My iPhone, purchased in Hong Kong, suffered water damage in canada and the personnel at the Apple store was unable to provide me with a replacement phone. Their reason is that HK model is different from the North American versions that they carry, hence replacement would need to take place in Hong Kong Apple stores. I am wondering if it came across anyone's situation where they were able to get a replacement iPhone 5 in canada, even though it is not the North American version. Alternative solutions are also welcomed. Thanks!

So here is what happened.. I live in canada and my app store is obviously registered to the canada App Store and today I was in my app store and I tried to download an app but a pop up came up saying you have to be in the US App Store to download. And the only option for me to press was "okay". My phone then kinda delayed an froze.. So I turned it off and back on. Went back in my App store and I saw an App that I wanted and when I tried to install it says " Your account is not valid for use in the U.S. Store. You must switch to the Canadian store before purchasing." I have no idea how to do that! I looked around and saw no where to click "okay" again to switch.. Please help me! Thank you!

Hi I am looking at signing onto a contract or tab for an iPhone 5, in canada, using one of the local providers (Rogers, Telus, Bell, Virgin etc). I was told in one store that obtaining an iPhone 5 on this basis will mean it is locked to the network and that all the networks here are unable to unlock them. I could do it through a third party but that would void my manufacturer's warranty (ie AppleCare). The Apple store here in Calgary told me different - they said that phones are easily unlocked for a fee by carriers, and didn't mention any loss of warranty. I have previously unlocked a phone through iTunes in Australia, and have had the same phone serviced by Apple with no problems at all. Could someone please clarify what is really the case here in canada? Thanks

My iPhone 5 keeps going into "recovery mode" unexpectedly. I've restored and updated it at least 3 times. I am in Ottawa, Ontario, canada and I got an iPhone 4 GSM from my friend, which I plan to use if my iPhone 4S dies and I need a loaner. The iPhone 4 GSM is not jailbroken and it's locked to Telus Mobility in canada. The iPhone is running iOS 6.1.However, the home button on the iPhone 4 sticks almost every time I use it (closing running applications is a real pain since most of the time the iPhone doesn't detect that I've pressed the home button twice), and the phone occasionally resets itself for no reason. I didn't get a receipt for the iPhone 4 when my friend gave it to me and I don't have any sort of warranty for it.Can I still get it fixed by Apple? Should I get it fixed by Apple or get a third party to look into it?
Personal Hotspot iPhone 4 disabled by previous GSM operator
My current operator allows and has included in my plan cellular internet tethering. (I had used their services on this device before as well). I have switched to another service provider (O2 - UK) at some point, and they have somehow disabled my personal hotspot option via a "Network Settings" message they have sent when I first switched over. Now I am back with my old GSM operator, but their support center does not know how to re-enable the option on my phone. The "Set Up Personal Hotspot" button in the "Cellular" tab is grayed out and cannot be used right now. I am already on 6.0.1 and cannot update the iOS. Tried resetting the Network settings several times - it does not work. I really do not want to revert back to factory settings - lots of things to lose.. I just thought I'd also ask here as well. (By the way I can insert my SIM to other devices and they can tether the internet, so the trouble is really in the device) I would appreciate any help.Thanks.

Hi, today I did an update through iTunes to latest firmware and suddenly my Sim is not working..I reset my phone all contents and after initial setup where I have to choose WIFI, it says Sim not Valid. This is very stressful. I have bought a facotry unlocked phone from canada,I have reset the phone many times before and it worked fine so it's not jailbroken or anything. WiFi problem should I replace it iPhone 5
I've bought my iPhone about a month ago and for the first few weeks the wifi was working well. Then the wifi started to stop working, the signal was showing on my phone but it was just an illusion; I couldn't access the web browser or youtube. I first tried a hard reset to see if that fixed it but it didn't. Afterwards I heard about the new 6.0.2 update which is supposedly fixes wifi issues but it didn't. I thought it was my router but my brother and sister's ipods connected fine and as well as other wifi related devices so it couldn't be that. Now I'm thinking if it is a hardware problem or if I should wait for update 6.0.3. Some other information is that when I first connect to my wifi it works for like 5 mins and drops the connection until I reconnect again. Also I have to be rally close to my router to connect to the internet rather than before. TL;DRWiFi used to work but then it stopped; tried everything such as hard reset nothing worked so I want to know if it is a hardware problem or not. -iPhone 5(GSM) (canada)-6.0.2

I have a question. Will iPhone 5 (A1428) Will Work on USA (T-Mobile, Cincinnati Bell Wireless), canada (WIND Mobile, Mobilicity, Videotron), Chile (VTR, Nextel)?. I especially interested on vtr carrier in Chile, the don't have offcialy iPhone 5, but I used two iPhone4 sice last year, vtr has a AWS network and a roaming service with Movistar (GSM), my iPhone is from Entel (GSM). If I buy an iPhone in Chile (Movistar, Claro, Entel) I think, I will buy A1429. If I bought throught Apples Store I'll receive A1428, I want to know if it will work on vtr's AWS network.

iPhone 5 Personal Hotspot much slower than iPhone 4 3G vs LTE
I have an iPhone 5 now but the internet is a lot slower while using Personal Hotspot than it was when it was called "tethering" on my iPhone 4. I can't watch Youtube, etc. It takes too long. LTE just over all doesn't seem any faster than 3G. I'd prefer to use 3G most of the time. ANd it seems like iPhone 5 will not allow me to use Personal Hotspot with 3G. Only LTE. Am I the only one who experiences this?
iPhone 5 went in cold weather crashed no more mobile internet.
Hi, I went outdoor today and it was on a crazy snowstorm day. Temperatures were about -15 celcius outdoor. With my older iPhones I never had any problem with such weather. But with that one, it simply crashed in the middle of a FaceTime call and it wouldn't restart untill I got home. Where I restarted it, and found out that I'm not able to connect to 3G or LTE anymore. I'm still able to make phone calls though. Any idea of what's going on with my iPhone? I have an AppleCare on it so I wouldn't mind changing it but still, Winters in canada are very cold. Hello, I had a upgrade of of the New 4s phone in October, after charging the unit up I found the top half of my screen was not working. So contacted Vodaphone who turns rd and tells me they dont have any in stock. They Then send me to apple who try and also find a phone and fine they also dont have any in stock but would call me when they do. Happy with this. Five weeks later i have a call saying a phone will be sent to my local agent in Leicester for them to sort this out and update and down load my phone with details and app etc.Hoping that the apps i brought would be safe as of photos.I Then drive 9 miles into city and pay 4.50 for parking to find the phone had not been sent, told to come bake this Thursday which i did. Same again, still no phone and they did not have one in stock they could just give me to replace my phone which has a yr cover with apple. I am now getting really unhappy with apple and vodaphone, I run my own company and use apple alot, but this yr the service anc customer support is really bad. I had a call back from canada and US who really tried there best to help but cant as the UK dont work 24hr like them over there. He tried do a refund for me on the itune product i had brought as cant be used due to phone not working. I reported this to apple time and time again, and they say we get some one to call you. You did some one from across the other side of the water who really cant help. I have now contacted Trading Standards with them opening a case under the sale of goods act. As you all would know, the Unlocked iPhone 5s went on sale on the US Apple Store, before a few hours. Although, this is the A1428 GSM model, which supports only the US & canada LTE frequencies. I am interested in buying the A1429 CDMA model (the one sold with the Verizon/Sprint contracts) as a phone, at full price, because it supports LTE bands in more regions than any other model. Yes technically you can. (Si puedes, pero el envio de la tienda en canada, es nada mas para canada) The phones are fully unlocked and compatible with all carriers. The only issue, is in Mexico, only Iusacell has 4g LTE. (Ni Telcel ni Movistar lo tiene, asi que no vas a poder usar esa tecnologia, pero debe de fucionar con el 3G normal) The only problem is that currently no Carrier in mexico has Nano sims for sale. iPhone 5 uses Nano Sims. You can attempt to cut your normal, or Micro Sim to fit, but thr thickness may be an issue. (De que se debe de poder, se debe de poder, pero hay questiones que hay que considerar)
Just wondering why apple would release product in canada knowing it doesnt even function properly . iPhone 4S
I am refering to Siri. I can't even ask it where the nearest Tim Hortons is because it doesn't work in canada. Seems to me apple has failed in large by releasing a product in canada without it even having full functionality. It seems to me that they are throwing us Canadians a huge slap in face because it basically says if you were in this product would work but because you live in canada we didnt bother to make it work for you. You could gaurantee that they would not have released it in the US knowing that Siri doesnt work properly there.

I'm not entirely sure how this works but I assume you have the chip for a reason -that your phone is transferrable. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any idea what the cost is? Hi all, Need help on a tricky issue: My iPhone 5 originally purchased from canada - fully unlocked and has been working great with AT&T (went to their corp. store in the Bay Area and picked up a Nano SIM no question asked). I was able to roam on LTE/4G/3G as needed. I've even tried using the T-Mobile naon SIM and it roam fine on their EDGE network. Was doing family vacation at Hong Kong - ironically w/ with the help of HKG Apple Store, they helped me purchase a local CSL One2Free prepaid SIM and used it for 10 day in HKG (via 3G). Returned to US on Sunday, pop in the AT&T Nano SIM, the phone was able to connect AT&T's network - I was able to make calls and receive txt etc, but with no internet acess - as if Cellular Data part turned off. Tried Reset Network Settings. Tried, a full wipe and, and full reinstalled and can't seems to get it to work. Went to AT&T corporate store this morning and asked for fresh new Nano SIM again. They said my account and the SIM should work fine, but they gave me a new SIM anyway. Did one more soft network rest then I was back on LTE (yay). *BUT* when I go into Settings > Ceullar > Enable LTE (turning it off) I am left with no (the usual swtiching) to 4G or 3G as you would have expect. Any suggestion on what to do next would be great. LTE is "okey" on the Bay Area, but I would really like the phone to have back up acess to 4G and 3G on data as it has always been when I first purchased it. ps- obivouly Wi-Fi works.

I'm not positive, but I am fairly sure it was the update to the Tab that caused the tethering function to become inoperative. Unfortunately I updated the iPhone soon after...and I acknowledge that it might have been that. In any case, it used to work perfectly - I used it alot - then it wouldn't work. It connects immediately...with a strong signal...and it *appears* to be assigned an IP address by the iPhone...but it won't surf. The iPhone can surf fine by itself.The Tab can surf fine by itself (when using home or public Wi-Fi)I reset the network settings in the iPhone (which to my immense annoyance did not help)I've tried many times to "forget" and re-connect to no avail.I renamed my iPhone to remove spaces & punctuation marks (no difference - and was not a problem before)Have tried to tether via BT; devices *will* pair, but iPhone says they are incompatible and aborts the connection.
