Cant see recent backups when trying manual backup or restore iphone

My iphone crashed the second day I had it (2 weeks ago). I immediately did a restore from the summary page in itunes. I have since had other problems caused by an application. All apps and functions working fine right now, except at this point I see no other backups listed other than the one done on the second day when I look in the backup list accessed by starting the MANUAL restore process. I dont even see any manual backups I have performed. I synch my iphone once or more per day. Because of this (I think) I am losing all app data whenever I have to restore after crashes because I cant choose a more recent backup to restore from. How to manage ringtones Timing of what ringtone not syncing iphone

Does anyone have any idea if there is an app or a way to manage your ringtones in terms of time of the day? During work hours, I would like my ringtone to be a vibrate, or something unobtrusive, since its quiet. However, outside work hours, Id like it to be something more obtrusive so I dont miss it. This is similar to profiles for blackberry users. Any ideas? I dont see anything in settings, but not sure if Im missing something, or if there is an app that would provide this functionality. iphone 3g will not send text getting error sending message

I recently upgraded my iphone 3g to 2.2 and about a week later I was getting a error sending message when sending text messages. I can receive text just fine. I have tried restoring using ITunes and even had the ATT store tech swap the SIM card with no results. HELP!!!!!!! I am very upset with ATT and Appple. Restoring as new device it download new software iphone

Ive been having various problems even after restoring from backup multiple times. At the Apple store, I was told to restore and select setup new device instead of restoring from backup, incase my backup was corrupted. The rep told me that iTunes would download fresh copies of the operating software, firmware and all apps. Is this true? At no point during the process did iTunes appear to be downloading anything. Hi allHaving problems charging my iphone when conected to my JBL On stage IIIp portable system. At first it worked fine but a day later although the speaker works fine it will not charge my iphone and invariably puts out a message saying the device is not designed to work with iphone giving the option to go Airplane mode.Im guessing the only way to charge the iphone is through the USB on my laptop iphone

poor service iphone 3g

I would like to say that i was quite unhappy with the customer care. I have been an Apple customer for years, and as a teacher I fitted out my previous school with apple computers and currently trying to do the same at my current school. On of the points i use when convincing admin to purchase apple equipment is due to the good customer care I have received in the past, however no this no longer seems to be the case. My iphone has a crack on the screen that has been there almost since new and it has not caused any problems. Now 6 months later i am having what I believe to be an unrelated fault I am being told that I am no longer covered by any warranty. I explained to the service people that there was no previous faults that may be related to the crack, but was told that they only have my word for that and that my word was not good enough. I understand that you must have policies in place but I am a long term supporter of your product and very disappointed. As admin staff know of my phone (I use it for much business use at school) and i return to school in a few weeks saying that it failed and apple would not cover it under their warranty, my standing argument for apple due to your quality of care will be useless.

Reboot iphone once day

So I got my new 3g iphone one week before XMAS and after a couple of days I noticed that: 1. my phone is unresponsive after finishing a call. (requires a reboot occurs at least once a day)2. Apps close all of a sudden when in use. I took my iphone to the apple store last week to the King of Prussia store and I was told that this was occurring because the iphone software was corrupted and that a system restore would fix this. A couple of hours later the same problems kept occurring. I restored my phone two more times at home, but I still kept having the same problems. I also synch my phone daily. I made another appoint for today and a different guy at the genius bar told me that this occurring because my system memory is low and that caused my reboots. He even said that everyone that has an iphone or any smartphone should reboot their phone daily. I was really puzzled and upset that he told me I have to reboot my phone once a day. I have never heard this before and I wanted to know if other people have been told this, or was this guy just full of it. My iphone was replaced and I have not seen this problem occur so far. Dropping Calls iphone 3g

This problem just started yesterday morning. I am unable to make or receive phone calls on the AT&T network. When receiving a call, the phone says I have full signal. When I try to answer the call, the signal bars fall to nothing and then it searches for the network. This happens on both the Edge and 3g areas. When making a call, once again the phone is telling me I have full signal, then it drops to nothing. The call is failed, then searches for the network.I am able to text message, the data is not working. I have restarted, reset, removed the sim card. Im out of ideas. Just a side note, while on GPS in 3g areas, my current location is telling me I am in Cleveland. The problem with that is I live in Delaware. I am not sure if these are related problems.Does anyone have a clue what the heck is going on with this thing. I really dont want to replace it again, this being my second iphone. Some small problems with my new 3g iphone

Having some small problems with my new iphone, nothing major, just annoying.1. When I plug my iphone in to charge/sync my Adobe photoshop keeps trying to download the photos on my iphone, which causes an error message from Adobe that it cant download and it stops all syncing and removes my iphone from iTunes. I have to unplug and reinsert USB cable and sometimes it works ok and sometimes I have to reinsert again. Also when charging, it will disconnect, reconnect and the samething all over again, photoshop trying to get photos and an error message.2. Cant send e-mails via 3g? I have custom tones that say you have mail or message and would like to change them. I can not find if it is possible to do this. I have many problems using my new 3g iphone and its really starting to annoy me.1) When you go into a lift and the reception of the phone cuts off - It takes absolutely ages for the signal to be restored. Around 5-10 minsSometimes if you leave your phone idle on the table and the reception cuts off - it could take up to 2 hrs....and i end up with 15-20 voice messages.Is it just my phone or does it happen similar to other users as well?and 2) - by far the most annoying is the texting function. I can text and receive a text from someone no problem but when they reply back.....I cannot see their name. e.g. I go and Text John on 12345678....and then when John replies to me...I get the number 44-12345678...(if in the UK). The phone doesnt recognise that it is John...When you hit the call button - it doesnt call John cos the country code should be +44.Same thing with Hong Kong ppl texting me - always I get replies starting with 852 instead of +852. I dont end up seeing who from my phone book is texting me and have to end up looking up the number..any remedies?Thanks Other OS

iphone top sleepwake button not working Apple Logo screen at startup

I have the original iphone. I have two problems, both just happened tonight at the same time. For seemingly no reason just my iphone external top sleep/wake button is not working. I tried powering the phone off and back on. I tried resetting my iphone, and restoring it. I made sure my iphone software is up to date. None of these remedies have fixed the button. The button doesnt look broken, it pushes in and out, it just doesnt work anymore. Second problem is, after I power my iphone off and then back on, the Apple logo screen will continue to flash on and off indefinitely. The only way to get my home screen to appear is to connect my iphone to my computer. Then it wants to sync. After syncing it then asks if I want to power off or cancel. Huh, why does is it doing that? To turn my iphone off I am pressing my Home button down until it shuts off, since I cant power off with the top black button. Is that the reason my phone is having the second problem, because I am powering off with the Home button? Could it be my second problem is not a problem?My iphone 1 year warranty is over. I cant call Apple Care, there is no apple store near me. I need a solution I can do at home myself. Please help. Even if you think the answer is obvious please suggest it to me. Before tonight nothing was wrong with my iphone. It all started after I let my 6 and 7 year old nephews play with Google Maps on my phone for like 10 minutes - supervised. Battery Life suddenly very bad iphone 3g

Hi all --Had my iphone 3g since release day. Have not had battery problems (not anything out of the ordinary) until a couple of days ago. Noticed recently that the phone will often get warm even when asleep, and the battery life has gone down to ~3 hrs of very light use (listening to iPod for 20 mins or so, making 1-2 calls). Previously the phone would go pretty much a whole day of mixed use on a full charge.It almost seems as though an internet or GPS process is hung and draining the battery, though Ive reset it multiple times to no avail. Did a restore this afternoon - this also seems to have had no effect. Have maybe a dozen apps installed at most, have deleted a few that I thought might be culprits, but again no luck. Anyone have any thoughts? Can provide any additional detail. Phone is at the most recent OS, cant think of what it might be. Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I Feel Cheated iphone

Ive had my iphone since June and have been suffering far less than satisfactory results in the 3g area... I first had problems getting hold of a 3g signal period until FW 2.2 was issued. Since then I get 3g more often (although not as much as id deem normal) and have recently tried to pinpoint myself with GPS feature in the maps app.I tried several times taping on the location button (little blue crossair) and everytime id do that itd pinpoint my location but only with a circle crossair (around 50m wide). Im writting this because if I didnt have 3g this would be normal but here, Im at full 5 bars in 3g mode and no little blue GPS dot anywhere in sight, even after waiting awhile. I did a speed test in a fully covered area just to make sure and my speed is lower than 400k when it should normaly be 7megs (which in reality should roughly transfer to 3megs in my opinion).has anyone had this problem and has anyone found a solution to it ?PS: Im in the senter of town in geneva switzerland in case. iphone 3g Windows XP Pro

ok , i know there are a few posts about various problems for the iphone 3g, i thought i would just post what i think is wrong with the phone, because for £350.00 customers should get some basic thing installed/or work on the phone1, working bluetooth ,i have had my phone for 2 months now, and i can say i have not managed to connect or even find a person with my bluetooth, even of there standing right next to me ,also when u get that fixed, make it so u can send ur pictures via bluetooth, even tho the camera is only 2mp u can take half decent pic in the right light lol2,able to forward text msgs ,not much to ask i dont think... ?3,able to send multimedia msgs , come on , even cheap phones let u do that....these are my main gripes about the phone, that imho should be installed/implicated from the get go.sorry if these have been posted before, i read somewhere about a list of things that apple are working on resolving, can anyone point me to a page to show this, or is it a myth lol? iphone 3g

Lately i have been getting weird like alien scratching noises (thats the best i know how to describe it) when i call people sometimes. Its like a screeching noise that continues. Running accessory suggestion iphone

I convinced my wife to let me purchase the phone last July because I needed a new phone and iPod and this had both! I have yet to run with the phone other than on the treadmill because I havent bought an arm sleeve to use with it. On the treadmill I can set it in the holder and be fine.Is there anyone out there who runs who has an accessory they highly recommend for running with the iphone? I do sweat a lot if that matters. iphone 3g Problem-Asking for replacement

hello, first of all i live in an African Country, the iphone 3g was recently launched by ORANGE here, i purchased one from the Orange store for Christmas and i am experiencing a lot of problems.First of all when i was waiting for my iphone to be activated in the store, the employee said that they were experiencing problems with my iphone 3g, to make a long story short, they replaced the sim card and the phone seemed to work.after about a week of using the phone, ive noticed:-some of my calls are being dropped randomly-the metal frame around the plastic bit hasnt been glued (manufactured) properly, a fraction of a mm of light is emmiting from one side of the phones metal framework-my phone randomly tells me theres no service and then suddenly 10mins later i get full service (without moving the phone, the same happens with my wi-fi)-my phone randomly goes on silent (the ringtone is on the loudest, and the silent button hasnt been activted)Can someone give me advice on what i should do? do i go to ORANGE and ask them to give me a new iphone? what should i tell them exactly?its a first hand phone, i havnt dropped the phone, and yes i have already tried reformatting the phone, and i still have the same problems, and in case your wondering, NO i did not jailbreak my iphone 3g - 8GB iphone 3g - 8GB Mac OS X (10.5.6) Malfunctioning - Replacing

well it started all last night i was texting my girlfriend and then we couldnt text anymore. she called me up saying her text wont go through to my number but when she text a differnt person her text did go through. Having trouble with volume iphone

I have the original iphone...I have had no problems, until last week. While making a call I cannot raise the volume and I can hardly hear the person on the other line. I have reset the phone and nothing changes. If I connect with bluetooth it has normal volume levels loud and clear. Passcoded iphone 3g Bricked After Upgrade to 2.2

Used iTunes to upgrade iphone 3g from 2.1 to 2.2. iphone had a passcode - the cause of all the problems, I think. Upgrade went well until iphone rebooted, at which point iTunes reported it could not connect to iphone because it is locked with a passcode. iphone presents emergency call interface with picture of USB cable towards an iTunes icon - no passcode prompt.iphone is legal, iTunes/PC is latest.Tried restore via DFU. No joy. Crooked screen on new iphone 3g.

I am on my third iphone (16GB White). I couldnt find a post on this, but noticed that my LCD screen is slightly off or not square, and looks a bit crooked. The top of the LCD is leaning to the left a bit and the frame around the LCD is clearly crooked when comparing it against the black frame on the glass. Does anyone else have this problem? I just noticed this today.I will be setting up an appointment at the genius bar. problems with this phone are:1. Crooked LCD screen.2. Five dust particles under glass (first two iPhones had the same problem).3. The glass at the top of the phone sticks out significantly more than at the bottom and is not completely flush with chrome bezel.4. In the dark, light can be seen coming from between the chrome and plastic backing, near headphone jack on the top of the phone. I have read about this problem, but mine is at the top, not the left side.I LOVE the iphone. Some might say its just a phone and whats the big deal? but I think its quite more. I think Apple intended it to be free of defects, although all electronic devices cannot be perfect, and I understand that. But am I justfied in exchanging it or am I being too picky? Ive had the phone for three weeks and I just notice more and more defects with it. iMac doesnt see iphone

Just did an Archive and Install on iMac due to Security Update 2008-008 (id look for the threads about those who have had problems before installing it) and now iMac wont SEE iphone. Charges it, but iTunes doesnt see it.Im assuming because I have a NEW OS after Arch and Unstall that the settings are in the Previous system the Archive saves to the HD.Anyone help? imac Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Unable to Recieve CallsTexts iphone 3g

I have not been able to receive text messages/calls all day. My phone is on, it does not ring vibrate or anything else. I have tried turning my phone off, and back on. When I do that it shows I have a new voice mail but no missed calls.Now when I turn off my phone then back on I am not notified of voice mails, when I press the voice mail icon it no longer shows my voice mail box. Instead it starts calling my voice mail.This may all be AT&Ts fault but my mother and brother, who also have AT&T are having no problems. Anyone have any advice?

Though Ive visited the genius bar, I still have problems with the below issues...1.) My iphone 6 digit passcode (required for my exchange account) corrupts several times each day locking me out and forcing me to restart my phone, after which the code works correctly. YES Ive done multiple restores to no avail. NO its not jail broken, but thanks for your first two very clever guesses.2.) It periodically loses all reception and sits there searching for a minute or two... annoying!3.) When I receive e-mails with pictures in the message body, for example, a receipt from my Marriott hotel stay, half of the page is cut off on the right with NO ability to scroll over and see it. Also, I want a to do list that picks up from my exchange server that I dont have to download as an app. Or better yet a to do list that syncs with icalendar... weird that it doesnt do this!Why no MMS???? Learning curve on iphone

To date, I have had an iphone for 3 days now. I have learned how to 1.turn it on and off. 2.make and answer phone calls. 3.make my own ringtones. 4.make and transfer music. 5.convert and transfer moives. 6.install and use apps. 7.Turn on and off wifi for home use and away.( I live outside the true edge and 3g network so I use my wifi at home). 8.set and use passkey code. The phone is now doing what we bought it for. Calls, and entertainment. This is by no means a business machine, it is very expensive fun machine. And when you learn what it can do, and what it can not do, you will have a blast with it. The best feature for me is having wifi, and 3g connections. Now if can only pry it out of my wifes hands so I can play with it. LOL. My last comment is, I have had no problems or complications yet. The leaning curve is high, but knock on wood, no app problems. I have looked on this forum and found hundreds of thousands of posts, but then when you think there are millions of phones out there, its not so bad. Am having irritating problems with the phones speaker I cant hear anything through the phones speaker when I use the phone to make or receive calls in the normal way. Two things i wasnt aware of is the fact that it is a speakeasy and I am on a monthly account and secondly it would not work here!I called to an O2 shop and have been told that there is nothing that they can do until such time a it is registered. My problem is I am unable to register it as it requires a UK apple log in which i dont have.Can anybody help me with getting the iphone working here in Ireland? ringtone not copied to iphone Issue 3g

I bought a ringtone compatible track from iTunes today on my laptop. Made my ringtone, bought it, downloaded it to the same authorized account laptop. Went to synch my iphone to upload it. I get the message (Track) was not copied to (your) iphone because you are not authorized to play it on this computer. My laptop IS one of my authorized accounts (3 of 5). Confirmed by the ringtone I bought on the same laptop & downloaded with no issue the night before. I deauthorized the computer, then re-authorized it. I restarted both the laptop & and iphone (G3). Same thing. I had the same track already in my iTunes library from years previous from the original CD. So I deleted it, thinking perhaps it was interfering with the newly purchased track. Restarted everything & tried synching again. Same issue-no go. Help please. MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6) iMac G5

iphone Itunes help needed please 3g

I have an iphone 3g. My computer crashed & I wound up reformatting the hard drive that itunes was on. It is now having harware problems and I am gonna scrap it. I am trying to synce iphone with my other computer, but itunes still thinks it is connected with the other computer. what can I do to synce phone with new computer?I cant deauthorize it on the old computer, since it is no longer there. Pairing with Navigon 7200T GPS device iphone

Well this isnt a commonly used GPS so I probably wont get any input, but just in case, here is my problem.I paired it right out of the box no problem, it even uploaded my address book from the iphone perfectly. Very nice.But it wont remember it.If I turn off the GPS I have to pair it again. Now the GPS has a setting, remember device so that it should pair automatically the next time it sees it.That isnt happening. Best Car Stereo for iphone 3g

Im about to buy a new car stereo and really want a unit that will play nice with my iphone 3g. Ive been looking at the Alpine ida-X100, but it doesnt support the iphone natively. Ive heard that it works, but it sounds like there is the possibility of problems because its not supported.So does anyone have a head-unit that supports the iphone 3g that works well? Ive had the original iphone for about a year and today I bought the new 3g black one. Everything is fine except the fact that I have no service, whenever the phone is turned on it says: Waiting for Activation. I have been waiting for several hours and just wondering if this is normal?
