randomly just mess-up like this? I loved this phone when I got it but now that this is the 2nd time this has happened and much worse Im pretty ticked about it. And its not like I hacked it or unlocked it or whatever that is even called, the only things Ive put on my iphone are music, pictures, and programs I all got thru itunes!PLEASE HELP! This morning, my phones decided it needs to be restored. However when I try to connect to iTunes I get this message :iTunes cannot activate your iPhones because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required. How long you get from your iphone battery 3g

I got an iphone 3g last Sunday from the Apple Store in Regent Street, London, and have been enjoying it a lot since then. My only real concern is the comparatively short battery life.I just wondered, of all the users on this forum, how long do you usually have between charges? At the moment, it looks like Ill need to charge it at least every other day to keep it going. I guess I have to get used to the fact that so many of its features are fairly power hungry, therefore it wont last as long between charges as my trusty old Nokia 6300, which I only ever used as a phone.Also, can anyone give me an idea of the most power-consuming functions of the iphone? I guess the Wi-fi is probably one of them, but Im not sure whether when its switched on its using up battery all the time, or once the phone goes into standby mode the wi-fi is offline until you unlock it again.Other than that, Ive been blown away by how many useful things it can do - not least being able to watch episodes of The Big Bang Theory on the tube to stave off boredom on my journey home from work!Any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received.james.Message was edited by: James Beard iPod nano 8Gb; iphone 3g; Macbook Core 2 Duo, 2Ghz Mac OS X (10.5.6)

On iphone 3g firmware 2.2 opens up to random screen 10 of time

Does anyone else see this? When swiping the screen saver to unlock, 90% of the time, the phone behaves as normal continuing on the last screen I left off at. However, about 10% of the time, it opens up to a randomly different app screen. Has anybody else seen this bug? Is there any fix for it? Hi all,I know there are some questions about this topic, but:I bought an iphone 3g in the UK with a contract of O2. Now I have to move back to Germany. O2 let me cancel the contract before its regular end by paying the whole contract at once. But the phone will be still locked to O2. Id like to know if Apple is able/willing to unlock the phone? The important point in my case is, that my phone has to be replaced by a new one, because of a faulty body. I already went to the Apple Store and they confirmed the replacement. Locked to VodafonePT iphone 3g becomes locked to emergency calls only

Hi there, I updated yesterday my wifes Iphone3G 16GB to firmware 2.2 and after the upgrade process the iphone just says No Service and shows a screen of the Usb + Itunes. My girlfriend didnt unlock the iphone at any time and neither have I. A was reading other posts and saw that the majority of locked iphones3g like this were unlocked. This is not the case. We have a lock to Vodafone Portugal so this shouldnt happen at all right? Ive speent the whole Saturday investigating on the web about the subject and my conclusion is that this kind of problem shouldnt happen to simple users that dont unlock, alter firmwares and stuff like that...I have a Iphone3G 8GB that I upgraded days ago and everything its fine. Popping sound when locking iphone 3g

Hi, I just got my iphone replaced by apple for the second time, Everything works fine except for when after I make a call or receive a call and I go to lock my phone, Instead of the normal lock sound I get this popping sound. When I wake my phone up and unlock it, there is no sound even when I lock it again. Only thing Ive found that helps is putting the headphones in and out and resetting the phone but when i go to make/receive a call then put the phone to sleep, the popping sound comes back. Is it a defect with the hardware? Since my previous two phones never did this, I dont wanna go back to apple asking for another phone. PC Windows Vista

iphone took picture of charging screen-else 3g

OK, so my iphone went to sleep this morning. I had just checked email and set it down. I picked it back up about 2 minutes later and the screen wouldnt come on when I pressed the Home button. I figured I may have turned it off. Turns out I didnt because I could neither turn it on or off. I decided to plug it in, just to see if that did anything. As soon as I connected it to the charger, I heard the camera shutter sound. I was then immediately able to unlock my screen and found that it took a picture of the charging screen. S Lock Not Working After Hard Reset Since 2.2 Update iphone 3g

Ever since Ive upgraded to version 2.2, my iphone 3g does not go into SIM Lock after a hard reset or even after turning off Airplane Mode. Hello, when I turned on my iphone 3g (2.2) this morning, it displayed Restore Needed message and said that it cannot make or receive calls. When I plugged in to my computer to do a restore with iTunes. iTunes told me to unlock the phone with my password since my iphone is protected. The issue is that I have no where to input this password on the iphone!! The only screen that iphone is showing is the Emergency Call keyboard. So I am stuck. Apple really screwing people with no international unlock iphone 3g

I currently live in the USA and would really like to buy the iphone. I have no problem signing an ATT contract and whatever, but I am going to Europe and Asia for 9 months next year and its very important to have the phone with me. Obviously I will be using prepaid sims wherever I go not to be charged $1+/minute overseas by ATT or get thousands in data bills, but its IMPOSSIBLE for me to get the phone because it will be locked. If I get the phone overseas then guess what? It will be locked when its time to come back home to the USA.Such a wonderful technological product and apple has to send us back to the stone age with this barbarism.Any possible workarounds? I am not interesting in any piggybacking SIMs (gevey, turbosim) because I need 100% reliability.

iphone backlight will not come on in dark room 3g

I purchased the iphone 3g a little over 2 weeks ago. Im having a problem with the backlight. Whenever I am in a room with very little or no light, the iphone will work fine until it locks itself or I lock it. At that point, I can bring up the lock screen and it looks fine (has backlight), but when i slide to unlock it the backlight goes off. Locking it again allows me to see a perfectly bright and viewable lock screen, but as soon as I unlock it we are back to a black screen. If i hold it up to a lightsource, I can see that the home screen is up but there is just no backlight at all (as if the proximity sensor is activated outside of a call). Now, as long as there is a decent amount of ambient light in the room, this does not happen. When the issue is occuring, turning on a lightsource in the room and then locking/unlocking resolves it. Note that this ONLY occurs when the auto-brightness feature is on. If I turn off auto-brightness, this problem never occurs It is as if the auto-brightness feature activites the proximity sensor when the ambient light sensor detects no light!At first I thought it might be from the Power Support Crystal Film I installed on the screen, but I have since removed it and the problem still happens. This keeps me from using the phone in bed unless the lamp is on, or using it in the car at night unless I turn on the overhead light every time I need to unlock it.Do I need to return this phone?

Unable to slide to answer iphone

This has already happened to me twice in 1 week. I get a call, when I slide the on-screen slider, it bounces right back to the original position before I have dragged the slider all the way to the right. It keeps doing that when the phones ringing making it frustrating. After sliding about 4 to 6 times, the phone finally unlocks to answer the call.Anyone else has similar issue? Why does my phone automatically lock after a phone call? As soon as I hang up my phone immediately locks the screen, no matter what I was doing before the phone call. Is this normal, if not is there a setting that I can change to make it not lock? Issue with Airplane Mode on legitimately unlocked iphone

Hi,I bought an iphone in Australia from a distributor for one of the large carriers. I bought the white 16Gb outright and paid the fee to have the phone unlocked (as is permitted in Australia). It all worked well with both an Aus and a UK SIM card I had.The white plastic back then cracked so I took it to an Apple store where they replaced it. I told the Genius that Id had it unlocked and he said no problems, etc, etc.He replaced the phone and I took it home, all seemed to work well. Again, with both SIMs.I installed the 2.2 firmware upgrade.Now to the troublesome bit.Sitting in Melbourne airport, about to leave Australia for some significant time, I swapped the SIMs over and the phone started complaining about needing to be connected to iTunes.I did this and it unlocked (again).Question 1: Do I really have to connect to iTunes every time I change the SIM?I replaced the SIM with my Aus one and turned the phone off to fly to Kuala Lumpur. On arrival in KL I swapped SIMs again, went through the hassle of connecting to iTunes to unlock.Then, as I wanted to use the phone on my net flight to watch movies and play Fuzzle, I turned on Airplane Mode with the UK SIM.The phone instantly complains about the SIM being changed and asks to be connected to iTunes. I did this (getting annoyed at this point)! This time, iTunes reports that the phone is fauly and I should take to an Apple Store!!!I then replaced the SIM with my Aus one, and it all started working nicely again including allowing me to use Airporne Mode.Question 2: Why cant I use Airplane Mode when my UK SIM is installed?This seems like a bug to me, rather than some complication with Airplane mode. 2.2 3g Phone goes blank after slide to unlock iphone

I just upgraded the software of my 3g iphone to 2.2. Since then I have had problems in dim light with the phone being dark after unlocking or ending a call. I have determined it has something to do with the auto-brightness feature. The new software in dim light make the displayim you cant see it. I have been able to hear the key click but not see it.I figured out it is the auto-brightness because it only happens in the evening after dark and I am outside or in car. Im a iphone 3g user. One night I plugged my iphone into it the charger and the screen went white and would not respond to anything. Ive tried restarting it, doesnt work. Well, I ran the update.. and apparently my unlock code is not working now.. I am unable to unlock my phone with my 6 digit passcode. My phone is tied into my corp exchange server, part of that is a security requirement for a 6 digit code. Recently my co-worker offered me his iphone.The problem is, I am not sure if it really is his iphone. I never saw him with it before, but he buys and sells iphone as a hobby all the time, so he could have gotten it from someone else legally.How can I check if the iphone was reported stolen, yes or no.Also, is it possible to unlock the iphone in a legal way. 2.2 update-Auto-Brightness not working correctly iphone

Anyone else notice since the 2.2 update that the Auto-Brightness doesnt respond as it did before the update. When I unlock the phone, and screen turns on, I notice the screen brightness is noticeably darker, and it takes several seconds for the sensor for the screen to read how bright the screen should be. Ive resorted to tuning Auto-Brightness off and leaving at a fixed amount. Moving to new country legally with iphone

I am currently in Japan and would like to buy an iphone. However they come locked to SoftBank carrier and in a year I will be moving to the U.S.A.. At the bottom of the page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 it says to call the designated carrier in specified country for authorized unlocking. However when I called ATT they told me that they would not be able to unlock the phone. I know that in Hong Kong they sell unlocked phones but I would rather not have to fly there just to purchase a phone to bring back to Japan. Does anyone know the truth? Are the iPhones able to legally be unlocked so not to void apples support. iMac, iBook, iphone Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I am thinking about getting an iphone, but I am in a non-secure environment (i.e. a school) and I was wondering what lock there is on the iphone? I know there is the Slide to unlock thing, but anyone over the age of 6 can accomplish that. Is there also a code that can be entered on the keypad to lock the phone that way there is the slide to unlock but also a password? Its time to allow phones to be unlocked at the discretion of the subsidizing carrier. Apple says (in this forum) it is the carrier that is in control and it is the carrier that will not allow it. The carrier (AT&T on their international help line) says they cant and dont know how because Apple wont allow it and wont provide the information. I suspect that one or both is ... misinforming.Ive been an ATT/Cingular customer for years. I participated in the line-circus for two phones. I paid the full amount for both because I was 2 months short of upgrade availability. I have a very sour feeling for both companies right now.Rationale:I spend much of my time overseas in Hong Kong and Singapore. These countries have excellent pay as you go SIM cards unlike the U.S. and a vibrant and high quality mobile phone market. Example. Walk in to PCCW in Hong Kong pay about $12 US and you get a SIM card capable of calls to 30 countries. You can walk outside the shop, plug it in your phone and sit down on the curb and talk to the US from Hong Kong for 6 and a half hours for that 12 bucks as well as all local calls and the other 29 countries. Other companies have similar offerings. Those countries have iphone authorized carriers. I tested pay as you go SIMS from BOTH of the authorized iphone 3g carriers in Hong Kong and Singapore and none work in my US iphone as expected. So they are not only locked out from non-Apple affiliated carriers but from all but the home (subsidizing) carrier.When I sit at the table with my business associates in those countries they are using iPhones and I can not without hundreds of dollars in data roaming charges and all of the benefits of this costly phone are nullified.Its dumb and it is destroying goodwill by the ton in those of us whove paid premium prices and played the game by the rules. AT&T has unlocked my previous phones like Razr for exactly this purpose with a single phone call. But not the iphone as described above.DUMB DUMB. Let me unlock the phone I paid for and use it overseas in the course of my work with a temporary SIM card. I am still under contract. I still use that plan when home in the US.
