iPhone 5 Lock Button Not Working

The lock button on my iPhone 5 has stopped working... I don't live near an Apple store, and my free 90-day AppleCare deal is up.  I would like to avoid paying money for a one-time incident to use AppleCare, so is there a way for me to send in my iPhone in instead of visiting a store?  Or are there other options at all?  Thanks so much for your help in advance!

My friend is on a class trip to Germany. He has been texting me on his ipod, through wifi, with a texting app called text free. I have an iPhone with unlimited texting. We have not been texting through iMessage, just SMS, but he is sending them from his ipod. Will I be charged gobs of money for "international texting" or is it part of my data plan since he is using wifi? HELP!

This whole problem started when I first got my Iphone 5 around christmas time of last year. And i did the normal activation of my new Iphone and syncing my old iphone 4 with this new phone. I synced everything and it was all good, but i started to get these random text from people in my message log. I soon found out that i was recieving every text that was sent to my sister. And if i replied to someone who was texting my sister it would show up like she texted them, not me on a seperate number. Also when i text my sister she would get the text but immidiatly after i sent her it, i would also get a text from myself saying what i sent her. I will literally get a text message from my own number to myself, (Weird ****). So its like my sisters text messaging is fused with mine. Its only messages though, no images or anything else. In the beginging i didnt care about this becasue she wasnt recieving my text i was only getting hers. But now just today she tells me she is getting my text too. And thats a problem! This problem lasted all the way up to about 2 months ago and then i stopped getting her messages. But i gave one of my friends my old iphone 4 and once they activated it for there own use it started to happen again. They use a seperate plan then i do and there number on the phone is different. Before i gave them the phone i wiped everything off of it. i took off the contacts, messages, everything. They use a different apple account and icloud account now on the phone. So idk why it started up again i need help. Here is some background. My whole family shares the same apple account with everything. We have seperate phones, numbers and data for the most part. But with dealing with Icloud and itunes anything like that, we use the same account. My sister uses a Iphone 4s btw. With my old Iphone 4 i had no probelms with this, everything was normal. But once i switched to the new iphone 5 this problem has occured. Idk what this is about, i havent heard anyone else with this problem, but i need help! btw my other family members on their phones do not have this problem. So i think it has to do something with the icloud but im not sure! This is a serious problem and i need help! Goodluck!

i just factory unlocked the iphone 4 with my provider. i did a full factory reset and set up as a new device. currently it displayed 439 MB "Other" and 13.27 GB free. i understand that a part of the 16gb is used for the ios operations. so that i should have somewhere between 13.6 - 13.8 GB of actual free space. i am wondering what the 439mb of "Other" is and if its something i can ger rid of.

Why no international warranty option for iPhone 5

Why is there not an option available to extend the iPhone warranty to an international warranty? Especially with a phone that you tend to take with you whenever you travel having to go to the country you bought it originally is a pain and sometimes not feasible. In my case : when I travelled from Hong Kong to a business trip in the Netherlands and then on to the US my iPhone 5 got stolen at the airport in Hong Kong. luckily I only had a prepaid SIM for Hong Kong in the iPhone so I went online and ordered a new simlock free  iPhone 5 at the Dutch online Apple store to be delivered in Amsterdam a few days later. So far, so good. I am currently in China and my iPhone 5 sleep button broke down. As I had to be in Hong Kong last week I thought I would stop by the Causeway Bay Apple Store after making a genius bar appointment. They checked the iPhone 5 and confirmed the sleep button was broken and it would be swapped for a new one. However on checking my serial number they told me I had to go back to The Netherlands to get it fixed.... So here is a problem, I am not planning on being there any time soon. Why is it not possible in the global economy we live in to get an international warranty?  I called Apple Care and they suggested I could try in an Apple store in North Carolina where I am due in a few weeks, but they could not guarantee they would swap the phone. Now the end of July  I am due in the UK and from what I read now an iPhone bought in any EU country could be swapped in another EU country. so that would mean I could swap it in London?  Very odd.  Always travel with my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and these do have international warranty.

4S-No sound from speaker no mic no vibration doesn't detect headphones iPhone 4

Hello, I just replaced my 4S's display, and after reassembly the iPhone powered on as normal, but - there is no sound, mic or vibration what so ever. It doesn't detect a headphone jack either. The mute button and volume buttons work just fine, volume control shows up but there is no vibrate or sound at all.  So this basically makes it useless as a phone ... Anyone know what could be causing the issue? I tightened the screws, tried reconnecting the cables and the speakers. Hoping this is not an issue with the audio IC. Definately not software related, tried full DFU restore, tried cleaning the dock connector and jack, the iPhone is NOT stuck in dock connector mode. TL;DR: No sound from any speaker, no vibrate what so ever, no mic, doesn't detect headphone jack. Anyone know what's wrong? Could it be a damaged Audio IC (don't really see how this can happen)? Broken flex cable?

Okay so i had problems with my iPhone earlier. It would power off randomly when I was or wasnt using it. And i also charged it when I had 30% but on the top right corner for the battery icon, where its suppose to show ' charging ' it showed Fully charged. and after it died, I plugged it back in with it saying its charging. The symbol with a low red battery with a charging sign. It stayed on that symbol for more than 12 hours and never turned on to the lock screen. And if i take it out of charge, it completely shuts off.But when i plug it back in , it has the apple symbol from when you turn it back on after you powered it off. It did that symbol repeatedly. Please help. The problem: Won't charge or turn on to lock screen  Is there anyway I can do it besides taking it to Apple? I have an iPhone 4S. My software and iTunes versions are up to date. My computer runs Windows XP (not so up to date, I know). Here's my dilemma: I'm in the middle of a legal battle (details don't really matter). Point is, I need the ENTIRE conversation to use as evidence in court. Phones are not allowed in the courtroom so I'm left with no other option except to figure out how to print them. I have called my service provider to try and get the transcripts. They told me to call the Apple Help Center. I called Apple, they told me to talk to my service provider. The typical run around. I finally spoke with someone who somewhat sounded like they knew what they were doing, but their only suggestion for me was to download an app that would allow me to export the messages off of my phone onto my computer. Unfortunately, he could not suggest any app inparticular (go figure).  Here's my other problem: because I'm in the middle of a legal battle, I'm a little short on funds. Does anyone know of any programs for download that are similar to BackupTrans that I can use for free? OR, there is an app in the AppStore called "SMS Export" made by Fabrizio Farenga for $5.99... Can anyone tell me if this app is worth the 6 bucks to purchase (does it actually work?)? I desparately need this conversation to use in court. Someone please give me some ideas!

vodafone issues iPhone 4S

Hi all,  i will list my problems and see what you all think,,,,, i have a iphone 4s on vodafone running 6.1.3 firmware, for the first 11/12mths i would say this phone was faultless ( taking around 200 calls a day), recently the phone refuses to make calls and send txt messages, it wont even connect to the internet using 3g, it has to have wirelesss connectivity for the browsers to work. i took it to the local vodafone shop and they insisted it was the sim card at fault, even though i did try it in my other phone (nokia E50-2), so i took the replacement sim anyway. checks already done:- i have taken my vodafone contract sim from the iphone and placed it in the nokia, it works fine sending and recieving both calls and txti have taken my vodafone PAYG sim out of the nokia and placed it in the iphone, it refused to work but worked fine in the nokiai have reset the network settings, i have deleted all apps from the iphone and done a full restore, but it still refuses to workit shows full signal strength all the time where i live, as does the nokia, if i try to call it from the nokia it tells me the phone is not available even though they are sat side by side with full signal, if i try to call the nokia it comes back called failed.i have tried to send a txt message to my own phone number only for it to come back failed, yet in the nokia it sends no problem.vodafone refuse to admit it is a problem with there network and it is an iphone issue, the phone is now 13mths old and out of warranty (typical), i requested the iphone be unlocked from vodafone to check other networks, this has now been done so i put a spare O2 sim in the iphone and it sends and recieves both calls and text with no issues, yet vodafone still say it is not a network problem!!!!!!! is anyone else having similar problems to mine??? or is it something wrong with the phone???? i personnaly think when the phone was updated to the 6.1.3 firmware it has a problem with vodafone, plese tell me what you think, i am going crazy with this phone, cant believe its not kissed the wall or other hard surface yet.

Finally upgraded to current iOS and noticed that the phone keypad background color is now white.  I find the visibility/readability so much better in black (aka, the original design).  Does anyone know if it's possible to change this back to black?

(specify "Start" & "Stop" time - under "Options" – to any 30-seconds duration and click OK)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file...(when done iTunes will create a Chime)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------4) to locate the created .m4a file easily, Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Show in Finder" from the pop-up list...(iTunes will automatically point the folder location of the original .mp3 & the newly created .m4a files... keep this window open for later...)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------5) change the .m4a file to .m4r as suggested... (rename to whatever you like but you must change the extension to .m4r)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------6) At this point, the m4r(original) file isn't a "Ringtone" file yet... which we'll need to change now...) Keep this window open to make the transfer manually !!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------9) Once your duplicate is placed inside the "Tones" folder, double-click on that duplicate .m4r(true) file and let iTunes play, it should automatically place that ringtone file into the "Ringtone" sidebar List in the iTunes program... I have been having trouble with my iPhone - sudden decrease in battery life, apps not working, Wifi not working, iCloud not working (don't ask me why, but when I go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and back up, the toggle is off and greyed out, giving me no option to turn it on). I was advised to back the iPhone up on my mac, reset the iPhone to factory settings and then restore it from the Mac.  So, all my apps have come over, but none of my contacts, SMS's, nothing. I can probably live without the SMS's but it will take me a long time to re-enter all my contacts.  However, they are all still in the Mac.  But I can't work out how to get the Mac to send the addresses back to the iPhone.   As previously stated, the iCloud doesn't work, so I can't use that.  I looked through previous entries and the advice was: Open iTunes. Connect the iPhone. Select it under the Devices heading in the iTunes sidebar. Click on the Info tab in the main window. check the Contacts box then sync. However, when I do this it say in contacts "your contacts are being synched with your iPhone over the air, over-the-air sync settings can be changed on the iPhone" But I don't want them synched over the air, because over the air (I assume this is iCloud) isn't working.  How do I set it (either iTunes or the iPhone) so that it synches, via USB cable, with the contacts on my Mac? I am totally, utterly confused and a bit cross as I am now worse off then before I reset the phone and was told that it would just back up from the computer.  And even more annoyed when I know the data I want is all still there (on the Mac in address book), I just can't drag it across.

iphone 5 doesnt accept ID password facetime and imessage not working

Im not sure if its to do with the new update 6.1.4 but my imessage suddenly stopped working. I checked my settings and saw that my email addresses associated with it were deleted. I would do hard resets but it wouldnt solve the problem. Then imessage was only partially working, sending imessages to certain individuals and text messages to the others. When i would try to add my email it would say that my password or ID is incorrect. I was thinking, no this could not be. I signed in and out of Itunes with no problem. I even signed on appleid.com and it worked. I tried it on my ipad which worked. I was scratching my brains. so I had an idea, I proceeded to reset network settings......BIG MISTAKE!!! Now, along with my imessage and facetime problems, I cannot connect to my wifi at home. when I enter the password it says it is incorrect. I have also tried entering the wifi manually but to no avail. I connected my iphone to itunes but it wont back up my data saying an error occured but it doesnt specify the error. Iv also noticed that if i press and hold an app, and it starts shaking, the crosses next to the apps that I hav purchased whether it is free or not does not show the 'x' next to them so I cant manually delete an app. What is going on? Is so frustrating because now I have to rely on my data and its depleting fast. Iv booked an appointment with the Genius bar for next week but I am hoping I can sort this out before hand. My first iphone and I was enjoying it up to now, not happy at all!

Hi Everyone!     I have a brand new iPhone 5 (white if it matters) It has never been dropped, exposed to water or anything. Like I said it is brand new. I have probably only had it for a week or two now. When i lightly press the screen it is like the LED's behind the screen are being squished. (Same situation as listed below [link] except my screen is brand new and has NEVER been replaced.)  Should I take it to Apple or can I fix it at home. Iphone 5 has a slight ticking/rattling noise coming from the inside. I held the buttons down & shook it and the noise still existed, no it's not loose buttons. It's not real loud. whatever it is, is in the top section of the phone.

How much will it cost to repair smashed back of my iPhone 4

Okay, so today I leant over to pick up my ruler which I'd dropped and my iPhone slipped out of my pocket. Ironically, I'd put it in the inside pocket so it wouldn't slip out, and I've had it for 6 months and have been very careful with it until today. Needless to say I am absolutely gutted about this, and am hoping to replace the back of it. Looking online, some people claim that if I took it to an Apple store, they would either replace it for free or I would have to pay £29, however I'm not sure whether Apple have changed their policy about free first time repairs since the release of the iPhone 5/4S. I'm willing to pay because it was my own fault, but I wanted to know how much it would be before waltzing into an Apple store.  One other thing, would I have to tell my Mum? Because she recently told off my younger sister for smashing the screen of her iPod and used me as an example of being careful, and I know she'd be devastated by this too. (Not to mention how much she'd freak out about it!)  I don't want to replace the back myself with cheaper parts from eBay because I know it'll damage my warranty if I do (I'm not sure whether smashing the screen comes under the warranty, I don't think it will.).

I'm using the official Podcast app since its been introduced and even with various updates inc the one a few weeks back the volume level at max is often too low. Other audio and music is not a problem, but if I'm listening to a podcast via the app on a train or in a crowd the background noise makes its barely audible. I am pretty frustrated i bought a Iphone 4 from a friend for $50.00 USD. I'm very unhappy to say i wish i would of spent that $50.00 USD on a Htc or Galaxy i would like to have a disscussion or for apple to see that all apple devices should have speak to text or talk to text ( Microphone on imessage or the default green message app ) so that people can be hands free when they are texting . VNC from iphone to mac without wifi

Hello everyone, I'd like to know if it is possible to VNC from my iphone/ipad to my macbook without wifi? I use real VNC viewer to access my Macbook (which has real VNC Enterprise Server installed) using my iphone/ipad and it works well when I have Internet. However, I'd also like to be able to control my mac from my iphone in the same fashion when I do not have access to WIFI or wired Internet. I have scoured the net for answers and while there are plenty of links for controlling your iDevice from your Mac, there is seemingly nothing out there that shows you how to do the reverse in the absence of Wifi. I have read about SSH tunneling via a tethered USB connection but have not found any comprehensive instructions as to whether such a method would work to control my Macbook with my iPhone/iPad. I was hoping there would be devices such as receivers plugged into the USB port that would allow this sort of interaction when no Internet is available but haven't come across any. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks.

IPhone 5 3 problems.

Hey guys Ive had my IPhone 5 since the day it came out, so now it had started to have its problems, and more than one. Ive got three:      - brightness turns down automatically to the point I cant see the screen and when I go back to settings the brightness bar is still up to to bright and I just have to touch it for it to come back to normal.          - When I call someone or when someone call me, the place where I should hear them talk back does not work, I have to hear them on the speaker.      - When I charge my phone the lightning connector doesnt have a good connection and cuts out of charging looks like its lose.  Has anyone had one of these problems, and how was it fixed? or when you gave it to Apple, how long did it take to be fixed? or did you get a new IPhone? Or feel free just to talk about what you think   Thanks guys!

I received a suspect email on my iPhone 5 yesterday, which contained only a web link. I deleted it without accessing the link but despite this my phone sent out mails to everyone in my contacts this morning. I have had two returned as not delivered as they were picked up by the antivirus but assume all the others have reached their destination. Do I have a virus or has my mail been hacked? iCloud says I have too much storage on my phone to back up even though I only have use 2.5gb of storage iPhone 4S

I only have used 2.5 GB of storage on my phone and I have the 5 GB of free storage apple gives you and it's saying that I don't have enough storage to back up and that I need another 11 GB of storage to back up this phone even though I don't even have over 2GB of storage on my phone?

My iPhone 5 have rattling noise when lighly shaken and some light leaks problem. Can I get free replacement from my carrier if its still under warranty?

I am having the same issue.  This is problematic, I rely on this app to check my stocks.

The visual voicemail on my 4s quit working.  I have taken the phone to my provider (they were baffled), used the apple on line support and troubleshooting.  I have reset teh network setting and no change.  I get voicemails but have to periodically go back to dialing in to check to see if I have any as I dod not get notified.

Can I take my friends iPod to get repaired iPhone 5

Hi all, This is two questions rolled into one thread, really, but here goes. My friend Jacob has an iPhone 5 that seems to have been giving him trouble. The wifi is incredibly weak, the front camera doesn't work and the screen is slightly patchy. The phone is still under warranty, but I just wanted to check beforehand whether a visit to the genius bar would fix this? Secondly, he won't be around for the next two weeks to make that visit himself,  so he's left the iPhone with me. My question is, would try still replace the phone if he isn't there? They don't require ID or anything, do they?  Oh, and he restored the phone before he left, so now it's stuck in the activation screen... Will that be a problem?

Does the iPhone use true aGPS?  That is, a real GPS receiver internal GPS receiver assisted by triangulation with cell tower base stations.  Thx
