For the past two weeks I have been getting terrible battery life. This morning my battery charge dropped from 100% to 90% in 2 hours. I have tried double pressing and turning off apps, but that hasn't helped. How do I determine what is using up the battery?
Water Damage iPhone 4S
On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iPhone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iPhone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour. About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iPhone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode. Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button. I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iPhone 4S when the next generation iPhone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady

I bought an iPhone 4 locked to Orange UK why can't it be unlocked
I contacted Orange UK and they said that this iPhone4 is ready to be unlocked, but they can't unlock the phone because I am not the original contract owner. Why can't Apple unlock this phone, because the original owner doesn't care and has sold it? As far as I understand, I am one of at least 3 owners for this phone. I guess there could be more. I just wanted to have a normal iPhone, why can't Apple help on this issue? I have previously had many apple products, this is the first one I bought used adn just wanted to restore it to normal. Another thing is that 3rd party services can unlock it for 200$. What is that they do to unlock it? Why can't apple make a small comission for unlcoking iPhones instead. Has had problem with Iphone 4s battery not holding charged status
My 4S Iphone would not sync although it would charge when i connected it to my computer. I got help from an apple representative who walked me through syncing with icloud to get back my contacts. My phone wil not hold a charge since then. Apple diagnostic said the battery was perfect??

Hello apple support community.My i phone 5 that I recently bought last Sunday (May 5th) has some major issues. The battery life is TERRIBLE!! I have tried to lower brightness, turn off lte, turn off vibration, etc... But nothing is working!!! I exchanged the iphone for another black 32 gig, but event this one is pretty bad. I got 5hrs 20mins of usage, and 7hrs 16mins on standby. This is my second charge on this new phone. I drained it down to 0% when I first got it and then an overnight charge for 8hrs all the way up to 100%. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! All answers would be greatly appreciated!- Biggie_LP

Hello everyone! I've got a problem with my iPhone 4S and I hope someone here can give me a hint on how to fix this... Last year in March I was on vacation in Las Vegas (I live in Austria/Europe) and bought a new unlocked iPhone 4S GSM in the Apple Store in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas including AppleCare+ (I just learned that iPhones can only be serviced in the Country where they are bought - my bad). Lately I was browsing through my Apple support profile and noticed that my iPhone was not registered there. So I tried to enter the serial number of the device and got this message:We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us. I knew this could not be true so I called Apple Care here in Austria and first I was told that - according to its serial number - my iPhone has been replaced, and that it never should have been sold. I also was told that I have no chance of getting any service for this device despite the Care Protection Plan because the device is invalid due to its status as "replaced". And last but not least I was told that I could never receive any service for this device because American devices cannot be repaired in Europe (I was not aware of this fact and would have expected the salesperson in the Apple Store to tell me because I definitely told him that I am from Austria). Meanwhile I wrote an email to the store where I bought the iPhone from but it's two days now and I have not received an answer (or any indication that my email was received) yet. My battery drains VERY quickly I'm having to plug in twice day iPhone 5
Hi Its becoming incresingly annoying that I'm having to charge my iPhone twice a day. Its always 100% at the start of the day and come around tea time its down to around 30%. I do use it for whatsapp but thats about it during the day and after having an iPhone 3 & 4 I've never experienced such issues. I was told the battery life was improved with the iPhone 5? My main point is that its not always been like this and with having over a year left on my contract I need to nip this in the bud before it gets any worse. Things I have tried so far (To no avail) Closing all apps that are open.Lowered my screen brightness (I can only just see it) Any suggestions as neither of the above two have worked. Cheers Gareth

Less than two months ago, I purchased an iPhone 4S 16G, as well as a LifeProof case, which the dealer told me was superior to an Otterbox. It is touted to be waterproof, dirtproof, snow/iceproof, and shockproof. Up until today, I have been quite pleased with my case, though the screen protector does make it a bit harder to to tap the screen. Today, I had my phone in my pocket. When I bent over, it fell out and hit the ground from a height of two feet. It was completely in its case, and I had performed all the checks recommended before using the case. It fell on to carpet. When I picked it up, the case was undamaged, but the entire front of my phone was shattered. It look as though it had been hit by a bullet. The screen still worked, but it was covered with tiny shards of glass. The damage seemed focused around the ear speaker at the top of the phone. I have in the past dropped an iPod touch, sans case, face down onto tile, and the damage was about 4x less than the current damage on my phone. I immediately called Apple, who told me that the warranty did not apply to my situation (though this was not a surprise). I would have to replace my phone, refurbished for $150 or new for $200. I then called LifeProof, at which point I discovered that their warranty only covers the case. They will not refund your phone, though they offered to give me a new case. The person I spoke to told me that he used a LifeProof case, and that his screen had cracked several times while using it. He recommended going to an independent phone dealership who would repair my screen. In short, this overpriced case does almost nothing. To be fair, I have had no problems with the waterproof aspect of the case. However, it will not protect your phone from even the most minor drop that would normally not damage the phone at all. I have seen several accounts of LifeProof owners who put their phone in their pocket and pull it out cracked. This case is not worth $1, let alone $80. For emphasis, I have included some photos of what my phone looks like after the fall. Remember, this was only two feet and onto carpet while in the supposedly shock-proof case.

My third attempt to fix my iPhone 4s. I've gone through two phones calls, three associates, and one Tech. support supervisor. The only thing said to me was "I cant do anything". I've explained my problem, as thorough as possible but the only option was to purchase a replacment for $200. Hello everyone, I rencently purchased an iphone 5 from a person selling it on craigslist. the iphone is an At&t model and according to the person i bought it from the device is unlock. Is there anyway of telling if this is true without inserting a sim card for a different carrier? Are those websites where one enters the IMEI number a safe way to determine unlock status?
Dying iPhone 5
I have been having multiple problems with my iphone 5 and ive only had it for 6 months. I have been restoring it to factory settings on a regular basis however it still has been having problems (more and more frequent. #1 Teathering. I have been having trouble teathering off of my phone. (i tried several devices to rule my macbook out of the troubleshooting, nothing works) No device picks up my wifi or bluetooth personal hotspot. My macbook does not even recognize my USB connection in network settings. #2 My wifi on the phone is also a hassle. It has been becoming more and more intermittant, but rarely works. I have tried multiple networks with the same result. #3 My phone has become generally slow especially for safari and mail. On wifi, they dont work at all. on 3G, and LTE, the phone has also become very slow and often won't load at all. As stated above, restoring used do fix everything but that fix has become very short term, and often hasn't been working at all. Can someone help me?

iPhone 4 has very short WiFi range
I have an 8Gb iPhone 4 that I bought new in December. Two days ago, it stopped connecting to my home WiFi network unless it is really close to my router, and it won't connect to my university's WiFi network either. When I go to Settings -> WiFi, it shows that no networks are in range. It connects to my home router when I take it within four feet of the router, but when I walk to a different room it disconnects and goes back to 3G; I haven't found a router at school to try this with yet. My phone has auto-connected to both my home and school networks for months now. I know the problem is with the phone, because my Macbook Pro connects to both networks without any trouble. I've tried turning my phone's WiFi off and on, turning my phone off and on, and turning the WiFi off, then turning the phone off, then turning both back on to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

to cut a long story short. I was interested in an i-phone... got the details..checked them all.. on the phone and with the provider, VODAPHONE... told unlocked, not stolen etc etc. proceeded to buy the phone...new sim topped up £10 only to find it wouldn't work... Went into vodaphone store..been running around following thier advice..(they said I need a friend who is a customer on vodaphone to get passed the unlocking with a vodaphone code.. and they would do it for free given the circumstances...so i run errands go back and forth doing as they asked...got nowhere) SO IT IS NOW A MONTH LATER..and after complaining and complaining to thier email site and repeatedly asking for help in store..I am stumped as what to do and just have a glorified ipod. I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO REMAIN ON THE VODAPHONE NETWORK given the situation they have put me in and thier unwillingness to help so i refuse to use the phone with vodaphone... BUT WHAT can i do PLEASEEEEEEE? all they keep on suggesting is that I get the original owners details but he is not answering anything...and the phone is not registered as stolen etc so what is the problem!? As you can imagine I am really peeved by the whole thing as I actually carried out all the necessary checks, and whilst the phone was not bought directly from vodaphone, I went to them as the provider, to find otu about unlocking etc as it is always advised to do so..and it was them that gave me the wrong information but they still will not resolve the issue. I have even sent them phone records to confirm when I rung and the name of the invalid who told me the phone was unlocked in the first place. I really would much appreciate any help as they are ignoring my emails now.

Hi! I recently upgraded to iphone 5 with Orange and had just got myself a 24month contract but after a couple of weeks, the worst happend - I managed to drop my lovely new phone down the toilet! Anyway long story short, I am going to order a new iphone 5 online with Apple and it will be unlocked.What I'd like to know is will there be any problem putting my orange contract sim in an unlocked iphone 5? HI, Firstly i have an Iphone 4S 16GB. I understand there has been many posts about this but i'm desperate for a direct answer as to why my "other" storage is at 5.20GB. I have gotten ridden of unwanted songs, apps and photos to free up space but yet i still have only 0.9GB free. I also have taken some advice to clear game data like scores etc, emails, messages, bookmarks, blah blah. yet nothing has changed. Even when i restore it fixes it but only for short period of time. I googled to no end, searched Apple support forums endlessly and you know what? Not a single simple answer can seem to be given without being redirected to something that simply does not answer THIS very specific question. Is it, or is it not possible to quickly transfer photos DIRECTLY *FROM* and *INTO* the Camera Roll WITHOUT iTunes or iPhoto? Simple question yes? lol. NOPE. Reason why I ask can be simply described in short: iTunes 11.0.2, running iPhone iOS 6.1; Clicking "Photos" from my iPhone via iTunes, gives me ONE single option; "Sync photos from". Tried keeping it real simple. Make a folder on the desktop called iPhone Photos just for quickly transfering photos back and forth and chose to synch from that. 18 photos to test. Just crap from the internet. Nothing major. Know what it does? For one, it takes 3 minutes or so to sync 18 whole photos, which is stupid but whatever. But here's the BEST part, none get sent to my Camera Roll, oh no, it makes TWO entirely new folders under it in my iPhone. One being the one I made on my desktop, and the other is called Photo Library, and get this, BOTH of these have the same 18 pictures lmao. Yup. Why? Oh who cares at this point. I really just do not care. Apple. All that needs to be said. And as for iPhoto. It's just an unnecessary useless program I have no intentions of ever needing. Why? I keep a crap load of various types of photos in organized folders in my Finder, and iPhoto likes making sure it takes 3x longer to do that. It really just does. Now back on point. What happened to the good old friggin days when all you had to do was DRAG AND DROP?!?!?! I legitimately am getting cancer from pondering this question. Is there not a way to simply drag from Camera Roll somehow to the iMac, like say a specified folder. And Vice Versa from the iMac straight to Camera Roll? A nice workaround to get FROM Camera Roll TO iMac specified folder is "Image Capture" which does exactly just THAT. Quickly and painlessly transfer STRAIGHT FROM AND TO wherever. This is ridiculous. At this point, I'd pay 50 bucks for a simple app to quickly drag and drop from and to Camera Roll and bam. Done. Sorry for the book, but this is getting ******** trying to get an answer to this and thought I would deem it necessary to be as descriptive as humanly possible. Looking for simple answers if possible, but at least descriptive. Thanks.

iPhone 5 batterycharger problem
About a week ago, my iPhone 5 charger started going in and out. After about three days, it stopped working completely. Assuming that it was just a short in the cord, I just went to buy a new one. The store I went to had sold out of just the plain lightning cord, so I bought an offbrand adapter to the old 30 pin chargers. Of course, two days later, it stopped working, broke off into my phone, and I had to pull it out with tweezers. I found an offbrand lightning cord at a gas station for pretty cheap, and it seemed to work fine. But the day I started using it, after my phone had been running for the day, my battery was at 12% and out of nowhere skipped to 1%. I had no apps running, and that has never happened to me before. Could the problem be with my phone or the offbrand charger? I have plenty of friends who use offbrand iPhone 5 chargers and haven't had a problem like this.

My iPhone 4 stopped charging and won't charge anymore ideas
I was charging it and listening to pandora when my phone started to feel really hot! I couldn't really touch it. The USB port that plugs into the outlet was hot, along with the actual USB plug in. And then the plug that goes into the phone was very hot too, and the bottom of the phone where the charger goes in was hot. So, in long story short, everything was hot. That was the first time I experienced that, and it scared me so I quickly unplugged the cord and it started to cool down. Not it is completely cooled, the phone, and the cord, and when I try to plug it in again to charge it doesn't charge. I thought maybe it was just the cord. So I got a different one, and it still didn't work. I even tried plugging it into the computer, and still no luck. Some additional information, I was using an extension cord, and was laying in bed. I also have been experiencing issues where the phone would be plugged in, and say that 'it is not supported' or something like that, and would stop charging. And also earlier today I upgraded my phone system to the 6.1.3 Please help!!!!! Will I have to send it in? I hope my phone isn't completely dead! :(
iTunes Movie Trailers App won t show Arclight Cinemas iPhone 3G
Hey, For some reason when I opened my iTunes Movie Trailers App today, none of the Arclight Cinemas in LA are listed (they used to be). They're not on the theatre map and none of the showtimes appear. Did something happen? Is this just a short term glitch (i.e. they forgot to report their showtimes)? did Arclight purposely request to be removed from the app? Or is the app just being stupid? Is anyone else noticing this issue? I also checked the website, http://trailers.apple.com, and they aren't listed on there either, so I'm wondering if it's a company policy thing... P.S. I wanted to list this under a "iTunes Movie Trailers App" location but couldn't find any such thing in the support communities. Did I miss it?

Iphone 5 battery life great after ios 6.1.3 update
Hello Folks, Created this thread so that people know that not every iPhone 5 has a bad battery issue. I got the iPhone 5 32 GB Unlocked version last week and i was going through all the forums checking the battery issues people had since updating their iOS version. I saw that a lot of people have issues with their battery which put me on backfoot for upgrading the OS. Then too i took the leap of faith with the thought that it is "Apple!!" a premium brand.. And i am glad i did. Now i know a lot of people had issues with the ios 6.1.3 Upgrade. But for me it was smooth. When i got the phone i was by default on 6.0.2 and battery life was ok. It was les than ATT Galaxy S3 i had before as in they battery used to die in 14-16 hours which was not bad i would say. Since i upgraded, it was on 100% in the night at 12:30 AM. I woke up, and it was still 100%. So stand by battery is super awesome after the upgrade. As for the usage now, it is 4:30 PM here in NY and the battery is about 55%. The stats that i see is 17 hours stand by time and 6 hours usage. So i beleive my battery life is improved. Also my LTE is off as we dont have it in Long Island. In the night I was on Wifi, I am in office now and wifi is disabled, listened to an hour of music on spotify, notifications are off for all the useless apps, mail frequency is 1 hour, use whatsapp a lot. Thats it. So atleast for me, the upgrade was a beneifit. And the battery life has difinitely improved. PS: I have not created the thread to poke people with battery issues, just an FYI to people that not everyone is having battery issues. Peace....

Hi All, Quite short sweet and simple, is it possible to unlock the iPhone 5? My friend looking to purchase one of another friend, but apparently he says the iPhone is unable to be unlocked? I used to change providers a fair few times with my old iPhone 4, via iTunes. I currently have the iPhone 5 but i don't really want to wipe my phone just to prove my theory to a friend; if anyone has any information that'd be great! Thanks, James
