iPhone 4 completely dead-help

Hi, Last night my iPhone4 just stopped working. I'd experianced no previous problems with my phone.  I'd just sent a text and put the phone down. When I picked it up, a couple of minutes later, it appeared to be completely dead ? First of all I assumed the battery must be flat so I plugged it in to my laptop to charge it. Strangely, there was no chirp noise and the phone appeared not to be charging. I tried a different charger - still no response. Plugged back into my laptop and opened iTunes - phone did not appear as a device. Its just completely dead ? Is there anything I can do to try and re-activate it ? Can I take it to apple to get it repaired if it is broken (I don't have any insurance on my contract, so that option is not open to me) ? Any advice much appreciated ?

Hi, I held down the off and home button on my iPhone 4S 64GB and i thought it just turned off but it reset the apps and i still have photos and apps and everything but when i open any social aps it comes up with "connect to iTunes to use push notifications" and also before this event i was using iMessage all the time aswell as texting and now when i use iMessage it doesnt let me send or recieve messages anymore on my iPhone but it does on my iPad and it lets me recieve Texts. I have no clue how to fix this so please help me. Ps. I dont want to have to restore my iPhone because last time i lost the backup Thank you so much if you help me.~eva_needs_help

My girlfriend recently broke her iPhone 4 and had to get a new phone -- ever since she got a new phone, my iPhone 4S is missing hundreds of texts from her.  The last text my phone shows from her is from over two months ago.  At first I thought that only the iMessages were missing, but we have exchanged hundreds of SMS and iMessages in the last few months and they are all missing.  After she broke her phone there were a few days she texted me via iMessages on her iMac -- and those texts are all missing too, iMessages on her computer is also totally messed up.  I can understand why she would be missing a few messages on her new phone since she hasn't backed her phone up in a few weeks, and using iMessages between multiple devices is still glitchty -- but why did my girlfriend getting a new phone cause hundreds of texts to be deleted off of my phone? Currently running iOS 4.1.2 on iPhone 4S

I have an Iphone 5 and the camera shutter will not open, i will not work in any other camera app either. I can open and reopen it several times and then manage to click the front camera which does work fine. Full correct steps should be like this : 1) Select a favourite song in iTunes program to be made into Ringtone...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------2) "Get Info" on that song name and make any 0:30 seconds portion of that song.... (specify "Start" & "Stop" time - under "Options" – to any 30-seconds duration and click OK)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file...(when done iTunes will create a Chime)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------4) to locate the created .m4a file easily, Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Show in Finder" from the pop-up list...(iTunes will automatically point the folder location of the original .mp3 & the newly created .m4a files... keep this window open for later...)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------5) change the .m4a file to .m4r as suggested... (rename to whatever you like but you must change the extension to .m4r)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------6) At this point, the m4r(original) file isn't a "Ringtone" file yet... which we'll need to change now...) (check under "Get Info", this .m4r(new) File's "Kind" should be "Ringtone")//to get to that "TONES" Folder : First Locate your iTunes default Music Folder in your Mac --> usually it's in your Default "MUSIC" folder --> Navigate to "iTunes Media"  --> Navigate to "Tones". !! Keep this window open to make the transfer manually !!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------9) Once your duplicate is placed inside the "Tones" folder, double-click on that duplicate .m4r(true) file and let iTunes play, it should automatically place that ringtone file into the "Ringtone" sidebar List in the iTunes program... (check program to see) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------Somehow u needed both duplicates : 1 – inside the default initial .mp3 folder & 1 – inside the Tones Folder which we Duplicate+Drag into... and both must be "Ringtone" – Kind... for this to work.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------10) There you go. Now you can Sync / Delete / Add the whole Ringtone contents to your iPhone as you wish. //Don't forget to set SYNC ON under the iphone  "Tones" tab in your iTunes - iPhone screen... and click big SYNC button at the bottom of iTunes program & wait for the magic.( Finally you can check inside your iPhone "Sounds" settings and hopefully if all steps done correctly, the bloodycomplicatedringtone selection will be there. My notification center won t show anything iPhone

My Notification Center isn't showing anything. When my phone is locked, it doesn't show when I get a text. Only when I open my phone do I see that I have multiple texts, but it never vibrated for them. I went to my settings, and went under Notification Center, and it just shows the little "loading" symbol, but it won't open up the settings. When I swipe down my Notification Center, it only says "No New Notifications". I can't figure out why it's doing this. Could it be because I don't have good signal or something? I can't turn my phone off and back on because for some reason my button won't work. Someone please help!

I have been having trouble with my iPhone - sudden decrease in battery life, apps not working, Wifi not working, iCloud not working (don't ask me why, but when I go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and back up, the toggle is off and greyed out, giving me no option to turn it on). I was advised to back the iPhone up on my mac, reset the iPhone to factory settings and then restore it from the Mac.  So, all my apps have come over, but none of my contacts, SMS's, nothing. I can probably live without the SMS's but it will take me a long time to re-enter all my contacts.  However, they are all still in the Mac.  But I can't work out how to get the Mac to send the addresses back to the iPhone.   As previously stated, the iCloud doesn't work, so I can't use that.  I looked through previous entries and the advice was: open iTunes. Connect the iPhone. Select it under the Devices heading in the iTunes sidebar. Click on the Info tab in the main window. Check the Contacts box then sync. However, when I do this it say in contacts "your contacts are being synched with your iPhone over the air, over-the-air sync settings can be changed on the iPhone" But I don't want them synched over the air, because over the air (I assume this is iCloud) isn't working.  How do I set it (either iTunes or the iPhone) so that it synches, via USB cable, with the contacts on my Mac? I am totally, utterly confused and a bit cross as I am now worse off then before I reset the phone and was told that it would just back up from the computer.  And even more annoyed when I know the data I want is all still there (on the Mac in address book), I just can't drag it across.

I backup my iPhone contents using iTunes. But now when I restore from my backup the apps are missing but the rest of the stuff are there such as photos and the Apple's original apps Maps, Passbook, etc. How do I solve this? My phone will not connect to itunes long enough to get it to reset.  Is there any special key combination that I can use to brick the phone so that I can start from scratch, but without connecting to itunes?   The phone will not restart and stay on.  It just continues to go on and off on and off.  I get the apple logo, then to the home screen, but the slide to open bar does not glow, and then it just shuts off and starts over.  It never is on long enough to register with the computer.   I have tried both reset techniques.  neither works.  (holding down home key and on/off key until i see the apple logo, or holding down just the on/off key(never see the power bar).   I have an appointment, but would rather not go into the store.  If there is another way to brick the phone, I could then restore from backup.   Thanks!

It works fine if I switch to the front-facing camera, but when I switch back to the rear camera the shutter is closed. The same thing happens in instagram. For the past two days while my phone is charging I have not been able to explain this and sound sane. If I touch the settings icon the camera will open up, if Safari is touched then settings opens, allowing no function be assigned to their icon and it's is really freagin weird. A few times I have tried to power off the phone but won't allow me to slide the power bar off. Holding down the power/homescreen button will restart the phone but right back to madness. Can anyone at all explain what the **** is going on with my phone?? I did notice it with a particular charger and close to 2 other laptops. Not sure, but with my boyfriend around I thought he was playing a joke on me since he is very computer literate but denies anything to do with this and from what I can tell by what I've read it could be the charger? I need to know cause it's not anything I wish to encounter again, If this had video I'd show you. possessed I swear!

Unable to log into Facebook through Settings App iPhone 3G

When I download a new app and try to log into it though Facebook, it tells me that "Your Facebook settings prevent us from working. open your settings app, go to the Facebook section and turn ON (the app)." When I attempt to do that, it tells me that "There was a problem accessing your account. Please reenter the password for (my name)." I'm assuming that it's asking for my Facebook password, so when I enter that, it tells me that my username or password is incorrect. I've tried my Facebook password (which I know is correct because I logged in and out of it on my laptop just to make sure), and I tried my Apple ID password as well which didn't work either. The only other thing that I can think of is that my username is incorrectly entered somewhere, but it doesn't give me the opportunity to enter my username, all it asks for is my password. This is extremely frustrating because it's preventing me from using multiple apps. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Iphone 5 no screen being displayed. Please help

Recently a customer came in to replace his broken glass on his Iphone 5. I replaced the LCD + Digitizer assembly with a new one. The new screen was working properly except the camera shutter would not open. I removed the new screen to see if i accidentally disconnected the camera, but everything seemed to be ok. When i put the assembly back on, i no longer got any image or display on my new screen. It was just blank. The back light turns on, but no display at all. The power is on and iTunes recognizes the phone. I have done several screen replacements for the Iphone 5 before and this is the first time i have had this problem. Nothing seems to work....I have tried 3 different new screens and all had the same issue. I did a hard reset and same issue. I did a restore via iTunes and same issue. I would think that the parts i had were bad, but i tested them on another phone and they worked fine. I'm so puzzled. Can anyone suggest anything new for me to try?

I had recently changed my password on my iphone 5, next time I went to open my phone it wouldn't except the password I thought I had changed it to. Now I'm locked out of my phone and it just says connect to itunes. I connected to my itunes but it won't let me access anything from the phone since its locked and I need my password. I have never personally backed up my phone. When purchasing the phone the lady told me since I have icloud it gets automatically backed up and I had also purchased extra later. Just before going to purchase my new Iphone 5 to replace my iphone 4 which was also fully updated, I backed up all my software on both Icloud and a pc backup.  When I selected the restore from Icloud first many apps with saved data were missing.  I blanked the Iphone to new and used the pc backup with the same issue. Is there any way to recover my lost data?

iPhone 5 won't take charge

So a couple of weeks ago my iphone started acting up. *First the screen froze with the iCloud window open and it wouldn't respond. I couldn't text, call, or pretty much do anything. I fixed that by rebooting my phone by holding the home and power button for 12 seconds. Thanks to this community. **Then, the touch screen began to lag. I would try to unlock my phone or text, and the screen would take a couple of seconds before it would respond. Still does that but not as much. ***Next, the battery icon would not respond. I would plug it in to charge and it would show as charging, but the percentage number was not changing. It doesn't show if it would complete the full charge so I had to estimate the avarage time it used to take before it began to mess up. After I would unplug it, it would take a couple of hours to actually show the correct percentage of the battery. ****NOW - it won't charge at all. I am getting very frustrated and don't know how to fix this. I tried the wall charger, the car charger, my macbook, and even my iPad charger plug and none of them worked. It shows that it is plugged in just not charging. I took advantage of that and backed up my phone to my computer but now what do I do. It's not charging at all.  My next problem is that I can't take it to an Apple Store cause the closest one is 4 hours away so I have to take it to the AT&T store.  Is there anything else I can try before I take it to AT&T. Or what can I expect AT&T to do about it?  Luckily, I bought my iphone less than a year ago so that would mean it's under warranty, correct?  HELP!

iPhone 4S dock port corrosion for second time in one year.

Despite never coming into contact with water (I use an otterbox with the silicone flap to protect the docking port), my iPhone has been rendered unusable once and is currently stuck thinking it's docked.  Apple refused to help me the first time, due to their policy about water damaged hardware, so I went to a licensed repair center to have it replaced (could have done it myself, but they wouldn't just sell me the part). To be clear, my iPhone never (I repeat NEVER) enters the bathroom while the shower is running and not until the moisture has disipated, and I never charge it near an open window.  I do, however, live only a few hundred yards from the ocean.  For obvious reasons, you can see what my suspicion is. This is less of a support issue, and more of a plead for help from anyone that knows who at Apple I can talk to about this, and more importantly that they are made aware of the fact that their docking hardware is clearly sub-par (as no other device I have EVER had while living here has suffered from this issue).

iPhone will not exit applications without delay

When an application is open and I try to exit it by pressing the Home button, nothing happens for about a minute. The app remains open and active, but pressing the Home button does nothing. Eventually, it will quit the app after 30s-1minute. It is not a mechanical issue as the problem is only intermittent. Other times, the apps quit fine. It's as if there is some kind of system "hang" while the app is open and exiting it takes time. Any answers? iPhone has plenty of storage space, problem happens with any app.

My iPhone 4s stopped reproducing any sounds over built in speakers, except the ringtone and alarm .The volume bar is missing in the music and video apps. If I plug in my headphones everything is back to normal and the volume bar reappears, when I plug them out & the  volume bar disappears again.I restarted it & cleaned the docking area and headphone jack but nothing works .What else can i do ?

New Viber user on iphone 4S. Viber works fine except my phone only rings or notifies me of Viber message if Viber app open and showing. ie if phone in sleep mode etc it doesn t ring.
