i havent really had any problems with my iPhone 4 so far but recently i noticed that i can barely hear the other person during a call anymore bc its making weird cracking noises out of the ear piece of the device (no matter how much service i got and it already happens during the beep part of a call). It sounds like im on analog or like the other person would talk through a can. It works fine if i put the other person on speaker btw i dont rly now how to describe it better but i think the ear piece might be broken??? Mac Book Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4) iPhone 4 - 16 GB

Hi guys,i have the iphone 4 bought in new york apple store with firmware 4.0.2 and i purchased a prepaid sim at&t card in the usa.In the usa it worked, as soon as i arrive in italy, the wireless cant connect, it says: no service, In settings i tried the automatic and the manual, but both doesnt work, when i go manual it finds the four italian carrier but cannot connet to anyone. That at t site says it should work. What can i do? iOS 4
Im running on iOS 4.0.1 and downloaded the 4.0.2 in iTunes (but NOT installed in my iPhone yet, its just downloaded). So everytime I click the Update button, it tells me if I want to install the 4.0.2 update that has been downloaded days ago. I decided not to install it since iOS 4.1 is coming. My question is, when iOS 4.1 becomes available from the Apple server and I click Update, will iTunes detect the new 4.1 and overwrite 4.0.2 stored in my iTunes? Or do I need to install 4.0.2 in my iPhone first to give way for iTunes to detect 4.1 for download? Thanks in advance! HP SlimLine Windows Vista
Hello all i sent my self an email of a txt message i got its about 25 seconds long i was wondering does anyone know a good program i can use to convert that to my ringtone my on phone thanx for the help ym648vumvqk Windows 7 compaq
Well, having tried Apple retail store, Apple online help, telephone support and getting stonewalled or denial or just no solution I realised the actual solution lays in the longer game. Even after leaving my email address and phone number on Apple Feedback sites I never had someone contact me to address my 3G issues personally. So the strategy I have now is as follows: I meet on average probably ten business people per day through my work, different people mostly. Inevitably there is an opportunity to talk about mobile phones etc, even if just over coffee break. I make it my point now to recount my 3G-iOS4-slowdown horror-story-and-no-admission-by-Apple story to as many as possible , but more than that - I ensure they get the clear picture that buying an Apple iPhone can be a BIG risk regarding the handset and after-sales customer service too, and that choosing another handset/OS (e.g Android) should be seriously considered for health and happiness (and business effectiveness if you rely on these devices). I figure a percentage will carry that message on to other conversations with other business people. Its a kind of viral marketing - designed to build a volume over time exponentially - a lobbying force or just a gradual force of consumer changed habit that will demonstrate to Apple that ignoring your previously loyal customers and going in denial about it only results in customers turning on you in force - which over time will be reflected in lower sales and of course more widespread bad reputation. Thats capitalism for you, but with the shoe on the other foot. I was Apples biggest fan but now I am compelled to continue this strategy until I get some truthful admission by them and solutions (without the obvious one which cynically I suspected from the start was their strategy - forcing 3G owners to move to the iPhone 4). Either that or if no help comes our way then to continue to market the counter-message and warning about Apple products and service. I am no mathematician if I meet two people person per day who each go on to tell two more people per day - how many is that in one 30 day month who carry the message? The clock is ticking. You can do this too - it the long run it places pressure on the company to change or at least respond. That may be better than hacking your 3G to try to get back to OS 3.1.3 etc as there will be no need for Apple to change their ways if you keep it to yourself like that. Think about it again. how can I manually turn off the apps running in the background? I hear that too many apps. running eats up the battery life.Is that correct?thanks MacBook,Aluminum 2009;4 gig ram;250 gig hd Mac OS X (10.6.4) iphone 4-32gig; Apple TV 160 gig.
I have an iphone 3G running iOS4.01 and the latest version of iTunes.I dont know how it started. I was updating to iTunes 10 and I lost power to my computer (iPhone was not connected at the time). After a reboot, I uninstalled iTunes because it would no longer run (shutdown in middle of installation does that). Then I downloaded and installed iTunes 10.0.0.68. Everything seemed fine. I even bought a song or two. I wanted to sync that song to my iPhone so I connected it to my computer. I have set custom sounds in windows so that it lets me know when a device connects. The connect sound plays but the iPhone does not start to charge, nor does iTunes pop open, nor does windows explorer pop open with device options. Nothing happens. So I open up devices and it shows me the usual stuff but categorized under unknown is Apple Mobile Device USB or something like that with a warning explanation point ! next to it telling me that there is an error with it. So I right click and select troubleshoot. Cant fix problem. So I open up the (almost) never failing google and start searching. I find a mind-boggling amount of cases similar but usually with an iPod not an iPhone and those were solvable. I finally get to one that says that I should try resetting my iPhone and making connect in recovery mode. So I hold the power and home buttons down until the iPhone turns off. I open iTunes, hold down the home button and connect the iPhone. The Connect to iTunes screen appears... and nothing happens. Not immediately, not after 30 minutes. Nothing (except for the iPhone timing out and powering off again). So then I take a huge leap of faith and decide to actually use apples support page. After sorting through stuff designed for the mentally challenged who cannot locate the home button, I find http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538 .This is exactly the problem I am having and yet following the instructions brings up problems That I havent seen before. So I follow the instructions like a good dog and locate the driver under Universal Serial Bus controllers and as per the instructions I uninstalled it. I then Scan for hardware changes. This is where the instructions start to seem non applicable. As it said it would, scanning for hardware changes found and installed drivers from the iPhone. But instead of installing the Apple Mobile Device driver, I now have a device under portable devices called Apple iPhone. This seemed fine but...iTunes still failed to recognize it. Windows seemed to think that the device is some sort of camera (applying a camera icon to it in the simple device manager). Windows explorer popped up this time and I can see all the photos on my iPhone and copy them and all but it still wants to think this is a camera. The iPhone charges now at least. The instructions continue and I try to follow. It says to search for updates to the Apple Mobile Device driver. Because this is not there and there seems to be no way of getting it there, I apply this to the Apple iPhone under Portable Devices. Everything seems to run smoothly until: Click the Browse button, then navigate to the following location: C:program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers. it seems to tell me that if I am on a 64-bit edition of windows (as I am) I should search for it under C:program Files (x86)Common FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers. but in that location the drivers folder in that location doesnt exist (I dont have 32-bit iTunes installed I guess.) So I go to the C:program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers directory instead and not only does the folder exist but the file is there too. The file usbaapl64 is there and the instructions seem to imply that I should use it if I am 64-bit windows. So I try to use it.BAM! Another problem: The folder you specified doesnt contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver (which it does), make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems.Seriously. What do I do now? Modified HP Pavillion Elite iOS 4 Windows 7 64 bit.
My phone shows a message Enter voicemail password with option to cancel regardless of what app the phone is running. I hit cancel, message goes away. The message randomly pops back up again randomly. Ive noticed the message pops back up when the phone crashes during running application, listening to music etc or even just pushing the home button. There has never been a password on my visual voicemail before. How do I get the message to stop popping up. I looked under settings for a Turn off password and still randomly appears again. Its so annoying and I am ready to break this stupid phone with a hammer. I called the tech support and was request to pay for tech support since its out of warranty. Thanks iphone 3g 4.02 Windows XP
Hi all,As you can tell by the direct subject line of my post, yes, my iPhone 4 screen is knackered. My phone slipped off of my office chair today when I put it down mid-text to read an email. Its about a whole foot off the ground, since I like to low-ride around at work. I picked it up, nonchalant, as you do if it has a small fall, looked at the screen and gasped. I never thought they were that fragile!Anyhoo, I was wondering how much it would cost for an iPhone 4 screen replacement in GBP from Apple.I phoned their automated system and the nice robotic girl was very helpful at not being very helpful at all. I never thought Id try and argue with The Terminators sister, but I did!Ive decided against insurance since most (if not all companies) are wanting about £100 upfront for any iPhone 4 claim + the monthly premiums. Plus trying to claw any sort of solace out of an insurance company usually takes about 6 months.Ive had a look at a couple of third party repairs companies and mobileease.co.uk seems like one of the best bets thus far, although I dont know if theyd use the fabled and genuine aluminosilicate glass. I cant seem to find the price for an Apple repair anywhere online. I was even quoted £60 for an iPhone screen via my service provider (Which I think was for a 3G/3GS). I think my iPhone 4 could of used a replacement screen anyways, as there were some major scratches around my screen and it was hard to use it in direct sunlight. Thanks in advance for reading my rant,Jamie. So tonight my iPhone crashed without reason, I wasnt running any apps. I had just finished showing off how co the face time chatting is when it crashed. Now Im trying to reboot it by holding the sleep and home button for like 10 sec and getting no change in screen. The only thing Im noticing is that the back of my phone is heating up!Anyone have any thoughts or siggestions? Im thinking about taking it back to the apple store when I get home. Thanks Iphone4 iOS 4
Okay, heres the story: My friend spilt water on me and a little bit on my phone. Immediately, I tried drying it off and the phone was working fine. Later that evening, when I would try to use my phone by pressing the Wake/Sleep button, the screen would come up, but would quickly start to fade away. The phone then turned off completely. I noticed that there was a very small red light on next to the earpiece. It looked like a C with a dot in the middle. I also noticed that the area around the earpiece was very hot. After this, I tried plugging my phone into the wall. I tried taking the SIM card for a bit, I put the phone in some rice, and I plugged it into my MacBook (but the phone wouldnt even show up in my iTunes). The light has turned off and the phone is no longer hot, but the phone still wont turn on.Could anyone shed some light on what to do now?
The sealed battery is a disgrace. There is NO benefit to the consumer whatsoever, it is purely a built-in obsolescence. Apple want everyone to keep their iPhone a maximum of 24 months before upgrading to the latest version. If I want to pass my old iphone 4 down to my family, I will probably need to replace the battery beforehand. To have to ship the thing off for this is ridiculous. I baby my phones, treat them like gold and have front & rear screen protectors and a leather case. When it comes to battery replacement time, my handset will still hopefully be in mint condition. I then have to ship it to some service centre for a bloke with a pile of iphones in front of him to do a battery change. Is this fellow going to treat my iphone like gold? No, to him its just the hundredth battery change that day. My phone will no doubt be shipped back to me, at great expense, scratched-up. Apple could still rape us for batteries, they could charge what they like....just make the **** things replaceable by the consumer!! PC Windows Vista
when will the operating system that allows this transfer be released. It seems rather odd to me that Apple will let you rent the movies and have the timer start running on how many days you may keep it without the ability to actually transfer it to your intended device. It appears that I am running 4.02 at this time. Dell Laptop Windows 7
16gb iPhone 4 here, havent had any antenna issues/proximity sensor issues or any of that noise. but all of a sudden, within the past few days, my service in my house has gone to ****-- the phone is almost constantly switching between 3G and edge. i havent had fantastic service at home before but its never been this abysmal, i usually get a couple of bars of 3G with no problem, and 3-4 3G bars in my room upstairs. anyone else experiencing this? its killing my battery, causing me to miss calls, etc. super irritating.im in north NJ for clarification, thanks for any input. 2.4ghz mbp, 16gb iPhone 4 Mac OS X (10.6.1) defunct 900MHz iBook G3 12", 1.5ghz 15" powerBook G4.

I am still running 3.1.3 on my 3G. The last 2 times I have synced, the back-up takes about 10 minutes or so. It used to happen in a minute or so. This happened before the new iTunes update and after. What could be going on? MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4) MacBook (10.6.4), iPhone 3G
Heya, I have an iPhone 3G that is running version 3.1.3 of the iPhone OS and I need to add an Address Book Server account (that is being run on Snow Leopard Server to the phone but the only option I have is LDAP. My understanding is that Address Book Server uses CardDAV not LDAP. So I went ahead and added the account by choosing Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account... ->Other -> Contacts - Add LDAP Account and entered my servers information. After selecting Next it prompts me with the following message:Cannot Connect Using SSL - Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?I choose Continue -> the message disappears and I choose Save -> then Im prompted with this message:This account may not be able to search contacts. Are you sure you want to save?I choose Save and it appears to add it. To verify I exit Settings and go to Address Book and none of my contacts appear. I even let it sit for an hour on a WiFi connection without any luck. Can someone help? Thanks!Tags: ios 3, ios 3.x, addressbook server, addressbookserver, sls, carddav, ldap, iphone 3g 15" MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6)
Hi guys,I just wanted to let you know about my experience today. I went to a phone shop and bought another case for my iphone 4. It is just a plastic snap on case, similar to the one already on the phone except for the colour and paint of the case. I just noticed when i got home that my phone had no service at all and the wifi signal was very low. After panicking, rebooting and resetting network settings i was still at a loss. I took off the case after my other half mentioned too and what do you know, service again! My wifi was normal too. Put the case on and the network was gone immediately. I put the other plastic snap on case on that i was using before and no issues.Just saying beware what case you buy, this case was the exact same case in style only a different colour and what looks to be a different kind of paint. If this happens to you dont panic try taking the case off =)Hope this helps =) Macbook Pro 15inch 2.4Ghz Intel Core i5 Mac OS X (10.6.4) iPhone 4 iOS 4.0.2
Long story short, I have had 2 replacements on my iphone 4 so far. I ordered a free case from my original iphone 4 before the replacement, before I got the replacement phone, I ordered a case INCASE SNAP CASE IPHONE 4 - SMOKE-ZML on my original iphone 4, now to find that I had a gap on the back of the phone, got it replaced, and will call it 1st replacement. Anyways on the 1st replacment I also ordered the same case, so now I ordered 2 of those, and evidently the order went through. Now im on my 2nd replacement and have ordered the GRIFFIN MOTIF IPHONE 4 - DMNDS/SMKE-ZML and yesterday it has shipped. Anyways will I still get the other 2 or will they not send that out?Not that it matters because Im already using the iskin solo for my iphone. But I plan on giving them free if anyone needs it. Let me know and we can go from there. HP Pavilion DV2812tx, HP DV4-1504tx Windows 7 iPod Hi-Fi, iPhone 4 32 GB Black

Hi all !So Ive been wondering how Facetime was working. I heard, since it was going through Wifi, it wouldnt be charged by the carrier, regardless of what kind of contract you have. Ive checked a few tests here and there, and it seems you need to call the person via regular GSM network, and then switch to facetime. Does that mean the GSM connections still running in the background? What if I want to call someone directly via Facetime? If I go in my contacts, select a person, scroll down and clic Facteime, its the list of numbers I have stored for that person that shows up. So is the call initiated via GSM Network? If thats the case, how can then Facetime work on the new iPod Touch?Thanxs for your input ! MacBook Pro 2,5Ghz - 4Gb Ram Mac OS X (10.6.4)
I have a iPhone 4 (32GB) running 4.0.2 and over the past week or two I have noticed that once in a while whatever music I have currently paused on my phone will just start to play. In fact it just happened again now. The iPhone was just sitting on my desk next to me in sleep mode and the music just suddenly started to play on it. It happened a few days ago as well when I was walking around a store with the phone in the side holster I have. I have tried rebooting the phone (even a hard reboot). Is there some app that might be causing this? Many times it has happened the iPhone is in sleep mode (screen locked) so it isnt as if me touching it in some way would do that. It happened again today when I ran the Weather Channel app on the iPhone the iPod started to play. Very strange. Intel Core i7 920 Windows 7 64bit Windows 7
I did update of my 3G to OS4.0.1 or 0.2, after that my GPS functione gone. This is second device what Ive got from my dealer. First was with the same problem and they changed to new one. New 3G with factory settings and 3.1. worked perfectly. GPS was very precise, but now after getting 4.0 works only trinangulation. I dont want to go again to the service center. Maybe somebody has the same problem. By the way Im very angree to Apple for this. Because its not normal situation. I always trusted to Apple quality but now it seems to me its gone. iPhone3G iOS 4
I just wanted to post this topic as Im curious if the Apple monster will even read this or address them. I hope I get surprised. Apple makes, hands down, the most high quality of devices, but they tend to have it there way more than ours. I guess thats what makes them Apple. Without further ado, here is my list of bugs Ive noticed and I hope youll add to it. I would just love to see Apple address these:1. Performance issues with Podcasts and multiple-tasking. Youll hear stuttering on occasion, sometimes often while playing a podcast or even music. Ive noticed this at random and also at times when the phone locks or when switching out of the iPod.2. I just noticed this one: if you take the time to write on this exact site, you will find yourself getting lost, as sometimes the text goes on, and the screen doesnt follow it. Suprising that even on the iPhones home site, it cant perform the way it ought to. Youll also notice that below here, its asking me what hardware Im using and what OS. It should be clear what hardware Im on and even what OS Im running. Brilliant, considering this is Apple.com, I selected the iPhone 4 section, and the browser can report the os version. Oh wow, I just lost my text again and had to press the expanding icon on the bottom right of this pane. Also, sometimes i lose my text permanently where I should be able to scroll down to find it but there arent scroll bars... The attention to detail of the aesthetics of the phone cant be matched on the outside, but again, leave a lot to be desired on the inside.3. Echo for the remote callers own voice when my phone is plugged into a stereo through the headphone jack. Even when my volume is so low, I cant hear it.4. While heavily texting, if I exit out to the home screen after/during the send of the text, my phone will freeze for a good 60-120 seconds. If I press too many buttons, trying to get it to respond, it will reboot itself instead of coming back to life. Again this only happens (very seldom) when Im sending texts to multiple random people and I abruptly go home while a message is being sent (or maybe received?).5. While playing music, the quality will often drop drastically when entering a game or application that has sounds. This has only happened in two places so far. While talking on the phone, if I go to play music on the iPod to hear in my headphones, and when entering Bejeweled 2 Blitz with the in-game music off and the sounds on, while iPod music is being played. I do not believe this is Bejeweled at fault. Try it, make a call and try and play some background music in your headphones. The quality drops to a very unacceptable level.Thats actually all I can think of for now! Please fix these issues Apple and I will gain a good bit of respect, knowing you heard and acknowledged this. Also, please, everyone post your findings as well, in addition to the Bluetooth, and proximity bugs that have seemingly been addressed but not resolved. iPhone 4 iOS 4 4.0.2, thanks for the option above, and for not already knowing that.
I have a really thin gaps between the glass and metal band in the upper front and back right corner, and was wondering if anyone else has noticed small gaps between the glass and metal band anywhere on their phone. ive had nothing but crappy customer service at both apple stores near me, but was eventually told by the genius that i could come back with another appointment before the 30 days and swap for a new retail phone in the box. The only thing that worries me is getting a whole new phone with more different problems then the one i have with only the gap issue. The genius also told me that im the first one that has had this issue, yet ive seen threads about a month or so ago with people saying they had the same issue. so as an update, has anyone noticed this now?Message was edited by: xalexinchainsxMessage was edited by: xalexinchainsx 13" MBP Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Since I updated my 3G to 4.0.1 (which is what i am still running) Its been PAINFULLY slow. Texting is near impossible. Loading apps is sometimes not worth the wait. Even unlocking the phone is lagged. Is there a way to downgrade to the previous OS version? I dont enjoy my phone anymore! iMac Mac OS X (10.5) Leopard
Ive got proof that the glass shattered and im not a happy camper. I was putting something in the trunk and the phone slipped out of my hand and on to the pavement. It was in a case that cost me $35.00 I was sick, had the phone only 2 weeks and the front glass cracked. I went to AT&T and explained what i had did. They were no help here, not covered even if you buy the warranty. So they told me of a phone repair close by. They told me that they could fix it by replacing the screen and it will cost me $179.00 dollars to get it fixed WHAT. Ouch just bought it two weeks prior for $299.00 . What a the huge expense . After hearing all the pros about how flexible the glass is , dont belief everything you read or hear. I still have the phone, tucked away in my purse cause i dont want anyone to see how ugly it looks with the glass cracked. It still works so unhappily im having to make due with what i have very very frustrated. Ive owned a ipod and a previous version iphone, cheaper products by apple that were more rugged and durable, so i am not new to apple products. Perhaps after my contract is up in two years i will not rough be returning to an apple product. What a money making opportunity for a repairman, mine was a simple thing falling out of my hand but what about others who can be tuff on phones because of job, ie contruction workers, cooks etc or how about a family with young children who play a game and start running with it in there hands because a parent is chasing after them to get it back, excited giggling and putting down the phone thinking of the consequences that lie ahead just saying it could happen. I can see this happening the glass shattering. What about people with medical conditions and the phone accidently dropping beyond there control, will it cost $179.00 everytime you do it to replace the screen because afterall we signed a 2 year contract to get it for $299.00. iphone 4 iOS 4
OK, so a few days ago I finally got around to upping to iOS 4.02. The next day, I started getting an abhorrent number of dropped calls, fail to connects, no internet service, the works. Mostly while driving, making this more annoying (the little bzzzzzzzz of a dropped call in my earpiece, not so fun.I am, in fact, in possession of a clue (as well as a degree in Information Systems), so I start troubleshooting on my own. Jumping into an out of Airplane mode (force to look for network) results in a temporary fix - as in, about 3 seconds of connectivity. Resetting ALL network settings seems to result in about the same. After three or four cycles of this, the phone drops service again, but displays a message saying that it was unable to make or recieve calls, and that I needed to preform a restore.Which I did. And it worked. For thirty seconds, and then I got the same message. So I restored. Again. Reset network settings again, just to be safe.It just dropped a call on me to my mother. Im going to have a lot of fun hearing about how I hung up on her, except that I have... you guessed it, No service. No restore message though.Im using a silicone case, the phone is sitting on my desk now, wasnt touching it, let alone the antenna when any of this happened, using my headset actually, my wifes got 5 bars of tower even using the death grip, and so does my old 3G (work pays for it, so I have 3 AT&T lines) and Im less than a mile away from a tower, and we usually get really good service here. I dont think its an AT&T problem b/c my other lines are fine.Im out of suggestions. Anyone else seeing anything like this? iPhone 4 iOS 4 ?
The Shield Micra case. This was my free case through the case program. Cant say anything good about it. Literally 3 cents worth of plastic and the top and bottom are completely open and not protective at all. Opening for volume buttons is too small btw. No one with average hand size will like it. I have another clear case I really like (no brand from handhelditems.com). But I thought, well try the Belkin. A half hour later I finally succeeded in getting my phone out of the darn thing and had to be VERY careful not to damage the phone in the process. There is NO EASY WAY to take the phone out to clean. So, one word - avoid.Message was edited by: paulking Toshiba PC Windows XP Pro iphone 4
I have an iPhone3G. Have loaded the 4.0 software and everything is running through treacle, its not good, wanna go back to 3.0. This is clearly obsolescence designed in. Have two iPhones on a business contract with O2, I still have to pay the sum total of approx £245 to upgrade phones. Am half way through a 24 month contract. MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.11) iPhone 3G
Ive seen so many horror stories involving the iPhone 3G running iOS4. Is there anyone out there who HASNT experienced overall sluggishness? 3.1.2 has been great for me so far but there are a few apps that only run on iOS4 that I might like.Does Netflix run on the iPhone 3G for instance. I have put up an order for the free iphone 4 Bumper case. However, I changed my mind and went on to cancel the order before it shipped. Now I tried revisiting the program to attempt to choose a new model but I cant. Have I now lost the free casing option for good? iphone 4 iOS 4
I reserved iPhone 4 last week (in KOREA).Recently Apple announced the bumper case program, including the third party bumpers. However, as you know, it takes about 5~6 weeks to get the free bumper (with shiping) andI must use the iPhone 4 with Deathgrip problem. ITS NOW FAIR!!So, I thought some things...1. Can the third party bumper (included in Apples program) can be refunded?2. Can the bumper bought in EBAY or any other sites can be refunded? If these are possible, Im gonna order the case just right now ,and refund it.How do you think about this?Message was edited by: GalaxyMaker iPhone4 iOS 4 .

I recently bought an iPhone 4 through Bell in Canada. There are three different service providers in my area, and out of those, Bell is supposed to be the only one that will cover my area. After a full year of trying to get my hands on the iPhone, I frantically rushed home only to find that there was no service. I did some more research and found out that EVERY other Smart Phone in the area can get service except for the iPhone 4. I was told I would be able to get service and was disappointed. Now Im left with a phone that I have to drive to the next community (which is around 15 minutes away) to get service.I am disappointed in the product. I am also planning on contacting Bell. Hopefully Apple and Bell can arrange something to try and get service in the area, because as it stands, my phone is basically useless to me.What exactly should I do about this? Is there either email I can use to contact someone and try to get things sorted out before things get too late? And finally, why is it that iPhones cant get service in the area but yet every other model of phone (ie. Blackberry, Android, etc.) can?Message was edited by: iMatthew27Message was edited by: iMatthew27 iMac iOS 4
Swapped out the first because of another issue. Got a second, the screen started getting lines 1 day after I got it, small fine lines running across the screen, makes the screen look like ****! Went back a day later, they swapped it out no problem, SAME issue with the screen, and its super yellow. What in the world do I do now? I am not going to go back in there and demand for a new one again--Apple on the phone wants $30 bucks to ship another one out, what does anyone recommend? They said if I buy the $60 applecare it ships for free. What to do? MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4)
Hi, Im new to the forums as of today. I had a 3G for a while, upgraded because of the OS4 issues (to a samsung Galaxy) then went back and ordered an iPhone 4 instead because, well... I love the interface, apps, and my iTunes music that I was unable to port over. Not a fan of the mp3/computer interfacing of android phones, I think the sync stuff with iTunes is far more user friendly. But...onto my real issue/questionLong story short, I did like one feature from the Galaxy and that was to auto-reject a call with a filler text message such as Im driving or will call back, and I cant figure out how or if we can do this on an iPhone.Ive done some research on this and some google suggestions such as http://www.programmerfish.com/send-auto-sms-on-iphone-4/ say this feature is automatic on this phone since its an iPhone 4 but every time I double click the power button it just sends the call to voicemail with no such interface to send a reject message etc. Does anybody know what the deal is? Such a thing would be handy and I dont see why Apple wouldnt build this into these phones. Are these articles lying? iPhone 4 iOS 4
Hello all,I wanted to share a recent experience I had recently with my Iphone 4, since I have not been able to find a suitable customer service center to speak to. A letter of the situation will be sent to BBB and also Cupertino.About 2 weeks ago my Iphone 4 started malfunctioning, about 2 days after it turned off and never came back on. I went to the local ATT store and they could not help me but I had them forward my calls. They said I had to go the Apple store. The next day I went to the Apple store in Rancho Cucamonga and had a 2 hour wait. Once I finally got to the genius bar there was no attempt to fix the phone, I got the feeling they knew what was wrong and the fix was a new replacement on the spot. I was happy about that, all he did was swap the SIM cards and he said it would activate in a couple of hours.I left on a business trip, and after various calls with Apple and ATT they informed me that at the genius bar they had voided my SIM card instead of activating it. The only way to fix it was to go back to the Apple Store.Yesterday I visited the Apple Store in Brea, California. They informed me that the wait was about 24 hours to which I explained my situation and that all I needed was a new SIM card and re activation (it takes less than 5 Minutes). He said he couldnt help me and I told him that if had to wait that long it would be to return the phone, he said he would get his manager. The Manager turned out to be one of the most insensitive and unprofessional individual I have ever encountered. He did not cared to hear my situation and instructed me to take the next appointment at 6:10 pm the next day, I said I wanted to return the phone immediately. He said that the I would HAVE TO TAKE THE SAME APPOINTMENT TIME TO RETURN THE PHONE! I felt like exploding on him but my 5 year old daughter was next to me and wasnt worth it.I have an appointment tomorrow in Rancho to return the phone. Ive reactivated an old account with a previous carrier and even as I typed this on my Ipad I have such a bad taste for their customer service I feel sick to my stomach. Apple has great products but such arrogance will only make you lose more customers. IPad
The Messages app (SMS) on my iPhone 3GS running either 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 occasionally fails to display the Messages and Edit buttons when looking at an SMS thread. There is no obvious proximate cause for this failure. This makes SMS non-functional as I cant exit the current SMS thread. (I note I am still receiving them - just cant view them.)I can fix the problem by double tapping the home button to bring up the multitasking bar, and quitting the Messages app there. Then, returning to the Messages app displays both the Messages button (return to the list of all SMS conversations) and the Edit button.Any advice for a real fix to this problem? Thanks,Doug iPhone 3GS iOS 4 Problem with both 4.0.1 and 4.0.2
Hello. I am debating if. Should upgrade from my iPhone 3g to a 4 or wait for the new iPods and get some htc or samsung. I am currently using a 3g prepaid because I am in high school and have to pay for my bill and I no it would be expensive to get an iPhone 4 without a contract or paying the monthly fees iPhone 3G iOS 4
Has anyone noticed that when you have a number of apps running, and you continuously tap the x to close out of them, the iPhone freezes even though the icons keep wiggling. It takes the phone about 2 minutes to unfreeze, or I have to restart it. This doesnt only happen if you have a ton of apps running, sometimes it happens randomly when closing out of just one app. It happens on my iPhone 4. Software bug? Anyone else having this issue? macbook pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)
I just got back in country, and downloaded the case app to take care of the 3 iPhone 4s I bought on day one. What do I find? Sorry, though the program is still on-going Ive passed my time limit. No cases for you. This only reinforces the lesson -- dont get the product early, because youll be saddled with more problems and less chance of a solution. iPhone 4 iOS 4
Is there any way I can get my case? I purchased my iPhone at full price in the UK and brought it to Malta. I tried searching for it in App Store but to no avail. Turns out that since Im in Malta, I use the Maltese App Store and since Malta hasnt had iPhone 4 officially released here Im stuck. Rumors have it that Malta will be getting iPhone at the end of September but by that time, Apple might stop the case program and Ill be past my 30 days after purchase. Seems not right that someone who paid full price (not subsidized in any way) cant get his case. iphone 4 iOS 4
My question has probably been asked before but after searching the forum for a few days, I am unable to get a clear picture so I hope someone can help me.I just bought an iPhone 4 and would like to know what is the correct way to migrate my iPhone 3g backup onto it.I completely understand the part where i need to do a backup of the old one and then restore from this backup onto the new phone. My concern though is I have not upgraded my iPhone 3g OS to iOS4, it is still running on 3.1.2. And after reading the stories of how other iPhone 3g users have experienced having really slow phones after the upgrade, I am hesitant to do so.So finally here are my questions: 1. Can I restore my iPhone 3g OS 3.1.2 backup directly onto my iPhone 4? 2. Or is it essential to upgrade my iPhone 3g to iOS4.01 first to have a compatible backup to restore from? I have read somewhere that a user had to wait 72 hours when they tried it(?).3. And does anyone know when iOS4.1 or iOS4.02 with hopefully the fix for the 3g laggy issue is coming out? Please help! Thanks! =D iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.2
I have Comcast Cable internet that I access wirelessly through an AE base station. All my devices connect by wifi. When I run a speed test on the 2 computer, an imac and MB Pro, I use Speedtest.net flash website. On there I see the download speeds that I expect to see with my service level. On my iphone and ipad I use the speedtest.net app and always see lower speeds at least on the download side. Now everything works well, no wifi issues and the speeds are very good - I actually have no complaints at all. Im just curious why there is such a difference. I realize that each time one of these tests is run its just a snapshot of that moment in time and will vary and that a flash website may well give a different result than an onboard app. But Im still curious and wonder if anyone has an explanation I might understand. I purchased a new iPhone 4 on Aug 24 from an AT&T store and that evening downloaded the app to order my free case. I got an error that said my phone isnt eligible. According to the Terms and Conditions my phone IS eligible!!! Well, after being on the phone with tech support for 2 hours (talked to 3 different people during that time), I was told that Id receive a call on the evening of the 25th with info on when the case would be shipped. I didnt get a phone call so I called back on the 26th. Ive been on the phone with Apple for an hour now (have talked to 4 people) and still dont have this resolved!!! What is going on here? Something seems fishy in Appleland. Also, the app program give a phone number to call if there are questions. Ive been told by 4 people at Apple that the number is wrong! What!?Am I the only person having this problem? MacBook (black), MacBook (white) Mac OS X (10.5.1)
