music suddenly starts playing on its own iPhone 4

I have a iPhone 4 (32GB) running 4.0.2 and over the past week or two I have noticed that once in a while whatever music I have currently paused on my phone will just start to play. In fact it just happened again now. The iPhone was just sitting on my desk next to me in sleep mode and the music just suddenly started to play on it. It happened a few days ago as well when I was walking around a store with the phone in the side holster I have. I have tried rebooting the phone (even a hard reboot). Is there some app that might be causing this? Many times it has happened the iPhone is in sleep mode (screen locked) so it isnt as if me touching it in some way would do that. It happened again today when I ran the Weather Channel app on the iPhone the iPod started to play. Very strange. Intel Core i7 920 Windows 7 64bit Windows 7

Assigning music to tones iPhone 4

Can someone please guide me on how an audio file from the iTunes library can be assigned to create custom SMS alerts, Alarm tones and Ringtones? I cant imagine Apple wouldve overlooked such a dead basic feature, yet it seems to be an impossibility? HP Pavilion Windows 7 iPhone 4

iPhone 4 Bug List-iOS 4.0.2

I just wanted to post this topic as Im curious if the Apple monster will even read this or address them. I hope I get surprised. Apple makes, hands down, the most high quality of devices, but they tend to have it there way more than ours. I guess thats what makes them Apple. Without further ado, here is my list of bugs Ive noticed and I hope youll add to it. I would just love to see Apple address these:1. Performance issues with Podcasts and multiple-tasking. Youll hear stuttering on occasion, sometimes often while playing a podcast or even music. Ive noticed this at random and also at times when the phone locks or when switching out of the iPod.2. I just noticed this one: if you take the time to write on this exact site, you will find yourself getting lost, as sometimes the text goes on, and the screen doesnt follow it. Suprising that even on the iPhones home site, it cant perform the way it ought to. Youll also notice that below here, its asking me what hardware Im using and what OS. It should be clear what hardware Im on and even what OS Im running. Brilliant, considering this is Apple.com, I selected the iPhone 4 section, and the browser can report the os version. Oh wow, I just lost my text again and had to press the expanding icon on the bottom right of this pane. Also, sometimes i lose my text permanently where I should be able to scroll down to find it but there arent scroll bars... The attention to detail of the aesthetics of the phone cant be matched on the outside, but again, leave a lot to be desired on the inside.3. Echo for the remote callers own voice when my phone is plugged into a stereo through the headphone jack. Even when my volume is so low, I cant hear it.4. While heavily texting, if I exit out to the home screen after/during the send of the text, my phone will freeze for a good 60-120 seconds. If I press too many buttons, trying to get it to respond, it will reboot itself instead of coming back to life. Again this only happens (very seldom) when Im sending texts to multiple random people and I abruptly go home while a message is being sent (or maybe received?).5. While playing music, the quality will often drop drastically when entering a game or application that has sounds. This has only happened in two places so far. While talking on the phone, if I go to play music on the iPod to hear in my headphones, and when entering Bejeweled 2 Blitz with the in-game music off and the sounds on, while iPod music is being played. I do not believe this is Bejeweled at fault. Try it, make a call and try and play some background music in your headphones. The quality drops to a very unacceptable level.Thats actually all I can think of for now! Please fix these issues Apple and I will gain a good bit of respect, knowing you heard and acknowledged this. Also, please, everyone post your findings as well, in addition to the Bluetooth, and proximity bugs that have seemingly been addressed but not resolved. iPhone 4 iOS 4 4.0.2, thanks for the option above, and for not already knowing that.

Synchronization iPhone 3G

I have a 3G iPhone with software version 4.0.2. and iTunes (in Spanish) version 9.2.1., after connecting the iPhone to your computer (Windows XP) copy the data from the iPhone and is not synchronized, the Apps and iTunes music will not appear on the iPhone.Any ideas? Windows XP

Hi All,I recently moved my iTunes library from my PC to Network drive.During the move due to my stupidity I lost my playlists.I have 2 x iPhone 3Gs and a 160GB iPod classic.The iPod classic can sync with iTunes no problem.When I try to sync either of my iPhones nothing happens.I am using the same cable as my iPod and it starts charging the phone.My PC recognises the phone as it asks me if I want to few photos.However iTunes does not recognise the phone.I am not sure what to do as nothing has changed with the exception of where the music is located.Does anytone have any suggestions?I have been trying to get this sorted for the last 5 days with no luck. Wont SYNC iPhone 3G

Im trying to sync my iPhone through iTunes but its not working. First it says something about a duplicate file. Then it says an internal device error has occured. iPhone Slightly Messed Up-iphone softwae server could not be contacted

Okay so my iphone is kind of messed up. Bug ipod on 3G. Christina aguilera back to basics iPhone 3G

Hi I seem to have a bug on my ipod part of my 3g iphone. All my Christina Aquilera songs from her Back to Basics album displays the album artwork of a guy called Charles Hines, who also has a album of the same name!I have deleted and replaced my music from my ipod twice now and the same problem occurs!The strange thing is I dont have any Charles Hines songs on my itunes or ipod (never heard of him to be honest!) and when I play her songs his album cover comes up! Low Sounds iPhone 3G

For some strange reason, the sound on my iphone 3G has reduced drastically. I am not able to hear either ringtone nor any music. The volume control is at full level. I tried resetting the phone and tried almost everything, but the sound volume can not be increased. All other functions are in perfect condition. The phone has neither fallen or become wet. I have just installed IOS 4.0.2i think its that one.But okay, i plug my headphones in and it slows my phone down so much. No sounds iPhone 4

Hi allUpdated to 4.0.2 recently, although not sure if this is the problem or just coincidence.On settings, all my sounds are on (i.e. lock sounds, ringtone to loudest, keyboard clicks) and they have been working until today.Now the keyboard clicks dont work, nor do any other sounds other than the iPod. When I go into settings and confirm my ringtone, it does ring, but not when I get a call.This all worked previously but as I say, not sure whether just a conincidence with the update. Are there any other settings that I may have inadvertently changed.All the best

Syncing new iphone 4 problem

I am computer illiterate. I have a new Iphone 4, which is recognised by itunes (an account created for use with my ipod touch). Whilst podcasts are synced I cant sync the complete music library, it seems only to sync a couple of albums purchased through itunes and not find about 20gb of music I have in the library. Question about screeningrejecting calls etc iPhone 4

Hi, Im new to the forums as of today. I had a 3G for a while, upgraded because of the OS4 issues (to a Samsung Galaxy) then went back and ordered an iPhone 4 instead because, well... I love the interface, apps, and my iTunes music that I was unable to port over. Not a fan of the mp3/computer interfacing of android phones, I think the sync stuff with iTunes is far more user friendly. But...onto my real issue/questionLong story short, I did like one feature from the Galaxy and that was to auto-reject a call with a filler text message such as Im driving or will call back, and I cant figure out how or if we can do this on an iPhone.Ive done some research on this and some google suggestions such as http://www.programmerfish.com/send-auto-sms-on-iphone-4/ say this feature is automatic on this phone since its an iPhone 4 but every time I double click the power button it just sends the call to voicemail with no such interface to send a reject message etc. Does anybody know what the deal is? iPhone 3G Problems

Hi, so i have recently updated the software of my iPhone 3G to 4.0.2, i hoped this would help the iPhone 3G, but obviously not. The phone is going so slow, i have to wait about 2 minutes for my messages, iPod and other things to load up. It also takes a long time to load anything. And i have been experiencing problems with my music to. When i have the headphones in, it doubles the slowness of my iPhone even when the music isnt playing which is really weird. Also, the music has started speeding up for about 90% of the song, so a 3 minute songs finishes in about 15 seconds as it has sped it up for no reason! It does it for every song to. Also, the music will randomly pause even when my phone is on lock and i am not pressing anything. It also does it when its not on lock, and it just goes from the pause sign to the play so i have to press play as it just stops.Does anybody have any fixes for these problems? I have tried to restore my software to 3.0.2 or whatever it was before 4.0.1, but i cant. There isnt a restore date from when i had it. Even a few days after i downloaded 4.0.1 i tried to restore it but it wouldnt let me. I went into the apple store in Newcastle and they told me to restore it but i had and they said there was nothing they could do. Nervous about doing Phone Book Contacts Sync to my iMac. iPhone 3G

Hi,I want put all my contacts from my iphone onto my imac when I am doing my synching of applications etc but I am nervous as I have heard you can lose some or all if done in the wrong way. I dont have any problems synching my apps,manually managed music and events, photos etc but Ive always been nervous when doing contacts, I have heard you need to have one exclusive contact on the imac for all the phone contacts to be added, is this the case? Also, if I add a new contact onto my imac at a later date, will it be added to my iphone when I next do my synching?Thanks Adam

I am considering getting a iphone 4, and selling my ipod touch. Although I like to listen to music a lot and I would also like to text and talk on the phone. Does this phone allow me to listen to music and also talk on the phone at the same time, or listen to music and text at the same time? This would probably be done via bluetooth. Ive upgraded from PC to MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4-HELP

I am currently using a PC and have my iPhone 3GS synced to that unit.I decided to upgrade my PC to a MacBook Pro two days ago and have received my new iPhone 4 today.My question is – how am I able to get my current iPhone 3GS back up that is on my PC on to my new MacBook pro so that I can sync my music/contacts/notes/messages etc to my new iPhone 4?I have avoided syncing my current iPhone 3GS to the new MacBook as I knew I would be receiving my iPhone 4 this week.Please help – Losing my iPhone data is not an option as I have extremely important contacts/text messages that I need to keep for legal reasons. I cant put into words how frustrated I am with this. Ive been working on this for a few weeks now. I have gone through the painful process of performing a clean reinstall of iTunes on a cleanly reinstalled OS (Windows7).Everything appeared to have gone well until the time came to sync my apps/music/movies. iPhone 3G 8GB-Slow as all get out

Ok, I have spent time searching the forums, and web for any answers. I have a few problems with my iPhone, and most of you will probably hate me for what I am going to say.First issue: My iPhone is ungodly slow. I mean it takes about 3-4 minutes for the app store to load sometimes, when loading an app, constantly loads while in the app, causing the app to freeze. Sometimes when I go into an app, after about 15-30 seconds it kicks me out of the app.Second issue: Sound is super low. When I go to make a call on my iPhone, I am either forced to use a Bluetooth Headset or Speaker to place the call. The normal speaker works but is really really low. And yes, I do have the volume all the way turned up. When receiving a call, I can barely hear the ringtone sometimes, it is super low.Third issue: My iPhone constantly says No Simcard Installed I know part of it is probably because the sim does not fit snug inside the phone anymore, but It also does it randomly at times. I was wondering if it could be a software issue, and not the actual sim card. Last issue (For Now): Replacing the back case. I am wondering if I should replace the back case for my phone, or just finally upgrade to another iPhone. My back case has about 5 cracks on it, its loose, and my lock/power button does not work, the vibrator switch does not work, vibrate does not work, and I am missing a piece of the case that goes on the top of the phone.So should I just spare myself headache, and financial hit, and just go purchase another iPhone 3G or 3GS, I do not plan on getting the iPhone 4 as of yet, but do you think it is time for a full upgrade, or just fix the issues I am currently having. 15" Macbook Pro (2010) iPhone 3G 8G Mac OS X (10.6.4) 2.66 GHZ Core i7 500GB HD, 4GB RAM

I fixed my 3G after dreadful Software Update. iPhone 3G

I did a restore phone as new ... and I started from scratch.. I think the secret is to keep your phone as empty as you can (even though thats RIDICULOUS to have to do that) but I deleted a lot of my music and the phone runs pretty fast. Not as fast as it did before the update but its SO much faster than it was. So, if you are desperate for a fast phone and can loose some of your stuff (music, etc).. I recommend it . Album artwork takes up WAY too much space iPhone 4

It took me a long time to figure out the culprit, but I finally concluded that iTunes is syncing very high quality album art to my iPhone 4, resulting in the exact same music library taking up almost 3GB more than on my 3GS. Heres how I know this: when I click on my iPhone in iTunes, the capacity bar says Audio is taking up 12.52GB, but when I go to look at the music on my iPhone, it says I only have 9.38GB of music. I do not have any podcasts, movies, audiobooks, apps, or anything - literally all thats on my phone is music files. To test my hypothesis, I jailbroke my phone to get access to the file system and looked in the folder it stores the artwork in, and lo and behold, the folder on my iPhone 4 is 3.2GB big, and the one on my 3GS is only 500MB.My question is this: is there any way to force iTunes to sync lower quality album artwork; or, failing that, is there any source I can get lower quality (say, 300x300 pixel) album artwork from?And if anyone on the iTunes development team happens to read this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add an option in the next version of iTunes to convert album art to lower quality before syncing, like the recent option to convert music to 128 kbps. iPhone 4 16GB iOS 4

The problem we are having deals specifically with the contacts for each phone when they synced. When we sync a phone, using gmail (which asks for an address and password), the process combines our contacts. My question are 1. Why does the iTunes program recognize that each phone is unique with the acception contacts? 2. If my wife and I have separate iTunes accounts, why does the iTunes program not recognize the accounts as separate for contacts (like email accounts for example)?3. Is there a way to sync two phones (with different accounts) to the same iTunes program without mixing contacts? iPhone 4 iOS 4

Problems with iPhone 3G sync

When I try to sync my iPhone 3G the sync never completes. I mean I have let it run for excess of 48 hours just to see. Also the applied changes ie, photos, music playlists etc are not being applied. I s this a problem with iTunes or with my phone. Im posting here because I believe it to be a problem with my phone as my iPods and my wifes phone sync fine. any help here would be most appreciated. iPhone iPhone cannot be synced. required disk cannot be found

Ever since the update to iOS4 weve had issue after issue with this phone. We cant get a complete sync... and there is music purchased on there that we want, so I dont want to restore yet.Literally 2 days from getting her iPhone 4.... ugh.I tried completely uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling. Trouble with iOS 4.0.2 update iPhone 3G

Okay... Heres my problem. When I connect my iPhone 3G to iTunes and try to update to the most recent software, this message pops up: Updating to iOS 4.0.2 will delete all media, including iTunes Store purchases. To preserve your media, apply this update on the computer where you sync music, videos, and photos. Updating on this computer will only preserve apps, contacts, calendars, text messages, and other settings. Please do not interrupt the update, which may take an hour or longer to complete. iTunes will verify the software update with Apple. It then gives me the options to update or cancel. But heres the dilemma: I recently got a new laptop and am in the process of transferring all my files and data and such from the old laptop to the new one. In other words, this laptop is now the computer that I will be syncing everything on. Can anybody advise me on how to get iTunes to recognize that? 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3
