iPhone 4 Bug List-iOS 4.0.2

I just wanted to post this topic as Im curious if the Apple monster will even read this or address them. I hope I get surprised. Apple makes, hands down, the most high quality of devices, but they tend to have it there way more than ours. I guess thats what makes them Apple. Without further ado, here is my list of bugs Ive noticed and I hope youll add to it. I would just love to see Apple address these:1. Performance issues with Podcasts and multiple-tasking. Youll hear stuttering on occasion, sometimes often while playing a podcast or even music. Ive noticed this at random and also at times when the phone locks or when switching out of the iPod.2. I just noticed this one: if you take the time to write on this exact site, you will find yourself getting lost, as sometimes the text goes on, and the screen doesnt follow it. Suprising that even on the iPhones home site, it cant perform the way it ought to. Youll also notice that below here, its asking me what hardware Im using and what OS. It should be clear what hardware Im on and even what OS Im running. Brilliant, considering this is Apple.com, I selected the iPhone 4 section, and the browser can report the os version. Oh wow, I just lost my text again and had to press the expanding icon on the bottom right of this pane. Also, sometimes i lose my text permanently where I should be able to scroll down to find it but there arent scroll bars... The attention to detail of the aesthetics of the phone cant be matched on the outside, but again, leave a lot to be desired on the inside.3. Echo for the remote callers own voice when my phone is plugged into a stereo through the headphone jack. Even when my volume is so low, I cant hear it.4. While heavily texting, if I exit out to the home screen after/during the send of the text, my phone will freeze for a good 60-120 seconds. If I press too many buttons, trying to get it to respond, it will reboot itself instead of coming back to life. Again this only happens (very seldom) when Im sending texts to multiple random people and I abruptly go home while a message is being sent (or maybe received?).5. While playing music, the quality will often drop drastically when entering a game or application that has sounds. This has only happened in two places so far. While talking on the phone, if I go to play music on the iPod to hear in my headphones, and when entering Bejeweled 2 Blitz with the in-game music off and the sounds on, while iPod music is being played. I do not believe this is Bejeweled at fault. Try it, make a call and try and play some background music in your headphones. The quality drops to a very unacceptable level.Thats actually all I can think of for now! Please fix these issues Apple and I will gain a good bit of respect, knowing you heard and acknowledged this. Also, please, everyone post your findings as well, in addition to the Bluetooth, and proximity bugs that have seemingly been addressed but not resolved. iPhone 4 iOS 4 4.0.2, thanks for the option above, and for not already knowing that.

PAINFULLY slow. Can I downgrade to previous OS version iPhone 3G

Since I updated my 3G to 4.0.1 (which is what i am still running) Its been PAINFULLY slow. texting is near impossible. Loading apps is sometimes not worth the wait. Even unlocking the phone is lagged. Is there a way to downgrade to the previous OS version? I dont enjoy my phone anymore! iMac Mac OS X (10.5) Leopard

iPhone picture thumbnails black

Some of my pictures in my picture roll just show up as black but i can click and they open up as the actual picture but i cant see what the thumbnails are. Help please?

iPhone 4-Photo Orientation Problem

Ok.Everything else appears to work fine apart from the Photo stock app.When I have used my iphone4 for a while doing numerous tasks, when I go into the photos section I orientate my device landscape & it does not seem to always recognize at all that it is landscape, however right after I can go into say safari and it rotates fine.(If I reboot the phone it seems to fix the issue and it rotates again however its not the first time its occurred.Also sometimes when I take pictures for whatever reason the phone does not recognize where you take them so the geotaging fails to work. (This could be to do with trying it indoors though). iPhone4 iOS 4

Slowly having change of heart iPhone 4

Ok, Ive been an iphone fanatic since the I got my first 3g and never looked back. However now, with all the non-stop issues from apple, Im slowly beginning to feel like I should give android a try just to see if its any better. With every new phone apple releases its great hype about what it can do and blah blah blah, but lately the actual experience is very short of those hypes. 1. Battery life-Apple claims I can surf the web on wifi for up to TEN hours, but in reality, if I take my phone off the charger in the morning at 100%. If I leave wifi ON without doing any browsing whatsoever, Im bound to get a lousy 5 to maybe 6 hours of LIGHT usage. Because my battery just keeps on going down just for having wifi on. 2. HD Video-This is a big one as it was a selling factor to me. However HD videos are only useful if the color is accurate. Im sick and tired of YELLOW tinted videos indoors and over exposed (too much brightness) videos outdoors. Same goes for pictures. In fact for pictures using flash tend to create WASHED out images way more than well lit ones. On top of that, if you are lucky enough to be shooting a video where the color is just right (accurate) if the subject moves about 2 feet from the iphone4, the entire color scheme or shooting theme now changes to blue. The problem with that is it makes people with dark skin look even darker. My old 3GS still takes better pictures and videos than this HD crap. I wont even mention the barrel distortion of the front facing camera that makes me look like a cone head. 3. Proximity-While this has NOT happened much to me, when it does, its ****. Its the most frustrating thing to keep pressing buttons with your cheek, placing people on mute without knowing, and even hanging up on them. 4. Updates_Why should an update comes out and work for some while cause problems for many including me. I no longer appreciate these updates that fix XYZ, and at the same time creates ABC of new problems. After updating to 4.0.2, several times pressing the home button would not wake the phone up, and my battery life seemed like it was on a roller coaster. So I went back to 4.0.1 although I would prefer to go back to 4.0 but apple isnt signing that build any more. At the end, maybe android may have similar issues. Maybe not, I dont know. However considering my happiness level has been slowly decreasing with apple. Only time will tell if I make the switch. Apple should realize that the APP store can only do so much to keep us happy. My hope is 4.1 will fix all of the above, however, Im starting to not even believe apple cares that much any more. cypher red pill

Screen Scratching iPhone 4

Normal wear and tear my eye.I have had my iPhone4 less than a month and already there are scratches accumulating in one spot.The phone has always been in a case and has never been treated any differently than my 2 iPhone 2Gs and my 3Gs. In fact... my 2G was actually in my bunker gear when I was on the fire department quite frequently... Not one scratch. The 4 has never been in that sort of scenario... scratched up.I could see calling it normal wear and tear if this was on the BACK... but as the screen is both the visual and tactile interface to the device... This is NOT acceptable. There also seem to be a large number of folks having this same issue that are repeat iPhone customer.I took it to the Genius Bar where Cletus proceed to take his T-Shirt and attempt to rub off the scratches. Why didnt I think of that?!?!?! He took pictures and said I needed to call Apple Care. Called Apple Care.. no pictures or notes in the system at all... and... too bad... normal wear. I dont get that since the normal wear and tear on a 2-3 year old phone is less than on a month old phone. AND.. this is the phone that the Great Turtlenecked One said was sooo much stronger and invincible. Um... yeah....Time for Apple to admit they messed up with the iPhone4 and do right by the consumers. MacBookPro 17" Mac OS X (10.6.4)

4.0.2-wheres my camera gone iPhone 4

Loaded up 4.0.2 like a good boy. I was having mms issues where the phone wouldnt remember the settings. Still have the same problem now but my camera has stopped working. It initialise, but the shutter doesnt open so I can only guess at hardware/ firmware issue??I can access camera pictures from it within the app, and if I choose take picture from within contacts, it just gives me the closed shutter as well. Before you ask, a month old and always in a case, never dropped or left in direct sunlight in a car mount for long. Worked fine just before update as well?? IPhone 4 smudge mark on all photos though lense clean

Good dayI notice that on all my photos, in Photo mode, there is a slight round blurred mark on top left hand side on front screen when preparing to take photos and same is very clearly there in resultant shots on Photos album and printed pictures.That mark, however, does not appear in Video shots!Obviously I thoroughly cleaned the outer lense, and front screen but to no avail, the blurred round mark always is there in all shots taken in Photo mode.A material defect or a software issue as that defect does not seem to occur in Video mode?Thks for your opinions. I downloaded my photos from my iPhone and can not find them on my Mac.

I downloaded all of the photos from my iPhone to my Mac. It asked me if I wanted to delete the photos from the phone and I checked yes. When I looked for the photos on my Mac I can not find them. Some of them are no loss because they are pictures that I shot with a camera, downloaded them to my Mac and then to the iPhone. All of them are still on my Mac. The ones that I need are some that I shot on a recent vacation. Where did they go? G5, dual 2 Mac OS X (10.3.x)

Giving old iPhone 3G to friend with ATT service already

Want to give my friend my old iPhone 3G. She currently has a different smartphone but is on ATT. She has fulfilled her current contract so shes just on month to month. She has unlimited texting and data with her current plan. Looks like her SIM card will fit into my old iPhone 3G. Will she be requited to sign up for new iPhone specific text and data plans or be able to keep what shes got now? Should I restore the iPhone to factory settings before giving it to her, and would that affect whether or not she can use her current voice, text, and data plans? iMac Intel Core 2 Duo (white), MacBook, mac mini, iPhone iOS 4

Updated iPhone last night and fiels are now gone

Last night I upated my wife iPhone in iTunes with the latest update and now pictures as of last November are gone and messages she previously deleted are appearing on her phone again. Any ideas what is going on and how I can fix it?

iPhone 4 quasi-recognised but not where it counts

My problem has become the bane of my life in the past week. Ill give you the whole story in detail first and explain the problem at the bottom for those of you who just want to read on in case its a simple and obvious fix Im clearly overlooking...I bought my iPhone 4 the day it came out on O2 (UK). Ive had my Macbook since August 2007 and it was running OS X 10.4. I was also given a SIM card that I could put in my old phone and copy the contacts across and snap down into a Micro-SIM to put into my iPhone 4. Upon coming home, I found out I couldnt sync it to my Macbook because I needed a more recent version of OS X, so I decided to set it up on my mums laptop (essentially unused and brand new laptop, because she doesnt know the first thing about computer and I still have no idea why she bought it in the first place... It is running Windows 7). The iPhone started up okay and I synced a few songs Id hastily downloaded and the next day I went away for Spain for a month where I took loads of pictures, lovingly stored on my iPhone.On my return from Spain, I wanted to back up my iPhone and get some new music (as Id grown incredibly sick of the 30-odd songs Id taken away with me to sunbathe with) and save my pictures in case anything went wrong. I also wanted a fix so that I could get my iPhone to sync to my Macbook (as Im going back to University and away from mums laptop in about 3 weeks)... I managed uploaded my pictures onto facebook and my mums computer, so theyre safe (thank God!) I went to the Apple Store after reading online, and realised I had to buy the Snow Leopard Family Pack (or whatever its called, the expensive one with iLife and iWork included) and updated my Macbook yesterday, along with the other extras.I was finally ready for my iPhone to get all of my music from my iTunes that Id build up over the last few years and was eagerly waiting everything to be good in the world. I plugged my iPhone in and immediately iPhoto comes up and offers to import all of my pictures. After this I wonder why iTunes hasnt come up and do it manually. The iPhone is not there as an option, nor is it on the desktop (as was normal with my old iPods...) I followed instructions I found online, and proceeded to Reset All Settings, restart the iPhone, iTunes, try different USB ports, completely remove every lingering file of iTunes and reinstall it, make sure everything was up to date and from all of this Ive had no luck!I plugged my iPhone back into my mums laptop and restored it to factory settings. It was finally back to how it was in the beginning and I took it out and shoved it into the Macbook. This time, NOTHING. I plug it back into my mums laptop and sync it again to make sure all is okay (dont worry I had a list saved of all my apps because for some reason I thought this was the most important thing) and realised all my contacts had been deleted. This wouldnt be a problem if I hadnt leant my old phone to my brother for his trip around Europe whilst I was in Spain and it was stolen from him...SO... To conclude, after getting over the shock that I no longer have any important contacts from my year abroad in Denmark, nor my friends back here in the UK (who Ill see anyway so its not as important), and the annoyance that Ill have to create one of those annoying Facebook groups I hate asking for contact details and giving my number out to the world... I STILL cant sync my iPhone to my Macbook (10.4, upgraded to 10.6.3) which has cost me not only the cost of an iPhone I dont wish to use in its current state, but ≈£130 for the OS upgrade, and an additional £100 for the new external hard-drive to make sure everything was backed up nicely before I performed the update.PLEASE HELP ME, Im all out of things to try!!xxx Macbook Mac OS X (10.6.3) (Originally Tiger, Updated to Snow Leopard)

last night strange noise emitting from 3G possibly overheating iPhone 3G

last night, i was using my iPhone pretty much, texting and internet, and i did test out the video playback as well. btw i was using Atomic web browser from the app store for the internet browsing. and about a few minutes later the phone got kinda hot and out came a single high-pitched beeeep sound for about 1 to 2 seconds. it wasnt the random email notification as other posts have mentioned. possibly the battery? cause it sure sounded like it was coming from the phone. thanks. just wondering what this sound is. iPhone 3G - 16 GB iOS 4

Having problems with texting in Korean with my iphone 4

International texting iPhone

Daughter in U.K. has iPhone G4, Dad in U.S. has Droid on T-mobile. Dad can receive texts from U.K., however daughter cannot receive texts from U.S. This has recently occurred since daughter upgraded to G4 phone, all was well with G3. Any suggestions please? imacG5, iBook G4

Need help please iPhone 3G

Hi Everyone,Im a bit frustrated right now. A couple days back I decided to downgrade from 4.0 to 3.13. No problems, things went smooth as silk, but being an idiot about this stuff, didnt know I was supposed to back up all my data, texts, pictures, and most importantly plants vs zombies saved games. Yep, I lost it all. Being the swift thinker that I am, I thought no big deal, I can just upgrade back to 4 and restore from all my saved data. Heres the challenge: Itunes on my win 7 rig no longer recognizes my 3g Iphone. Made an appt to go to the local genius bar and of course the phone worked fine on their macs. The genius was nice enough to put 4 on my phone and send me out the door. As Im walking out the door, I go to the app store on my phone to see if I can just download all the apps Ive purchased directly on the phone. That didnt work, I was only able to get the Google mobile app. I get home and itunes still does not recognize my iphone. I do some digging and it appears there are some issues with my motherboard (P55, in a Dell XPS8000) and itunes. After dinking with things a few too many hours I finally decide to just use my old laptop to load up my now empty iphone. Itunes on the laptop recognizes the iphone and I authorize my computer for the store and think Ill have a couple hours to kill to download my apps. . . Ugh! Only one ap has downloaded, google mobile. My guess is I somehow wiped out the record of my other purchases even though they show in my purchase history in the app store. My pleas for help are: 1. Is there any possible way to get my pictures back that I had back in 3.1.3?2. Any way to get back my apps Ive already purchased. 3. Any success stories with P55 motherboards, Ive tried running itunes in compatible mode, making changes to regedit, opening in iphone explorer, pretty much all the steps that come up in a google search. HiI am having problems sending pictures (in messages). I can receive them and until recently also sending them. I have contacted my phoneoperator (Telenor) and they have tried to help me without sucess. I have also tried the help/support on Apples homepage with the same result. downgrade to 3.1.3 worked however phots will not sync iPhone 3G

I successfully downgraded from 4.0.1 back to 3.1.3 using the methods described at: http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313.All is fine and everything came back to life except I now cannot sync photos.. I moved all of my Camera Roll photos that were visible when the iPhone was plugged in into the iPhoto folder that is specifically set-up to be the folder that syncs to the iPhone pictures. iPhoto sees all of the photos and the item count is correct. However, when I sync I get a red alert that says The iPhone Theo Glucks iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.Uh...what might that file be and how can I find it? iPhone Photos disappeared 3G

I shoot A LOT with my iPhone.Yesterday my iPhone died, after re-charging it i turned it back on. It said re-building photo library, once it was done. 2 months worth of pictures were gone, including a family vacation album.really really frustrated and dont know what to do. Unable to send pictures anymore iPhone

Hi, Im new to this thing and just made an account. Ive been having a problem with my iphone 3G. Today I realized I cannot send pictures anymore, when trying to send a photo to my cousin. I then noticed that when Im writing a text, the little camera icon to add a picture is not there any more. I asked my parents if they somehow canceled sending pictures but they said they didnt do anything. Im confused why this happened. Is it because I upgraded to 4.0.1? After the update my phone has become REALLY slow and crashes a lot. Also takes a **** of a time to view a text message. How can I fix these problems? Windows Vista

cellular data turned off problem iPhone

Hey, so i got my brand new iPhone 4 a few days ago, i dont have a plan. So i disabled the data, because i dont need it, and can use wifi instead.The thing is that every time im not on a wifi network, and go into text messages, i always get this message that pops up cellular data is turned off. And it tells me how to enable the data or connect to a wifi network. I simply dismiss the message. But its getting annoying when it pops up many times while im texting, or simply opening the message application... id love to get rid of that pop up!Can anyone please help?thanks iPhone 4 iOS 4

Text messages take forever to receive even with full reception iPhone

My iPhone 3G seems to be having a problem where I can be having a text conversation with someone, and out of the blue, I will stop receiving text messages from them. I will go to check the phone, and theres no message, so I unlock it and go to type another reply to the person Im texting, and then after I type around three characters or so, all of a sudden I will get a text back from them, and then possibly another one asking me why Im not replying... I know for a fact that I have reception the whole time, because I was checking every minute or so. It would seem if I leave the phone unlocked, then I tend to get messages more frequently, but otherwise, its becoming very unreliable on trusting my iPhone to actually receive messages straight away.I am on iOS 4.0.1, and apart from this Ive had only one other issue with it, but that was fixed by doing a restore. This issue seems to continue, however. Any suggestions on what to do? iPhone 3G Windows 7

Small green check mark by successfully sent text message. iPhone

I have recently upgraded to the 4.0.1 on my iPhone 4 where I lost everything from pictures to calendars. Unfortunately I have still not been able to get them back. I have noticed that some of my successfully sent messages are a light green shade where as others are the normal darker green but have a small green check mark by it. I am trying to figure out what is causing this, or what it means. One sent message might be the normal dark green color with the little check, the next will be the faded green with no check mark. Any ideas on what it is, or what is causing it? Iphone 4 iOS 4

My Open Letter to Steve Jobs Apple iPhone 3G

Dear Mr. Jobs,I wish to congratulate you in your ability of rejuvenating the Apple brand over the past decade. The first computer my family ever purchased was an Apple IIc. My school computers were always Apple hardware. However, for most of my adult life I’ve been a PC and never owned a post iMac Apple product but always envied those around me. When I have to work in the Computer labs on EKU Campus, I choose Mac. Because of this long distance love affair, I received my first iPhone as a gift, and my view of Apple as a company and a brand has dramatically changed. In 2007, I was given an iPhone (8 GB) for Christmas from my wife; she had been secretly saving for the purchase for several months. Much to her chagrin, it failed to work out of the box. She cried and apologized all day. The AT&T store said that it was a SIM Card reader issue. When the store manager called Apple Customer Service, they explained that I had to return the phone directly to Apple with a turnaround time of approximately 10 business days. The store manager did not understand why this was necessary when they had iPhones in stock. He chose to replace the original, even though it was not company policy (January 2008).This iPhone was wonderful and I showed it off to all of my friends, family, and co-workers. However, it began to develop yellow and green streaks on the screen and air bubbles under the glass plate. When I took the iPhone to the Apple store in Knoxville, they apologized and happily replaced it (March 2008). Its replacement developed air bubble issues and I continued to use the phone until it was unresponsive (September 2008). I returned this phone to the Knoxville store as well and was given a replacement. Both of these phones were given to me without a box and it is my impression that they may have been refurbs or returned phones that had been restored to factory settings within the store.My fourth iPhone began to have syncing issues, App refresh issues, and crashes with the OS 2.2 update. These problems continued with the 2.2.1 and 3.0 updates, it also developed air bubbles. After contacting Apple Customer Service, I was able to solve the problem, only to have them begin again after approximately 13+ usage hours. Frustrated by these failings, my wife and I called; then, emailed Apple Customer Service with a letter similar to this one. At that time, my wife received a call during the day, and she was made aware of the fact that none of the previous issues had been reported by the Knoxville store. In addition, the Apple records did not have my current phone shown as being used by an AT&T customer. Their response to the issues was a iPhone 3G replacement that would cost me an additional $99 because the old one was out of date. My wife agreed not knowing that I had this same option available through an AT&T upgrade. I returned my iPhone Edge to Apple; since, my wife had agreed to the trade and it did not change my upgrade schedule with AT&T. However, I was disappointed in the fact that up to this point, my wife had spent $600 on my iPhone and I had yet to receive a device that worked. I mentioned this to the Customer Service rep and she seemed genuinely concerned but did not offer any additional reimbursements.When I received my current iPhone 3G last June, It worked well and I was extremely happy with the OS 3 updates. However, with each update since the original, I have had to reinstall USB drivers on all three of my computer. Starting in April 2010, after an update, my iPhone 3G no longer registers as a camera on any of my computers. I have reinstalled USB drivers and completed two restores. The first restore was required because of an attempted/failed sync that sent the phone into a cycle of unstoppable refreshes once the phone was unlocked. (I lost approx. 150 photos of my daughter as a result of this restore.) The iPhone continued to freeze and refresh unexpectedly; so, I completed another “successful” restore.Currently, the iPhone will sync with iTunes but still does not show as a proper camera. I have reinstalled all Apple software; however, this has not solved the problem. In addition to the sync/download issues, streaming podcast via wifi has become a consistent problem. It will crash 7 out of 10 times while streaming on my home network. I choose this option because I try to save space for pics since I cannot currently download onto my computer. I must say that my frustrations with the iPhone have begun to ware my patience with the device and Apple as a brand. Whereas, I use to taut the abilities of my phone and the Customer Service, now I’ve become unimpressed and repeatedly lowering my expectations of performance. The convenience of being able to share digital pictures of my daughter with her grandparents has been wonderful. When it works, it is a great tool; I even convinced my in-laws to buy one. Yet the most disheartening thing was a comment my wife made after we watched the Keynote last week. She said, “What? I can’t believe they have a better phone already. Isn’t that a fourth upgrade or something? I feel like such an idiot for spending $500 on a phone that has never really worked. I should have waited.”Now, I am wondering why I even want to keep my phone. As it stands I could walk into to AT&T get a free phone, reduce my monthly phone bill, and just run my iPhone 3G like an iPod Touch that sort of works. I understand hardware limitations often restrict software ability. Does this mean that Apple anticipates making their devices obsolete within two generations? If so, why were we not told this? I want to be a loyal Apple consumer. I even had visions of using my awesome iPhone as way to convince my wife that we should become a Mac family. Yet, my history with this device and the current view of consumer bounce-back on iPhones, begins to worry me. As of right now, I don’t know if I want to upgrade to a new iPhone 3GS let alone 4. It seems like I would just seem gullible when the next one no longer works. Part of me says cut my losses, wait out my family plan contract with AT&T, and go somewhere else. Maybe, after the iPhone 6 or whatever comes out, enough of the kinks will be fixed, and it will be worth my money to purchase again. However, the rest of me, remembers writing DOS code on my family’s Apple IIc and watching the floppy disk boot. Those moments changed my life. I’ve been using and teaching with computers ever since.________________________________________________________I have contacted/emailed Gizmodo, iLounge, Engadget, TUAW, and Macworld hoping to generate a response or at least some answers about the quality control issues I mentioned in my Open Letter to Steve Jobs. Since writing the letter (06-14-10), I have completed three full restores, all of which were backup from February. The first one was prompted by an iTunes download glitch. I attempted to download two podcasts, the downloads failed and wiped my entire music catalog off of the iPhone. So I decided to restore to a previous backup. While using the first restore, I belieive I may have found one possible solution to the camera issue. Picasa may be deleting info packets as it deletes pictures after downloads. I attempted to download some random pics as a test for the now working driver; then, deleted them using Picasa, like I’ve done in the past. Immediately afterward the computer no longer recognized the camera. After a second reboot (again the February backup) no problems until Itested the camera driver and it happened again. Hence a third restore was necessary. The third time I used the Windows Photo Gallery manager and deleted the pics using the iPhone, no problems.It seems to be working now, but at least three phone calls were bumped directly to voice-mail during the day, two before and one after the restores. This has been a newly recurring event since about mid-May but is starting to occur more often now.This is my fifth iPhone and all have had some kind of issue; bad SIM card reader, air bubbles, color streaking, or as mentioned above, repeated software crashes. Its not jailbroken nor have I ever attempted that process. Could anyone at your site tell me if my horrible history with the iPhone is close to common or radically unlucky. I am thinking about updating from a 3G to the 3GS using the Radio Shack trade-in credit but am very skeptical of what I might get in return.__________________________________________________________________________It has been a month since my first set of emails went out. Yesterday, I went to the new Apple Store/Genius Bar in Lexington, KY and was told that they would order me a replacement. I dont know for sure if this will be a new one or a refurb but am skeptical. Slow Text and Find my iPhone app 3G

Since the iOS4 update my 3G texting has been delayed and cant type as fast as before the update. Anyone having the same problems? Also, the find my iPhone app is useless on the 3G because it requires multitasking, correct?Going to wait for all the chaos and whoop-la to calm down before getting the iPhone 4.

Cannot sync what is in recently added to my iphone. It is a podcast I downloaded from a website. Error message from itunes says cannot do as cannot find My pictures folder on my iphone. Maybe the podcast I downloaded to itunes has a video shot in it?? The podcast did not download to podcasts in my stuff in itunes, I only see it in recently added. If I check under podcasts in my iphone, it is not there and also not there if I look at my music list on the iphone alphabetically. I am a beginner at all of this. Thanks Windows XP

Lost photos updating to 4 iphone explorer fix not working. 3G

History of my update. First attempt.Using my offices PC, I plugged my 3G in and it proceeded to start backing up. It proceeds very slowly, and stops before it completes backup. I figure in order to speed up the backup, I will delete all my free apps on my phone manually. I dont have many apps, I left the one app that actually cost me something. I plug it in to my wifes macbook, the backup completes a lot quicker. I unplug the phone just to let it do it one more time. We then download the OS 4 update. I plug the phone back in to update my phone to the new OS. It starts doing a backup which appears to go EXTREMELY slow. Its late so I went to bed, wake up the next morning with OS 4 running but all 1800 of my pictures are gone except the first 30 or so I took when I got the phone, and my guitar tuner app that I left on the phone is also gone. We checked the mobile backups and there are no backup files on my wifes mac.I read about the iphone explorer fix. we download it, and there arent any files in the media folder to show. I have most of my important pictures on facebook, but it would be nice to get them all back. Im not very technical, obviously, any help would be appreciated. Hi All, I badly need to take my datea back from my Iphone which is in recovery mode. here is my story, I went to a very important scientific conference and I was excited about using my Iphone to do all the tasks I used to do with paper including taking notes,writing contacts and taking pictures from the people names, presented papers and.... I got plenty of valuable information (what is the point of having an smart phone and still sticking to paper-based anti-trees world)then I came back home and start sync-ing my phone with my laptop(PC). since my iphone was downloading its new component from the web(as I checked dont ask me again) while it was synchronizing and I went to sleep I am not sure that hibernating my laptop or that new component made my phone go into the recovery mode. after number of appointment with different app-stores, all genius staffs told me that they can only restore my phone by a simple click and nothing more. I can not believe that apple-store does not have any other tool than can communicate in lower level to take my data back. I feel that this best well known customer care does not care about the data people losing because of their bug. I would pay Apple store to restore my data if they provide this kind of service. I was told it is a common issue and if I try to use some online software then my phone will get out of its warranty and then they will not even be able to diagnose the problem later!!( which one is more important? cause or effect? when apple people already know the reason as a generic bug) I bought this phone in January and I was very happy with it until this thing irritated me to its most possible amount. It is very hard for me to accept that all my networking in the conference will be screwed up only because of the bug I was never told before about! iPhone 3G sluggish after installing iOS4

I read where others are having issues with their iPhone 3G after updating to iOS4. I, too, am having problems. My phone does things like: It sometimes hesitates for several seconds when switching between applications or screens; battery power was draining quickly, but that stopped after the iOS4.0.1 update; sometimes applications just crash and it takes me to the home screen; some of my pictures (not all) that have been in the camera roll for some time no longer display previews; sometimes when using Safari, it crashes and takes me to the home screen; the phone just seems to generally run slower. Ive had my phone for two years now, so the change is quite obvious. It worked very well before the iOS4 update. Hopefully, a new update will be issued soon and it will alleviate these problems. iPhone 3G iOS 4

OS 4 seems to give big lag in functions of 3g phone iPhone

It seems that after upgrading to OS 4 my 3g phone has some serious lag when trying to run normal phone functions, i.e. texting, opening new apps, loading anything really.Is this normal for 3g users?Im thinking of downgrading back to the original OS for the 3g... Windows XP Pro

Iphone 3g 4.0.1 OS Problems

I loved my iphone. SOOOOOO MUCH. However when i updated to 4.0 because of some Apps requiring it i was appalled...*** apple!?!My phone is 3X as slow now in texting, pull up different screens, and games. Some game apps i cant even play due to the phone lagging. (ever try playing scoops while the ice cream jumps down the screeN?)The iphone also will go from 5 bars to 1/0 bars which screws up texting slightly and drops calls constantly. I hope apple sees this as well as the pluthera of other complaints and gets their s#^% together and fixes this.If anyone has a solution besides downgrading (which i am doing today) please let me know.Thanks,Iphone lover? 3g iOS 4

Upgrade to os4-way to get lost information-CONTACTS and TEXTS iPhone 3G

I have been spending hours, and hours, trying to figure out what happened to this phone. I upgraded to os4, and when I did, I lost everything (contacts, texts, pics, apps, etc.), eventhough I backed up everything on a weekly basis. Not sure where Apple dropped the ball on this major issue. I have been looking for hours to find a fix. I came across a post that was helpful in finding a way to solve some of my problems, including FINDING MY LOST CONTACTS! I have to manually enter them into my phone again, but at least I have them! Like, me I am sure many of you dont memorize phone numbers anymore. I have just added to a post I found by Somebody2 on another forum (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11831613), as a starter, and added to it, to give more specific directions. I am extremely thankful; to have found this! I am still looking to find a way to get back my lost pictures, but that may be a lost cause. Hopefully this can help some of you out there, like it did me(....sigh of relief). Anyway, here is a way to find those lost contacts and texts:Here are the main steps, assuming that you did backup your iPhone using iTunes recently:1. Use the following tutorial to install FireFox with SQLite Manager add-in and point it to your backup folder:http://www.skyontech.com/blog/iPhone-app-data-access (**when following these directions, make a copy of the backup folder, and paste it on your desktop to make the overall process a little easier)**2. Once you have opened SQLite, Click on the options (hammer/screwdriver icon) at the top. Change the Default file extension for SQLite files to mddata then click OK. Next, Click on the word Directory at the top, just under the menu bar. Then select choose Select default directory. Choose the most recent folder inside the backup folder you copied to the desktop, then click OK. **3. Now the more time consuming part (took me at least 30 minutes). Beside the word Directory you can now choose files from a drop down menu. The easiest way I found to do this is to click on the 1st one, then click go. You can continue down the list using the arrow key, and click go each time you go to a new file... As you do this, you will see the left side change. Sometime it has nothing (No directory found), and other times there is a list of menus (master table, tables, views, indexes, triggers). I found mine in the 38...range out of the hundreds of files.**4. Continue to go through the files until you see ABGroup under the tables menu as an options (it does not show up under the master table menu, just under tables).5. Once you have found ABGroup, Click on the Execute SQL tab in the SQLite Manager and copy/paste the following:====================SELECT First, Last, Organization, Note, value as Phone FROM ABPerson, ABMultiValue WHERE ABMultiValue.property=3 AND ROWID=record_id ORDER BY First====================Then click Run SQL button.You should now see the list of all contacts backed up from your iPhone. You can also highlight all rows with the mouse and the SHIFT key, then right-click and select Copy Rows as CSV for Excel, then paste them to Excel so that you can print your contacts spreadsheet.NOTE: You can do the same thing for finding text messages. The only difference, is that you want to look for the word message under the tables menu instead of abgroup.I have never posted here, but this was a HUGE help to me, so I thought I would try to share a more detailed way to get these back. I know its not easy, but IT WORKS!! I am so relieved, and thanks a lot Somebody2!!!! If anyone knows how to recover lost pictures, even if it is a process like this, please, please, please post it. 3G iPhone not OS4 Compatible

If you are reading this forum it is probably already too late and you upgraded your 3G to OS4. I would love to see Mr. Jobs reaction to doing a simple task like texting or opening a contact on a 3G iPhone with OS4.0 or OS4.0.1.In the store the reaction was, ...it is not possible to downgrade...you can do with your phone what you like. OS4 on a 3G will make it an expensive paper weight.Apple - please provide a way to downgrade back to OS3. If it is a sly way for us to upgrade to an iPhone4, it has quite the opposite effect.

Iphones keyboard

I have an Iphone 3g which i have had for about a year now. Two days ago my keyboard on facebook and texting keyboard would not turn landscape. It was only later that i discovered neither do the pictures turn landscape. Is there some setting to change or another way to fix it? HP Pavilion dv9000 iOS 4

iphone 3g 8GB-upgraded to new OS and now everything

Ok the upgrade process... what can I say good about it? It restored all my apps and pictures, etc but all my phone settings were nuked. All my email settings were gone, all of my contacts were erased, all of my favorite numbers were gone, all of my SMS messages were gone... even small details like which icons I had on my dock and the arrangement of my apps on each screen gone.Luckily I sync everything with gmail so I was able to get my contacts up and manually rearrange etc. I was not too angry at this point.Enter using my phone. Now if I use pandora or slacker radio for more than 10 minutes they start giving me a skipping sort of noise like a CD with scratches on it and then they crash.I shut down the phone and restarted it and the same result happens. Up until now I have literally run pandora for an 8 hour workday with no crashes. Now every 10 minutes it is shutting down. Tried slacker and it is even worse.Opened up 4square and logged in, of course it hung and never completed the first check-in, had to exit back to homescreen and then it crashed the second time. Now I go back in and it works the 3rd time. I havent had these problems until now.oh... but yay... i have threaded emails PC Windows Vista

iPhone 3GS Connection Issues

Hey guys,About 3 days ago my phone started having trouble getting AT&T service. It goes in and out for no apparent reason. Sometimes it will have a couple bars, but no AT&T, 3G, or E symbol next to them causing my phone to be unusable for texting or calls. When this happens and I try to make a call or text I get the error message Could not activate cellular data network.This has been happening in areas where I normally have perfectly fine signal, and my phone will fluctuate from having No Service and giving me the Could not activate cellular data network error, to having full 3G service a minute or two later. Sometimes restarting my Phone fixes this, but not always. Im not sure whats causing this problem, and was wondering if anyone here had any ideas. Also, Im not sure if this problem is related or unrelated but my phone shut off by itself and I had to do a hard restart to get it to come back on. And just a second ago it restarted on its own accord.... Not sure if these are all ominous signs of my phone dying a slow death, or if theres a reasonable fix for one of two of these problems.
