Need help with my email iPhone 3G

Just upgraded to the 3g and Im currently trying to set up my Gmail account on the phone. It will not let me and when I click on the email icon the only thing that shows is the inbox colum. it will try to get my emails for about a minute and then a message saying connection to the server imap.gmail.com failed. Could anyone help me understand how i can fix this? Dell Iphone 8GB, Ipod Nano (2nd gen.)

Why my phone say Call failed when dialing number iPhone 3G

Ok, Im using 2.2 software version on my iPhone 3G. Its not unlocked or anything. The problem started last night, when I tried to call someone in my contact list. Ill dial the number and it automatically goes to Call failed, it doesnt dial or even attempt to. I can sends text messages, receive phone calls, and get online. Just cant make phone calls.Heres what I did to try to fix it.First I cut the phone off and powered back on. Then tried a soft reset by holding the home button and power button down. After that didnt work I restored it to factory settings, which didnt work. Then I restored from a backup, but it didnt work either. Ive tried everything people have said on the internet, that doesnt require unlocking the phone.Please help!!!!**edit** - Ive also removed the SIM and restored to factory settings. poor service iPhone 3G

I would like to say that i was quite unhappy with the customer care. I have been an Apple customer for years, and as a teacher I fitted out my previous school with apple computers and currently trying to do the same at my current school. On of the points i use when convincing admin to purchase apple equipment is due to the good customer care I have received in the past, however no this no longer seems to be the case. My Iphone has a crack on the screen that has been there almost since new and it has not caused any problems. Now 6 months later i am having what I believe to be an unrelated fault I am being told that I am no longer covered by any warranty. I explained to the service people that there was no previous faults that may be related to the crack, but was told that they only have my word for that and that my word was not good enough. I understand that you must have policies in place but I am a long term supporter of your product and very disappointed. As admin staff know of my phone (I use it for much business use at school) and i return to school in a few weeks saying that it failed and apple would not cover it under their warranty, my standing argument for apple due to your quality of care will be useless.

Dropping Calls iPhone 3G

This problem just started yesterday morning. I am unable to make or receive phone calls on the AT&T network. When receiving a call, the phone says I have full signal. When I try to answer the call, the signal bars fall to nothing and then it searches for the network. This happens on both the Edge and 3G areas. When making a call, once again the phone is telling me I have full signal, then it drops to nothing. The call is failed, then searches for the network.I am able to text message, the data is not working. I have restarted, reset, removed the sim card. Im out of ideas. Just a side note, while on GPS in 3G areas, my current location is telling me I am in Cleveland. The problem with that is I live in Delaware. I am not sure if these are related problems.Does anyone have a clue what the heck is going on with this thing. I really dont want to replace it again, this being my second iPhone. after my battery ran out yesterday afternoon, ive only got to recharging my iphone at 11pm tonight.now I cant make any call whatsoever (my sim still work in other phones)I also tried changing the time zone, turn off set automatically, restored the phone several times and reset all the settings, with no results.Please help, thanks in advance.

Battery Issue iPhone 3G

I have had an iPhone 3G for a month and a half and I am having a very strange issue with it. The battery for the last 2 charges has gone done all the way, till I see the charge screen, but when I plug it in (and let wait for it to power on), the battery meter says it is is half full. iPhone stopped working

Hi,I got a 3G on Christmas morning. It worked all day Christmas day on my wifi network. Boxing day, it stopped working entirely, and in fact failed to even see my network completely. Pleae note at this point, all my other wireless devices were working perfectly. iPhone wont sync.

Every time I try to sync my iPhone 3G to iTunes it displays a message pop up saying Attempting to copy the disk ____ ____s iPhone failed. The disk could not be read or written to. then after i click ok, another one pops up saying The iPhone ____ ___s iPhone canot be synced. The disk could not be read or written to.Ive restored my phone about 2 times, and reinstalled iTunes, but nothing seems to fix it.Anyone have any advice? Windows XP

My iPhone, which I have had for less than a month, has been popping up a Call failed error every other phone call. Normally I would blame AT&T for poor coverage but it drops calls when it is on speakerphone sitting on the nightstand, well it happens enough to irritate me but not enough cry over, so moving on. Im trying to update to 2.2 using itunes 8. Downloaded the software and it started installing and has been running for about 30 minutes. iPhone no longer shows in itunes though its still connected with USB. The device indicates that I can make an emergency call only. There is no indication of progress on the phone or in itunes. Has the install failed? How long does this take? Just recently, and for no reason my iphone 3g cannot make or take any calls. When I call someone they will get the call, but if they answer or it goes to voicemail, the signal drops and I get a call failed, and when I get a call, answer it, the signal drops and I get a call failed. Ive tried a hard reset, backup restore, and and a full restore to original settings. Nothing has worked, I even reseated the SIM card hoping this would help the problem but nothing has worked.I can however send and receive text messages...email, use net, all other features, its just the phone that is messed up. Anyone else have this issue? Is the SIM card hosed? or is it the phone?Im gonna take it into the Apple store this coming Sunday or Monday to see if they can resolve the problem. I have a first gen iPhone (8gb) and was updating it to 2.2 when iTunes gave me an error message. So my iPhone disappeared from the side bar but my iPhone still was trying to update so i left it for a few hours and when I came back the iPhone was still at the same place. Yesterday I tried to call my friend and while it was calling the Edge icon and AT&T icon goes away and I get a call failed. Calls Failing iPhone

I got my Iphone 3G about 4 or 5 months ago. Ive never had problems with it ever until just recently. About 3 days ago i was calling my mom to pick me up from high school but it was saying call failed i didnt anything of it other than my mom was on her phone. But then about 5 min later my dad was calling me and i slit the answer button over but it said call failed. This happend about 5 or 6 times. For the last day or two I have not been able to make an outbound call. Every time I try to call someone, it immediately says call end and shows me a Call failed sign. All of the sudden today, I can not make outgoing phone calls on my iPhone. Incoming calls work fine, synching is fine, all applications work fine. My wifes iPhone works fine, so the cell towers are working. No matter what person I try to call, the call fails. I have reseated the SIM card and rebooted the phone several times. I have the following problem, my iphone is running fw 2.02 and vpn to my cisco router is fine. I upgraded to 2.1 and the vpn connection failed and never came up, so i had to go back to 2.0.2Now that 2.2 is out i tried my vpn settings in a friends iphone running 2.2 and still the vpn connection will not work.... is there a bug in the fw as all is fine with 2.02.I am using a cisco router 2800 series and fw 2.0.2 on my iphone 3g Windows XP Pro

This just started about an hour ago. When I dial out, it immediately goes to call fail, even though I have full signal strength. If someone tries calling me, it goes straight to my voicemail, occasionally my phone will ring, when I click accept call, it says call Fail.So far I have:1. Reset Network Settings2. iPhone 3G-RESTORE Mode goes on and off from v1.0 until 2.2

Hey guys, brief history of my iPhone. I bought it and it worked perfectly for about 1 month. Then the first updates were released and I installed the new firmware, ever since then at random times the iPhone will just drop into Restore mode. Ill be in school check the time, and 5 seconds later it hits restore mode. It would sit in restore mode for 3 days, then randomly return back to normal. For example since the 2.2 update, it has gone into restore mode 4 times, and I have had to restore twice, and I get about 100 error messages before it FINALLY restores, and lets my phone work for about ONE day.Ontop of ALL of these problems, when the phone works for about 5 hours, and sits in restore mode for 3 days, before it finally decides to restore, when it DOES work, the internet doesnt work unless its on WLAN. Ontop of these TWO MAJOR issues, I had a perfect screen on 2.1, then I updated to 2.2, and since then I have had a random green dead pixel appear. Honestly, all these firmware updates are bricking a HUGE amount of iPhones, whats the problem? Everyone is posting of going into restore mode, and not being able to restore. To be honest, this is the most troublesome phone Ive ever owned =.=So, does anyone have any idea to FIX THIS PERMANENTLY? Im tired of restoring, its been atleast 10 times with about 300 failed attempts. It barely ever works and when it does theres other problems ontop of it all.How can I fix this? Hiya gangI tried to update my firmware last night, all was going well, and itunes failed to update the device.I am now stuck with a screen showing a USB cable pointing to itunes.Ive tried holding the home button, to reset the device, and itunes recognises it so it can restore. Replacement Rogers has failed me. iPhone 3G

Hey, So Ive been having severe problems with receiving calls and constant network dropouts for a good two weeks now. I have had the phone since july 11th and have been extremely happy with it. I have called Rogers tech support around 9 times, paid 99dollars for AML Service they are refusing to replace my phone and constantly tell me to try airplane mode, reset network settings, hard reset and turn the phone on and off. None of this has worked. I have even tried doing an entire restore, nothing is working. I live a good hour from the closest Apple Store and Im wondering if this is even worth the drive. IPHONE DIGITIZER FAILURE AND APPLE WONT REPLACE failed HARDWARE

Alright so about a week ago, the digitizer failed on my iphone, just about half inch of the screen is unrepsonive, i have a current warrety, and the tech support said, yep we will fix that. Ok so i get my box and mail it, a day later, boom apple sends me a message going oh this hardware faile is miss use, or accidental damange! Granted the iphone has its blemishes from normal usage, but come on! My phone is under warrnty! And sure as **** apple is becoming as bad as DELL for miss leading the customer and not SUPPORTING THEIR PRODUCT WHEN IT FAILS UNDER WARRENTY!!!!!!! SOMETHING REALLY STRANGE IS HAPPENING.. i had the original iphone synced with my imac at a 2nd home..i now have a 3G and tried to syncwith the 2nd Imac.....this is what is happening:I TRIED TO SYNC & MERGE MY IPHONE DATA TO MY ADDITIONAL MAC...THINGS MERGED, BUT THE CONTACTS ..IT SAYS TO MANY CONFLICTS..I TRIED TO RESOLVE , I ELIMINATED OR MERGED THE CONFLICTS..NO DICE, BUT I NEVER LOST MY NOTES..WHICH I REALLY WAS EXPECTING TO LOSE.. i do know a sync happened b/c the photos in the phone transfered.I KEEP TRYING TO SYNC AND IT SAYS CONTACT SYNC failed. How to delete all contacts on iPhone 3G

Ive searched, but failed to find a civilised way of deleting ALL the contacts on the iPhone without having to reorganise the whole world in the process. You know, like Select all - delete type of action. Missing Safari icon iPhone 3G

Without any Restrictions password entry on my part, the Safari icon just disappeared. There 1 day, gone the next. I do NOT know the password being asked. I have seen that after 10 failed attempts it will supposedly re-set -- it doesnt. I also tried restore to iPhone original settings. No help. Restore from my Mac backup/sync -- all to no avail. I have no web browsing capacity. How do I resent the Restrictions password so I can get back my Safari and web browsing on my 3G iPhone? Or is there some other way? iPhone2G Wont MakeReceive Calls

I have a 2G iPhone from July 2007 with the latest OS. This evening the phone stopped making or receiving calls. There has been no change to the phone (havent installed apps or syncd or anything) and it worked this morning.If I call out, it hangs saying, Calling... for about 60 seconds, and then Call failed. If people call me they get my voicemail. Oddly, I can check my voicemails, send SMS, browse the web, etc. Ive tried dialing indoors and outdoors and across town.When I dial near a stereo, I can hear the usual interference-noise it makes when dialing, but nothing happens.Anyone having this problem??? I tried rebooting, syncing, etc, and nothing changes it. thanks! 2G

else annoyed by seriously slow interface not internet iPhone

Ive had an iphone since it first came out, and ever since version 2.0 came out, its been really hard to deal with some of the amazingly slow interface problems it has now. I got the 3g about a month after it first came out, so Im using that one now.My problem is that nearly every application takes at least 5 seconds to load. + or - about 2 seconds, sometimes up to 10. Thats a really really long time for an application to boot up. It even does that on the phone and text message applications. Even worse is the time it takes to load up the search bar on apps google maps or youtube. Once Ive already waited 5 seconds for it to load up, I press the search and have to wait ANOTHER 5 seconds for the keyboard to load up. Even better is Im not sure I actually pressed it right so sometimes Ill press it again and then the bookmarks will come up when it finally loads....blah. Not to mention even more lag as I try to type. Ive tested some of my friends iphones and theyre about as slow as mine, maybe a little faster, but still slow enough to be a pain. Anyone else having problems like this? Or does it just not bother you?Ive messed with my friends blackberry phones and I feel like the turtle on those comcast commercials. I press facebook and its right there...immediately...and I freak out. I show anyone my iphone now and they lose interest before it loads!Also, any pointers to speed it up? I know I have a couple pages of applications, so Im sure if I deleted every app it may go a lot faster, but that doesnt sound like a good solution. Im also wondering why its going so slow in the first place. Back in the days of 1.x I had no trouble loading stuff up. Now Im embarassed to try to show people things on my phone because I press the application and have to practically start another conversation before I can show what I want to show.Well theres my rant, I hope 2.2 does a lot of optimizations, because thats the only gripe I have about my phone right now, I can live with some things not existing.

iPhone looses contact with Mac while in synch 3G

I am affraid to have to bring my iPhone to the store this weekend but maybe someone can shed some light on this problem:first, I received some errormessages when trying to update. The update failed with errormessage 2005, then errormessage 21 and then errormessage 9. On this and other forums I found the solution to update with the newest firmware and not by choosing the alt-key and pick the firmware I already downloaded and saved for emergency. Finally the update went through after some hours behind the computer, but then when trying to synch my mobile applications I noticed that the Mac lost the connection with the iPhone. It just dissapears from the devices list.I have to plug out and in the usb cable to have the connection again; but after a few minutes, the connection between iTunes and the iPhone is lost again. I fear this is not really a software failure but more hardware. Has anyone had the error before? iPod 2G 32GB Other OS iPhone 3G 8GB
