My iphone was completely submerged in water last night. I put it in rice. Everything seems to work properly. But there is what appears to be water under the iphone screen. In the very middle of the water, it is blue. What does thar mean? Will it go away? Can I help make it go away? Will my Apple insurance plan cover this? Please help!!
I dropped my phone into the toilet. I got it out as quickly as possible, but it did get submerged. When I got it out, the screen turned on by itself, but I didn't think much of it, and I stuck it in rice for a few hours. When I went to check on it, it seemed fine, as the screen turned on and all the buttons seemed to be working, other than being slightly laggy. The volume buttons worked, but the didn't seem to do anything to the volume. The speakers worked as well, and even the vibrating part did. the lagging didn't get any better though, so I decided to see if reseting it would work. It turned off fine, and the apple symbol came up, but that was where it stopped, and it now will not turn on. I checked the LCI in the headphone jack and the charging slot, and the one in the headphone jack has a tiny pinkish-red dot, and the one in the charging slot doesn't look red at all. I stuck it back into the rice just in case. Can anybody help with my situation?Just some info, up until I put my phone into the rice the first time, I was mostly in full panic mode, and even after I put it in the rice, I kept checking to see if it worked by pressing the sleep button. I'm pretty sure I did everything I'm not supposed to do, but what can I say?
On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iPhone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iPhone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour. About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iPhone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode. Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button. I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iPhone 4S when the next generation iPhone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady
I got a small amount of water in my iphone, at first i thought it was ok but after about half hour the water had spread through my screen, and it started going blotchy and cloudy. The touch screen still works, speakers, charger, camera etc. Only thing is phone wont turn off? I tried the rice for a few hours but didnt do much. Does the apple warrenty cover water damage if not how do i get this repaired?
I dropped my phone in water and pulled it right out it still works but put it in a bag a rice to try and get the water out. Is my efforts wasted and I just need to go out and get a new phone
I have a truecaller app but it don't show names for unsaved no. When they calls as I was used in samsung for example and when I asked the apps co. They told me that apple don't allow them to do..so please could u guys manage this
Hello,I am newbie, so sorry if I am asking stupid question, I do have iphone 4 and I am very satisfied with it. Just I wish it had a better camera. Is there any way that I can take off iphones camera and swap it with a camera from samsung galaxy? what about swaping with iphone 5's camera?thanks in advance
There seems to be a lot of people out there dropping their Iphone in the bath so I thought I would share my experience of fixing mine.Firstly if its in warranty consult your dealer - if this doesn't help try the following: A lot of people say stick it in bags of rice / silicon, etc but here is a quicker, more reliable way which is far less likely to contaminate one of the connectors. You do not need any special equipment. Make sure phone is off (If you can still see the screen) - hold sleep and Home for 5 seconds and tap the red off button that appearsPop your oven on a low heat ( less than 100C) for 5 minutes.Wrap your phone inside a sock, doubled over a couple of times so the phone is well protected.Turn oven offPop phone into oven for 30 minutes or longer preferably You could use a hairdryer but be very careful to keep it moving to avoid any localised heat spots that could damage components. If the phone got really soaked you might want to jump down to taking the phone apart - if it is still full of water powering up or charging could result in further damage Let the phone cool and try to power up, if nothing happens check for any signs of water vapour still in the phone and repeat if present. Otherwise try charging and powering up Still no success? this step requires a very small crosshead (some need a 5star) screwdriver, don't compromise and try and use a larger one, damaged screws will cause you even more expense. Very cheap on ebay. Unscrew the 2 small screws at the bottom next to the speaker, slide the back up and lift away. Unscrew the very small screw holding the battery connector in place and pry up the connector (lift the side nearest the edge first). Be careful not to lose the screw or the small metal bracket under the connector. Use the plastic tab sticking up half way along the battery to ease the battery out (usual there is a small amount of glue on them). This will reset the phone (you will not lose anything but the phone will hopeful power up when the battery is replaced). This is a good time to try the drying procedure again to ensure there is no more moisture present. Reconnect the battery screw everything back in place and press the wake button. If this has not succeeded you may need specialist help to test more components.Good luck ( and I cannot stress enough - keep the temperature low when drying)
So, I was in my bathroom just about to get in the shower while listening to music, being the clumsy person I am, I ended up dropping my iPhone in the toilet. I quickly gathered the iPhone, and placed it in rice. I waited 3 days, and if I plug it into my laptop, it turns on for about 10 seconds (only logo appears) then it shuts off. I was wondering if I visited the Apple Store, would they replace this? I have an iPhone 4. Btw, I don't have a warranty.
Can anyone help, how to import the contacts to I phone from samsung kies backup file
I try to avoid updates on my iPhone because it's either hit or miss and after the latest update that was released a couple days ago, my worst fear happened. It updated then I left it alone to update. After over an hour I come back and the "connect to iTunes" image appeared and nothing worked. Once iTunes was restarted it said I needed to restore my phone to factory settings. This is ridiculous and very frustrating. I'm not going to lie, several of my friends have samsung Galaxy S3's or Notes and they seem way more verstitle and reliable then my iphone. Any suggestions?
I have a VZW iPhone 5 activated as my main phone, I also have a VZW samsung Galaxy Nexus that I use a sim adapter and swap the sim to. When I swap the sim from the iPhone 5 to the Galaxy Nexus for a day or so then back to the iPhone 5, I cant pickup LTE signal, it just stay at 3G. Although if I put the sim back in the Galaxy Nexus it still picks up LTE. The only way i can get the LTE back on my iPhone 5 is by going into VZW and getting a new sim card activated, in return kills my old sim card. Any ideas or help?? Thanks
So my iPhone slipped out of the back of my pocket & into the toilet. Now its been water damaged for about 3-4 hours now & at one time it would allow me to make calls & text messages-the normal- but now that I am home from work, i have a red screen showing on my iPhone. Theres no way that I can take it apart as of now because of the stores being closed already. & the nearest wal mart is pretty far. What do I do? Its currently in a ziploc full of rice. Will that at least do SOMETHING? HELP! HELP! HELP!
Hy, I was trying to syncro the new samsung PC with my iphone 5. Now, phone does not syncro and music in the phone does not play. Any tip?
Hi today I dropped my iphone 5 in a bowl of water, I put it into a bag of rice to dry up and when I tried to turn my phone on I am getting this red screen. Is my iphone completely toast?
Hello community. I do get the fact that there is million of threads, but I want to know the opinion of others on this particular case. I dropped my phone into the toilet (luckily, it was clear) and immediately got it out. As I had no experience with these kind of accidents, I actually didn't turn off the phone. I used a towel and then I wobbled my phone to get rid of the water. Then, as the phone started rebooting itself, I dried it with a hairdryer (yes, I'm an idiot) and used a vacuum cleaner to help the proccess. It kept saying this error [NAND] FileFlashAndMedia or something like that, so I turned it off for good and tried to restore it - I started getting the -1 error. After several repetitions, iTunes finally started restoring my iPhone 5 and everything was back to normal. But then I came to the dreadful realization that the screen does not respond. Everything is ok - all the buttons, the display, even the sound seeems to be fine. So after these 15 minutes of panicking I started to read articles and watch videos of other people. Put the phone in a bowl of rice, sealed it and I turn it on from times to times to find out if the screen started responding. Any suggestions? Do you think there is a possibility to recover it?
I was in the bathroom and my phone fell into a bucket that had a bit of water in it. I immediately took it out and my sister blew in a few areas and I dried some holes with tissue and tested to see if anything wasn't working (sound basically. everything was working fine, though the sound was a bit low) and then I turned it off. After maybe 2 minutes we put it in a bag of rice. Throughout this whole event the LED light in the back has been on and it still is. It's been an hour since it happened. Why isn't the light turning off and do you think my phone will be fine in a couple of days? The thing is I literally just went to the Apple store today to replace the iPhone I had that didn't let me turn my phone off and on (the power button was basically stuck).
my iphone 5 got water damage the screen turned red i put it in rice for a day it came back to life but now it will not boot up past the apple. i restored it but it still will not boot past the apple what am i to do?
7 days ago my phone fell into a pool, I spent many precaution and put it in rice for 3 days no power. And work like a champ again for the last 4. Last night the screen shut off while the phone still is working. I can't see what I'm doing, but I can play music... Plug in password etc. I've already tried pressing home and power button but the reboot always shuts off after a few seconds... Any ideas?
the man on the phone told me to jailbreak my iphone so i could get iOS 5 back.. but by jailbreaking a phone you lose the warranty anyway... considering this is apple's fault (iOS 6 has ruined my 4s capability to connect to wifi) ( and my girlfriend has as 4s on iOS 5 and that still connects fine ) i think they should be doing more i am a long time apple customer but i think this has made me want to swap back to being a windows user and maybe getting the samsung or HTC
my iphone 5 fell into the toilet and is now sitting in a bowl of rice. after two hours i noticed the screen is a solid red pink color. what does that mean?
Can I schedule calls and block unwanted numbers like what my friend can do on his samsung s3 is there a app with out jailbreaking my iPhone , thanks
Iphone 5 was dropped in water, pulled out immediately. I am able to turn it on and I reset it and put inndry hite rice overnight. It still won't work. Any suggestions?
Hey there - wondering if this message my iphone is saying (in a red banner):"Phone Disabled, Try again in 45 minutes" could be from getting it a little wet the other day?It was in purse with bottle water with top not tight... phone acted funky for awhile, then fine.Five days later, this msg and it won't stay off when I turn it off.I put it in a bowl of rice today in case it's still wet...Any ideas? Thanks!K
I just purchased the iPhone 5 coming from a samsung Galaxy S3. Where I work, I do not receive cell phone service so I rely heavily on the WiFi to receive emails and iMessages. I've noticed that if the phone sits for a few minutes, the wireless will shut itself off and as soon as I press the home or power button, the wireless kicks in and I get a flood of iMessages and an e-mail chime. On the samsung, there was an option to keep the wireless on all the time and my question is: Is there a way to keep the phone connected to a WiFi connection all the time so I don't get a delay in messages and emails? I know battery life will suffer and that isn't an issue to me. I just need it to stay connected so I'm not replying to messages 2 hours later when I pick up the phone. Thanks,
I got my very first iPhone in November 2012 I was totally converted, until I starte having issues with my iPhone 4S... I made an appointment with the Genius Bar in meadowhall sheffield who after 3 appointments and the phone still being broken did indeed replace the handset. The new handset I now have has started coming apart... Its never been dropped or damaged but by the way it's going in about a months time the phone is going to be in about 4 pieces. I went to the Genius Bar who told me it would cost me £139 to replace! But hang on this is not my fault and I have like 300 days left of my warranty!!I then called apple support who told me the guy at the Genius Bar had logged the visit as accidental damage and that I had told him I dropped the phone!! The lady on the phone made me another appointment at the Genius Bar and sent with with a case ID and said they would replace the handset as because of the phone coming apart I was now experiencing signal issues, dropped calls and a lot of hardware issues... Only to get there and then tell me there's nothing they will do unless I pay £139!!!I'm absolutely disgusted!!! This is not my fault.. It's a faulty handset!!! But yet I'm supposed to be £139 out of pocket!!! Makes me wanna actually walk into store put the phone on the side and tell them where to shove the phone and go buy a samsung! It's ridiculous!!!I really don't know where to go from here!Someone please help me :(
Hi, I Bought my iPhone 5, 2 months ago and I accidentally dropped it in a sink full of water. I retrieved it very quickly and it turned out that the screen was still on. So I quickly dried it and just left it for a few minutes (thinking my iPhone is okay). But when I opened my iPhone later on, I realised that the right side of my screen became unresponsive to touch. Sometimes it will recognise it, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it types out a lot of letters even if I only tap the screen one. Anyone can help me what's wrong with it and how I can fix it? Should I bring it to apple? How much will it cost to fix it? Or should I just leave in in a bag of rice? Thanks
I currently have a several year old samsung Flyte phone. I am included with my wife's account under the AT&T family plan. My "line" has no data plan linked to it - her iPhone 4S and her sister's iPhone 3 do. The contract with AT&T for my phone/line expired several months ago. I'm thinking about upgrading to an iPhone 4, but I don't want to give up my existing phone number. And, I understand that the iPhone uses a micro SIM card - different that other manufacturer's phones. I'm pretty sure that I'll need to add a data plan to my "line" - not a big deal. Ideally, we want to add another line to the wife's plan (without data) and give the samsung phone to her mom, who lives with us. But, I do not want to loose my phone number. We want my new iPhone to have my existing phone number and the samsung for her mom to have a new number. Is this possible?
I got my factory unlocked iPhone 4S November 2011 and now it won't turn on. It may have gotten into some liquid and was working on my car ride home, but the next morning it would not turn on. I noticed it was a little moist on the charger when I unplugged it. I tried plugging it into my laptop and a message appeared saying something about how the USB drive was drawing too much power and was disabled. Thinking it could be water damaged, I put it into a sealed bag of rice for a day and it still won't turn on. The water damage indicators are not red.
I have a 2013 Buick Enclave with Pandora and Stitcher on the nav screen. With my samsung S3, Pandora automatically lit up and worked. with new iphone5, I was told I need to connect USB port to car and phone and start Pandora. That worked and the icon on screen lit up. but as soon as I removed the USB cord, Pandora and Stitcher greyed out and stopped working. I know it's supposed to work on the car's nav screen once I hardwire it (at least that's what I was told), but as soon as I disconnect, they stop working through the car. How can I install Pandora and Stitcher on my car WITHOUT having the usb cord attached? the idea is to be able to use the car's touch screen to control Pandora, but with the phone plugged into the USB port, I can only use the phone to control Pandora, which of course is dangerous when driving! And it worked correctly with the samsung, so I have to believe it can work with the iphone 5! Right? Thanks.
I purchased a new samsung laptop with windows 8. I have an iphone 5 and Im trying to sync the two. I deleted itunes from my old computer b/c my assistant was taking it over. When I check anything in itunes it give me a message that itunes will over ride my iphone with what is on the computer, which is nothing. I cannot figure out how to do this without deleting everything. Please help. Thanks.
Since the ios6.0 update, deleted contacts can't be deleted from the new message case. It is amazing that more people are not aware of the problem and are speaking out about it. As a professor, I have new students whose contacts I input into my iPhone each semester after sending a text mail the contact cannot be deleted from the "new message" cashe. It can be deleted from contacts but remains in the cashe. The only way to delete the cashe is a full restore. Resetting does not even work. Restoring is a horrible way to delete contacts permanently. I have contacted Apple repeatedly. They are aware of the problem but do not seem to be concerned. With each update, I expect the bug to be fixed. I hope to get the attention of samsung with this. I know they could create another embarrassing ad campaign and Apple will resolve the issue in seconds. Apple is not the great company it used to be.

Hi! I fell into a pond yesterday at around 10am with my iphone 5 in my shorts. I was in the water for about 3 seconds, got back up and turned off my phone. I wiped dry and let it air dry for about an hour. When i got home at night, 1030pm, i checked the forums, and found the keep it in rice fix. So, i took out the sim and placed it in a ziplock bag with rice. Then I found a link in apple support on how to check the wet indicator of my iphone. Checked it, and it was still white. How long do I have to keep it in rice? I have a 730am alarm set for every morning, but it did not go off this morning. Was that normal? I have my fingers and toes crossed while i am typing this. Hope everything will be fine.
Does anybody have trouble pairing your iPhone or iPod or iPad with a Bluetooth speaker system?
it's that correct ??? " The Apple A5 is a System-on-a-chip package on package designed by Apple and manufactured by samsung. It combines an ARM Cortex-A9 with a PowerVR graphics processor. The chip is launched on the market with the release of the iPad 2 tablet. The Apple A5 was also inserted into the iPhone 4S and the iPod Touch 5th generation and then the iPad Mini. The successor to the Apple A5 is A5X a simple "evolution" integrated into third-generation iPad. This chip has a CPU "double heart" and a graphical "quad-heart." ????
My phone just fell in a tub of water, fully submerged... I grabbed it IMMEDIATELY and wiped it off with towels, tried to get into every little spot. It's working JUST fine, but then I read to turn it off, don't plug it in, take it apart and let it air dry. Well, I don't know how to take it apart, so it's currently sitting in a bag of rice. HELP!!! what am I supposed to do now???
Please help me anyway I can to fix my iPhone 4 with the water damage and possibly fried logic board. How much does Apple charge to fix a water-damaged iPhone or are there any other sites or stores that fixthe water-damaged iPhone 4? The leave it in rice for 48 hours did not work and it still is not turning on. Please help me fix this ASAP.
So i dropped my phone in the toilet last weekend and let it sit in rice for a week. When i took it out, it wouldn't charge enough to start up all day, but then suddenly started charging and worked completely fine all day. When i went to charge it tonight, it did the same thing where it wouldn't charge enough to power up even though it had 45% charge when i plugged it in. Any suggestions about what's wrong with it?
Hello. So a few days ago my phone accidentally fell in water and was put in rice immediately after the fall. The phone is working perfectly fine as if nothing ever happened except for the home button. I have to constantly shut off and turn on my phone when I want to start/exit an app. At first I thought it was no biggie but now it's becoming annoying having to do it constantly. I tried holding down the power button and then the home button to see if it will work but nope! I then tried inserting the charger in the port and pressing the home button but that didn't work either. I, finally then tried, doing a full restore of my phone hoping that will work-yet still nothing. So after all these attempts and getting nowhere - I guess I have no choice but to take it to an apple retail store. My question - if anyone has had this experience and took their phone to an apple retail store did they have to replace your phone entirely or was the button "fixable"? Or if anyone has been through this before and has done something I haven't tried to get their home button working, any tips on what else I can try? Although I have warranty on my phone and I've only had it for a few months, I doubt it will cover this so any idea or estimate of how much I'll possibly need to pay? Thanks for any help possible!
I dropped my iPhone in the swimming pool yesterday while I was at work (I work in a sports centre), it wouldn't turn on after that. 3 hours after the accident I took it to my local Vodafone store since I had originally bought it from there and had insurance on it. They said they would send it off for repair for liquid damage. They said I would lose all the data on it. They took it in and gave me a temporary phone to use in the mean time. However, after I came home I was googling liquid damage and I heard about the home remedy of keeping your iPhone in a bag of rice and waiting 3 days, I am now thinking that I should have tried this befor handing it into the store who thought it had lived its last. Should I get it back from the store before it is sent off for repair, to try this? It might be a way of saving my data. Thanks
Painful farewell AppleUnfortunately, the Apple no longer offers products awesome and unfortunately no longer apple interested in customers and move Apple to Warranty place Guaranty this will make us we drive to samsung and this is sad because iphne 5 can not be compared with samsung phones do not want new innovation we want a product we love farewell Apple will Buy Galaxy s4
Here's the story. I dropped my phone in a swimming pool. It did not start at first. I layed the phone in a bag of uncooked rice and after 5 days it seemed like it was going to startup again. However something was wrong with teh battery so we ordered a new battery. The phone started up with the new battery but it wanted to go into that recovery mode. I did go through the backup procedure in iTunes and then recovery. The phone is now starting up fine but it is blank from apps and photos like a new phone. I did not have any photos backed up over iCloud before this happened. However shouldn't the photos still be on teh memory card of the phone? I thought the recovery process just resets the phone to factory standard, not deleting my photos. How can I get my old photos out of the phone? They are not in the DCIM when I log on through Windows explorer as well.
Being the young tech savvy kid I jumped straight in for the iPhone 5 and frankly was quite excited and amazed but later annoyed my charger and cable were perfectly fine when taking out of box but a couple of weeks later I had problems my iPhone would charge for about 2-3% but then stop and wouldn't start for about 2 mins, I would take it out and then putting it back in but the it just doesn't charge I have the latest software iOS 6.1.3 and thought that would fix it( thinking it was software glitch like many other glitches I've had) but it didn't quite frankly I am definitely thinking of a samsung s4 as they promise more for less and dont have same problem also I am a dedicated customer and have a iMac desktop, a mackbook pro retina and a iPad mini and the Genius Bar me too wait for 2 weeks until they can get to me and that is public holiday so in theory it's about 2 1/2 weeks and I probably need a new cable but am not keen on getting new lightning cable for $30 thank you and hope u can give me answers to my problem soon thnx
Hi all, A few weeks ago i put my iphone 5 in the washing machine for about 30 seconds. I got it out ASAP but it was still noticably wet. I quickly padded it down and put it in a bag of rice for several days (luckily it was already out of battery when it went in). After i had left it to dry out i plugged it in only to find the lightining cabel symbol comes up and it will not charge. So what i have done so far; Changed battery- new battery still will not charge. However, when i did put a new battery in that held some charge the phone did turn on and everything was working fine.Tried new lightning cableChanged dock connector- still would not chargeRemoved battery and cleaned entire phone with 99% isopropyl, dried and phone still would not charge. I'm pretty lost here??? If everything was working fine when i put the new battery in apart from being able to charge i asssumed it must be the dock connector but apparently not. I have heard it might be something to do with the USB/Power IC on the motherboard?? But im not sure if these can be replaced. I would just like to try everything myself before taking to apple as i know they will charge me a small fortune for out of warrenty repair.
My phone got knock into water yesterday. I've had it in rice for over 24 hrs now but now it won't even charge! Need help, suggestions!
My uncle gave me one of his "broken" iPhones. Well when I got home that day I tried to power it on and the battery to wall charger came on the screen so I plugged it in and it stated charging so I left and came back to get it to watch my brother play video games in his room and when I plugged it in nothing happened. I eventually got it to work and one night I fell asleep listening to music on it and when I woke up there was water or something wet on it. The flashlight was flickering high and low like the battery was dying it was hotter than **** and no music was playing. I got up and went to the bathroom, got something to eat and came back and the light was not flickering it was still VERY HOT literally I could not pick it up it was so hot. So I put it on the charger and held the home and power buttons down to try to hard boot it but nothing happened like all the other Times it froze. My sister was playing with it a couple of days ago and banged the back of it into a corner or something and broke the back glass and I would try the rice thing butt one screw is stripped and I can't get it out to take it apart. If you have read all of that and can giver any tips or tricks on how to fix it or if can be fixed. PLEASE!!
On Wednesday night I was on the toilet playing on my phone. After I was done my phone slipped out of my hands and in to the toilet. I quickly grapped it out of the toilet before the toilet flushed it down and immediately started drying it off. Now I was a little bit drunk that night so I wasn't completely in my right mind. I started to elevate it and lay it on a towel. I also knew from before that rice would help with drying it off. Not knowing at the time it had to be uncooked, I cooked a bag of rice for about 8 min and drained as much water from the rice as possible and let my phone sit in it for about 10 min. Well then I learned it had to be uncooked. So I put the phone in uncooked rice after it sat in the cooked rice for about 5-10min. I let the phone sit in a bowl of uncooked rice for the whole night and the next day at about 12, I took it out and tried turning it on. It thankfully came on, but needed to be charged, so I charged it via the wall for about 15-20 min. After checking it I saw that the apple logo was being displayed so I let it stay like that for about a couple minutes. Seeing nothing else was happening I started pushing the power and home button down at the same time to restart it. That did not work either and soon I was getting the message to plug into iTunes, which I did. Once I plugged it into itunes I put it into recovery mode to restore. That was working just fine. It started to extract the software, verified the restore with Apple, and started to prepare it for restore. Well after 1-2 minutes of preparing i got an error message saying iTunes could not restore it because of error 1603. I looked up this error and it says something is wrong with my windows operating system. I disconnected all USB drives, closed everything down, and restarted my laptop. I tried restoring again and the same error message came up again. So I decided to let the phone sit in rice again for about 24hrs. Now I have tried to restore it about 6 times now and keep getting the same error message. I have also recently taken out the SIM card and tried restoring it but the same error message and the same point in the restore process. Anyone have any tips? I have looked into taking it to Apple, but my only option would be to buy a refurbished iphone. I wouldn't mind doing that, but I don't want to spend a lot. I originally purchased the 64gb white iPhone 5 from Apple and am not sure if they charge more for the 64gb model.
I have an Iphone 4 with ios 5.1.1. About a month ago, my iphone suffered water damage.I turned it off and nursed it back to health using the dry rice method. 2 days later I switched on my phone and it seemed like my Iphone returned to normal.3 days ago I turned my phone off for what i'm pretty sure was the first time since I recovered it from the water damage. Iphone won't turn on without being connected to power, although it says it's on 100% battery when it does turn on. It goes to front screen and... you know the drill, activation required message.I'm almost certain it wouldn't have happened had I not turn my phone off. My phone is unusable.I have managed to bring it to DFU mode and have the option to recover if I upgrade to ios 6, however before I do it I want to make sure this is the only necessary step to take. Reason being I enjoy using ios 5 and don't want to change it. any ideas on how to rescue my iphone without upgrading the operating system? I'll appreciate your help!
Hi, my iPhone 5 fell out of my back pocket into the loo yest. It turned itself off after a few mins, was towel dried and has been in box of rice for 24hrs. I just checked the LCI tho after readign some info on here and it's red, is there any point in keeping in rice for a week or should I just go to Apple shop? Is it likely to come back to life if LCI has gone red?? Thank you :-/
