3G Charging but iPhone 3G

I have a 3G and 4G iphone and an Ipad. My 3G stopped charging when connected to the iphone charger. Its the same charger that Ive had for two years and worked fine. In fact, the same charger charges my iphone 4G perfectly. However, when I plug the 3G into the Ipad charger it charges fine. This is a recent development. Thoughts? macbookpro Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Free Iphone4 bumper case doesnt work with accessories sold in Apple Stores

I received my free bumper (strange my fingers and computer have tried to spell this bumber twice now!) I have found after fitting the case that accessories supplied by Apple for the 3G and Ipod touch dont fit the Iphone 4 with the case fitted. These include charging cables, USB cables and in car charger. Most of the problem products were purchased in an Apple Store in the UK. The problem is that the hole in the base of the bumper case is too small to accommodate the docking connector. Has anyone else had similar issues? Are we now going to have Apple recall the bumper cases or the accessories and replace them with ones which work?! Mac Mini, Mackbook, PC & Iphone iOS 4

iPhone 4 Car ChargerAux fits w Bumper Case

So Im looking for a new charger/aux connector for my iPhone 4 that fits the bumper case. I had a great one for my 3GS that I bought from Meritline for like $3 6 months ago. Still works great, but now with the bumper case it will not snap in. Any movement of the phone or car the cord will come out, but at least for now I can secure it on a blanket so it wont slide around or move and it usually wont fall out and will still play audio from my phone.Anyone know of one that will charge, play audio, and fit the bumper case? iPhone 4 iOS 4

Slowly having change of heart iPhone 4

Ok, Ive been an iphone fanatic since the I got my first 3g and never looked back. However now, with all the non-stop issues from apple, Im slowly beginning to feel like I should give android a try just to see if its any better. With every new phone apple releases its great hype about what it can do and blah blah blah, but lately the actual experience is very short of those hypes. 1. Battery life-Apple claims I can surf the web on wifi for up to TEN hours, but in reality, if I take my phone off the charger in the morning at 100%. If I leave wifi ON without doing any browsing whatsoever, Im bound to get a lousy 5 to maybe 6 hours of LIGHT usage. Because my battery just keeps on going down just for having wifi on. 2. HD Video-This is a big one as it was a selling factor to me. However HD videos are only useful if the color is accurate. Im sick and tired of YELLOW tinted videos indoors and over exposed (too much brightness) videos outdoors. Same goes for pictures. In fact for pictures using flash tend to create WASHED out images way more than well lit ones. On top of that, if you are lucky enough to be shooting a video where the color is just right (accurate) if the subject moves about 2 feet from the iphone4, the entire color scheme or shooting theme now changes to blue. The problem with that is it makes people with dark skin look even darker. My old 3GS still takes better pictures and videos than this HD crap. I wont even mention the barrel distortion of the front facing camera that makes me look like a cone head. 3. Proximity-While this has NOT happened much to me, when it does, its ****. Its the most frustrating thing to keep pressing buttons with your cheek, placing people on mute without knowing, and even hanging up on them. 4. Updates_Why should an update comes out and work for some while cause problems for many including me. I no longer appreciate these updates that fix XYZ, and at the same time creates ABC of new problems. After updating to 4.0.2, several times pressing the home button would not wake the phone up, and my battery life seemed like it was on a roller coaster. So I went back to 4.0.1 although I would prefer to go back to 4.0 but apple isnt signing that build any more. At the end, maybe android may have similar issues. Maybe not, I dont know. However considering my happiness level has been slowly decreasing with apple. Only time will tell if I make the switch. Apple should realize that the APP store can only do so much to keep us happy. My hope is 4.1 will fix all of the above, however, Im starting to not even believe apple cares that much any more. cypher red pill

iPhone 3G under iOS4.0 wont charge properly

Ive been experiencing a lot of issues after updating my 3G to iOS4.0 and I fully agree with the other topics reporting about draining batteries, inappropriate responsiveness of the touchscreen due to lacking memory, etc.Steve, that update has ruined my great iPhone 3G and the current situation is unsatisfactory! The way Im feeling now is quite comparable to the time I changed from my Windows Mobile 5.0 phone to the iPhone 3G - but now the other way around - all the great touch responsiveness has gone and the device feels so lame!The most annoying issue however is, that the phone wont charge properly anymore. Let me describe:So after having freshly booted I plug in my 3G with the original charger (same situation when I connect via USB to my PC) and my Phone starts charging. The battery gets warm/hot, the percentage starts increasing and I see the icon displayed in the top bar.However after I open some applications, do my mail, write some SMS etc. I noticed that my phone isnt actually charing any more?! Well the charger-icon up right is still displayed, the battery is still getting warm/hot, but my battery percentage is already decreasing! This even goes so far that it runs out of battery and turns itself off while its connected to the power-supply!Rebooting the phone makes it charge again - however only until you start reopening apps.Well my solution until now: Plug in your phone in and turn it off - that at least makes the phone charge properly but is very annoying! iPhone 3G iOS 4

Not happy with reception solutions iPhone 4

Just got my iphone 4... love it. It replaces my 3GS. I know about the antenna issue but thought it was only related to touching. Well in the base charger, with no touching, I get 2 bars where I used to get 3.5 - 4 bars with my 3GS. At home I get about 2 bars where I used to get mostly 4 bars. So I am guessing if I get to a weak area where my 3GS would have worked that this one will not. That is not good. It has me considering returning the Iphone and keeping the 3GS. Invisashield kiosk broke my phone iPhone 4

I did a retail swap at the apple store in stownstown mall at sanfrancisco and as soon as I left I have the invisashield booth my brand new phone 4 box to put a shield on it. They put it on and put it back in the box and I was on my way. 3 minutes later when I get to my car and open my phones box and touch my phone for the very first time I notice the screen has severe water damage all over it. I went right back to the invisashield place and showed them and told them how I haunt even touched the phone yet and how there the only ones who even laid a finger on it. And they denied denied. Denied everything!!!I go to the apple store and explain what just happened an they tell me they cant fix water damage so Im SOL! I even had the apple technitian come out and tell them its a water fanged phone. They still deny its thier fault.. When as soon as I left the store with the brand new phone they were the first ones to touch it and I wasnt even gone for 5 mins. This is all in a 20 minute period .Apple said the water damage indicators dent go off on the charger port or headphone jack. So how would water get on there???? They denied everything and now I am out 600 fillers becouse of some stupid little asain girl with an attitude got the water glue alll on my BRAND NEW IPHONE. Be warned!!! Iphone 4 iOS 4

Unexpected shut down via low battery not really low battery iPhone 3G

Running version 3.1.3, take a picture with the camera, open safari, open a picture in a email, etc. sometimes the phone just shuts down. Battery will be 90%-100%, however immediately shows a low battery and will turn off. Hook up to either a wall charger or via computer USB and the battery returns to 90%-100%. Hard resets, restore, etc. all have no effect. Sent the phone in for a Battery replacement to apple, they returned the phone with out replacing the battery and indicated that the battery was fine and they could not duplicate the problem. Brand new iPhone 4-not respond

I just received my new iPhone 4, but it does not respond when I connect to my computer. The screen stays blank and it does not show up in iTunes. Only when I connect it to the wall charger does it respond, but I have tried leaving it to charge for some time, but it still wont show up in iTunes nor does it respond when connected to my Macbook Pro. Have tried with different cables and to do a reset, but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions I could try before I take it back tomorrow?Thanks Thomas iPhone 4 iOS 4

Free bumper not working with car charger iPhone

This is great. My phone has bad reception so I get a free bumper. Now i have to take my bumper off every time i try to charge in the car because the hole is to small. I called apple and they said they are very sorry but thats life. I cant believe it. Has anyone else noticed this problem? I have the plain black bumper. Dont get it if your in the car a lot and charge in the car macbook iOS 4

my phone periodically dies when it wants iPhone 3G

hi i am having this strange and frustrating problem with my iphone 3G. When it feels like it (since 3 weeks ago), my phone just dies off and wont come back to life. the first time it died i really thought it was dead. It wont respond to pressing the sleep or home button in any way, fashion or form. what i normally do is hold sleep + home for minutes on end in hope it will come back. after a few days it would decide to resurrect itself, and then after a few more days it would decide to die off again. it has happened 6 times already and it has happened now. this was the longest i have had it not die off for a while (6 days). i have tried everything in google and other forums like charging it overnight for it to do a hard reset, trying to put in DFU mode, using wall charger instead, restart PC, this, that and the other. i tried to find the cause, but it dies off randomly. the first time i thought it was because i let the battery drain (because i did). but then it happened whilst browsing safari. the next time whilst charging and one time after i pressed lock. i think it has a brain of its own. anyone help? iPhone 3G iOS 4

Help wont turn on 3G os3.1.3 iPhone

Used it this morning & was fine. went to update apps & while it was doing that i got the low battery sign so i put it on the charger. Now it wont even power up. Ive left it on the charger, ive pushed the home & power off button & all i get is the dark screen with the apple insignia. it never gets past that. I also tried to sync it with my itunes & it doesnt recognize it either. im no longer in my one year support time & i just dont know what to do. im not that tech savvy. i also tried a while back to update my software to the OS4 before i knew of of all the problems it was causing with the 3G. does anyone out there have any suggestions for me? iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3

NEED DESPERATE HELP iPhone 3G

When ever i try to restore my iphone i get the 1604 error message...the iphone only turns on when connected to either a usb or wall charger... so i try restoring the iphone and it goes through the whole process and then when the iphone reboots i see the apple logo,then the computer makes the disconnecting sound then when i look at my iphone i see the apple logo and that little circle spinning thing for a second then the iphone turns off...so is there any way to fix this? like any programs that makes the iPhone not disconnect from the computer no matter what happens? iPhone wont recognize in computer and stuck on low battery screen 3G

When I plug my iPhone in to either my computer or the wall charger, it shows a battery with red and a lighting bolt symbol. I let it charge on the wall charger for over 24 hours and nothing changed. It does not recognize it in itunes or on my computer. When I unplug it, the screen goes black. And if I hold down the sleep/wake button, and the menu button the screen flashes white and then goes black. If i hold the sleep/wake button to turn it back on, it just goes back to the screen with the low battery symbol. I googled the issue, and found many people have had the same problem, but none of the recommended solutions worked for me. Please help! Dell inspiron 1525 Windows Vista

iphone 3g os4 automatically going into recovery mode

hey when i first upgraded to os4 i had no problemsi upgraded the day it came out, and as of 20/7 at random times my phone keeps switching itself off, and i have no access to anything, nothing even comes up on the screenthe only way ive found to fix this is to plug it into the computer and then my itunes automatically says its in recovery modeeven after restoring- both from backup and from factory settings, it keeps doing itthere has been no patter, for example:first time it happened after being on the charger (ac) for 5 minutessecond time i was sending a messageanother time i sent a message, locked the phone and then went to unlock again in around 2 minutes and it was goneany suggestions as to what i could do to improve it, ive been waiting to make a genius app, but i keep missing days when i can actually go in, and plus im not under warrenty anymore.arghhh iphone 3g/imac 10.5.8 iOS 4

odd behavior with world travel charging adapter 3g iPhone

I am going to Europe soon, and purchased the World Travel Adapter kit so I can charge my 3g iphone (software 4). I have tried it out here in the US, and I get some very strange behavior. I am baffled.When I plug the phone into the adapter, it seems to indicate that it is charging, but the image does not show progress like it does when i use the regular ac charger that came with the phone or with the USB connection to my computer. I can leave it for many hours and it does not show any increase in the charge. I figured the adapter was defective, so I returned it and got a replacement. Same thing happens with the new one.I accidentally stumbled on a fix...I let it charge for a couple hours and then if i reboot the phone, all of a sudden it reports being fully charged. This is nothing like the behavior I am used to with the stock US ac charger.Has anyone else had this problem, or noticed abnormal behavior like this, or am I the only one? Forgotten password iPhone 3G

My boss has had 3 I-Phones. He uses his latest 3G version but has some photos that he says he took that are still on his 2nd I-Phone and would like transferred. Problem is - he forgot his password. Weve tried holding down the front button and the power button at the same time without success. Its now sitting on his charger and once charged, wed like to try and do this. iPhone will not turn on AT ALL. Help please 3G

Woke up this morning and my iPhone was off, it was on the charger the whole night. I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. Tried to put it in DFU mode and nothing happened. Tried plugging it into my MacBook Pro and nothing happened. Tried to go into DFU mode while plug in with iTunes open and absolutely nothing happened. Im beyond frustrated. iphone only works on charger 3G

my iphone 3g will work when plugged in but when unplugged it goes to flashing back and forth between the apple screen and blank. The camera also wont work and just shows a closed shutter. My iPhone 3g had decided to longer charge. I took it to the Mac sote yesterday and the tech that assisted me tried a reset, as well as every cable he had in the store with nothing working.... except! A firewire charger. All of the info Ive read has said its bad to do that but the tech that assisted me had no issues with it. Whats the deal and what should I do? Left iphone in car in 100 degree weather now it wont power on 3G

OK I put the iphone 3g in my car for a friend to downgrade the OS later on but the temperature that day was around 100 degrees. Gave it to my friend to do the downgrade but he calls me later and says the phone will not power on unless its plugged in a charger. Does anyone know if I just need to replace the battery or am I out of luck on fixing this problem?

Iphone 3 g stopped syncing to my computer 3G

I purchased a new iphone 4 and now my wifes iphone 3g no longer syncs. When I would plug the iphone 3g into my computer, the computer no longer recognized that it is plugged into the USB it doesnt show up in itunes. It also did not show on the iphone battery icon that the phone was charging (although it still charges with the wall charger). I still have my old iphone 3g and it has no problems connecting to the itunes account and I have had not issues with my iphone 4. I tried all of the troubleshoot ticks eventually decided to go to the phone and in the general settings areas did the erase all content and settings reset option. Now the phone only shows the itunes logo with the USB cord and still is not recognized by my computer while my old iphone 3g and iphone are recognized. my iphone 3G suddenly wont turn off, and the usb port isnt working, hence its not showing up in itunes or iphoto anymore, and also wont take a charge. ive tried 3 different usb cables, restarted my computer, tried my wall charger, tried my car charger, all of which worked as of yesterday... is it doomed? or is it fixable? if i cant turn it off and cant recharge it, does that mean the battery life is done? the call time is only at 2 days lifetime. the phone is only 1.5 years old. imac Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I am having problem with my iphone 3gs. let me tell you the scenario, my iphone died, so i plugged in the charger and it started loading the battery, so i left, when i returned the iphone was off so put it on and the usual iphone apple logo showed as it usually does, and it shows for about 10-15 secs and then the screen turns black and nothing happens, so it means the iphone shut off. i then try to put it on again and the same thing happened. so i really want to know if there is a way i can fix this at home with out giving in my phone to customer service as i want to keep all my apps, contacts, pictures, settings, etc.Ps. i have tried the so called reset where you hold the home and power button, all that happened what that the screen flashed white for a second and then it returned to the same state. External Power Source Not Working on 3G with iOS4 iPhone

I have a Mophie external case/charger that no longer charges the iPhone 3G (iOS4 just installed).I also have an external power pack MMP5000 that no longer charges the iPhone 3G (iOS4 just installed too). I only used this to add up to 7 hours for long road or plane trips. Battery Indicator Weirdness Under iOS4 iPhone 3G

For the last year Ive been using a Belkin wall charger with 2 USB ports on it to charge both my wife and my iPhones (3G). The setup has worked great. I installed iOS4 on Monday night and it appeared to charge fine overnight after the install. Last night however it appears not to have charged since I woke up and it was still showing low battery, but the charge indicator (battery icon in the top right corner) showed it to be plugged in and fully charged (battery level was low, but the plug was shown.) I then took it to my MacBook Pro to sync and get a small charge before leaving for work and in under 5 minutes the battery now shows fully charged (battery level is at full in all indicators.) I think the iPhone actually did get charged last night but it didnt update the indicator for some reason and the sync found it to be fully charge and corrected the indicator. I dont know for sure that this is what happened until I use it and not have it die on me, but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this issue. battery drain related to car charger iPhone

Having regularly used my iPhone since July, I wanted longer battery power for a long (three weeks) car trip. About a month ago I purchased a Griffin car/wall charger at the Apple Store to provide extra juice for iPod mode, noting several others reporting poor results online.After about half the storage capacity is drained, the iPhone may 1) shut off 2) reset by itself. I use the car charger to charge completely before using again, and 1 and 2 may still occur within a few minutes. I am driving a 2007 camry hybrid and sometimes forget to unplug the phone from the charger when I turn the car off, but dont leave it for any length of time (realizing when I turn the car off, I need to take the phone with me...).Since returning home, and using the car charger just before arriving, the iPhone appears to be draining within 7 or 8 hours, even when I have connected it to its home dock, connected to the wall outlet. The iPhone used to last a couple of days, other than when in iPod mode. I havent changed my settings or habits of use, and I have reset it. Will this go away? My husband had had some similar draining problems with his Razr during this trip: finally he took the battery out and cleaned it and popped it back in, probably effectively resetting (I had suggested this). Then after a couple of days (and ineffective searching for a replacement battery), it started taking up the charge and holding it again.It seems that there are a variety of possibilities (playing Pearl Jam concerts not one of them) but similar remedies. Im not even sure whether the unique qualities of the hybrid system added another issue for the iPhone, but my husband didnt use his car charger at all.I read many forum discussions and noticed folks had trouble with travel issues, including car chargers and hotel outlets. iPhone 3G will not charge stuck on lightning bolt low battery screen

Hello,Yesterday I used my iPhone all day, like normal, until the battery got so low that it died at maybe 10pm. I plugged it into the charger that night, but this morning, all thats on the screen is a big empty battery with a sliver of red and a lightning bolt. If I unplug the charger, it shows an electrical cord + a lightning bolt for about 5 seconds, then it turns off. Ive tried multiple cables and multiple power sources (charger, pc), but it will not change.I was able to get the phone into DFU mode, and I restored it via iTunes normally, but when it rebooted and said wait for the iphone to show up in itunes to set it up, it just went back to the battery screen and never showed up in iTunes.Any ideas? iPhone 3G 8GB 3.1.3 Windows 7

IPhone 3g reboots

Hello All,I have a IPhone 3g and from the last few weeks it is powering off when i click on an APP or Youtube or on Safari. I tried to restore it to original factory settings few times but the problem is not solved. This happens when the battery is in full charge. I tried with power on to the iphone (either connecting usb to computer or thru wall charger) then it will not reboot. HELP IPhone has died 3G

O NO!!! My phone wont turn on.Yesterday, my phone wouldnt charge to 100% when I tried charging it in my car or off of a laptop. It was also freezing often, but it does that a lot so I didnt give it much thought. I was able to charge it to 100% before I went to bed after using the AC adapter. I did not leave it charging overnight because there was a bad storm overnight.This morning it was at 80% when I woke up, I tried charging it through a car charger. It turned off on its on. When I reached my location the battery had reduced from 80% to 20%, without me using it. I made one short call (less than 5 mins) and it reduced to 9%. Since that time I have been trying to charge it by my PC tower, and the AC adapter. But neither is bringing it back to life. This is a Sunday. I am taking it to either the AT&T store, or the Apple store in the morning. Please help! I am going through withdrawl... iPhone OS 3.1.3

Charging Issues iPhone 3G

My iPhone will no longer charge via 3rd party chargers (docking station, car charger) which I have read may be a firewire change. But, I recently ordered a new usb connector from Apple and that wont work either. The only thing that workd is the usb that came with the phone, but even then it is only when the cord is moved around and played with. I have a water damaged iPhone 3GS, the red indicater is red where you would plug the charger into. I have tried drying it out with a hairdryer, left it in rice, etc but with no luck. Has anyone had any success with bring one back to life?If not, are there any other options? I read that Apple will sell a replacement at a reduced cost? iPhone 3GS iPhone OS 3.1.3

Battery not functioning correctly iPhone 3G

My battery on my iphone wont hold a charge. As soon as I disconnected it from the charger it decreases rapidly. It gets extremely hot as well. It also takes hours to charge. I took it to apple and they gave me a new iphone (refurbished) and after I synced it the same problems started. I took it back and they said it was a software issue and to sync it as a new iphone. Same problems. Does anyone know what this means and what I can do? I am at the end of my rope!! If you could help I would really appreciate it. Thanks. XP iPhone OS 3.1.3

I phone not recognized by computer iPhone 3G

My iphone charges in car and on charger, but when I connect it to the computer it is not recognized at all. I have reset my phone, uninstalled my itunes and reinstalled it, updated all software, tried every cord in the house, tried new and old mac and nothing works. Help. iPhone OS 3.1.2

Loop of Black Screen and apple Logo on an iPhone 3G

Since yesterday that I can only use my iPhone when it is connected to a power supply, be it the wall charger or any USB port. When I disconnect it from the power supply after some seconds the screen goes black. It seems like a loop starts, black screen for 10sec followed by the Apple logo for 5sec. It reacts to no button (volume up, volume down, sleep button, silence button or the main button). The only way to take him out of this coma is by plugging it again to a power supply. When it is in coma it is not available for incoming calls as well.When I connect the phone to the power supply it comes back to life showing the Shutdown menu, if I cancel this then it is ready to go, as long as it remains connected to the power source.When it is connected to the power source all buttons work ok except the sleep button, nothing happens when I press this one!I have restarted the phone using the Shutdown menu that appears when I connect it to a power source, problem not solved;I have restarted the phone by reseting the network settings, problem not solved;I have restored the phone from iTunes, problem not solved;I have no clue on how to solve this!Can anyone help ? iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3

3G phone will not charge on an Edge connection. iPhone

My phone doesnt seem to want to charge when its on the AT&T EDGE service. Doesnt matter if its USB, wall, or car charger. The charging icon will light up, but it seems that anytime data is sent to or from the phone on the the Edge system it shuts charging off and the charging icon turns off.. Once the data transmission is complete the charging starts back up again complete with the icon. I can watch it flash on and off.As a result, Im constantly hearing that charging bleep every few seconds, or if I turn off the speaker, its always doing that double vibration thing. It will slowly get a full charge this way, but its very annoying.I doesnt do this when I have 3G activated, only on the Edge. Its always done this, but Ive mostly ignored it since I was alway on the 3G network. I recently moved to a new office though with a dismal 3G exposure so Ive recently taken to turning off the 3G network during the day and so have only really now begun to truly notice how annoying it is.Is this normal behavior for the phone? or is it something I should have looked at?Thanks. 2nd Gen. iPhone losing battery FAST

My 2nd Generation iPhone has worked fine since purchased nearly 2-years ago, but all of the sudden it is now losing battery power FAST with normal daily use.Any thoughts, suggestions, advise? Id like to be able to wait until the 4th Gen. is out before replacing but the way I am losing power, I would have to keep a charger with me at all times between now and then. My iphone is with white screen and several blue lines, except that, nothing I can see. I can use it to answer phones without seeing anything.I try to press the turn on/off button and home button together for a while, but it doesnt work.Im D31821583. Actually, I made the wrong communication. And Apple sends me a dock... My charger works well, but my screen of iphone is broken. I cannot see anything on my screen except white and several blue lines, I can use the phone to call and answer without seeing anything. In fact, my screen is broken, not my charger.
