I have the iPhone 3G. The sound for the games worked when I first got the new phone but now it doesnt.. I have done everything I know to get the sound to work (turn up volume, sound settings, etc).. Still nothing..The iPod feature plays sound through the external speakers so I can still listen to my music files. The telephone part works.. Even Pandora will play sound.. Yet Bejeweled, iSlots, and a few other games will not play the sound that I know works on others iPhones..Any suggestions? Dell LapTop Windows Vista
Hi allHaving problems charging my iPhone when conected to my JBL On stage IIIp portable system. At first it worked fine but a day later although the speaker works fine it will not charge my iPhone and invariably puts out a message saying the device is not designed to work with iPhone giving the option to go Airplane mode.Im guessing the only way to charge the iPhone is through the USB on my laptop iPhone
I was curious if anyone knows if it will be possible for these headphones http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB770G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3NA&mco=MTgwMjc4MQ will work with iPhone 3G in any of the next firmware updates. Theyre pretty much identical to the ones that came with the phone with the only addition being the volume control. It would be pretty nice to use those to control the volume to I wouldnt have to take the phone out of my pocket. Now I know that sounds like laziness but with what I do in school with darkroom photography, printmaking, ceramics and stuff like that, my hands can get pretty messy. What I really want to know is if the volume control will work with iPhone 3G through firmware updates in the future or if its completely hardware based for the volume control to work. Serious problem here! Audio just stopped working using internal speaker. Went to YouTube to show a friend how it works, and video was fine, but no audio. So I switched to iPod mode, NO AUDIO!!! Output is fine via dock connector or headphones, and the internal speaker works fine when playing ringtones, etc. What happened, and how can I fix it? Tried cycling power. Please help. iMac intel, Powerbook G4, ibook G3, iPhone Mac OS X (10.4.10)
This problem just started yesterday morning. I am unable to make or receive phone calls on the AT&T network. When receiving a call, the phone says I have full signal. When I try to answer the call, the signal bars fall to nothing and then it searches for the network. This happens on both the Edge and 3G areas. When making a call, once again the phone is telling me I have full signal, then it drops to nothing. The call is failed, then searches for the network.I am able to text message, the data is not working. I have restarted, reset, removed the sim card. Im out of ideas. Just a side note, while on GPS in 3G areas, my current location is telling me I am in Cleveland. The problem with that is I live in Delaware. I am not sure if these are related problems.Does anyone have a clue what the heck is going on with this thing. I really dont want to replace it again, this being my second iPhone. I have noticed a fault with my iPhone 3G when I use Speakerphone. As soon as I select Speakerphone mode I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. They hear no sound, not even faintly. The microphone seems to mute. However, when I switch back and put the unit up to me ear, they can hear me and I can hear them. When I got the iphone this function definitely worked. I now mostly use a Bluetooth headset so only recently (post software 2.2 upgrade) noticed the speakerphone defect. It sounds like a software defect rather than a microphone fault to me. Have tried a Restore but this has not cured the problem. Has anybody had a similar problem? I will call O2/Carphone Warehouse if nobody has encountered this issue, however, when I contacted them to question the lack of PUSH e-mail, before the last software upgrade, O2 tried to tell me that it was my e-mail provider that was at fault! However, immediately after the upgrade my PUSH e-mail returned!!! Thanks for any help! IPhone 3G 16Gb Windows Vista
I have just encountered a problem where my iphone 3G will not make any noise through the standard ear piece. When I adjust the volume it seems to think that the headphones are plugged in (which they arent). If i change to speaker phone it works fine (in speaker mode) and if i actually plug the headphones it works as wellanyone lwith the same issue Mac OS X (10.4.9)
Not the typical RF interference you get when around speaks, every call I make with the phone now has clipping or static sound in the ear speaker. If I put on speaker phone it is on there a few times. Wanted to see if anyone else experienced similar, before I have to make a 1-1/2 hour trip to my LOCAL apple store. 16GB 3G iPhone G4 15" PowerBook Mac OS X (10.4.9)
Hi, suddenly my iphone earpiece it´s not giving me sound. When I recieve a call people can hear, but I can´t. Also with the voicemail, I have to use the head phones, or the bluetooh. The only way to speak in a conversation with out the head phones it´s to use it in speaker mode. I have tried everything, plug and unplugged many times the headphones (it recognize the it doesn´t have it because when I put it out it says ringer and no headphones ringer in the iphone when I change the volume). The ipod part is working correctly, when I recieve a call or make a call, it stops. The mic is working fine. Can somebody help me to find where can be the problem? I already reset it, two times, try the plug and unplugged thing, clean the jack trail MacBook Pro 15 Mac OS X (10.5.6)

A couple of weeks ago the tip of my iPhone earphone broke off into the port. I had my iPhone in the inside of my coat pocket, I come home, take out the earphone and low and behold the tip became stuck inside of it.My iPhone thinks that a set of earphones are constantly plugged in, even tho they are not. Because of this, I have to talk on the phone by either a bluetooth or speaker.About a week ago I went to the Apple store in Manhattan and seeked some help. I didnt have an appointment or anything as I was just touristing around the city and just ran into the Apple store. I was planning on going to my local Apple store sometime after Christmas when I have a few days off and time to take care of it.At the store, an blue shirt genius attempted to pry the piece out with some type of tool to no prevail. He then said to me since the iPhone is still covered under warranty, he would be happy to exchange it right then and there. I told him that I didnt want to as I wasnt prepared because I never backed up any of my contacts and such. The plan for me was to go home, backup my iPhone data, go to my local Apple store, have them look at it, and if they were unable to fix it, then get a new iPhone under warranty. So today I go out to my local Apple store at King of Prussia, PA and the associate and manager there told me that they can not give me an exchange because the tip of the earphone breaking off was due to accidental damage, and accidental damage is not covered by the limited warranty. (I looked over the warranty online after I left and it does say this.) However, how is this accidental damage? It was in my coat pocket comfortably, working fine all the way until I took it out. I asked the associate this and he referred to the roughed up edges on the rounded port to where you put the earphone jack into, and referred to this as accidental damage. BUT...that roughed up edge was caused by an Apple Store employee at the 5th avenue Manhattan store as he tried to pull it out with some tool. After some more arguing with the store manager, I ended up not getting a new iPhone yet....But he did tell me that I can buy a new one for $299; like I didnt know how much I spent on it in the first place.Another thing that ***** tho is that there is no history of me being at the Manhattan store as I never had an appointment and just walked in. But now there is a history of me going into my local Apple store and not getting a new iPhone because of accidental damage, which was caused by an Apple employee. Anyways, what do you all think about this? The manager said it was accidental damage because of the roughed up edges, but those roughed up edges were caused by an Apple employee himself.
Have had a 3giPhone (2.2) 8Gigs for 6 months and love it .Last day or so noticed that the volume control button and the sleep wake button have stopped working .Only recent change is adding Mophie Juice box .This means the phone cannot be rebooted .Have done the button tricks without success and settings reset and restore from within iTunes x 2 without any change . HiI recently purchased a iPhone 3G , however i have a big problem with the headphones ( the official ones that come in the box ) , they dont work.......at all.I am using 2.2 firmware. I plugged them into the iphone and tried to turn on music , the music plays through the speaker and nothing comes through the headphones, The same with calls. , I have tried cleaning the headphone jack by putting in and out the headphone jack a few times and rubbing the inside with a needle.I have also tried resetting the iphone , I even restored it through iTunes.I also tested the headphones on a iPod Touch and they work okay so i am guessing its a hardware problem with the iPhone. The only thing i can do is send the iPhone back and get it repaired i guess? or is there anything else i can try?ThanksAlan Medion Windows Vista none
I have the original Iphone...I have had no problems, until last week. While making a call I cannot raise the volume and I can hardly hear the person on the other line. I have reset the phone and nothing changes. If I connect with bluetooth it has normal volume levels loud and clear. Otherwise I cant get the volume to increase to how it has performed for the last year. Help! Original Iphone
Hello,I have a 3G Iphone that has been working fine until very recently. None of the buttons on the side or the top are working, including the sleep/wake button, the volume buttons, and the silence button. I havent dropped it or anything, and I just restored my phone with no success. Please help me find a solution to this annoying problem! Thanks,Paul 16GB iPhone
Ive had my iphone 3g for about a month now and Ive just noticed that the screen is peeling around the home button, around the ear speaker, and along the bottom edge of the screen. I was a screen protector on the phone, but I took it off specifically for these photos.Im not sure how to post pictures here so here are the links:http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn2832largebz0.jpghttp://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn2831largeiy6.jpgThe phone was brand new phone from my provider (Fido). From the pictures, it looks like there was already some sort of a screen protector on it from the factory. Is this correct/normal? Can it be removed? or should I just bring it to an Apple store and let them deal with it?Thanks for any info.
hi,im experiencing some odd behavior with a new iPhone 3G purchased in Italy.the phone is functioning pefrectly except for this:during a call, if i click the speaker icon, the cell-reception indicator drops to zero, call disconnects, and a few seconds later receptions is restored.same thing when connecting the iPhones headset, reception drops, call drops.more facts:when headset is plugged in, phone is fully operational, plays music, sends SMS, all good.Ive had the iPhone for just a few days, havent hacked/cracked it or anything bad or unusual. Im running the latest firmware and everything else seems fine with the phone. What could this be?thanks, ohad iPhone 3G

Hi all,I am wondering what is the best speaker system that plays both the ipod and iphone 3G. I am looking for something ideally with good sound and has a clock/alarm feature. Any input is appreciated.Thank you,Greg macbook Mac OS X (10.4.10)
Hi, I have an iPhone 3G thats been fine til today. When I use the phone, I cant hear anything. The caller, however, can hear me. The speaker in the phone is fine; I can play songs and hear them fine over the phones speaker. The problem seems to be only when I use the actual phone. When I press speakerphone during a call nothing happens then either. Its as though the act of using the device as a phone kills the speaker. As soon as I hang up the call, I can hear the speaker again.Ive been through the troubleshooting tips... Turned off bluetooth, use earphone jack to make sure no dirt is built up in the headphone jack...(Its a clean iPhone!) Ive done the two-fingered reset -- all to no avail. All the audio works except the telephone and even though the call completes - and the person on the other end can hear me - I cant hear a thing. Theres no sound at all... no hiss, nothing, when the phone is in use.Apart from the phone/audio anomaly, everything else is working fine. Have I done something stupid? (Yes, Ive tried cutting the volume up and no, it doesnt say headphone when I do) I rarely use a bluetooth headset (bluetooths now off anyway) and havent had my phone connected to anything other than my MBP to charge the battery. The area I live in doesnt support 3G, so thats turned off to save battery power. And if no one might know of a cure, where the heck do I get my phone fixed? I bought it at an AT&T store... will they take care of it if necessary? Online, it appears that Apple will let me see if its under warranty by keying in my phones serial number (and it is!) but then stops there... Wouldnt it be great if they had a link from that warranty status page to either an 800 number or some kind of email tech support... or anything useful? I would imagine the need for support is the #1 reason people look to see if they have time left on their warranty. Its almost as if Apple thinks the iPhone is infallible and will never need service because they sure dont like to tell you how they go about fixing one if need be.Sorry - rant over. Im just glad I kept my land line. Any help or advice on where I might get service - assuming its not something silly Ive done that I can fix - would be greatly appreciated. Oh - Im on version 2.2 of iPhone software, I think. Thanks very much for any help! MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Hello guys,Well, my problem is almost driving me crazy. It just started 3 days ago and I have no idea why did it happen.I was driving to my job on monday morning, and I received the first call of the day, but I couldnt hear anything, the sound was like being underwater. But the other person was able to hear me just fine. So I hang up and call back again, but the same problem again. If I put the speaker on theres not even the underwater sound coming out, its like being on mute. And if I place the headphones I cant hear either, its like theres no audio coming out of the device.I know that the earpiece, speaker and headphones are not broken, so I did a restore, but the problem persist. The weird thing is that if I use the iPod option, the speaker and headphones work, and all the sounds from the iphone are working, and I can hear them. This no audio on earpiece, speaker, headphones problem only happens when Im receiving or making a call.Ive pluged in and out the headphones more than 200 times, and nothing. But I know that solution is when the iphone thinks that is on headphones mode, but you are still able to hear on headphones and speaker. My problem is that when Im on a call I cant hear through the earpiece, headphones and speaker. Really really weird. Is anyone else experiencing this? is there a fix for this problem? Im going to wait for some replies before I take it to the Apple Store.Thank you guys. Happy Holidays.

Ive seen several bluetooth problem threads on here but I believe Im having different issues. Before the iPhone I had Sony, Nokia and HTC phones all connect easily and beautifully with the same device.Running iPhone 3G v2.2Motorola HF850 Bluetooth Car kitMazda3 OEM audio connector (Music, control and charging)Everytime the iPhone appears to be connected properly to the carkit with the bluetooth icon lit up on the iphone top left and lights and an audible tone on the carkit indicating connection. I always answer the phone by pushing the answer button on the carkit not the iphone:1/4 of the time - Works fine. Music stops on stereo and I can hear the other party and they can hear me fine.1/4 of the time - I can hear the other party fine but they cant hear me.1/4 of the time - It decides to use the mic and speaker on the iPhone instead of the carkit as if you were using it normally.1/4 of the time - Music pauses on car stereo but once I answer the call it starts playing through the motorolas speaker hidden in dash. I cant hear what the other party is saying on the phone due to music and I cant stop it either as you cant play around with the ipod functions of the phone while it is connected to a car stereo. Also, I didnt think you could listen to music on the iphone via bluetooth anyway? Another problem is there is a long pause (10sec) from the time you press the answer button to the time you can speak with the other party. There was a smaller but still noticeable pause with my old Sony Ericsson K800i of a few seconds but it was manageable. Ive unpaired and repaired the phone and kit several times with no change.Ive restored the iPhone via iTunes several times with no change.I thought it may be a problem with the OEM audio car kit but even if I disconnect (unplug) the iPhone from the kit so it is only connected to the bluetooth phone carkit it still has the same issues. At this point Im am really frustrated and annoyed about this and its got to the stage where I dont trust the bluetooth connection at all and will soon stop using the phone in the car at all. This really isnt an option for me.Any help appreciated. 15 1.5Ghz Powerbook Mac OS X (10.5.6) iPhone 3G v2.2 firmware

Hi,My iphone has a problem where I can only take calls and hear sound if I have my headphones in or I put my phone on speaker. Its driving me nuts, having to put my head phones in to answer a call, It means if I use applications/games, I have to use headphones there too. My closest technical support shop front is about 60kms away.Has this happened to anyone else?? After using my iPhone 3G for 3 months, I noticed this morning one of the infamous cracks between the mute/volume button. Have never dropped the phone and baby it like an obsession. Read that many got it exchanged for the same reason. Living in Canada where iPhones are only sold through the carrier, I wasnt sure the Apple Store would exchange it... Booked a Genius appointment for this afternoon and went. The friendly Apple rep exchanged it without a word. Im impressed. They could have argued it was me like many stores would but not Apple. I recently bought a Pioneer stereo for my car (DEH-P700BT) which just came out in March. It has a built-in USB port for direct connection to iPod/iPhone & Bluetooth capability. When I hook up my iPhone everything works perfectly, except for when I receive an incoming call while listening to iPhone through the stereo. The phone will ring and I can carry on my conversation via Bluetooth, but when the call ends my stereo will not automatically begin to play my iPhone music again. This forces me to have to unplug my iPhone and Pause/Play until I hear sound coming out of iPhones speaker. Then I can plug it back in and it will work again.Again, this only happens for incoming calls. When I make an outgoing call while listening to my iPhone through the head unit and end the conversation it switches automatically back to my iPhone music. Does anyone know if there is some kind of compatibility problem with iPhones direct connection and Bluetooth being used simultaneously? Has this happened to anyone else who uses a Pioneer head unit with USB & Bluetooth? HP Pavilion 8000z Windows Vista

Okay. I have the 16 gb iphone 3g. I recently bought a ski helmet with a motorola a2dp bluetooth device which allows the helmet to answer calls, voice dial (not on the iphone!), control mp3 player volume and pause etc. On my first day using it, I connected the iphone by the built in bluetooth for the phone features and also connected a cord for mp3. The mp3 controls didnt work!!!Then I bought the infinxx ap23 bluetooth transmitter adaptor. I was able to get 100% phone and mp3 functionality through my helmet controls (this is critical as I dont want to ski to the base and remove all of my gear to do something) However, I went skiing a few days later and only got the mp3 player going bluetooth. I could hear my phone ringing in the helmet but I couldnt answer it. During a lunch break I played with my helmet and bluetooth adaptor trying to get them to work like they did before. I still cant figure out how I got it to work! I know it has the ability to do so!Thanks in advance for any help! Macbook Mac OS X (10.5.5)
Okay - I can hear nothing on the phone. I can make calls, microphone works as folk can hear me and I can hear my own answer phone messages. I can hear nothing on speaker, the handset or a headset. I know that the speaker works as I can play my iPod and listen to answer messages...Ive reset and reloaded the software numerous times. Nothing. I wish I could try reverting to a pre 2.2 version as I think that is the problem. iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.5.5) G4
I was using my 3G iPhone (with the latest updates) at the gym the other day and I could barely hear the music. I was using them with the standard iPhone headphones. I had the volume up all of the way but it was so low I couldnt hear it.I tried it with sound check on and with it off. Not much of a difference. I checked to see if the volume Limit was on and its not.The thing is that I know when I used it at the gym months ago I didnt have a problem and didnt even have to turn it up all the way to hear it well. The phone volume and the speaker volume are exactly the same as they have always been, its just the volume out of the headphones. I have even tried other headphones (iPhone and 3rd Party) but its the same levels. Is there anything that can be causing this? Is it possible that an application that I installed could be causing this? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it from the latest iPhone update? Its really driving me crazy, and Im at the point where Im going to try to find a pair of headphones with active volume boost or something like that so I can use the iPhone with headphones.Does anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?Help!iPhone 3G, Headphones, volume low, low volume MacPro 2.66 / G4 867 Quicksilver / PM7100AV / IIsi Mac OS X (10.5.4) iPhone 3G

Since the 2.2 upgrade my phone audio will be dead unless I turn on the speaker phone. Doing a powerdown reset has fixed this in the past, but today no help.
