I'm restoring my iphone 4S on iTunes 11.0 and it's stuck on restoring firmware

My phone won't send picture messages to any phone other than an iphone and when I googled it, the solution was to restore it.So I did. Downloading the software itself took nearly 3 hours, but whatever. My phone restarted, but now the bar is stuck at ~3/4 done and it's on "restoring firmware". It's been this way for over 20min. I use iTunes 11.0 and windows 7.Can anyone help me out? Would it be bad to reboot my computer at this stage?

iphone 4s stuck in recovery mode. Error code-1 .

I recently bought my iphone 4s from a guy (who bought it from someone else). He sold it to me pretty cheap because when he bought it, one of his friends tried to restore it for him and it got stuck in recovery mode. I have no idea if the phone has ever been "tampered with" or not. He didn't seem to know much about it (said it was his first smartphone) and I thought I might have a chance of fixing it. I'm starting to lose faith in that...I've tried almost everything I can find. I know there are tricks for this all over the internet and I've tried almost all of them. TinyUmbrella does nothing, Redsn0w won't even install on my computer (frustrating!). Trying to restore from iTunes is useless. It gets to about 90% then comes up with error code (-1) and gives up. I've tried that route probably 20 times with no change. I know I could take it into Apple and they could look at it, but I have no information on the phone itself. I cannot get the serial number. Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I'll try anything that doesn't require me taking it to Apple and getting charged more than I paid for the phone to fix it....I run windows 7. Thanks so much!

My iphone wont turn on after updating

My iphone 4G was updating to the latest i.OS software on itunes (on my windows computer). As usual, my phone had to restart. It turned off, but as it was turning on (when the screen just shows that silver apple logo) an error message came up on itunes saying that it couldnt update the software (I forgot to get the error number). But my phone is stuck with that silver apple logo on it. My computer tells me to restore my phone, which I tried, but everytime I do that, itunes says "extracting software" and then it says "preparing to restore" then it comes up with an error message (number 2009). I have tried restarting my computer. My phone is stuck like this. What should I do? Please help!

I just downloaded the Find my iphone app to my windows 7 PC.  Where did it go and how do I launch it to locate my iphone 4?  I see the file Find iphone 2.0.2.ipa in my Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications directory but nothing happens when I double click it.

Problems with syncing iphone 5

I have iphone 5 and try to sync it with my computer (windows 7 Max.). I have already installed ITunes and verified my computer in AppStore. But anyway I have problems with syncing applications. For example, I've downloaded Translator and tried to install it to iphone. I've clicked "Sync" in window "Programs", but it goes only up to the third step from four and fails. In window rights it is shown, that this program is already installed, but when I turn off my iphone from computer, I check and can see, that programs were not installed.My computer is also already verified, so that I can connect it with iphone. In common settings on iphone I have already turned on restrictions so that I can install applications. Could you tell me what should I do? I hope that someone had the same problem.

Hi everyone. Day before yesterday in the evening i was talking to my friend and once i finished my call, i hangup the call. Suddenly i realised my external speakers were not working. i havent backed up data for more than 5 weeks so i decided to update my iOS from 6.1.2. Then i connected my windows laptops with itunes 10.6 i tunes i tried updated my phone. now my iOS 6.1.4 but i cant fix that external speakers problem. It wasnt working still. Any suggestions friends ?????

I forgot and (apparently) didn't write down my password for encrypting my iphone backups in iTunes (on a windows 7 PC). Is there anyway to undo encryption or reset the password without erasing and resetting my iphone to factory defaults? Thanks for you help (hopefully).

iphone 5 barely charges doesn't sync

Hey all, I have an iphone 5, obviously less than a year old, and am having a really strange problem. Two days ago, I was able to charge my phone, sync it, everything like it was normal.  Yesterday, it decided it won't charge.  When the phone is dead, and I plug it in it has the normal charging screen and will get to 5% like usual.  But then, there is no charging battery, and my phone charges SUPER slow.  For example, yesterday I plugged in my phone at 3:50pm with 1%, and when I unplugged it (never used it while charging) it was 9:15pm and 34%.  Continuing to charge it from then has resulted it up to 50% now.  When it's plugged into my computer (windows 7 Professional), I get a notification that says the USB device has malfunctioned.  So I know from this and the very slight charging that it shouldn't be the cord, there is still communication between the two.   I haven't updated my phone to the latest settings (it's on 6.0.2) and I'm struggling to try to update it now.  I also don't want to Reset all Settings due to some of my photos and videos that I need to save and I don't want those deleted.   What do I do?  How do I go about fixing this situation?  It really shouldn't be a battery since it's a decently new phone.  It's been handled great and there is no damage to it and no drops.  Help!

My i-phone 4s has WIFI greyed out since installing iOS 6 i called APPLE australia and they told me i was 83 days out of warranty and i have to pay 250. this was on 24th of april man on phone then told me i might have to jailbreak

the man on the phone told me to jailbreak my iphone so i could get iOS 5 back.. but by jailbreaking a phone you lose the warranty anyway... considering this is apple's fault (iOS 6 has ruined my 4s capability to connect to wifi) ( and my girlfriend has as 4s on iOS 5 and that still connects fine ) i think they should be doing more i am a long time apple customer but i think this has made me want to swap back to being a windows user and maybe getting the samsung or HTC

Hi every body!  Recently i have noticed that when i want to connect my iphone 5 personal hotspot to my laptop, the moment i plug in the USB cable while the Hotspot is already running on my phone, immidiatly windows crashes. with a bluescreen error. I switched off the hotspot and then connect to my laptop nothing happens and every thing seems normal, but turning on the hotspot is a problem. every time i need to use my personal hotspot i have to reboot my laptop and while its rebooting i connect the USB cable in order to use my personal Hotspot while its ON on the phone. Please Help!

Incoming calls will show only number even though contact in address book iphone 5

We have an unlocked iphone 5, numbers were brought into the device from windows live. Incoming calls from international numbers will show only the incoming caller id, but not the name, even though they are in he address book. We tried to add the "+" to beginning of the number already.

windows 7 Laptop and iphone 4S

I have a laptop with windows 7 with current version of ITunes 11.0.2.26 and have the iphone 4S with the current iOS 6.1.3  Itunes is seeing my iphone, but the laptop is not seeing it properly.  Once the iphone is connected it will charge and connect to ITunes, but windows doesn't show the device as having the proper driver.  In "Hardware" setting of the laptop, the iphone doesn't show up so I can not make the iphone to show up in My Computer as a hard drive device.  My reason to get this to work is to remove the videos from my phone.  I have tried to use ICloud to transfer to other devices and download, but it won't accept videos just my computers.  I need assistance to get the iphone to show up as a hard drive, but as previously mentioned the problem lays with the laptop not having the proper driver.  I have done the following corrective measures: Uninstall and reinstalled ITunesI have held the powere and home button on the iphone while being connected to the laptop.I have looked into registry correction, but the incorrect text is not in the registry.   Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose these videos because non compatibility issues. If this is going to be on going occurrence I will have to give up using Apple products. Thank you.

How I sync iphone to new computer iphone 5

I purchased a new samsung laptop with windows 8.  I have an iphone 5 and Im trying to sync the two.  I deleted itunes from my old computer b/c my assistant was taking it over.  When I check anything in itunes it give me a message that itunes will over ride my iphone with what is on the computer, which is nothing.  I cannot figure out how to do this without deleting everything.  Please  help.  Thanks.

How can I restore my old photos after recovery if not backed up through itunes or icloud iphone 4

Here's the story. I dropped my phone in a swimming pool. It did not start at first. I layed the phone in a bag of uncooked rice and after 5 days it seemed like it was going to startup again. However something was wrong with teh battery so we ordered a new battery. The phone started up with the new battery but it wanted to go into that recovery mode. I did go through the backup procedure in iTunes and then recovery. The phone is now starting up fine but it is blank from apps and photos like a new phone. I did not have any photos backed up over iCloud before this happened. However shouldn't the photos still be on teh memory card of the phone? I thought the recovery process just resets the phone to factory standard, not deleting my photos. How can I get my old photos out of the phone? They are not in the DCIM when I log on through windows explorer as well.

Everytime I try to sync any of my songs onto my iphone 4, I get an error message that says: "Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "(song name)", were not copied to the iphone "iphone Name" because they could not be found." and then it stops syncing. It says there are 13 problems. Then when you expand to see the files, each one says: "(song name)"" was not copied to the iphone "iphone Name" because it could not be found." It can be any song, an old song from 7 years ago that I got off Limewire, or a song from a CD, or it can be a song I paid for from the iTunes store. Doesn't matter. Couple weeks ago, I had no problems. Purchased new songs and had them in playlists on my phone. Then a couple days ago, I plugged my iphone into the computer (to charge it), and suddenly my songs were removed off the iphone. So I tried to put them back on, kept getting this error. So I googled it. I have spent the past 4 days TRYING to get things to work. I have looked through all the other similar questions, and tried suggestions on there. Nothing is working. - There is no exclamation point beside any of my music.- I have not changed the hard drives (I don't use my computer daily, probably once a week), (windows is up to date also).- I have tried re-adding the songs to the library.- Everything still plays in iTunes.- If I click on the file in its location, it will open it and play it in iTunes. - I tried deauthorizing my account then reauthorizing it, didnt work.- I have even removed all my music off my phone to see if that works, now I have 15 songs on it. I did find it odd that when I looked in my purchased playlist, they were not there, but they are on the computer and on the purchased list (under the iTunes store on the side menu). At least I can use my iPod for when I'm in the car, but now I have to carry that around too, I'm getting quite frustrated. Normally I'm quite computer savvy, but I'm totally stuck on this one. And like most people, I rely on my iphone WAY to much and let the little things affect my daily life. I hope SOMEONE can please help me?!? (I don't know if it may even have to do with the fact that yesterday I finally got my iphone updated to the latest IOS, (cuz I was finally able to download the update from iTunes... Unless that was a separate update) the one where it's like "do you want to cancel, download only, download and install").

I have recently bought an iphone and I want to transfer all my music from my iTouch to my phone but most of my music came from an old computer that is gone now. Is there any way of doing this on windows, because I still have my iTouch and all the music on it but I can't get it into my iTunes library to get it onto my phone?

Dropped iphone 5 in water trying to restore now error 1603

On Wednesday night I was on the toilet playing on my phone. After I was done my phone slipped out of my hands and in to the toilet. I quickly grapped it out of the toilet before the toilet flushed it down and immediately started drying it off. Now I was a little bit drunk that night so I wasn't completely in my right mind. I started to elevate it and lay it on a towel. I also knew from before that rice would help with drying it off. Not knowing at the time it had to be uncooked, I cooked a bag of rice for about 8 min and drained as much water from the rice as possible and let my phone sit in it for about 10 min. Well then I learned it had to be uncooked. So I put the phone in uncooked rice after it sat in the cooked rice for about 5-10min. I let the phone sit in a bowl of uncooked rice for the whole night and the next day at about 12, I took it out and tried turning it on. It thankfully came on, but needed to be charged, so I charged it via the wall for about 15-20 min. After checking it I saw that the apple logo was being displayed so I let it stay like that for about a couple minutes. Seeing nothing else was happening I started pushing the power and home button down at the same time to restart it. That did not work either and soon I was getting the message to plug into iTunes, which I did. Once I plugged it into itunes I put it into recovery mode to restore. That was working just fine. It started to extract the software, verified the restore with Apple, and started to prepare it for restore. Well after 1-2 minutes of preparing i got an error message saying iTunes could not restore it because of error 1603. I looked up this error and it says something is wrong with my windows operating system. I disconnected all USB drives, closed everything down, and restarted my laptop. I tried restoring again and the same error message came up again. So I decided to let the phone sit in rice again for about 24hrs. Now I have tried to restore it about 6 times now and keep getting the same error message. I have also recently taken out the SIM card and tried restoring it but the same error message and the same point in the restore process. Anyone have any tips? I have looked into taking it to Apple, but my only option would be to buy a refurbished iphone. I wouldn't mind doing that, but I don't want to spend a lot. I originally purchased the 64gb white iphone 5 from Apple and am not sure if they charge more for the 64gb model.

Can't transfer photos from iphone to PC iphone 5

Hi,I'm trying to transfer some photos from my iphone 5 to my windows 7 PC; I haven't done this before. I've tried two methods of doing this, but neither seem to be working! method 1 - plug in iphone to pc. I get the autoplay come up. I click import photos. But I get a message saying something like 'no new photos found', so nothing happens. (remember, I haven't backed up my photos before, so all my photos should be 'new'!) method 2 - I plug the iphone into the pc. And i go to computer > view devices and i open 'apple iphone'. then there's a DCIM folder (which should contain the photos, I'm guessing, because that's how i view photos from my normal camera). But the DCIM folder is empty.  Could someone please help me out? I have done my best to search how to do this, but noone else seems to have had this problem but me! Thanks in advance.

Interested in Apple development Few Q's iphone 4S

Hello,  Apple user's, I am a 15yr old with a passion for computers & design. Anyways I am interested in developing for the iphone, as I'll be getting one in a few months. I've never really developed any type of games before, but am in a game design school magnet, and want to begin to learn how to program as I've been meaning to for a while now. I'm interested in developing for the iphone, and know I need a Mac, Objective-c knowledge as well as XCode knowledge, and a $99 Subscription to be able to sell and test my apps. So here's some questions I've been wanting to ask for awhile...1. Would you recommend a Mac-Mini ? I see i5 Mac mini's on craigslist going for around $400-$450, and know I could afford that. I switch between my mom/dad's house weekly, and have a windows based desktop that I built w/ monitor at each house, So I'm thinking i could just bring a small Mac-Mini back and forth with me, as they're pretty small.2. Could you guy's point me towards some nice Objective-C or XCode tutorials or books? I've just started spring break and want to take advantage of the time off.3. I'm only 15, so how would I go about selling apps, Ill probably have mostly free apps but would like to incorporate paid versions too, and I know i need to be 18 to sign a contract, would i just get my mom to sign the contract, and if she gets taxed extra I would just pay her the amount she was taxed ? (BTW, I'm in FL)4. How would I sell apps under a company name, I've heard of people trying to list apps and it saying they're real name instead of a company / made up name. There are obvious reasons I'd like to sell an app under a company name, no one wants to buy an app from a company named, for example "Steve". It pretty much set's your app up for failure. Would I have to register all kinds of legal crap just to make it say a developer name like, for example " FunTide Apps".5. If there's any advice you'd like to give to me or info that I didnt ask for PLEASE do, it's greatly appreciated.Thanks for reading, I know the questions are in abundance but I am really excited about starting to develop and have been wanting to do so for a while now !

Getting error-1 while restoring to iOS 6.1.2. iphone 5

I just want to make clear I did following, I follow all articles regarding error (-1) in apple support.Updated itunes, Turn off windows firewall, Paused my antivirus, Checked host file,itunes diagnostic test,LAN connections, andTried whole process in 2 different windows 7 pc. Restore process:Before I update to the new iOS 6.1.2, I tried using my wifi connection and it's pretty slow and not able to do it, so I downloaded iOS 6.1.2.After connect my iphone 5 to my pc, I put it on DFU mode by pressing home and power button together and it appears in recovery mode. I already downloaded iOS 6.1.2, so just holding Shift key and Browse iOS 6.1.2 start restoring my iphone 5. But at the very end it shows error (-1) and interrupt and my iphone again shows iTunes logo. Now I can't go out of DFU mode or update to the latest iOS. It's a brand new phone. It just showing itunes logo. Please help me to fix this issue.While I did the Network Connectivity Tests, I found:Secure link to iTunes Store failed. Summary:windows Firewall is off.Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.Connection attempt to browsing iTunes Store was successful.Connection attempt to purchasing from iTunes Store was successful.Connection attempt to iphone activation server was successful.Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.The network connection timed out.Connection attempt to Gracenote server was successful. I tried everything but those two error got never fixed.

iphone 5 not connecting to windows 7 laptop

Hi There,  I bought an iphone 5 back in September and am yet to be able to connect it to my windows 7 laptop.  When I plug it in, it doesn't even show as charging. iphone 5 wireless range

I have an Iphone5 and when I try to connect to a wireless network it gets much worse signal strength than I ever had with any other phone.  My other HTC windows phone gets 10 times better reception than this one.   It keeps connecting and disconnecting from the wireless network and if there is a wall or something on the way forget it, the signal drops and it never finds the network again.  I wonder if this problem is possibly related to the patch fix that was issued for Verizon customers or it is just a poor antena placement in the phone itself. Anyone having this problem?

Issues with possible 6.1.2 iphone 4

My iphone is recognized in both windows and itunes, but it will not back up or sync.  I updated to 6.1.2 earlier today, but when backup was about to occur it said error with no error message. when I do go to sync the phone or make changes to what will be synced to it, it says apply changes WITH the software that will be on it, but it will not let me sync the phone.  Nor willl it let me back it up for it requires to be synced to do so.    How can this be fixed without going into apple store?

Hi there I’m experiencing issues with my iphone 4 – it seems to be searching all the time and does not reflect my service provider I did some research and it seems that this is a software issueAfter a while my iphone brings up an error that says I need to restore, however my restore is never successful and this could be due to many issues In the process of doing a restore, 75% of the way on my phone and on iTunes it says "restoring iphone firmware" it freezes over there and "error -1" pops up on iTunes  I'm using Mac I also tried it on windows which doesn't work Kindly assist me

Update to 6.1.1 failed-stuck in recovery mode iphone 4S

I am a Vodafone customer in the UK with an iphone 4S.  I didn't actually see the warning from Vodafone saying not to update to 6.1.0 and so went ahead and did it.  I had no problems whatsoever, was working perfectly fine.  I then saw the release of 6.1.1 and the advice from Vodafone to do it.  I went ahead and did it Over The Air but it didn't complete.  I got the message on my phone saying to plug into iTunes.  iTunes said my phone was in recovery mode and I had to restore.  Tried to do it but got unknown error 36 and the restore failed.  Went through all the suggestions on the support website - tried different computers (windows and Mac OS), different USB cables, different network etc.  Contacted support in the UK and they called back.  Went through the whole thing again, tried the holding home and reset trick etc.  Still not luck.  In the end they put me through to support in the US who said they have the engineers looking at it. Has anyone else had this issue?  Error 36 can be a hardware error and I'm worried they will say there is a problem with my device and make me pay for servicing (out of warranty).  There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, it was definitely the upgrade to 6.1.1 that did it.  Without sounding selfish, I'm hoping it is a widespread issue so that they admit liability and fix/replace without cost or release 6.1.2. 

Leave update IOS 6.1 and Restore to IOS 6.0.1 iphone 5

Hi All, Last week i have updated my iphone 5 to IOS 6.1Just did the update by wifi and not with the USB cable plugged in. At first sight it looks allright. After a few days it looks, that my Battery life is shorter now! Yesterday i wanted to sync my photo's from the iphone 5 to my Imac.unfortunately this was not possible! No reaction at all between two devices, even with the USB connection cable there was no reaction! Only Itunes saw my iphone by Wifi, there was only one way to sync my photo's, from my imac to my iphone, just the opposit way. The same issues i had on a windows 7 prof laptop. At this moment, no fysic hardware connection is possible between any devices. So is there anyway to leave IOS 6.1 and get back to IOS 6.0.1 ?????is there any other way to get my hardware connection back (by USB cable) ??? Is there any information from Apple, when they fixed this BUG. At this moment, I regret this update! greetings René

I would really appreciate the help if anyone knows! I have a MSI notebook with windows XP and my main drive only has 32 GB of memory, about 4 GBs of memory were lost from my phone backing up but there is not enough memory to back it up. I'm currently left with about 1 GB of memory now.

iphone 5 only charges from one side unable to be detected by my computer

Hey guys. I'm in a bit of a problem here... I'm running on iOS 6.0, unable to update since my computer won't detect my phone. I've been my phone since release; it's worked well so far. Until a few weeks back, where when I tried to sync videos to my phone, it would just freeze iTunes up, and no video synced to my phone. Thought it was my phone and I didn't feel like updating at the time since I was busy and the video was only a short matter. Fastforward a few weeks and suddenly the phone would only charge using one side! I was confused since I haven't dropped the phone or done anything out of the ordinary to it for the past few weeks. I thought updating my iphone would fix that problem, but it seems that I cannot update my phone since it's not being detected by my computer. Or rather, it is, but it was labeled as an Unknown Device and the usb was malfunctioning apparently. I could not find my phone being listed as a device connected to my computer. Thus, I could not update my phone since it was not being detected by my computer or iTunes. I'm on windows 7 Ultimate x64.  Things I have tried:* Restarting my iphone* Hard Resetting my iphone (home + lock)* Reinstalling iTunes* Using another computer [ also says unknown device ]* Using another cable [ can only charge from one side as well ] Any help would be nice. My last resort would be going to the Geinus Bar since I don't have much time openings, but I'm sure I can squeeze one in somewhere... Thanks!

iphone 5 not connect to computer or itunes via USB

After recently upgrading to an iphone 5 I went to connect it to my pc via USB and nothing happens - it does not charge or register that there is a USB connection. I am using the current iOS 6.1 software on the iphone; have upgraded itunes to 11.0.1 and am using windows 7 on my pc. The same USB cable works to charge the phone through the mains. Can anyone advise please? Thank you

iphone 4s stuck in recovery mode during 6.1 update

My brothers iphone 4s got stuck in recovery mode when it was upgrading it to 6.1 I´ve tried to restore it with itunes and had no luck. Even tried to do so with DFU mode and it keeps telling me Error 36. I´ve done this on a PC with windows 7 x64, and on a Mac with Mountain Lion, both with the latest iTunes version and no security software blocking anything. I´ve checked hosts file and it´s clean. The iphone starts restoring (apple icon and the completition bar) and then it reboots and gets back to recovery mode. PS. I´m an advanced apple/windows/iphone user.

I am using windows 7. when I update my iphone 4s with manual downloaded iOS 6.1 firmware. iTunes shows an error 14. Please help

iphone 4S bricked after 6.1 update-iTunes errors 211611

Yesterday my iphone 4S asked me to install the iOS 6.1 update (via the Settings.app) "over the air". After downloading and preparing the update, the iphone rebooted itself to start the update process.Unfortunately, this is where it all went wrong. It seems like the iphone update failed somewhere along this process. It is now stuck in "Recovery Mode", with the picture showing me to connect the phone to iTunes. I have tried countless times restoring the phone via iTunes, on 4 different computers, and on windows 7 and OS X.Nothing works. The restore process fails during the "Preparing iphone" phase. Here's what happens every time:I can see the phone being restarted.The Apple logo shows up, and a little wheel in the bottom of the screen starts spinningAs soon as (usually even before) the progress bar shows up on the phone, the device suddenly shuts downThe iphone reboots right back into recovery mode, asking me to connect to iTunes I'm quite desperate at this point. I have followed all steps imaginable (including turning off windows firewall and antivirus software), but even then the restore still won't complete. iTunes always gives me the same error: 1611.When putting the phone into DFU manually, it gives me another error: 21.Both seem to point to third-party security software interfering with the restore process.However, having tried this on 4 different computers, I am 99% sure that this is not the issue. So far I've tried:HP Laptop - windows 7Asus Desktop - windows 72010 Macbook Pro 15" - OS X Mountain Lion + windows 8 (Bootcamp)2010 Macbook Pro 13" - OS X Mountain Lion Also, I should mention that in Belgium there aren't any official Apple Stores where I can book an appointment at a Genius Bar. Is this 4S doomed?

How can I change where itunes backs up my phone iphone 5

My c: is too small to handle the data, so I want to back it up to a 500G portable hard drive.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm running windows XP ThanksJeff
