On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iphone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iphone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour. About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iphone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode. Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button. I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iphone 4S when the next generation iphone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady
I have lost my built in apps and do not know how to reinstall them on my phone. The Safari and App Store icons are gone. I can no longer surf the net on my phone and the little "microphone" key has also disappeared when I send text messages etc. I now have to actually type the message instead of speaking into my phone. Siri has also vanished. Any advice?
I got a small amount of water in my iphone, at first i thought it was ok but after about half hour the water had spread through my screen, and it started going blotchy and cloudy. The touch screen still works, speakers, charger, camera etc. Only thing is phone wont turn off? I tried the rice for a few hours but didnt do much. Does the apple warrenty cover water damage if not how do i get this repaired?
Hello. The power button on my iphone 4s broke and now I can not turn it off since the button is stuck.and I would like to know if the repair costs is covered by the warranty or not, and if not, how much will it cost torepair the power button on it.
I have tried holding the 2 buttons to reset and nothing happens. The phone was on charge all night and only showed 1% battery so I turned it off and now it is non responsive. Please help!
i recently deleted text messages. I havent backed the i phone up since so im just wondering can i get these text messages back?
My phone won't power on. I tried holding down the power & home button for minutes at a time. Tried charging with multiple charges from multiple outlets and sources. The apple advice is telling me to upgrade the software on my phone. How am I supposed to do this if the phone won't turn on? Am I missing something here?
Hello, Which mode uses most battery when the phone is on standby and on a wifi network and has 2G (EDGE) coverage.. 2G+wifi or just wifi? I believe it is 2G+wifi because when you put your phone to sleep, it turns off wifi leaving push connected through 2G which consumes very low power. If I have only wifi enabled, the phone can't turn off wifi otherwise it'd lose the push connection. Thanks.
i turned on voice over and i know how you turn it off but it wont let me click on anything and the voice doesnt say anything when i click on anything and it wont let me use my iphone! i need help now! please!

When a call or text is coming throug there is no sound. The settings seem fine. When I switch the side button to red nothing happens. What used to happen would be the bell sign would come up with a line through it indicating the ringer was switched off but now nothing happens whichever way I switch it. Vibrate is switched on in settings but it isn't vibrating either. Interestingly the alarm is working so the sounds are not completely gone. I have powered it off an back on etc., but it hasn't made any difference. Any advice. Thanks Paula

I had to check the battery bar, i found that my iphone is depleted fast. I checked the LCI but it white. I tried anything:A. Charged for at least 15 minutesB. turn on and off the iphone.C. Restart the iphone.D. Plug it to the computer. But it failed. I will need to seek repair on repair shops? I don't attempt to repair this iphone. I'm scared about this iphone is not charging. There's 5 people and it was iMessage, and then it went to text? And half the people are iMessage and half are text, but now, only 1 is test and the rest are back to iMessage. But everyone's iMessage works in other conversations and group chats. How do I get it to go back?
Hello, I bought an iphone 5 from the Canadian Apple store a few months back. I have just got back to the UK and inserted my UK sim card. I'm on Giff Gaff (O2) I can still make and recieve calls and texts. But most of my apps aren't working. Nor are any of my browsers. iMessage still works over 3G so i dont understand why my apps and safari arent sending or redceiveing data. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance, Tom
I push the button on my new iphone but it will not turn off. Any suggestions?

Why it it that when I query a word or two in spotlight, I can see the text message that I am looking for but when I tap it, I am not taken to that message. This renders the search useless.
This is my issue. I have been using the messages app and spotlight to search keywords and/or phrases in old text messages. Scenario: Using the search bar in the messages app, I lookup Mac. It returns 2 results. I click the message I want to view and it opens the most recent message in thread. So I tried using Spotlight. Granted, it returns more results (about 6,7), but when I click the message to finish reading it, again, it opens the most recent message in the thread. Is there an app that actually searches messages and lets you view the message?
So I just upgraded my iphone 4 to an iphone 5 literally yesterday. Strange lil bugs I get, but... This is just freaking me out. The phone had NO charge whatsoever when I opened it yesterday and tried to turn it on. Usually I get an iphone and its at almost full charge. Then the Brightness was already dimmed to almost nothing rather than being in the middle. I adjust the slider to light it up more and then hit the switch for Auto-Adjust Brightness... Nothing changed. At all. There's no brightness difference whether I have Auto-Adjust set to On or Off, and it's kinda hurting my eyes. Pleeeease tell me I didn't get sold a Refurbished iphone 5 as a New one at the Apple Store?!
When i get a phone call the ringer doesn't work and I a missing all my incoming calls. Help what should I do.Thank You

My iphone 5 battery drains a lot. after 42 minutes of usage, and 5 hours of standby it drops to 89%. I'm just wondering if thats normal. I was wondering, if theres a way I can completely restore my iphone. Like restore nothing back onto it, only my text messages and imessages cause those are really important.
Having issues with iOS 6.1.4 heating up (in standby) and high battery consumption in standby. It's not consistant but I will, sporatically, notice my phone warming up, in my pocket, to pull it out, turn the screen on and then off again and it'll cool down.Battery consumption is also very high (worse than iOS 6.1 update issue) and is drained quickly. I've closed all active applications (but mail and calendar as I need for work) and still will occur.
I dropped my phone with an otterbox defender case on the phone on its back, directly following the fall (maybe 3ft) the screen remains black, however, the phone is still on because I get text messages and emails. I believe that the digitizer may have been dislodged from the logic board. Should I investigate the phone myself or take it in, mind you the nearest apple store (grrr) is almost 60 miles away.
My iphone 5 recently started having problems with the ringer. The ringer will be turned all the way up, the mute button is NOT being used and the phone will not ring for calls or alert for texts. It is not always happening, but more so than not. I have tried rebooting the phone, the OIS is up to date and I do not have the "Do Not Disturb" set. I can be in the same spot with LTE and full signal have a call/text that is missed then receive a call/text and it rings. Does not seem to matter if the call is coming from a land line, same Verizon carrier cell or different carrier cell there is no noticable reason. Any ideas???
OS - 6.1.3After it turns off it gets put into " recovery mode". and even if i do the "restart", i have to do it several times before the phone actually turns on. phone is 1 year and 5 mos old. already tried to restore it but it just keeps on shutting down. can anybody help?
My iphone 4G was updating to the latest i.OS software on itunes (on my windows computer). As usual, my phone had to restart. It turned off, but as it was turning on (when the screen just shows that silver apple logo) an error message came up on itunes saying that it couldnt update the software (I forgot to get the error number). But my phone is stuck with that silver apple logo on it. My computer tells me to restore my phone, which I tried, but everytime I do that, itunes says "extracting software" and then it says "preparing to restore" then it comes up with an error message (number 2009). I have tried restarting my computer. My phone is stuck like this. What should I do? Please help!
Does anyone have audio fail problem on their iphone 5 (iOS 6.1.4)? This happeded twice on my iphone. First time was when I was using my phone as usual and it just suddently truned into mute by itself. The other one was when the alarm was ringing but no sound just vibration. I'm sure that I did not turn into silent mode. Except the sound, it still functions well. System just poped up a message asking me to reboot my device. It recovered after restart, but I still want to know how to deal with this problem.
My iphone is a joke, was getting 8 hours battery life, now im gettin only 3-4 have restored phone, deleted all apps etc nothing works, also when i try to turn off phone it just automatically restarts. (ios 6.1.4 installed)
Hi Ive had iphone 5 since it came out, and recently this year, its been turning itself off with plenty of battery life and wont allow me to turn it back on until I have plugged it into wall charger to 'charge' it back up. When its plugged in, it returns to the battery level it was originaly at....30%, 50% for example. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Im going to do a iCloud and computer back up and restore firmware see if that helps?Chris
I recently had a software update (6.1.4) on my iphone 5. I ran the update last week and everything seemed fine. However, as of yesterday my phone no longer made sound, it just stopped making sounds to everything. It makes no sound when it rings, when I receive a text/email or when I try to listen to music. The sound is completely dead. The little switch on the left of the phone is turned on for volume. I did a reset and nothing seems to help. Has anyone encountered this problem? Does anyone have a solution?
Hi All, Need Help / Clarification. One my friend has above 100US$ balance in App Store, but from yesterday he gets message "not sufficient balance available" whenever he tries to buy an app (especially game World War)
Lately I've been turning off my phone and when I turn it back on battery is drained. Yesterday I turned it off at 80% and when I turned it back on 3 hours later it was at 62%. Then today I turned it off at 50% and when I turned it back on it was at 32%! Does anyone know why my iphone is losing battery even when it's completely powered off? I feel like it shouldn't be losing any battery at all
I am just asking because I want to recover my pictures that were saved on this phone
how do i get it replaced or can i still fix it?
There seems to be a lot of people out there dropping their iphone in the bath so I thought I would share my experience of fixing mine.Firstly if its in warranty consult your dealer - if this doesn't help try the following: A lot of people say stick it in bags of rice / silicon, etc but here is a quicker, more reliable way which is far less likely to contaminate one of the connectors. You do not need any special equipment. Make sure phone is off (If you can still see the screen) - hold sleep and Home for 5 seconds and tap the red off button that appearsPop your oven on a low heat ( less than 100C) for 5 minutes.Wrap your phone inside a sock, doubled over a couple of times so the phone is well protected.turn oven offPop phone into oven for 30 minutes or longer preferably You could use a hairdryer but be very careful to keep it moving to avoid any localised heat spots that could damage components. If the phone got really soaked you might want to jump down to taking the phone apart - if it is still full of water powering up or charging could result in further damage Let the phone cool and try to power up, if nothing happens check for any signs of water vapour still in the phone and repeat if present. Otherwise try charging and powering up Still no success? this step requires a very small crosshead (some need a 5star) screwdriver, don't compromise and try and use a larger one, damaged screws will cause you even more expense. Very cheap on ebay. Unscrew the 2 small screws at the bottom next to the speaker, slide the back up and lift away. Unscrew the very small screw holding the battery connector in place and pry up the connector (lift the side nearest the edge first). Be careful not to lose the screw or the small metal bracket under the connector. Use the plastic tab sticking up half way along the battery to ease the battery out (usual there is a small amount of glue on them). This will reset the phone (you will not lose anything but the phone will hopeful power up when the battery is replaced). This is a good time to try the drying procedure again to ensure there is no more moisture present. Reconnect the battery screw everything back in place and press the wake button. If this has not succeeded you may need specialist help to test more components.Good luck ( and I cannot stress enough - keep the temperature low when drying)
My iphone 4S will only vibrate with incoming calls and texts! I tried resetting the phone, using the side volume panel, and changing the swipe bar in sound settings, but none of those seem to work. Any advice?
My iphone was last used yesterday, it ran out of battery. when i tried to turn it on today it displayed an iphone USB plug and itunes logo indicating to plug in and log on to itunes which i have done but itunes says it cannot be restored due to error 21Can anyone help me please???

I work my self by an Apple Reseller and no one of my collegas can help me out!*the problem is not coming from my Contacts Book or Settings because everything is perfectly configured and this error is recent !Thanks. I have had problem with my iphone 5. It have been switching off with out any notice. Today we could not turn it on again. We only got the apple sign. after awhile we got an error message and the screen turned red, all red! What should we do?
I followed all of the steps from AT&T and from apple, and have restored my iphone to its original settings, but I am stil seeing a grayed out wifi screen and am unabe to turn on my wifi. Please hep!
Hi, I have an iphone 5. Sometimes I use the MobileVOIP app for Voip calls. after the 6.1.4 update the application does not send the audio to the speaker (both call speaker and external speaker). It seems that the application recognize the earphones also without plugging them or it is not able to reach the internal speaker. The application works good with earphones. Also trying with Skype, they don't work. Since the update focused on audio-problems, are there settings to solve this problem? Do any of you have the same problem? Thank You Roberto
I dropped my phone on the ground and the screen broke but now the screen is black all the time but i still get the buzzes from alerts or notifications, texts, and even phone calls. what do I do?
Last night my iphone 5 went black and won't respond to anything. I can still hear soundlike siri and when a text comes through but I can't see anything. I have tried to restart it by pressing the home button and power button but that hasn't worked and I've tried to restore it on iTunes but that hasn't done anything, can anyone help?
I recently purchased an iphone 5 (Monday, May 6th) and am convinced that the battery is defective. I attempted to get the phone replaced by AT&T since it is within their 14-day Return/Exchange policy, but of course they denied me based on it being a "technical" issue and therefore a problem I need to take up with Apple. Whatever that means. Background info: Left the house around 10:00 AM, battery fully charged at 100%Finished class at 12:00 PM, battery dropped to 53% (VERY minimal use, I was sitting through a lecture)Arrived at AT&T store at 12:15 PM, battery at 51%AT&T Rep turns off LTE, Wireless, Location Services, Bluetooth and Auto BrightnessThe only apps that were opened/used were text, Mail (fetch set to Manual) and SafariAT&T Rep says there's nothing he can do, but these changes should "help"Left AT&T 12:25 PM, hopped on bus, got home at 12:45 PM, battery drops to 43% (ZERO use)Call nearby Apple store at 12:50 PM to set up an appointment (Call length: 11 minutes), battery drops to 41%Call Customer Support at 1:30 PM to run remote battery diagnostic (Call length: 16 minutes), battery drops to 32%Apple Rep says the diagnostics looks normal...... Battery life: 30%Usage: 2 hours 26 minsStand by: 6 hours and 3 minutes This can't be right. Is anyone experiencing similar issues with their battery? Does the usage information above look normal? Any suggestions and/or tips on what I can do? I'm so upset with both Apple & AT&T right now. The AT&T rep even suggested that I "turn off cellular data" to save the battery life. REALLY? I feel like I basically just purchased an iPod touch for $240!
It's annoying as every time I want to make urgent calls need to wait for a long time before I can use it again
Right, my problem is that my iphone is turned on BUT the screen is blank. How can I get this to turn off or reset and respond to my iTunes. I've tried the manual reset by pressing the the sleep/on/off button with the home button at the same time and I get nothing. I've even tried plugging it into my laptop to respond with iTunes but that doesn't work either. It will connect to a wall charger with the same wire as that I'm using to connect to the computer. I need as much help as needed.
