Upgraded new computer iPhone keeps connectingdisconnecting to itunes.

Hi, I recently set up a new computer and connected my iphone to it. For some reason, the iphone will continually connect and disconnect to the computer/itunes.Ive tried a bunch of different stuff but Ive yet to resolve this issue. Im pretty sure its not a problem with usb, because other devices work perfectly. Ive also tried switching the iphone to different usb slots.My specs are:iPhone 1G, latest firmwareOS Vista 32-bitLatest iTunes versionMotherboard (I figure if its anything to do with the computer, itll be the motherboard): Asus PRQ5 ProLike, where do I start to try and fix this? Hoping someone here can share their experiences related to my questions:Im a long time AT&T customer. I was eligible for a phone upgrade last month. My wife is eligible March 28, 09. Wed both like iPhones.Currently, only I have a data plan. We have a Family Plan of 450 shared minutes, unlimited data for my phone (20.00), and 1500 texts for my phone (like, 10 or 15 dollars). We also have a 15% employer discount. Our bill comes to around $95/month.Question 1: If I switch to 2 iPhones with the data plan and 1500 texts, what can I expect the phone bill to be? (after taxes and fees)Question 2: Do I have to wait to upgrade us both, til March 28? Difference in method of outgoing voice-PLEASE HELP iPhone

Im curious if anyone knows if there is different hardware used for outgoing voice when switching from normal talk mode to speakerphone. Im having a problem with my 3G iPhone (version 2.2 software) that could be software or hardware related but Im not sure. Basically, outgoing voice is fine over speakerphone (on EDGE and 3G) and WiFi (using Truphone app) but garbled over EDGE and 3G in normal talk mode. Anyway, if anyone can explain the differences between the outgoing voice in each mode it could probably help me resolve the problem or at least narrow it down before swapping out the hardware for no reason.Thanks. How to manage ringtones Timing of what ringtone not syncing iPhone

Does anyone have any idea if there is an app or a way to manage your ringtones in terms of time of the day? During work hours, I would like my ringtone to be a vibrate, or something unobtrusive, since its quiet. However, outside work hours, Id like it to be something more obtrusive so I dont miss it. This is similar to profiles for blackberry users. Any ideas? I dont see anything in settings, but not sure if Im missing something, or if there is an app that would provide this functionality. iPhone bubble like screen 3G

I bought iPhone 3G in Jully in Italy. Hi. My husband bought me an iphone yesterday. (lucky me!) I am trying to access my hotmail account from the iphone. I went into itunes store and bought Mbox to enable me to do that. The problem is Im a dinosaur and dont know what to do next. iPhone 3G as just phone

Is it possible to use the iPhone 3G as just a phone? Ive read other forum posts about people turning off their edge/3g networks to prevent their iPhone from connecting to the internet and at he same time retaining the voice plan. I was told by the ATT CSR that the iPhone 3G uses the internet to make and receive phone calls and removing it would be suicide because they charge $10 a kilobyte, is this true? I just need people to confirm what the truth is and such. My friend wants to know if he can remove his iPhone 3G data plan and still be able to make phone calls with his iPhone 3Gthanks! Testing Bluetooth iPhone 3G

My wife and I both have 3G iPhones. She got a Plantronics Voyager 520 Bluetooth headset for Christmas, and paired it with her iPhone instantly. No problem.It wont pair with mine at all. Ive tried all the obvious things... soft reset of the iPhone, hard reset, turning the headset off and on, etc. Occasionally, on the iPhones Bluetooth Settings screen, I get a brief flash of Headset, but it always goes away quickly. I never get the Plantronics 520 display that my wife gets.Im always dubious of claiming a hardware problem, but this seems pretty suspicious to me. Is there anything I can do to test my iPhones Bluetooth chip short of buying (or borrowing) a different Bluetooth headset? too many to count Mac OS X (10.5)

My Microphone wont work during calls iPhone 3G

Im having an odd problem with my iPhone--I can hear people when they call me or when I call them, but they cant hear me unless I use my bluetooth headset. I first cleaned out the headset port with blasts of compressed air but no change. Next I did a reset, then finally a complete restore, but no dice.Even more strange is that I can still use the microphone with Google to do voice searches. My iphone 3g will not ring or vibrate in my pocket, I have reset,restored,rebooted, you name it ive tried it. It seems after i reset it sometimes it will work for a few days then do the same thing again. No settings whatso ever are being changed during that time period. Can anybody Help Iphone 3g

iPhone wont mount on MacBook Pro

Has awlays mounted via USB port no problem until a couple of days ago. MacBook does not see the iphone when connected via USB, and the iphone will not charge. iPhone will charge when connected to AC power. iphone does not show up in System Profiler.So far I have tried:Rebooting MacBookRestarting iPhoneTried every USB portRe-installing iTunes.No luck. I have a 2008 Scion xD and my new i-pod works but will not charge. I was told by Corp. Scion that this was a i-pod/Apple problem not Scion’s. Kevin went on to tell me that Scion did not know Apple was changing anything, and Scion will not be doing anything to fix this and I should call Apple. Activation screen comes up on an already activated phone iPhone 3G

Ive had an active iPhone 3g since July. Twice in the last 24 hrs: once when home button pressed to awaken after just being in my pocket and the other time when powering on after being off for the night, I got the screen graphic showing connect to iTunes to activate (graphic of cord and iTunes logo) as if the phoe were brand new, with no service and only the ability to make a emergency call from the keypad (after slide). Luckily I was near my computer both time but may not be if it happens again. Once attached to computer and device recognized by iTunes, the phone screen says iPhone activated and everything is back to normal. All my apps, tunes, contacts, etc are still there.I take real good care of the phone. Never dropped; usually in my pocket when not in use. Software says up-to-date.Never happened previous to yesterday and nothing different that day. Anyone else having this issue? Any recommendations? Apple support said to restore the phone via iTunes. What a hassle, with all the backing up I have to do. But if that is the only recourse, Ill have to do. Its like, well weve never heard of that one so just restore it - an easy answer. Does anyone know if there is an application that might let you find your iphone through GPS if it is lost or lock the phone with the use of SMS/text message commands. Why my phone say Call Failed when dialing number iPhone 3G

Ok, Im using 2.2 software version on my iPhone 3G. Its not unlocked or anything. The problem started last night, when I tried to call someone in my contact list. Ill dial the number and it automatically goes to Call Failed, it doesnt dial or even attempt to. I can sends text messages, receive phone calls, and get online. Just cant make phone calls.Heres what I did to try to fix it.First I cut the phone off and powered back on. Then tried a soft reset by holding the home button and power button down. After that didnt work I restored it to factory settings, which didnt work. Then I restored from a backup, but it didnt work either. Ive tried everything people have said on the internet, that doesnt require unlocking the phone.Please help!!!!**edit** - Ive also removed the SIM and restored to factory settings. iPhone Outgoing Voice Garbled on 3G and EDGE

About 3 days ago, I started to experience an issue with my 3G iPhone running 2.2 software. On incoming and outgoing calls I can hear the person on the other end but my voice is garbled and/or filled with a lot of static. This occurs on both the AT&T EDGE and 3G networks with and without the factory-provided headset. However, if I switch the speakerphone function on, both parties can hear each other normally. What I thought was particularly interesting is that when I use Truphone to make a VoIP call, everything functions normally as well. While I first thought that this could be some sort of hardware issue, the last test made it seem more along the lines of a software problem. I have powered on/off the phone, rebooted the phone, restored it to backup and restored to a new phone all with the same result. Has anyone else experienced this issue and been able to resolve it? I have an appointment at the Genius Bar on Friday but am hoping to be able to resolve this on my own.Thanks. HP Windows XP

Erase after 10 attempts iPhone

I was very excited to see this addition to the passcode lock menu, but has anyone actually tested this feature?My wife upgraded to an iPhone 3G after the bottom inch of the touchscreen became unresponsive (cant answer calls!). Unfortunately, this also rendered the Reset submenu of the Settings App un-clickable! Fortunately, she had the 10-attempts-wipe feature turned on, so I decided to try to use this to wipe the iPhone.The first 5 attempts were one-after-the other, but then I was required to increasing intervals of time between subsequent password attempts (5, 10, 15, 30, 60). Finally, a few hours later, I had 9 unsuccessful attempts. I typed in the 10th, expecting it to wipe, but nothing happened - it updated the error message to say 10 unsuccessful attempts, and made me wait another hours. One hour later, I tried again, and it bumped the error message to 11 unsuccessful attempts.Seems to me 11 is more than the 10 required to wipe the iPhone. So has anyone else actually tried this feature? Macbook 2.2GHz/250GB/2GB, iPhone 8GB Mac OS X (10.5.4)

WiFi possible fix iPhone 3G

I believe that after updating to 2.2 my WiFi at my office didnt work so well. The router would sporadically show up but drop the connection. Turns out that 3 out of 5 of us have this problem. I did discover that resetting my iphone made WiFi work good as new for us but only for a day it seems. Plus I had to redo all of my settings and icons which was a pain in the butt.Yesterday I tried just resetting the iphone network settings. So far, not only has that worked, but I dont have to redo all of my personal settings. Home button doesnt work iPhone

When I press on the Home button, nothing happens. When I press on it a second time, it takes me to Favorites as if I had done a double-click on the Home button.The phone still can send and receive calls, and can sync with my computer. I just cant get to my home screen.The phone also doesnt power down. Holding the power button does nothing until I release it, after which it goes into a sleep mode.Trying to reset the phone doesnt work. According to Apples website this can be done, and I was able to do it on the 2G iphone, however my 3G only allows me to send an SMS to 1 person at a time. I have downloaded the most recent update but this feature hasnt been added.Can anyone help? Dell Windows XP

After having my iPhone for about 3 months I have noticed that it has light leaks because the frame doesnt connect with the screen flush on one side. problem updating to 2.2 iPhone 3G

1. I have now updated my Iphone three times. This last update was to 2.2 from 2.1. My Lenovo X300 WIN XP PRO will not finish the installation it just hangs checking the phone. I have to connect the phone to another computer preferably a Mac and then complete the recovery process. I know many others have had this problem. Any hope for a solution?2. The second problem was the most frustrating. After updating to 2.2 my downloaded programs had disappeared. During the software upgrade process it did a successful backup and I restored after updating (otherwise I wouldn’t have had my contact music etc.). Reboot Iphone once day

So I got my new 3G iphone one week before XMAS and after a couple of days I noticed that: 1. my phone is unresponsive after finishing a call. (requires a reboot occurs at least once a day)2. Apps close all of a sudden when in use. I took my iphone to the apple store last week to the King of Prussia store and I was told that this was occurring because the iphone software was corrupted and that a system restore would fix this. A couple of hours later the same problems kept occurring. I restored my phone two more times at home, but I still kept having the same problems. I also synch my phone daily. I made another appoint for today and a different guy at the genius bar told me that this occurring because my system memory is low and that caused my reboots. He even said that everyone that has an Iphone or any smartphone should reboot their phone daily. I was really puzzled and upset that he told me I have to reboot my phone once a day. I have never heard this before and I wanted to know if other people have been told this, or was this guy just full of it. My iphone was replaced and I have not seen this problem occur so far. iPhone speaker not working

Serious problem here! Audio just stopped working using internal speaker. Went to YouTube to show a friend how it works, and video was fine, but no audio. So I switched to iPod mode, NO AUDIO!!! Output is fine via dock connector or headphones, and the internal speaker works fine when playing ringtones, etc. What happened, and how can I fix it? Dropping Calls iPhone 3G

This problem just started yesterday morning. I am unable to make or receive phone calls on the AT&T network. When receiving a call, the phone says I have full signal. When I try to answer the call, the signal bars fall to nothing and then it searches for the network. This happens on both the Edge and 3G areas. When making a call, once again the phone is telling me I have full signal, then it drops to nothing. The call is failed, then searches for the network.I am able to text message, the data is not working. I have restarted, reset, removed the sim card. Im out of ideas. Just a side note, while on GPS in 3G areas, my current location is telling me I am in Cleveland. The problem with that is I live in Delaware. I am not sure if these are related problems.Does anyone have a clue what the heck is going on with this thing. I really dont want to replace it again, this being my second iPhone. I slipped and at the same time my iPhone 3g fell:... then i pick it up and it still works and the screen is perfectly fine. But, after a few minutes it just stopped working!! Do you guys think that AT&T can fix it or is there any chance that they will give me a new one?

3 Way Call Conference Call on iPhone

Got a new iPhone 3G to replace my 1st generation iPhone. Old iPhone did 3-Way Calling (Conference Calls) just fine. I tried to do a 3-Way call today, and it would not work... ATT date wrong iPhone

Hi there,Am in the Chicago, IL area...and this morning when I turned on my iPhone, the date read Wednesday, January 7. Ive rebooted the iPhone a few times already, and every time it keeps saying its Wed. the 7th, not Tues. the 6th. Anyone else having this particular issue? Ive read here that some services were down on the East Coast, but nothing about the date issue. The time is correct. I am able to manually set the date/time to be correct, but Ive never had to do this before...its always just been on Auto, set to AT&Ts data network.Am I the only one with this issue today? Ok, the replacement phone is working good, but when I sync to my itunes, the system made me restore the phone to factory settings and erased the applications that were left on the iphone, sad but have not a problem with that, the problem is that the favorites screen is all black, nothing comes out, just a black screen. can someone please help?Thanks. Contacts, calendar, ok. Then it stops like finished, but it didn`t sync my music playlist and the apps. iPhone 3G Speaker phone microphone mute issue

I have noticed a fault with my iPhone 3G when I use Speakerphone. As soon as I select Speakerphone mode I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. They hear no sound, not even faintly. The microphone seems to mute. However, when I switch back and put the unit up to me ear, they can hear me and I can hear them. When I got the iphone this function definitely worked. I now mostly use a Bluetooth headset so only recently (post software 2.2 upgrade) noticed the speakerphone defect. It sounds like a software defect rather than a microphone fault to me. Have tried a Restore but this has not cured the problem. Has anybody had a similar problem? I will call O2/Carphone Warehouse if nobody has encountered this issue, however, when I contacted them to question the lack of PUSH e-mail, before the last software upgrade, O2 tried to tell me that it was my e-mail provider that was at fault! Please help My itunes just stops during sync but says Sync In Progress iPhone

Ok Ive tried syncing my iphone to itunes and it just says Sync in Progress. It never stops. Now it makes it through the Backing up iPhone portion but as soon as it gets to syncing contacts, it just sits there saying its Syncing contacts with iphone. Now Im not sure why its doing this, this just happened out of nowhere, so Ive even restored the phone twice, once as a new phone and then again with the option it left from restoring it the first time. It syncs the music, apps, and videos when I uncheck everything in the Info tab, such as contacts, calendar, etc. So its something to do with everything in the Info tab. Synching Irritations. iPhone 3G

Two really annoying things that continue to drive me up the wall:1) Every time I want to transfer pictures onto my phone or maybe just even one new song, why does iTunes force me to do a complete backup of my phone? What would take 10 seconds ends up taking 20 minutes for absolutely no reason.2) Why when I opt NOT to sync ALL of my apps, does it tell me it will REMOVE Them from my phone completely? No! Why would I want them DELETED? Since when does not copying over something that is ALREADY ON THE PHONE mean that I want them deleted completely from the phone? It doesnt make any sense. None. If I dont have them all checked, it will delete the one not checked.I tried to NOT sync my apps so that I could speed up the process of just syncing my photos. So it tells me its going to delete all my apps if I do that. iTunes is such a miserable failure in the world of Apple/Mac which dominates the logic/useability world in every other arena. It continues to confound me the absolute poor structure, logic, and programming of their flagship software app.I mean seriously, how hard is it for this application to know that its already got all my apps both in itunes and on the phone? Every time I connect it, it starts copying over my apps all over again. Why? Is this 1983 when it cant tell if the app has been updated and needs synching? If someone can give me some input on these items I would appreciate it. VAIO

iPhone will not show up in iTunes 3G

My iPhone refuses to appear in iTunes 8.0.2. When I plug it in, iPhoto opens immediately and downloads pics but nothing with iTunes. I ran Disk Utility and the iPhone does not show up in there either (I dont know if its supposed to show up in DU). I restarted the Mac. I restarted the iPhone. iPhoto has no problem seeing it so the cable is good.I then tried at my MacPro at work and it showed up in iTunes without a problem so the issue is definitely with my iMac G5 or my copy of iTunes.Any suggestions?Gary iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.11) 2GB RAM

I bought an iPhone 3G several months ago and the earbud stopped allowing me to answer calls by pressing the button on the earphones or pause music. I purchased a new set and shortly after the button stopped working on the new set too. Is this a problem with software or hardware?

Accessory Connected message in iPod application iPhone 3G

Im using a 3G iPhone running version 2.2 that I connect to my car radio via a Dension IceLink connection. Apart from a few applications that I have installed, the iPhone is standard, not jailbroken.Until recently, although I received the usual this accessory is not made to work with the iPhone, would you like to use Airplane mode message whenever I connect the iPhone to the car radio, the connection worked fine and I was able to play songs through the car radio using the iPod interface on the iPhone. At first, I wasnt able to charge the iPhone. That problem is now solved since I bought the Scosche PassPort adaptor.However, a couple of days ago, a new problem occurred: I can no longer use the iPod controls when the iPhone is connected.On connecting the iPhone, I still receive the this accessory is not made to work with the iPhone, would you like to use Airplane mode message (I select NO). Travel question. iPhone 3G

I live in Seattle and am traveling to London next week. Ill be using a calling card from my hotel-- so I dont want to be charged with roaming fees or phone charges or data fees.How do I set up my iPhone to be of use to me while Im there. Should I turn on Airplane mode the whole time and simply have access to contacts and addresses, are there other settings I should know about? Are there other programs that I can download which might be of use and not require a connection?Any help is appreciated. Problems with iPhone

I have many problems using my new 3G iPhone and its really starting to annoy me.1) When you go into a lift and the reception of the phone cuts off - It takes absolutely ages for the signal to be restored. Around 5-10 minsSometimes if you leave your phone idle on the table and the reception cuts off - it could take up to 2 hrs....and i end up with 15-20 voice messages.Is it just my phone or does it happen similar to other users as well?and 2) - by far the most annoying is the texting function. I can text and receive a text from someone no problem but when they reply back.....I cannot see their name. e.g. I go and Text John on 12345678....and then when John replies to me...I get the number 44-12345678...(if in the UK). The phone doesnt recognise that it is John...When you hit the call button - it doesnt call John cos the country code should be +44.Same thing with Hong Kong ppl texting me - always I get replies starting with 852 instead of +852. I dont end up seeing who from my phone book is texting me and have to end up looking up the number..any remedies?Thanks Other OS

iPhone 3G wont backup.

Ive had this problem for awhile. When I plug my iPhone in and iTunes opens it shows it backing up. The status bar grows real slowly and then basically stops at a little less then half way. Why is this? I already deleted the current backup, but I am still having this issue when I try to sync. I also restarted my phone but still no luck.I always end up clicking the x next to where it says backing up since it never backsup.Any ideas? MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I have the original iphone. I have two problems, both just happened tonight at the same time. For seemingly no reason just my iphone external top sleep/wake button is not working. I tried powering the phone off and back on. I tried resetting my iphone, and restoring it. I made sure my Iphone software is up to date. None of these remedies have fixed the button. The button doesnt look broken, it pushes in and out, it just doesnt work anymore. Second problem is, after I power my iphone off and then back on, the Apple logo screen will continue to flash on and off indefinitely. The only way to get my home screen to appear is to connect my iphone to my computer. Then it wants to sync. After syncing it then asks if I want to power off or cancel. Huh, why does is it doing that? To turn my iphone off I am pressing my Home button down until it shuts off, since I cant power off with the top black button. Is that the reason my phone is having the second problem, because I am powering off with the Home button? Could it be my second problem is not a problem?My iphone 1 year warranty is over. I cant call Apple Care, there is no apple store near me. I need a solution I can do at home myself. Please help. Even if you think the answer is obvious please suggest it to me. Before tonight nothing was wrong with my iPhone. It all started after I let my 6 and 7 year old nephews play with Google Maps on my phone for like 10 minutes - supervised. I consider myself to be a pretty Apple tech savvy guy, yet I cant figure out if they broke my iphone somehow, nor can I fix these two problems. Please help! cant hear without headphones iPhone 3G

I have just encountered a problem where my iphone 3G will not make any noise through the standard ear piece. When I adjust the volume it seems to think that the headphones are plugged in (which they arent). If i change to speaker phone it works fine (in speaker mode) and if i actually plug the headphones it works as wellanyone lwith the same issue Mac OS X (10.4.9)

after my battery ran out yesterday afternoon, ive only got to recharging my iphone at 11pm tonight.now I cant make any call whatsoever (my sim still work in other phones)I also tried changing the time zone, turn off set automatically, restored the phone several times and reset all the settings, with no results.Please help, thanks in advance.

Strange iPhone 3G mutes sponaneously

Hello,since three days my iPhone 3G behaves a little bit strange.It started with spontaneous vibrations of my iPhone in sleep-mode without touching it. When I woke it up using the home-button it showed the white bell-symbol for one second over the normal lock screen. No, I did not receive any SMS or email Then it became worse: When waking up the phone with the home-button, it showed the strike-through mute-bell and vibrated shortly. But the slider on the upper left of the phone was still up in normal mode! When I klicked it down afterwards, nothing happened. When klicking back upwards, the normal bell-symbol showes up again.This always happens when the phone is in sleep-mode for a few minutes. Mostly it shows the white bell while waking up (okay, thats no problem, but it isnt normal either), from time to time it switches into mute mode while waking up (THATS a problem!). I can only make it ring again by klicking the switch down and up again.I already did a restore using iTunes, but that doesnt change anything. I did not install any new application which could cause the problem.Is there anybody out there who knows whats going on with my iPhone??Timo Windows Vista

Iphone Restore Help Please

I had to do a restore from backup on my iphone today because an app just totally messed up the phone. I restored from back up successfully i think all my info was back on the phone. The only problem is that now, since this is the first time that this has ever happened to me, when i try to sync it wont do anything. For example, i added new music to itunes, my settings are to sync automatically, but it wont do it, i manually have to take the song file and drag it to iphone icon on left hand side of itunes when the phone is connected for it to sync the song to the phone. I also now have to do this with ringtones that i make, and videos. When i go to the music section while iphone is connected and it says automatically sync selected songs, it did give me a message like if you check this, all your videos and songs will be deleteed. TOWER DOWN in my Chicago Land Area iPhone

OMG MY PHONE HAS NOOOOOO SERIVE....its been like this for like almost 3days now! Im tooo mad! At first i thought it was something wrong with my phone, but then when i was at work (which is in a different area) it was working FINE!! My cousin has the same phone and she lives close by me and she had the same problem and she called and they told her that it is a TOWER DOWN in Hyde Park (not to far from my house) I just wanna kno when its gonna be back up??? Im so mad i cant do anything with my phone...IS THERE ANYBODY ELSE IN MY AREA THAT IS HAVING THIS SAME problem??????????? Dude its a Dell... Windows XP

I Feel Cheated iPhone

Ive had my iPhone since June and have been suffering far less than satisfactory results in the 3g area... I first had problems getting hold of a 3G signal period until FW 2.2 was issued. Since then I get 3G more often (although not as much as id deem normal) and have recently tried to pinpoint myself with GPS feature in the maps app.I tried several times taping on the location button (little blue crossair) and everytime id do that itd pinpoint my location but only with a circle crossair (around 50m wide). Im writting this because if I didnt have 3G this would be normal but here, Im at full 5 bars in 3G mode and no little blue GPS dot anywhere in sight, even after waiting awhile. I did a speed test in a fully covered area just to make sure and my speed is lower than 400k when it should normaly be 7megs (which in reality should roughly transfer to 3megs in my opinion).has anyone had this problem and has anyone found a solution to it ?PS: Im in the senter of town in geneva switzerland in case. iPhone 3G Windows XP Pro

so disappointed with no file storing ability iPhone

I’m annoyed that Apple didn’t make file storing available to begin with (in such a highly sophisticated and versatile device!!!), and I have to spend more money and time on more stuff (i.e. third party apps which require either a wi-fi network -> need to buy router, or a mobile-me account, etc. etc., researching it all, installing it all).Main reason for posting this is not so much becasuse Im looking for answers, but because I hope many many will agree with me and Apple will get the message.I love love love my iPhone, but hate hate hate that I cant store PDFs of my business contract, price list, etc. So basic and standard nowadays, I mean, even all of Apples documentation comes in PDF format.Apple, make a software update that allows file storage! G5
