Ringer not working iPhone 4S

When a call or text is coming throug there is no sound. The settings seem fine. When I switch the side button to red nothing happens. What used to happen would be the bell sign would come up with a line through it indicating the ringer was switched off but now nothing happens whichever way I switch it. Vibrate is switched on in settings but it isn't vibrating either. Interestingly the alarm is working so the sounds are not completely gone.  I have powered it off an back on etc., but it hasn't made any difference. Any advice. Thanks Paula

iPhone 5-rattling phone second replacement coming

hi guys. i can see this is a common issue. i have heard a few different reasons about why this is happening. either it's the autofocus mechanism or the vibrate motor.whatever the reason, this should not be happening on a £600 piece of hardware. the quality control at apple is not what it used to be and when they are rushing to manufacture millions of devices to tight deadlines in china then this is a problem that was going to happen sooner or later.i am of the opinion that this is a fault with possibly more than 50% of all iphones manufactured to date and apple needs to do a product recall. it seems that they have told staff to not admit this as a fault to try and avoid just that.i got a replacement and it arrived, the rattle was slightly less noticable but definitely still there. i just ordered another replacement and will continue to keep doing so until i get a device that doesn't rattle.before anyone says that this is normal and it is SUPPOSED to rattle, that is BS. i have been to the apple store in brighton and tried the display models and even tried a few they had in the back after speaking with a staff member. out of the 12 phones i went through, 2 didnt rattle AT ALL. Now you tell me if that is normal and people should just put up with the substandard product that apple has churned out this time. I say NO, and the more people that actually make a stand, the quicker apple will be forced to spend some of their $600B on fixing this issue.

iPhone 4 battery drain when powered off

Lately I've been turning off my phone and when I turn it back on battery is drained. Yesterday I turned it off at 80% and when I turned it back on 3 hours later it was at 62%. Then today I turned it off at 50% and when I turned it back on it was at 32%! Does anyone know why my iPhone is losing battery even when it's completely powered off? I feel like it shouldn't be losing any battery at all

Wifi greyed out on Iphone 4s

All of a sudden I lost my wifi signal....Checked out the settings and the WiFi is off and unable to turn it back on....i have powered down the phone...i have done a full restore and the wifi switched remains greyed out....any suggestions?

Twice frontal glass broken on Iphone 5

Hello, I'm an "old" user of Iphone ... 3S, 4, 5 .... on this last one for two times I've broken the frontal glass... never happened with older models Honestly in the first time I have nothing to say because unfortunately my phone fell down bumping the frontal glass on a small stone (from an height of about 1 meter from my pants pocket) and the glass has broken  .... but in the second case it fallen down on the back face on a plate surface always from an height of 1 meter and in this second situation my phone was also protected a little bit in a gum cover  I choose again APPLE product and especially this model without considering equivalent models of other competitors also for roughness (saw a lot of demo video on the web) but I'm very disappointed from the reality .... I payed twice (220 Euro each time) the replacement with 2 new phone becuse glass broken ae not under guarantee but for this second situation I don't agree with the policy of APPLE and I espect from them at least a commercial action to me because this second payed replacement is absolutely unaccetable .... Roberto (Italy)

Multiple iPhone 4S issues continuing

I am tired of my iPhone 4S already after suffering through issues upon issues with the device. My screen is having issues now where at a moment's chance it goes dim. I have to reset the device to get the brightness back to normal. I've tried restoring without any luck of this resolving. Another gripe I have is that I'm continuing to have issues with apps like Mail, Safari, and other Apple installed apps just continuously force closing. I've been sending emails back and forth on my iPhone only to have Mail force close and I lose everything in my message. The phone acts sluggish and performs worse than previous 4S devices I've owned. I've had issues upon issues across multiple iPhone 4S devices. The device I have currently is my 5th iPhone 4S and even tho its less than a few months old after it was sent to me after multiple filler iPhones of refurb models from the store, I continue to experience issues that make me use my iPhone less and less as it becomes more unreliable with the crashes and multiple restores. My closest store is not within close distance so that's made owning an iPhone with issues difficult as not every thread on the communities forum touch on half the problems I continue to have. Thankfully at least Siri knows where I'm located compared to my other devices where she always thought I was in Pittsburgh where I picked the phone up at my nearest store over an hour and a half away. Now everything just seems to be more of a deficiency with iOS and the hardware than anything. Obviously there must be something wrong with the latest stocks of 4S devices if my issues are continuing. When I restore I'm always setting up as a new device. I'm never downloading or redownloading anything from my Mac or PC. Everything is just redownloading apps from iCloud within the App Store and having a ton of missing photos in my photo stream. I just don't understand what is wrong with my iPhone. I never experienced these kind of issues with my iPhone 3GS so its hard to swallow how terrible the 4S has performed with every single device I keep getting. I'm at a loss on what I can do. Does anyone have any tips I should try that Apple hasn't provided me with to fix or at least band-aid the issue long enough till I can upgrade with my carrier?

Battery life-iphone 4

Well I tried turning off the Bluetooth, turning off WIFI, turning off location services, and all Push activity.  After all of this my battery lasts about 8 hours.  I guess I could keep the phone powered off but I think that kind of defeats the purpose of owning the phone. Any studies on the lifespan of an iPhone 4 battery?  My applecare warranty runs out in a few months.

What happens when you follow all steps in this article but your 4s repeatedly gives you an error code 9 and you've changed cords AND computers and nothing working

My mom passed me her phone as she couldn't get it to restart.  I got it to charge and restart in recovery mode.  However, I've tried all steps on this and many other forums and it is stuck in "trying to restore".  On the phone, it will blink a white screen, show the apple logo and a progress bar then quickly disappear then on the computer give me error code 9.  I have tried 3 different cords, on both my MacBook Air and my iMac.  Same results on both computers.  She purchased a new phone as she couldn't do without, but would love to fix this phone and give to one of my children.  This phone has not been jailbroken.  Any help would be sooooo appreciated!  Not sure what will happen if I try to take this to Apple.

Iphone 5 no longer connecting to bluetooth in car

My Iphone 5 has been connected succesfully via bluetooth to my car for the past 5 months (Ford Fiesta).  Yesterday I went to use it and it wont connect, I powered off the phone, turned bluetooth on/off still not working. I debonded all phones from the car and went to start afresh but that wont work either. When it is searching for devices it just seems to be stuck?  I tried another Iphone 5 in my car and that connected no problems at all. Anyone have any ideas, it clearly must be the phone but wonder what on earth I have done.

iphone 5 currently on 3g network will it work as well in 4gLTE

As the title suggests, I am in a country where no 4g is available yet, so im using it on a 3g network (Im in Taiwan by the way). I am going on a business trip and hope to use the 4g lte network there (through prepaid sim card). I have searched for the models that support 4g lte (like A1428-29). Mine is MD300TA. I have searched this model num and I couldnt find it except in Taiwan web. Anybody how has the similar model number and have used it in 4g networks? i bought a model A1428 from the US but i live in Kuwait. the iphone works perfectly fine except for the fact that it does not support 4G in Kuwait. since im not living in the US, thats a problem. is there anyway i can switch models? and if i can, will the verizon model support 4G in kuwait? i am going to the US in a couple of months so hopefully i will have a solution by then.

iPhone 4s not charging

My iPhone 4s is not charging.  Last few days it was eating up the battery life quicker than usual.  Tried doing all the power up deals, turning off then on, even a restore.  It is now completely powered off and not turning on even when plugged in.  I'm out of ideas.  A little help please!Thanks

We have been having trouble with our iPhone 4. It will just die. I researched the web and was able to find the information to restart it by pushing both buttons. This resets it, but does not last. I did a complete reset on the phone then updated it, but it continues to turn off and has to be restarted. It is out of warranty, any help would be great.

I just started to get a SIM Failure Pop up on my iphone 5on Thursday while traveling and using Maps fornavigation. I cannot seem to remove or repair this error.I have gone to yoru support page and followedinstructions on how to reset network.I first tried to send a text and failure came up. Then resetnetwork and text went through, but pop up still came upwith Sim Failure every time I turn my phone on.I also followed instructions to remove Sim Card whenturned off and Reinserted it and that did not work either.What do I do? Vertical Grey lines iPhone 5

I dropped my iPhone from waist height flat onto the back (I have a zoogue case on it), and now grey vertical lines appear down the left side of the screen. I have powered off holding the home/power button, but nothing changed. I can't swipe to unlock it, so I can't type in my password in order to back it up over the cloud/my computer before resetting it. Has this happened to anyone? Suggestions? Home fixes? Or am I helpless?

IPhone 4S stopped reading S card after 6 months

I have iPhone 4S it has a H2o SIM card that's worked for about 6 months no problem then one day it said SIM card failure I powered phone on/off once and started working again. Two weeks later it took 3-4 times of me cycling power on/off and removing SIM card and reinstalling it in order to get it to work. Then a week later it did same thing but took even longer. Now it won't read at all and I thought it was SIM card so I went and bought a new SIM card but no change, I looked online for help and even tried to put tape on tray/card like someone said but no change(if I even putting the tape in right place. I tried several different ways) Nothing seems to work. My phone was manufactured between 19-25 of March 2012 so hopefully I can get warranty but not original owner so not sure. Does anyone have any idea what can cause this? Why hasn't Apple fixed this problem since its been happening for a long time

Verizon iPhone 5-UNLOCKED

There is an article today indicated that the Associated Press has discovered that the iPhone 5 from Verizon Wireless is unlocked and will work with an AT&T sim on the AT&T Network.  The article did not state if the phone will also work on other networks.  A Verizon spokesperson has verified that indeed their version of the iPhone 5 is unlocked.

iPhone 5 App store Shows Updates 4 but won t show which apps to update

I signed in icloud and put my phone in stollen mode using Find My Phone utility which is still pending. I got the sim blocked and reported to police. They will deal it in their own way. My question is: are there other methods to trace my phone?

iphone 5 english used in Germany update problem account not valid

HiI am using iphone 5 english language in Germany..I had a notification of two app updates yesterday which I wanted to do.Once in a sudden I get a notice saying :"Account not in this store.Your account is not valid for use in the U.S. store.You must switch to the german store before purchasing." I had not changed anything.I connected the phone via cable to my computer and had a look at the store to see to which country it is set there...Germany.So there is no problem with that.Just on the phone it is set to the US and I do not know how to change that.I went to the apple store and clicked (at the bottom )on change country ..but nothing happens.Any idea what I can do?Thanks Tina

How to turn on powered off iPhone without hardware buttons

I'm trying to turn on my iPhone.  It's powered off, and the lock button is broken.  I think it turns itself back on when charged from 0%, but it was at 100% before this occurred, so it would take forever to drain the battery. Is there a way to kick the iPhone into being powered on?

I have an iphone 4 that is less than a year old that stopped taking a charge. So I let tje units battery die and one day decided to plug it in. It gav me the battery icon and indicated it was charging. As soon as it powered itself on it no longer showed the battery was charging and died a few minutes later. I'm really confuses by this. Hi, In case any of you is wondering about iPhone 5 models and whether they work in Europe if bought in the US, I would like to share my successful experience: You can buy a Verizon unlocked phone in an Apple Store in the US. Be prepared for the Apple Store person to be a little confused and ignore the "but that is not GSM" or "CDMA does not work in Europe".Check and make sure that it is model A1429. Further check that it is a Verizon model [1]. This can be done by parsing one of the ends of the box with all the barcodes without having to open the plastic.Not sure this makes a difference, but I replaced the stock Verizon SIM with my European SIM before activating in iTunes. <- Is this really needed?The phone works with my European SIM in the US, UK, FR, and CH.3G works without a hitch and the rates are much better than in the iPhone 3G.Enjoy a >10% discount on a fully unlocked phone. I have not yet tested LTE. it alright to charge iPhone while its off iPhone 4S

It usually takes approximately 2hours to charge my battery drained iPhone(4s). I'm wondering if I shut it down while charging would lessen the number of hours of charging. My concern is, if ever its system have a software/hardware that would prevent it from overcharging, still work while its off. Same question goes to other iPhone models and all iPod and iPad generations.

Battery drained-in airplane mode iPhone 5

Hi all My iPhone 5 was on 65%. I closed all my apps and out it into airplane mode and when I woke up 8hrs later my phone battery had completely drained and had switched itself off.  This has NEVER happened with any of my 3 models of iPhones and I am a bit concerned.  All apps were closed. Airplane mode was active so no wifi  or cellular connection Can anyone advise? Thanks.

My experience with apple iPhone 4S

So just today I rang up apple with a wiggly home button problem. The home button wiggles up and down slightly. I compared it to other models from other service providers other than my own and none of their iphones had this problem. So I rang apple with my problem and this is what I got. I recieved my iphone 4s on the 4th of January (it's now the 18th in NZ) and rang on the 18th as well. He told me I should of reported the problem earlier to recieve a brand new iphone in the box which I should have done within 10 days (I have read this nowhere and had no information about that) And I was given 2 options the express option for them to send me a refurb for 60ish bucks and then I send them the phone. Or for me to send them the phone first and have them check it out then send me the refurb. Neither of these options worked for me as I only work part time to live on and I also need my phone for contacts with my boss and family etc. And also there is no apple service provider in my area. So I just told him I'd live with it and if serious problems arose I'd ring back in the future. I've never really purchased electronic products myself, so going about this was confusing. Is this issue really worth panicking over or is it more common than I think? I spent a lot of money on this product and can't afford to spend any more on it especially as I'm going back to school very soon. He told me there was a service provider in my country but he couldn't give me the address or location, just told me to enter postcodes till I found one.  Any advice or thoughts?

Unable to connect to wireless Network Iphone 5

I just bought the Iphone 5 two days ago. I am having a lot of issues connecting to every other network but my own network at home At home I am using a N900 Cisco Router. The security settings on it are WPA2, My verizon carrier update is version 13.3 and I have updated to IO6.0.2. I have reset the phone to factory defualts, I have reset the network, I have powered off the phone and done everything I could to get them to work on this network.   Personal. Now I have been to my girlfriends parents and many other places that are public and even after double checking the password. the Iphone 5  From Trouble shooting: I have noticed that the Iphone 5 doesn't seem to like many security options on the routers. Even on my new router I tried several different security options and it seemed to like WPA2 the best. Othrwise I was getting major issues. The iphone would connect sometimes only to be slow and not connect. The wifi signal would keep being scanned and would go out and come back in. The signal strength also qould keep fluctuation even when near the router. My brothers same andriod device was doing the same thing. My brothers Iphone 5 was doing the same thing when using the different networks.  Apple there is a major problem here that needs to be addressed when refering to wifi. Considering most carriers now charge for data it is important that if I have access to all the wifi networks I can connect too. This is a major issue that needs to be resolved and looking at the forums it is not an isolated incident.  Recomendations: People who call in with this issue, need to have phones replaced if not able to patch, Since no patch exists at the moment, it would be prudent to offer people who are having trouble a credit towards their wireless bill by working with cell providers and to have apple issue a version of an RMA number. Until the issue is resolved. I have 17 days to return my phone to verizon and I am going to wait to hear back. My girlfriend is in the market for a new phone and we can't have issues with a wifi connection especially when charges are going to ensue if we go over our data. Plus the unavailability of a network in areas my cell provider is not able to help with is important. We as apple users need immediate attention to this matter and it is not a matter of how the phone scans for networks. It is an issue with connectivity and how it is communicating with certain encryptions with the routers. Fix need asap.  This issue is also not localized to the Iphone 5 as it is happening on the Ipad 4

Why doesn't iPhone 5 US GSM work with Germany's biggest carrier

I bought an iPhone 5 16 GB during my travel to New York in December. The people at the Apple Retail Store at 5th Av assured me that the hardware will work with all major GSM carriers in Europe ... which now turned out not to be correct. Because now - back in Germany - I can not use the phone because it just does not connect with my carriere's Network (Deutsche Telekom). SIM has been cross checked in plenty of other devices (EU Version of iPhone 5 / US iPad Mini / EU iPad Mini) and it works perfect in those devices. Only in the US GSM iPhone 5 none of the tested Telekom Nano SIMs worked. What makes it even more strange is that a german o2 (Telefonica) nano SIM works in the iPhone. O2 ist Number 3 in der german market - Telekom is #1. Neither german Apple Support Team nor Telekom stuff were able to assist or come up with a solution - Has anybody here heard about this issue before? Am I really the first person on earth with this problem?  Thanks!

Replacement iPhone 5 screen pixelated grainy

Has anyone else noticed on their replacement or recently new (Dec. 2012+) iPhone has a different screen than before? I noticed that I can now see a vertical "dot" pattern, especially through blue and green icons and pictures. I also see it clearly in the settings app across the grey/blue "settings" bar, in the mail app's top and bottom grey/blue bars, and in the deep blue of an "on" toggle. This occurs with stock iOS apps and is not related to apps that have not updated for retina compatibility. I made a genius appointment to discuss my replacement iPhone 5 display at a local Apple Store where my display was clearly different than all of the models on display. The specialists in the store were able to see the difference as well and were very helpful. They did everything possible trying to help me, including opening two replacement models but both displays had the same issue. I'm hoping this is a temporary issue and Apple corrects it quickly once it has been officially identified, but if not, we need to let Apple know this is not acceptable. I loved my Retina display and just can't look at it the same way. The whole point of the Retina display is to minimize seeing individual pixels but with this recent screen showing vertical dot patterns in solid colors, it defeats the purpose.

Intermittent lockup when powered iPhone 5

My IP5 intermittently locks up (frozen screen) when the charger cord is plugged in and the battery is charged to 100%.  At least, that's the only time I've noticed it.  As soon as I remove the charger cord, it works normally again.  Anyone else have this problem?  I'm wondering if this is a bug that Apple will have to address?

Iphone 5 hacked-about 30 emails sent out to what looks to be phishing website-TELUS customer

Woke up to find out my iphone had sent out about 30 emails to contacts (not my full contact list - guessing maybe the last 30 contacts that have been either received/sent via email).  The web site isn't one I ever remember accessing (which in iteself is weird).  http://dcrconsultores.com.br/pbolqlx.pho This is a fairly new phone acquired from my provider TELUS sent directly from TELUS during the inital shipment of iphone 5's last year. I am on the latest IOS 6.0.2....model MD295C....... Any suggestions on how to fix the problem Yes I have a window's PC.....but it was powered off last night when the emails went out from my iphone....also when I checked this morning there were no outgoing emails in Outllook....... 

Wifi issues with and without iOS 6.0.2 on iPhone s iPhone 4S

I am having issues connecting to my AirPort Extreme router from both of the iPhones that I have in my household. One of the iPhones is an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.2 and the other is an iPhone 4S running the latest version of iOS 5. Both of these devices have difficulty connecting to the access point in question, and will encounter one of the two scenarios: upon joining the network will get an error stating that the network cannot be joined, or after a successful join the devices will have extremely slow connections (15-30 seconds to get a ping back from the router) to which a point it is highly preferred to switch back to a cellular connection for speed reasons.  There are many other wireless devices in the house that are functioning normally, including two MacBook pros and an Xbox 360 all over wireless, and one desktop over a wired connection.  I've scanned the area wifi and have moved the Airport's channel to one that is not in use. It seems that this issue is isolated to the iPhones in particular.  Given that the two devices are different models, running different firmware and that other wireless devices can connect without issue I am at a loss on how to proceed with my troubleshooting. 

My iphone was stolen however its still saved as one of my devices on icloud but its name has changed. Can apple find it

I left my iphone sitting on the dashboard of a taxi and forgot to lift it. As soon as I got out of the taxi, I remembered so I rang the taxi company to get it for me. I also rang the phone and it was turned off, which is strange as two minutes earlier it was on and it had a 80% battery life so I knew something was strange. Suprise suprise the taxi company never found it. I went on to icloud and put the phone (the device was called jacks iphone) in lost mode and tried to track it but it was offline so I could never find it. Now several weeks down the line I went back on to icloud and this mysterious device TonkhawiPhone7_ was in my list of devices. Its an iphone 4 as well. So could this be my iphone and the person who now has it has changed the name of the device? It doesn't appear to allow me to put it in lost mode for some reason. Can apple help me get my iphone back?  Thanks for reading

My new iPhone 5 plugged in and powered off but I am not getting charging icon on screen. suggestions. Phone new and not charged

I have a new iphone5. I have it poweredoff and plugged into the wall, but I am not getting any charging icon. Any ideas?.. Bill Steed

Bricked iPhone 5 error code-1 My Story

Around 5am this morning I picked up my phone to look at the time and noticed that it said 'searching.....'  where my carrier name should be, normally I get great signal in my home.  I didn't think much of it and went back to sleep.  When I woke up two hours later it still said 'searching' so I toggled airplane mode with no change.  I then powered the phone off with no change, next I did a hard reset by holding the power button and home button till it shut down.  Same result.  'searching.......' forever.  I then plugged my iPhone into my computer and loaded up itunes, it correctly identified my phone then asked me to backup and update it to 6.0.2 firmware.  Thinking that this may clear whatever bug may be affecting the 3g radio I accepted and started the process.  The phone backed up without issue (thank goodness) but then as it was about to complete the firmware update it threw a -1 error back.  Multiple re-attempts at restoring did not work.  The iPhone now just displays the 'connect to itunes'  screen.  A few minutes of searching revealed that it was most likely a hardware issue.  This phone has been babied, kept in a simple, low profile case, never dropped, no moisture whatsoever has touched it.  It really ***** that this would happen out of the blue like this.  Apple is taking care of me though, with no Apple retail shop anywhere close to me, they offered to cross-ship a new phone to me. I don't mind the hold on my credit card.  Should be here just after christmas.

iPhone displaying incorrect email receive date

Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong community, however this is my first post. My iphone 4 (iOS 6.0.1) has recently (over the past three days) started sporadically assigning a xx/xx/00 date to emails rather than xx/xx/12. When I open the email the date is the current date, but the receive date is not. Not all emails display the wrong receive date. My husband's iphone 4 has also started doing the same thing today; I'm not sure if it is specific to 4s or if other iphone models are also experieincing this problem. I also don't know what is causing this, and therefore how to fix it, but I would appreciate any advice or solutions from others who may have had this problem.
