AT T iPhone 5 gets stuck on EDGE network

When my AT&T iPhone 5 goes to a low signal zone, or an EDGE zone, such as a friends basement, my girlfriends house, or an elevator, it switches to EDGE, but when I go to a good signal area, it stays on EDGE for a while (at least an hour), or until I shut off the antennas using airplane mode or restarting the phone. Sometimes it also affects Wi-Fi, and when the phone connects to Wi-Fi it gets no data on some apps, until I reset the connection using airplane mode. I want to know once and for all if this is a known hardware or software issue, if I should try to get the phone replaced (which I've had since October), or I should just deal with it as a new phone will not help. I've tried reinstalling iOS, resetting network connections, and DFU restore.

Salve,ho appena ritirato un iphone 4 ricondizionato da un vs centro autorizzato e dopo appena di giorno ho riscontrato un grave problema durante l'utilizzo: durante quasi tutte le telefonate che faccio il mio interlocutore non riesce a sentire nulla (come se il mio microfono fosse impostato su muto), lo stesso problema è stato riscontrato con le cuffie originali apple e con il mio auricolare bluetooth della plantronics.Ho provato a ripristinare il telefono senza successo, dopo pochi minuti il problema si ripresenta. Ho provato ad usare anche altre applicazioni (es skype e registratore vocale) per verificare che non fosse un problema di hardware, infatti il microfono funziona perfettamente senza problemi.anche il controllo vocale funziona benissimo. riscontro questo problema solo effettuando e ricevendo chiamate.il problema è parecchio fastidioso visto che è quasi impossibile effettuare telefonate senza incorrere in spiacevoli interruzioni.avete altri clienti che hanno riscontrato questo problema?come mi devo comportare?

iPhone 4 loses 3G capability. Normal

Over the last 4 months or so, my iPhone4's download rate has progressivly slowed. WiFi is still working fine, but cellular data was noticably lagging with missed texts, slow applications, and generally slow browsing. Since then I have switched carriers twice thinking it was a problem with cellular service provider, but to no avail. This last week I have had no ability to connect to my service provider's data network, evident because that little '3G' icon at the top no longer appears in any part of the city I visit. I removed the protective case around the iPhone thinking it could be an antennae issue, but no, still not working. Paranoid, I even checked to see that cellular 3G is turned on in the device settings; it is, and I felt stupid for even doubting that it wasnt.  Is it normal for a cellular phone's hardware to degrade? Could there be an enviornmental factor i'm not seeing?

No service for IPhone 4 eventhough it under WARRANTY PERIOD

I bought iphone4 on December 2012. It just switched off and while switching it on it went to recovery mode. So I took the iphone to apple authorised service provider (Ample Technologies,Chennai), they done software update and tried but it was still in recover mode. Finally they said that, they will provide replacement since my phone is under warranty. But after examining they said that its physically damaged and they will not provide any service and also asking me to get iphone back. I tried contacting the customer care India No and I talked to the Technical Manager but he simply said "UNFORTUNATELY WE DONT HAVE ANY OPTION TO PROVIDE YOU MAM, SO PLEASE COLLECT YOUR IPHONE FROM THE SERVICE CENTER". But the saddest part is eventhough I've my phone under warraanty I'm not given any service, they are just asking to throw it in the dustbin and wailk away. I just asked them provide hardware service. Now what shall I do????

4S-No sound from speaker no mic no vibration doesn't detect headphones iPhone 4

Hello, I just replaced my 4S's display, and after reassembly the iPhone powered on as normal, but - there is no sound, mic or vibration what so ever. It doesn't detect a headphone jack either. The mute button and volume buttons work just fine, volume control shows up but there is no vibrate or sound at all.  So this basically makes it useless as a phone ... Anyone know what could be causing the issue? I tightened the screws, tried reconnecting the cables and the speakers. Hoping this is not an issue with the audio IC. Definately not software related, tried full DFU restore, tried cleaning the dock connector and jack, the iPhone is NOT stuck in dock connector mode. TL;DR: No sound from any speaker, no vibrate what so ever, no mic, doesn't detect headphone jack. Anyone know what's wrong? Could it be a damaged Audio IC (don't really see how this can happen)? Broken flex cable?

iPhone won't Charge iPhone 5

Okay so i had problems with my iPhone earlier. It would power off randomly when I was or wasnt using it. And i also charged it when I had 30% but on the top right corner for the battery icon, where its suppose to show ' charging ' it showed Fully charged. and after it died, I plugged it back in with it saying its charging. The symbol with a low red battery with a charging sign. It stayed on that symbol for more than 12 hours and never turned on to the lock screen. And if i take it out of charge, it completely shuts off.But when i plug it back in , it has the apple symbol from when you turn it back on after you powered it off. It did that symbol repeatedly. Please help. The problem: Won't charge or turn on to lock screen  Is there anyway I can do it besides taking it to Apple? Thanks (: I don't think I backed up anything, but I maybe did and I have lots of things on my phone. So is there any other solutions that I can use besides restoring it?

iphone 4s internet not working

iphone 4s internet not working. my phone have singnal while using. on the left top corner have the display of "4G" and i can text or phone to someone. but i can't use my internet. it is all fine since this morning. when i tried a web page, it goes slower than before. after 1 hour, the internet totaly can't be used.my wifi part couldn't be used either. but it began at december 2012. and i don't usually use the wifi. so i didn't pay attention to it. wifi part is sometime good sometime bad. mostly after i restar it, the wifi can be used for 1 or 2 muniutes. i was not sure whether or not is the problem of att. but other members of my family plan are all fine at internet.which part of phone would be the problem? especially for the hard ware parts. i think there would be some problems in hardware. i always drop my phone unintentionally.

On May 1, 2013 I received from my husband as a gift, an iPhone 5 16GB White (Model A1429) after his return from a trip to the African continent. I used the Iphone 5 for only 15 days, while the rear camera crashed. In an attempt to solve, restored the software and not solved. Then took the Iphone 5 Apple technical assistance in Recife / PE, called iTown where it was found that it was a hardware problem and Iphone 5 should be replaced. However when checking the model of Iphone 5 assistant coach said the serial number on my Iphone 5 (F1HK3LNGDTWF) was not authorized by Apple for replacement and that I should contact the Apple 0800. I made contact and technical support agent (# 451 886 701), Samir, informed me that the model of my iPhone 5 (A1429) is not warranted in Brazil and should submit to Apple in the country where it was purchased. Tell it had received a gift from my husband and had been acquired in a electronics store in Johannesburg international airport, not having expected to return to the country in the coming years. Requested that the equipment be sent through Apple Brazil, to the place where it was possible to repair or replace the Apple Iphone 5 Brazil defective by a new, but Samir informed me that he could not do anything for me and that very sorry. Well, I understand that Apple is a company present in several countries and that your warranty is worldwide. Still hopeful, I sent an email to Apple Feedback reporting the incident, but so far have not received any feedback. I'm very disappointed with Apple for this embarrassment and injury. The Iphone 5 cost USD 1,100.00 and in less than 15 days the camera stopped working.I await a return to Apple with the solution for the inconvenience caused.Sincerely,

What can I iPhone 4

I am stuck with a problem. I dropped my iPhone 4 (already had a shattered screen on this moment) accidentaly from 10cm (4 inches) on the rug. To my surprise I suddenly saw vertical lines and on a seperate part a color with a gradient which actually changes all the time, cool enough. My question is if I can do anything hardware or software related with this device to repair it without buying a new screen. I tried to restore, put in DFU this device but without results. Problem with IOS software 6.1.3 iPhone 3G

From the day i upgraded my iPhone 4s to IOS 6.1.3 there are few software bugs such as Twitter and few other apps crashing, Personal Hotspot not working, and poor cellular data connectivity. May i know whether this  problem is with the software or hardware part.

Sticky lock button lock button completely failing internal GPS failure display problems on my 4th replacement iPhone 5 and it looks like I'll be needing another one. 5 iPhone s all WITHIN SAME WEEK.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I've gone through 5 iPhone 5's so far and they've ALL had hardware problems. What is happening with Apple quality conrol? I'm going to need a fifth replacement for my iPhone 5 for the same problem that I've had on 2 out of the 4 replacements I've gotten in the past. First iPhone 5 lasted me at least 4 months before the lock button started failing on me and degrading each day. Now I've gone through a new iPhone every day this week and they've all had something wrong with them.

Phone turns off with lots of battery left iPhone 4S

My iPhone 4S has taken to turning off with as much as 30% power left. When I plug it in again and it comes back up, it will indicate the same power percentage. I have made it a habit of draining the battery at least once a month and then fully charging it (probably that happens more than once a month), so I feel like I've been properly maintaining the battery. I got this when the 4S came out, so it's as old as the 4S model is. Oddly, if I'm on the phone this does not happen. It will run down to 1%. Maybe that's coincedence, maybe not. It's quite irritating - isn't this supposed to be the software/hardware that "just works"? - when you're doing something important and this happens. Today two armadillos appeared in our back yard and I was shooting some video of them. I got a low battery warning - I'm not sure if it was the 10% or 20% warning - but then right after clearing it, the phone shut down. I had some good video, but instead of using the remaining power to save the video, the video was just lost. I had never seen armadillos up close like that and was wanting that video to show my son and some other people, but now due to this problem that video is gone. Thanks a lot, Apple!

HI PEOPLE, i have the following problem, i bought the iPhone 5 white 32 gb , 4 monts ago, the problem started this week, my touch screen dont respond somethimes, but everything else works, like the home button, volume keys, etc. the solution is lock and unlock to get it working again, but in question of minutes starts failing, i did a restore 3 times and a DFU restore just in case, im really worried because i live in argentina,i went to North America for the winter,and i cant go back to EE.UU to get a replacement, please help , for what i think its not a hardware problem, because it works really well, when it works,but i dont know.

Hello there! i'm just wondering will my iphone 4s will get fixed? cause ive been to a stores lately and they tried to fix my iphone and it get error and error all over again 1611 and -21 They tried replacing the battery but nothing happens still on error and they said it's a hardware problem, i tried different fixers already like 3 stores here in philippines, but the last they said it's 50/50 and the hardest thing that ever happend to an iphone, i think they replaced the main memory of the iphone and still doesn't work. they said id just sell the phone to them like 500 pesos. can any one help me? suggestion? - i bought the phone on 2nd hand store in philippines at greenhills, i only used it for 1 month. and i notice when i turn it off, and turn it on the apple logo just light up and past and then apple logo again, then some times there was a blue words on the upper part like an error or something, and then the last time i restarted it, it never goes on. just the apple logo blinking.

Camera shutter doesn't open iPhone 5

The shutter will not open on my iphone camera. It works fine if I switch to the front-facing camera, but when I switch back to the rear camera the shutter is closed. The same thing happens in instagram. I have closed the camera app. I have done a reset.  Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or does it sound like a hardware problem? Thanks.

Warranty on iphone 5

Those iphone5 have a year 1 hardware warranty?

I've gone through 4 iPhone 5's already. All hardware issues with lock button current one freezes then gets stuck on flashing Apple logo.

So apparently I have terrible luck with Apple products. I've had to replace my iPhone 5 3 times already. Gone through three phones within the same week. The one I have right now seems to be doing fine hardware wise as the lock button seems to work fine for now. But as I received the new iPhone yesterday hoping all my troubles would be gone the phone shuts itself down after displaying a pattern of grey bars on the screen and then shows the Apple reboot logo for about 5 seconds before it slowly fades out and then tries to reboot again. Is this software related or do I have another hardware issue? I have restored it twice and it has happened both times. On a side note, the compass doesn't appear to work. It gets stuck on zero degrees and doesn't work at all on the Maps app or the Google Maps app. It is pretty cloudy here but usually when it's cloudy it shows some sort of response. This one shows none. Please, I just want a working phone.

an USA iPhone covered for hardware problems in Europe iPhone 5

I was wondering if my hardware problems are covered in Europe.. I bought an iPhone in the USA in november 2012 and now my sleep/wake button is broken. I went to the Apple Store in the Netherlands, Europe, and they told me it isn't able to fix it or for me to get it replaced, because I have an American iPhone. Does anyone know if that's correct, because I seriously doubt it!

No ringing while connecting to number on an iphone 5 ATT but they can hear me and I can not hear them.

I have an iphone 5 with ATT and sometimes (very randomly) when making a call, it does not make a ringing sound (like it is not connecting), but it has connected and the other person can hear me but I can't hear them at all.  When I do try and say "hello" to see if they can hear me all I hear is my own voice echoing back.  Other times the phone conncts and rings immediately and I know then that the call is working. I actually got it to do this while on the phone on my landline with applecare. I did all of the resets with Apple and they determined it was a hardware problem and I received a new phone. It seemed to be ok, but three days after activating it, the same thing happened. There does not seem to be any common factor.  It happens with landlines, cell phones, inside, outside and it does not always do it to the same number twice.  It is a complete crap shoot. I have noticed that is it much more likely to happen if I go through "contacts" or "recents" to make the call. It has also happened a few times when using Siri to call. I never know until I don't hear the ringing sound that the call is messed up.  This is awful when trying to contact a business and you have to keep calling them back.  Anyone else?

iPhone 4S dock port corrosion for second time in one year.

Despite never coming into contact with water (I use an otterbox with the silicone flap to protect the docking port), my iPhone has been rendered unusable once and is currently stuck thinking it's docked.  Apple refused to help me the first time, due to their policy about water damaged hardware, so I went to a licensed repair center to have it replaced (could have done it myself, but they wouldn't just sell me the part). To be clear, my iPhone never (I repeat NEVER) enters the bathroom while the shower is running and not until the moisture has disipated, and I never charge it near an open window.  I do, however, live only a few hundred yards from the ocean.  For obvious reasons, you can see what my suspicion is. This is less of a support issue, and more of a plead for help from anyone that knows who at Apple I can talk to about this, and more importantly that they are made aware of the fact that their docking hardware is clearly sub-par (as no other device I have EVER had while living here has suffered from this issue).

Replacement battery for iPhone 5 unstable phone crashing. Putting old battery in fixes everything. HELP

I got a new battery for my iPhone 5, after I suspected my old one was damaged when I encountered a software bug that caused high power drain, making the entire phone very hot. I installed the battery and the phone booted without problem. I noticed that the phone was hiccuping a bit - not responding to input, swipes, scrolling, etc as quickly as before. I then noticed the phone rebooting randomly. I thought the LCD cable wasn't plugged in all the way, so I messed with that for a couple of hours, but couldn't get the rebooting issue to go away. I then decided to swap my old battery in, and voila, it worked. I did some searching for others with the same problem, I found mainly cases with the 3G and 3GSs and a bit of hardware incompatibility between new batteries and the phone. Seemed the fix that most people did was to keep on buying batteries until they found a stable one. Is this a problem with the iPhone 5's as well? If so, is there a better fix?

Recently the iPhone 4 I have been using gets into a state that the screen becomes unresponsive to interactions. Restarting the device only allows operation for a few minutes until it becomes unresponsive. A factory reset also only allows operation for a few minutes until it locks up. The device randomly "unlocks" itself for use randomly during the day but shortly becomes inopperable once more. Yesterday i detected: When I pinch the top right corner of my iPhone 5, the screen creaks down a bit making a annoying noise. I live in Russia. And my friends made me a present (They bought this iphone in LA Apple Store on Winter Holidays).The problem is that there is no Apple Stores or genius bars in Russia, but only Resellers.How can i solve this problem? Friend of mine had a replacement of MacBook charger via Apple Support, they asked him to come to Russian Authorised Apple reseller and get new charger. But iPhone... Could Apple, for example, call to Authorised Reseller and ask to replace my iphone5 because of hardware issue or repair my device? I have one year limited Warranty from Apple and can't use it... it's a very sad... The set is no more than 2 month old !! Battery Drain issue while recording video Iphone 5

Iphone 5 that I've had for less than a year seems to have horrible battery life. I'm mainly on wifi all day long with very strong signal. Most of my 8-10 hr day is occassionally checking my hotmail or exchange email.  My Time since last charge currently at 43%: usage is 3hrs and 34 minutes, and standby time of 9 hours and 35 minutes.  The strangest issue I'm having is when I record video. I'll usually record 2-3GB worth of video (over 8-10 videos) in a day depending on what I'm uploading to youtube. I'll record a bunch of video, and look at the battery life. It will drop down to 2-3% after recording, and sometimes even shut the phone all the way off. Press the power button and it blinks at you to plug it in. I'll go plug it in, and when it powers back on, it will be anywhere from 20-50% power (1 minute after plugging it in).  Yesterday it was down to 3%, so I powered it off, then back on again, and it jumped back up to 54% I've done a wipe and reset to factory and restore from iCloud and that doesn't seem to have done much.  I've drained the battery all the way dead, and let it recharge fully mulitple times, no help their either. I'm using the factory Iphone charging cable and wall charger.  Has anyone seen this before? Do I have a faulty battery? I've recorded hundreds of videos with my iphone 4 and never had issues with excessive drain while recording, and the same on my wife's 4S..Thanks

Why Apple uses low capacity batteries for iPhone iPhone 5

It doesn't take genuis to conclude that we have a muturity status in performance of most of the iPhone hardware (Camera ability, speed, reciption etc)but when it comes to battery Apple didn't do a great job other than optimizing the chips for lower power consumption(I know it's hard and complicated thing to do but the results are ineffecint.) Looking at other smartphone like Motorola droiod Max with 3000mah battery capacity with standad 20hours of talk time there is clear gap of Apple strategy when it comes to that.  Frankly I ask what's the point of having a brilliant phone with half day life time, should smartphone always be complimented with on the go charger/external battery or worst a basic phone?

My headphone output just went crazy. The phone restarted when I plugged in the headset and when it came back on it started distorting all the music. It also make a noise which stops about 10 seconds after I stop playing the music. I tried restarting the phone and also installed the latest software update. For me it doesnt seem like a hardware-problem. It's more like a bug in the audio-driver.. Anyone know anything about this?

Iphone 4S keeps disconnecting WIFI frequently when in use

    My iphone suddenly began disconnecting frequently from my Access point like every 4 seconds, maybe every minute. it just disconnects randamly,i have had this issue for two days now . I restored my iphone to IOS 6.1.3 and yet the issue is still preserved , so i reset my router and my access point to their default setting and still the WIFI keeps on disconnecting. I even tested my IPhone to connect to my Uncle's wifi access point and still it disconnects from it frequently.My Iphone has never suffered any damage. it has never fallen on the ground and not even scratched.The disconnection here is not that the iphone disconnects from the wifi when i lock the phone but it's worse it disconnects when the phone is in use even if I am downloading something from the app store or streaming a video on youtube and then it will automatically reconnect again which is pretty annoying especially if i am using a VOIP service .i tried everything now and seems nothing helps. Is this a hardware or a software problem ?, i would be glad to hear from other users that i am not the only one affected by it. I live in Egypt, is there Apple Support in here ?, Any suggestions will Greatly help me .

IPhone 5 camera hardware problems

My built in camera is not working properly. At first it showed up with pink purple and all sorts of different pink and purple lines on the screen, it would also go in and out to different types of shapes. And now the shutter won't open and I can not switch from front facing camera to the rear camera. The buttons (auto,options) do not work either. I tried resetting the settings, restarting my phone, nothing has changed... I am thinking it's a hardware problem, and I do have apple care. Has this happened to anyone else? What is the solution to this problem, and how much would I pay? Please help, thanks!

PLEASE HELP iPhone 3G

My iphone 4 powered off by itself while i was using it. I know it didnt go dead, becuause it had 40% battery left, It will not charge, and my lock button is broken. It will not come on at all when i plug in the charger. Can someone please help and tell me if there is anyway i can power it back on myself?

iPhone battery is on 41% after 1 hour and 31 minutes usage, and 1 hour and 29 minutes standby. I've followed all of the battery saving tips, my wifi, Bluetooth, mail, siri, push notifications are off. My brightness is down, it's not a hardware problem as its been tested.

iphone 4 randomly freezes-what hardware to swap

Good Afternoon, ive recently started up my own business fixing mobile phones - mostly cracked screens and chassis replacements. Just recently i thought id got a bargain on ebay regarding an iphone 4. It was described as working correctly, can make / receive calls and send texts etc but randomly locks up. Ive got the phone today, unfortunately its locked to the 3 network so ive got a micro sim on the way so I cant actually proceed further at this point.  Although it did crash once on me when i tried to select language's etc - had to hold the home and power button down until it turned off. Ive read on the forums that this is a common fault, and can occur to any iphone - faulty or otherwise.  And the main concensus seems to be to take it back to the store for a swap. My main question is - seeing how im likely to come across this fault again - is the fault software or hardware related? If its hardware related what circuit board is likely to be the culprit?  If we could identify the problem then im sure I could just order the required part on ebay. The fact that apple havent recalled the iphone and that they will accept these faulty iphone's back and swap for new suggests to me its an easy fix - its just easier for the technicians to go in the store room and get a brand new one. Secondly ive just got another iphone 4 white - bought cheap as its totally dead.  Tried a new battery and still nothing.  Got a new dock / charging connector on the way - is it likely to be this at fault?  Doesnt seem to be any sign of water damage, and it wasnt described as this on the ebay page. When id swapped the new battery over i tried to charge the phone ( to see if id fixed it ) and it got extremely hot - so i disconnected right away and left it to cool off. Whats likely to be the issue with that one? Thanks, and hope someone can help Adam

having connectivity issues with iPhone 5 when it switches from LTE to 3G

Whenever my iPhone 5 is on LTE and then I'm at a place that switches to 3G, it loses all connectivity to the 3G network. It shows the 3G but absolutely no network connection. The only way it starts to work is if I turn on airplane mode then back off airplane mode. I reset all network connection but nothing happened, is this a hardware issue or a software?

I don't now how but suddenly i see in stead of 1 screen 4 horizontal small screens afther tunrning on my I phone 5. When started furter on I see 4 times my screen with Apps. You understand it is a mesh. At the Vodaphone store they say its a hardware problem. The want to collect it and repair. Has anyone experience with this and now how to deal with it. Restart does not help also reset does not help. Thanks Jack
