How to use iMessage for specific contacts iPhone 5

I'm thinking this is impossible, but I thought I'd post and see if I could get an answer. I am running short on data and have unlimited texts and therefore I turned iMessage off because I don't have access to WiFi anywhere. But I found out that it's the only way that I can contact some friends that are out of the country. Is there a way that I can enable iMessage only for those people and leave it disabled for everyone else? I've looked through the forums and searched for the answer, but I can't even find someone who has the same problem as me. Any help would be appreciated.

My sister and myself are getting each others text messages. Help Hard Question iPhone

This whole problem started when I first got my Iphone 5 around christmas time of last year. And i did the normal activation of my new Iphone and syncing my old iphone 4 with this new phone. I synced everything and it was all good, but i started to get these random text from people in my message log. I soon found out that i was recieving every text that was sent to my sister. And if i replied to someone who was texting my sister it would show up like she texted them, not me on a seperate number. Also when i text my sister she would get the text but immidiatly after i sent her it, i would also get a text from myself saying what i sent her. I will literally get a text message from my own number to myself, (Weird ****). So its like my sisters text messaging is fused with mine. Its only messages though, no images or anything else. In the beginging i didnt care about this becasue she wasnt recieving my text i was only getting hers. But now just today she tells me she is getting my text too. And thats a problem! This problem lasted all the way up to about 2 months ago and then i stopped getting her messages. But i gave one of my friends my old iphone 4 and once they activated it for there own use it started to happen again. They use a seperate plan then i do and there number on the phone is different. Before i gave them the phone i wiped everything off of it. i took off the contacts, messages, everything. They use a different apple account and icloud account now on the phone. So idk why it started up again i need help. Here is some background. My whole family shares the same apple account with everything. We have seperate phones, numbers and data for the most part. But with dealing with Icloud and itunes anything like that, we use the same account. My sister uses a Iphone 4s btw. With my old Iphone 4 i had no probelms with this, everything was normal. But once i switched to the new iphone 5 this problem has occured. Idk what this is about, i havent heard anyone else with this problem, but i need help! btw my other family members on their phones do not have this problem. So i think it has to do something with the icloud but im not sure! This is a serious problem and i need help! Goodluck!

A couple of days ago I found what seems to be water damage under my iPhone 5 screen although to my knowledge it has not been near water. The phone is fully working and the water damage indicator is still white. If I send this off to Apple and they deem it to be water damage and say they're charging me, is it worth appealing?

Character count not work for all contacts anymore. iPhone

I have an iPhone 4 running 6.1.3 with character count enabled and on the Sprint network. Recently character count stopped working when texting at least one of my contacts that i know for sure. I haven't gone through to see how many other contacts have the same issue, but i know it still works for some other contacts. Why would character count show for some of my contacts but not others? And what would cause it to stop working when it showed the number of characters before?I have found the problem exists regardless of if it's an SMS text or iMessage. And there is only one contact at a time that is the recipient; it is not an MMS. Is it possible that there actually is more than one recipient that i'm not aware of or is there another reason why character count would stop working only for certain contacts all of a sudden?

Maps no longer giving transit instructions iPhone 3G

I am very disappointed to find that I can no longer use my iphone to find public transit instructions using maps.  This was my go-to method of independent travel.  Now that I've moved to a city I just found out that maps no longer will find me busses!  I now have had to do research into apps, and use a combination of two apps as well as the metro system website to figure out a simple trip.  What used to be one step has turned into many steps. What was apple thinking with this change????? I'm living in Seattle and so far have not found an app that performs all the functions of the old iphone maps.

It's almost 6 months since I've encountered this problem. I already requested my carrier to have my iphone 4s replacedand a series of testing was done to my iphone 4s before they found out this it was defective. Now, I have my new iphone 4s but the same problem was again encountered. The message delivered late and sometimes messages aren't received at all. Though I have a complete network bar as seen on the upper corner of the screen, incoming calls aren't received and outof coverage area. Hope you can help me on this.

On May 1, 2013 I received from my husband as a gift, an iPhone 5 16GB White (Model A1429) after his return from a trip to the African continent. I used the Iphone 5 for only 15 days, while the rear camera crashed. In an attempt to solve, restored the software and not solved. Then took the Iphone 5 Apple technical assistance in Recife / PE, called iTown where it was found that it was a hardware problem and Iphone 5 should be replaced. However when checking the model of Iphone 5 assistant coach said the serial number on my Iphone 5 (F1HK3LNGDTWF) was not authorized by Apple for replacement and that I should contact the Apple 0800. I made contact and technical support agent (# 451 886 701), Samir, informed me that the model of my iPhone 5 (A1429) is not warranted in Brazil and should submit to Apple in the country where it was purchased. Tell it had received a gift from my husband and had been acquired in a electronics store in Johannesburg international airport, not having expected to return to the country in the coming years. Requested that the equipment be sent through Apple Brazil, to the place where it was possible to repair or replace the Apple Iphone 5 Brazil defective by a new, but Samir informed me that he could not do anything for me and that very sorry. Well, I understand that Apple is a company present in several countries and that your warranty is worldwide. Still hopeful, I sent an email to Apple Feedback reporting the incident, but so far have not received any feedback. I'm very disappointed with Apple for this embarrassment and injury. The Iphone 5 cost USD 1,100.00 and in less than 15 days the camera stopped working.I await a return to Apple with the solution for the inconvenience caused.Sincerely,

iphone 5 lock button not working

I get my iphone 5 for only two months and last week i found out that my lock button is not really working. At first i thought it was because of my casing make it not working, after then i took off the casing and then i have to press it hardly or press on the different angle then it just works! so i wonder, the whole lock button works if the iphone don't have any problem？ or some angle we press may not respond?it still working most of the time now just i wonder can i get the new one under warranty? when i press the wrong angle, it takes me few seconds to lock my iphone i am feeling like how come i use only for two months such problem can accur ;( pls help!

tips on bringing water damaged iPhone 5 screen back to life

Recently spilt a drink on my iPhone 5 and it seems as though the liquid has found it's way into my screen. It has left a dark blotchy deposit of liquid behind my screen the touch screen rarely senses my finger even in the parts without the dark blotches. I have tried leaving it in rice and blow drying it but it has only had a minimal impact. Does anyone have a suggestions of how to fix it?

VNC from iphone to mac without wifi

Hello everyone, I'd like to know if it is possible to VNC from my iphone/ipad to my macbook without wifi? I use real VNC viewer to access my Macbook (which has Real VNC Enterprise Server installed) using my iphone/ipad and it works well when I have Internet. However, I'd also like to be able to control my mac from my iphone in the same fashion when I do not have access to WIFI or wired Internet. I have scoured the net for answers and while there are plenty of links for controlling your iDevice from your Mac, there is seemingly nothing out there that shows you how to do the reverse in the absence of Wifi. I have read about SSH tunneling via a tethered USB connection but have not found any comprehensive instructions as to whether such a method would work to control my Macbook with my iPhone/iPad. I was hoping there would be devices such as receivers plugged into the USB port that would allow this sort of interaction when no Internet is available but haven't come across any. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks.

Springboard Problem and Cannot Save SMS messages iPhone 5

My wife took her phone to the Apple store for a bad speaker and short battery life.  They replaced the speaker and ran diagnostics and determined that Springboard was bad.  They can reflash the phone, and she can restore content from the cloud, but will lose all her stored SMS messages.  She can do a full backup to our computer, but Apple said if she restores from that, the problem will return to Springboard. This was incredulous to me that Apple would mix data with programs and have this issue.  Another appointment at the Genius bar and I went with her.  Same story from Apple.  They even gave me an analogy that if you car has a problem caused by bad oil and you drain the oil and fix the problem, and then put the old oil back in, the problem returns.  I thought a more apt analogy is having to remove the radiator to fix your air conditioner, and putting the antifreeze back in the radiator after reaasembly.  It will NOT break the A/C again. I found some third party applications that may do what is needed for $20-$70.  The Apple store had their canned spiel on third party applications. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a workaround?  And is it believable that the world's largest technology company still writes their software this way?

IMEI shows unit as replaced iPhone 4S

I received an unlocked iPhone 4s as a christmas gift from the US. (I live in the Philippines.) When I got it it was still in its original plastic and sealed. I have recently had trouble with it  (Updated ios, got the battery glitch, did the forum repairs, got the recovery mode errors, did the Apple Support KB tips, got error 40 and 1601, now just want to wipe the phone completely.) and am trying to see if a repair is possible. 1) Philippine service centers won't touch it, because it is not an "in-country" purchased phone, and is out of warranty. That's fine, I get that.2) When going to the self-help site, there is an "IMEI checker" when trying to submit a ticket. I punched in the IMEI found on the outside of the box, and it shows that the phone has been replaced.3) It's never been replaced. Ever. I had never even brought it in for repair in any store, in any country, until yesterday, to an accredited shop. My questions are:1) Is it possible that this is an error?2) What possible recourses are there for me for repair? I'd like to avoid sending the brick back to the States and then pay a kidney for a repair/replace. (Might as well get another phone!)

Choosing Yes resulted in no change to contacts. Choosing No deleted all of my contacts from phone (and gave me a heart attack)Facebook App > Log OutResult: No change to contacts.Settings > Facebook > Delete Account (to delete account off iPhone only).Result: Took contacts list down to 50 (some random Facebook contacts a few others) and wiped out nearly all manually entered contacts (gave me heart attack # 2).Settings > Facebook > Add Account. I've always believed that the problems have been with my chargers. The original charger broke so I bought just a cheap one from ebay, this one broke so I bought another cheap one and so on. I then found out a special chip apple have in the new iPhone 5 chargers so I believed all the problems must have been the chargers so I went to the apple shop and bought a brand new charger for £15, a few days later this also broke. So I went back and bought another one not thinking anything of it, this new one has broke again. I'm now starting to think that maybe the problem could be with my phone and not the chargers? I'm just sick of spending so much money on phone chargers that only last a few days.

Warranty in USA only iPhone 5

I bought an iPhone5 in this January in Detroit.  I found the HOME button wasn’t quite responding but I didn’t care too much. But yesterday it completely went wrong. No matter how long or how many times I pressed it, the phone is not functioning. However the virtual “home” button on the screen is working well.Today I went to Apple store in Shanghai (Nanjing EAST) for repair. The staff told me I can only have warranty service in the states because this was purchased there. Is there any other way instead of flying my phone back to Detroit?

Replacement battery for iPhone 5 unstable phone crashing. Putting old battery in fixes everything. HELP

I got a new battery for my iPhone 5, after I suspected my old one was damaged when I encountered a software bug that caused high power drain, making the entire phone very hot. I installed the battery and the phone booted without problem. I noticed that the phone was hiccuping a bit - not responding to input, swipes, scrolling, etc as quickly as before. I then noticed the phone rebooting randomly. I thought the LCD cable wasn't plugged in all the way, so I messed with that for a couple of hours, but couldn't get the rebooting issue to go away. I then decided to swap my old battery in, and voila, it worked. I did some searching for others with the same problem, I found mainly cases with the 3G and 3GSs and a bit of hardware incompatibility between new batteries and the phone. Seemed the fix that most people did was to keep on buying batteries until they found a stable one. Is this a problem with the iPhone 5's as well? If so, is there a better fix?

My iPhone 4 bluetooth not working

My iPhone 4 bluetooth is not working. I have recently bought two iPhone 4 from a colleague. Both have bluetooth problems as mentioned below.  Here's what I did and found:1. I turned on bluetooth on my iPhone 42. Then I turned on bluetooth on my nexus 73. Nexus 7 found my iphone 4, then I started pairing my nexus 7 with my iPhone 4.4. Pairing successful. iPhone 4 showed Nexus 7 listed.5. But when selected Nexus 7 in the list, within a few seconds, message popped up "Nexus 7 is not supported". The same situation occured when I tried the above steps with my sonyerricson W580 phone. But my Nexus 7 and sonyerricson W580 can easily communicate over bluetooth. Can anyone suggest me what to do in order to make the bluetooth on my iPhone 4 to work?

iphone 5 and backing up corrupt

I'm trying to back up my iPhone to my computer, and I'm getting the message"iTunes could not back up the iPhone [my_name] because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone"  I sorta know how it happened.  I lost a hard disk, but kept a current backup of my entire iTunes library on another drive (because I've lost drives before) and when I replaced it, itunes worked again, except for this...  Anyhow, I've googled this problem, and found a solution; in Device Preferences > Devices, delete any backups that appear, and then try again.  But... The box is empty.  There are no backups listed.  I used to have one, I know I did.When I try to back up again, thinking it would create a Device Backup, I get the error. I'm not interested in recovering anything from the backup, as I have original on the phone, as well as the current library. I just need to delete something in the iTunes folder in order to clear this problem, but I don't know what.  (I'm an advanced user, I can handle it.)  Help! thanks

my iPhone 4 Genuinely NEW or Refurbished Please HELP

#I just received my BRAND NEW, SEALED, iPhone4 32 GB FACTORY UNLOCKED which I bought from Ebay. After unboxing, I switched on the phone to find that it was already activated, and did NOT show the "Connect to iTunes" screen, which gave me doubts whether this phone is actually brand new, the phone does have that protective film on the front and back which normally comes with brand new iPhones, anyhow I went online and did some intense research and found interesting facts about the serial number, and from my understanding the phones with serial numbers starting with 5K could be a refurbished phone, and indeed my supposedly BRAND NEW iPhone which came in a sealed retail box with all accessories does have a 5K serial number, so I did some more googling and came across a web site which gives details about an iPhone with its serial number and it shows this phone is a refurbished one. I checked on Apple website for warranty and it says "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contactus."  #Now all you good knowledgeable people out there, please please shed some light on this matter.Is this really a genuine brand new phone? When I contacted the seller regarding     the phone being already activated, he said it is normal with phones     which are factory unlocked. But I believe it is actually supposed to     show  - “Connect to iTunes” screen. That was how it was with my     iPhone 3G. At least right out of a brand new box. Am I correct? How can a refurbished iPhone come in a     sealed retail box? Even if that was the case, would it cost the same     as a normal brand new FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone because I paid US $     904.00 for this. Does Apple sell refurbished iPhones as     new? What confuse me is that the box have all the labels intact as     it was a sealed box, and the serial number and IMEI number match     with the actual phone. Should I consider this a genuine     product that Apple meant to sell as it is or better I go for a claim     and either get a refund or replacement from the seller on Ebay?.   Thank you very much in advance for all your kind help and insights. I found an app that provides a call confirmation without jailbreaking the phone called "Group Contact." in settings, if you turn 'return to the app after phone call" on, you get the message "you will be alerted before making the call, and the app will be re-opened after the call." Before every call, a call confirmation is delivered, which solves my problem perfectly!

Backup Issues Deleting Other Files iPhone 4S

I recently replaced my iphone screen and afterwards I discovered that my camera roll had crashed. With it, I lost all of my pictures and videos. Luckily, I recovered them from a program that I had downloaded. However, the storage that used to take up my photos and videos on my phone had transfered to the "other" section on itunes. Is the only way to remove/decrease the storage of the "other" file by restoring your iphone? I don't want to restore my iphone because I am also having issues with backing up my phone. Whenever I try to back it up on itunes, it says "the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the iphone". My phone has never been backed up because of this issue, so if I were to restore my phone then all off my files would be deleted. I have tried reseting my phone, but the "other" section is unchanged. Is there anyway I can delete the corrupt files on my phone? I have tried removing all pictures, videos, apps, and music in an attempt to discover the source of the corrupt files but I haven't found them. Also, if I was to "restore backup" with my iphone from my ipad, would that mean losing my messages?

iPhone 5's POWER BUTTON got compressed.

I bought an iPhone 5 last month, for starters, i didn't notice that the Power Button was compressed as in its still working but just, it doesn't have the 'button click' feel like a normal iPhone. Recently my friend bought an iPhone too, when i compared our iPhones, i found out that his iPhone's Power Button has a 'pop up' feel where mine is compressed. I'm from Kuala Lumpur and the place i bought it in Johor. Can i know whether can i get a repair or replacement for it? Who should i contact to do so? Note: i bought it in a small DIGI shop in Johor. And, i heard that iPhones bought in small retail shops cannot be replaced/repair/etc.

My iPhone depleted fast and it cannot charge iPhone 4S

I had a story about not charging iPhone. PHcharge my iPhoneI insterday evening (Philippine Time). But it charged less than 1 second. It running out. I plug it anywhere but it not worked. iPhone 5 camera problem

I just bought my iphone 5 one month ago then i realise my camera was not functioning, It always stuck in black screen when i try open the camera apps. I found out there are actually many people who bought iphone 5 suffered this problem when i try to look for resolution online. I want to go for warranty but my phone got dent on it's appearance. Therefore, apple told me that my phone was unable to warranty. Package and product number differ iPhone 5

I bought the iPhone 5 from  Star One Mobile in Sim Lim Square Singpore recently. After reaching my place , just found that the  serial number and IMEI number in my iPhone 5 product and the packaging box are different. When I check on the website the packaging number shows the product is replaced but the number in product shows valid. Can some one explain the difference?I did not anticipate an Apple product having a difference in serial and IMEI number  from the packaging --- probable that the Star one mobile could have changed the package?

I have an iPhone 3g and my wifi wasn't working at all! The wifi button wasn't working like I couldn't press it at all, so my brother told me to erase my iPhone. I backed it up and erased my iPhone, it didn't work so he told me to jailbreak it because he thought maybe since my iPhone was originally jailbroken it might just need it to be jailbroken again. I did that and when I looked at it again ALL apps were gone! There were no settings, safari, or app store nothing, it was just a blank page! (A blank page with, oddly enough, my same wallpaper still) When I tried to search up things on the iPhone it was found, but it said it was not loaded at all. Help anyone??

After months and months of not being able to update my iPhone 4 to the new technology due to storage usage, i was finally able to. Now after two hours of waiting, my phone says it was verifying the update. My phone turned off and then turned back on and i got the plug into iTunes icon. After i plugged it in it says that the iPhone update server cannot be found.

iPhone images won t restore after phone reset

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iPhone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iPhone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone. Now the problem is images. There is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file. In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space.  Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found. She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iPhone are not here, where are they? Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again? Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received... The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iPhone and images previously uploaded from the laptop. Cheers Chipontheroad

I found an Iphone on Ebay that I am thinking about buying but it says it has a bad ESN. What does that mean? is it still okay to buy it?

Desperate- way to extract location history of my iphone where I have been

Please help- its my understanding that iphone stores where you have been (location history). When I was searching the Internet to see if I could access this info, I found Pete wardens iphone tracker download (I think it came out in April 2011), but then I read that apple fixed this problem of storing this info on your computer too, by releasing a software update shortly after. Is that correct? If I backup my iphone to computer will it have a file on there that stores the history of where I and my iphone have been? Or is this no longer the case? I desperately need a log with time stamps, I need to prove where I have been in the last week (marriage problems). If iphone only keeps this info on the phone now, can I access it somehow?Thanks for your help-Alisha
