My iphone 4 powered off by itself while i was using it. I know it didnt go dead, becuause it had 40% battery left, It will not charge, and my lock button is broken. It will not come on at all when i plug in the charger. Can someone please help and tell me if there is anyway i can power it back on myself?
I am able to power down my iPhone 5, by sliding the red slider. But then about 30 seconds later, it powers back up by itself. I've already done the Sleep/Snooze button and the Home button together for 10 seconds, but to no avail. Any other suggestions?
When a call or text is coming throug there is no sound. The settings seem fine. When I switch the side button to red nothing happens. What used to happen would be the bell sign would come up with a line through it indicating the ringer was switched off but now nothing happens whichever way I switch it. Vibrate is switched on in settings but it isn't vibrating either. Interestingly the alarm is working so the sounds are not completely gone. I have powered it off an back on etc., but it hasn't made any difference. Any advice. Thanks Paula
Lately I've been turning off my phone and when I turn it back on battery is drained. Yesterday I turned it off at 80% and when I turned it back on 3 hours later it was at 62%. Then today I turned it off at 50% and when I turned it back on it was at 32%! Does anyone know why my iPhone is losing battery even when it's completely powered off? I feel like it shouldn't be losing any battery at all
All of a sudden I lost my wifi signal....Checked out the settings and the WiFi is off and unable to turn it back on....i have powered down the phone...i have done a full restore and the wifi switched remains greyed out....any suggestions?
Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help : My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... ' I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue. My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ? Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i? My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Please can someone help... model a1332
Hi, I have an iPhone 4S with wifi button grayed out similar to the case here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559andhttps://discussions.apple.com/thread/4638071?start=0&tstart=0 I already performed a network reset, reset to factory setting and updated eveything via itunes. I know that its most likely a hardward issue as stated in the forum. Now here is the problem. I bought the iphone from a local (philippines) online reseller http://lazada.com.ph. Lazada would only give the the apple 1-800-1441-0234 number and will not accept any repairs and service. I would never purchase anything from lazada specially electronics because of how they handled my case. Absolutely no support and repair /service channels for iphones bought from them. As per lazadas advice, I called the 1800 number and was again adviced to call the local carriers. I was adviced by the apple chat support to contact my local carriers. Local carriers like smart and globe would only accept repairs and service for iphones bought from them. I visited several local apple reseller stores and they decline to render service because the unit was not bought from them. I cant seem to get technical support and have the iphone checked by an authorized service center. What and where is the proper channel for me to get support and have the unit repaired or replaced? Thank you in advance.
Well I tried turning off the Bluetooth, turning off WIFI, turning off location services, and all Push activity. After all of this my battery lasts about 8 hours. I guess I could keep the phone powered off but I think that kind of defeats the purpose of owning the phone. Any studies on the lifespan of an iPhone 4 battery? My applecare warranty runs out in a few months.
Recently, my iPhone 4s has been producing distortion in the right channel when playing back music and/or making VOIP calls. It is now starting on the left channel as well. Making cellular calls is fine (no distortion). Playing music through the doc connector is fine. Playing music through bluetooth is fine. Have I fried my onboard DSP for the onboard audio output devices? When I record video, audio is unbearably distorted.
My mom passed me her phone as she couldn't get it to restart. I got it to charge and restart in recovery mode. However, I've tried all steps on this and many other forums and it is stuck in "trying to restore". On the phone, it will blink a white screen, show the apple logo and a progress bar then quickly disappear then on the computer give me error code 9. I have tried 3 different cords, on both my MacBook Air and my iMac. Same results on both computers. She purchased a new phone as she couldn't do without, but would love to fix this phone and give to one of my children. This phone has not been jailbroken. Any help would be sooooo appreciated! Not sure what will happen if I try to take this to Apple.
My Iphone 5 has been connected succesfully via bluetooth to my car for the past 5 months (Ford Fiesta). Yesterday I went to use it and it wont connect, I powered off the phone, turned bluetooth on/off still not working. I debonded all phones from the car and went to start afresh but that wont work either. When it is searching for devices it just seems to be stuck? I tried another Iphone 5 in my car and that connected no problems at all. Anyone have any ideas, it clearly must be the phone but wonder what on earth I have done.
You're not addressing Apple here, just iPhone users, please don't provide your personal data like serial/imei numbers Have you tried this article? http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424

My iPhone 4s is not charging. Last few days it was eating up the battery life quicker than usual. Tried doing all the power up deals, turning off then on, even a restore. It is now completely powered off and not turning on even when plugged in. I'm out of ideas. A little help please! Thanks
We have been having trouble with our iPhone 4. It will just die. I researched the web and was able to find the information to restart it by pushing both buttons. This resets it, but does not last. I did a complete reset on the phone then updated it, but it continues to turn off and has to be restarted. It is out of warranty, any help would be great.
I just started to get a SIM Failure Pop up on my iphone 5on Thursday while traveling and using Maps fornavigation. I cannot seem to remove or repair this error.I have gone to yoru support page and followedinstructions on how to reset network.I first tried to send a text and failure came up. Then resetnetwork and text went through, but pop up still came upwith Sim Failure every time I turn my phone on.I also followed instructions to remove Sim Card whenturned off and Reinserted it and that did not work either. What do I do? I have powered off, updated phone andanything on yoru site I couldl handle myself to do.Can you fix this? Or is it a Verizon Wireless issue?
Sometime around the Feb 8, I suddenly lost capability to access the internet thru the Virgin/Sprint 3g network and Safari. Wifi works fine, as well as phone and text. Have contacted Virgin multiple times with no result. Spent 3 hours in Apple store, who gave me a new 4s but it has the same problem. Have tried every solution seen on the net, including soft & hard reboots, toggling Airplane mode, and network reset. I have not yet done a factory reset, holding that as a last resort. Odd thing is that some apps do work on 3g: Phone, Messages, Google Maps, Translator, Game Center, Skype, Clock, Xfinity TV, iCloud, and Opera Mini. What doesn't work are: Safari, Weather channel, Xfinity Mobile, Google, Chrome, Dictionary, Stocks, Apple App & iTunes Store, Movie Night, Gas Buddy, White Pages, Apple Maps, Google Earth, and many more. The odd thing is that I can access Google through Opera Mini, and that works fine. I left the Apple Store convinced that the problem lay with Virgin Wireless, but after a lot of online investigation, I am beginning to think that it may be an iPhone problem. Is there anybody out there who can make some sense of what works and what doesn't and diagnose this problem so I can get the phone working back to where it is supposed to?
I dropped my iPhone from waist height flat onto the back (I have a zoogue case on it), and now grey vertical lines appear down the left side of the screen. I have powered off holding the home/power button, but nothing changed. I can't swipe to unlock it, so I can't type in my password in order to back it up over the cloud/my computer before resetting it. Has this happened to anyone? Suggestions? Home fixes? Or am I helpless?
Hello Apple Commuinty, Recently my partners iphone will not let her to connect to WiFi as On/Off selection under WiFi is greyed out. We have tried all info shown in article TS1559 and still no joy. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,Mike
I have iPhone 4S it has a H2o SIM card that's worked for about 6 months no problem then one day it said SIM card failure I powered phone on/off once and started working again. Two weeks later it took 3-4 times of me cycling power on/off and removing SIM card and reinstalling it in order to get it to work. Then a week later it did same thing but took even longer. Now it won't read at all and I thought it was SIM card so I went and bought a new SIM card but no change, I looked online for help and even tried to put tape on tray/card like someone said but no change(if I even putting the tape in right place. I tried several different ways) Nothing seems to work. My phone was manufactured between 19-25 of March 2012 so hopefully I can get warranty but not original owner so not sure. Does anyone have any idea what can cause this? Why hasn't Apple fixed this problem since its been happening for a long time
There is an article today indicated that the Associated Press has discovered that the iPhone 5 from Verizon Wireless is unlocked and will work with an AT&T sim on the AT&T Network. The article did not state if the phone will also work on other networks. A Verizon spokesperson has verified that indeed their version of the iPhone 5 is unlocked.
Hello I got a really strange and annoying problem regarding my iphone 4 audio jack. the problem is whenever I play a sound the right channel of the headphones play's music really scrappy and low quality, especially the bass. but on the left channel everything works as it suppose. I am starting to suspect that it is a hardware because even after a clean restore it is the same and if the volume level is under half'ish then the right channel will barely work untill the volume is raised to 3/4 of the max volume making it seem more hardware related. thing I tried: clean IOS restore checking the jack with other headphones/stereo systems all of which gave the same results (right channel scrappy and left is clear) I also tested the headphones themselves. thanks Tal
FYI guys. I powered down my phone for a couple hours, then went back to the App Store. It had a fifth update, but this time it allowed me to complete my updates. Dunno if that helps you guys.
As stated, iphone4S is the smartest phone available. I lost my iphone4S recently and the person who took it, immediately powered it off. I signed in icloud and put my phone in stollen mode using Find My Phone utility which is still pending. I got the sim blocked and reported to police. They will deal it in their own way. My question is: are there other methods to trace my phone?
Im a iphone5 user, also I am using the IOS 6.1 system.but nowadays I am facing to a terrible problem. The phone suddenly powered off when I open a app on the phone, and the screen become black slowly, and then the white apple come here. after that, sometimes it may become good. but the problem is still exist.
A few days ago, the LED light came on and won't turn off - not even when powered down. I do not have any flashlight apps or anything that uses it other than the camera, what should I do?
updated to the 6.1 last week. I have a app for a local news paper that I pay a monthly fee to read on line and now since the update I have to sign in every time I read a diffrent article. What changed?
I'm trying to turn on my iPhone. It's powered off, and the lock button is broken. I think it turns itself back on when charged from 0%, but it was at 100% before this occurred, so it would take forever to drain the battery. Is there a way to kick the iPhone into being powered on?
I have an iphone 4 that is less than a year old that stopped taking a charge. So I let tje units battery die and one day decided to plug it in. It gav me the battery icon and indicated it was charging. As soon as it powered itself on it no longer showed the battery was charging and died a few minutes later. I'm really confuses by this. Any suggestions?

I just bought the Iphone 5 two days ago. I am having a lot of issues connecting to every other network but my own network at home At home I am using a N900 Cisco Router. The security settings on it are WPA2, My verizon carrier update is version 13.3 and I have updated to IO6.0.2. I have reset the phone to factory defualts, I have reset the network, I have powered off the phone and done everything I could to get them to work on this network. Personal. Now I have been to my girlfriends parents and many other places that are public and even after double checking the password. the Iphone 5 From Trouble shooting: I have noticed that the Iphone 5 doesn't seem to like many security options on the routers. Even on my new router I tried several different security options and it seemed to like WPA2 the best. Othrwise I was getting major issues. The iphone would connect sometimes only to be slow and not connect. The wifi signal would keep being scanned and would go out and come back in. The signal strength also qould keep fluctuation even when near the router. My brothers same andriod device was doing the same thing. My brothers Iphone 5 was doing the same thing when using the different networks. Apple there is a major problem here that needs to be addressed when refering to wifi. Considering most carriers now charge for data it is important that if I have access to all the wifi networks I can connect too. This is a major issue that needs to be resolved and looking at the forums it is not an isolated incident. Recomendations: People who call in with this issue, need to have phones replaced if not able to patch, Since no patch exists at the moment, it would be prudent to offer people who are having trouble a credit towards their wireless bill by working with cell providers and to have apple issue a version of an RMA number. Until the issue is resolved. I have 17 days to return my phone to verizon and I am going to wait to hear back. My girlfriend is in the market for a new phone and we can't have issues with a wifi connection especially when charges are going to ensue if we go over our data. Plus the unavailability of a network in areas my cell provider is not able to help with is important. We as apple users need immediate attention to this matter and it is not a matter of how the phone scans for networks. It is an issue with connectivity and how it is communicating with certain encryptions with the routers. Fix need asap. This issue is also not localized to the Iphone 5 as it is happening on the Ipad 4
My IP5 intermittently locks up (frozen screen) when the charger cord is plugged in and the battery is charged to 100%. At least, that's the only time I've noticed it. As soon as I remove the charger cord, it works normally again. Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if this is a bug that Apple will have to address?
Woke up to find out my iphone had sent out about 30 emails to contacts (not my full contact list - guessing maybe the last 30 contacts that have been either received/sent via email). The web site isn't one I ever remember accessing (which in iteself is weird). http://dcrconsultores.com.br/pbolqlx.pho This is a fairly new phone acquired from my provider TELUS sent directly from TELUS during the inital shipment of iphone 5's last year. I am on the latest IOS 6.0.2....model MD295C....... Any suggestions on how to fix the problem Yes I have a window's PC.....but it was powered off last night when the emails went out from my iphone....also when I checked this morning there were no outgoing emails in Outllook.......
I am having issues connecting to my AirPort Extreme router from both of the iPhones that I have in my household. One of the iPhones is an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.2 and the other is an iPhone 4S running the latest version of iOS 5. Both of these devices have difficulty connecting to the access point in question, and will encounter one of the two scenarios: upon joining the network will get an error stating that the network cannot be joined, or after a successful join the devices will have extremely slow connections (15-30 seconds to get a ping back from the router) to which a point it is highly preferred to switch back to a cellular connection for speed reasons. There are many other wireless devices in the house that are functioning normally, including two MacBook pros and an Xbox 360 all over wireless, and one desktop over a wired connection. I've scanned the area wifi and have moved the Airport's channel to one that is not in use. It seems that this issue is isolated to the iPhones in particular. Given that the two devices are different models, running different firmware and that other wireless devices can connect without issue I am at a loss on how to proceed with my troubleshooting.
I left my iphone sitting on the dashboard of a taxi and forgot to lift it. As soon as I got out of the taxi, I remembered so I rang the taxi company to get it for me. I also rang the phone and it was turned off, which is strange as two minutes earlier it was on and it had a 80% battery life so I knew something was strange. Suprise suprise the taxi company never found it. I went on to icloud and put the phone (the device was called jacks iphone) in lost mode and tried to track it but it was offline so I could never find it. Now several weeks down the line I went back on to icloud and this mysterious device TonkhawiPhone7_ was in my list of devices. Its an iphone 4 as well. So could this be my iphone and the person who now has it has changed the name of the device? It doesn't appear to allow me to put it in lost mode for some reason. Can apple help me get my iphone back? Thanks for reading
I have a new iphone5. I have it poweredoff and plugged into the wall, but I am not getting any charging icon. Any ideas?.. Bill Steed
Around 5am this morning I picked up my phone to look at the time and noticed that it said 'searching.....' where my carrier name should be, normally I get great signal in my home. I didn't think much of it and went back to sleep. When I woke up two hours later it still said 'searching' so I toggled airplane mode with no change. I then powered the phone off with no change, next I did a hard reset by holding the power button and home button till it shut down. Same result. 'searching.......' forever. I then plugged my iPhone into my computer and loaded up itunes, it correctly identified my phone then asked me to backup and update it to 6.0.2 firmware. Thinking that this may clear whatever bug may be affecting the 3g radio I accepted and started the process. The phone backed up without issue (thank goodness) but then as it was about to complete the firmware update it threw a -1 error back. Multiple re-attempts at restoring did not work. The iPhone now just displays the 'connect to itunes' screen. A few minutes of searching revealed that it was most likely a hardware issue. This phone has been babied, kept in a simple, low profile case, never dropped, no moisture whatsoever has touched it. It really ***** that this would happen out of the blue like this. Apple is taking care of me though, with no Apple retail shop anywhere close to me, they offered to cross-ship a new phone to me. I don't mind the hold on my credit card. Should be here just after christmas.
Problem on getting wifi to switch on Cannot slide the icon across at all Have reset powered down and still not working
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2246056/Woman-takes-picture-mobile-phone -stolen-nightclub-unwittingly-sends-owner.html A woman has unwittingly taken a picture of herself on a stolen iPhone that has then been sent to its rightful owner. With a downloaded app, the owner was able to take a photo of the woman as she tried to unlock the +$400 (£319) mobile phone, as well as map the phone's location after it was stolen from the Coalition nightclub in Brighton, East Sussex earlier this month. The owner, armed with the information and the photo emailed to them by the app, called Sussex Police. The dark-haired woman appeared to be sitting in a car as she tried to access the white iPhone 4. Police said they do not know whether the woman pictured was responsible for the theft but they appealed for her or anyone who recognises her to contact them. Pc Gavin Crute, of Sussex Police, said: ‘The owner of the camera has a rather cool app that takes a picture of anyone who tries to unlock it, maps their current location and then sends all the info back to the owner in an email. ‘We know where and when the photo was taken and it appears to be in a vehicle with quite a large sunroof. ‘We don't know that the woman is the person who stole the camera, but she obviously has had some connection with it in the meantime and I'd like to speak to her about it.’ Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101. There are various iPhone apps that track stolen iPhones. It is thought that the app used was iGotYa which is activated when a wrong passcode is entered into the phone keypad. iGotYa is a third-party app, made by Cyndia, which is not available in the official Apple store. It is an alternative to Apple's free Find My iPhone software, which shows a stolen phone's approximate location on a map but does not take a picture of its user. Device Locator costs $2.99 (£1.86) allows the phone owner to track the location of a misplaced iPhone and take a photo which is then sent to a website where the photo can be viewed. This app also allows the user to trigger an audible alarm on the phone. GadgetTrak costs $3.99 (£2.48) can generate location reports, send discreet messages to the device and also take a photo of the thief. The latest statistics reveal 170 iPhones are stolen every day in London, many of them from pedestrians targeted by muggers on bicycles. The wife of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason recently said she is now too scared to use her phone in public after she was mugged while walking her dogs. Annette Mason had her iPhone snatched from her grasp by a bike-riding hoodie as she was trying to send a text. Okay just who do I gotta convince at Apple to get them to add this to the App Store? Or at least get the feature where a picture, location, date & time is sent back to my email whenever someone enters in the wrong password? I just heard about this story today & taught that's an incredibly beneficial feature to have. Now my iPhones not jailbroken and I really have no interest in jailbreaking so I can't get this app but I would vary much like to see this added to Find My iPhone.
So according to this article the only sensor is on the SIM tray but shouldnt it be one in the headphone jack or on the lightning connector?
I've reset my Jawbone Prime. It goes into auto pairing mode. iPhone 5 sees "jawbone" but won't pair. Any advice? I've already tried the following protocols from online support communities. Thanks for your help, Janet To reset your Jawbone Prime simply follow the steps listed below: 1. Press and hold down the Talk Button on the Jawbone Prime. (It does not matter whether the Prime is on or off.) 2. Connect the Jawbone Prime to the USB charger cable. (The cable needs to be plugged into an active USB port or to an electrical outlet via the Wall Charger unit.) 3. Release the Talk Button. 4. Disconnect the Jawbone Prime from the USB charger cable. Turn on the Jawbone. It should begin to flash red every six seconds when it is turned on. While it is flashing red press the following sequence of buttons. NoiseAssassin Button, Talk Button, Talk Button, NoiseAssassin Button, Talk Button, Talk Button The Jawbone should flash red/white/red/white showing that it is in a manual pairing mode. Pairing mode will last for three minutes or until pairing is complete. THIRD : powered up iphone 4 while Jawbone flashing red/white. Turned on Bluetooth ( Settings / General /Bluetooth ON ). Jawbone PAIRED with iphone4 AUTOMATICALLY ( no request for 0000 code ) and Jawbone flashes WHITE when paired and on. I tried this too:i was having problems with pairing my "JAWBONE" bluetooth device. i followed the directions and still nothing. i turned on the bluetooth on my iphone the auto search kept searching for devices but nothing would show up. i called tech support and was told to go to "settings" then switch the "airplane mode" on and off several times then turn the bluetooth on and off and then back on. it started worked instantly!

I finally upgraded to a iPhone 5 from my old 3G and I cannot get it to connect ot my home WiFi. It can see the WiFi and I have WEP encription on the network using a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router and 128bit encryption and when I enter the password, the iPhone gives me an "incorrect Password" warning. I have tried several times to enter it and even texted it to the phone and copied and pasted it to avoid any typos to no avail. I have powered down the router, removed the encryption, tried another encryption key, rebooted the iPhone but cannot get it to connect. This is a router with a 802.11 g and b protocol working on channel 11 and I have not had issue with our iPad 2, my wife's iPhone 3GS, my old iPhone 3G or our Macbook Pro. I also tried to enter the network manually and it just does not want to accept the password whether it needs one or not. What am I not doing correctly? I say that there were some issues when people upgraded from an earlier operating system to the current one but this is a new phone as of yesterday??
Since I have the new iPhone 5 I notice a bad calling voice quality. Especially at home were I had before never problems with my iPhone 3. The person on the other side understands my fine only I cannot understand the calling person. At the conversation parts are missing, that I even not understand what the other person means. Carrier is O2 in Germany, I already order a new SIM Card on the advice of the Apple Support, where I already open up a case. What I am concerned about and is Apple already working on this, is that I already found a lot of forum article, about this issue and all didn’t had any solution, even after change the SIM card and replacement iPhone from Apple the bad calling voice quality stayed.
I have to double click my buttons before it accepts my inputs (i.e. passcode numbers). Just started today. Have powered it down severla times. The screen seems to be locked also, will not let me navagate up or down with finger. Help!
Hello, I am attempting to find a fix for my iPhone's battery draining too fast. Two days ago I purchased a new iPhone 5, the long battery life of the iPhone was one of the key reasons I upgraded. However I noticed after getting home that the battery was draining very rapidly (with 4 hours of normal usage) I have attempted to resolve this issue my turning off bluetooth and wifi when not in use. I have also looked online via a google search to see if I was the only one having this issue. It seems that there are some bugs in iOS 6, I am including one my crash reports with the hope that someone will be able to help me resolve this issue. Thank you in advance. timestamp: 1352515396429crashReporterKey: "50116e7ebd32bf746befd265bccc1b54e7c2a4ab"isAnonymous: truedeviceConfigId: 152investigationId: 0model: "iPhone5,2"softwareBuild: Having problems connecting to WiFi router at both home, work, and at public hotspots. I have the iPad from April 2012 which is also on iOS 6 and has no problems connecting. I cannot see nor connect to WiFi routers anywhere. If I turn my phone off at night, and turn it on in the morning, it works for around 30 minutes before the WiFi is lost. I can also put my phone in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer for a few minutes (10 minutes or so) and it will work for about 30 minutes also. My guess is that the heat sensor or whatever type of sensor saves the iPhone from any type of thermal damage is malfunctioning following iOS 6. I'm wondering if the thermal disabling limit was programmed in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius, and maybe that's the mix-up. Prior to the iOS 6 upgrade, everything was fine with my phone, and I could connect to routers all over. As I'm able to connect with my wife's iPhone 4S to the same access points I can't even "see" on my iPhone, I believe it's a software issue. She's still running iOS 5.1.1 because I won't let her upgrade. Thoughts or advice? I do NOT want to return this to Apple to get a refurbished device in exchange for my new device. I truly believe this is a software based issue. If there was a way to go back to iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4S I'd love to hear it. Thanks. My iPhone 4 used to be able yo upload to youtube. Since I got iCloud I cannot anymore. I get the message: We see irregularities in the aspect ratio of your uploaded video file. If your upload does not fit well in the video player, read this article for tips. What's going on?
