Europe trip use iPhone for text messages disabling voicemail

Ill be in Europe for ten days later this month. Id like to take my US ATT iPhone with me to use purely for text messaging. Im willing to pay $0.50 to send and receive an occasional text message, if it makes coordinating travel plans a little easier.However, to avoid ATTs egregious international roaming and data charges, Id like to disable the voice phone and voice mail capabilities of my iPhone - as if Id turned off my phone, or left it home in the US.Is this possible? iPhone 3GS will not make or receive calls.

Over the past week my iPhone (which has worked perfectly for 6 months) had stopped making or receiving calls. My phone will work one minute then 24 hours later, i get 15 voicemails and text messages at 1 time from people that i have been trying to call me. Its as if i have no reception,then it will kick back in all of a sudden. The same goes when i try to make calls. I try to dial and it either freezes or just says cant connect and returns to home screen. Its getting worse as the days go on. Ive restored network setting, updated it on iTunes but it sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. LGP1 Windows XP

MMS Messaging Not Sent on my 3GS iPhone

Last two days I am having trouble sending MMS messages. Get a red exclamation circle after the message. I cleared out loads of photos/apps/messages thinking that the phone might be a bit crowded (mine takes an age to sync). Still having problems. Then yesterday daughter and son-in-law started having the same problem. These are not messages with photos - just basic one or two lines of text. Could receive texts OK during this time. 3GS

How I make texts only vibrate and phone calls vibrate and ring iPhone

I want to set my phone so that incoming text messages make my phone vibrate without a chime and incoming phone calls ring and vibrate. I cant figure out how to do that if its even possible. Can anyone help? iPhone 3Gs

Ive noticed that normally when my iPhone is in sleep mode once I awake it before I slide to unlock I can see if Ive received a message. This morning I was messaging with someone. Left the phone alone for about 10 minutes...turned off sleep mode, couldnt see any messages initially on the slide to unlock screen. Once I did unlock, then I saw another message in the message window. Strange, any information?

Position of call contact and contact info buttons iPhone

Hi all,Ive been wondering for a while why the two contacts buttons (Call and Contact info) appear at the top on the SMS screen... When theres been a long thread of messages it would be nice if these were at the bottom of the thread, as Im not keen on having to scroll back up to call the contact...Is there a way of changing the position of these so they appear at the end of the thread instead? Why a specific e-mail already deleted in the outlook, which is sync with iphone, still showing in the iphone screen many days later despite of the fact that all other e-mails are deleted without a problem?My iphone is sync with my outlook e-mails with a corporate account, has being working perfect since than, but I have one specific e-mail that came in few days ago, answered, and deleted; however when deleted i still getting a message the message could not be moved to the mailbox trash and the related e-mail still showing in my inbox. On my iPhone 3GS I received an MMS earlier from a Sprint blackberry user. Showed up in my emails as an email, picture attached. (after fetching via sprints mail service)Later received an MMS from another Sprint Blackberry user (different person) and it came through in my messages window as a text would. What gives? Need you help My Iphone wont take calls .

HiHoping for someone to help me.My Iphone suddenly stopped taking in all calls this friday evening. I cant call anybody either. However I can send messages, use Safari (both #G and via wireless) and so on. I had my phone legally unlocked some weeks ago, but there has been no problem what so ever... This has happened occasionally ever since MMS was enabled. And it only happens when someone sends an email (not a text or MMS from another phone) to <mynumber@mms.att.net>. Not Receiving Video messages from Palm Pre iPhone

Palm recently upgraded their OS to allow people to send video messages through MMS. My friend has been trying to send videos to my iPhone but I never receive them even though pictures and regular text messages come through just fine. He has sent them to other people on other networks and theres no problem. The videos are short, 10 secs or less, so thats not the issue. Last night I received a text message on the iPhone but it appeared differently on screen - it took up the whole of the screen and had the telephone number at the top in large numbers - then the text message across the screen - and then a large DISCARD red button at the bottom... Mail keeps quitting on my iphone

I have had this problem for days now. I rang Apple and they told me to delete all the emails on my internet web mail account. This I did and the same probelm reoccurred. Yesterday I was just looking at it again on my own. I deleted the offending account on my phone. Then I went back on the web mail account. I clicked on deleted emails and of course, although they are deleted, they are still on the system. I found next to deleted emails something called 'purge deleted emails'. I clicked on that and the emails completely disappeared. The I reinstated the account on my phone. The emails briefly showed themselves and then magically disappeared and the phone is working! Yesss! Received text alert noise going off but actual msg not iPhone 3G

I have been dealing with this for a couple months now. The noise will go off once or twice a day without the actual text coming through. I am getting complaints that I dont reply to texts and I confirm that I should be receiving these texts by looking at their sent folders. I get no error message. I called iPhone support and they told me to upgrade to 3.1 software which I did but the problem persists. Please help None iPhone OS 3.1.3

I just got the iPhone 3gs yesterday and have problems with SMS. I can be sending and receiving fine and then all of a sudden the phone doesnt send the message, and i dont get messages in. Until i turn the phone off then back on they send again and i receive okay. I have had to turn it off already twice in the past hour. Any ideas on why this is happening? Please help! After I did the 3.1.3 update I am no longer able to text message pictures! I called apple customer service and that was no help, can someone help me? Im either the unluckiest person on this planet or theres just something so very wrong!Is there such a thing as using the Internet too much on an iPhone? Accessing and using apps too much?I have had 2 iPhones, original and replacement. My second one now I havent even had for a month. Ive had 2 SIM cards, original and replacement. My second one now I havent even had for 2 weeks. Im having issues with my Internet service as some of you who may have helped me in my previous posts know. I can have full 3G coverage and full area coverage yet its impossible to get anything that requires the Internet to load or work. Getting constant error loading messages that Im not connected to the Internet, when I definitely am connected to the Internet. Turning the phone off then on doesnt work. Connecting iPhone up to charge or sync doesnt work. The Internet is very intermittent and just works whenever it wants to. Have been in contact with my carrier several times, they tell me each time I have very strong and great coverage in my area and shouldnt be having these problems. Ive done nothing differnt with both the replacement iPhone or SIM card than I did with my original of both. Im only left to wonder is there any bad apps that can cause issues? I dont even have that many apps on my iPhone and have plenty of space free. I dont visit any dodgy websites, or sites that would be likely to have viruses etc. Im at the stage now where I am seriously thinking of handing back the iPhone and cancelling my service because Im paying a large amount per month for something Im having continuing issues with and its just not acceptable anymore. iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3

New 3GS iPhone-unable to send SMSTXT messages

I recently purchased a 16GB 3GS iPhone and am somewhat disappointed with the product. I am now stuck with it, so must persist !My main issue, is the sudden and inexplicable loss of ability to send text messages ! The send icon no longer illuminates (as it is supposed to) and I cannot respond to, or send new text messages. This function worked as advertised for about five days prior to becoming unserviceable.I have updated the firmware/software via iTunes and have constantly rebooted the phone to no effect. Ive also withdrawn and re-inserted the SIM card.Nothing works !!My other major issue with this phone, is the degraded battery life !! I have turned off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and dimmed the display. I barely use the phone for voice conversations and usually only send 10-15 SMS/TXT per day. Apple ID not really working. iPhone 3G

Heya, I have a problem with my Apple ID. When Im going to download free games from Appstore, they ask me to fill in all the information on Billing Information, in which they send me to that page, and I fill in all thats needed. When I finally click on Submit, a red text appears telling me to type my Apple ID and password, go to Billing Information, and fill in. Theyre basically telling me to do exactly what Im doing. So Im not getting any further. Does someone else have this problem aswell, or am I the first one? And can someone please tell me how to make it right? Windows XP Windows XP

So I really need help to figure this one out. Suddenly when I get a message it only vibrates even though all sounds are on and when someone calls the sound works perfectly normal. I have tried looking under settings - sounds - new text message - and then when I try to choose the sound I want to hear when the new message comes it wont let me listen to it so Im thinking this is where the problem is. I often text reminders to myself....so in the text conversation with myself theres the green sent bubble and the white recieved message bubble. Then all of a sudden today, the recieved texts started showing up in my yahoo email inbox. My iphone is now showing the predictive text and saying it outloud! I can not shut off the voice. Does anyone know how to shut this off? Everyone around you can hear it when you are texting! Failure to sendreceive SMS and MMS iPhone

I have kept immaculate care of my iPhone 3GS since I bought it last June. I make sure to sync it regularly and it is in great shape. However I have recently discovered that occasionally when I send a text or picture message that the recipient does not get it. Likewise I have not been receiving a large number of text and picture messages. There is primarily 3 people I message regularly and they all report that I am not sending/receiving about 1/5th of the items. Cant Send or Receive Calls and text messages in My Local Area iPhone 3G

This morning, 6 miles away from home my iPhone worked well. When I arrived home and tried the same, calls and texts failed. There is a cell tower less than one mile from my home and the same thing happened last summer and several weeks ago. AT&T is telling me that I need to replace my phone because when I took the SIM card out and put in into my old RAZR phone it worked. I just put the SIM card back into my iPhone and all is well. AT&T claims to have a problem with the local cell tower, but because my RAZR worked, they are blaming the iPhone. I dont think they are correct. I have restored the iPhone, updated my OS, turned it on and off several times in the process.My iPhone is out of warranty and I cant get an answer from Apple for free. Has anyone had this problem?
