Pls have this to pay attention for. If this is a hardware problem, what must be done to repair it? If that's a bug, when shall A.guys have a fix for that.BTW, may that be a problem actually linked to Bluetooth connectivity in the first turn? Bluetooth connectivity option is constantly "trying to determine it's state" (BT option setting shows "busy" running circle instead of on/off state), and after it finally gets to off state there appears to happen some change to wifi option behavior. Once it had even started back for an hour, but fell back to disabled soon afterwards. At least both these problems appeared together at the same time. All possible resets, firmware restores and 6.0.1 did not fix that. Shall I need to jailbreak the OS to fix it? And btw, the whole situation already ran a lot of people into high spendings for their 2g/3G overwhelming cellular data traffic. Apple to apologize for that at least? Or shall there be iPhone 6 and the problem would remain unfixed and unnoticed?
Meg St._Clair wrote:Google refused to provide spoken turn-by-turn directions on iPhones at all until Apple kicked their app out of the operating system. Really? So, it's not Apple to initiate the move. If that's the case, Apple should develop its own Apple Indoor Navigator and Apple 3D glassware. b.t.w. Since Apple Maps launched, I found that the recent tomtom updates on GPS have navigation mistakes that didn't exist in the last 3 years. Find my iPhone and Find my Mac are deteriated on the details.
Hi, i have a problem with my iphone 4.I bought it with a 3's contract (italian operator) but for many problems i didn't pay the bill of the phone traffic however i still pay the phone. My operator put the iphone on the blacklist. How can i unlock the phone? thanks

Thanks
So, when I was stuck in New York city for five days last week, I wound up using the new IOS maps app for the first time, on my iphone 4. It worked fine for a day or two... then, for some reason, it stopped loading maps. It would show a blue dot where I'm at, and little traffic warnings would appear, but no streets, no nothing. If I tell it to load satellite views, that works fine, but regualr maps doesn't. Now that I'm finally back home in LA, it's still doing the same thing. I've manually closed the app, and done a hard reboot on the phone, and it still does the same thing. Seriously, having a map app that stops working when you're stranded in a strange city with a hurricane barrelling down on you and you're trying to walk from your power-out old hotel to a new one was no fun...
When I open the maps app, all I get is a blank yellow background.. Everything else seems to be working (ie. traffic data, directions). All of which aren't very useful without the actual roads! If I zoom out far enough, I see faint outlines of countries... This problem extends to other apps that use map data too. In this example, Nike+ running I've tried killing and restarting the app, rebooting my phone and resetting all my settings but nothing has helped. Anyone had a similar problem or got any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks
Since switching to apple maps from google maps no traffic colors show on map
I've noticed that the "arrow" for Location Services is on while I'm driving (or in the car so to speak), even when I have no apps open. By looking in Location Services and System Services, I can see that traffic was the culprit. Here's what I have on in Location Services:-- Find My iphone-- Maps In System Services (at the bottom of Location Services):-- traffic Anyone else notice this? It's not running when I'm at home or at work. I assume Apple can tell you are moving (GPS, Cell Towers) and then queries the phone to see how fast you are moving. Personally, I don't like that. I know that "traffic" is required for you to use "Apple Maps", but why? Don't you get your data from Tom Tom and others? If I don't have Maps open (thus no need for traffic info), why should it be running? Why do you need to use my data and battery for this? And, it doesn't appear that you even use the data from us. Yes, I know I can turn it off, but that renders Maps even more useless than it is. (And god, Apple, your color scheme is terrible. Yellow highway....then overlay dotted red and orange???? So hard to see and barely gives you any data at all)Where's Green? That would be helpful. What is Google going to sue you if you use Green? And Maps, while being "pretty", *****. I want to use it...but man you are making it difficult. And Apple, please approve the Google Map App. We all know it is there, waiting for you to approve. Do it. AJiphone 4siOS6
Having problem with internet connectivity on WIFI - anything that depends on DNS for data whether it is a web browser or an app while using WIFI. I call this problem "WIFI Lockout". This happens on iphone 4, ipad 2 and ipad 3 that has been updated to iOS 6. I am not talking about the issue of the missing apple page (day 1) or the inability to turn on/configure WIFI after updating to iOS 6. This is what i have discovered so far. You could be in the middle of surfing or using any app that makes data calls based on DNS (when you type google.com that is translated in the background so your device knows where to go - summary only) and suddenly you can go no where or do nothing! Sometimes conectivity goes trouble free for long periods, other times it is repetitive "WIFI Lockout". Yea sure, you can restart the WIFI connection, but WHO wants to CONTINUALLY do that? Interestingly enought the device is still successfully connected to the internet via WIFI, but DNS request fail to pass successfully from the iOS 6 device. Apple (or any curious iOS 6 user that wants to see my point), when this happens "WIFI Lockout" open up a browser before you reset the WIFI connection and type type 74.125.227.144 (google) and then “go” (I tried both safari and chrome). A google search page will come up and you will be able to execute a search (of course any link you click on will not work as it is dependant on DNS resolution). The above IP connection to google proves NON DNS traffic works, so the issue is not the WIFI connection to the access point that is the problem. It is not an access point configuration/firmware or security protocol issue either because data does pass when the above steps are followed. I KNOW THIS IS NOT ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH iOS 6, BUT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM NOT BEING ABLE TO SURF OR GET DATA THE iOS 6 DEVICE IS REQUESTING WHILE ON WIFI.
Why is the map application failing to show any traffic at all? I've tried it both in search mode and in navigation mode--nothing.
I have iphone 4 and i made mistake to upgrade to ios 6. the maps are from 80's I want back ios 5 system I need maps google... it works and actually give clear direction and traffic information! unless apple will fix this issue i will move to samsung galaxy and android system... I never thought i would be willing to leave apple products... with apple maps I'm willing do this! Does Apple even care it customers? Perhaps when millions of us are willing leave apple products perhaps they realise that apple maps might work 10 yrs from now as they are now... I don't understand how you can put this low level maps out? dont you have no shame? Apple was leader.....as was nokia....looks like downturn has started... get back to basic providing the best possible applications to your customer and currently google maps is the best! pride goes before the fall....
My iPhone 4 randomly shuts down (even during a call). It seems to happen more when charging. It always shuts down when charging on a griffin charger but never on my tomtom car kit.
The recent update for the tomtom app won't update on my iPhone 4. It says there isn't enough local storage. I asked tomtom how big the update is, and they said 1.32 GB. My Available Capacity is listed (in Settings, General, About) as 2.5 GB. Is there some kind of buffer, where the iPhone won't allow me to use the complete available capacity? If so, how big is it? I've already deleted unnecessary apps, songs/videos, and photos. I'd like to know how much space I need so I don't have to delete more than absolutely necessary. If that isn't the problem, then what is? I can still download updates for other apps; I even downloaded a new app. I've done several soft resets. I don't know what else to do. I really want that tomtom update, as I use that app all the time, but I want my other apps, too! Thanks in advance!
My iPhone 4 is totally opdated and yet tomtom Europe is crashing when launching the app. I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it and nothing helps. What can I do?
Hello, I live in the UK and have just installed the ios 6 beta. Its great apart from, Siri is still claiming that he can only looks for maps, traffic and business in the united states!!! Just looking if there is an app that shows the most up to date traffic conditions. A few that I have looked at and played with show traffic for highways and freeways but not much for local streets. I'm looking for one that has street updates. Any ideas ?Thanks
Hi, I just switched over from an Android phone and while I love my iPhone, the one thing I already miss is Google map navigation. The feature I most loved was real time GPS directions based on current traffic conditions. It allowed me to figure out at any point, which route was the fasted based on the latest traffic. I've noticed this feature doesn't exist. Is there a reliable app that does this on the 4s or is there plans to develop something similar? Thanks
I have tomtom UK running on my iPhone 4 which itself is running iOS 5.1.1. I have been having problems with the tomtom App keeping its signal locked in all weather conditons and even thinking I am on tottally different roads even when it was has a signal to start with. I then get the Poor GPS signal and can pretty much drive to work in 45 mins somedays without any signal lock and navigation. I know my route but use its HD traffic service to miss delays etc. I've deleted the software from the iPhone and redownloaded it and this hasn't solved the problem at all. Any one got any ideas? Thanks
I would think there are tons n tons of ppl using iPhone in india and pakistan.. and with the removal of google maps and moving to tomtom.. we will surely loose our maps functionality.. since from the website it looks like there is no coverage in either of those countries.. ..anybody going to complain..? please please do..! i think here..? http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html thanxIGA
I keep getting errors when trying to use the app store. The message says "cannot connect to app store", or if it finally does connect, the download won't start and I get a message saying "the app will be available later when you connect to itunes via your computer". (paraphrasing of course, but you get the idea)The only thing I've found that helps, is toggling airplane mode. That helps for a short time, but then the problem just comes back. Anyone run into this, and if so, is there a fix? Is the store just being flooded with traffic maybe?
Dear Sirs, After I have upgraded version of my Iphone 4, and passed through all steps of activation via I tunes (installed on Mac Air) I can't finalize activation. My Iphone 4s is not charging with the in car charger, not very convenient as the tomtom App drains the battery after 150 miles, are some chargers better than others or is the charging issue a common one does anyone know?
i have a customer who has a iphone and needs to update to ios 5.1 for a corporate app to work. he does not have personnal machine at home to install itunes on, and the company will not allow itunes to be installed on any of their systems (you cant even run the installer as its blocked).i have my own machine that i connect to their guest wifi but when i try to download the ios 5.1 update, it says 36 hours remaining (i think they are blocking the traffic).is there a way to download the firmware while i have my machine at home and then install when i am back with the user (i only see the user for about 1 hour a week) thanks in advance for your help.
HI gang,I am considering buying The tomtom Europe app for my iphone but have been told that it does not contain maps for Greece. I am planning a car trip from UK to Greece in the near future and need an app that covers the entire trip and can plan out the best routes. I know there is a seperate tomtom Greece app but that does not cover the rest of Europe so I am kind of stumped. Anyone know why the 'Europe' map does not have this 'European' country and if there is a way that possibly the missing country/s can be installed into the map. Funny thing is I just contacted tomtom to ask about this and they said that their maps include Greece so i should speak to Apple regarding the iphone version of this app.....
I am looking to purchase the UK tomtom app, but would also like to purchase the USA maps for a 2 week trip. Can additional maps be purchased or do you have to purchase the app?
Okay, i know this has been asked a lot but nothing has solved my problem. My friend use his account on my iPhone and downloaded a few apps for me. but since a lot of apps update a lot, i got annoyed having to bug my friend to do it for me. So i download/purchased the app on MY own account. But every time an update shows up, it still show his. My iTunes shows that its my account. I have already...Signed off --> sign back inSigned off --> forced restart --> sign back indelete app --> redownload Im out of ideas and i cant find anything. Its just annoying having to delete app and reinstall it, i completely beat a game, waiting for the next update for more levels, and since i removed and deleted, it deleted all of it, had to start over... Also dont want to be downloading tomtom(1.7GB) every time a new update comes... anyone can hep me?

In the last 20 days I found a really excessive data traffic. Also closing all the applications, data traffic (outgoing and incoming) is about 20 MB in 5 minutes. I have the Iphone 4 since december 2010 and I NEVER found this "data traffic". I use every day WhatsUp, Facebook and Safari, but I think that now there is a problem.Please...help me!
I was told it is because of the lack of Bluetooth DUN?? Does anyone know when this will be corrected or a way to get around it without jailbreaking my phone?
If I were to say, "Siri, call 911 and report a traffic accident at this current location" , does anyone know what it would do. I'm not sure how to test it, but it could come in handy in an emergency.
I have two issues with my iPhone since upgrading to iOS 5. 1. The stereo in my Renault Megane Sport Tourer also has Carminat tomtom built in. When streaming music via BT through the stereo, following a Navigation Interuption by the Sat Nav, there is a 10 second delay before the music begins to play again. Priot to iOS 5, the music continued almost instantaniously. 2. It is not possible to browse the music library on my phone via the car stereo controls. It seems to think that the track information is not available (i,e, the ID3 Tags do not seem to be present when connected by BT). Is anybody else having these problems with iOS 5?
Hi, I have the tomtom car kit for 3GS and have just upgraded to iPhone 4S. I have one of the iPhone 4 adaptors from tomtom for the car kit, but even with this on, and trying some of the other suggestions online about a strip of velcro, I cannot get the cradle and the iPhone 4S to work together. Has anyone with a 4S managed to use it with the car kit? Thanks,Graz.

Hi all, first of all thank you to all the community of iphoneitalia.com forums. Thanks to the contribution of many users yesterday night the solution finally came out.Let us go to the main subject.1. How to identify if you have the issue:-disable any push in your device: notifications, mail, find my phone, whatever might create any data traffic related to push activity. Disable gamecenter, ping, facetime in system restrictions. Then close any app in the background. In such conditions you should not have cell data consumption (=0 kb consistent along hours if you do not touch the phone)Symptoms of illness: cell data usage goes up even if the phone is in stand by; usage time goes up even if you are not using the phone; battery consumption looks ugly comparing to previous iOS.How to certify your feelings:-download an app called netstat from the appstore, it is free-run it and check if you have push.apple.com in the active sockets (=green pin)If you have it even with all disabled as above described, you are really having the problem, they are not only feelings or dreams. Something is constantly acting along this socket, your data usage will go up even if the phone is in standby, the usage time will do the same.2. How to fix itAfter many and many attempts some users found that the responsible app is the app store.Simply go to settings->store and EXIT from the account.Run Netstat again and you will see that push.apple.com is not active anymore.Check data volume and usage time again and you will see that they are not going to increase anymore. At this point you can activate again your notifications, mail and what you usually need, your power and data consumption will go back to the values you were used to before upgrading to iOS 4.3.If you login into the appstore again you will face the problem again. Of course it is not THE solution but it is an acceptable workaround while waiting for a fix from apple.Final message:to all the users: try this and enjoy your battery againto the Apple engineers: please read, learn and fixCiao.Davide Macbook pro 13"-Mid 10 Mac OS X (10.6.6) Iphone 4 32 Gb - fw 4.3
After starting an upgrade to 4.3, my iPhone crashed and became unknown to my PC/iTunes. The suggested solution was to Restore, which I duly did for the next few hours, including that the Restore also upgraded to 4.3 somewhere inbetween. Everything, at least since my last safety back-up, restored (synced) OK, including e-mail accounts, music, apps etc. But, not tomtom Western Europe. Ends up with an unknown error. Any ideas or similar experiences? iPhone4 iOS 4
Hi All -- My Google maps (the one that came with the phone) constantly sends me to the wrong location. Ill type in a known address (lets say 5410 Wilshire Blvd, 90036) and it will give me directions just to Wilshire Blvd (no street address). It does this almost every time, both in Maps view and List view.Ive tried typing the address in, or linking to it from my calendar meeting location, and still doesnt work.I have the google app, so I can go there, go to Maps and enter it in there and it works fine, but that seems like a lot of extra work. Anyone find a fix? Also, Im finding it near impossible to view traffic on the map if you have a route marked.
Hi all!Ive just noticed a strange things on my iPhone4. When I use wifi (browsing on Safari, using mailbox, etc.) after 10-15 minutes (sometimes less or more) the Internet traffic just got stop. This time I need turn off and on wifi at the settings and after is everything is ok again. Any clue what is this and why? iPhone4 iOS 4 iOS 4.2.1

Ive seen quite a few postings here where otherwise smart people claim that the Push mail/etc synchronization used by the iPhone never transmits any data until there is something to send. Here are the facts:BOTH Fetch and Push ping the server. Sometimes Push will even ping more often. Fetch always pings at a certain interval that you set. Pushs interval is dynamic and changes depending on network TCP/IP connection longevity. It can vary from every few minutes to well over half an hour. The main difference is in how quickly the server responds. Fetch = Phone sends request. Server replies immediately. Wait a while. Repeat.Push = Phone sends request with a timeout. Server replies immediately, OR when mail arrives, OR just before the timeout. Repeat.Im confused. Why does Push have to ping at all? Doesnt it just magically send some kind of notification to the phone?Sorry, no magic in this case. The server must know your IP address to respond to, and the phone must be waiting for that response.Mobile IP connections are volatile. Your IP address can change. The connection will be dropped by the carrier if they dont see traffic. The connection can be dropped if a firewall along the network path has a smaller timeout. If youre on EDGE and you answer a phone call, the data connection stops working as well.Anything that interrupts the connection, means the server cant respond with a notification. So the Push agent on the phone creates a connection and then pings over it as often as need to keep the connection alive. Push figures out the correct ping interval by whether or not it hears from the server within the last timeout period that it used.To use an analogy: Fetch is like calling a friend every 15 minutes to see if theres any news. Push is like calling your friend, then putting them on speakerphone and waiting for them to speak. (That way, you get the news immediately.) But if they never reply, the connection automatically drops. So every once in a while you call out Are you still there? Touchscreen laptop and industrial handhelds Other OS

Bought my iPhone4 in the Apple store yesterday. Activated in-store and everything worked fine for about 4 hours. Then my phone showed no service. Ive tried resetting network settings, took out SIM card and put it back in. Calls to AT&T have not been helpful. This is the second time Ive had this happen to me. Whenever I type something into google search Ill be redirected to a page that says:To continue please type the caracters below, (and it has a CAPTCHA for me to solve)About this pageOur systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if its really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Then it has my ip address. When I click the why did this happen link I get th following message:This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. Greetings:Does anyone here install Navigon on your iPhone? 1- How does the software route multiple destinations, does it optimize the route automatically?2- Does the software has along the route feature for multiple destinations?3- What is the cost of updating the map?I e-mail these questions directly to Navigon about a week ago and havent received. So, the customer service seems to be not desirable. I may have to consider Co-pilot, tomtom, Roadmate instead. Which one is good?Your response is greatly appreciated. Windows XP Pro
Hello, after spending all day trying to fix this issue I think I have sussed it. I am posting this to help anyone with a similar problem.I just got a load of old cds out of the loft and thought I would import them to itunes, it all went well until I tried to play them back on my iphone. There were parts in the tracks that would be silent, at first I thought my speaker had stopped working then narrowed it down to a particular place in the track. The track played perfectly on itunes.I tried removing all the music then putting it all back on but it was still the same, albeit the problem track could then work but a different track would be affected. I tried removing one song from my phone then put it back on and this time it worked fine...Hmm... Every new song I played did this in random places(I put 360 new ones on) and didnt fancy removing them one by one and replacing.Anyway to cut a long story short I eventually tried disabling Zonealarm, which I installed last week and hey presto after removing my music and putting the whole lot back on, it is fine. I did notice the little za traffic icon was very active during the sync so maybe when za is doing its thing it affects that piece of data that is being transferred at that particular time????I did do a search and seen that zonealarm could cause errors during updates or it could stop you syncing completely but didt come across anyone with my problem. iPhone 4 iOS 4
My iPhone appears to have been infected by a virus and seems to have been part of a botnet. How can I remove the malware and prevent this in the future? Thanks for any pointers. Details below.--My unjailbroken iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.0 and later 4.1 exhibited some suspicious behavior which I noticed because I started to get text messages from my cellular provider for three months in a row notifying me that my contracts volume limit had been exceeded and my transfer rates would be capped. My browsing activity is restrained and a traffic increase was surprising. After resetting Usage stats on the iPhone, I noticed that outgoing traffic was 10X the volume of incoming traffic. High rates of traffic (ca. 6MB per hour outgoing) seemed to be occurring even when the phone was not in use. After watching this for a few days I felt something was fishy. To eliminate legitimate communication as a traffic source, I then did: (a) in Fetch New Data I disabled Push and set fetch to manually, (b) I disabled all e-mail accounts, (c) I turned notifications off, (d) I turned WiFi off, (e) reset all usage stats, (f) restarted the phone. Now, with no apps running and no push/pull activity permitted, the phone should have been silent. Instead, starting about 15 seconds after reboot, the phone started sending data. The rate was not constant, but within seconds of entering the stat screen youd see about 250kB sent and about 10kB received. The send rate averaged ca. 6 MB / hour, but activity was intermittent. All this data was sent over the cellular connection, so the carrier cutoff was not surprising.Next I went into Airplane mode to disable the cellular collection and reactivated WiFi. With the help of a friend I connected the phone to a router which intercepted and suppressed outgoing traffic. The router was able to log only IP addresses, but no content. Within a 5 minute period of logging, we discovered a range of connection attempts to various hosts, some of them potentially legitimate and some suspicious. The legitimate addresses were all Apple push servers, like 17.149.37.110:5223 nwk-st-courier037-05.push.apple.com. Not sure why the phone would contact them if push and notifications are off, but whatever. Then there were three blocks of suspicious IP addresses the phone contacted within the monitored ca. five minute period around 2010/09/24 13:18:06:(A) 195.50.164.138:80 Via dnstools.com this turns out to be an IP managed by ARCOR / Vodafone D2 GmbH in Germany. A Google search on the IP provides a few listings, including a few in forum posts about viruses and trojans. Via dedicatedornot.com there is an indication that the IP belongs / belonged to fotolog.com, apparently a rather popular photo sharing community. I have never used the web site or heard about it, so this seems suspicious.(B) 184.73.255.2:80 ec2-184-73-255-2.compute-1.amazonaws.com184.73.254.162:80 ec2-184-73-254-162.compute-1.amazonaws.comThis seems to be a server in Amazons cloud service. No idea what the service is.(C) 74.125.77.101:80 ew-in-f101.1e100.net74.125.77.100:80 ew-in-f100.1e100.net74.125.77.102:80 ew-in-f102.1e100.netThese addresses belong to Google. Put them in a browser and the Google main search page comes up. Why would an iPhone running no apps contact the Google main search page? Just to clarify: the iPhone is NOT and never was jailbroken and all apps I use were downloaded from the Apple app store. Maybe this means nothing and there is a perfectly valid explanation for why my iPhone would contact these web sites even though no apps were running and all communication settings were turned off. Nevertheless, it would be quite nice to know what had happened. iPhone 3GS iOS 4
