problems sending emails with iphone 3G and outlook exchange

I have a problem sending email with exchange. Receiving and answering mail works fine and calender updates work fine. However when I initiate an email from the phone it syncs and ends up in the sent folder in the computer but never reaches the recipient. I have tried this many times with different recipients and phones. It only happens from my iphone and ipad. I followed instruction from Support on how to create a ringtone for my iphone. Only after I downloaded and paid for 6 song from the iTunes stores, then tried to convert each one to a ringtone, did I find out none of the songs I paid for were available to make into a ringtone. What rip!Any ideas as to how to find out if a song can be made into a ringtone BEFORE purchasing it from the iTunes store? G4 iOS 4 32 gig

problems With Syncing Apps To iTunes iphone 3G

I am weary about backing up my phone now. Somehow the box got unchecked for backing up my apps. Now when I check the box, it gives me the warning message that it will not save any of the applications that are on my phone. It will replace the apps that are on my phone with the original apps that are on iTunes. So I back up everything else, because I dont want to lose all my apps. Any ideas??? It says the same thing if any of the boxes are unchecked too.Im also having problems updating to the new OS 4.0.1 It will do a backup at the beginning when prompted, but then it just sits there for hours and does nothing. The status bar stays in the same place. I also dont really want to do it if Im going to lose all my apps and everything else. I have an iphone 3G at 4.0.1 , which recently started not displaying email message body for all messages.First few lines of email display OK, as per normal, in the email list.To recover the missing email body, a simple reboot of iphone is sufficient.I can reproduce the problem by:1) Sending an email with a PDF.2) Downloading email onto iphone.3) Save to ibooks.4) Ta Da - missing email body in all messages.I have done this experiment on ipod, and iphone 3GS.(I note that other iphone users have previously reported problems with various PDF readers)...so...somewhere a bug in the PDF readers and theway they interact with iphone mail app.Please fix ASAP!nickf 3G iOS 4

OS 4.01 customer care iphone

There are so many problems with 4.01 that you would think that Apple would be trying to reassure their customer that there was a fix coming for Bluetooth, speed, over heating etc, or, could they make a step back to 3.3 possible. I recently updated my iphone 3G to iOS4 and there were no problems at all. Now after updating to 4.0.1 I have noticed my phone keeps saying this accessory is not compatible with iphone, every time I place my iphone in my apple universal dock. Many people have similar problems: No gprs/edge, or no 3G, after upgrading their iphone 3G to IOS4. I now seem to have found out what happens: My Phone only has gsm signal coverage when a data connection is running (like 3G). So either I have to be downloading something continuously, or activate 3G, which seems to have an active connection all the time. But a soon as i loose 3G data connection, the signa l lvel drops to no service. So if i reboot the phone with 3G deactivated, I actually get full GSM coverage right after boot - if I then initiate a data connection, I can maintain the strong signal. When the data connections stops, the signal level starts descending towards no service. Maybe others could check out this theory?And meybe if Apple reads this, they might understand what happens to people loosing data and gsm signal on the iphone 3G? iphone 3G iOS 4

Attempted to downgrade iphone 3G to 3.1.3. Now iphone wont restore

Hi everyone. I attempted to downgrade an iphone 3G to iOS 3.1.3, and had planned to use iRecovery to get the phone out of recovery mode (once the restore was complete). However, the iPhones screen froze while restoring, about 2/3 of the way through. In iTunes, the blue progress bar was pretty much complete. So Im not sure what to do. After a while had passed, I unplugged the iphone and it went back into recovery mode. I attempted to restore from the current iOS 4.0.1 firmware, and the same thing happened. I also attempted to exit recovery mode via iRecovery, and that didnt work either. Anybody got any ideas? I managed to downgrade a different iphone 3G and didnt encounter any problems, so Im not sure why this has happened. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Unable to send Pictures anymore iphone

Hi, Im new to this thing and just made an account. Ive been having a problem with my iphone 3G. Today I realized I cannot send pictures anymore, when trying to send a photo to my cousin. I then noticed that when Im writing a text, the little camera icon to add a picture is not there any more. I asked my parents if they somehow canceled sending pictures but they said they didnt do anything. Im confused why this happened. Is it because I upgraded to 4.0.1? After the update my phone has become REALLY slow and crashes a lot. Also takes a **** of a time to view a text message. How can I fix these problems? Windows Vista

I just downloded the new 4.0 software update for my phone and it uploaded onto my phone with no problems. But now, when the restore phone process started (loading APPS) Itunes froze and then an error message saying it could not connect w my phone popped up. I reset my phone and I cant get passed a screen that has the Apple logo on it and a status bar. Something starts to download, but then it freezes and reboos itself. I have created several different ringtones to use on my iphone. I have added them and they show up under ringtones under my phone in ITunes but when i go into my settings, it only shows that i have one custom ringtone. Hi, I have an iphone 3g. Sometimes the error message repeats but the number letter combination alters. Each time so far I can click on cancel and it has gone on to sync to itunes ok, but I am worried about why it is doing this and any long term damage. iOS 4 on 3G-Voluntarily Reverted back to 3.1.3 iphone

About one week after installing iOS 4 on my 3G and creating folders for all my apps (which all fit on one page by the way after consolidating), I began to have the same problems I am seeing reported by many others, i.e. poor battery life, phone randomly rebooting, unacceptably slow response to typing, apps slow to start and close, etc. I chose to find a safe and legal route to taking my phone back to iOS 3.1.3 and have been happy every since. What pains me, and others have claimed the same, is that Apple didnt offer this to its already valued and mostly long-term customers, once it found out these problem were pervasive. There is no time to wait for a fix, if one is actually coming, when you depend on your phone for daily personal and business use! Having to seek out a third-party that solved the problem is sad and unnecessary. The willingness of someone else to respond, and provide instructions at no cost to reverting back to any previous iOS that was safe, is clearly what Apple lacks. The public, in essence, provides a response that a corporation could have fixed with little effort. This says to me that Apple is only concerned about iphone 4 users, whom they have clearly disappointed as well.Im glad jailbreaking has been deemed legal. While I wont do it myself, I think it is a big step in getting Apple to acknowledge and hopefully address the clear fact that people wont stand not only for slow response time but also for limited usability, deemed appropriate by Apple themselves.Up to iOS4 I was happy with Apple. Post iOS4, I question their motives and true commitment to the loyal customers they serve. I guess their true character will shine through in the weeks to come as users like myself refuse to be held hostage by our phones and demand change and response from Apple. Cant extract ringtone from text message iphone

My son sent me a ring tone via text message. The last time he did this I was able to touch the ring tone on my screen and save it to my phone. This time it wont let me. The only difference I can see if that this ring tone was made using Quicktime. Is there something I should be doing to save it to my phone? Bluetooth not working like before Ios 4.0 on 3GS iphone

Since i have the update from soft 3.x to 4.0 i have problems in my car to connect to the Car Bluetooth Car-Kit.I have a original BMW bluetooth Car-Kit wich was working perfect.Since the update to version 4.0 most of the times it would not connect automaticly with the Car. so the connection is not always there.After a little bit of pressing settings (bluetooth) on the phone the connection is made.I am affraid to update again to the newer one 4.01 because maybeit will not working anymore.Before the update to 4.0 there was no problem at all , everytime when in the car the connection was made automaticly without any problems. Now it is 2/10 auto connected.Already removed the connection and paired it . but the result is the same. No stable automatic connection. With errors and lost connectivity problems while downloading I would appreciate if there was a possibility to use a download manager. Not that I require them myself, but getting voiceover turned on seems to be impossible.I open Settings->General->Accessibility->VoiceOver, then I flip the VoiceOver switch on. iOS 4.0.1 breaking my 3G iphone

I ran through a full charge on my battery today in less than 4 hours........while the phone was in STANDBY mode.My phone is taking twice as long to perform tasks as it was with 3.1.3 and freezes and crashes much more frequently.Why doesnt Apple allow me to downgrade to a working piece of software instead of forcing me to use a broken piece of garbage?Why doesnt Apple allow me to restore a current backup (taken from 4.0.1 iOS) to a phone in 3.1.3?Your software restrictions are breaking my phone and my user experience has dropped to an all time low because of it.Are these battery and performance problems going to be addressed in future releases or are you just going to slowly break my 3G until I am forced to buy a new phone? Ringer not working with incoming calls sound not working on games iphone

Hi, my phone isnt ringing when I get calls. The sounds for games are also not working. Sounds are turned on in settings. The sounds work when I change the volume, etc. in the settings panel. The ringer is not turned off...checked that. Sound on movies and music is working. What magic switch am I missing?! This has not been a problem before. I starting using the alarm on the phone last week, but I dont think theres a correlation since I turned off the alarm to test and still didnt have any ringtone with an incoming call. Blurry photosvideo scan lines dropped calls proximity sensor messes up iphone

Hey guys,The photos and videos Im taking with my new iphone 4 are very hard to get sharp. I have to be PERFECTLY still in order to get a photo that is sharp enough to use. In addition, most of my photos are very grainy. On my previous 3G iphone I did not have to stand so still and the photos were not nearly as grainy.The screen on my iphone 4 seems to have visible scan lines/refresh lines I can see on the screen in certain applications. Does anyone else have this problem?Lastly, Ive disconnected/dropped/lost around 95% of the calls Ive made on this phone. I even have a Microcell in my home. Speakerphone, up against my ear, it doesnt matter. I dont have a case since it hasnt arrived yet, but just holding the phone drops my signal from 5 bars to 2 when Im only 6 away from my Microcell.Should I consider returning this phone and getting another one? Notes are resetting and deleting themselves iphone 3G

Hi,Im not sure if this a part of the iOS 4 update problems or not, but I have a 3G iphone and lately whenever I use the Notes app it will reset or delete the note. What I mean by reset is that I use the notes as a to do list and when I finish something I delete the item from the note, but lately when I go back into that note to add or remove something it has changes back to first version of the note that I wrote.I also had some appointments disappear from my Calendar.Is this part of the iOS4 problem or something else? I think I fixed my OS4 upgrade woes iphone 3G

I was having horrible problems with my fairly new 3G iphone since I upgraded to OS4. Apps would take several seconds to launch; apps would crash. The last straw was when I tried to answer an important incoming phone call, and the slide to unlock ignored me!!!Anyway, here is what I did:1) Did a backup of the iphone using iTunes2) Did a restore of the iphone (using the backup I made in step #1)3) Did a reset (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)When the iphone restarted, everything is fast again. The only thing I had to do was re-enter my wireless network settings.I think Im going to avoid the Folders feature of OS 4 (where you can arrange apps into folders). Im not sure if that is what caused the problem, but I can live without it, and I dont want to take any chances. The iphone is working great again.Anyway, I hope this helps. Upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0.1-Wost Mistake I Ever Made iphone 3G

Last week life was good. My iphone was my best friend. It was dependable, reliable, it was my best mobile phone ever. I praised the iphone to everybody in my work, friends...etc...greatest thing since the internet...and then earlier this week, life with my iphone came crashing to a halt. My iphone is now acting like a crappy smart phone running windows circa 2003. It doesnt seem to know which way is up.My outlook and gmail accounts dont sync. When I try to access my email the app crashes after a few seconds, when i charge the phone it overheats (alot), and I have to charge it because my battery now lasts only about 3 hours, where before the upgrade it would last 2 days without a charge. Other apps are acting funny, internet surfing is slower. These problems are all a direct result of my upgrade.My iphone has become an unreliable, unpredictable piece of garbage overnight. I dont want to restore and lose my 100 plus contacts. Frankly now I dont trust the iTunes restore/upgrade process at all.Thanks Apple. For taking what was the best mobile device in the world and turning it into something less. What a waste of time and grief this has been.GOD....if there was only an option to restore my iphone to what it was last week. I want this FIXED NOW!

Custom Ringtones iphone 3G

I´ve been trying to use an old ringtone on my iphone and it doesnt want to work. The situation is as follows:Ive had itunes on my laptop (PC, not imac) for some time. I had purchased a snng from itunes, put it on a CD and then using an mp3 editor, created a ringtone which I was able to use on my old Sony Ericsson.My boss then, very kindly, bought me an iphone 3G, which by the way, I love.I thought it would be easy to use my old ringtone. Just re-import it into itunes and then sync it onto the iphone and load it as a ringtone. This didnt work. I love my iphone and I like my old ringtone. Reception problems after Upgrade iphone 3G

I recently updated my iphone 3g to the iOS4 and have been experiencing the same issues as many others have mentioned here. My question relates to reception as I have noticed a marked decline in reception for my phone 3G since upgrading to the new iOS4. Have others experienced the same issue? I work from my home and have gone from decent to good reception (3 - 5 bars and no dropped calls) in my home to a single bar and dropped calls whenever I attempt to use the phone. This issue is not limited to my home as I basically get a single bar reception level virtually anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area. Have others found this to be the case? Is there anything that I can do to fix the problem? If I decide to upgrade to the iphone 4, will I still have the same issues in terms of reception?Any thoughts / advice would be helpful. I wish I hadnt bothered with 3.0 iphone 3G

Since the update here are my problems, anyone else experiencing these?1) Phone takes ages to boot up, get a black screen and wait for longer than the 2.02 software for the iphone to restart. Even after I did a complete restore.2) iphone very sluggish, especially with the search tool.3) I understand that 3rd party developers need to make their apps 3.0 compliant but I have too many apps that now crash on launch.4) Odd effects whilst watching online video (YouTube), videos that were fine before now plays twice as fast.5) WiFi connectivity very weird, connections that worked fine before now dont connect unless I go to settings and find them again. Some do connect then suddenly drop the connection whilst browsing Safari is not connected to the internet.6) The general feel of the phone is somewhat slower and the battery life has certainly decreased for me.I so wish I could go back to 2.02 - any advice here is much appreciated. I have trawled through pages of posts here asking how to do this but its all a bit convoluted. 3G wupdated OS4 SLIDE TO UNLOCK EXTREMELY SLOW iphone

My iphone 3G has gone berserk since the updated version of software. It hasnt done anything but problems: slow applications, slow GPS navigation, oh yeah did I mention programs freezes in the middle of a job and kicks me out from times to times. Hi, I hope someone can help me!I got my iphone 4 today and I came home to find out I cant hear any incoming/outgoing calls. It says it is calling/connecting to the person but there is no sound, not even a static sound. I know my speakers work because it has a ringtone. problems with Unlocking iphone 3G

My iphone is running 4.0.1 firmware and Im having a problem with the locking feature, which has never happened before.When I press the lock button at the top of the phone, It locks like its supposed to but then around 10-15 seconds later the screen flashes up and show the slide to unlock screen. if I leave it for a while( around 20 seconds) it locks back again. but then the problem repeats it self over and over again.Its seriously killing the battery life.Ive tried turning the phone on and off, resetting the settings and even did a factory restore but it still keeps happening.Id really appreciate some help~Thanks Windos Vista iOS 4

iphone doesnt appear in iTunes 3G

Since a few days I have a new iMac. Almost everything is working fine, no problems. But for my iphone (3G): it doesnt appear in iTunes. I removed iTunes, following instructions on the apple support site, downloaded it again, after which iTunes recognised the iphone once. Next time I started computer and connected the phone, the same problem. I called the apple supportcentre, no help there. I called the telephone company and was advised to do a soft reset on the phone and reset the netword settings, which I did. But no change. After IOS4 battery display not update until power offon iphone 3G

Wondering who else has this problem .. since the IOS4 upgrade the battery display will not update unless I turn the phone off and then on. Very annoying .. along with all the other problems. Sure wish i could go back to previous verions ... iphone 3G iOS 4

Dropped Calls And Message Sending Failure iphone

For the last few months I have been having a multitude of problems with my iphone 3GS. About 80% of the time, I cannot complete a call. Even though the coverage bar in the top left says I have full coverage and am in a 3G area, when I try to make a call, the call screen stays up for maybe 15s -20s and then it just says Call Failed. When I try again, I get the same thing. After that, if I put the phone in Airplane Mode and then turn it off again, the phone just searches for a network for minutes on end, making me think that even though it says I had full coverage, it actually did not have coverage at all, hence why the call failed. When I actually do get to make a call, more often than not, the call will drop and I will be greeted with the same Cal Failed message on the screen. With text messaging, I have the same problem. I try to send a message and the send status bar just moves across to the right and stops before the end. It stays there for about a minute or so and then it just says the message sending has failed. I have called Rogers a few times and reset my phone and done everything they have told me and it has never resolved the issue. It is because of that I am beginning to think that maybe this is a hardware issue. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, how was it resolved? iphone 3GS iOS 4

iphone 3G Software Update problems-What we Apple

Been having problems with my iphone 3G ever since i updated the software and finally went into the store today to speak with someone.Firstly, i was told that the software isnt for the iphone 3G and that it says this in the small print - my question then is why does it prompt you to install the new software?! surely apple are clever enough to make sure it doesnt install new software on phones that are not compatible!?Second, once I spoke to someone else he advised that it was a common problem and as yet they havent got a solution?! So i am just meant to carry on with a substandard product that is continually dropping calls, not allowing me to hang up calls, behaving really slow and interfering with my business?!They told me a phone restore would help and sent me away, Ive done this twice now and it didnt and it is still playing up. Dont waste your time if they have told you to do that. It doesnt work.Usually you get great service from apple but they have really dropped the ball... why would they allow for a software update to 3G phones if it slows it down and messes up your product?!My phone contract is up for renewal next month and was going to get the new iphone 4 despite the problems but may now opt for a Blackberry... NEVER thought i would say that again!My question is - what is going on with Apple and what do they want us to do? iphone 3G iOS 4

Keypad active intermittently during calls when using phone as handset iphone

I just switched my phone (iphone 4) due to problems with the keypad/audio source being active during calls, basically I am sometimes able to dial or switch modes with my face even on the new phone. Streamlining ringtone process iphone

Are any of these things possible?1) Managing my ringtone settings on my computer (Windows Vista)2) Change the ringtone for multiple contacts at one time (i.e. instead of doing them one by one)3)Group Contacts and assign ringtones to the entire group4) etc some other way to do this so that I dont have to change every single contacts ringtone one at a time anytime I cycle in new ringtones.The first cell phone I ever owned, over 5 years ago, had the ability to group contacts, the ability to assign ringtones to said groups, and plenty of other things that made this whole process easier. I find it really annoying that in 2010 I have to go through my hundreds of contacts and change each one individually. Any answers or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Windows Vista

How I select ringtone I have purchased from iTunes on my iphone 3G

Just for starters: I have already searched the Apple Discussions forum, Google, and Yahoo for the answer. I am NOT IN THE UK. I downloaded a ringtone from iTunes. It was not a song, it was listed as a ringtone. It is now in my iPod on iTunes, but it is not available to select as a ringtone.
