I have an iPhone 5 64 GB running iOS 6.1.4 on AT&T. Over the past ~ three days, have noted that the iPhone randomly "crashes". Could be when I am using an app. Could be when I am making a phone call. Could be when it is simply connected to the power cord and haven't touched it at all. The cycle is as follows: Screen suddenly goes blankThe white Apple logo (which typicaly appears during boot-up) appears for 3 - 5 secondsI hear the "chirp" that normally sounds at the end of boot-upThe iPhone lock lock screen then appears Sometimes, when the phone emerges from lock screen, the brightness is about half of what it was prior. I have not been able to isolate this behavior to a specific set of circumstances. When it occurs during a phone call, the call is interrupted / other party is silenced, but if I swipe at lock screen, the call resumes (the other party notes that I went silent during duration). I have re-started / re-booted the iPhone 15 times. I have cleared all apps from the cache. I have disabled all notifications and location services. I have done a Reset All Settings on iPhone and restored from iCloud. I have done a Restore from iTunes. The problem continues. I would say that this crash cycle occurs about every 30 - 60 minutes. As noted, many times when I'm not even touching / using the iPhone. Have also noted that when not connected to power supply, the iPhone is quite warm, and battery drain is at an accelerated rate of 3x to 4x of "normal", worse than prior iOS 6 related battery issues. Have also tried all the usual battery saving tricks - wifi is off, GPS is off, EQ is off, etc. Any thoughts before I head to the Genius Bar? Thanks! TCF
My third attempt to fix my iPhone 4s. I've gone through two phones calls, three associates, and one Tech. support supervisor. The only thing said to me was "I cant do anything". I've explained my problem, as thorough as possible but the only option was to purchase a replacment for $200. I've restored my phone multiple times with zero effect, each with a clean restoration of iOS 6.1.3. If there is a solution to this problem I will greatly appreciate it. my iphone 5 got water damage the screen turned red i put it in rice for a day it came back to life but now it will not boot up past the apple. i restored it but it still will not boot past the apple what am i to do?
Hi all, Recently I've been having this problem with my iPhone 5. I picked up my phone and it was suddenly off. When I tried to turn it back on, the Apple logo would show up for a few seconds and then the screen would turn black again. It wasn't low on battery, but I tried to plug it in anyways, thinking maybe it died. When I plugged it in, the Apple logo came on as if it were booting up, but then the logo faded within approximately five seconds. After it faded, a new apple logo reappeared, and it faded again. This kept repeating itself over and over when plugged in. It continues when unplugged, and only stops when I hold the home and lock button at the same time for around ten seconds. I searched for hours to find a solution, and the only one given was to restore it, and I tried that because I had recently made a backup for the phone. The only problem with this was that the iPhone would show the same repeating fading boot up that it did before when plugged in, and for some reason my iTunes nor my computer read that the phone was plugged in. The phone simply didn't pop up. I'm really hoping that my phone isn't broken, and that I can fix this. Any feedback is very helpful. Thanks
Hey guys you've probably read my other threads about a bad iphone battery.here is what happened.i bought an iPhone 4 from ebay that had an error 21 ( wouldnt power up unless it was plugged in)i had a bad eSn cracked iPhone 4 with me, so i swapped the battery from my old iphone 4 to the new one. The old battery was working perfectly fine on the bad esn iphone. OK so i swapped it and the iphone with error boot it up! i was happy but then while it was still working it got really HOT while being plugged in, while unplugged still warm though. Batter drained quick and got the Temp warning. Then today it died, i tried it on the bad esn iphone and yes battery died. When i opened the iphone again, the battery had some green things coming from the battery. im guessing because it was over heated.not sure what to do now. help anyone?
i was using my iphone the other day and the battery percentage had stopped moving at about 70%. a few hours later my phone rebooted into a boot loop which i was able to hard reset out of and now the battery will only gain a charge if it is in recovery mode. it does not die, every time i plug it in rather than getting the "you need to charge" battery when the phone typically dies, it simply gives the apple logo, boots for a few minutes gets to the home screen than reboots. when pluged in, it shows the battery as being charged, but it is nowhere near charged (2% at times). i have tried upgrading, new cables new outlets still no luck. please help!
I can not restore my iphone which is currently stuck in a reboot loop because the update server can not be contacted. I have tried all the remedies suggested.
My iPhone 4 Will not restore with iTunes, It also will no boot up correctly. It goes straight to the apple logo and just goes on and off apple logo, when i get it to the plug and itunes screen i try and restore it and it just gives me errors every time and will not restore. The phone is factory unlocked.
Hi, (iphone 4 16gb)I recently had to change the front screen with a replacement set, I did everything to A standard, all the cables correctly connected etc, but when i try to turn the phone ON it does nothing.I plugged it into a wall main charger and now it turns on/off every 10seconds only reaching the apple logo boot.It has not once booted to the main screen. Before all this the iphone was bought second hand, its legit but had a damaged screen, withthe screen displaying red lines anywhere with light with the brightness flashing when bright. Now it looks to be fixed, since the apple logo previous on boot had a red line through the centre, but now has totally gone. I know this forum does not support people fixing there own iphones, but its not in warranty and i cant afford to buy a new one just yet. Does anyone know whats happening.Simply it only boots when connected to a power source, lasts for around 5-8seconds on apple logo, switches off and does the whole process again.I cannot simply hold down the power and home to get DFU mode since it restarts too fast.
AAAND, of course my phone reset to factory settings with NO PHOTOS OR ANYTHING AT ALL!! iv tried 'RESTORE" several times and it just keeps me in the same loop...9welcome to your new iphone) my choice was 'iphone for our babys birth? of course..'Question- Were we wrong in choosing apple as our go to product? or is there a way to see my sons first seconds again at all.. this is extremely upsetting and id love to resolve this issue as soon as possible... thanks for your time, Katisha Conner
My uncle gave me one of his "broken" iPhones. Well when I got home that day I tried to power it on and the battery to wall charger came on the screen so I plugged it in and it stated charging so I left and came back to get it to watch my brother play video games in his room and when I plugged it in nothing happened. I eventually got it to work and one night I fell asleep listening to music on it and when I woke up there was water or something wet on it. The flashlight was flickering high and low like the battery was dying it was hotter than **** and no music was playing. I got up and went to the bathroom, got something to eat and came back and the light was not flickering it was still VERY HOT literally I could not pick it up it was so hot. So I put it on the charger and held the home and power buttons down to try to hard boot it but nothing happened like all the other Times it froze. My sister was playing with it a couple of days ago and banged the back of it into a corner or something and broke the back glass and I would try the rice thing butt one screw is stripped and I can't get it out to take it apart. If you have read all of that and can giver any tips or tricks on how to fix it or if can be fixed. PLEASE!!
My phone was jail broken and mistakenly delete a folder called delete launchdaemons now my iPhone 4 is bricked will it ever work again or is it broke ?
During the last 6 day my iPhone 4s ios 6.1.2 has turned off 3 times. This is the third time it has done it I really don't know what is going on with my phone. The first time it shut off was last Wesnday evening I was using it all throughout the day and was wrking fine the I put the phone in my pocket and went to go check if I got notifications and it was completely off. I was unable to to boot it back up. I connected it to iTunes and it said it was in recovery mode and I had to restore it but whe I tried to restore it, it would not restore at all the bar was not loading. So I kept it on the charger overnight and the next morning I turned it on. The following day on Friday it did it again, same thing. but this time when I plugged it to iTunes It was able to recover so I was relieved. And then today I was using it this morning and it was fine after school was over for me I get my iPhone out my pocket and it was off so I tried to hard reboot it and turn it on but it would not boot. So now I am here and I tried to plug it to the computer to restore it but iTunes is not detecting my iPhone being connected to iTunes. Can someone help me I am getting mad and frustrated.
So Apple update tells me to update the phone to resolve Exchange issue (?) which will result in better battery life and less data usage. I've been running the latest IOs on the phone and itunes. So I do. Now the Iphone is completely dead. It wont boot. Indicating that it wants to be connected to Itunes. Itunes says it must be restored? It was working 100% until I said ok to the update. I don't want to restore as it likely will destroy data on the iphone. Help me find a better solution! (and yeah right now Apple I am MAD)
I was running through the hard drive permissions and i clicked on "no access" to everyone. and suddenly my mac froze. I shut it down and when i open it i just see the apple sign without any login information. What Should i do pleasseeeeee?
Since the IOS 6.1 update on my iPhone 5 I've noticed my battery has been severely degraded. I never make it through the day now without it dying - used to be at 35-45% every night when I went to bed. Just now it was at 40% (12pm), unplugged it from the charger at 6:30am and it has been locked and asleep since. How does it drain 60% doing nothing! And it's Sunday, on a regualr workday it would be dead by now. Unacceptable. I've read other posts and have tried several fixes: -Deleted all email accounts including Exchange account and iCloud-Turned off all location services-Updated all APPS and deleted ones I was not using-Deleted Find Friends APP as another post suggested this would help-Re-booted phone after turning it off for over 1 minute-Added back Exchange, Gmail and iCloud email accounts Then I downloaded the Xcode app onto my MacBook Pro and discovered the following error is happening as a loop when my phone is locked and should be sleeping: WiFi unquiescing requested by "locationd" Any ideas what this is? This is COMPLETELY ridiculous. I have been a LONG time Apple supporter and it's hard when things like this happen to defend the greatness of Apple products to non-users-seriously....I shouldn't have to spend hours researching a fix for a problem that has clearly affected sever thousand if not hundreds of thousands of people since the upgrade, ALL complaining about the same thing. Common' Apple-you're better than this!! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
So here my iPhone froze or something happened so I procede to turn off and then turn on the device. It loads the Apple showing that it is going to boot back up but then it sits there or freezes there. So I go on YouTube and look for a tut and all I found was just to put in DFU mode. I do that and my computer says that it can't load because there's a password and it follows saying that I need to go and disable the passcode. And I can't do that because it freezes at the Apple loading screen. So is the last thing I have to resort to is that I have to get new iPhone?
When I turn on my iPhone 4, I need to wait for 39 secs. Other phones boot faster than iPhone. Is the solution available for the booting for my iPhone to be faster?
Ok so here is what happened:I jailbroke my iphone 4 IOS 6.1, then reloaded the springboard. The phone was then stuck in an infinite boot loop, constantly rebooting and not progressing past the Apple logo. My computer and itunes were both able to recognize the phone, so I chose to restore the phone in DFU mode. The restore (according to iTunes) went through every step until completed. I can still open all the iphone files with itunes, see my music, apps, contacts, all that good stuff. Even download music to iTunes so it surely isn't that program. However, the phone still can't get past the logo! I can shut it off and put it into DFU mode, and iTunes can still restore the phone, but still no response from the idevice. Have I missed a step? Is there anything I can do to wake it up before replacing it? I can still access everything on it with my itunes so I don't want to replace it if it is still hanging in there for me...
Tried to update to iOS 6.0.1 or 6.1 (dont remember, it was the last one), I got an error and now my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode! Tried everything, RecBoot (nothing happens), TinyUmbrella ( nothing happens, i even tried fix recovery with the iPhone in DFU and it didnt work), iRecovery ( Permission Denied on Terminal). If i Try to restore in iTunes, says that my iphone is not eligible! Dont know what else to try!! Can someone help me? I have an iPhone 4s, i think it was on the latest 5.X iOS before all of this.
iphone 4s with iOS 6.0.1 will not hard reset( power button/home button ) after it restarts I check the Diagnostic and it says boot failure count-1 /reset count-0/boot stage-255, any ideas?
I've upgraded my 3GS to an iPhone 5 about 3 weeks back, and I was resonably happy with the 6.0.1 installed. After upgrading to 6.0.2, the battery in my iPhone 5 began to drain and could only last for a maximum of 4-5 hours. I've tried it all, tweaking the settings to conserve power, even tried some solutions posted on other forums, restoring back to factory settings, doing a soft reset, hard reset, even tried redownloading the iOS 6.0.2 and I think the worst just happened ...Battery died (cuz I'm out of power right.)Charged it to Apple's USB power outlet.Stuck at Apple boot logo, wouldn't proceed but instead it tries booting again, and again, and again....So I tried a hard reset, and put it into DFU mode, hopefully it will be stable again after recovery.Plug my iPhone back to my Mac OSX 10.8.2, iTunes tries to unpack the OS and attempts the restore...Instead, it's now stuck at the recovery mode, and iTunes gives me, "The iPhone cannot be restored. an unknown error occured (2001)."And then, the iPhone attempts to restart, goes back to connect to iTunes mode (DFU) and the cycle then repeat itself again. Any of you guys having the same issue? I can't seem to find a fix anywhere
Is the difference between the 3gs and the 5 sufficient to warrant the expenditure on changing? I am almost caught by the hype when all I really want is a phone with better reception and doesn't take two to three minutes to boot up after leaving an aircraft. Thank you
Hi all. I've already tried asking this elsewhere, but haven't really had much luck with help other than "it has to be a hardware issue". So, here goes. Note: it is far out of the warranty date, plus it's physically damaged. I have an iPhone 4 (16, I think) that was working aside from cracks in the screen. I saw it working a few months ago and it was given to me (it hasn't been used since). When I turned it on, it showed the iTunes and usb cable (indicating it needed restoring) so I tried restoring it (invalid build error I think). I kept trying again and again but got the 16xx error a few times. I have tried two different computers, different OSs, (one that didn't even ever have itunes installed) and I keep getting the same -1 error at the very very end of the restore. Early on, I was able to get it to boot and get to a passcode screen but then it said the iPhone needs to be restored after I unlocked it. It's almost like it's restoring fine and then suddenly it doesn't verify at the end with apple's servers or something. My apartment's wifi goes through an isp with security of some sort, I'm sure. Could that be an issue? I feel like it almost restores it but then it fails right at the end. Here is one of the logs--this one is the latest -1 error. It is abridged since most of it wouldn't fit. I don't know how to attach the full log. Help. I updated the new ios 6.0.2 and now the phone is dead. I tried rebooting several times (both using backup and starting fresh), update/connect using 3 different itunes in 3 different MACs..still no use. I'm stuck in this loop of recovery mode! HELP!!! Apple can you help me out here!
okay so here is the deal. I am travelling at the moment so my iphone is VERY important, yesterday i attempted to update my phone from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2. i plugged in my iphone 5 to my macbook pro and let it download and update. sadly it failed and now my iphone 5 is stuck in a recovery loop! as i am currently in the moutains there is no phone repair shops around that i can take it too so i need to figure out how to get it out of this recovery loop! currently all i have is the connect to itunes logo on my phone.i have tried connecting it and restoring the settings but it fails and i get error code (-1), (1600) or (11) normally it is (-1) i tried removing the sim card and reinstalling the software but no luck. ive been googling this for the past 5 hours and have got nowhere! ive attempted programs like tinyumbrella and Recboot but neither works. i am really stuck and need help ASAP!!
Hi everyone, I have had my iPhone 5 pretty much since the day it was launched, with no problems apart from the slow wifi (fixed with the latest OS). However, a few weeks ago I started to experience some small green and pink horizontal lines on the screen. I thought it may be some of the apps I'd downloaded but it continued to happen even whilst using the camera, Safari etc. After showing the little lines it would then freeze, the screen would then just completely turn into vertical bars and then it would re-boot itself. I tried doing a factory reset, hard resetting, deleting all my apps, charging, updating software... All the typical fixes I could think of and the problem still persisted. So I finally decided to send the phone back to Apple by post (I don't have an Apple shop anywhere near). They kept the phone for maybe a few hours, sent an email saying there were no problems with it and sent it back to me! I have no idea what else I can do, is anyone else having this problem or a similar one? Thanks in advance!
Hello,I'm a DIY'er and very cheap. This is my first blog post ever. Excuse my unawareness. iphone out of warranty. Problem: My iphone burns hot when charging or when the screen is on.Cause: I was replacing a screen on my SISTERS iphone, used my own personal battery in my iphone to boot her phone to make sure i didnt buy a dud. But keep in mind both were ATT iphone 4 models. Both with the same IOS.I've replaced a screen before no problem. BUT this time the phone wouldnt fire up. So to make sure I didnt buy a dud, i removed the battery from my personal phone, placed it in my SISTERS iphone and bam it worked. Yay! Her iphone is working. So i removed my battery and reassembled her phone with her battery. Still working just fine. Now my phone is in need of repair. This is what i get for trying to help. Again, my iphone burns hot only when charging or when the screen is on. Battery is depleted in 1.5hrs. FAILED Attempts to fix by: Re-seatting the battery 10x plus.Swapped batterries several times again.Tried reconditioning.Blew air on the charging pins.Tried all the disable/delete mail accounts, icloud, restrictions, even airplane mode.Reset Network settings, then tried All settings, then tried erase all and restored with a NEW setup, no backups. Upgraded to IOS 6.0.1. Now im just going to completely disassemble/reassemble my phone out of desperation.I think all that may be left is possibly i caused a short. My iphone screen has two hairline cracks, but un-noticable by touch and also touch is working 100%. I think maybe somehow the screen is now causing the iphone to overwork itself. IDK how bcuz i lived with these 2 cracks for abt a year now till the recent battery swap.Im undecided if i should try my sisters screen on my phone, bcuz i dont want anymore problems.I dont want to buy a new phone. Any help would be much appreciated.
my iphone 4 wont boot up, tried to restore & got an error 23??..help
Hey everyone, I'm not sure if anyone is getting this but i own an iPhone 4 (running iOS 6) and a recently purchased iPhone 5 (also running iOS 6). Suddenly maybe before a couple of days ago my iPhone starting acting weird. Whenever i launched the Music app and started to play a song, the "high speed scrubbing bar" which you get by clicking on the screen anywhere "ONCE" doesnt disappear no matter how many times i try. However, I don't seem to have this problem on my iPhone 4. I tried to navigate through and/or getting it stuck but nothing happend on the 4. But on the iPhone 5, its still stuck and a bit annoying for me to have to see the "scroll bar + shuffle and loop buttons" ALL THE TIME, while its hiding the song's album picture. If anyone has any tips onto fixing this problem please let me know? I've already tried plentiful of stuff like resetting settings, restoring iPhone from backup but it doesnt seem to effect the Music app. Neither did rebooting the phone worked. I'm starting to think this might be an iOS bug. Thanks for all the help, This is my first time posting by the way, so I'm not even sure if this section is even the correct place. I tried to select the mose appropriate location to post this. thanks anyways.
I am charging my iPhone 5 and it shows the battery with a thin red bar (and the lightning logo indicating it is charging), but I still can't turn it on after an hour. I had left the battery drain overnight, but I imagine it wouldn't take it this long to get enough power to at least boot up... thoughts? Thanks!
I recently upgrade from an iphone 4 to a 5 and since then my celular data and wifi have both stopped working and require the phone to be reset to work. It is also sending multiple of the same imessages and sometimes will not send imessages even if i receive them and have lte and full cell service. it is also randomly resetting itself i guess, it stops what im doing and goes to the boot up apple screen for 5 seconds then reapears to the lock menu. I have talked with several other iphone 5 and 4 users who some say they experiance the same problems and some say they experiancce non at all? Does anyone know if its IOS6 or the hardware in the Iphone 5
Help please! I updated my I phone 4S to IOS 6 and when i open maps and click on the 3D view it doesn't make any difference i tried to fly to 1 infinite loop as it's a famous place but also nothing changed
My iPhone 5 is one day old, first it started like the mic was not working. Then I thought a restart might help. Now the phone is constantly restarting by itself. I tried all possible solutions of restart, connecting to itunes, connecting to wall connector, nothing seems to help.Phone is just restarting in a loop. The apple logo comes up, then goes dark, then comes up back again. No home screen!

I just recently got my iPhone 5 and I was trying to download some free apps onto it. Here is my problem. I did not have an Apple ID so I created a new one. What happened originally was if I went to the app store and tried to download an app, it would say since my ID has not purchased anything from iTunes I would have to "review" the TOS and agree to them. This page kept giving me an error saying I had to enable cookies, despite the fact I DID have cookies enabled. I got past this part by going to settings then iTunes & App store and putting in my apple ID and PW there which gave me the same message, this time the page did load and I got the whole TOS to agree to and it also asked me for my CC # saying charges would not be filed unless I make a purchase. When I went back to the apps page, it said extra security is needed or something (saying I could put 3 security questions) with the button "Not Now" or "Confirm." Clicking "Not Now" does nothing. Nothing happens on my phone when I press this. Pressing "Confirm" prompts me for my password. I put in my password and... the same box pops up again. I tried this multiple times and it just loops infinitely. Pressing Cancel will basically just quit it. I am NOT putting in the wrong password because I tried putting in random stuff for the PW and if the PW is wrong, it will give me a message that says I put it in wrong. I tried rebooting my phone but I still get the same problem.
I have an iPhone 3GS which I upgraded to iOS 6. Since then, I can make calls, but they all drop after 20-30 seconds. I tried turning it off and on. I also did a hard boot using the home key & power button. Nothing has fixed it. I have not been able to make a single call that lasted longer than 20-30 seconds. They simply cut off. I have never once had this issue before. Help!
Hey guys My iphone4 is having problem this morning, it blackout immediately after unplug from charger, the battery is at 100% full (i charged up all night)when I connected it back to charger, it started to boot, white apple logo shows up, but as long as you unplug it, it shuts down again. I remember I dropped my iphone4 from my bed, it might be my fault, just wondering if i send it to repair how much would they charge me, or I'll plan to buy a iphone5, my ip4 is old anyway

Find this a little bit odd. When you set a passcode on your iPhone and have as well protected your SIM card with a code, no network connection is established at the device power-on. Wi-Fi is only activated once the passcode has been entered.Which for me remove all the benefit you may think off about the “Find My Iphone” application! No network at boot, no chance to fins back the device!Your comments are welcome!
My phone was working one moment and then it shut off. I couldn't turn it back on so I plugged it in to the wall jack. After about 5 minutes it turned back on but was not getting cell phone service. I tried to make a call and it didn't work...nor did the voicemail. I then unplugged it to take it to my computer to restore it and it shut off again. This time, as it was connected to the computer, the start up "apple" kept coming on and then turning off. This contiues to happen when connected to the computer. What do I do from here? The only "different" thing that I did with my phone is update my "Fatbooth", "Baldbooth", and "Aging Booth". I'm assuming that as soon as the phone was done with the updates that my phone started doing this. During the updates I set it down for a few minutes and when I reruned after a few minutes (5-10 min) I noticed the phone My theory: My phone battery needs to be replaced. OR the updates that the Apps required made my phone crash or had a virus. *Sidenote: My phone's "silent button" (the one on the top) does not work at all. So I can't manually restart the phone.
I've tried most of the sullutions I've found. I've reset the phone, and I've updated to iSO 6, the issue has stayed consistent. All apps the use push notifications have the message come up. Some of them are unusable because the message keeps popping back up after I push "ok" in a constant loop.
It might just be a SIM issue. They will get you going or give you a new phone. Tried to update to ios6. Battery died during update, I have tried to restore and it gets all the way done, verifies update with Apple, goes to home screen, lets me get as far as setting up language and location services, then craps out and goes to apple logo flashing and phone vibrates twiceuntil I hard boot it down. Have tried several times. Help!! Phone is out of warranty!!
dropped unjailbroken iPhone 4 last night and battery went completely dead from a half charge, use it today and worked fine. Pulled it out of my pocket and again died at half a battery, when I plugged iPhone into the computer it is stuck in a boot loop and will not restore. Any help works!! and yes I tried DFU mode.
Updated my iPhone 4S to IOS6 & soon after the update the unit is now completely dead. It will power up or boot & it has been continuously connected to power via USB to my Mac Pro. Update was done using iTunes after it that upgraded first.
I've had my iPhone 4s since May. Its worked pretty well in the time since, only problems being a few random restarts every now and then, but nothing so alarming that I was truly scared for my phone. I updated my phone to iOS 6 the day it was released, and other than the usual "won't activate with carrier" problem a lot of people had, which I quickly resolved, its been working fine. Until today. This morning my iPhone shut down on its own, and would not respond to its normal method of powering up. The phone was only unplugged for 20 minutes, had about 99% battery left before it shut down. I plugged the phone in and there was no response. I eventually held down Home and Power for awhile and it booted up, worked fine. About 20 minutes ago it shut down again, same deal. Wouldn't turn on, had to do the home+power method. What could the problem be? Does it have to be replaced? I hope not. I didn't invest in apple care and can't afford to buy a new phone.
Hey Everyone, I am hoping you all can help. I just had my iphone 4s swapped out today due to a camera issue. When i arrived home I recovered from backup and it failed. I am in dire need of my phone as I depend on my phone for work and have conference calls to participate in tomorrow morning (less than 10 hours away). I cant sleep till this is resolved. I have been up and down google searches and apple support searches but they all lead to me running into a wall. Please advise if any of you have any advice to get my phone up and working.
