my iPhone 4 Genuinely NEW or Refurbished Please HELP

#I just received my BRAND NEW, SEALED, iPhone4 32 GB FACTORY UNLOCKED which I bought from Ebay. After unboxing, I switched on the phone to find that it was already activated, and did NOT show the "Connect to iTunes" screen, which gave me doubts whether this phone is actually brand new, the phone does have that protective film on the front and back which normally comes with brand new iPhones, anyhow I went online and did some intense research and found interesting facts about the serial number, and from my understanding the phones with serial numbers starting with 5K could be a refurbished phone, and indeed my supposedly BRAND NEW iPhone which came in a sealed retail box with all accessories does have a 5K serial number, so I did some more googling and came across a web site which gives details about an iPhone with its serial number and it shows this phone is a refurbished one. I checked on Apple website for warranty and it says "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contactus."  #Now all you good knowledgeable people out there, please please shed some light on this matter.Is this really a genuine brand new phone? When I contacted the seller regarding     the phone being already activated, he said it is normal with phones     which are factory unlocked. But I believe it is actually supposed to     show  - “Connect to iTunes” screen. That was how it was with my     iPhone 3G. At least right out of a brand new box. Am I correct? How can a refurbished iPhone come in a     sealed retail box? Even if that was the case, would it cost the same     as a normal brand new FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone because I paid US $     904.00 for this. Does Apple sell refurbished iPhones as     new? What confuse me is that the box have all the labels intact as     it was a sealed box, and the serial number and IMEI number match     with the actual phone. Should I consider this a genuine     product that Apple meant to sell as it is or better I go for a claim     and either get a refund or replacement from the seller on Ebay?.   Thank you very much in advance for all your kind help and insights. YouTube not available iPhone 3G

Take your time to write a thoughtful comment on a video, hit send, and it's gone, "youtube is not available". It happens frequently on the iphone app yet never happens on the desktop site. This bug has followed the youtube app across multiple phones (OG & 3G), multiple OS updates, and still happens randomly. Not having a feature is better than one that frequently doesn't work, and frustrates, as well as wastes your time...I'm so ready to checkout the latest from HTC  I copied this question from an archived thread from 2009. I'm having the same issue. I comment on YouTube a couple of times and it's fine, the third time it completely blocks me. It's very frustrating. Looking at the replies from 4 years ago it seems that its definitely the app that has the issue, not the main website. Something to do with capture was the solution last time. Why do I have this issue now, does anyone else have this problem?iPad 3' iphone4sPlease sort it out, it's getting hard to defend iPhone these days!

iPhone iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred-1 . iPhone 4S

I have been trying to update my iPhone's software for the past few weeks due to my current provider not being found. (A bar that says "Searching" is always at the top where my 3G should be.) Yet whenever I try directly from my iPhone, it always end with an error message. So, yesterday I tried updating directly from itunes and I let it download the new update and all that. However, after it finished trying to update my iPhone, it put my iPhone in a recovery mode and I've been trying to fix it eversince. I can not access my iPhone, all it has is an icon saying to connect to itunes. I've tried troubleshooting, checking my software, updating my computer etc. yet it still leaves me with this message: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)." I've looked on the apple site and I've made sure my security is up to date, my computer is up to date, my itunes is up to date and that I have restarted my computer. I am very irritated and I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do because my warranty is over with apple and I still have a few years on my contract. This problem has become relatively frequent with the replacement I've received from apple.  Please post all suggestions or ideas to help with my problem, Thank you for your time. -Applefanatic23

phone in recovery mode but cannot restore with error code 21 26 iPhone 4S

After my latest update on my iPhone 4 my phone started just shutting down and restarting by itself. I have tried to restore the phone with the latest version of iTunes but now get the error message that iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode. Well that's fine, I selected recovery and when it appears that the recovery mode is going to go through the recovery mode returns an error code. The first code I received is the error 1656, then a 26, then the final attempt I got an error code 21. This phone has never been dropped, mishandled, or taken any physical damage. It was working great before I attempted to update. Please if anyone else has experienced this let me know how you resolved these errors. I have attempted every trouble-shooting step indicated on the Apple support site. HELP!

how I fix audio problems on my iPhone 4s

I was given a iPhone 4s, my sister got another phone and I had an iPhone 3Gs. She failed to tell me the audio was giving her trouble... The phone rings and my alarms go off but when I'm on apps and playing music I can't hear anything... What can I do to fix it? I've tried restoring, restarting and resetting my phone and they haven't fixed the problem... This site I saw stated that when all else fails jailbreak your phone but I'm not sure what that will do to my phone. What else can I do? 

iPhone apps not opening-have tried all usual fixes

A few days ago I got my iPhone unlocked from my provider (Telstra) as I am about to travel and wanted to put a country specific sim in it. Since then no non-Apple apps have worked.I have tried (many times) to :- 1. restore from a previous backup (plus multiple syncs) and using different backups2. delete an app and reinstall it3. download a new free app (and when that didn't work I deleted it and retried installing it)4. sign in and out of the app store on the iphone5. sign in and out of the app store on my iMac6. de-authorise and re-authorise my iMac7. wipe the iPhone clean and start with a fresh install8. And reset the device too many times. Nothing I have found on any site has worked. I thought the wipe the phone clean would have done it but it hasn't.I have wasted about 20 hours trying to get this thing working again. If I wasn't going on vacation tomorrow I would be at my provider getting them to fix their mess but I can't. Can anyone help? I had never faced any need for warranty repairs or any such thing previously.  My luck with the Iphone 5 was not the same. Just 5 Months and my Sleep/Wake button just refuses to work. But the Horror was when i reached the Zain Telecom store in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I was told by them that Apple has refused to take Any Iphone exibiting Scuffing or Scratches as this renders the iphone out of warranty. It just Dosnt make any Sense when Senior Apple SVP for Marketting Phill Schiller Him self on 25 Septeber 2012 in an email to an apple user have acknowledged that this kind of scuffing is natural to any aluminium product. I would like some one from Apple to Respond to this issue of mine and give me a solution. The worst part is there no authorised service in the country. If this dosnt turns out well then my next phone shall not be an apple until apple has a bigger foothold in saudi arabia. Thanks & RegardsAsim 

Using UK purchased Unlocked iPhone 5 in Germany

I am about to buy an unlocked iPhone 5 direct from Apple here in the UK, which will be pay-as-you-go, and I want to know if I can use a service provider here in the UK for most of the time, but when I travel to Germany (about twice a month) will I be able to swap out the UK SIM and insert a comparable one whilst in Germany, then swap back when I return home?  As far as I can tell from Apple's web site info: (http://store.apple.com/uk/buy/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone5) "...About the unlocked iPhone.Unlocked iPhone isn't tied to one network, so you have the freedom to choose any supported GSM network worldwide. My @me.com account was compromised this morning and im trying to reset my password. Ive been trying the link on this site and entering my apple id but keeps telling me the session has timed out. to cut a long story short. I was interested in an i-phone... got the details..checked them all.. on the phone and with the provider, VODAPHONE... told unlocked, not stolen etc etc. proceeded to buy the phone...new sim topped up £10 only to find it wouldn't work...  Went into vodaphone store..been running around following thier advice..(they said I need a friend who is a customer on vodaphone to get passed the unlocking with a vodaphone code.. and they would do it for free given the circumstances...so i run errands go back and forth doing as they asked...got nowhere) SO IT IS NOW A MONTH LATER..and after complaining and complaining to thier email site and repeatedly asking for help in store..I am stumped as what to do and just have a glorified ipod. I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO REMAIN ON THE VODAPHONE NETWORK given the situation they have put me in and thier unwillingness to help so i refuse to use the phone with vodaphone... BUT WHAT can i do PLEASEEEEEEE? all they keep on suggesting is that I get the original owners details but he is not answering anything...and the phone is not registered as stolen etc so what is the problem!? As you can imagine I am really peeved by the whole thing as I actually carried out all the necessary checks, and whilst the phone was not bought directly from vodaphone, I went to them as the provider, to find otu about unlocking etc as it is always advised to do so..and it was them that gave me the wrong information but they still will not resolve the issue. I have even sent them phone records to confirm when I rung and the name of the invalid who told me the phone was unlocked in the first place. I really would much appreciate any help as they are ignoring  my emails now.

How do I go about getting my iPhone 5 screen fixed? If I take it into an Apple store, will they fix it on site? If so, about how much? I bought the phone last October, but I know the warranty would not cover this any ways... so, now I am just not sure how to go about fixing this.

iPhone 5 eBay and certain websites won't work unless on WiFi.

As the subject says, my iPhone 5 software 6.1.3 has been acting weird, beyond a constant battery drain, recently I have noticed that my eBay app will not work/connect unless I am on WiFi.  It's also the same for some websites on Safari, one being www.tfw2005.com (a transformers fan site I always go to).  I just noticed this the other day.  I've tried resetting my networking settings, hard-reset, deleting the app and reinstalling and nothing.  I'm not sure why it would single out that one website either.  I get the N1 error can't connect after trying to use the eBay app and TFW site.  Any suggestions?

Cannot Restore Corrupt Backup after upgrading to 6.1.3 iPhone 4S

My wife needed to make space on her Iphone because of the many videos she had on it. When she plugged the phone into our iMac, running 10.8.3, and connected to iPhoto to transfer the videos over the upload started as it normally does. However, during the middle of the transfer iTunes interupted and INFORMED my wife that the phone was now upgrading to the newest software version (6.1.3)being as we usually keep our phones up to date with upgrades anyways we didnt think much of it. Unfortunately during this process the software update failed and the phone crashed. We were left with two options "restore from backup" or "restore iPhone." We tried several times to restore from the backup and we received the same error message every time "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or incompatable with the Iphone that is being restored." I went into my library and checked out my backups folder and I saw that there were two new backups there for my Wife's phone. One time stamped at the exact time the phone crashed and one from the last time I tried to restore(after the phone crashed). We finally decided that there must have been a glich with the softwarre download, since it didn't complete, so we decided to "Restore Iphone" hoping that a corrected software would then allow us to restore from the backup properly. So the phone was wiped and reset with the new software, and we still cannot access the backup that we need. Though it is extremely frustrating that the videos of our toddler are gone, it is very important that we somehow find a way to access the information in the non corrupt backup files, her address and phone books as well as past text messages and calendars. I went to a site called iphonerecoveryonline and followed their protocol and I was able to see that all of the aboved mentioned information is still in those backups, but I have no way, with out paying these people $20 per file, to return that info to her phone. I would rather not have to pay to recover this info, but I guess that may be my only option? Any advice, experience or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Searching No Signal iPhone 4

I am having a searching/ no signal error on my Iphone4. I havent been able to get service for three days.  I have done everything I can read about on this site. I have turned airplane mode on and off multiple times. I have restarted my phone multiple times. I have done a hard reset on my phone (by holding screen lock and home button) multiple times. I have reset network settings multiple times. I have reset all settings multiple times. I have completely restored my phone multiple times turning location services both on and off during reboot. I have turned 3g on and off. I have taken my case off. I have put another sim card from my friends Iphone and it does the same thing. I have also put my sim card in my friends phone and it worked fine. That tells me it isnt a sim card problem. I contacted Att and they told me it was an Apple hardware/software problem. Does any one have any way I can resolve this issue. Please Help meeeee!! Everything else in my phone works, and I would rather not have to buy a new phone. Thank You!!

I just started to get a SIM Failure Pop up on my iphone 5on Thursday while traveling and using Maps fornavigation. Getting error-1 while restoring to iOS 6.1.2. iPhone 5

I just want to make clear I did following, I follow all articles regarding error (-1) in apple support.Updated itunes, Turn off windows firewall, Paused my antivirus, Checked host file,itunes diagnostic test,LAN connections, andTried whole process in 2 different Windows 7 pc. Restore process:Before I update to the new iOS 6.1.2, I tried using my wifi connection and it's pretty slow and not able to do it, so I downloaded iOS 6.1.2.After connect my iphone 5 to my pc, I put it on DFU mode by pressing home and power button together and it appears in recovery mode. I already downloaded iOS 6.1.2, so just holding Shift key and Browse iOS 6.1.2 start restoring my iphone 5. But at the very end it shows error (-1) and interrupt and my iphone again shows iTunes logo. Now I can't go out of DFU mode or update to the latest iOS. It's a brand new phone. It just showing itunes logo. Optimum.net satates as a customer i can watch certain channels on my iphone 5. when i tried to use optimum.net/tvtogo, my iphone said i needed to install  adobe flash player. i tried and the site on the net said it could not show content because i didn't have adobe flash player. makes a lot of sense, i can't view tv shows without adobe and i can't view instructions to download the program because it requires adobe flash player. The only available app in itunes states it is not adobe flash player.

Hi there, I've noticed when surfing using Safari on my iPhone 4 the URL/Page jumps to an unwanted URL, usually a site offering video services, medial treatments or cut price electricals! I'm sure you can use your imagination.  I'm pretty sure the malware was distributed via a shared folder/file in dropbox. I've removed the offending file/folder however I am still getting the issue with Safari. How would you recommend removing this issue? I have updated the iOS of my phone and looking into anti virus software but nothing seems to do the job? Many thanks in advance and please let's not turn this into a discussion about can iOS or Mac OS get viruses, I want to solve an issue not start a heated debate. Cheers

It wants my Apple ID and password. I put them in (the same ones I used to log onto this apple support site and my iTunes account). But it says they aren't right. So here's my question. My daughter set up my game center account. Is it possible the Apple ID and password Game Center is looking for could be different? When I tried to retreive my password from Game Center, it said I had to create a whole new password (i.e., it wouldn't let me use my same old password). So, I have this free game app - Draw Something (Free) on my iPhone 5. I've been playing it no problem for several weeks. However, recently, in the last 3-5 days, while playing, Safari will randomly open and try to redirect me here: http://tags.bluekai.com/site/13583?ret=html&phint=id.... The URL is very long but it mentions the following words in the URL: applewebdata, Mozilla;Netscape;5.0, iPhone like Mac OS AppleWebkit like Gecko Mobile undefined, iPhone undefined,  Mozilla/5.0 iPhone CPU, iPhone OS like Mac OX AppleWebkit HTML like Gecko Mobile. There's some HTML encoding - en-us;ISO-8859And near the end of the url, it mentions a Quicktime Plugin and links to the Apple Quicktime page. It's extremely annoying and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, but it's still happening. I don't even know if it pertains to just this app, but so far it's the only one that does it. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Vodafone Italy 4G will work ONLY with iOS 6.1 update iPhone 5

Soooooo, after driving myself crazy with Vodafone italy and their 4G network, i finally have answers that i'd like to share. 1) you must "activate" 4G service, either online (through "190y" on their site) or directly from them (the store, or what i did, they have a live chat feature on their site). 2) you have to wait to receive a text msg saying it has been activated. 3) wait until iOS 6.1 is released (end of the month).  I have a factory unlocked iPhone 5 that i bought in italy and have traveled to the states with recently. as soon as i landed i had 4G service, without any modifications or updates or doing anything. i told voda all of this, and after 3 days, i got some answers. after doing some research, basically the new update with allow the 5 to use vodafones frequency. bam. there you have it. no 4G until the update. oh, and you have to pay 10 euro a month extra for it. thanks vodafone :-/

I recieved my brand spanking new Iphone 4s on the 4th of January. (2 weeks old!) $900NZD it came to. Now with this sort of money being spent on one device you do get a bit OCD over it.Now I read through a few discussions and noticed a similar one, and noticed my home button wiggles. It wiggles up and down, but not so noticeably side to side. (It's a tiny wiggle by the way) I brush it aside thinking it won't matter. But I'm also not shaking the feeling of OCD off. This phone is perfect in every other aspect.Also, this was purchased off the New Zealand apple site, but we do not have any apple stores in New Zealand. Am I just being a bit silly over this? Is this common? Or am I alone.

Iphone 5 hacked-about 30 emails sent out to what looks to be phishing website-TELUS customer

My home button was broken.  So I had the iPhone 4 replaced at an Apple Store. Now I want to register the iPhone on the Apple Support site but when I give the serial number it tells me that it is already registered to another Apple ID. Should be the previous owner before the refurbishing. How can I get back this serial number so I can register the iPhone?

Was a Apple fan a few years ago and made the mistake of trying Windows. Received a IPhone for X-Mas and thought the set-up was way too easy. I went on-line and thought I updated my apple id (and did as I could verify past purchases, etc.). I was able to update my IPhone with my old songs and apps (yes I updated ITunes and software on IPhone first). Phone shows 15 apps that could be updated. When I try a pop-up request for a password and a very ond apple ID (email I don't use any more) prevents me from updating apps. I've searched Apple's web site and phone manual and can't find a way to change the apple id, merge multiple id's or delete out-dated id's. I'm not looking to re-set a password for a id I no longer use (old gmail address). Before I give up and return the phone I was hoping someone out there might have had this problem and could offer a solution. I'm looking for one apple id and would like to delete the gmail (and any others I don't know I might have). Thanks,  Craig

How could I tell if my iPhone 4s has been jailbroken

Hello everyone! I'm sorry if this may sound extremely stupid, but I'm not very good with the whole Apple hardware, and what makes it tick.  I had read something about jailbroken iPhones and hacking viruses, and just before I had read that, I had encountered someone on Tumblr (through Safari, not the Tumblr application, if there is one...I don't personally have an account, but I browse the site) who had suffered some kind of hacking virus.  I panicked a little, wondering if there was a possibility the virus from their blog could effect my iPhone, and a few searches on Safari later, I then panicked about whether my iPhone could possibly be jailbroken.  I'm not looking for any websites to check whether the phone is jailbroken or not, (it probably isn't), and I'm not looking to jailbreak it, but I've recieved so much help from these communities I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask this silly question.  I've heard a lot about the whole loading screen (when you first turn the phone on and the apple logo with the little crease through the apple shows up) being different, etc, and a whole slew of others.  Everything looks normal....the loading screen is black with the apple logo and crack/crease/curved line...whatever you wish to call it, but it won't stop me from being paranoid, haha.  Could anyone help? Just how could I tell without downloading or messing with anything on my phone or computer?

Factory-unlocked iphone 3GS-no service problem

Hello, I bought my 3GS 2 years ago as part of a ongoing contract - I've just upgraded to a 4S and the carrier (SFR) have authorised the unlocking of the 3GS.  Went on to itunes and followed the instructions and obtained a "congratulations your phone is unlocked" - during the process the 3GS has been upgraded to version 6.0.1 I have confirmed via another net site, by entering the IMEI, that the phone status is "unlocked". Sold the phone today and the new owner put in their SIM card (not SFR) and they have the "no service" error showing top left. We have tried the "Airplane mode" on/off We have tried turning off 3G and reboot (both buttons held) But still no joy. The carrier shows up as "SFR" and we can't see a way of "forcing" another carrier. The phone was legally unlocked via itunes (with authorisation from my carrier). How do we fix this "no service" problem so the new owner can use their SIM card? Thanks in advance for your help

What warranty for refurbished iPhone sold by AT T

Considering purchasing a refurbished iPhone from AT&T. Curiously, I noticed refurbished iPhones are not sold online at the Apple Store...  I'd like to know the official answer for this question, from an Apple representative, or at least referencing a legal document on the Apple site:"What is the warranty for a refurbished iPhone?" Also, "Can AppleCare be purchased for a refurbished iPhone?" Again, I would like Apple's answers to these questions, not AT&T's. Thanks.
