3.0 problems crippling phone iphone 3g

In the last several days, my iphone 3g has exhibited following problems:--mail messages are showing blank in the mail list.--apps refuse to update, even when Im logged into iTunes store as directed.--you tube videos dont play--the restart balks a lot by hanging up with apple on the screen.Im assuming this is some kind of 3.0 bug. Use iphone with different computer

I have been syncing my iphone with my main machine at home (dual G5 running 10.4) with no major problems but now I want to start syncing with a Macbook pro (intel running 10.5) I bought from work.Maybe I should have used the migration assistant to move stuff over to the MBP but i didnt and I have been using it for a while now so I dont want to loose anything Ive put on it data or application wise.Now I want to start syncing my iphone with this MBP.Ive got my address book on the MBP thru mobleme but my calendar wont sync for some reason which Im still trying to figure out.My question is what is the best way to get my phone syncing with new MBP without losing anything?Can I just copy my iTunes music folder and moble apps folder over to the MBPs itunes folder?thankspete Too Many<g> Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Podcast Syncing problems since 3.0 update iphone 3g

In the past, when I was done listening to a podcast on the iphone, it would no longer register as a new podcast and thus when I synced with iTunes, it would remove the podcast from the iphone and register it on iTunes as not new as well. With the settings set for 3 most recent new, the iphone would consequently pull any new podcasts from each that i was subscribed too. This worked perfectly fine from when I bought the iphone late in 08 up until I received the 3.0 update. Now I have to manually go into iTunes and mark a podcast that Ive listened to on the iphone as not new so the sync will remove it. This seems like an absurd step backwards for a supposably large UPDATE. Did the 3.0 update restore a setting that I am missing? Ive tried checking all my preferences and triple-checked my iphone podcast settings iphone 3.0 iphone OS 3.0

Backing up 3g from 3GS iphone

I recently upgraded from my 3g iphone to the new 3GS. However I am sending my 3GS in to Apple because I am having HORRIBLE battery life with the 3GS. I can actually watch the meter go down before my eyes. I tried turning off all the suggested battery drainers but still no luck. I have my old 3g and was gonna use it while my 3GS was being replaced/repaired by Apple. I was wondering if it would be safe to restore my iphone 3g from a back up of my new 3GS? I know there are other functions on my 3GS that are not available on my 3g and wonder if it will cause problems? I may have to place the hold on my credit card for a new 3GS if this will cause major problems. Any suggestions? Windows Vista

Sync and Wifi problem iphone 3g 3.0

So Ive been updated to 3.0 since launch day, and Ive been having these problems.First, when I plug my phone into my pc to sync, sometimes (more often than not) just disconnects and reconnects in a loop, and will do so until I unplug it. Ive tried every port in my pc, and it still does it. I switched it to my laptop, and no problems. Ive reinstalled itunes and the mobile device drivers, and cant think of what else I can do to fix it.The other problem is that my phone wont stay on wifi when it is connected. It will continually switch on and off, and my browser and apps will tell me that I dont have a connection to the internet, even if I have 3g service while the wifi is disabled. Just started doing that with 3.0. Ive reset my phone, powered on and off, and factory restored it twice. Not sure what else I can do, thanks! iphone 3g iphone OS 3.0

Group MMS SMS iphone

Hi,The majority of the topics I have come across involve group MMS problems because US carriers dont support MMS. However, carriers here in Singapore do, and Im facing certain issues after upgrading to 3.0.When my MMS is turned on, and I try to send a GROUP SMS, it changes to GROUP MMS. When I do send the message, only the FIRST contact receives the message. When I do intend to send a GROUP MMS, also, only the FIRST contact in the list receives the message. This is extremely frustrating when you want to send group messages.I know you can get around GROUP SMS by turning off the MMS feature. When I do that, all the members in the group SMS receive the message. But its a real pain when I actually do want to send MMSes.Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Stupid O2 rule on iphone 3g replacements when faulty

HII got my iphone 3g in FEB 09. and I was having a few problems and the aol account password problem. So last week I took it in for repair.I got another iphone back which from what I can make out is a refurb.it starts with a 5 on the serial number.but the point is this iphone did not even last 24 hours. i was able to restore it after it restarted and locked up at apple boot logo. i was playing the game cops and robbers on it at the timeAther the rstore i started the reinstall of apps etc and it restarted part wa into the install. and locked up againThe day after I was able to enter recovery mode again and restored it again. but his time when it came to install apps it did a kernal panic and put up a load of text.I told 02 i wanted a brand new handset as I was not happy the one i got was faulty more than mine was. but i was told NO, 02 do not give out new ones as it was in there terms that they do not.Is it me or am I getting conned I am not willing to pay £810 for what is a secondhand phone.I keep trying to look for the terms on 02 website but it keeps saying its down.And what really stinks is I was told that if I had taken out insurance with 02 i would have got a new iphone. iphone charge flickering when connected to computer with more then 2 USB 3g

Hey guys, Im having a serious problem here. I cannot connect my iphone to my computer anymore. Im running Windows 7 RC. Whenever I plug my iphone in to the USB ports, it flickers constantly, charging/uncharging. I started messing around with it and discovered that I have 0 problems if only 1 other USB device is connected. Unfortunately that means i have to remove the mouse or keyboard.I can have 5 other devices connected to USB and they all run flawlessly. BMW Bluetooth Voice Dialling iphone 3g

Hisorry I cant search the forums to see if this topic has been raised before at present. I have a 16g 3g iphone updated with OS 3.0. Yesterday I took delivery of a new 3 seriesBMW with factory fitted Bluetooth, and voice dialling functionality through the steering wheel. Although my phone pairs with the car and the phonebook updates the car phonebook I cannot get the in car voice dialing to work. When a number is entered correctly, and called up through the system it begins the call but the iphone display shows unknown application and a big green Dismiss box and disconnects. On my old car (a 2005 3 series BMW) again fitted with their Bluetooth the voice dialling worked perfectly - at least on the 3g not on the first gen though. It did accept incoming calls. I was led to believe from 2006 model BMW the full iphone features worked. Has anyone any knowledge of similar problems? Is there a work around? Whos issue is it BMW or Apple? Or is it just something thats occured since the OS 3.0 update? I have e en today got the BMW Apple iphone cradle for the car. Proper iphone Ringtones 3g

Can anyone tell me what the score is with getting decent ringtones onto your iphone, on the apple site it suggests that via iTunes, this can only be done in the U.S Store. I just want to get a tune that i have downloaded and use part of it as a ringtone. ringtones overwriting iphone

i used to have this problem a while ago and just gave up on it but i decided to try again now that i downloaded the new firmware and the problem still persists. when i drag a custom ringtone into itunes to put on my phone it works perfectly fine but then when i go to put another one on it just copies over the first ringtone and then makes itself again. so instead of having 2 different ringtones i have the 2nd ringtone twice and the first one is gone and if i try to do another song it copies over the first 2 songs and then makes another one of itself so that i have 3 of the same ringtones.i have the most recent firmware and itunes .. any help on how to get multiple ringtones? or why this is happening? custom Windows XP

Custom ringtone settings not saved iphone 3g

Anyone know if there is anything that can be done to preserve ringtone settings? I installed the 3.0 update, and everything went flawlessly, except (just like other updates) the custom ringtones I have assigned to a few directory entries changed back to default. Not really a big deal for me because I only have a few assigned (my immediate family). But it will be a real pain when I apply the update to my wifes phone. She has a assigned a unique ringtone to nearly EVERYONE in her directory <sigh>.I am extremely happy with the new update, but it seems like such a small data element would not be that hard to backup. Bad and Good upgrade news. iphone

Some days ago I downloaded and saved OS 3, electing not to then install it.This morning as soon as I connected to iTunes the phone immediately started with the upgrade without any intervention on my part. iphone 3g SMS Issues Post-3.0OS Upgrade

**Please note: I am trying to send just regular text messages, not picture text messages.**After updating my iphone 3g to the 3.0OS, I noticed that my text messages started to get really flaky (i.e. could not send messages, only receive). I thought that Rogers (Canada) was having difficulties due to the iphone 3.0OS and iphone 3GS releases, so I waited patiently and thought this issue would resolve itself.I have spent over an hour and half on the phone with Rogers (Canada) representatives and the only thing they have done is told me to “Reset Network Settings.” Finally, after a lot of troubleshooting I have figured out what my problem is. Hopefully someone can shed some light on the situation.1) In order to send a text message to someone outside my area code, I MUST have no prior conversation with them stored on my iphone. I can send unlimited SMSs to them, but as soon as they respond back, I cannot simply touch reply and respond to them. I have go into Messages, touch EDIT, then delete the entire conversation. This means I have to do this every time someone from outside my area code SMSs me. This is not only annoying, but defeats the whole purpose of the “conversation/chat” style of the iphone.2) If I am outside my local area, then I must perform the above steps in order to send a message. I MUST have no prior conversations stored in my iphone.3) Everything is fine and dandy for calls within my local calling area. No error messages.I am wondering if anyone has these problems as well. I did not experience any of these problems prior to upgrading to the 3.0OS. Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.***P.S. I have also tried manually typing in the phone number, by using both 10 digits and the “+1”-then area code. iphone started overheating and other issues 3g

As the title states, my iphone just started overheating (since yesterday)...I read that many suggest that it could be due to the new OS, however, I upgraded the same day it was released (17th june) and didnt have any problems till yesterday...Now it overheats especially when its plugged to my mac for recharge and the recharge process is taking forever! Audiobook doesnt remember playback position in 3.0 iphone 3g

So I started to write this topic and my auto-complete finished it for me, but placed 2.0 at the end... so I guess this isnt all that new an issue...Is anyone else having trouble? I havent quite pinpointed when it forgets the playback position, everytime when it charges in the computer, even without syncing, itll forget where I was in a book, and sometimes when I charge it otherwise and sometimes when half a day has passed and Ive used other apps... I dont know exactly what the cause is, I know its not any of the file settings (Im an old pro at listening to audiobooks , thanks anyways) I guess Im just curious if anyone else out there is having problems and wanting to get the word out to Apple. Hey guys, I have another problem!Im currently on my third iphone 3g (white).When I was given my third iphone in the Apple Store, I instantly noticed it felt different. I was pretty sure it was a refurb, I have no problem with that, but I felt that the casing wasnt on right. The camera wasnt flush to the back, it stuck out, and so did the headphone jack. I thought I could get used to that, so I just left it, but recently I noticed that the screen moves when pressed in the top left corner, and on the bottom right corner below the screen, funny marks have appeared, like chips beneath the screen. I look after my iphone very well, I never drop it, but I get loads of problems. I was wondering whether anyone would know whether Apple would let me trade it in, to cancel this ridiculous termination fee for my O2 contract, and let me pay for a 3g S. I loaded the new 3.0 software a few days ago with no problems. Today I found that my turned off/ idle phone in my pocket had gone to the new Apple recorder program and has been recording for 58 minutes by the time I discovered it. Wifi grey iphone 3g

I am on 3.0 and now my wifi is greyed out. It was working fine with 2.2.1 but ever since 3.0 it was giving me problems and now i cant access it completly. I have tried reseting network settings and then it comes back but doesnt pick up any routers and when i restart the phone it goes back to grey. My main computer (containing my iTunes library) is having a Windows Installer problem thats keeping me from installing iTunes 8.2, which is necessary to update the iphone to OS 3.0. I can use a second computer to install 8.2 and upgrade to OS 3.0, but if I do, will I be able to sync the phone with my iTunes library on the computer containing iTunes 8.0.2?If no one knows the answer to the above question, are there any problems with downgrading the phone back to OS 2.2 if I perform the upgrade but cant sync? I have the iphone 3g and I recently updated to the 3.0 software and alot of times throughout the day the message pops up that says that this device doesnt work with the iphone and asks if I want to turn on the airplane mood ( I do not have anything plugged into the phone). I also noticed today that when I play my music that there is no sound coming from the speakers ( I dont have headphone plugged in I was just trying to hear it through the phone speakers like I could beofre). iphone issues with wifi connection 3g

while connected to my home network internet connection does not work properly. Most of the time safari will work fine, although sometimes it can say cant connect... but the most annoying of all is that itunes almost ALWAYS gets the cannot connect to itunes store error. it will often work ok when i first load it, and then if i click say the updates or seach buttons it will try to load and then fail, or if i try to install an app it keeps saying cant connect with the option to retry.. if i retry 10-15 times eventually it might work..my home network is fine. i have a few laptops that connect to it, and other iphones that connect to my network experience the same problems.my router is a billion 7500G iphone OS 3.0

iphone freezes and crashes after 3.0 upgrade

Screen goes blank after 2 rings when phone locked iphone

This might seem like a dumb question if this is how the phone is designed to work, but when Im using the phone, and the screen is on, the answer/caller id screen stays on the entire time the phone is ringing (as I would definitely expect). However when the phone is locked, the slide to answer/caller id screen goes blank after 2 rings, but the phone continues to ring the final 3 rings (my ringtone is Old Phone). So the only way to see who is calling or answer the phone if I dont get to it by the second ring, when the phone is locked, is to click the home button. I know sometimes people come to forum to see feed back on everyones experience on updating to new firmware. I know I do. But typically only folks with bad experience post, so I thought I would post how my update went (Good - No problems). 1st let me say that when I do updates thought iTunes, I do Download only, I dont Download and install. I then do the Install when it is finished.Here is my experience, which I posted on Facebook:My iphone 3.0 update review (on a iphone 3g) Im always a bit worried that something will go wrong when doing a major update like this, but all went well. Ill start with my complaint, and its more for AT&T. Please turn on the MMS. Cut/copy/paste - Oh thank you, thank you. And finally we have it. It works great. Spotlight Search - As far as I can tell, works as designed Voice Memos - Cool app, works as designed, You can do tweak the start and end points, but dont think you could cut out a middle section. I wish the update included the Voice Control that the 3GS had. Oh well Calendar improvements - looks good Stereo Bluetooth - Not tested Auto Wifi login - Worked great this morning at Starbucks, downtown Houston in the Tunnel. Yes, Yes Notes Sync - I may need help on this one, I think you have to have Outlook, or Outlook Express to sync to a PC, which I dont use at home. Emailing Multiple pics - Yes, finally, no more emailing one pic at a time from my iphone. I think there is a max. of five at a time. Dont know if I would try this on EDGE. Probably would be a bit slow. Landscape typing - works (was not high on my wish list) Looking forward to some apps with Push Notification!! iphone OS 3.0

upgraded to 3.0, and now on my primary email account, i cant access my account. But I do get incoming mail. I just cant search my folders without getting a Cannot get mail error. It says my user name or password is incorrect, but they are not.Ive already done a complete restore to fix other problems.I use my email all day, this is very annoying. iphone OS 3.0

ringtone just vibrates iphone

I find it hard to believe that the new iphone, or any iphone for that matter, cannot do what my past 3-4 phones can do... all i want is to have all my alerts set to vibrate (calls, texts, emails, etc)... is this possible??? please? dell pos iphone OS 3.0

Incoming call lost on 3.0 iphone 3g

Cannot receive PHONE calls and SMS iphone

I have an iphone 3g with the OS v3.0. Upgrade went great with no errors whatsoever. When I leave the phone alone idling for a while, if anyone calls me or sends me an SMS I do not receive it.As soon as I make a call or sent an SMS I immediately receive all the SMS’s I didn’t receive. It’s like they were all sitting in a queue somewhere. I can also receive calls.It’s like something is stuck, but as soon as I sent an SMS or make a call everything get’s back to working again. But if I leave the phone alone for a while and call it from my home phone the phone call cannot be completed. I have never had these problems with v2.2.1 before, and my SIM card works perfectly on my Palm Treo.Any idea what the problem could be?Thanks Ultra 24 Quad

Reverting to 2.2.1 iphone 3g

Is there any way to revert back from 3.0 to 2.2.1?After an upgrade, turning off Push, and lots of futzing around, the iphone seems a lot less stable than it was before. Apps often just crash out after opening for no reason, and this persists after a reset. Ive run into the problems others have with Wifi access, and so on.Life is too short to keep trying to fix it; 3.0s not ready for prime time. Using it is feeling like a chore rather than fun. How can I get it back to 2.2.1?Thanks

Upgraded to 3.0 and now cant respond to texts iphone

I use to be able to respond right away to texts sent to me but with the upgrade, I no longer can respond to them. I have to go and start a brand new text, instead of go into the ongoing conversation that I have with that person and typing my response. I can only view the conversation but I can not respond to the ongoing conversation. Also I use to be able to add comments to my friends facebook comments in my text messages app. but now it no longer lets me do this. I now have to go onto the computer to make comments to facebook. Anyone else have these problems?

Downgrade iphone

This 3.0 upgrade is a mess. The phone has lost all its smothness with everything from scrolling to typing and everything is really intermittent and very very slow.One of the worst thing, and Im not joking, is that Need for Speed has become unplayable.Now Apple Im really tired of your schizophrenic policy (see the alumnum MacBook), very microsoftish like so give me a downgrade tool or solve this slow-motion problems!!!And I invite all the users that have experimented the same problems to raise their voices too to stop this way.I dont want be pushed to buy a 3gS to have a functioning 3.0. PowerBook 12 Mac OS X (10.4.11)
