3G problems can help please iPhone

I did the latest software update as itunes recommended, however at the end of the update it gave me error 1604. I tried to carry out a restore as well, but the same thing happened it says cannot restore. Another problem is, that when the phone is turned off, or the battery runs flat the phone does not turn on, instead all I get is the sync with itunes screen.Can anyone tell me what to do? I have tried using a different PC, tried restoring from my old files but it will not work. Thanks to any advice.... 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3

My phone wont go past the apple screen. It will not show up on iTunes, and it wont restart any way I try. Ive tried different cords, different power sources, etc. Ive tried leaving it alone, Ive tried to restart it 50 times in a row, Ive tried everything. At this point Im thinking about sending it to this iPhone repair place, because I need a freaking phone and dont want to drop 200 bucks. help!

Dust in screen iPhone 3G

I have about a 1 year old 3g and it appears that theres dust getting under the glass part on the screen. A. How on earth is that possible and B. Is there any way to get it out? Im pretty sure its behind the glass because as soon as I started noticing it a month or so ago I put one of those screen protector films on it. Its gotten a little worse since then. HELP iPhone Freezing Missing Calls Missing Texts 3G

Hello All!I am having by far the strangest issues with my iPhone 3G. It started yesterday when someone was calling, usually you swipe left to right to unlock and pick up the call. Well the slide was non-responsive, as if it didnt recognize my finger. Then after the call rang through the contacts picture and name stayed frozen on the screen. After a minute of trying everything I eventually had to hold the power key and the home button on the front to reset the phone. That happened 4 or 5 times during the day, other times it answered fine. Also Id go to my recent calls to call someone back, and select their name, it would highlight in blue showing it was selected but would freeze, not dialing the contact or allowing me to scroll up or select any other contact. The only way to break loose was to hit the home key and get back to the main screen. It also happened with my text messages, after Id type the whole message when I hit send the button would go blue but not actually send the text and it would lock up, again only being able to get out of it by hitting the home button. Same issue with my contact book freezing when I selected a contact. On top of that, I talked to people later who said they sent me a text but I had no record of their text, or people who said they called yet I had no record of their call.All of these issues were intermittent, the phone would be screwed for 10-15min Id set it down, come back to it in a couple hours and it was fine. Itd work for a couple hours then just flake out again. I work in computer repair myself so obviously I tried to think what was the last change I made to the phone that would cause this. The last thing I did was download an app from the Apple store, but that was two weeks ago. Just the same I deleted it, however the problem still persists. I am very confused, and I cant find anyone else with the same problem, has anyone else heard of this or have any idea whats going on? 3G iPhone OS 3.1.2

Iphone reset settings and apps after hard reset

So i noticed a few days ago that my iphone was displaying full battery for about 2-3 days without being charged, obviously, i knew this was too good to be true. i did a hard reset (holding sleep+home)once the phone came back on all the apps were mixed up, my settings were back to factory settings and the time was off by an hour... im doing a restore now, any idea on what might have caused this?PS: a few weeks ago i cracked my screen, so unfortunately my warranty is void. iPhone only works on Auto-lock "never" or on charger

My iPhone 3G 8GB will only work if on Auto-Lock "Never" or on a charger. The Battery stays charged, but if it locks it goes to the Black screen with white Apple and no button combination will bring it back until I put back on charger. Any thoughts? I have restored and downloaded all latest versions of software.

Unlocked iphone will not allow calls in or out or SMS.

i have an unlocked I phone that will not allow in or outbound calls or SMS, My sim card is fine (been checked in another phone) but everytime I try to call I get a restricted cellular network message on screen. Tonight I was using my iPhone to listen to some audio files. When I finished I unplugged the headphones and left the phone for a while. Ten or fifteen minutes later I went to use the phone and could not get anything on the display. I assumed the phone had turned itself off so plugged into Macbook to charge. Surprisingly the phone connected to iTunes, did a backup and synch and showed the battery was mostly charged, but still a black display.Has my phone died? If I try calling it I can hear it ringing on the line but the phone itself remains silent with a black screen. Cannot access iphone from computer 3G

When connecting my iphone to my pc itunes does not open automatically, i have to open itunes manually. itunes then regonises my phone on the screen on the left hand side but no phone menu comes up underneath it. The only thing it will allow me to do is eject it. I have downloaded the latest version of itunes so that is all ok. Any advice please dell Windows XP

I just bought an iPhone last Friday. I am having trouble when I go to check my voicemail it calls it automaticaly rather than a list the screen goes black and it wont let me bring up the key pad to erase or hang up the call then the phone freezes for several minutes but you can still hear the voicemail menu being repeated. I accidentally deleted my FB app and can not get it back. It still shows up in settings but when i try to open it it wont do anything, the app on the home screen is also gone. Incoming calls close running apps iPhone

Whenever I get a call on my iPhone, the current application would close and the incoming call screen will come up. Even if I dont pick up the call or send it to voicemail, my application would be closed after that and I have to reopen, which is very inconvenient. Is there any way to have incoming calls appear as some sort of background so that the currently running app stays active? Or the only solution to not interrupt apps would be to put the phone into Airplane mode so that no calls can get through?Thanks! 3gs Windows 7

Help for former BlackBerry User iPhone

I had a BlackBerry until a couple months ago. The button in the upper right hand corner of a BlackBerry is a sleep button but on a call it is a mute button. The button in the upper right hand of a iPhone is the sleep button...except when youre on a call it is the hang up button. When Im listening to conference calls and I want to go to mute real quick I tend to hit this button...and ta da! Im out of the call. Even after a couple months I just cant get used to not having this as a mute button. And really I kinda prefer having that button there because I can quickly mute to cough, ****, etc With the iPhone if the phone is up to my face I have to wait for it to sense Im not by the phone, turn the screen back on and then push mute. This is probably the only thing I miss about my BB is the mute button.Is there anyway to configure this button to be a mute button and not a hang up button??? First day of week in calendar iPhone 3G

In the UK (as in many countries) the week starts on Sunday and calendars normally reflect this. With iPhone the week starts on Monday (in UK) but in Ireland it starts on Sunday. I really cant use a calendar showing Monday as the first day of the week (its too confusing when compared to printed calendars and iCal on the computer). If I set iPhone calendar to Ireland thats fine for a while but soon it reverts to UK and Monday. Hello! I have an iPhone 3gs. Yesterday, I mistakenly left it at a guard post at a federal building after it had gone through the x-ray machine. I was unable to return to the building to retrieve my phone before the workday was over. So it sat at the guard post until this morning, when I picked it up.The weird thing is this: The screen now only displays, from bottom to top, an Apple USB plug and an arrow pointing upward toward an iTunes icon. The top of the phone says no service, along with a padlock icon and the battery meter. The lower right hand corner includes an i with a circle around it, and when I tap that, I get a window displaying an IMEI and an ICCID number.What the heck does this mean? iPhone 3gs iPhone OS 3.1.3

Did you check all the power connection any loose connection will result in the phone not starting. Also make sure that you do the home + power hard reset properly as I had the same issue. First hold down power and home simultaneously for about 10 secs, then release the power while still holding home for another 10 secs logo should come up. just replace my screen. took me an hour to figure this out. You can call me if you have any question 718 864 6960. PS Connector 4 on the logic board is responsible for power even without video you should still be able to hear that default chargin sound when connected to a power source. The best way to be certain is to remove the cables and reattach them as the fitting are a lil cumbersome to work with

All ICONS missing iPhone 3G

I just bought my new iPhone 3G and was exploring the phone. I mistakenly pressed Reset button under settings (not even further reset buttons), after which all the application icons are missing, except for YouTube, Stocks, Weather, Voice Memos, Clock & Settings. Even the phone options at bottom bar is missing. I cant even make phone or send text or access any of the iPhone applications. I tried rebooting the phone couple of times, reset all factory settings, reset home screen layout, but nothing works. Restrictions are off. I cant figure out what to do. Barely audible text message sound iPhone

When I send a text, go back to the home screen, and receive a new text, my normal text message sound plays. However, when I send a text and lock the phone, without going back to the home screen, if the same recipient texts me back, it will play a sound that is barely audible. It wont even notify me of a new text. I will see that I received a message if I randomly look at my phone. I should add that my normal text sound is the bell, and the barely audible sound is the one where you receive a message as you have the SMS app open. Big difference when you hear the two in terms of volume.Is there anyway to have it notify me with the same sound, rather than the barely audible sound when my phone is locked? iPhone iPhone OS 3.1.3

iPhone goes into to Auto lock and then black screen

Once my iPhone 3G 8GB goes into Auto lock mode after 2 minutes the black screen with the white apple comes on and will not respond. Not even a reset. Only putting back on a charger will bring it back to life. The battery is fully charged. I have downloaded latest versions from iTunes, also did a restore. Nothing is working.

Hey I had same problem. Just hold the off button by the middle button under the screen and connect the phone to the computer while holding the buttons. Open the itune and you need reinstall the software. If that does not work, just google it. "How to reset iPhone to factory condition" and so forth. Good luck.

Iphone keeps turning on and off 3G

My phone is seriously messing up right now. For the last couple of hours it has been on the start up screen with the apple on it. It will be on that for about 2 minutes then there will be a little circle (I think its supposed to spin) on the apple for about another 2 minutes. Iphone 3G no longer shows charging or recognized by PC

Iphone 3G 3.1.2 no longer shows to be charging when connected to my PC or to a wall outlet. The computer does not recognize it at all, tried putting it into DFU and still, no recognition. What Ive discovered is, that it does actually charge when plugged in, just doesnt show to be. Like, I get no lightning bolt when plugged in. I let the phone stay on until it died, ofcourse once I powered it on, I got the black screen with the red battery, so when I plugged it in to the PC, I got the lightning bolt and the phone turned on. Still doesnt show to be charging once inside the Iphones OS. I thought it might have been a faulty dock connector, so i bought another and replaced it, nothing changed. I have 2 other iphones and they work perfectly fine with the same cable and same computer. I thought maybe a restore would do something, but I cant even get the PC to recognize it, so thats out of the question. Does anybody know what it might be? iPhone 3GS will not make or receive calls.

Over the past week my iPhone (which has worked perfectly for 6 months) had stopped making or receiving calls. My phone will work one minute then 24 hours later, i get 15 voicemails and text messages at 1 time from people that i have been trying to call me. Its as if i have no reception,then it will kick back in all of a sudden. The same goes when i try to make calls. I try to dial and it either freezes or just says cant connect and returns to home screen. Its getting worse as the days go on. It just happened to 2 of then handsets in my home. One sony ericsson w350i and other nokia 1100. They were left to overcharge a couple of times and then the battery just stopped working. Upon observation the whole battery had swollen up, without any external leaks. I was wondering if something like this can happen with the iPhone 3g or is the firmware smart enough to make it stop charging on full charge?I also bought an app called sleep cycle which requires iPhone to be running overnight without screen lock and is recommends users to keep it plugged in to the charger so that it can stay up to sound the intended wake up alarm. messages and sleep mode iPhone

Ive noticed that normally when my iPhone is in sleep mode once I awake it before I slide to unlock I can see if Ive received a message. This morning I was messaging with someone. Left the phone alone for about 10 minutes...turned off sleep mode, couldnt see any messages initially on the slide to unlock screen. Once I did unlock, then I saw another message in the message window. Strange, any information?

iPhone 3G hangs and reboots when connected with USB

Hi,Im having problems with my iPhone 3G (it has the last firmware and has never been jailbroken) when trying to sync/charge with the USB cable connected to any PC.. Ive started having problems two days ago (I did not do any particular activity apart from updating 14 apps from iTunes): I connect the phone to my pc, it starts syncing and after few seconds (sometimes 1-2 minutes) the circle with bars appears in the middle of the screen; then, after a while it reboots and the apple logo appears (I usually reboot it with sleep+home because after 20 minutes it is still there).. Ive lost my backups and Im not able to complete the iPhone backup, so I dont know how I should proceed now... Maybe I could try to reinstall the firmware, even if Ill loose everything, but is it possible to do that without an active internet connection? I have downloaded the file with the last firmware, how can I reinstall it from iTunes when Im not connected to Internet?Thank you in advance for any help! Santech X3620 Windows Vista

Touch screen defective-NO Support iPhone 3G

I have had an iphone for just over a year and this is my third one. Apple replaced the first two for a crack on the back case, advising it to be a flaw in the case. Now I have a touch screen issue, but I would not call it a dead spot like Apple states. Apple also said it was a hardware issue. The issue is that the screen work with some apps but not on the home screen or the keypad. When I stated having this issue I looked up and saw that this is more common then Apple let on. I was happy with the iphone till this happened and I was told to just buy a new iphone. I am extremely dissatisfied with the support and customer service Apple has displayed on what clearly is a defect. Toyota has taking care of their customers. How to display of voicemails on main screen iPhone

All,As you all know, on the main screen the Phone App icon displays the number of missed calls in a little red circle. This is the total of missed calls whether or not they left a message. To find out the number of voicemails, you need to enter the Phone App. I would like to see the number of voicemails at a glance on the main screen for at-a-glance convenience.It seems so ergonomically critical -- to know if youve got a message waiting instantly! I cant imagine this isnt in high demand.I know if the BlackBerry {BOO!} can do it, so must the iPhone. But a call to Apple tech support says officially this cant be done. itunes doesnt recognize iphone 3G

Ive been trying to sync my iphone, but when i plug it in itunes doesnt recognize it as being connected. My phone beeps like its connected, but only shows up on the screen as charging. Hello!I replaced the battery in my 16gb 3g and in the process of doing so broke the ring in the wifi cable where it is screwed to the housing. after assembling everything, checking, double checking. Iphone will not turn on at all.At first I got a little red line showing a dead battery when I plugged it in, but I couldnt get it to turn on (pushed power and home button together, tried dfu etc etc). Opened it again to double check other cable connections, now it doesnt even show this!Does this cable just affect the antenna or could it have disrupted the whole iphone from not turning on?Will appreciate the help! I got my email to pre-oder an iPad. Thanks for the head’s-up. I really like the iPad idea, as i have an iPhone and really love the features the screen is so fine, I imagine the iPad will be a great screen for its uses. BUTA big BUT – my iPhone is not reliable! It goes NO SEVICE regularly (usually from 5 pm to 8 pm) right in northwest Houston where cel towers abound. I use it for business and it is a critical communication tool that has let me down regularly lately as I am an M&A deal lawyer for whom staying in touch at all hours on deal negotiations is crucial. I may have to dump my otherwise beloved iPhone for somenting that works.The ATT phone store folks tell me its because iPhone is 3G only, and cannot roll over to regular network if 3G is not working. So, unlike other phone with dual mode, iPhone is DEAD if 3G is out. It also seems to happen when my battery shows less than full charge – even ¾ charge. NO SERVICE. Maybe my iPhone is defective. Still NO SERVICE means I don’t have what I need which is a working cel phone when I need it.So, I’m an iPhone customer with NO SERVICE when I need it. I’ll wait on the iPad, until Apple and ATT can provide reliable 3G or dual mode or battery/phone that works at ¾ charge.I’d be ordering an iPad right this second if not for the problems with my iPhone.

So yesterday it start with my iphone telling me that I needed to connect to iTunes and restore because I couldnt make or receive calls. I reset it, and seemed OK. I later tried to play doodle jump, which crashed upon opening, so I reinstalled it to no avail. I discovered this morning that wasnt just doodle jump, but all 3rd party apps. It also went through stages of not turning on, telling me to restore it, and still having an image on the screen but there was absolutely no brightness to it, and instead of the screen going black when I press the sleep button on top, I would get a bright white screen. Giving up on resets, I came home from school and restored it, and it worked perfectly. Now its 5.5 hours later and it just froze, unfroze, and had no brightness.
