Audio IssueFeature in Video Playback iPhone 5

I have just picked up on a 'thing' with the video playback on the iPhone 5. It seems that dynamic range compression and/or EQ is applied to the soundtrack of videos. I first noticed it when I was trying to watch a few concert films and noticed that not only was the sound horrendous but during the high volume scenes, it was distorting. I have tested the same movies on an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPad which don't seem to have this problem/feature. Has anyone else noticed it? And even better yet, figured out a way to get rid of it?   Additional thoughts: I have also noticed that when you play music through the loudspeaker, some form of dynamic range compression is also applied to the sound. Personally I think it sounds terrible but I can understand why Apple would have done this. However, it doesn't affect the headphone output signal, thank goodness, SO, I speculate that it could be a bug that when a video is played, the OS isn't recognising that the headphones are no longer a loudspeaker and not bypassing the audio signal, therefore applying the compression to the sound.  Playing the video audio through Bluetooth headphones removes the compression and distortion of the sound track in videos, and that would have been the solution, but now videos no longer play in sync with audio through Bluetooth on the iPhone 5. (Grr.) Last thing, the new EQ 'Late Night' that adds compression and EQs the sound in the Music app and sounds possibly like the effect that is being applied to video audio output.

WiFi iPhone 4

Ok so here's the deal.  At work I barely get one bar on our wireless network, but at home I of course have full signal.  At work I turn off the wifi because at that weak of a signal, it takes forever to send email or a picture on my phone. So I switch to the cellular network, and bam it goes fast.   But then when I get home I want it on the WiFi and keep forgetting to turn it on.  So my question is (without Jailbreaking) hasn't someone come up with an app that will set timers for wifi to turn on and off?  That seems like one that should have been out in the first year of Apps? 

Iphone 4 on t-mobile full signal but wont makereceive calls

Please help - My iphone 4 intermittently stops making and receiving calls/texts without warning, the phone will have a full signal and could be anywhere in the country but when you try to make a call it won't do it. If you then ring the phone it is as if it is turned off, if you then turn the phone off then on again it works perfectly well until the next time which might be in days or hours. T -Mobile talked me through a reset but this has not worked and Apple want a fee to help further as the phone is 22 months old, it is however little used and still looks new. Any help appreciated

iPhone 5 not ringing or alerting of texts calls going to voice mail

My iPhone 5 recently started having problems with the ringer.  The ringer will be turned all the way up, the mute button is NOT being used and the phone will not ring for calls or alert for texts.  It is not always happening, but more so than not.  I have tried rebooting the phone, the OIS is up to date and I do not have the "Do Not Disturb" set.  I can be in the same spot with LTE and full signal have a call/text that is missed then receive a call/text and it rings.  Does not seem to matter if the call is coming from a land line, same Verizon carrier cell or different carrier cell there is no noticable reason.  Any ideas???

way of sharing my Macbook Pro's Wifi connection to iPhone 4 Not Using iPhone as hotspot for laptop other way around

So a nasty smash destroyed both Front & Back of my iPhone 4, and since having them replaced the Wifi signal has been really weak. I have seen other posts about screen replacement having to be done by going through the antenna, so something could be missing, or done incorrectly during the screen repair. Will definately be taking it back to the shop and finding out if It was put back together properly.  In the meantime I was wondering if it is possible to share my Macbook Pro's Wifi (always full signal in my house) directly to my iPhone either using USB cable or through bluetooth. It's not been too much of a problem but it would be nice to use my iPhone in bedroom using the Macbooks good signal.  Note: The replacement front screen on iPhone has a small gap >1mm between the screen and centre metal casing on the left side just above the Silent/Loud Switch, which can be noticed by light leaking through the gap. The metal casing also still has a small dent between the volume down buttons and silent/loud switch, again nothing drastic 1mm maximum

my iphone 5 often losses its network signal. i am islanded from the network often. this affects my connectivity with my business & friends. with this problem my iPhone 5 is working like only an iPod. certainly iPhone 5 is not meeting the purpose of a mobile phone.  can anyone suggest me some solution for this issue..? Regards,Arunkumar

Wifi greyed out on Iphone 4s

All of a sudden I lost my wifi signal....Checked out the settings and the WiFi is off and unable to turn it back on....i have powered down the phone...i have done a full restore and the wifi switched remains greyed out....any suggestions?

Erasing all content iPhone 4

I have an iPhone 4. I've been having many isssues with it, since the 6.1.2 software update.My iTunes album artworks were all messed up.My phone wouldn't apply any changes made, only the application changes would update.I have been struggling with signal since the update. It reached the point where I opted to erase all content & start from scratch. I know this can take a few hours to do, but my phone has been in the "pending" state (erasing state) for almost 24 hrs now.Is this normal? If not, what can I do to get it to work?My sleep/wake button no longer works either.

iPhone 4s 6.1.3 problems with 3g In and Outgoing Calls

Hi Everybody!I got a factory unlocked (originally was Vodafon locked) iPhone 4s with firmware 6.1.3.When I insert my sim (Hungarian Telenor) when only EDGE is on it founds the signal and seems like everything is working.After a few hours or sometimes even a day passes by a phone stays on full signal with Carrier logo and Edge on, but my friends reporting that they cant call me(like im offline) and i cant make calls either.The interresting stuff is that the Edge connection is fully working during that im offline for my friends via Calls and i can send and recieve imessages and viber messages.When i switch 3g on it disconnects from service drops the EDGE and never finds the way back and stays 'searching' or 'no service' at all.. I thought that its my Carrier's fault so i went to spoke with them and tried 5different micro Sims( cause i wrote that 4s-s are sensitive to SIM card types).. this thing not worked either, Then i tried the phone with a T-mobile SIM card.. it does the same..connects to the services,but with 3g switched on not finding service..so totally like with my sim. Here Comes the bumm... i Tried the phone with vodafone sim and everything works.. simple connectivity to 3g with full internet usage,can make and recieve calls...I spoked with all of the Carriers and also Apple and no body can give me nothing..the phone is off varranty so changed to a new one isnt an option..Anybody? Something? im beginning to give up .. please help if you can..Thanks!!   ps.:i restored over 20times,reset network settings,switch off and on automatic setting time.. every little possible things that people wrote on forums before..

VZW iPhone 5 will not pick up LTE when s removed and put into Galaxy Nexus then back into iPhone 5

I have a VZW iPhone 5 activated as my main phone, I also have a VZW Samsung Galaxy Nexus that I use a sim adapter and swap the sim to. When I swap the sim from the iPhone 5 to the Galaxy Nexus for a day or so then back to the iPhone 5, I cant pickup LTE signal, it just stay at 3G. Although if I put the sim back in the Galaxy Nexus it still picks up LTE. The only way i can get the LTE back on my iPhone 5 is by going into VZW and getting a new sim card activated, in return kills my old sim card. Any ideas or help?? Poor battery life iPhone 5

My iphone 5 has the latest ios 6.1.3 and the battery life is hit and miss. The phone has been factory wiped in itunes and re set up. It sometimes will drop 50 percent on its own in a couple hours. If i do the home button and power reset on the phone the battery will report better. Maybe its a software glitch. I was also disappointed with the fact that i bought a high end home stereo and the iphone doesnt support the new apt-x codec yet their laptops do?  Why is this. Its no wonder apple stocks are falling. I have owned every iphone since the 3gs and really have not seen any real improvements other than processors and screens. Poor customizations, lack of ability to personalize the phone and really nothing to keep me with buying another apple. This is unfortunate as the hardware is great but the feature set just hasn't improved in 5 years. In fact i think it has gotten worse. Being a communications tech i used to use wifi apps for testing signal strength on installed accesspoints and those apps got stripped be ause of apples sdk or whatever it was. The slew of apps on the android market for this is staggering. Now i see that motorola, htc and samsungs are all supporting the apt-x codec but no apple. Gps apps are poor and apple maps for our area are black and whit and half are covered in clouds from the satellite view so you cant see the streets anyways. As a business phone the iphone is looking less imoressive day by day. As a music player its also now being outdone. I hope apple takes some of this to heart and really does something impressive to IOS 7 to restore faith in its fans. And maybe some day we will be able to use one of our songs for a ring tone instead of having to pay. My old cdma phone even had this ability.

I lost my phone last night and its either off, has no signal or has been stolen. When i use find my iphone it says all devices are offline, will anything say if the iphone is no longer set up to my apple ID or will it always just say its offline? Thanks 

iPhone 5 not holding proper LTE signal Sprint

So I've been reading a little bit about some issues with people's iPhone 5's not properly connecting to LTE on Verizon, but I was wondering if the same issues were with Sprint users as well. I called Sprint the other day (local store and Sprint National Hotline (*2)). Both of these sources said that they hadn't shown any problems with the LTE on any of the towers in my area, and this is in a very strong LTE coverage area. Is it hardware within the phone or an issue with the network? I've tried the cellular network update multiple times.... Thanks!

Hello, Does anyone know where I can find the complete description of all the individual data presented in Field Test Mode on an iPhone (via dialing *3001#12345#*)? Yup, I know what the basic decible strength means, but looking to interpret all of the other details.   My goal is to find the ideal configuration for a cellular frequency booster/repeater directional antenna and am getting some odd readings so far. The fact that I am in a mountain rural area and have scarce access to two competing cellular towers miles away complicates the task. I dropped my iphone 4 a while ago and the back over smashed. I then replaced it myself with a do-it-yourself package off the internet.  The phone has since developed other issues with reception, signal, and a broken front camera and hold/unlock button. Will Apple replace my iPhone for these faults or would they be unable to due to the damage that was previously caused?

Wonder if anyone can help? Today my IPhone 4S was working normal and then my phone came up as not having a signal by saying "No Service". i turned it off and back on again then i had a signal "Vodafone 3G". i started to send txt messages and IMessages but these never sent and now all my messages are failing and its not letting me use the internet like facebook and that. I have also tried holding the top button in and the home button in at the same time and rebooting the software. But this still hasnt worked. Now my IPhone 4S is only working through Wifi. If i go out of a Wifi zone my phone doesnt let me send messages nor use internet. I can call fine and recieve calls. Hello, I have a question concerning the Izone camera. I was asked to install a few of these izone cameras in our building. My only two questions are:  Can it function with a WPA2 wifi signal? Or does the Izon only work with WEP?What ports does this camera use? I cannot find any information on specific settings you can apply to this camera, are there even settings you can modify?

signal problems for iPhone 5

My iPhone is currently not working at my house. It will work while I'm in town. And As of Wednesday night it stopped working. I either have no service or 1 bar. But with that one bar it can not do anything. And everything used to work just fine. The rest of my family has iPhone 4's and they have between 1-3 bars and all of their stuff works just fine. Sometimes iMessage works. Sometimes it doesn't.  We tried putting in a new SIM card. That didn't work. I've tried to switch the lte service on and off and that doesn't work. I've reset the phone that didnt work. What else can I do to fix this?? Like I said less than a week ago everything was working just fine.  Thanks for the info

I am not getting LTE signal on my iPhone 5

I have recently purchased a 4G/LTE sim card from my carrier (Mobily). The phone doesn't show LTE notification on the screen. It is stuck in 3G. I have checked all settings and even restored my phone but still it is stuck in 3G mode. My friend who sits in the office next to me just got his iPhone yesterday and he is getting LTE signal notification on the screen.

I am in South Africa and my only means with communication back in the States was through iMessagea and FaceTime over wifi. They have been working fine for the past 3 weeks and all of a sudden they have both stopped working and say waiting for activation. I am using the same wifi I have been and I have a strong signal. I have also tried turning wifi off, iMessage off, and FaceTime off and resetting the networks, it didn't work. Any ideas on how to fix this? I just don't know why it would be working fine then all of a sudden stop!

My iPhone 5 not get GPS signal

Good day,I noticed with my iPhone 5 that the map directions never seem to work.  Then I noticed my Nike+ app GPS signal always shows as weak and it doesn't work.  I never had the problem with my iPhone 4S so I thought maybe the new iOS.  I took my old 4S in it's case (now my wifes phone) and started the Nike+ on it and on my iPhone 5 (no case) sitting next to each other.  The 4S got a strong GPS signal. The 5 got nothing... Has anyone out there experienced the same thing?  I'm trying to determine if this a global 5 thing or just my phone. Thanks all for your replies.

Ridiculous store iPhone 4S

I got my very first iPhone in November 2012 I was totally converted, until I starte having issues with my iPhone 4S... I made an appointment with the Genius Bar in meadowhall sheffield who after 3 appointments and the phone still being broken did indeed replace the handset. The new handset I now have has started coming apart... Its never been dropped or damaged but by the way it's going in about a months time the phone is going to be in about 4 pieces. I went to the Genius Bar who told me it would cost me £139 to replace! But hang on this is not my fault and I have like 300 days left of my warranty!!I then called apple support who told me the guy at the Genius Bar had logged the visit as accidental damage and that I had told him I dropped the phone!! The lady on the phone made me another appointment at the Genius Bar and sent with with a case ID and said they would replace the handset as because of the phone coming apart I was now experiencing signal issues, dropped calls and a lot of hardware issues... Only to get there and then tell me there's nothing they will do unless I pay £139!!!I'm absolutely disgusted!!! This is not my fault.. It's a faulty handset!!! But yet I'm supposed to be £139 out of pocket!!! Makes me wanna actually walk into store put the phone on the side and tell them where to shove the phone and go buy a Samsung! It's ridiculous!!!I really don't know where to go from here!Someone please help me :(

iPhone 5 Siri quit detecting soundsvoices 6.1.3

I'm not sure what's going on but after I updated my OS to 6.1.3 Siri hasn't been able to detect a voice signal (the pic of the mic doesnt even fluctuate like it hears noise). Voice to text also doesn't work. I have restarted it and when that didnt work I restored to factory settings. Is there a known issue with this? I have tried everything even made test calls while speaking very quietly and have had zero issues with being heard. I'm leaning tword a software issue because the mic works fine for calls and my phone is perfect... Anyone else having an issue or know of a fix?

How to fix my iPhone 4

Hi, I am new to the forum so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong location. I recently had the dock connector repaired on my iphone 4 and since getting the phone back the home button on the phone does not work at all. As well as this I am unable to get any sort of signal with the No Service message present at the top left of the screen. This occasionally scrolls to searching presumably looking for a signal but then returns to no service. I have tried the sim card in other handsets and it still works fine so I am at a loss as to why I am having these issues. I have also tried multiple restores and resets of the iphone to no avail.  Any tips on the matter would be greatly appreciated  Thanks

iPhone 5 signal Problem

When the phone is locked and after a minimum of 10 minutes I unlocked the phone, the phone is either "Searching" or "No Service" for at least 1 minute. It has been doing this for 2 weeks now. Any suggestions or advice of what could be the problem?

Iphone 4s excessive data usage

I turned on my phone this morning and had zero internet connection. O2 Guru told me I'd used up all 1GB data. Recently I received a warning text saying I was almost at the end of my allowance so I started monitoring it throughout the day and it was being eaten up. I have had the phone over a year and it's only now that my data is disappearing. I wonder if it's anything to do with the latest iOs 6.1.3?  I have had recurrent signal issues for a while too.  Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks P.S I recently added the Candy Crush app, is that known to be buggy? It's the only app I have added to the phone in months.

Feild test shows 130 always iPhone 5

Hi,I have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5, when I did a field test the iPhone 4 shows -65 , and iPhone 5 shows -130 , both placed on a table 50 meters from the tower, both show full bars when converted to show bars and the signals are great , where as the iPhone 4 signal stregnth changes frequently , the ip5 shows -130 through out the day . Is there a problem in my ip5? Both are running iOS 6.1.3! Any ideas?

Iphone 4 IOS 6.1.3 multiple problems. need help

Dear Friends, I hope apple is looking into the posts by customers. I was browsing through the forum and found single threads of issues. I think I am facing all in one and look forward for people who are facing similar issues. I have a iphone 4 on AT&T. everything was working great till 6.0 & problems since I upgraded to 6.1. Since then it has been quite unstable. below are some of the issues I am facing... 1. Phone sometimes goes unresponsive or very slow response for some apps [ action took..cleared all apps restarted/rebooted..no use]2. The signal strength has considerably dropped from before and sometimes says no service. Before I had atleast some good signal strength near my home.3. The battery drain issue..sometimes I feel the battery on usage makes the phone go hot. 4. As soon I unplug from the power, the phone drops couple of %'s over 10 min even without usage or very slight usage.5. The worst of all..sometimes the phone access 3g even when there is WIFI..it takes sometime to realize there is wifi..but all the time I think is using 3G to start off or completely on 3g all the times. I restarted the phone couple of times but no luck. I never had this problem before 6.1.  If any one have solutions or geniuses on solving at the least the priority one's let me know. Iphone 5 64gb no more 3G only GPRS with SFR help

Good morning, I have an Iphone5, 2 weeks approx, worked perfectly till yesterday morning. Problem: Turned on yesterday and 3G was there, then I turn on WIFI all morning worked from home as usual. Turned of WIFI went to the garage (no more signal as is underground) out of the garage no more 3G, EDGE etc, only for brief moment (seconds) I did the following operations: Reset network 3 times, 3G back for couple of hourse as I loose signal the phone doesn't go back any more to 3G no GPRS etc Changed SIM 3G as above. Reset the phone as above. Now with 3G of from setting I only use 2G and this is working well, still 3G is missing in action, other people around me same carrier SFR don't have the same problem, any ideas?

Ios 6.1.2 issue iphone 4

Since I upgraded my phone to ios 6.1.2, the phone becomes slow on opening applications. Another issue is whenever the signal is searching, the phone is freezing for a moment until the signal becomes stable. This was not an issue on ios 5.1.1.  This is bad..

When I got my white iPhone 5 it was damaged. typical. Because when they sent replacement. It was also damaged.

Well, I had a white iPhone 5, and it kept dropping signal, dropping calls, and resetting itself, so I called Apple. And they told me I needed to sign up for some tech support thingy. So I remembered I had insurance from my provider (Verizon). So I called them and they send me a new iPhone 5. Well the first iPhone I had was a little damaged. And if you're gonna pay $800 for a phone, you want it to be perfect right? Well they replaced my phone hassle free. I got my new phone with two huge scratches on the trim. And you can feel them. And I was wondering if this was a common problem with these phones.. Since this is my second one with the same damage done to it.

iPhone 4s stuck in DFU Recovery

I have an iPhone 4s that stopped receiving signal (from O2) despite numerous reboots. The SIM (and provider) works in another 'phone. Therefore I decided to backup and restore the iPhone in case it was a software bug. However upon restore, it gets 3/4 of the way through and then iTunes reports that an unexpected error has occurred (-1) and the iPhone reboots back into recovery mode.  Trying to restore to the new 6.1.3 and I have attempted to flash with a separate download of the .ipsw and also tried it on a different PC, both running iTunes 11.0.2.26. There is no antivirus or firewall active. I guess there could be an underlying hardware fault and not just software as I suspected? Any ideas what it might be? Nick

i am useing iphone 5  , and i always  have this problem  ( no service)  at my office even the  carrier caverage signal is perferct  on other phone at the same area  , i tried  all the possible ways  ( reset network sitting  nothing happen , even i change to another carrier and nothing happen unless i restart the phone ,and it will work for 1 min and again the same problem , any body knows whats the problem ?

Searching No signal iPhone 4

I am having a searching/ no signal error on my Iphone4. I havent been able to get service for three days.  I have done everything I can read about on this site. I have turned airplane mode on and off multiple times. I have restarted my phone multiple times. I have done a hard reset on my phone (by holding screen lock and home button) multiple times. I have reset network settings multiple times. I have reset all settings multiple times. I have completely restored my phone multiple times turning location services both on and off during reboot. I have turned 3g on and off. I have taken my case off. I have put another sim card from my friends Iphone and it does the same thing. I have also put my sim card in my friends phone and it worked fine. That tells me it isnt a sim card problem. I contacted Att and they told me it was an Apple hardware/software problem. Does any one have any way I can resolve this issue. Please Help meeeee!! Everything else in my phone works, and I would rather not have to buy a new phone. Thank You!!
