Have searched thru the posts and have done practically everything I could find and suggusted (inlcuding upgrading, a full reinstall of itunes and a simple reset of iphone (vs a restore which I cannot do as phone doesnt show in devices) . .but still no go . . This is also happening with my wife's iphone 5 so this is not personal to my phone. Please Help!!
So a nasty smash destroyed both Front & Back of my iPhone 4, and since having them replaced the Wifi signal has been really weak. I have seen other posts about screen replacement having to be done by going through the antenna, so something could be missing, or done incorrectly during the screen repair. Will definately be taking it back to the shop and finding out if It was put back together properly. In the meantime I was wondering if it is possible to share my Macbook Pro's Wifi (always full signal in my house) directly to my iPhone either using USB cable or through bluetooth. It's not been too much of a problem but it would be nice to use my iPhone in bedroom using the Macbooks good signal. Note: The replacement front screen on iPhone has a small gap >1mm between the screen and centre metal casing on the left side just above the Silent/Loud Switch, which can be noticed by light leaking through the gap. The metal casing also still has a small dent between the volume down buttons and silent/loud switch, again nothing drastic 1mm maximum
Spyware is very easily accessible and requires nothing from the Apple store, and although I realize some of these posts are several years old-at this point, it is simply misinformation. All one needs is a similar program to the one in the link above and not only can your sms messages be accessed, your calls be intercepted and recorded, but the camera in your phone can be remotely accessed and activated at any given time without your knowledge. As you tap away on your handy little iPhone you love so much, in whatever possibly "compromising" or embarrassing position you may be in at the time, a creeper can be looking you straight in your face or observing your enviornement at their leisure. Imagine the horror in finding out that you were sitting there on the toilet gaming and someone was watching you the whole time or better yet, while you were involved in an intimate interaction while your phone sat charging on a dock on the nightstand next to the bed? How about knowing that every incoming and outgoing communication is recorded and documented for the creep to scroll and read through like a book? This is some scary stuff, and it's been used on me via an encrypted picture message. I've done a full restore of my iPhone and the pc used for backing up via iTunes to ensure that the spyware wasn't then rooted into the pc or the iTunes, and was even told to create an etirely new Apple ID, but aside from this and there being no true scanning software for malware, spyware or viruses for the iPhone-how can I be sure that this encrypted software has truly been eradicated? Is there an antiviral program that I am unware of? I'm not looking for a secure AVG browser, I'm looking for a detect and destroy scanner program. <Link Edited by Host>
HI, Firstly i have an Iphone 4S 16GB. I understand there has been many posts about this but i'm desperate for a direct answer as to why my "other" storage is at 5.20GB. I have gotten ridden of unwanted songs, apps and photos to free up space but yet i still have only 0.9GB free. I also have taken some advice to clear game data like scores etc, emails, messages, bookmarks, blah blah. yet nothing has changed. Even when i restore it fixes it but only for short period of time. Can someone please help me?
Dear Friends, I hope apple is looking into the posts by customers. I was browsing through the forum and found single threads of issues. I think I am facing all in one and look forward for people who are facing similar issues. I have a iphone 4 on AT&T. everything was working great till 6.0 & problems since I upgraded to 6.1. Since then it has been quite unstable. below are some of the issues I am facing... 1. Phone sometimes goes unresponsive or very slow response for some apps [ action took..cleared all apps restarted/rebooted..no use]2. The signal strength has considerably dropped from before and sometimes says no service. Before I had atleast some good signal strength near my home.3. The battery drain issue..sometimes I feel the battery on usage makes the phone go hot. 4. As soon I unplug from the power, the phone drops couple of %'s over 10 min even without usage or very slight usage.5. The worst of all..sometimes the phone access 3g even when there is WIFI..it takes sometime to realize there is wifi..but all the time I think is using 3G to start off or completely on 3g all the times. I restarted the phone couple of times but no luck. I never had this problem before 6.1. If any one have solutions or geniuses on solving at the least the priority one's let me know. Will be of great help. thanks! -Sri
Facebook posts from my iphone doesnt show via iOS
Since the IOS 6.1 update on my iPhone 5 I've noticed my battery has been severely degraded. I never make it through the day now without it dying - used to be at 35-45% every night when I went to bed. Just now it was at 40% (12pm), unplugged it from the charger at 6:30am and it has been locked and asleep since. How does it drain 60% doing nothing! And it's Sunday, on a regualr workday it would be dead by now. Unacceptable. I've read other posts and have tried several fixes: -Deleted all email accounts including Exchange account and iCloud-Turned off all location services-Updated all APPS and deleted ones I was not using-Deleted Find Friends APP as another post suggested this would help-Re-booted phone after turning it off for over 1 minute-Added back Exchange, Gmail and iCloud email accounts Then I downloaded the Xcode app onto my MacBook Pro and discovered the following error is happening as a loop when my phone is locked and should be sleeping: WiFi unquiescing requested by "locationd" Any ideas what this is? This is COMPLETELY ridiculous. I have been a LONG time Apple supporter and it's hard when things like this happen to defend the greatness of Apple products to non-users-seriously....I shouldn't have to spend hours researching a fix for a problem that has clearly affected sever thousand if not hundreds of thousands of people since the upgrade, ALL complaining about the same thing. Common' Apple-you're better than this!! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Hi all, I've read most of the posts regarding the 0xE000012 error solutions, there seems to be only 2 solutions:1) delete the lockdown folder2) copy and paste in a previous lockdown folder from a computer that synced with your iphone once already Solution 1 doesn't work, and solution 2 isn't an option. I've only synced my phone to my desktop pc, last month the harddrive containing the drive with itunes installed on it died, I got a new harddrive, and retreiving an earlier lockdown file isn't possible. I'd really appreciate some help regarding this problem, this is very frustrating. I'm on win7, 64bit, latest itunes version, version 5.1.1 iphone 4s.
I have an iphone 4 which I tried updating the os, but when it did over wifi connection it went into a mode where the iTunes logo appears with the cable. I tried connecting it to my mac pro and updating it but I get an error message saying that it cannot be done. I read online in some blog posts that this is happening a lot... what can I do? I tried to get help but apple's page asks me to imput the serial number, which I cannot get since I cannot get into my iphone. thank you Ricardo
I know this is lame but I still wanted to know if this is by design or am I missing something. I know posting from my iPhone 5 from a browser should say via mobile but when I use the Facebook app, it says via mobile then too. But when I post something through the share widget, it says via ios. I want to know as to why does it say via mobile when I post through my FB app?
On the IPhone 5 I've turned on the Voice Over setting, so my nephew who has CP and is physically challenged can hear the posts in fb and texts. The problem he's having is with doing the double tap fast enough and using three fingers to scroll. He doesn't have the fine motor dexterity to make it work and he is getting very frustrated. He was so excited to finally hear the texts instead of someone reading them to him. I tried to set the physical motor setting, but it didn't work for fb. Any suggestions or experience with this issue you would kindly share would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
I have found other posts but they have not answered my query. How do I update from version 4.3.5? I wld like iO5 version, and then update to iO6, but I am not overly tech savy, & suggestions to reset etc do not make much sense to me without further instructions! I am a gr8 'map reader' ;) I an follow directions :) Any assistance wld b fab :)
I just leased a 2013 Ford Edge with MyFord Touch. I have been able to synchronize my contacts and connect my phone to the system via bluetooth, but the messaging feature will not work. Even when the vehicle says that it has sent a text message, it does not, and I do not receive any text messages via MyFord Touch. I have read some posts on the web about ios 6 to include a feature that allows bluetooth messaging, but despite what those posts say, I cannot get this to work. I have also seen posts wherein people talk about going into the bluetooth settings for the MyFord Touch device and turning on "show notifications." I do not even have that option when I go into the properties section on my phone. If someone could help me out here, I'd be most appreciative. Andrew
I'm having a few problems with the sound of my iphone 4s. I sometimes receive a tone when a text message, email/alert comes through but not all the time. My ringtone also doesnt work all the time. I rang my mobile off work phone and it one rings then automatically goes to voicemail. My phone shows a missed call but it never actually made a noise. Have read quite a few posts on similar issues but mine seems to play my music through my phone fine (at the moment anyway). I'm concerned incase it affects my alarm as it's my clock for work. Through my headphones I can hear when a message comes through and also it rings. Any ideas on what it could be/how to fix it? Thanks x
Well, apparently Apple doesn't want us to talk about this -- They locked the previous forum I had created after 217 posts and 16k views? I'll assume there is some other Apple Forums rule that I don't know about that would cause them to do that instead of trying to stifle the reporting of this problem? It was clearly generating many posts that show a correlation between IOS6.0.2 and battery issues. To summarize... I was having significant WiFi issues on all my apple products (several Iphone 4's and and Ipad2) with 6.0.1 - all the same issues that have been reported on these forums thousands of times. I was excited to see 6.0.2, hoping it would correct the wifi issues for my iPhone5, at least. Unfortunately, not only did it NOT correct my wifi issues, but now my battery is draining about 5x compared to before. I can barely get through a day of batterly life with minimal usage whereas before 6.0.2 I was easily able to go 2+ days. An apple representative called me today (actually he tried very hard to call me for several days.) I was appreciative of the reachout (saw my other post) and was hopeful they would be willing to help me. The guys was very nice, but it truly felt like he was reading a script and was more interested in getting information from me. The only advice he ad for me was to back up my phone and then reset it to factory settings (like new) without using any of my previous apps, mail, etc. He wanted me to do this "for a day or two" to test it and see if the problem persists. Then, if the problem is gone, we can work together to restore apps/settings one-by-one until we find why the problem is there. In other words, they have no idea what is causing this problem, and they want to use my time to help them figure it out. Ironically, I was able to watch my battery indicator drop several percentage points while I was on the phone with him for about 20 minutes. When he asked if I would do the restore and/or load profile software on my iphone to track my usage, I said no. I shared with him I'm simply out of time and energy -- I have logged over 40 hours trying to debug these wifi issues (I'm somewhat tech savvy and figured I could just plow my way through to a solution with my router/security settings.) When I realized that these issues are all IOS driven, and now the battery issues, I find I've had enough. Maybe I'll go return this Iphone5 and ask for a replacement. However, I'm also seeing other posts saying that did not solve their problems. We are talking about wifi and battery life. This is not new technology. If IOS 6.1 doesn't correct these issues, it's probably time to buy an Android. Please keep posting things directly relevant to BATTERY issues with iPhone5 so that this thread can stay on task and bring to light the correlation between 6.0.2 and the battery. Maybe Apple will care about their loyal customers, acknowledge the issue, and let us know how much longer we should wait for 6.1 to fix the issue before it's too late and they start losing their fan base. No information from Apple is only exasperating the problem.
Beware IOS 6.0.2!! I loaded IOS 6.0.2 yesterday. Unfortunately it only partially fixed my wifi issues (I already have several posts about my wifi issues). But, to my complete and utter frustration, it introduced a NEW ISSUE I was not having before -- it is absolutely draining my battery. I can usually get through a day with about 75% of my battery power remaining. Today I've gone through 90% and I've done nothing special with it. Come on, Apple! I know you guys have to be reading these posts. You are driving your loyal fan base away. I'm ready to get my money back and switch to Android. The time (hours-and-hours spent trying to debug my problems) and money do not seem worth it any more.
All - I'm having the same issue with Gmail that seemed to have cropped up in August of this year (judging by other posts). When trying to access my Gmail account via the Mail app on my iPhone 5 and iPad 2, I get the error message: "The IMAP server 'imap.gmail.com' is not respondin. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct inormation in the 'Incoming Mail Server' field." I've tried all the workarounds I can find: delete account and re-add account, delete account/reboot/re-add account, delete account and re-add account as "other" IMAP account... Nothing seems to be working!! Any advice?? Thanks in advance! N
Hey guys I'm new to forums so sorry of this has been asked befor but I can't find it anywhere.Basically I had a little trouble before hand but since ios6 my wifi and 3G have turned to crap on my iPhone 4S.It now and again can't find my router or work router but more issues than that here goes. Can be connected to router but have no Internet (speed tests pickup nothing) 3G breaks on and off even when in a hot zone for 3G Wifi even when connected has not got a stable connection and fluctuates a lot eg: on a 900KB/s goes between 10KB/s and 400KB/s randomly and usually the lower end of that scale, happens on 3G aswell but that's understandable Wifi is solid but sometimes breaks like 3G and causes a game or download to stop or crash. Now I've tried all things I have found in other posts, resetting network, full backup restore, hard reset, forgetting network ect but none work the or thing I have tried that worked was turning off mobile data whilst on wifi to stop it from the first issue in list where it is connected but not having Internet but I shouldn't have to do that! Unfortunately my warranty just ran out so failing a fix have I got a legal leg to stand on to get a replacement since it was apple that ****** this up? Keep checking for a update/fix to but don't know whereI would find that. Btw my phone isn't jail broken and never has been and I don't intend to either rant over Thanks
Similar to another question on here, I too have an iphone 5 that I've noticed makes a tiny click noise on the home button when slightly pressed. I'm not talking about the full click. I think it's just because its a physical, separate button that has some normal movement. The other posts I've read said it was normal. Regardless, the button functions and that should matter most. But I honestly only hear it in very quiet places. It doesn't always happen, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had the same "issue." The apple tech said it was normal but I just wanted other opinions. Im probably freaking out over nothing. Thanks for any helpful responses.
My iPhone 5 is 3 weeks old and the volume down button suddenly decided to stop working over night. The volume up button works perfectly, other people are experiencing this problem as I've read on other posts, I'm now wondering what people think I should do. Thanks!
I recently purchased this iPhone 5 OS 6.0.1 and noticed that my Exchange email account does not work (can't send or receive emails). When setting up the account everything validates. I am IT at my company and I have read previous posts about "temporary fixes"; which none work. I had my iPhone 4 OS 6.0.1 and my Exchange email worked fine until I got the iPhone 5. It seems to be Verizon specific issue because my boss has an iPhone 5 with AT&T and I was able to setup his Exchange email perfectly fine when we received it 3 weeks ago. Please advise ASAP! I need Exchange to work on iPhone 5. Sincerely,1st Time Disappointed iPhone User
I got my first ever iPhone on 9/21/12. Immediately, when I opened the package, I noticed a scratch in the aluminum side. I read a lot of posts on this forum about scratches, but I decided I would let it go since my scratch wasn't that big. Two days later, I realized that the battery life was terrible and only lasts me about a day and a half before I have to recharge again. I also noticed that whenever I had to type in my password for the App Store to buy an app, the screen would flicker on the second row of keys on the keyboard when I switched to the numbers (9/23). That problem seems to have disappeared for now ever since I updated the software. The voicemail doesn't seem to work unless I turn the cellular data off (I think that's just because I don't know how it works) and I receive voicemails LATE. Lately, this month, I have noticed that my iPhone 5 screen freezes midway whenever I try to swipe to the next pages. It also freezes every half second when I am trying to type anything. The "send" button also doesn't respond to me when I press it. The home screen button is the only thing that I can press to unfreeze everything, but it's getting really frustrating to do that every other second. Since two days ago, whenever I am repeatedly trying to press an app or swipe, random apps start to open up even though my finger is no where near it. Lately, it has also been unresponsive to any touch (like sliding to unlock), but I wonder if it's because my hands are too cold... Just a few minutes ago, my iPhone was acting possessed and started opening up a text conversation and switching to another text BY ITSELF. I wasn't even touching it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What can I do? Is it too late to bring it to the Apple Store to get a new one? It's been two months since I opened it and I have never dropped it and I kept the original screen protectors on it for a month until my actual screen protectors arrived.
I have the original iPhone 3G with up-to-date ios (for a 3G). For the past couple of months, I am not able to update my apps. When I try, the process only goes so far before the screen goes black. It is not out of battery juice but I have to connect it to the power cord to get it to turn back on. I tried restoring it: First as a "new phone" and then to my previous "restored" session. I've turned on the 3G and wi-fi. Still does not work when I try to update the apps. Everything else works fine. I have read other posts about not being able to update apps but there didn't seem to be a solution. Has this improved? Thanks for any help.Shelley
I recently upgraded to iPhone 5 but could not syn with iTunes. I also realsied it was not charging.Took it to Apple Store in Chermside Brisbane, and they said cable was faulty. gave me a replacement.I managed to syn with iTunes, but the next day it was not charging again.I am not impressed - very inconvenient and I cannot even transfger the Sim card to my old phone to get by till this is sorted.I noticed there are a lot of posts about people having same problems - has Apple got a solution ? What do I do now? Get my money back and buy a Galaxy?
hi, i last synced my iphone 4 (iOS 4.1) sometime in may after which my laptop got fried thru a power surge. thankfully, my hard drive was not affected. i have now recently gotten a new laptop and wanted to transfer my itunes apps to it. i read posts about moving the old itunes library to a new pc and have already gone thru the procedure. my concern now is the text messages that i have in my phone. these are majorly bank and credit card transaction messages which i want to keep a record of. my question is.... when i plug in my phone to the new laptop the first time, will itunes on my new laptop erase all the text messages that i have received after may (when i performed the last sync). everything on my phone is working fine and i dont wish to perform a restore or upgrade to iOS 6 at this time. please advise. Amer.
I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5. I have a Motorola HX550 Bluetooth Headset which worked flawlessly with the iPhone 4s. However, since upgrading to the iPhone 5, I frequently lose audio when in the middle of a call. I am not certain whether it is a full disconnect or just an audio loss. The person on the other end reports still being able to hear me, however, I suppose they could hear me speaking over another source even if bluetooth disconnected. The loss of audio is always preceded by a quick shrill noise, so I can easily tell when it happens. All I have to do to fix the problem is to select Audio Source on the call screen, temporarily switch audio back to the iPhone, and then switch back to the headset, and then it starts working again. Is is important to note that I am not the only one experiencing this issue: This is a link to someone using the Motorola H19txt headset experiencing the same issuehttps://forums.motorola.com/posts/94ac15ad7c If you go to the Plantronics website and look at the "Ratings and Reviews" on the Voyager Legend you will see the same issue reported: http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/voyager-legend (next paragraph is taken from the review since there is no direct link to the review. Really nice Headset unless you own an Iphone 5. I own several Plantronics headsets and have always loved the quality/ performance. This headset seems not to be compatible with the new Iphone 5. In the middle of a conversation it will lose all incoming audio. This leaves you trying to switch audio sources really fast in order not to lose your phone call. Ive tried 3 legend headsets and they all do the same thing. Hopefully this gets fixed soon because the headset is really nice Since this issue appears to affect multiple headsets from multiple vendors, I think it is fair to conclude that it is an issue with the iPhone5 bluetooth itself. I am posting this as a new discussion as I don't see any other posts specific to this iPhone 5 Bluetooth issue. I would have reported this as a problem to Apple, but don't seem to be able to find a way to do this on the web. Hopefully they are already aware, but if not, maybe they will see i here. If anyone else has experienced this issue, or has recommendations on how to prevent this from happening, I would appreciate your feedback / additions to this post.

I originally had battery issues and thought I had fixed it. I can get around 7-8 hours usage BUT with that only a few hours standby. Also it's not always consistent. I usually pull 7-8 hours but yesterday I was down to 67% with only an hour and a half usage. Where usually ill have around 3:10 hours by then. Also people have claimed to get 5 hours at 62%. I want that sort of usage! I was given this iPhone 5 as a gift and it is my first iPhone. So it SHOULD be setup as a new iPhone but I was not actually there when it was setup so I'm not 100% sure. So even though it is likely to have been setup as new, I am tempted I restore and do as stated in previous posts. Should I? I want to get 5 hour usage ad only be 62%!!! Here is one discussion where people have claimed to get such usage as I stated they were getting: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20167797#20167797 Others have stated similar usage as well. I want that. Thanks! Eli
I have the iPhone 4S, 16 gb. Shortly after I bought it about a year ago, the Other category ballooned up to 8 gb. There were dozens of proposed methods to get the Other category down to normal size but nothing worked so I completely reset my phone. The other category stayed at normal size for several months and then for no reason at all jumped to 4gb. Now it's at 6 gb. I am really disappointed that Apple has not corrected this problem despite endless posts from people like me explaining the problem. We shouldn't have to flatten our phones every few months and start over. If anyone has a method that works I'm all ears.
Recently I read some article or posts either in the forum or out this forum. basically, the lost iphones are turned off and later on they would sync the itune to swipe off the phone as new. Just from the processes of restoring the phone as new. I am kinda inspire that Apple allows people to set passcodes to turn on the phones, why doesn't Apple allows the iphone users to set passcodes to turn the phones off, or even passcodes to connect to itune and sync the phone as new?
After trying everything that Apple posts about the "yellow tinted" screen I took my iPhone 5 back to the Apple Store. The first white boxed (refurbished) iPhone 5 they tried to give me also had the yellow tint to it. The Genius went to far as to compare my old and "new" phone to the stores demo phones and he agreed that the demo phones had a nice crisp white screen and my phones did not. The Genius went and grabbed a second refurb and it was less yellow....but yellow non the less. I was out of time and I had to leave...so I took that phone. This is disappointing to have three iPhone 5's all with the yellow tinted screen. Now my only option is to just return the "new" iPhone 5 (if I can) and go back to my 4S. The guy in the store was helpful, but woudl not give me a new phone and kept giving me refurbs with the same problem. Sure with millsions of iPhone 5's sold there are bound to be problems......but make it right for those that have already purchased. Give me what I saw at the launch and what I see on teh Apple displays - A CRISP WHITE SCREEN without a yellow tint.
My battery life doesn't seem to be as bad as other posts I've read. But I upgraded from a 3GS and I don't really see any battery life change. The issue I have is I feel like my phone is just making up percentages. In full ON usage it seems to take about an hour for it to drop from 100% to 99%. Sounds great but then it drops rapidly later. I think it just skips the 60's. Same way with charging. It appears to charge rapidly to 99% then about an hour to make that last jump to 100%. Because I'm always trying to give it a full charge I don't want to unplug it early but I just don't have any idea of the actual time it's going to take to charge. It was at 1 % the other night and took about 30 minutes to finally die. Does anyone else feel like their battery is just making up percentage numbers?
Hello, I Upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS6 pretty much from the moment it was released, at the beginning everything was working perfectly, until just a week ago i started experiencing ALL the issues that have been reprted so far... (As i read in other posts and around the web) first, i noticed my battery started draining extremely fast... 4 hours and my phone is dead and without doing anything with it... Also noticed phone is always warmer than it used to be... As its very busy doing something... THen, i started having problems with charging... It would not recognize at random times that my charger was plugged... Tried different things, cycling the power, hard reser ( holding power and home buttons together for 10 seconds) it wouldnt work at first, but after i did a hard reset and left the phone off for a minute or so, it worked again and i was able to charge... The problem that then arose was when the phone restarted i lost all my contacts and lost my email and calendars configurations! THen after awhile and after creating again my email accounts my contacts reappeared... Yesterday... suddenly all the sounds for my messages, facebook, email notifications stopped working... Again after several resets they came back... TOday... I just found out that siri wont recognize i have any app when i tell it to open them... IM still a great apple fan and i know and hope this will be addressed at some point... I hope its rather sooner than later... I would at least give me some comfort to know that other people are experienci g this as well and im not the only one with an isolated problem. Then i would know that it is definitely an IOS6 issue. Any comments?? THanks.
I've read some of the other posts but still no dice. I have a 4S and my friend has an iphone 5. We both have always been able to track each other in Find My Friends. Recently I tried to use the Notify Me button for when they leave or arrive at a location and I've never got an alert. the Notify Me button let me select it, I could enter in the criteria but never received an alert. I've signed out and back in, made sure there isn't an update for it (Version 2.0 (2A77), etc. but no dice. I've seen notes about needing Passcode or whatnot to be on, but we already had a passcode. I am not in Do Not Disturb mode and Notifications are on for Find Friends. Anyone have any other suggestions?
I have a syncing issue with my iPhone 4S 64 GB (Sprint network). I am trying to have all albums by any artist appear under the "Artists" tab in the Music app on my iPhone. For example I'm trying to sync all of my Led Zeppelin albums to my iPhone. I have many albums by Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin 1-4, Physical Graffiti Discs 1 and 2, BBC Sessions Discs 1 and 2, Houses of the Holy, In Through The Out Door and one song (Bonzo's Montreux) on the Coda album; 91 songs in all. The problem is is that all albums and 91 songs appear when I tap "Albums" or "Songs" in the Music app. However, when I tap "Artists" I observe that BBC Sessions Disc 1 and Physical Graffiti Disc 1 are both missing. In iTunes I've tried right-clicking on all 14 songs from the BBC Sessions Disc 1 or all 6 songs on Physical Graffiti Disc 1 album and I clicked "No" on the field that says "Part of a compilation" under the Multiple Item Information --> Options menu. After resyncing with my iPhone 4S neither album was copied into the "Artist" tab. It would be great to have all albums by a specific artist appear under the "Artists" tab in the Music app because this is the easiest way to find all of the artist's albums. I can't figure out why iTunes groups some songs and albums under "Compilations". By doing this certain albums are hidden from the "Artists" tab and placed in the "Compilation" tab. Is there an easy way to fix this problem? From reading others' posts it seems like this is a common iTunes/iPhone problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Carl Cygan
Last week I updated my iPhone 4S (Verizon) to iOS 6. I was thoroughly pleased with the Facebook integration, especially the fact that I could pull down the notification window and post to Twitter and Facebook. Then this morning that all stopped...and the Facebook problems started. When I try to post to Facebook using that drop down menu in notification area I get an error message saying that the post couldn't be completed because the connection to Facebook failed. When I tried to post directly from the Facebook app, the app would crash as soon as I hit post. When I re-open the app, the post is there (sometimes it even posts twice) but without fail the app crashes as soon as I hit send/post. I don't know if this is a Facebook issue or an Apple issue...it's probably both. What I do know is that it's annoying...even more so that no one seems to have an answer. I've tried resetting (hard and soft), deleting apps, reinstalling...nothing works. I don't know why its saying that the connection to Facebook failed. When I post to Facebook using other integrated methods (photos, links) there's no problem with connecting then. It is only when I try to do it from the pull down menu and it JUSt started today. I've been using this feature constantly since I upgraded to iOS 6. Has anyone else had this problem? I can use the Twitter integration just fine, no issues.
I have seen some similar posts on this. It seems since the upgrade, i noticed that each time i 'wake up' my phone, I have to manually reconnect with the wifi. I am sitting in a location where I know I have a excellent Wi-fi connection. I have tried to 'reset lease' on the wifi connection and also completing remove it and start over per other posts. It is frustrating because I am worried that I will billed more for more data usage. Any suggestions? Is apple working on this??
Hi Guys, It's now been ONE HOUR since I installed a T-Mobile SIM card into a brand new, out of the box iPhone 5, running on the factory installed iOS 6.0. Issues within the FIRST HOUR: 01. Several unwanted shutdowns, despite having 30% juice. 02. Several unwanted restarts. Being the woman that she is, she's randomly turning herself off and on ;o). 03. SIM card could be found when it was first installed one hour ago. Then the SIM card couldn't be found. Several unwanted restarts still didn't find the SIM card. 04. Even with 30% juice, she kept turning herself off, and then back on, even when I wasn't touching her. 05. Phone getting hot, even when I was doing NOTHING on her. Unlike some of the other posts in Apple's discussion forums, this is definitely NOT related to Maps OR the App store. All I was doing was rearranging the icons on the home page, and going through the Settings. 06. Power dropped from 32% to 30% in TWO MINUTES, with NO apps running. 07. During one of the many unwanted restarts during the first hour of use, on the Apple logo startup, a single line of coding lettering could be seen BEHIND the screen, at the very bottom of the screen. Such coding is clearly not supposed to be seen by the user. I've never seen such coding on my iPhone 3GS. 08. Setting to show battery percentage at the top of the screen not being saved between unwanted restarts. 09. Flickering screen. Intermittent issue. Unlike other posts in Apple's discussion forums, this is definitely NOT related to Maps OR the App store. 10. Sometimes during the intermittent flickering screen issue, a faint green 4mm stripe down the entire left side of the screen. 11. During one unwanted restart, vertical light grey and dark grey HARD stripes down the whole screen, each about 4mm wide. 12. Setting to use Siri not being saved between unwanted restarts. 13. After yet another unwanted restart, going to Settings to turn Siri back on. Clicking the Siri Settings button does not give me options, but instead, quits Settings, and goes straight back to the home page. 14. Recording video on my iPhone 3GS, to evidence problem 13. Clicking the Settings button on the iPhone 5 did not take me to the Settings. Instead, the screen colours all faded increasingly dark, until turning to complete black within five seconds. Ten attempted restarts have refused to get beyond the black screen. This phone is ONE HOUR OLD, and after issues 01 to 13 raised their ugly heads, issue 14 has now killed the phone completely. Since issue 14 occurred, I left her to cool down for 45 minutes. She's now cold, but she's still a dead brick, refusing to restart. Very glad to have recorded issues 03, 06, 07, 08, and 14 on my iPhone 3GS, so that I can take the evidence to my local Apple store tomorrow, and show it to them. With so many varied, serious problems being reported by iPhone 5 users all over the world, it suggests a quality control issue at FoxConn. Perhaps FoxConn's staff deliberately performed countless bad assemblies, to draw the world's attention to their working conditions. I would suggest that Apple Cupertino contacts me, so that I can send them photographic and video evidence of at least some of these hardware issues. If you're running iOS 5.1.1 on a 3GS, 4, or 4S, I would advise you to stay exactly where you are, until Apple Cupertino solves these numerous problems with the iPhone 5 and/or iOS 6.0. Ok so I was reading some posts that says that the iPhone 5 white leaks light on the right had side by the power button so I went to a dark room to see if mine did this to and low and behold it does, I'm so very disappointed and ****** off, I'm afraid to even go get the swapped out because the swapped phone could have the same issue.
i just received my first call on my iPhone 5 and noticed the same thing. The volume when just speaking on the phone was terrible. On speaker it sounded more like what I was used to with my iPhone 4. Does anyone have instructions on how to fix this? i read the posts above, but no luck so far ... uhg. otherwise no complaints ... but the volume for incoming calls is important ... waaa.
Hi I have read through several posts so far but am still having trouble with the whole start an imessage on my iphone and pick it up on my mac later. I tried sending a message from my mac to a friend and that sent message appeared on my iPhone, however any messages I make on my iPhone do not appear on my mac. On my mac I have my Apple ID as the active account (my email address) On my iPhone Settings>Messages>Receive at 2 addresses There is my phone number listed and my email address. My Apple ID is the same as my macs and Caller ID I have ticked my email address not my phone number. I found somewhere it was suggested turning off the account on the mac repeating this on the iphone and performing a soft reset and then turning iMessage back on on both devices but this has not worked. I have not had any messages whatsoever appear on my mac since installing mountain lion. Am i just missing something simple?
I bought my iPhone 4 with a subscription for two years. T-Mobile The Netherlands was the provider. What does that mean for warranty? I want to know, because my iPhone had a few crashes with even Panic.Plists in the Diagnostics Log file (CRC ERR). That probably means the hardware is broken and needs to be replaced. That could result in a new iPhone or a refurbished one. It's only 11 months old. I handed my iPhone over to some people in a T-Mobile Store in The Netherlands for repair. They daid they would send it to a certified repair shop. I'm waiting for an update of the status of the repair or swap. Nothing heard yet. Some people told me yesterday that Apple would give me a new one as soon as they see that there are kernel panics in the iPhone. It's beyond repair and they would swap it for another one ... My question: is it possible / sensible to directly contact Apple when you are dealing with an iPhone that has Panic.Plist errors, even when you bought it from providers like T-Mobile?? How does the warranty work? Is it different in the US? I've read several posts about iPhone owners with similar hardware problems directly contacting Apple ... Shouldn't they contact Verizon or AT&T first? Please, enlighten me ! Theo.
So for 2 months I have not been able to update any of my apps due to the error code "cannot connect to itunes store. I can download new apps, buy music, itunes works fine but I cannot update anything. I have tried resetting, logging in and out of id, turning wifi on and off. Pretty much everything that a not so technical person can do. I have read numerous posts about this on going issue that seems a lot of people are having but no solution yet. Can someone please help me? Many thanks for any information offered up.
I found my phone face down in a wet gutter last night. Not submerged. But it was definitely in water for 90 minutes. I immediately put it deep inside a bag of uncooked rice. I'm on my way to a shop to buy silica gel. Do I need to put the gel in something? If so, what? Can I just put the iPhone into the tub of gel? I've read the posts. I'm probably about to become an owner of a new iPhone. iPhooey. My ibad.
I've seen numerous posts with the same problem--speakers aren't working; can only get audio through the headphones. I've tried all of the suggested fixes: insert and remove headphones numerous times, soft reset, hard reset, and finally I restored my phone to factory settings. None of it worked. I still cannot hear audio unless using the headphones. Are there any other possible solutions short of buying a new phone?
Headphone jack only right channel. Has been a problem since new, is there a recall or repair notice? This is defiantly hardware as sometimes if the jack is just right both channels work. I see numerous posts about this issue.
iPhone 4S displays 'No Service' or 'No SIM Card Installed' with iOS 5.1.1 (9B206). I have just started getting theihs issue the last couple of days where I am having the turn my phone off and on about 4 to 5 times a day. I have looked on the available posts and seen that this is a known issue on iOS 5.0.0 but was fixed for iOS 5.0.1. I have got iOS 5.1.1 (9B206). Is anyone else having this issue or knows how to fix?
Hi, I've seen two posts from over a year ago about this subject, but there have been no resolutions posted. I have an iphone 4 and all of a sudden the screen froze and I could not slide it open. The phone itself is still working (I've gotten text messages, spotify was on, and the buttons work), but the touch screen does not respond to anything. Additionally, the top right corner (front facing) is hot, I mean really hot (it's the corner with the camera lens) it almost burns my finger. Right before this happened, I was going for a jog, listening to Spotify and the phone was probably a little overheated since it's in my pocket while I'm jogging and it's 80 degrees outside, but I've done this before and this hasn't happened. At one point it let me slide it open, but then the screen did that thing when you delete apps and the icons jiggle and have those "X's" in the corner, but then it wouldn't respond and so I shut it off again. I have already "re-booted" twice by pressing both buttons and letting it reboot with the white apple sign, this has not worked. Please respond if you know anything to do as I am no longer under warranty, I am an unemployed recent grad and cannot afford to get this fixed! Thank you soooo much!
Hi guys. I've seen loads of posts on transfering files to imac, iphoto etc. Buy what about going the opposite way. Here is my situation, I transfered a short 18 and 16 second video made with the Iphone 4s. I normally email them back later if i want to edit etc with some apps i have on my phone to send them to friends and family. Problem is my e-mail clients are limited to the file size. I know there is Photosync for the Iphone but it isnt free and its crazy there isnt a feature to tranfer it back. These vidoes need to be sent to the camera roll, not the Video section through itunes. I cant load the video into the video apps I have. Any ideas or is it Photosync or nothing?
Facebook app for iPhone won't let me update my status. Tried removing and re installing but didn't help. Can comment on others posts, like posts, even comment on my own status updates that I have put on via laptop. When I click post on iPhone nothing! Any help greatly appreciated.
